Dangerous Tre'asons (The Mueller Investigation Part 23)

Continued discussion.

Which one is Merteuil and which is Valmont?

Either way... someone's getting pissed on. (Does the Fixer clean that mess up too?)

Like this thread title. Keep them coming.

by Anonymousreply 3April 22, 2018 8:00 PM

I can only hope this little movie ends with Trump getting booed in public, going home and wiping the orange off his face while a single tear trickles down his cheek.

Or, failing that, jail.

by Anonymousreply 4April 22, 2018 8:03 PM

Love this thread title too!

In the future can we just allow the OP to start the threads if possible? I like that OP takes down all of our suggestions and posts them accordingly (in terms of trying to match them up with current events). People starting the new threads so early just so they can get their title up is annoying. Just put your suggestion in and wait! OP has shown that he/she will use them when the time comes!

by Anonymousreply 5April 22, 2018 8:05 PM

I love you, R4.

by Anonymousreply 6April 22, 2018 8:11 PM

Trump has always had a dirty, smelly greasiness attached to him. His father did, too. Sleazy grease. Now his sons have the greasy look. Even Barron has it.

by Anonymousreply 7April 22, 2018 8:27 PM

Remember this time last year, when we were all so hopeful that this regime would be done for by the autumn? And the worst part is, I can totally see myself saying this exact same thing a year hence.

by Anonymousreply 8April 22, 2018 8:31 PM

WHET the investigation into Jay Sekulow and his family? They pay themselves millions from his phony charity, which is plainly against the law. It was “being looked into” last year and then it disappeared

by Anonymousreply 9April 22, 2018 8:34 PM

OP, is #22 your thread too?

Fake Russian Concern Troll at R8 Alert!

by Anonymousreply 11April 22, 2018 8:35 PM

The trolls really are desperate, bumping dozens of old threads about Sarah Palin, Piers Morgan, Ann Coulter, etc. trying to bury the threads with the good stuff.

by Anonymousreply 12April 22, 2018 9:08 PM

Then I'm bumping this one. Just to show them.

by Anonymousreply 13April 22, 2018 9:30 PM

The nine justices of the U.S. Supreme Court will take their seats Tuesday morning to hear a case that could remake the political map of Texas.

This week, Texas will move to center stage as the Supreme Court takes up Abbott v. Perez, a gerrymandering case that adds a racial overlay to the usual partisan redistricting narrative.

"It's important for the political process in Texas that ultimately they draw fair districts, which means that as the population changes and grows, the political jurisdictions reflect the people in those districts," said U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, who represents a majority-minority district in central Houston.

by Anonymousreply 15April 22, 2018 9:35 PM

You know all of these gerrymandering cases that are now making their way through the court system are a result of Obama and Eric Holder, right? It's what they chose to focus on after leaving office. Not sexy, but effective! Next up, the other unsexy but politics altering, campaign finance reform.

by Anonymousreply 16April 22, 2018 10:15 PM

Wow there really are a lot of trolls on DL this weekend. Several of them claiming to be from PA, OH and WI!!! And yet couldn't point to those states on a map if one was sent to them with a bottle of Vodka.

Something must be coming this week.

by Anonymousreply 17April 22, 2018 10:17 PM

Why isn't KellyAnne under indictment? God, she is a pig.

by Anonymousreply 18April 22, 2018 10:19 PM

Ole Kellyanne and the breaking the Hatch Act rules. Something is coming as she was out spinning and deflecting.

But give her credit, her pussy thread maxed out.

by Anonymousreply 20April 22, 2018 10:28 PM

I cant believe that Devin Nunes is still at it....and now claiming there was no intelligence from any agency...even 5eyes....that was used to open the Trump/Russia investigation.......that it was Hillary co-conspirators in the State Dept and they were funneling false information to the FBI under the direction of Hillary.

Why doesnt anybody stop this idiot ?.....talk about desperate.

I’m not seeing all these trolls being spoken of. At least not in this thread. I don’t think it’s “concern trolling” because someone mentions their disappointment that Trump is still here. I’m disappointed, too. That makes me a troll? I agree that it sometimes feels hopeless when all this horseshit is tumbling down on the country - stuff that would have entombed anyone else in office - and nothing gets done about it. There’s a shitstorm on Twitter, then everyone goes back to letting this train wreck happen. It should’ve been stopped a long time ago, but the media couldn’t wait to get Trump into office so they could have ratings for 4 years.

I wish Trump would just fucking die. His children don’t have the evil cunning he has (they’re just plain evil), so his empire will fall not long after his death. And Melania will have fucked that baboon for nothing. But alas, only the good die young and people like Dick Cheney, Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump will live into their 90s, like a certain cunty old First Lady who just croaked it.

by Anonymousreply 23April 22, 2018 10:34 PM

For the people who asked last thread about the Trump Servers:

If the Trump server pinged between a Russian Bank and the DeVoss/Prince family server then is it too big of a leap of faith that the servers were internet blinking headlights for pre determined bank accounts to open portals and transfer money? That the pings were signals for money laundering.

by Anonymousreply 28April 22, 2018 10:58 PM

I didn't know Trump that well except I knew he was a criminal and had no morals so at first I thought he would resign, at this point I think the only thing that would make him resign would be the indictment of Jared and Ivanka.

by Anonymousreply 35April 22, 2018 11:38 PM

DJT tweeting attacks on the FBI, Special fed & State investigators, the DOJ, and certain powerful media, is not a good idea. It may please Nunes and get Miz Lindzey tingly, but he'll regret it. This ain't about competing bids to buy some shitty hotel property.

by Anonymousreply 36April 23, 2018 12:41 AM

A bunch of the trolls are active on some of the other threads and quickly deleting their cookies and speaking to themselves.

