That Russian agent has some DIRT on all these Repugs. I told you all ( I interned for a US Congressman-Dem of course-and have contacts there still) this is going to swallow many many many in the GOP, their business friends, some in the media. Mueller has it all. He isn't a part of this Butina investigation but he has all the dirt they have.

He must speak. He must speak because the chorus of criticism about his Helsinki debacle is too high and loud, and coming from many quarters.
I don't know what he will say, though...

[quote]Mueller has it all. He isn't a part of this Butina investigation but he has all the dirt they have.
1/ The Washington Post somewhat misleading says in its article on the charges that they're "not part of the special counsel investigation into Russian interference." Note that in the sense any of us would ever care about that sentence—the practical sense—that statement is untrue.
2/ Whether or not Mueller is the prosecuting authority in the charges against Butina means absolutely nothing for whether he was and is being kept apprised of the work being done to prosecute her *and* any information that may result from that prosecution. The second part is key.
3/ Butina has already cooperated with the government (by testifying before Congress) and has already *offered* to cooperate with the federal executive branch—the people prosecuting her—also. Which means we can expect she'll be giving information that *ends up in Mueller's hands*.
4/ Indeed, it's entirely possible that any deal the feds might sign with Butina would require her to cooperate fully *with the Special Counsel*—i.e., give him all the information she has. So would she? Well, she's a Kremlin agent—so our first instinct is to say that she will not.

The nation’s top voting-machine maker has admitted installing remote-access software on election-management systems that it sold over a period of six years, in what one U.S. senator described as “the worst decision for security short of leaving ballot boxes on a Moscow street corner.”
In a letter sent to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) in April and obtained by Motherboard, Election Systems and Software admitted that it had “provided pcAnywhere remote connection software… to a small number of customers between 2000 and 2006,” which was installed on the election-management system ES&S sold them. Election-management systems are not the voting terminals used to cast ballots: They stay in county election offices and contain software used to program the voting machines and count up final results from the voting machines. The remote-access software created an opportunity for hackers to breach the machines. Election-management systems and voting machines are supposed to be disconnected from the internet and from any other systems that are connected to the internet for security reasons.
ES&S customers who had pcAnywhere installed also had modems on their election-management systems so ES&S technicians could dial into the systems and use the software to troubleshoot.

Don't forget he also back-pedalled without shame at his presser with PM May. He'd blurted meddling opinions in 'The Sun' to look tough; then when called out about it - on the same day - said his nice words about May hadn't been used. It was 'fake news.'
Today again he accused fake news of going 'crazy' - and next, diametrically reversed his 'statement' about a matter of crucial national importance. Well, all those distinguished American psychiatrists have already put on record their view of Trump's manifest psychological impairments.

Oh, and don’t forget the asslicker sitting to his right who thanked Trump for doing such a great job with the economy.
Right after Trump’s about-face conference - and his subsequent arms folding - Ali Velshi on MSNBC just said, “Oh OK, now that THAT clears everything up, thanks for watching MSNBC, we’re done with news now.”
Then he threw his hands up in the air in disbelief and Katie Tur joined him by saying “are we supposed to have blindfolds on and ignore all the other things he said in Helsinki?”
Is this missing “not” supposed to solve it all?

by Anonymous | reply 134 | July 17, 2018 8:03 PM |
He said a lot of things yesterday. In the tweets, at the press conference, and quite critically on Hannity. All of what he said was consistently critical of the US IC, and supportive of Putin. Only today he realized that he erroneously failed to say "not." And we're supposed to believe that crock of nonsense and just move on?
Incredible.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | July 17, 2018 8:07 PM |
TRUMP: So let me just say that we have two thoughts. You have groups that are wondering why the FBI never took the server. Why haven't they taken the server? Why was the FBI told to leave the office of the Democratic National Committee?
I've been wondering that. I've been asking that for months and months and I've been tweeting it out and calling it out on social media. Where is the server? I want to know where is the server and what is the server saying?
With that being said, all I can do is ask the question.
My people came to me, Dan Coates, came to me and some others they said they think it's Russia. I have President Putin. He just said it's not Russia.
I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be. But I really do want to see the server but I have, I have confidence in both parties.
I really believe that this will probably go on for a while but I don't think it can go on without finding out what happened to the server. What happened to the servers of the Pakistani gentleman that worked on the DNC?
Where are those servers? They're missing. Where are they? What happened to Hillary Clinton's emails? 33,000 emails gone, just gone. I think in Russia they wouldn't be gone so easily.
I think it's a disgrace that we can't get Hillary Clinton's thirty three thousand e-mails.
I have great confidence in my intelligence people but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today and what he did is an incredible offer.
He offered to have the people working on the case come and work with their investigators, with respect to the 12 people. I think that's an incredible offer. Ok? Thank you
This is from the Putin/Trump press conference transcript. The only word that doesn’t make any kind of sense in Trump’s statement is the word “not”, when you look at everything else Trump said. Not only is Trump lying, he’s not doing it well for a change.

