It’s infuriating but Trump et al are guilty and stalling for time. They are hoping a NK settlement will keep their majorities in Congress come November, but we may be entering a recession by then given that corporations are using the tax breaks for stock buyouts, not new jobs or innovations. The Trump base have been fully brainwashed at this point. They literally don’t care if he is guilty, a liar and corrupt

by Anonymousreply 13May 2, 2018 6:04 PM

They don't see it now, but politicians, such as Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, and Paul Ryan, will go down in history as deniers and/or enablers of crimes against America by the Putin-DJT conspiracy cartel. It will not be a pretty legacy for them.

Eh. Just now a former special counsel and a WH legal counsel were commenting on msnbc that anyone in this position would have the same advice.

They delayed the sentencing of Flynn for two months because supposedly Flynn has been cooperating?

by Anonymousreply 21May 2, 2018 6:44 PM

Trump has added five new lawyers? Are the tax payers footing the bill?

by Anonymousreply 22May 2, 2018 6:47 PM

Mueller doesnt need Trump to talk....all he needs to do is indict Junior, and Jared.....and poof...game over.

by Anonymousreply 23May 2, 2018 6:47 PM

Guilliani told WaPo that Trump’s legal team is going to push Mueller to demonstrate what evidence he has and limit his questions for the president. “Some people have talked about a possible 12-hour interview,” he said, adding, “That’s not going to happen, I’ll tell you that. It’d be, max, two to three hours around a narrow set of questions.”

Since when do subjects of an investigation get to dictate the terms of the inquiry?

by Anonymousreply 24May 2, 2018 6:54 PM

Trump and his band of Goons have gotten away with everything so far. He is going nowhere. Just think six more years of his "I saved the Olympics", "I brought peace to North and South Korea", "I saved the world".

by Anonymousreply 25May 2, 2018 6:59 PM

"Trump should never talk to Mueller."

Golly gee, but I wonder why lawyer President Bill Clinton never thought of that! Just. Say. No!

Bwahahahaha! Yeah, that'll work.

by Anonymousreply 26May 2, 2018 7:00 PM

r14, the thing is that these people do not give a fuck about how they will be remembered. All they see themselves is as laughing all the way to the bank.

It's another one of these "inside jokes" where the common folk is supposed to be good in order to be remembered as good. Like be a good obedient sheep and get a glorious afterlife in heaven.

by Anonymousreply 27May 2, 2018 7:02 PM

I love Mueller' strategy. Does anyone else believe that he has enough shit on Trump to hang him but is just waiting to see what other gems come out of the Cohen raid?

by Anonymousreply 28May 2, 2018 7:13 PM
Since when do subjects of an investigation get to dictate the terms of the inquiry?

They don't. Giuliani can say anything he wants but Mueller is under no obligation to listen, and he likely won't, based on what we've seen thus far. It's just empty bluster.

by Anonymousreply 29May 2, 2018 7:40 PM

Trump is getting ready to fire Rosenstein and Mueller and there won't be a god damned Republicunt that will lift a finger and in fact, with the help of Fox will fire up Trumps base and Trump will stay where he is unless the left and the sane people rise up. Not sure of what will happen. I'm not a " fucking concern troll" but IMHO all bets are off. We are living in crazy times. Never thought I'd see the US so fucked up. And the main stream media are no help but more like a hindrance.

I just hope we, the decent American people, won't take this. Let's open those windows and scream " I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this shit anymore .

by Anonymousreply 30May 2, 2018 8:05 PM

One of the things that makes Trump such a bad leader is that he is simultaneously impulsive and indecisive. His tendency is to generate chaos and disruption rather than take clear steps to do anything. For that reason, I think he's likely to keep harassing and threatening Rosenstein and Mueller rather than actually firing them.

by Anonymousreply 37May 2, 2018 8:50 PM

Trump is so obsessed with “collusion” because he knows he’s guilty of it. He thinks if he can only get out ahead of that one, he’ll beat it.

by Anonymousreply 38May 2, 2018 9:23 PM

I am signed up to march in protest with move on .org when/if Rosenstein / Mueller are fired. I'm not putting up with that lying treasonous piece of orange pus in the people's house. And he can take Uday Qusay and his whore wife and beloved Ivanka with him. Poor Barron.

by Anonymousreply 39May 2, 2018 9:23 PM

Trump could cut his perception problems at least in half if he could just keep his fucking mouth shut.

Instead, he can't help but speak and tweet as though the world wouldn't turn unless he vomited out every thought and, in doing so, draws endless attention to the very things he is so likely guilty of having done. I've never seen such transparently guilty behavior from anyone. It staggers me that he's gotten away with this shady bullshit for so long. He is his own worst enemy.

And, most shockingly, he seems to surround himself exclusively with people who are just as monumentally stupid and woefully incompetent as himself. You'd think that at least one of the crooks in the getaway car would know what he's doing, but it seems like Trump doesn't even have one smart person on his rotating roster of criminals.

by Anonymousreply 40May 2, 2018 9:35 PM

Why are we even having this political battle? The MSM is buying into the whole legal defense bullshit, rather than demanding that Trump resign because of his crimes. There is absolutely no discussion about policy, for example, what a giant failure Trump’s tax cuts are - where are the new jobs? Not happening. It’s all very discouraging and a giant waste of taxpayer money

by Anonymousreply 41May 2, 2018 9:35 PM

Can't Mueller just subpoena the Orange shitstain?

by Anonymousreply 42May 2, 2018 9:57 PM

He's threatened to, R42, but nobody really knows the answer. We're in uncharted territory now that may end up being settled by the Supreme Court.

On MSNBC, some former justice department folks were saying that Mueller wouldn’t even float the idea of a subpoena to Trump's lawyers if he hadn’t already vetted the idea with Rosenstein. The Justice Department will put its full weight behind a subpoena if it comes to it.

Reason #417 why Trump wants to get rid of Rosenstein, I imagine.

"The Senate and the House are net fishing. The special counsel is spearfishing. They know what they are aiming at and are deadly accurate.”

by Anonymousreply 55May 3, 2018 12:30 AM

R55 what’s the source for this story?

by Anonymousreply 56May 3, 2018 2:01 AM

Lawrence O'Donnell is reporting that Giuliani was just on Fox admitting that Trump paid Cohen back the $130,000, funneling it through another lawyer. Ha! Way to go, Rudy.

by Anonymousreply 57May 3, 2018 2:03 AM

Rudy is a shit show

by Anonymousreply 58May 3, 2018 2:04 AM

by Anonymousreply 68May 3, 2018 2:13 AM

I guess they know the FBI has evidence that Trump paid off the loan. But it is a really bad move to make Rudy the spokesman. He’s basically admitting that Trump funneled money and broke campaign finance laws

by Anonymousreply 69May 3, 2018 2:16 AM
So Rudy will found floating in the East River tomorrow morning?

Let's hope so!

by Anonymousreply 70May 3, 2018 2:16 AM

The Trump re-payment was stated to get around a campaign finance violation. That money could have been garnered from campaign funds, and Trump claims he simply paid it. But he has already repeated lies about it.

by Anonymousreply 71May 3, 2018 2:16 AM
And in other news, Rachel Maddow was reporting that Trump's lawyers are freaking out cuz neither Trump not Michael Cohen will tell them what was in the seized files.