This week look promising!

by Anonymousreply 37April 23, 2018 1:29 AM

OP pic says it all... This is all about Don and Rudy, and their pact with the Devil.... I mean Putin. Giuliani crawling back out of his hole to "fix" things signals the endgame.

by Anonymousreply 38April 23, 2018 1:56 AM

Trump is really letting his anti-semitism through today, Neo Nazis use "sleepy eyes" to refer to how to spot a Jew, he is using this to insult a Jewish journalist. He does this to rile up and keep his base happy, and of course no one gives a shit. It sickens me that we have fallen so far under his presidency.

by Anonymousreply 39April 23, 2018 2:13 AM

So evangelical fundies are fine with piss play, grabbing pussy, repetitive adultery, nasty name calling, mistreating subordinates, praising an intrusive foreign adversary, greed by the wealthy at their expense, abuse of the environment, screwing over Playboy bunnies and a porn star, etc., because they say the "Lawd" sent DJT to them?

Then it is the liberals advocating for morality, decency, and patriotism.

by Anonymousreply 40April 23, 2018 2:13 AM

The GOP have always been hypocrites r40........remember Newt Gingrich ?.....leading the charge, trying to impeach Clinton for a blowjob after spending 6 years, millions of dollars and a special counsel investigation into Whitewater that was supposed to be so scandalous, meanwhile his wife is served divorce papers as she dying in a hospital so he can marry Calista who he had been fucking around with in an affair.

r50, I love it! best post on here!

by Anonymousreply 54April 23, 2018 5:33 AM

I agree, r38. I've said this in past threads, and I'll say it again here:

I've always thought Rudy Giuliani and Jared Kushner were the dirtiest in this whole mess.

by Anonymousreply 55April 23, 2018 8:55 AM

A side benefit of all of this is that people like Erik Prince of Blackwater (De Vos's brother) have been dirty for years. contracting out on the international stage, hired guns for who ever can afford his services, and deal making with adversaries of the United States. He is no patriot. He's an arrogant piece of shit who truly does believe he is above the law. As this Trump debacle unravels it is going to expose and hopefully take down Prince and others like him. This is an interlocking international network of criminal enterprise. Controlling the gas and oil leases all over the work, controlling fresh water and food, this is massive. It wasn't just Hillary, it was Obama leading the charge for clean water less pollution, less reliance on fossil fuels, etc. And Hillary was a bold, courageous SoS. I can understand why Putin, and all these others hated her. She & Obama represented the future, and the tides of history are with them.

by Anonymousreply 56April 23, 2018 9:12 AM

The thing is everybody thinks he is too big to fail until he realizes that the ones above him decided that he's not big enough. And there is always somone above you who is bigger and more powerful (willing to sacrifice you to save his own skin).

by Anonymousreply 57April 23, 2018 10:18 AM

R56 the whole cabal thinks they're above the law. They act with impunity. That Seth Abramason tweet is pretty astounding if to be believed, meaning the scope of this. I think he is right. It is massive and far reaching.

by Anonymousreply 58April 23, 2018 12:12 PM

I agree, R58, Seth's tweets lay out the potential scope of this, and it is massive. It is to the advantage of the reich-wing to try and stuff this into one small box. But if you just look at the scope of what Mueller is involved with, you see that it must be extremely wide-reaching.

by Anonymousreply 59April 23, 2018 2:04 PM

Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy week.

by Anonymousreply 60April 23, 2018 2:11 PM

[Quote] But if you just look at the scope of what Mueller is involved with, you see that it must be extremely wide-reaching.

Exactly. That's why the Fake Concern Trolls work so hard at getting us gays to be dismayed at the length of time that it is taking for Mueller to spring the trap on Trump. It's going to take a LONG time, Fake Concern Trolls!

And then the Concern Troll Defenders who post, "Everyone who is worried isn't a troll!" as just as bad. They are trying to bring everyone down into a state of despair which will breed inaction. That is their goal: inaction to get out the vote to take back the country from the Reich-Wing (LOVE that term!) and Putin.

Don't even engage the Concern Troll Defenders because they are part of the same assault on us.

by Anonymousreply 72April 23, 2018 4:22 PM

I said it ages ago. IMO I think this investigation may go on for three years. Now I'm not suggesting it'll take Mueller that long to get Trump, I think that will happen sooner. But when you consider how wide reaching this is, all the players the networks the depth of corruption the number of laws that were broken, etc. this is an investigation that could, at some point after Trump, be reauthorized and continued for up to four or five years. And honestly? It would be worth every fucking dime. Because IMO, just as we needed Obama to pull us back from the abyss of financial catastrophe, right now we need someone of Mueller's stature to pull our country back from the abyss because our Democracy is in mortal danger. I know. Mary! But it's true.

by Anonymousreply 73April 23, 2018 4:31 PM

The investigation will take as long Mueller knows his findings will be used to force Trump to resign.

by Anonymousreply 74April 23, 2018 4:33 PM

This investigation will continue after Trump is removed.....Mueller will get them all.....

by Anonymousreply 84April 23, 2018 5:49 PM

R83, I was just thinking the same thing. Russian bots have been bumping “Bernie should have won “ threads on Twitter. This leads me to speculate that there might be evidence that Clinton won those swing states coming out this week, thus the full-once propaganda onslaught.

by Anonymousreply 85April 23, 2018 5:56 PM

They've been bumping the hell out of Hillary threads here.

by Anonymousreply 86April 23, 2018 5:58 PM

I have no doubt she beat him fair and square wherever she did and also won the general election and the electoral. What they hid in Reality Winner's reveal was suppressed because it meant that the election was invalid. No one wanted the chaos that would engender, but I think they should have called off the elections and secured the voting system. Everyone should have been on board with that, and was. Everyone but McConnell, the traitor from Kentucky. I will never forget or forgive that POS for refusing Obama's request to issue a joint statement. He knew the fix was in.

by Anonymousreply 87April 23, 2018 6:02 PM

R83, it's never too early for the vile, contemptible GOP to start their smear campaign. They have announced in the past week that Hillary Clinton will be the cornerstone, the main focus of their 2018 Mid term elections campaigning. So the fact we are seeing more trolls and their ridiculous attempts to re-litigate 2016, and get us all to thinking about Bad Hillary, and how she should be punished and prosecuted and investigated ad nauseam, is what they're about. The trolls, the renewed pubic comments, etc. It is beyond disgusting to me that in the United States of America we're literally allowing a political party and its leadership to call for the prosecution of it's enemies even when exhaustive investigations have proven there is nothing to investigate. Even worse are the media who buy into it. My heart goes out to Secretary Clinton. At some point I sure would love to see a backlash kick in an run the Republicans out of town. All of them. There isn't one asshole worth redeeming. The fact is we can RICO the RNC with complete justification.