Damn, he is so dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | July 17, 2018 8:20 PM |
It's not just "the server." He is unable to comprehend and retain what's been said to him.
In August 2016 the Canadians among me were alarmed that a presidential candidate asked three times in a half hour "why can't we use nukes?" That wasn't a moment exclusive for the people outside the US: Americans read about it to. And yet this is whom they elect.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | July 17, 2018 8:21 PM |
R118 & R122 - I always felt the American embrace of technology with the use of the electric chair was a particularly nasty way to end matters...
But if we’re really wanting an appropriate finale - I think the end of Mussolini et al directly by his people and strung up after for all to see would be entirely fitting in the circumstances.
And this - is coming from someone entirely opposed to capital punishment. I have huge issues with it as far as civil criminal punishment. But for the treasonous perfidy involved in selling out your people - your entire nation! - and risk bringing them to ruin - all for coin!
This is a vile and despicable act. No one forced them to do this. It was an act of fundamental betrayal, deserving of the harshest consequences.

Has Marcy Wheeler been discussed in these threads? She is a journalist who turned one of her sources in to the FBI last year, when she realized he played a role in the Russian election meddling.
Trump’s actions with regard to Syria and Israel are part of a quid pro quo with Russia in return for their helping him win the election.
The shit is about to hit the fan.

r157 the witnesses will testify ONLY if they get immunity. Immunity is the ONE condition that must be granted for the witnesses to testify, the prosecutors may NOT use the witnesses' testimony against them, so the witnesses will be comfortable to share what they know, from any dealings or situations that may otherwise incriminate them.

It is the House Republicans that are the biggest problem in protesting Trump at all cost. McConnell, Graham, Rand Paul, Tom Cotton and several others, are Trump protectors. In the House, the numbers are fifteen or so that are activists in undermining the Mueller investigation. Among them include Nunes, Jim Jordan, DeSantis, Gaetz, Issa, Massey, Gohmert, and Biggs. Gowdy, and others, can play on the fence when convenient to give the fallacious impression of objectivity. There needs to be blow-back on Trump's enablers, specifically ones that are trying to obstruction or kill the Mueller investigation and target specific people in the DOJ and FBI as a means to deflect and gut the inquiry. Write/Email them, particularly if you live in a district of one. Complain. Call their office. Write editorials to newspapers. Complain about them to both your Senators and House Rep., even if they are Democrats. Vote. Urge others to vote.

If the Mueller investigation shows findings/indictments that Trump conspired with Russia to influence the 2016 election and/or engaged in obstruction and/or money laundering, particularly within the last decade; most Republicans in Congress will abandon support for him. Some in the House may still remain behind Trump. His base will shrink to about 30% or a bit less. Maybe more if the charges are immense.
It is most important to counter Trump and House Republicans from trying to further undermine the investigation.

r216 asking Trump to secure the 2018 mid-terms is ridiculous for Miss Lindsey to say. DaJT has proven he wants the Russian intrusion......again.
What Congress can do is appropriate strong funding for counter-measures, and monitor it thoroughly. Trump will try to undermine, but keep those intelligence committee hearings frequent through the campaigning and the election process.

The Rethuglicans are spineless cowards. While I think that many of them are complicit either directly or somewhat indirectly, at least for those who are there exists some rationale for their lying, prevaricating, and dissembling -- they are trying to save their own miserable hides. But the others who are not complicit are in some ways even worse because -- in the face of obvious treason -- they are simply going along so as to not rock the boat.
Will none of these people call this what it is? Of course not. That is why they are Repukes. They are in it for the absurd tax cuts for the wealthy, the connections, the profits, the corporate greed, and whatever modicum of power it affords them. They are traitors, the whole damn lot of them. Waiting for them to do the right thing is like waiting for Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy to make a joint appearance to bestow upon you your lottery winnings.