I can’t imagine why his lawyers would admit this, which makes me wonder what’s really going on.

by Anonymousreply 72May 3, 2018 2:17 AM

Ha. I bet Giuliani hasn't been paying attention to the news recently while wiling away his dotage and has no idea what he just did. He'll know soon. Trump and Avenatti are both going to go apeshit!

by Anonymousreply 73May 3, 2018 2:17 AM

....and if what Trump says is true, its not a campaign finance violation.....but it is money laundering.

by Anonymousreply 74May 3, 2018 2:18 AM

R72, who says it was the lawyers who leaked it. I bet you can't get within 1000 yards of the Oval Office without hearing the yelling. And, I'm sure the bunch of morons he hired as lawyers are walking around the entire West Wing yapping their mouths off in frustration.

by Anonymousreply 75May 3, 2018 2:20 AM

by Anonymousreply 76May 3, 2018 2:21 AM
The Trump re-payment was stated to get around a campaign finance violation. That money could have been garnered from campaign funds, and Trump claims he simply paid it. But he has already repeated lies about it.

His lies aren’t prosecutable, a campaign finance violation would be. Besides, everybody already knows he lies. A poll this week revealed that most of his supporters don’t believe him about Stormy — and they don’t care that he’s lying.

by Anonymousreply 79May 3, 2018 2:23 AM

More like this, R66

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 80May 3, 2018 2:29 AM

To me it doesn’t matter that he repaid Cohen, it’s still a campaign violation because it was an unreported benefit to the campaign. Trump’s endless parade of lies are tiresome

by Anonymousreply 81May 3, 2018 2:29 AM

Daily Beast: Rudy Giuliani, one of President Donald Trump’s lawyers, told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Wednesday night that the president fired James Comey because Comey refused to tell Trump he wasn’t under investigation as part of the Russia probe. Giuliani’s comments contradicted the White House’s official position on firing Comey, which was his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. Giuliani also called Comey a “disgraceful liar.”

by Anonymousreply 82May 3, 2018 2:29 AM

Hmm, so now we know Trump won from Russian collusion and hiding hush money payments to a porn star right before the election. Sad

by Anonymousreply 83May 3, 2018 2:33 AM

Based on Trump's record of dishonesty, we are entitled to doubt him if he says that he repaid Cohen with his own funds, not campaign funds.

It started as a weekly scandal by Tump; then a new one every other day. Then, the daily new scandal. Now, it is a new one almost every other hour.

And meanwhile, Congress is fingering their own asses, with some openly trying to help Trump obstruct justice.

I gotta be honest here - anyone who still sticks with Trump after these revelations is very low on the moron scale

by Anonymousreply 92May 3, 2018 2:47 AM

A former Trump person who was just interviewed by Mueller told CNN today...

“(The Mueller team) knows more about the Trump campaign than anyone who worked there.”

Sciutto is talking about Michael Caputo.

by Anonymousreply 94May 3, 2018 2:50 AM

"Funneled" through a law firm. I guess Trump can be glad Grandpa 911 didn't use the word laundered.

Also tonight....

"A former federal law enforcement official familiar with the department’s views said that Mr. Rosenstein and top F.B.I. officials have come to suspect that some lawmakers were using their oversight authority to gain intelligence about that investigation so that it could be shared with the White House."

In my dreams they made that public because Devin and his merry band of traitors are about to be frog-marched out of Congress in handcuffs.

by Anonymousreply 95May 3, 2018 2:51 AM

I liked Caputo when he said he was not pretty enough to pay back his $125K in legal fees

by Anonymousreply 96May 3, 2018 2:52 AM

Yes, Caputo told Anderson that the Mueller team has Trump campaign emails and texts.

by Anonymousreply 97May 3, 2018 2:52 AM

Caputo also made it sound like Mueller's team was groveling for any evidence of "collusion" they could find, and Caputo's personal opinion was that Trump would be in the clear. I think Caputo was lying. Or he's almost as dumb as Guiliani, (nobody could be dumber than Rudy!).

by Anonymousreply 98May 3, 2018 2:55 AM

Love Eric Swalwell. On MSNBC now.

by Anonymousreply 99May 3, 2018 2:55 AM

Caputo was just telling Trump via CNN to not sit down for an interview. My take is that he knows the jig is up

A pathologically lying President is a WEAK President.

President Tramp, you are a traitorous, thieving worm!

by Anonymousreply 101May 3, 2018 2:57 AM

Rudy actually said tonight that Comey was "a very perverted man"? This is coming from the Trump White House--what could possibly be their standard for "perversion"?

by Anonymousreply 102May 3, 2018 3:01 AM

It will get worse for Trump tomorrow. Somebody will be interviewing Maxine Waters.

by Anonymousreply 103May 3, 2018 3:02 AM

r100 Agree. He's been sending Trump signals through the press all day Mueller knows everything.

They're calling Comey a perverted, pathological liar because Trump is a perverted, pathological liar who projects all his own faults and crimes onto others.

by Anonymousreply 104May 3, 2018 3:02 AM

They are desperate. How do Trump supporters rationalize away his lies and immorality? Unbelievable

by Anonymousreply 105May 3, 2018 3:03 AM

I believe, in the buzarro world of Trump, it means that he can't be bought.

by Anonymousreply 106May 3, 2018 3:03 AM

Fucking nitwit evangelicals; NO, Trump was not sent to you by Jesus. Franklin Graham & Jerry Falwell Junior have misled you.

by Anonymousreply 107May 3, 2018 3:13 AM

So Rudy basically gave Mueller a stronger case for obstruction for the Comey firing, by describing a clear intent. Bravo!

So now there are three versions from the Trump side for this firing:

1) the official one: it was because of the DOJ (Rod Rosenstein's memo on Comey) letter which faulted Comey with mishandling the Clinton email probe -- which is being proven bogus with every passing day

2) Cheeto's admission to Lester Holt: because of "the Russia thing"

3) now Rudy: Trump fired Comey because he wouldn't say he wasn't a target of the investigation -- which is as clear of an intent as you can get

Case closed

by Anonymousreply 108May 3, 2018 5:01 AM

The hits keep on coming with such speed that I already forgot what imbecilic stuff Cheeto said on Fox&Friends.

He's due for another phone-in.

by Anonymousreply 109May 3, 2018 5:15 AM

Tweet by Ted Lieu:

4 possible felonies from Rudy Giuliani admission:

1. $130k payment to Stormy was in-kind coordinated contribution above limits

2. Cohen was a straw donor used to cover up true source of contribution

3. False statements on financial disclosures

4. False statements on banking forms

by Anonymousreply 110May 3, 2018 5:20 AM

Didn’t Clinton get impeached because he lied ? How many times has The Orange Bastard done the same?

by Anonymousreply 111May 3, 2018 5:27 AM

Rudy is clearly trying to do a magician's slight of hand trick and distract us from what he's really afraid of.