by Anonymousreply 88April 23, 2018 6:09 PM

R87 what pisses me off is that it would NOT have engendered chaos. All that would have been necessary is for about 36-37 Electoral votes to be recast. The previous vote woud get decertified, the new Electoral votes recast, and done and done. It should have been done early last year. Because they knew.

by Anonymousreply 89April 23, 2018 6:12 PM

I think it would have been chaotic only in the time they figured out where the voting was compromised. It would have required the whole election to be thrown out, rather than just a few electoral votes recast. This affected a lot of down ticket elections and would have required a complete audit. And yes, because they knew.

by Anonymousreply 101April 23, 2018 7:40 PM

by Anonymousreply 104April 23, 2018 7:55 PM

Back on track. I hate the phrase Concern Troll. Most of the time I’m very hopeful that Robert Mueller will be able to do his job and uncover the massive amounts of crimes we know Trump has committed. But sometimes I feel like I’m going to lose it. That’s when I (along with many, I’m sure) post how they’re worried that Trump will get away with everything. He’s in his 70s and has gotten away with a lifetime of crime. I know we have to be patient but sometimes it’s really hard for some of us. It isn’t fake concern...it’s real panic.

I hear you , R105. I think people are justified in being concerned that he'll get away with it because he's gotten away with it his whole life and so many of the fucking Rethuglicans are enabling him in an effort to hide their own fucking crimes.

by Anonymousreply 106April 23, 2018 8:00 PM

[quote]Its probably a singular desperate person with no life that gets off on playing a troll online.......

That's pretty much what it is. It's Matt Anscher, a well-known troll. He's been dormant for the past few months but he came back today with a vengeance. He's already done his trademark practice of killing threads by using a script to swamp them with enough posts that they hit the 600-post limit in minutes. He routinely uses a dozen or more accounts (today, it's closer to two dozen verified), and he's the one doing much of this thread-bumping.

At some point, either his manic phase will end or the webmaster will finally get enough complaints to take action.

by Anonymousreply 107April 23, 2018 8:02 PM

[quote]So are the trolls paying members? You have to pay to start a thread.

I don't think so, unless that has changed in the past few days. You just have to have had a certain minimum number of visits.

by Anonymousreply 108April 23, 2018 8:05 PM

So he doesn't work R107. He's on disability or has a trust fund. No way this guy works and has time for that shit. I'm betting he's using taxpayer money to live.

by Anonymousreply 109April 23, 2018 8:07 PM

Maybe he can't afford his meds. These intervals of good behavior followed by a trolling meltdown have become a cycle.

by Anonymousreply 110April 23, 2018 8:12 PM

R110 there are intervals where he basically behaves and even some of his FB posts are sane and reasonable sounding. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a regular visitor but when he starts up his shit I go peek to see what is that could have set him off. I've noticed his family doesn't seem like they get along too well with him. Something of a black sheep, I gather or they are just exhausted by his mental illness.

Definitely, a noticeable cycle.

by Anonymousreply 111April 23, 2018 8:16 PM

Your post, R111, sounds just like Trump, btw. Thanks for staying on topic while not actually doing so. That's hard to pull off!

by Anonymousreply 112April 23, 2018 8:19 PM

And they hijack my talking points. I am the master of spin, deflection, and deception. The Russher trolls are the choir and not always clever.

by Anonymousreply 113April 23, 2018 8:19 PM

LOL, oh shit. Wrong thread totally.

by Anonymousreply 114April 23, 2018 8:22 PM

It's not one person. Plus, the Concern Troll Defenders ARE Trolls, too.

Thank you, Muriel, for pulling another clean sweep this afternoon, though.

by Anonymousreply 115April 23, 2018 8:55 PM

Matthew doesn't have 23 different browsers open and posting at the same time on different threads. It's not 23 POSTS, it's 23 separated blocked people. Five or seven, I could believe, but not 23. Those are a GROUP of people.

Just like the Concern Troll Defenders are here to make us feel helpless about Trump.

[Quote] I know we have to be patient but sometimes it’s really hard for some of us. It isn’t fake concern...it’s real panic.

by Anonymousreply 126April 24, 2018 12:17 AM

Here we have Prince running fiefdoms all over the world, pilfering of the taxpayer pocket with Phone booth Pruitt, furniture follies and HUD handouts for 'Hannities' with the Slow One, Kushner the snake sneaking out an enemies list to the Saudis, Precious Ivanka complicit in making sweetheart deals for daddy, Kellyanne melting down in a puddle of swill, Melania imitating Jackie, and Trump sits his fat ass down to ketchup and burnt beef at Mt. Vernon to describe despot dreams to the leader of the country that helped us become one. Where's my damn pitchfork?

by Anonymousreply 127April 24, 2018 12:22 AM

As someone on TV said a few minute ago, the Mueller guys do 't need to flip Michael Cohen. They have enough evidence and information right now to bring charges against Michael. And of course as he has so many other times the POTUS is sending broad signals that he will pardon Michael, which, don't hold your breath. IMO, I believe this whole line of thinking that is being promoted by the media and the pundits, very likely through "leaks" from somewhere, to drive Trump nuts. They're designed to rattle Trump. It isn't the probability of Cohen flipping that is driving Trump crazy, it's the possibility. And it is against the law, in fact it is obstruction to dangle a pardon out there and try to tamper with a witness.

This is slightly off topic, but the lunatic Scott Pruitt has broken the law. He needs to not just get fired, he needs to be charged and prosecuted.

by Anonymousreply 128April 24, 2018 12:26 AM

Well said r127

by Anonymousreply 129April 24, 2018 12:26 AM

by Anonymousreply 130April 24, 2018 12:29 AM

[quote]After everything we've seen the past year or so... do people really believe that DL hasn't been invaded?

Does it matter? I'm fine with the speculation but what difference does it make whether someone is posting stupid shit because they're a Russian operative, or because they're blindly partisan, or because they're a sociopathic troll, or because they're genuinely stupid?