Rachel Maddow just went through a huge list of things that have happened that Congress should investigate and honestly it scared the shit out of me. Wish I could remember more than just two of the but recently the IRS has ruled that the NRA not longer needs to release its donors or how much money they give. Now in case you don't know, Russian has funneled money into the NRA in the 2016 election, so the NRA no longer needing to release that info is huge.
Also the Trump administration has decided to eliminate the position of top cyber policy adviser role. Why would we need a cyber security advisor?

Breaking: Cambridge Analytica's Facebook data was accessed from Russia, MP says:
CNNMoney) The now infamous Facebook data set on tens of millions of Americans gathered by a Cambridge University scientist for a firm that went on to work for Donald Trump's 2016 campaign was accessed from Russia, a British member of parliament tells CNN.
Damian Collins, the Conservative MP leading a British parliamentary investigation into online disinformation, told CNN that a British investigation found evidence that the data, collected by Professor Aleksandr Kogan on behalf of Cambridge Analytica, had been accessed from Russia and other countries. The discovery was made by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), Britain's data protection authority, Collins said.
"I think what we want to know now is who were those people and what access did they have, and were they actually able to take some of that data themselves and use it for whatever things they wanted," Collins said.

Here’s what I believe happened. Eight years ago, Republicans were a Congressional minority.
They hated it. It’s hard to raise money; it’s hard to get re-elected (as if being in Congress were a “job” rather than public service); and you’re pretty much powerless - especially if the President is of the opposite party. (Like the Dems now). The R’s expected success during Obama’s first midterm, turned things around for them temporarily.
Nevertheless, when Boehner (a prodigious fundraiser) resigned over the antics of the Jordan, Meadows, and other far, far, far right wing nuts, the party panicked.
They begged Ryan (the only high profile House Republican) to take Boeiner’s place. He did, on the condition the party wouldn’t expect him to duplicate Boehner’s money machine.
Enter Butina and the NRA. THEY made up the shortfall. Ryan “tried” to maintain plausible deniability.
Russia clinched it for Trump amidst the Comey (now Mueller) probe.
The NRA gave out lots of money. Some of it to Rs who were totally in on the scheme (Rohrbacher, Chaffetz, Nunes) well as to many others.
Comey was fired when it became apparent his team had begun to uncover the scheme. Some of the dirtier members announced retirements (hoping to slink under the radar). Others began undermining the investigation. The majority of Republicans just looked the other way. They want to allow the dirtiest enough room to protect Trump and stop Mueller.
Why?
1). Because so many of them were the recipients of NRA money. Even if they didn’t know it was tainted, how do they prove to swing voters that the checks they got didn’t knowingly come from Russians?
2). If Mueller succeeds, so many of their colleagues will be proven dirty that what survives of the Trimp party could become a permanent, unspeakable, minority. They’d hate going back into the minority with that Albatross around their necks.

Would you get on the Fire Rosenstein & Mueller bandwagon?
Would you gang up on Trump and tell him to resign? (If he does, will everything goes away?)

While the NATO meeting in Brussels was an acknowledged triumph, with billions of dollars more being put up by member countries at a faster pace, the meeting with Russia may prove to be, in the long run, an even greater success. Many positive things will come out of that meeting..

Well, R296, that would be a failed strategy, because this is a case that is being prosecuted by the National Security Division of DOJ and the U.S. Attorney's office for the District of Columbia. Firing Mueller and Rosenstein would be pointless because the prosecution will continue whether Mueller or Rosenstein are there. And, even if a new DAG could be confirmed before November, it would be almost impossible for that individual to end the Butina prosecution without then being accused of obstruction of justice themselves.