The issue isn't whether or not Trump paid Cohen back, it's where Cohen got the money in the first place, and if the need to distract us is so important it's worth dragging Trump into it directly, that tells you the money probably came from the campaign.

From R108:

This is pretty damning. Rudy is an idiot for ever uttering these words. What the fuck was he thinking? You have tRump admitting on national television to Lester Holt that he fired Comey because of "this Russia thing" and now we have Rudy saying essentially the same thing. Looks like a fairly clear case of obstruction.

It will be delightful to see the sputtering Ghouliani try and explain his way out of this.

Michael Avenatti tweeted that Trump absolutely will resign, no way will he survive this.

I love Michael Avenatti.

by Anonymousreply 130May 3, 2018 2:07 PM

I sure hope so, R130. I think he'll wait until the midterms are over to see how that shakes out for him. His ego would never allow him to be impeached and if the GOP wants to survive, they'll urge him to resign by letting him know he will have to run as an independent if he want re-election. This is some weird ass shit we're going through as a country and it will get weirder.

I love Michael Avenatti, too, R130, and he's the sharkiest lawyer I've ever seen. So much respect for Stormy and her choices. GO STORMY!

According to the NYT, Trump was well aware of what Giuliani was going to say to Hannity regarding the Stormy Daniels payment, so it's clear - as others noted - that the admission was to get around any possible campaign fund violation issue. Since Trump lies constantly, what's one more to his base and to the GOP?

by Anonymousreply 134May 3, 2018 2:35 PM

Trump double-crossed Stormy on a promise she would get a gig appearing on The Apprentice. Big mistake. She's not dumb, and has Avenatti as her lawyer who is aggressive, smart, articulate, photogenic, and popular with the media and many viewers.

by Anonymousreply 137May 3, 2018 2:43 PM

R134, all we know from the NYT article is that, for now, the Trump teams wants us to think Trump was aware of what Giuliani was going to say. That doesn't mean it's true.

by Anonymousreply 138May 3, 2018 2:43 PM

OK, R138, but given how Trump goes off at a moment's notice, for his team to try and make us believe that would be a fool's errand. Trump does not like having his own team make him out as a liar on TV and all he would do is contradict that narrative with a single tweet.

They watched, agog, as Giuliani, the president’s recently installed personal attorney, freestyled on live television Wednesday night about the president’s legal troubles and unveiled an explosive new fact: that Trump reimbursed his longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, for the $130,000 paid to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels to ensure her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump.

Aides and advisers to the president — who were scrambling Thursday morning to manage the fallout of Giuliani’s interview with Sean Hannity, a Trump-friendly Fox News Channel host — expressed a mixture of exasperation and horror. One White House official texted a reporter a string of emoji characters in response, including a tiny container of popcorn.

A second White House official, who like most others interviewed for this story spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive topic, said of the president, “His story is obviously not consistent anymore.”

The episode was just the latest convulsion for a White House that perpetually navigates turbulence, careening from one crisis to another, most of them of the president’s own making. It has become standard operating procedure for Trump and his aides to deceive the public with false statements and shifting accounts.

“It’s about time that our public officials started telling us the truth,” said one former Trump adviser who remains close to the White House. “There is nobody in America who didn’t think the president had the affair with the porn star. I doubt there’s anybody in America who didn’t think the president had Michael Cohen pay off the porn star.” .....

Tony Carbonetti, a longtime friend and adviser to Giuliani, said he was dining with the former New York mayor on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Wednesday night before he went on Fox. “We thought it was a quick hit and he was coming right back,” Carbonetti said, adding that Giuliani returned to the dinner table around 10:15 p.m. and seemed pleased with how the interview went.

Carbonetti warned that those lampooning Giuliani are mistaken.

“If you’ve been around Rudy, there’s always a reason for it,” he said. “If you knew a narrative was coming out, wouldn’t you want to tell the story on your terms? . . . He wanted to get ahead of it.” ....

R209 cont.

Sam Nunberg, a former political adviser to Trump, said that the president’s “typical knee-jerk reaction to everything is deny, deny, deny” but that his lawyers have impressed upon him the importance of being truthful when he is the subject of a federal investigation.

“The president has to understand that what he did in the private sector, as a mogul, celebrity and entrepreneur, where you can simply deny things in the press — when you’re under federal investigation, the FBI and Justice Department takes everything that is said publicly literally,” Nunberg said. “So I think they’re cleaning this mess up. ....

But if Trump was upset with his lawyer’s performance, he did not show it. Indeed, the president was party to hatching the strategy, according to three people involved in the discussions. In recent weeks — over phone calls, dinners and private Oval Office huddles — Giuliani and Trump have talked through the thicket of legal issues facing the president beyond the Russia investigation, these people said.

Once on board, Giuliani spent days reading and being briefed about the many issues facing Trump, including the Cohen case and the payments made by Cohen to Daniels. Giuliani and Trump decided that it would be best to try to explain why Trump and Cohen acted as they did and clarify their business relationship, the people said.

Giuliani, in particular, viewed potential federal scrutiny of election law as an issue that Trump had to address head-on rather than dodge because he believed that it could fester in the coming months, according to one person who spoke with him last month. This person added that Trump was prone to trust Giuliani’s position because they had bonded privately over their shared frustrations with the Justice Department, and both men wanted to run a more combative, freewheeling media campaign.

“Rudy and Trump are talking by phone, and others aren’t in the loop,” one senior White House official said.

Cohen’s attorney, Stephen M. Ryan, has been aware of Trump’s repayment for several weeks, possibly months, according to a person familiar with Cohen’s account. Cohen was averse to sharing this information publicly because he didn’t want to appear to be contradicting Trump’s denial in early April that he knew about the payment.

Neither White House counsel Donald McGahn nor Emmet Flood, the White House attorney recently hired to handle the Russia investigation, knew that Trump had reimbursed Cohen before Giuliani revealed it, according to a person familiar with their knowledge.

McGahn and Flood also were not informed in advance of Giuliani’s plan to disclose the repayment information in his Fox interview, nor were other senior aides in the White House. The communications and media staff run by press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not book Giuliani’s appearance on Hannity’s show and were not involved in helping him strategize his talking points.

Asked about White House officials being caught off guard by his disclosure, Giuliani told CNN on Thursday: “They were. There was no way they wouldn’t be. The president is my client. I don’t talk to them.”

Meanwhile in Paul Ryan's playpen:

The Rev. Patrick J. Conroy, the House chaplain who announced his resignation under pressure last month, informed Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) Thursday that he wanted to rescind his offer and remain in his position at least through the end of this year.

In a two-page letter, Conroy informed Ryan that he gave in to pressure from the speaker’s staff when he agreed in mid-April to resign, believing that Ryan had the power to fire him, but the chaplain now believes he was pressured into the resignation for lack of cause.

Special counsel Robert Mueller on Thursday filed a request for 70 blank subpoenas in the Eastern District of Virginia on Thursday, where former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is facing charges including tax fraud and failing to report foreign bank accounts.

The two-page filing reveals that each subpoena recipient must appear in the Alexandria, Va., courthouse on July 10 to testify in the case.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Earlier today, NBC News reported that there was a wiretap on the phones of Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal attorney, citing two separate sources with knowledge of the legal proceedings involving Cohen.