No matter which it is, the end result is the same: stupid shit. Respond to that (or block or F&F) and take the speculation as a fun game and nothing more.

by Anonymousreply 131April 24, 2018 1:34 AM

I agree with everything you said, r131, except the word “respond”.

Ignore the trolls. As long as they know they have an audience, they will continue to troll.

by Anonymousreply 132April 24, 2018 1:48 AM

R131 I didn't say it mattered nor did I say anyone should be responding. The fact that anyone would question whether or not Russian trolls have invaded DL just like they've invaded thousands of other social media sites is ridiculous.

And I have reminded people over and over in this thread to not engage the trolls. So far, it's helped in reducing the number that come in here.

by Anonymousreply 133April 24, 2018 1:54 AM

I just keep blocking. No problem. They are so damned stupid. They think we can't tell. Right.

by Anonymousreply 134April 24, 2018 2:48 AM

Whoo Lord, they are really fucking with Trump's head. All this talk about how badly he treated Michael Cohen. So many people talking about how he treated Cohen like shit.

They want Trump to believe Cohen will flip. But you know what? I think too many evil people like those Russian oligarchs and Putin himself are too invested in the Trump Presidency. If Cohen flipped to help take him down, Cohen would make some very powerful enemies and might not survive. But if Cohen doesn't cooperate, they may threaten him with asset forfeiture. He could lose everything. If he has his properties in his own name.

by Anonymousreply 151April 24, 2018 3:11 PM

The media pushing "pardon" questions is exactly what the media wants to happen. They want the drama and controversy for ratings.

Pardons should be unthinkable, and the media making it an easier option is shameful.

by Anonymousreply 152April 24, 2018 3:11 PM

R152, if I'm not mistaken it's also a trap. A pardon can be considered part of an obstruction case. And by pardoning someone they can no longer refuse to testify or take the fifth. It is also true that ppardons only work for federal crimes not state of NY. So Trump would not achieve his goal of shutting Cohen's investigation down.

by Anonymousreply 153April 24, 2018 3:17 PM

Cohens case IS a Federal case r153..............but a pardon does not mean he cant be forced to testify....and, he cant take the 5th if he accepts the pardon........

by Anonymousreply 154April 24, 2018 3:26 PM

What did Dr. Ronny Jackson do? I’ve heard over-prescribing opioids and drinking on the job (seems like a pretty major no-no for a doctor). Was he also somehow abusing people?

Like everyone else, anyone connected to Trump eventually ends up ruined.

by Anonymousreply 170April 24, 2018 9:01 PM

R170 Ronny Jackson sucks... dicks.

by Anonymousreply 171April 24, 2018 9:02 PM

Ronny Jackson is the cabinet member who should be played by Martin Short in the movie version. Martin Short would make a better Ronny Jackson than Ronny Jackson does. Martin Short would get through Congress.

by Anonymousreply 172April 24, 2018 9:05 PM

In completely unrelated news, Dr Ronny Jackson suddenly remembered that Trump only weighs 175 lbs! Also Trump's 12 inch penis has grown 3 more inches since he took office. What amazing genes the man has!

by Anonymousreply 173April 24, 2018 9:24 PM

You got that a bit wrong, R173. His IQ is 12, he weighs 275 lbs, and his penis and fingers are both 3 inches.

by Anonymousreply 174April 24, 2018 9:29 PM

And those 3 inches apply to erect, not flaccid.

by Anonymousreply 175April 24, 2018 9:31 PM

[quote]I’ve heard over-prescribing opioids

by Anonymousreply 176April 24, 2018 9:49 PM

R170 I heard that there are allegations of him creating a hostile workplace. I also heard one of the allegations described as, "excessive drinking on the job..."

Funny, I would have assumed that ANY drinking on the job should have been a problem.

by Anonymousreply 177April 24, 2018 9:53 PM

The level of corruption and criminality in this historic situation will be difficult to dissect for the 'base' as Seth points out. It's complicated for anyone who's followed this. Now we have potential crimes by a media person connected to the propaganda machine. So much of the reluctance of Congress to act is predicated on the potentially negative reactions of a supposed 'base' but I wonder how much of that support is really bottish? I would assume they'd know this by now, but after that embarrassing questioning of vile techie, Zuckerberg, I seriously doubt it.

by Anonymousreply 178April 24, 2018 9:55 PM

The alleged drinking would explain that hysterically lame medical report on Spanky.

by Anonymousreply 179April 24, 2018 9:56 PM

by Anonymousreply 181April 24, 2018 10:05 PM

I dont understand why nobody is talking about Sessions refusing to recuse from Cohens case....its a conflict of interest....and Cohen-Watnick is a russian plant. This is big news.....Sessions will be briefed on the case....and you know damn well he will share the info with Trump.

by Anonymousreply 182April 24, 2018 10:09 PM

I still can't call that thing the President. Won't do it.

by Anonymousreply 183April 24, 2018 10:09 PM

Sorry, R182. Yes, that's bigly news. Sessions is getting himself into hot water with this one and I'm sure Grandpa Spanks ordered him to remain in place.

by Anonymousreply 184April 24, 2018 10:11 PM

My understanding is that technically the Cohen investigation is not part of Mueller's world or even the campaign investigation, so he has the right to horn in on it as USAG. However I would hope that Mueller et al are very much aware that Sessions is probably reporting every word of it back to his master. That is if he remembers any of it.

by Anonymousreply 185April 24, 2018 10:17 PM

Jeff Sessions reads very queeny.

by Anonymousreply 186April 24, 2018 10:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 187April 24, 2018 10:21 PM

r185....part of Cohens case is regarding campaign finance.....that falls under Muellers investigation.....and Sessions isnt the real threat....its Cohen-Watnick who Trump forced him to rehire as his security adviser......hes also the douche bag behind the Nunes debacle when he did his midnight run..........

by Anonymousreply 188April 24, 2018 10:28 PM

Ronny got very drunk and high and chased Sarah around the WH.

by Anonymousreply 189April 24, 2018 10:32 PM

R188, would Sessions be required not to divulge information that directly pertains to criminal acts by the Potus to the Pustule?

by Anonymousreply 190April 24, 2018 10:36 PM

[quote]Ronny got very drunk and high and chased Sarah around the WH.