The hardest-core Republican response would be to go all-in, to assert (not in so many words) that there must be no restrictions on where campaign financing comes from (any more than limits to how much) and through a series of decisions by right-wing judges entrench the plutocracy and its subordination to the Russian oligarchy—or whoever happens to be financing our point-one %. To Treason Or Not To Treason, That's The Question
by Anonymous | reply 302 | July 18, 2018 1:12 PM |
Axios: Yes, almost every elected Republican we talk to privately thinks President Trump’s warm embrace of Vladimir Putin was unexplainable, unacceptable and un-American. Yes, they wish they could say this publicly. No, they won’t — not now, and probably never.
The cold, hard reason: They see no upside in speaking out — and fear political suicide if they do, numerous Republican officials tell us. Why it matters: This is the mind-control power Trump has, thanks to 90 percent of Republicans approving of his tactics and performance.
Mike Murphy, GOP strategist: "I’m furious R’s are cowardly about Trump. But here is what they say in private: 1.) Trump is a disgrace. 2.) I give fiery press conf tmmrw saying that. 3.) Nothing changes, Trump remains nuts and remains POTUS. 4.) A nut beats me in next primary. So how does my pol suicide help?"
by Anonymous | reply 303 | July 18, 2018 1:13 PM |
What Mike Murphy said is sadly true. The only realistic solution that we have at this point is to vote the fuckers out in November. He's as guilty as sin of treason and conspiring with an enemy state to steal an election that has benefited him and his family. He is an illegitimate [p]resident and should be in jail not the Oval Office. But there is nothing that is going to change in the next three and a half months. The Repukes are scared of their own shadow, and the GOP is now fully in the hands of the brain-dead Tea Party white nationalists. I had a feeling in 2010 that this was going to happen. I really wish that I had been wrong.

Putin created a network of Russian assets within the US government to the point where others are too afraid to do anything about it. And that tells how deep this goes and how powerful these assets are that they could hurt someone's career for speaking up.
However I am having a really hard time to see conservatives as victims who are afraid of losing their career or worse. Serves these assholes right for being part of such a corrupt group and not doing anything in the early stages.

Was Georgia’s Election System Hacked in 2016? Robert Mueller’s latest indictments raise new questions about the integrity of Georgia’s voting infrastructure. Why is the state stonewalling? By KIM ZETTER July 18, 2018.

Link at R331 is unbelievable:
The indictment last week of 12 Russian military officers is focusing new attention on election servers in Georgia that are currently embroiled in a lawsuit between election integrity activists and the secretary of state. The activists, intent on proving that the state’s paperless voting machines are not secure and should be replaced, want to examine two state election servers to look for evidence that Russian hackers or others might have compromised them to subvert elections. But the state has been fighting them for more than a year, citing sovereign immunity from lawsuits and also insisting to the news media that Georgia was never targeted by Russian hackers.
by Anonymous | reply 333 | July 18, 2018 4:11 PM |
When the Department of Homeland Security notified 21 states in 2017 that they had been targeted by Russian hackers intent on interfering with the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Georgia—despite having one of the most vulnerable voting systems in the country—was not among them. Trump won the state by nearly 6 percentage points over Democrat Hillary Clinton, whose campaign had hoped to pick up the reliably Republican state for the first time since 1992.
DHS said Russian hackers had probed websites in the 21 states looking for vulnerabilities, and in at least one state—Illinois—they found a vulnerability in a server that hosted the state’s voter registration database, allowing them to access 90,000 voter records. But the Russians were apparently unsuccessful in finding vulnerabilities in other state election sites and evidently never bothered at all with servers in Georgia, according to the agency.
This was odd because around the same time the Russians were targeting other states, a security researcher in Georgia named Logan Lamb discovered a serious security vulnerability in an election server in his state. The vulnerability allowed him to download the state’s entire database of 6.7 million registered voters and would have allowed him or any other intruder to alter versions of the database distributed to counties prior to the election. Lamb also found PDFs with instructions and passwords for election workers to sign in to a central server on Election Day as well as software files for the state’s ExpressPoll pollbooks—the electronic devices used by poll workers to verify voters’ eligibility to vote before allowing them to cast a ballot.
The unpatched and misconfigured server had been vulnerable since 2014 and was managed by the Center for Election Systems, a small training and testing center that until recently occupied a former two-story house on the Kennesaw State University campus. Until last year, the Ccnter was responsible for programming every voting machine across the state, raising concerns that if the Russians or other adversaries had been able to penetrate the center’s servers as Lamb had done, they might have been able to find a way to subvert software distributed by the center to voting machines across the state.
But Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who was the only state election official to refuse security assistance from the Department of Homeland Security prior to the election, has insisted for more than a year that his state’s voting systems were never at risk in the 2016 election, because DHS told him the Russians had not targeted Georgia.