But three senior U.S. officials now dispute that, saying that the monitoring of Cohen’s phones was limited to a log of calls, known as a pen register, not a wiretap where investigators can actually listen to calls.

NBC News has changed the headline and revised parts of the original article.

Human trafficking in the Cohen case I still believe. It is outside the scope of the Mueller investigation and serious enough to be a big case in the SDNY. Why else would Giuliani be copping to multiple pay-offs to multiple women on Trump’s behalf. Better to have people think he was buying women’s silence than have them think he was buying women. He probably offered Stormy the opportunity to sale her wares through his modeling agency or act as a Madam or procurer.

Nancy Pelosi is wisely staying out of this, r237. Guiliani is doing her work for her.

r226, Rachel had a delightful expose about the Manafort payments received from the Ukrainian Putin Puppet government. All of then were routed through CYPRESS.

by Anonymousreply 240May 3, 2018 10:14 PM

Well, if Nancy is going to sit on her ass, she better ensure that Democrats win big in November and immediately start impeachment proceedings

by Anonymousreply 241May 3, 2018 10:26 PM

What do you suggest Nancy Pelosi do, R241?

by Anonymousreply 242May 3, 2018 10:28 PM

Nancy is not sitting on her ass, she is raising huge, boatloads of cash for 2018 candidates.

Nancy is ensuring that she becomes the first female 25th Amendment president.

by Anonymousreply 244May 3, 2018 10:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 248May 3, 2018 10:42 PM

Shouldn't Rudy Giuliani be a subject of interest in this investigation rather than Trump's defense attorney? It was Rudy collaborating with a couple of FBI agents in the NYC field office whereby he bragged about inside knowledge in regards to re-opening the investigation of Hillary's Emails before such was officially announced. There were several other instances he bragged about inside knowledge per HRC. Rudy was part of the campaign for awhile. He ran in the same circles as many of the shady people who were attached to Trump. Was it a preemptive move for Rudy to join Trump's defense apparatus? Rudy has some explaining to do about some of his own sleazy actions.

by Anonymousreply 249May 3, 2018 10:46 PM

R246, Democrats talking about Trump and the Mueller probe would only be more fuel for Republican talking points about this being a “witch hunt”. Mueller is doing his job, and a new Trump lie is discovered every day.

BWHAHAHAHAHA.........Just as I suspected.....the DOJ is covering their ass regarding the wiretap of Cohen........per Preet Bharara, disclosing a wiretap is a felony.....BUT a pen register is used to develop evidence sufficient to obtain a wiretap. Basically, there is a wiretap, and they used the pen register to obtain it......they obtained both months ago.

by Anonymousreply 253May 3, 2018 11:00 PM

R251, you are correct. Most of the country is opposed to uncontrollable, illegal imigration. Hillary ran too far to the left on this issue; and it cost her. She was way more moderate on the issue in 2008.

Her stance on illegal immigration in 2016 was to the left of Obama. It was a net loss in votes on this matter. Democrats need to have a moderate/balanced policy done and off the table. If not, it is a huge gift for Republicans.

What struck me was just how stupid and sad all these fucktards seem to be. He seemed eager to get his story out there and at the same time sounded like a bumbling moron. When asked if he regrets having anything to do with the Drumpf campaign now (apparently it has cost over $125,000 in legal fees which he says is more than he makes a year).

His response was that he thinks Drumpf is great and he's 110% behind him and he's worked with Drumpf since the 80s and tried to get him to run for Governor of NY, blah blah blah.... and then said his wife begged him not to have anything to do with the campaign but he didn't listen and yeah, he guesses he should have and he wishes that he did but.. Regards the U.S. Congress - the Democratic party only needs to take 23 seats in the house. The party could easily achieve that since three dozen Republicans have said they won't run again. And they only need a couple in the senate to completely lock up the legislature - sort of like the Reagan years where the Democrats had congress - and the great Tip O'Neill was the speaker. And the Lion of f the Senate Ted Kenedy did his schtick to stick it to Reagan too.

As to who the great senators will be for this one, I think Sheldon Whitehouse will be one - he's starting to trace the money. Obdisclaimer I was his I.T. Director when he was RI Attorney General. Another one to watch is Cory Booker.

by Anonymousreply 270May 4, 2018 12:07 AM

R268. Yes. Sessions is very popular in Alabama and with a portion of conservatives throughout much of the country. In the Senate, on a personal level, he has a number of Democrat friends. Sessions is indeed slick and was not candid during much of his confirmation testimony. Had he not recused himself with the Russia investigation, doubtful he would still be in the AG role.

by Anonymousreply 271May 4, 2018 12:36 AM

r264 that and to save his own ass, now he knows Trump's strategy and if his defense could spell trouble for Rudy. He talked to Mueller under the guise of ending the investigation. I bet Mueller let him know they have proof Trump paid Cohen, at least Rudy isn't one of these idiots willing to go down for Trump, he will just play dumb like "oops, should I not have said that, what is wrong with me?" He spilled the beans on paying Cohen for a reason, and I don't think it was to help Trump.

by Anonymousreply 272May 4, 2018 1:18 AM

But you know that.

by Anonymousreply 290May 4, 2018 4:37 AM

R290 Yes, illegal immigration is just the talking point. They want to reverse the ominous demographic trend of whites becoming less than 50% of the population. That's like an end-of-the-world crisis in these people's mind. Hence, Trump's tantrum about getting immigrants from "shithole" countries instead of Europe.

by Anonymousreply 291May 4, 2018 5:15 AM

r290 and r291 I read of a doctor who was detained for possible deportation. He was white, he legally immigrated to the US with his family when he was eight years old, but he committed a crime in his teen years and although the local courts wiped clean his juvenile criminal record, ICE came for him over thirty years later. I admit I'm scratching my head about how deporting white physicians who've acclimated to the US and are productive residents helps allay the fears of American-born whites becoming less than 50% of the population. Some Trump fan who's 100% in favour of escalated ICE raids and detentions of legal residents regardless of colour needs to explain that to me.

by Anonymousreply 331May 4, 2018 4:37 PM

^^^^if true, then he will be removed. Judges cannot exhibit obvious bias prior to a trial. He obviously did not want to preside over the downfall of his idol.

by Anonymousreply 332May 4, 2018 4:37 PM

Hope so, R332, because he was way out of line!

by Anonymousreply 333May 4, 2018 4:52 PM

I think the judge was just another example of conservative frustration with the obvious prospect of facing yet another impeachment trial for a sitting GOP president. Poor babies.

by Anonymousreply 334May 4, 2018 4:55 PM

The judge is obviously unaware with the special powers granted to an IC. Furthermore, this is well established legal doctrine. If in the course of an investigation evidence of others crimes is uncovered, the investigation is legally obligated to turn it over to the jurisdiction in which the crime was committed. IE: you call the police for a domestic issue but they see pot growing in your window.

by Anonymousreply 335May 4, 2018 4:57 PM

Bad example, sorry, but the principle is the same: you don't ignore it.

by Anonymousreply 336May 4, 2018 5:01 PM

Yes, ut from a legal perspective he is way out of line. He was actually speculating about the "real motive" for being these charges against Manafort and that their "real motive" was to oust Trump. Now that is serious judicial overreach! But who can do anything about it? IS there a chief judge in the Virginia circuit that can reprimand him or remove him from the case? He is supposed to go where the facts lead him not speculate and add fuel to the fires that Fox News has stoked. What an asshole. Now. What's the process to stop him? Are any of our Legal people around?

by Anonymousreply 337May 4, 2018 5:02 PM

Right, R337, his ONLY job is to look at the facts in the case, not make political speculations. A Reagan appointee? He must be ancient. Maybe it's time for a senility check.