I don't think they have enough liquor in the white house to make any man do that. Besides I get a real Queeny vibe from him.

by Anonymousreply 191April 24, 2018 10:38 PM

I could be wrong, but Sessions taking this decision puts him on a collision course with Rosenstein and Mueller. Not good...for Sessions.

by Anonymousreply 192April 24, 2018 10:39 PM

That's how I see it, R192. He could very well be walking into an obstruction charge.

by Anonymousreply 194April 24, 2018 10:48 PM

Think about it.....Sessions was on the transition team.....he knows what Papadapoulos was doing, as well as Carter Page......he was also meeting with the Russians himself...and he lied about it repeatedly to Congress... he will now be briefed on the Cohen case, wich in all probability will uncover ties to the Russia matter.

Cohen-Watnick is now Sessions NSA meaning he gets briefed on everything too......per Trumps request he was re-hired (he was fired fron the WH)......... is an alt-right loon.....is 30 years old and was made head of intelligence on the National Security Counsil.....Was a mojor spreader of propaganda during the election....wants us to blow up Iran.....and was the person who fabricated the documents for Nunes when Nunes did his midnight run to the white house and declared a security threat for unmasking..........and his wife worked for the Russian Government..........

Now the question is,........ which one will be feeding Trump info about whats been uncovered in the Cohen case ?

by Anonymousreply 195April 24, 2018 10:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 200April 24, 2018 10:55 PM

R195 so we know what kind of monster this Cohen-Watnick is, we can assume that Mueller and the FBi's Counter Intel investogators know about him too. I doubt very seriously that anyone associated with Trump is getting the kind of national security briefings or updates on important investigations that an Obama WH was getting. These people aren't stupid.

by Anonymousreply 201April 24, 2018 10:56 PM

Campaign Finance Law Violations

It is a federal crime to knowingly create and submit false campaign finance reports to the Federal Election Commission. Typically, the Government charges the filing of a false campaign disclosure form as being a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1001, which is a general statute that prohibits filing materially false statements within the jurisdiction of any federal agency. Although 18 U.S.C. § 1001 is a charge that can be filed in connection with knowingly filing false campaign disclosure forms with the Federal Election Commission, the typical charge that is brought in these cases is an alleged violation of 2 U.S.C. § 441(a), the Federal Election Statute. This statute makes it a crime to knowingly and willfully accept and/or receive contributions in excess of the limits of the Election Act. If two or more persons conspire to violate this law, another prosecutor’s preferred charge is to allege a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371, the general conspiracy statute.

R217 is right knowingly that lying on any federal form - campaign finance disclosure, NIH grant application, IRS filing etc is a felony. However, it is generally only prosecuted as a felony if the underlying activy being lied about is also a felony.

Now his malevolent, disgusting presence is everywhere and I hate his guts even more and what he and his deplorable cohorts are doing to this country. It amazes me that that gang of cockroaches carry on like they deserve to be there, wrecking our institutions. They have no shame, blatantly wrecking what they can, gleefully knowing they will cause pain. The 2018 elections can't come soon enough. What I find stunning is the number of people I know who really hate Trump. I mean they HATE him. It's not a dismissive "Oh, I hate him!" thing, it is deep and real. Everyone says the same thing. They didn't like Romney. They disagreed with McCain. They thought Bush was a terrible President. But none of them ever reached the level of genuine hate Trump generates. If Karma were real Trump would simple melt into a puddle and evaporate. He's 70. When he goes, and it may be in ten or 20 years or maybe he'll live to be 100. But when he goes, the world will breathe a sigh of relief and rejoice. All of us will be grateful for having survived this. Until then, we'll just have to live through it as best we can. For me that means resisting. It means marching and making phone calls and registering people to vote and doing all the things I wish I had done in the past. If I weren't actively engaged I' go crazy. He makes you crazy. I try to get together with friends more, I turn off the news and ration myself, I exercise, go to work and avoid political discussions unless I'm with the activists I volunteer with, and that's how I plan to survive this.

Thank you for posting! I have been thinking the same thing. There were times I thought i hated George W. Bush, but nothing comes close to this. And like you said, I see it all over. [quote]But anyone else, was the hatred and divisiveness ever this bad? Did anything else ever come close??

I was reading about JFK's trip to Dallas, and the billboards, newspaper ads, and general comments were as bad as anything they ever tried against Obama. In fact, it was amazing how they keep recycling the same things over and over and over, some of them would be familiar to Abe Lincoln. JFK had the John Birch Society and Obama had the Tea Party and Koch Bros., but even though the names change, the message is always the same.

As far as the mood under Trump you just need to look at the McCarthy Era. You can hear Roy Cohn every time Trump opens his mouth,

by Anonymousreply 284April 26, 2018 6:57 PM

I wasn't talking about the traditional "hate groups" we have always had in the good old USA. I was referring to average ordinary people who are otherwise pretty normal. This is something I have never experienced before and it is widespread. The distinction I was trying to make earlier was that these aren't fringe types like John Birchers or KKK, etc. These are friends and neighbors and people you see at the supermarket. Maybe I'm not being as clear as Id like to be, but what I was trying to say is this is very different.

by Anonymousreply 285April 26, 2018 7:31 PM

[quote] I was referring to average ordinary people who are otherwise pretty normal.

What do you consider otherwise pretty normal? Functioning addicts? There are certain fucked up opinions and behavior that outweigh "otherwise pretty normal". Like, what's next "boys will be boys?" "that's how it has always been", etc?

Are Deplorables, KKKers, modern day Nazis otherwise pretty normal?

by Anonymousreply 286April 26, 2018 7:58 PM

Beware of blanket statements, such as 'this is widespread' - they can easily be interpreted as an attempt to subtly influence someone into believing their neighbors are dangerous. I know my neighbors and this is not widespread. If you use this statement, be prepared to back it up with facts from reliable sources. Yes, sometimes people who have been conned become dangerously delusional. I believe this is why Mueller is teasing this out and carefully laying the groundwork for a solid conviction.