Alexander Dugin is 'Putin's Rasputin'.
[quote]To see what Dugin might advocate specifically, we can look in his bestselling book “The Foundation of Geopolitics” from 1997, which had particular success among Russian military and according to Foreign Policy (and Dugin's own words), is assigned as a textbook at Russian military universities. The book outlines a vision for Russia in the 21st century that would lead to Eurasia’s formation, but also includes specific strategies for defeating or neutralizing the United States. These include destabilization and disinformation campaigns using Russian special forces and asymmetrical warfare, splitting alliances between U.S. and countries like Germany and France, as well as fermenting division within the country itself, specifically singling out race relations. On Page 367 of the first edition of the book, Dugin explains:“It is especially important to introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S.

Steven Colbert and these threads give me hope (as well as others fighting the good fight like Michel Moore). There is a vast conspiracy of dunces eager to undermine our democracy to enrich themselves and enslave the rest of us to a rigid "Christian" doctrine led by Russian inspired dictators. Reading your posts and watching Colbert making sport of those corrupt fools gives me hope that we will see an end to this with many of the most corrupt traitors executed or imprisoned.
It is so important that we seriously educate our nation's children to understand the importance of getting involved in our democracy by voting, running for office, and staying informed by following a variety of sources. So many politicians see government service as simply a cushy job with power and influence. I've worked with local politicians in my position with a major local governmental department and fortunately, as I live in a very blue area, they work hard on behalf of the people, our environment, and the health of our communities. It's a disgrace to do anything but that but people like Nunes, McConnell, and the rest of that band of scum are there only to enrich themselves and impoverish others.
It's frightening to me how easily our democracy has been corrupted and nearly destroyed. There is still time to turn it around with our vote and the incredible work being done by the Mueller team and the news media, and by news media I do not mean Fox or other right-wing propaganda sites. It gives me great hope that the Mueller team will end trump's illegitimate presidency so that we may rebuild what we're losing. Our governmental practices must be changed so that the true will of the majority is not sidelined and obliterated by the actions of a corrupt minority.

From court documents submitted today in the Butina case:
“During the course of this investigation, the FBI has determined that Butina gained access through U.S. Person 1 to an extensive network of U.S. persons in positions to influence political activities in the United States. Butina, age 29, and U.S. Person 1, age 56, are believed to have cohabitated and been involved in a personal relationship during the course of Butina’s activities in the United States. But this relationship does not represent a strong tie to the United States because Butina offered an individual other than U.S. Person 1 sex in exchange for a position within a special interest organization. Further, in papers seized by the FBI, Butina complained about living with U.S. Person 1 and expressed disdain for continuing to cohabitate with U.S. Person 1."

Torshin has now been named by the U.S. as Butina's handler.

His idiocy said, clearly and directed at the questioner, "NO!" Everyone saw it, heard it, reacted to it.
Then hours later Sarah, in her recurring role as defender and presenter of the Big Lie, tried to explain that it didn't happen. There was no answer to any such question. He was just leaving the room and looked at that reporter and barked "NO!" for no real reason. Next question.

And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. ^^ And an excerpt from her Op-Ed mentioned in the above article:
Weeks later, when I recorded the president’s interview with Bill O’Reilly, I watched with disbelief as the White House communications director Hope Hicks summoned Mr. O’Reilly to the Oval Office so he could speak with Mr. Trump privately. In my five years with President Barack Obama, off-the-record discussions with reporters happened after work hours — not for an hour in the middle of the work day, and certainly not before an interview. When a president spoke on the record with a reporter, his staff made sure to have a stenographer present so there could be an official White House transcript, just in case the reporter came out with an inaccurate quotation.
But that was then, and this was the Trump era.
Mr. Trump likes to call anyone who disagrees with him “fake news.” But if he’s really the victim of so much inaccurate reporting, why is he so averse to having the facts recorded and transcribed?
President Trump did criticize Theresa May to The Sun. We know because it was recorded.
It’s clear that White House stenographers do not serve his administration, but rather his adversary: the truth.

Reuters: A federal judge on Wednesday denied a request by President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort to suppress evidence seized by the FBI from his home as part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing probe into whether Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russia.
Manafort’s lawyers had sought to limit the scope of evidence that prosecutors can rely on for his upcoming September trial in Washington, D.C., claiming that the search warrant was overly broad and unconstitutional.
“Given the nature of the investigation, the warrant was not too broad in scope,” wrote Judge Amy Berman Jackson for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in her ruling.