From the Daily Beast: Qatar’s mission to the United Nations bought an apartment valued at $6.5 million in New York’s Trump World Tower on Jan. 17, one month after a judge ruled that President Donald Trump was not violating the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution when receiving Qatari rent. Before the sale, the Qatari government owned three other units in Trump World Tower, bringing the total of its purchases in the building to $16.5 million. The governments of Afghanistan, India, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia were already paying in excess of $225,000 a month in charges in the building.

These conservatives need to be careful what they wish for......Mueller could decide to make it public, and in it will basically state that TRUMP and assoc have committed TREASON. Its not that big of a deal....and court observers have noted that this judge tends to go off on the side hes going to side with in order to sustain the record and insure there is no bias.......but of course, the right wing will spin it into something else completely.........and if by chance the document leaks, then we need to revolt because that indicates a coup.

NOTEWORTHY! Judge T.S. Ellis, who attacked the Special Counsel in the Paul Manafort case, also happens to be the same Judge who ruled in favor of the Republicans and called for "No new vote" after 147 voters were disenfranchised in Virginia's House of Delegates election.

by Anonymousreply 345May 4, 2018 6:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 346May 4, 2018 6:45 PM

Trump wants an escape from the investigation and potential prosecution. Civil unrest would be a distraction that would fit the bill. Riling up the right-wing to be combative with the moderates to left, who are frustrated and angry themselves, would generate the disarray he would seek to exploit. His fervent supporters would embrace a Trump coup.

The only patriotism the Republican Congress is showing is to the Koch Industries Company flag, the NRA, and to Mother Russia.

by Anonymousreply 353May 4, 2018 7:45 PM

His decision in Virginia House of Delegates election was horrible. And very political. He handed the Republicans the majority ( by 1) of the House of Delegates. Which has resulted in a whole bunch of horrible legislation or lack of legislation. Voters were tricked and not allowed a chance to actually vote. The whole thing was dirty.

R356 Regarding the Nobel Peace Prize... Please forgive me for saying this, but I think they lost credibility when they gave it to Obama. He hadn't even accomplished anything yet! It just seemed really silly and gave his detractors more reason to criticize.

Obama himself seemed embarrassed when he was awarded and might not disagree with me. I could have seen them give it to him in 2011 after he ended the war in Iraq, (although not really), or reversing Bush's torture policies, but the timing was so premature.

And we know it's the only reason Trump is campaigning for it. Had the Nobel Committee awarded it to Obama maybe halfway thru his presidency, (when it made more sense!), the Trumpians wouldn't be embarrassingly pushing for it now.

Anybody else agree?

Right now a big part of the Republican strategy is to make Trump look Presidential. Thus he is going to the UK in July. He is meeting with NK in May...or so we've been told. He has a full blown, multi-level coordinated strategy rolling out the go on the attack with Mueller and the FBI. Discredit them, demonize them, etc. They are not going to just roll over. They are going to fight inch by inch to hang on to as much of the House as they can. Senate too. I don't trust Judge Ellis. Not at all. I thought his attack on Mueller's team was completely out of line. There are any number of ways he could have framed his question without all that "you're trying to oust Trump" crap. He should have simply asked why they were bringing stuff about illegal payments or fraud or WTF ever involving Manafort's activities related to the Ukraine to his court as part of the Trump Russia investigation, when it might have been referred to another court/district as they did with Cohen? I'd assume the answer is because this is part of the Russia investigation. Now I watch Maddow so I know that Manafort was in hock to the Oligarch and it involved his losing his "revenue stream" from the Ukraine debacle ( which, incidentally, gives me hope) and Manafort planned on compensating the Oligarch and win him over again by showing him how they could work together (collude) around the Trump Presidential campaign victory. Manafort was riding high with his Russian buddies because he thought he would be the main layer in a Trump White House. Can the judge not figure that out? Or has he spent too much time listening to Sean Hannity?

by Anonymousreply 401May 5, 2018 12:45 PM

Its depressing to think that someone intelligent enough to go through law school and become a judge can be swayed by blatant, untruthful propaganda, too.
Had the Nobel Committee awarded it to Obama maybe halfway thru his presidency, (when it made more sense!), [bold]the Trumpians wouldn't be embarrassingly pushing for it now.[/bold]

You presume that they are capable of being embarrassed. They aren't. They have absolutely no shame. They are first-class, Grade A hypocrites.

I would not be concerned about Judge Ellis. Rosenstein gave Mueller very broad authority to prosecute any crimes that he might uncover in the course of his investigation. In part, he did that for precisely the reasons that underlie the judge's questions: the prosecutor may use the threat of criminal prosecution to "flip" a defendant. There is nothing illegal about that; it happens every day in every jurisdiction in the country with the full approval of the criminal justice system.

And, you cannot always predict what a judge is thinking about simply by the tone and tenor of the questions asked during oral argument.

My husband (retired lawyer in Virginia) says Ellis has always been controversial.

by Anonymousreply 405May 5, 2018 1:41 PM

The issue that Ellis has is that he only has a redacted order as well.....according to the paperwork filed, he feels he doesnt have jurisdiction, NOT that there is no case......thats why he wants an unredacted order within 2 weeks and will rule then......hes looking for clarification .....thats all.....its no big deal. Remember, Mueller and co are keeping a tight lid on everything WITH EVERYBODY, including the judges, in order to not tip their hat to possible defendants who are going to great means to find info (i.e. Nunes, HIC, etc)......basically it will come down to Mueller having to make a choice about releasing SOME information about what his case is about..........and it wont be good for Trump and co and will create a shitstorm.

by Anonymousreply 406May 5, 2018 1:52 PM

The investigation should be pretty far along at this point, no?

by Anonymousreply 407May 5, 2018 1:58 PM

Before people get too optimistic about Mueller's investigation:

Trump has boasted that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in NYC and his base won't care.

Michael Cohen has stated that he would take a bullet for Trump.

Trump will shoot Cohen in broad daylight on 5th Avenue, hindering that aspect of the investigation.

Evangelicals will remind us--"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"--and then continue to support their president.

It is noticed that most Republicans in the Senate, and a good many in the House, are refraining from serious criticism and trying to undermine the Mueller investigation. It is those vocal and aggressive tea Party types that are attacking the investigation in an uncontrolled, and underhanded way. Nunes, Jim Jordan, Meadows, Gaetz, Biggs, and a couple of dozen others are the ones resorting to devious tactics, and are adament to derail the investigation. In the Senate, Grassley, Graham, Hatch, and a few others, to varying degrees, have tried to counter the DOJ or pressure/question the DOJ or Special Counsel in behalf of DJT.

Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are failures in keeping matters ethical aND responsible. They can't get beyond partisanship in doing their jobs.

by Anonymousreply 411May 5, 2018 3:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 412May 5, 2018 3:48 PM

From the Palmer Report. Trump being broke would be the ultimate outcome of all this.

Giuliani’s performance during the Sean Hannity show on Fox News this week was so startling that it was easy to miss some of the finer details. By our count, Rudy admitted that Donald Trump committed at least five different felonies, ranging from illegal election payoffs to obstruction of justice. When Rudy acknowledged that Trump did in fact reimburse Michael Cohen for the $130,000 payout to Stormy Daniels, he stated that Trump paid him back in monthly installments over the course of a year.

Trump owed Cohen a debt of $130,000, yet Trump had to resort to twelve monthly payments to pay it back to him. If Trump were a billionaire, he’d have been able to write a check for a mere $130,000 without missing a beat. Instead it took him a year to gradually get that money back to Cohen. This would the equivalent of a working class person needing a full year to gradually repay a debt of thirteen dollars.

By Rudy Giuliani’s own admission, Donald Trump is so cash-poor that he can’t safely afford to pay out $130,000 at a time. When people with billions in assets are that cash-poor, it’s because they’re so upside down on their assets and so deeply in debt, they can’t get their hands on cash. Their income goes directly to debt service so their assets aren’t repossessed. It means their debts are larger than the value of their assets. It means they have a negative net worth. That’s the case with Donald Trump. He’s not a billionaire, not a millionaire, not even a thousandaire. He’s just flat broke.

I wouldn't be surprised if R413 is dead-on.

Trump filed for an extension on his 2018 tax return. I can only guess this was done to keep its contents out of Mueller's hands as long as possible. There must be something juicy in there...

by Anonymousreply 415May 5, 2018 4:40 PM

I thought the installments were deliberately kept small in order to not get flagged? I mean if Trump had money problems he just wouldn't have paid the guy (Trump is well known to stiff contractors, so why not lawyers?) whom, according to reports, he treats like a doormat and yet Cohen comes back for more.

by Anonymousreply 416May 5, 2018 4:54 PM

The idea that a micromanaging blowhard like Trump doesn't know why he is paying Cohen money in such a way is hilarious. He knew and he knew it was illegal otherwise he wouldn't have used Cohen and reimbursed Cohen that way.

by Anonymousreply 417May 5, 2018 4:57 PM

r416.....he claims it was for legal fees and expenses.....why would he need to make installments if that were true ?

by Anonymousreply 420May 5, 2018 5:17 PM

Trump or someone close to Trump maybe Rudy claimed Cohen was a retainer and got $35, 000 a month,. Then we hear another version where the $35,000 a month is reimbursement for the pay off of Stormy. And do remember when Trump claimed Coehn did very little for him. A "tiny fraction" of his legal work. etc. etc.etc There are so many lils out there you can just pick the one you want to believe.

by Anonymousreply 421May 5, 2018 5:53 PM

Stormy may get him in the end, but I don't think that's the biggest story related to Trump and Cohen and money.

Stormy only got $130,000.

Wall Street Journal reports during the campaign, Cohen took out lines of credit to get to as much as $774,000.

Rudy tells NBC Trump paid Cohen at least $420,000 for that one payment to Stormy. (Trump sent Cohen extra for incidentals and what-not according to Rudy).

McClatchy reported they have sources saying Cohen *did* go to Prague in the summer of 2016.

After he's raided, Cohen drops his lawsuit against Buzzfeed for defamation for publishing the Steele Dossier which alleges he went to Prague.

Aventi says the FBI got wind that Cohen was planning to destroy evidence.

From the Steele Dossier about Cohen's meeting in EU with Russians:

[bold]According to [redacted], the agenda comprised questions on how deniable cash payments were to be made to hackers who had worked in Europe under Kremlin direction against the CLINTON campaign and various contingencies for covering up these operations and Moscow’s secret liaison with the TRUMP team more generally.[/bold]

by Anonymousreply 422May 5, 2018 5:54 PM

If Cohen went to Prague, was he paying off Russian hackers? That's what a lot of people seem to think.

by Anonymousreply 423May 5, 2018 6:07 PM

One thing about what Judge Ellis did with his attitude and questions that was interesting and covered by Rachel the other night was that he forced the prosecution to say why they gave Cohen's case to New York but kept Manafort's under their own purview. The answer was that Manafort's bank fraud and money laundering were directly connected to the Russian investigation into the Trump campaign while Cohen's crimes were not directly connected to the Russia investigation so they gave New York the case (although there are probably more Cohen crimes, too, that are involved in the Russian investigation that have yet to be brought forth that Mueller's team will be happy to keep hold of).

In other words, if Manafort is guilty, they're all guilty...and Manafort is guilty.

R422 it all makes sense. The dossier has proven so far to be true. I’m sure that is why Trump,is freaking out about Cohen. Again Occam’s razor would dictate the obvious answer is most likely the truth.

by Anonymousreply 427May 5, 2018 7:27 PM

It's so nice to have a President wit trubbles like youses!

R431 SHS hasn't shown any sign of a conscience up to now. So why start now? But at some point Trump will throw her under the bus, since someone like her is meant to be used and abused, and totally expendable.

by Anonymousreply 451May 6, 2018 4:49 AM

Poor bus.

by Anonymousreply 452May 6, 2018 5:01 AM

R451 I think she's disgusting and I think her political ideology is disgusting. She is her father's daughter but I think she was a true believer. She idealized Trump and she fully subscribed to whatever the Religious Right peddles. So I think right now she finds her own situation untenable. But I don't want her to quit I want her to stay and get shit from the reporters every fucking day. I want her to realize no one likes her or trusts her or respects her.

by Anonymousreply 453May 6, 2018 5:26 AM

Will add that like Sean Spicer before her, at some point she will find it difficult to live with the fact that she is the object of pubic derision and ridicule. Only she won't get any invites to be on talks shows.

by Anonymousreply 454May 6, 2018 5:28 AM

R454 Spicer is as much of a loathsome liar for Trump as SHS, but he seems to be getting a pass and even sympathy after he quit. Maybe it's male privilege or maybe it's because he took all the ridicules in stride.

by Anonymousreply 455May 6, 2018 5:41 AM

Spicer good spoofed by Melissa McCarthy on SNL. He gave them great material to work with. SHS? She doesn't deliver the same entertainment. She just lies shamelessly. And feels hurt, that someone dares to make fun of her eye shadow! What a big, fat, snowflake!

by Anonymousreply 456May 6, 2018 6:17 AM

Spicer GOT spoofed by Melissa McCarthy on SNL.

by Anonymousreply 457May 6, 2018 6:17 AM

r449, McCain knows that he will have a strategic death.

by Anonymousreply 458May 6, 2018 8:00 AM

R455 I think he seemed sympathetic because at least some days he was visibly uncomfortable with the lies. SHS seems to revel in it and DGAF that she lies with every word she says.