Until then, it's dangerous for us to turn on each other. This is what they want. History has proven, time and again, that stirring up rebellion and violence is opportunity for repression. Don't fall for it. There are not Trump voters out there wanting to kill you.

by Anonymousreply 287April 26, 2018 8:18 PM

You don't have to back up your statements if all you want to do is fearmongering. Spread the seed of mistrust (your neighbor did this or that! Don't believe me? Watch him with that in mind what I just said! You'll see!). Provide bogus "proof" from sites that suit your agenda (because they've been set up by like minded folks).

Look I don't see what's so tricky or sinister about saying that a lot of people really hate Trump, and the way they discuss the way they feel, or even say "I hate him" is a lot different from the way I've ever heard it expressed about other politicians or presidents. I'm saying there is a whole lot of negative karma out here for Trump. That's all.

by Anonymousreply 292April 26, 2018 9:35 PM

Ok, I get what you're trying to say R292. I think in the initial first months after the election, during all the rallies he held, that we were all confused about why the 'winners' were still so angry. I saw a lot of it, too, but it's calmed down. People can't sustain that level of anger unless it's really grounded in truth. There is a lot of hatred for him for doing this. I lost some friends. He's a disgrace and has embarrassed himself and this country. What I'm also seeing is more smiles with the good weather, people wanting to just live and not have this fuckery, and new resolve to have responsible leadership that reflects the will of the people.

"Senate Judiciary Committee Advances Bill To Protect Special Counsel Mueller"

[quote]In a 14-7 vote Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved of legislation that would protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller from being improperly fired by President Donald Trump.

[quote]Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Thom Tillis (R-NC), the GOP sponsors of the legislation, voted for advancing it, as did Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA). All Democrats on the committee voted in favor of the bill, which was also sponsored by Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE) and Cory Booker (D-NJ). Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who is not seeking re-election, also voted for the bill.

[quote]Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said last week that he didn’t think such legislation was necessary and thus did not plan on bringing it up for full vote on the Senate floor.

[quote]Grassley said at Thursday’s committee meeting that, even though he had constitutional concerns about the bill, it still should be considered by the full Senate.

...

[quote]The legislation codifies existing Justice Department regulations limiting the reasons a special counsel can be removed. It also gives a terminated special counsel the opportunity to challenge his or her firing in court.

R305, if you are the cause of the witness’s “unavailability”, then a statement by a deceased person is admissible. It also might be admissible as a statement against the witness’s own interest. But normally, yes, there needs to have been the opportunity to cross-examine.

[quote]The entire of Trump' presidency is wearing on us and if things keep up at this pace it will become difficult to feel outrage. It is saturating to the point of making us numb. That is a very bad sign.

You underestimate the extent to which opposition gets to Trump. If it did not, he wouldn't have indulged in that thirty minute rant to 'Fox & Friends.' What 'President' who was above the battle and assured in his work would bark so crazily as that? If all criticism of him is 'fake', why worry? But worry he plainly does - so saturation goes both ways. Keep the faith, and support all and every forensic criticism, which he deserves in full.

by Anonymousreply 317April 27, 2018 4:36 PM

Trump also hates Comey. That may have a lot to do with the rant. He is livid that Comey is writing a book, then out here promoting it and being treated like some cool guy and doing town halls and getting applause. His book is also selling really well. Trump also knows that it was his own firing of Comey and Comey's memos and leaks that prompted the appointment of Mueller. His fault. So projecting it onto Comey is standard operating procedure.

The Nobel Peace Prize is pretty much worthless considering they gave Obama one before he went on to be the only President in US history to wage eight years of uninterrupted war. Perhaps the Nobel Committee were just happy to know that Obama would do nothing to interrupt the heroin trade from Afghanistan to the USA

Oh LOOK, yet another lie about Russian connections. Why so many lies if nothing illegal or inappropriate was happening???

"MOSCOW — The Russian lawyer who met with Trump campaign officials in Trump Tower in June 2016 on the premise that she would deliver damaging information about Hillary Clinton has long insisted she is a private attorney, not a Kremlin operative trying to meddle in the presidential election.

But newly released emails show that in at least one instance two years earlier, the lawyer, Natalia V. Veselnitskaya, worked hand in glove with Russia’s chief legal office to thwart a Justice Department civil fraud case against a well-connected Russian firm.

Ms. Veselnitskaya also appears to have recanted her earlier denials of Russian government ties. During an interview to be broadcast Friday by NBC News, she acknowledged that she was not merely a private lawyer but a source of information for a top Kremlin official, Yuri Y. Chaika, the prosecutor general.

“I am a lawyer, and I am an informant,” she said. “Since 2013, I have been actively communicating with the office of the Russian prosecutor general.”

The previously undisclosed details about Ms. Veselnitskaya rekindle questions about who she was representing when she met with Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and others at Trump Tower in Manhattan during the campaign. The meeting, one focus of the special counsel investigation into Russia’s election interference, was organized after an intermediary promised that Ms. Veselnitskaya would deliver documents that would incriminate Mrs. Clinton."

And, R327, I find it hilarious that the Kremlin knew the predilections of the Trump family well enough to send a semi-attractive female lawyer to that meeting. I bet she was told to dress extra slutty in order to fully get their attention.

New article from Buzzfeed about the communications between the Agalarovs and the Trumps. Love this bit:

[quote]After the short meeting, according to the Democrats’ report, the group — excluding Trump Jr., Manafort, and Kushner — went to the bar in Trump Tower. While there, Kaveladze took a call from Aras Agalarov. The next day, Aras had “an expensive painting” delivered to Trump. The Democrats’ report cites an email — subject line, “Birthday gift for Mr. Trump” — from Goldstone to Rhona Graff, Trump’s longtime assistant. A week later, the Democrats’ report states, Trump sent Aras a thank-you note. “There are few things better than receiving a sensational gift from someone you admire – and that’s what I’ve received from you,” Trump wrote to Aras. “You made my birthday a truly special event by your thoughtfulness – not to mention your remarkable talent. I’m rarely at a loss for words, but right now I can only say how much I appreciate your friendship and to thank you for this fantastic gift. This is one birthday that I will always remember.”

And yet Dump couldn't be bothered to get anything for Melania's birthday yesterday. I doubt he even gave her the "beautiful card" and flowers.

By the way, has anyone heard anything about Rhona lately?

The Trump/Azerbaijan scandal was written up in Vanity Fair. It's online and well worth reading for the complete boondoggle that it is. I don't know if it ever opened.