The GOP is neck deep in Russian corruption.
Republican Dana Rohrabacher is one of the most Russia-friendly congressmen and has met with Russia-linked figures on several occasions.
In April, Rohrabacher told Yahoo News Alexander Torshin was "sort of the conservatives' favorite Russian. The two dined together last year.
He reportedly met with the Russian lawyer and lobbyist Natalia Veselnitskaya in April 2016. She attended the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Trump's eldest son Donald Trump Jr.
He met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in August 2017 to brief him on the Veselnitskaya meeting and link Assange up with US officials.
He and his former staff director were accused last year of violating the Magnitsky Act — a 2012 law that blacklists Russians suspected of human rights abuses — when they tried to get Russia's deputy general prosecutor removed from the US sanctions list in 2016.

[quote]If even a whiff of 1/10000000000000000000000000 of this was done before Trump
Someone said the truest thing.... if Hillary had been rightfully put into office, Repubs would currently be in the process of impeaching her for overdue book fines at Wellesley.

The ship has hit the iceberg and is sinking. The life boats are almost all gone. Most of these complicit GOP bastards will go down with the TRUMPTANIC as it rapidly sinks beneath the waves.

R531, you're naive.
One or two SCOTUS seats are just an appetizer. They want all of them.
Who's to day that the rest of the holdover Rethug SCOTUSes can't be persuaded to retire by 2020, so that Cheeto can appoint young rightwing replacements who will wreak havoc for decades? Isn't there a strong indication that that's what happened with Kennedy? I'm sure GOP is holding daily prayers for RGB to, you know (I don't even want to utter the word).
Do. Not. Waste.Hopes. On. The. Rethugs! Vote the fuckers out, that's the only remedy.

The Interior Department’s internal watchdog has launched a full investigation into a real estate deal involving a foundation established by Ryan Zinke and developers including Halliburton Chairman David Lesar, which was first reported by POLITICO last month, according to a letter the office sent to House Democrats on Wednesday.
The inspector general’s probe will focus on whether Zinke violated conflict of interest laws, the latest official inquiry of Zinke’s activities in his 16 months helming the department.

It’s been a goal of the GOP to establish one party rule. Google “Karl Rove New Yorker profile.” They don’t want to have a dynamic democracy they want to destroy all opposition and they’re getting there.
Back then Rove talked of destroying labor, government employees by cutting taxes to the bone and persuading Jews to vote republican by being hyper pro-Israel. These were 3 vital groups who voted democratic over the decades. They’re pretty much at their goal now.

It is telling how silent most of them were. They are scared shitless and NOT of him. This Maria Butina thing is going to blow open the whole, treasonous Repug party to its core. Along with Mueller, they going down!

Um, Jews make up something like 3% of the American population. The only people Republicans are trying to appease by being "hyper pro-Israel" is the evangelicals.

From the NYT article:
WASHINGTON — Two weeks before his inauguration, Donald J. Trump was shown highly classified intelligence indicating that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia had personally ordered complex cyberattacks to sway the 2016 American election.
The evidence included texts and emails from Russian military officers and information gleaned from a top-secret source close to Mr. Putin, who had described to the C.I.A. how the Kremlin decided to execute its campaign of hacking and disinformation.
Mr. Trump sounded grudgingly convinced, according to several people who attended the intelligence briefing....
According to nearly a dozen people who either attended the meeting with the president-elect or were later briefed on it, the four primary intelligence officials described the streams of intelligence that convinced them of Mr. Putin’s role in the election interference.
They included stolen emails from the Democratic National Committee that had been seen in Russian military intelligence networks by the British, Dutch and American intelligence services. Officers of the Russian intelligence agency formerly known as the G.R.U. had plotted with groups like WikiLeaks on how to release the email stash.
And ultimately, several human sources had confirmed Mr. Putin’s own role.
That included one particularly valuable source, who was considered so sensitive that Mr. Brennan had declined to refer to it in any way in the Presidential Daily Brief during the final months of the Obama administration, as the Russia investigation intensified.
Instead, to keep the information from being shared widely, Mr. Brennan sent reports from the source to Mr. Obama and a small group of top national security aides in a separate, white envelope to assure its security...

I'd wager one reason they included this much detail is because sources are dead and methods are burned.

Have the deplorables come to terms yet that Trump is a Russian asset and is endangering the US and their freedom? If there was any time for his cabinet to remove him, it’s now because he is ignoring people advising him on national security. Secretary Sarah Sanders is a traitor too