by Anonymousreply 459May 6, 2018 12:44 PM

I think the only reason Spicer seemed to recover, was Melissa McCarthy. She nailed him so beautifully....and he laughed about it. The substance of what he said, was equally as disgusting as SHS, but he seemed to ignore the substance which was evil, and simply traded on the style which was foolish. Remember too, that he was part of early days. Trump has been president for more than a year now. He is even uglier and meaner than we imagined. SHS comes across as sarcastic, rude and deeply dedicated to whatever Trump is selling. Even though he was a card carrying Conservative pig, Spicer never came across as governed by ideology while IMO SHS does. If she walked into a press briefing in a white choir robe and started talking in tongues no one would bat an eye.

by Anonymousreply 460May 6, 2018 1:49 PM

Spicer was palpably embarrassed by what he was doing, which was probably why he was fired. SHS displays not a hint of shame.

by Anonymousreply 461May 6, 2018 2:09 PM

Rudy Giuliani on "This Week" - Oh. My. God.

defies description...

by Anonymousreply 462May 6, 2018 2:13 PM

Spicer got some sympathy over the Vatican thing which revealed how needlessly petty Trump was but he hasn't secured a post-administration appointment AFAIK.

I don't see SHS having a career at Fox News. Besides her unappealing demeanor, she's not quick-thinking. You have to have the verbosity of Kelly Anne Conway to run with that pack. She'll disappear into some fundamentalist lobbying group set up by her father.

In addition to Devin Nunes, there is the band (did Politico mean to say gang?) of four warriors apparently willing to take any measure to undermine the DOJ and specifically the Mueller investigation. These four include Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz, and Ron DeSantis. They are from districts that voted heavily for Trump in 2016. There are others such as Louie Gohmert that fervently support Trump, but those four are particularly aggressive in pursuing strategies to upend the investigation.

R526, it's because Trump is an idiot. His fellow idiots think they are the one who can control him or make him great. Everyone else who failed is just a loser. I see this phenomenon when I've had opposing parties who are unbelievably stupid, manipulative and shameless. They always find idiot attorneys with delusions of grandeur who think they can control their clients and turn the whole case around for them. Often those attorneys end up royally screwed and begging the judge to let them get off the case.

The other explanation is Trump is surrounded by people just as dirty as he is, so they have no choice but to help him to save their own necks.

Some idiots see Trump as a challenge who can raise their profile (if they succeed). Some idiots just believe they will be rewarded either by him or someoneone close to him (Putin?).

by Anonymousreply 534May 7, 2018 3:07 PM

R506, there are a few of us who post on these threads who cannot wait to find out what Ivanka and Wendy's adventure was really about. Treason of the Witch.

by Anonymousreply 535May 7, 2018 4:23 PM

I also cannot wait to find out what kind of bag Ivanka used in her role, as I suspect, as Daddy's Bag woman. Hermes? Fendi? Chanel? We know it wasn't an Ivanka.

by Anonymousreply 536May 7, 2018 4:25 PM

I think some of these people are truly afraid for their lives. I'm talking about Manafort, and even possibly Cohen. The Russians do not play. They will kill a motherfucker. Go back and look at the long list of "suspicious deaths in the past three years alone, both in Russia and here in the USA. It's pretty obvious Cohen is mobbed up. His family goes back a ways as Russian mobsters go. But they aren't fucking around with petty rivals now. They may be in the untenable position of having to rat out someone(Trump) who is protected by some powerful forces. People keep waiting for some blackmail t apes. I don't think Trump would give a fuck about sex tapes. Shit. He's 71. No. I believe it's about money. Trump is scared that his Russian buddies will cut him off. and if he betrays Putin and turns on him, he will have more than money issues to worry about.

by Anonymousreply 537May 7, 2018 4:38 PM

The Russians may very well threaten the lives of a persons family. that's how they roll.

by Anonymousreply 538May 7, 2018 4:52 PM

Trump's Twitter posts this morning just reek, absolutely reek, of panic and terror.

I love it.

Randy Rainbow's take on Rudy for anyone who hasn't seen it. Just a little humor to brighten our Monday morning.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 541May 7, 2018 5:10 PM

Rudy seemed to suggest there may have been other payments to young ladies for their services. Another poster up thread wisely postulated that maybe the $1.6 million paid for Broidy (sic) was really for Trump.

Although trump being so cheap, that sounds rather high to be believable. Unless there was abortion involved.

by Anonymousreply 542May 7, 2018 5:18 PM

R535, some of us also wonder if that quickie "vacation" with Wendi Deng had something to do with the rumored incredibly damaging dealings Trump had with the Chinese. I mean the DOJ flat-out warned them that Deng might try to influence them on China's behalf.

by Anonymousreply 543May 7, 2018 5:27 PM

Thanks R541!!! Loved it!!! Randy is brilliant as usual.

by Anonymousreply 544May 7, 2018 5:40 PM

If I remember right, when Ivanka and Jared vacationed with Wendy - it was when she was Putin's girlfriend. But she could have been a Chinese spy that far back too. The girl got around.

by Anonymousreply 545May 7, 2018 5:45 PM

Said before, but those sons, Don Jr. and Eric, are disgusting. It takes horrible people who see killing exotic and big game as playtime.

by Anonymousreply 547May 7, 2018 6:18 PM

Yes they were, R547. It was during the campaign, and Ivanka has a newborn at home.

by Anonymousreply 548May 7, 2018 6:26 PM

What does Jared jerk off to?

by Anonymousreply 549May 7, 2018 6:28 PM

Jared jerks off to sex tapes he made getting creamed by handsome WASPS at Harvard. Daddy didn't spend those millions to leave Jared's smooth pink hole neglected by the cream of American jeunesse.

by Anonymousreply 550May 7, 2018 6:43 PM

I was a bit taken a back today at the SarahShow press conference. Some reporter actually asked if Melania even lives at the WH or rather elsewhere with her parents. Now that takes balls to ask. Maybe that will give these spineless reporters the confidence to hammer her on other subjects as well.

Pin her down on her lies.

by Anonymousreply 551May 7, 2018 7:00 PM

I grew up in an evangelical church and have seen SHS's story a hundred times. She's been subservient, doting, fawning girl/daughter/wife/mother her whole life. Now the WH press room is her fiefdom and she can let fly with her passive-aggressive anger AND get praise from big, strict Daddy. She's not sweating Trump's integrity in any regard.

The only TRUTH 'Christian Warriors' care about is 'the way, the truth and the life'. They're groomed to compartmentalize and rationalize and justify. There is a term in sociological development, I forget what it's called, where at the end of a person's journey they might throw away care for rules and laws because they want their own way for themselves and everyone else. Today's Evangelicals are taught that very early in life.

I'll eat my hat if SHS quits for any reason other than exhaustion or frustration. She's on a righteous mission for all those daddies up the chain.

by Anonymousreply 552May 7, 2018 7:11 PM

Jared Kushner's job is to bring mideast peace, reform government, solve the opioid crisis, reform the criminal justice system, and being a liaison to the Muslim community, a liaison to China, and a liaison to Mexico.

Is there a progress report?

by Anonymousreply 553May 7, 2018 7:16 PM
Is there a progress report?