I lost my place in this thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned yet: nominal Chief of Staff Kelly being touted for head of the VA. Would be an interesting choice. For Trump, it gets him out of the WH. With a military man as the head means Kelly wouldn't go all in with privatizing or cutting back services. He'd probably get a quick ok from Congress. Make sense? btw, Trump would not replace him as CoS. He prefers a scrum. Moron.

by Anonymousreply 359April 28, 2018 2:42 PM

This is an excellent article. Definitely worth reading. I disagree with some of the viewpoints expressed by some of the people they interviewed in Russia, but nevertheless the article clearly shows how determined and dedicated the Russians are to the whole cyber security/cyber warfare thing. It's scary.

As an aside I will say that this entire Mueller/Russia/ corruption thing is so immense, that there are only a few things you need to read to stay on top of what's going on politically in our government and in the Mueller investigations. The Atlantic and the New Yorker have excellent indepth articles. and their websites offer daily updates worth checking out. The Raw Story website and the Daily Beast are excellent. Axios is excellent and using Twitter for your news feeds saves tons of time. I follow CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NPR, and Daily Kos as well as several individual journalists and it saves tons of time. by Anonymousreply 375April 28, 2018 5:39 PM

If R370 is right, it's odd that Trump has for months been on the verge of firing Mueller, seeking every possible angle, being dissuaded by saner counsel.

Why fire the man who will, in time, report your total innocence from all nefarious activity? Which you have always and repeatedly asserted? But of course, making sense is not what Trump ever does.

by Anonymousreply 376April 28, 2018 5:57 PM

I feel bad for Senator Tester. He tried to do the right thing in regards to the frat boy doctor not being nominated for VA. And now Trump has him in his sites. Today Trump demanded he resign from the Senate! Some of these people who made these accusations need to put their names to it or he is going to be toast.

by Anonymousreply 377April 28, 2018 6:05 PM

Actually, even though Montana voted for Trump, I think this will help Tester. They'll defend their own against the orange piece of shit. Montana is filled with the "self-made man" mythologist Repugs, not the racist Southern inbred Repugs.

by Anonymousreply 385April 28, 2018 6:53 PM

Trump is NOT the king to demand a resignation of an ELECTED official from Montana. Only the PEOPLE of MONTANA may do this, and it's called a repeal. This is why he must go. He has repeatedly refused to uphold the Constitution, as vowed on his inauguration. He should be impeached on these repeated attempts to undermine our sacred Bill of Rights. Someone should remind him, in a nice French accent, that kings are guillotined.

by Anonymousreply 386April 28, 2018 7:23 PM

[quote] "Winding down"

Ridiculous. Manafort's trial hasn't even taken place yet. There is not one scintilla of credible evidence to back up the absurd assertion that the investigation is "winding down."

by Anonymousreply 387April 28, 2018 8:10 PM

[quote] Is Tester up for re-election in the midterms this year?

Yes. He won his first election in 2006 during the blue wave in George W. Bu$h's second mid-term election. He won his second election in 2012, which was also Obama's reelection. He should be fine. His previous elections were close, but he is a skilled politician. I know him personally and he is a no-bullshit kind of guy. He's down-to-earth and he relates well to the voters in Montana.

I think Trump's anger about this this will only help Tester. Most people in the middle see Trump for the insane moron he is. And they realize it was his capricious management style that brought this about. He picked someone close to him without letting the vetters take a serious look at Dr. Candyman. He threw the doc into the middle of the ring and let everyone else do the work for him -- the lazy bastard.

by Anonymousreply 388April 28, 2018 8:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 395April 28, 2018 10:29 PM

No one believes the Nunes investigation has a shred of credibility. Based on what we've seen so far, I believe Mueller's statement will read something like this:

The evidence will show that the President and key members of his election campaign staff, including members of his family, coordinated efforts with citizens of a foreign government to defraud the US elections by manipulating vote counts in key electoral districts. These efforts were augmented by carefully timed media 'drops' in key social media outlets in the weeks and months leading up to the election. This campaign of disinformation was perpetrated by CA, amongst others, and aided and abetted by top level executive staff at Facebook, and other social media outlets within their control.

North and South Korea just took away a main distraction. This week coming up will include some major drama and this Michigan MAGA meeting is the public face of their opening act. Throwing Cohen under the bus to distance himself is the other recent strategy. I'll be interested in hearing if he has something to say about that or the Fox debacle.

by Anonymousreply 409April 29, 2018 11:42 AM

R409 And he won't, since the deplorables are still mesmerized by their big bully Trump. Only with a Dem Congress on his side, would Mueller be able to duke it out with Trump.

by Anonymousreply 410April 29, 2018 2:10 PM

R394 and others, we need to be really smart and really alert if we want to win in November. Take nothing for granted. aside from voter suppression and unaddressed gerrymandering issues, there are also serious, vigorous efforts going on right now to split the State Democratic Parties and divide the Dems at the state level and some of these efforts are gaining ground. The Extreme Left wants to primary more moderate (but still Liberal/Progressive) Dems and make sure the weaker more vulnerable candidate faces the GOP incumbent or the GOP new comer. Some of the Republican candidates out here are really scary. They are Neo Nazis to their core. We can't let ourselves be duped into thinking a divided party can win in November. And we need the moderates and independents to show up and vote. If thinks are too rancorous they will not show up. The Republicans are prepared to lose a few seats in the House, but they are doing a lot of behind the scenes mischief (with help from their Russian friends) to try to hold on to their majority. They are going to fuck with the elections again, but they want it to look realistic, so they will accept a few losses.

Is this the Repug's new strategy? Are they going to "switch parties" and split votes so the Repug in the race wins?

by Anonymousreply 415April 30, 2018 2:51 AM

No, actually, the Republicans' strategy is the same as its always been divide and conquer. Lie, distort, smear the Democratic candidates, and spread fear about other exploiting the "illegals" and the crime and do not forget the 2nd Amendment stuff." And spread dissatisfaction. Don't forget to smear Hillary and Obama. Use voter suppression and gerrymandering, and flood the airwaves and social media with hate tactics.

