Sunny's best contribution was after Pirro said the FISA warrants were issued based on the "phony" Steele dossier. Sunny didn't correct the "phony" part but she said there was more evidence than the dossier to get the warrants. She could have done more. It seemed like Sunny just thought "this woman is a fraud and full of shit so I won't waste too much time fighting with her". I think Ana wanted to get in there more but Pirro and Whoopi did most of the talking.

When Pirro said she thinks it's a good idea for Presidents to talk to other world leaders and that it's precedent for the President to speak to the Kremlin leader, no one brought up that Putin's intelligence officers were indicted on Friday for hacking into the DNC server. No one said that Trump didn't call out Putin to his face on the world stage as they stood next to each other. It was poorly handled by Sunny and Ana and Whoopi isn't capable of getting everything out that needs to be said. see what most people don't realize is that Fox hosts/pundits and Trump use the same strategy. They are going with the assumption that if they speak confidently, people won't question or correct their blatant lies and spin. Even if the person debating them knows they are lying, Trump/Fox hosts won't stop lying with their talking points and feel more emboldened if they aren't called out. Most people when engaging them in conversations fall for this trap repeatedly. If someone does start to correct them, Trump/the Fox employee will then try to distract and redirect the conversation elsewhere. It can be very off-putting to handle but the liberal side needs to better prepped. Ana in particular knows how to handle these people as she does so on CNN a few nights each week. We've seen Ana and Sunny use their big mouths before so it was just odd they didn't say too much this time.

If you check the outrageous Tucker Carlson clips especially this week, he redirected conversations against Democrats repeatedly. Now to most of us he looks foolish but to his base he looks "legit" because he has passion and is relentless. Carlson was trying to say the other night in a clip I saw online that it's bad for democracy not to be able to question the FBI blah blah never mind the fact that the PRESIDENT GOT ON THE WORLD STAGE AND SIDED WITH PUTIN OVER OUR INTELLIGENCE. The Democrat debating him then got distracted by this absurd claim by Carlson and it made them look more "on even terms".

When you are armed with the facts, it should NEVER appear that both sides are on "even terms" during a debate. There's no reason why Trump, his administration or the assholes on Fox should ever appear to be "holding their own" during a debate when all they do is lie. Democrats need to be prepped better for these sneaky strategies.

She would have controlled the narrative and kept the rest of the panel in line in order to ensure questions were answered and obvious lies by the guest were challenged. “The View” co-host Sara Haines will leave the show to join Michael Strahan on the new third hour of “Good Morning America” in September, Page Six has exclusively learned.

Her exit from “The View” comes on the heels of news that co-host Paula Faris will leave the show as well as her job at “GMA” as weekend anchor.

ABC News announced in May that it would launch a third hour of “GMA,” when it also canceled its daytime foodie show “The Chew.”

But since announcing the third hour for “GMA” — which will air in the 1p.m. timeslot — ABC had not yet announced the hosts.

A network rep had no comment.

Haines has been an audience favorite since joining “The View” in 2016, and has appeared on “GMA” as a fill-in weekend anchor.

They are all affiliates, r268. That is what an affiliate is...an entity that leases the spectrum from the FCC then rents it out to a network. Networks will rely on affiliates in markets where they, themselves, do not have any license over the spectrum -- usually lower tier 2 or tier 3 markets.

R271 I get that but if an affiliate isn't owned by the network, they have little control over what they do. For example, many soap operas were canceled in certain parts of the country because the local station, who might have been CBS or ABC in name only, would opt to go for another show in its place. The network could do nothing to stop them.

First, I think you are confusing terminology.  A network doesn't own an affiliate.  A network contracts with an affiliate to air it's programming and an affiliate can drop a network's programs at the affiliate's discretion-- either the content is objectionable, rating are low etc.  If you are familiar with something called "Upfronts"...that is the network presenting it's programming for the upcoming season to the affiliates and hope that the affiliates like what they see.

A lot of the time networks will lose affiliate airtime to local sports.  If you follow ratings, you will see sometimes a show will have an asterisk and the footnote say that suchandsuch didn't air in a market because of a local sports game.  Happens a lot during football season.

Federal regulation (and sometimes financial consideration) don't really allow for a network to own a station in every market.  Usually the networks will own the bandwidth in major markets like NYC, LA etc.

Sara is the only one I actually really liked. It's a dumb move on the part of ABC.

I like her, too, R308, and hate to see her go. She's just a very nice presence to have around, particularly in comparison to the horrid Meghan. That said, I can't help but wonder if it's less an executive decision (as you suggest) and more that she's just not happy on the show and wants off.