Thanks to Wendi Deng he can now find China on a map. Still working on Mexico, and don't even get me started on the Middle East.

by Anonymousreply 554May 7, 2018 7:20 PM

553, just so you know, Jared is extremely popular in the Muslim Community due to his ceaseless outreach. There is even a mosque in Detroit called In'shala al Jared.

by Anonymousreply 555May 7, 2018 7:25 PM
Is this Phony Witch Hunt going to go on even longer so it wrongfully impacts the Mid-Term Elections, which is what the Democrats always intended?

If it's so phony it'll have no impact, and Fox can proclaim the glory of Trump so he prevails. Odd that Trump is so exercised about an investigation which in his version can only exonerate him of all suspicion. Which would possibly make it non-phony. Trumpland in its way is like quantum physics.

by Anonymousreply 556May 7, 2018 7:33 PM

So maybe some of that extra money Cohen got went to Black Cube as well as abortions and hackers? It was certainly going somewhere that has Trump going out of his tree more than usual, and he wouldn't be this panicked if it was just women, even if they had abortions. His supporters certainly don't care. The Jesus freaks would explain it all away. Cohen did something highly illegal with that money.

by Anonymousreply 557May 7, 2018 7:43 PM

She continually says there is no collusion, no obstruction, no there.....there. That Mueller has found NOTHING!!!

Why haven’t the press asked her how she knows this? Is there a back channel to the Mueller investigation they have that verifies this? Has he found nothing and let them know? Otherwise, she is a liar and the press lets her get away with it.

Very frustrating. Take the gloves off, press. Put that hag and the WH on boil.

by Anonymousreply 558May 7, 2018 7:51 PM

Fun! The Reality Show is making an Important Announcement about Iran tomorrow at 2pm ET.

by Anonymousreply 559May 7, 2018 7:52 PM

Wendi Deng was married to Rupert Murdoch and has close relations to Putin. It was suspious timing and circumstances for the Kushners to have traveled abroad and meet with her and whomever else. Ivanka just had a newborn. Isn't that a critical time for parental bonding?

by Anonymousreply 560May 7, 2018 8:15 PM

^suspicious

by Anonymousreply 561May 7, 2018 8:17 PM

This thing is making me sick. I am so worried that Mueller and Rosenstein will be fired soon and the Republicans will let it go and the Democrats won't be able to do anything. Cohen won't flip because he knows it's only a matter of a few years before Trump pardons him and Trump, once again gets away Scot free. As a pundit on MSNBC just said we might be about to find out how the checks and balances work and how strong the constitution really is. It's only as strong as the people elected to support it and the Republicans in office right now will go down in infamy as the worst.

What can we, the ordinary citizen, do to protest this. To let the congress no they won't survive t.hese disgusting actions. At this point I'm just beyond depressed and hopeless.

by Anonymousreply 562May 7, 2018 8:48 PM

Vote Democrats in, weak as they are.

by Anonymousreply 563May 7, 2018 9:00 PM

VOTE Democrat. There's no real alternative. I don't agree with a few of the Democratic party positions, but Trump and the GOP are damaging the country bigtime with their corruption, incompetence, dismal policies, and by undermining the judiciary.

by Anonymousreply 564May 7, 2018 9:46 PM

I'm sure this has been said countless times in countless forms... But I just heard someone on the radio say:

"The #1 Enemy of the United States is the Republican Party."

Complete truth.

by Anonymousreply 565May 7, 2018 10:00 PM

The greatest threat to the world is the Republican Party, period.

r567.....The GOP was corrupt LONG before they aligned themselves with Putin.

by Anonymousreply 568May 7, 2018 10:57 PM

Is it me or is Putin looking a little botoxy? How old is this ghoul/our new leader?

by Anonymousreply 569May 7, 2018 10:59 PM

R568... did anyone say they weren't?

by Anonymousreply 570May 7, 2018 11:07 PM

You said they were nothing without their puppeteer......did I not read that correctly ?

by Anonymousreply 571May 7, 2018 11:09 PM

I just heard a clip of Avenatti talking about Ghouliani's poor attempt at trying to cover for Drumpf when he said that Drumpf has always had a legal slush fund to pay off people, like Stormy.

He basically pointed out that if that were the case, why would Cohen have needed to set up a brand new LLC to make the payment to Stormy.

by Anonymousreply 572May 7, 2018 11:09 PM

Saying they aren't currently anything without their current puppet master does not mean they weren't corrupt before.

by Anonymousreply 573May 7, 2018 11:10 PM

None of them can keep their lies straight. They can't even be bothered to make sure they make even the slightest bit of sense.

by Anonymousreply 574May 7, 2018 11:11 PM

Rethugs have always been corrupt but they're certainly now at the mercy of their financier.

by Anonymousreply 575May 7, 2018 11:12 PM

Download some boilerplate FLOTUS shit off the intertubes and give it to Melania to keep her busy.

by Anonymousreply 576May 7, 2018 11:15 PM

R574, I think they do it to confuse and obfuscate. I also believe Ghouliana is focusing on the Daniel's affair to distract from the totality of the payments to others. Not everyone watching this has the attention span of a gnat, so it's obvious to me that they're playing to their 'base.'

by Anonymousreply 577May 7, 2018 11:16 PM

Wait.. did we discuss, "Be Best..."

Certainly we're not going to overlook that, are we?

Honestly, R578, do we have to? There is a thread connected to it, but the crazy of this woman is becoming more apparent with everything she puts out there.

by Anonymousreply 580May 7, 2018 11:19 PM

Yes, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned it here.

by Anonymousreply 581May 7, 2018 11:19 PM

Why would we? This isn't a thread about the First Lady or her initiatives and that initiative doesn't have anything to do with treason, the Mueller investigation, money-laundering, etc.

by Anonymousreply 582May 7, 2018 11:20 PM

BE BEST, JUST SAY NO.

by Anonymousreply 583May 7, 2018 11:20 PM

Yeah, R582 because we haven't discussed a myriad of other things in these threads. Just the scope of the investigation.

by Anonymousreply 584May 7, 2018 11:21 PM

Launder 1/2 a billion of Russian money with Deutsche Bank. Who cares? Now the king of debt pays cash. Ivanka seals the deals. Who's ever going to look?

Set up that tie line in Trump Tower direct to Moscow. Who's looking? No-one. And who cares if they are?

But Merkel LURVS her Deutsche Bank. So how could her hands be clean.

They are all one dirty gross human centipede cabal. Merkel is rimming the Saudi Crown Prince, and Jared is sucking him at the same time, while petrol billions pour out the shitters of the Middle East into the mouths of corrupt puppets who then shit them into secret bank accounts.

by Anonymousreply 585May 7, 2018 11:21 PM

I didn't even catch the Be Best thing until this afternoon. Jesus, too much to cringe about.

by Anonymousreply 586May 7, 2018 11:23 PM

The thing about Putin is, while he's dangerous, without a corrupt and treasonously complicit GOP he's not that much of a threat. Militarily, other than nukes, and economically, Russia is no superpower. If the US were to apply the sanctions that should already be in place, Putin's empire would shrivel up and die.