I love how they're all trying to shame the 'snowflakes' into disavowing Michele's take down of Huckabee-Sanders. They claim she body shamed her by talking about eye shadow while they keep blabbing about something that never happened. She called her a liar. It's truth, get over it. Meanwhile, Trump stands in front of a crowd and dares to speak for US by saying we hate them. We don't hate them, we pity them. This is a classic case of 'you can dish it but you can't take it.' If he has nothing to fear from an investigation, why implore them to vote for Repugs so the Dems won't impeach? The pandering gets lower and lower.

You know, another thing that simply infuriates me is this. We recently learned that Mike Pompeo has ties to China. Business ties. He lied about this at his Congressional hearings and he failed to disclose it. There are other cabinet members and appointees who have lied or failed to disclose shit like this. They we have Trump himself and his business ties and his family's business interests and deal making, all of the obvious conflicts of interest, and a lot of this stuff is ILLEGAL. And yet this Congress, this Senate approves and ignores all of it. All of it. So many instances of laws being broken and lying to Congress is also illegal. and who the fuck is going to charge them and stop them? Our government has literally turned its back on the Law. They are brazen about it. I find it outrageous that for years the GOP abetted by the media, promoted faux outrage over the smallest most insignificant shit the Dems did, and yet no one says shit or even makes a big deal out of this. We have normalized a lot in this country in a very short time. That ought to scare everyone.

And, let's be perfectly clear: they've normalized a lot FOR Rethuglicans. Once a Democrat is returned to office it will be business as usual. Every slip -- hell, even the hint of a slip -- and the Repukes will happily turn on the outrage machine full blast. Holding a coffee cup while saluting or wearing a tan suit to a press conference will once again return as the worst assaults on our democracy. And, if anyone tries to call them out on their hypocrisy, they will do what they always do -- brush it off without a hint of shame. Because, they have no shame.

In November, the Republicans are going to

Claim democrats put illegal immigrants over people born and raised here. Untrue, but effective among many people.

Claim democrats hate the middle class because democrats belittled the money the tax cuts would give to the middle class. This will be effective among anyone who got $2 or more back in their paychecks because “it means democrats are lying. We didn’t get hurt by tax cuts.” You can tell them 10,000 times how much money the rich got back and they don’t care. They’re stupid and all expect to win lotto one day.

The Republican are masters st doing shit that harms America and turning it round to look like democrats did it. They’re the ones who wanted illegal immigrants here to keep wages down and destroy unions. They wouldn’t pass laws severely punishing the employers of illegal workers.

[quote]Wouldn’t it be better if Republicans turned on Trump? It would prevent a blue wave in November if they fielded a bunch of no-trumpers. But they’re sticking by Trump. Why? They know something we don’t between now & November.

Not really. The reason they're sticking with Trump is because their base is. Their base loves Trump more than they love Congressional Republicans. If any Congressional Republicans went all in against Trump, they would be primaried and there is a reasonably good chance that they would lose. And the resulting internecine battle in the primary would likely piss off enough Republican voters that it would enhance the Democratic candidate's chances in that race.

There is a reason that Senators Flake and Corker and not running for re-election. They simply do not have a choice, particularly Flake.

It's one of the reasons that Trump's numbers have gone up by a point or two. It's not really because he's any more popular with anyone else; it's that the Republican base, particularly the evangelicals, have completely solidified behind him. For better or worse, the Republican Party is Trump's now.

by Anonymousreply 446April 30, 2018 9:30 PM

House conservatives have drafted articles of impeachment against Rosenstein as a "last resort."

[quote]Conservative House allies of President Trump have drafted articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, who oversees the ongoing special counsel probe, setting up a possible GOP showdown over the federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

[quote]The document, which was obtained by The Washington Post, underscores the growing chasm between congressional Republican leaders, who have maintained for months that special counsel Robert S. Mueller III should be allowed to proceed, and rank-and-file GOP lawmakers who have repeatedly battled the Justice Department during the past year.

[quote]The draft articles, which one of its authors called a “last resort,” would be unlikely to garner significant support in Congress. But the document could serve as a provocative political weapon for conservatives in their standoff with Mueller and the Justice Department.

...

[quote]Meadows acknowledged the draft in an interview Monday, calling the one-page document “a last resort option, if the Department of Justice fails to respond” for his requests for more information.

[quote]“My frustrations about their inability to respond to simple requests could warrant further action,” Meadows said, adding that many of his colleagues are nearing a breaking point with Rosenstein.

On MSNBC now: the list of questions may have come from someone connected with Dowd, the Trump lawyer who quit because Trump wouldn’t take his advice about not talking to Mueller. Why did someone Dowd-adjacent release this now?

by Anonymousreply 462May 1, 2018 2:13 AM

R462, because Dowd was insistent about Trump NOT meeting with Mueller at a time when Trump was publicly saying he might meet with him. Behind the scenes Dowd felt it was a really bad move. Apparently the Trump legal team saw the list of topics Mueller wanted to question him about and Dowd decided it would be like, really really bad for Trump and the Mueller guys to get together . Ever. Trump would not listen to Dowd so Dowd decided to leave. I think Dowd still likes Trump and supports him, and "somehow" he allowed that list to be leaked to build a consensus against Trump meeting Mueller.

by Anonymousreply 469May 1, 2018 4:03 AM

John Dean posted on Twitter and I believe him. Dean said these were not questions submitted to Trump's lawyers from Mueller. These were a list of question areas that the Trump lawyers developed based on their meeting with the Mueller people to negotiate the meeting with Trump. Dowd didn't want trump to meet with Mueller after they realized where this line of questions would lead. it is believed that someone from Dowd's office leaked the list. Dowd is no longer Trump's lawyer. But this certainly did not come from Mueller.

by Anonymousreply 521May 1, 2018 10:43 PM

When Lindsey Graham is on Fox each time, he should voluntarily disclose how much he receives in the long-term contributions from the military industrial complex, i. e. GE, Lockheed Martin, etc.

This was a ploy to build the case for Trump to fire Mueller. This was a Devin Nunes like special. Maybe Devin didn't have his hand in it, but someone, Sean Hannity? Rudy? Some brilliant brain trust in the WH manufactured this as any bright House staff member could or even a Stephen MIllllar type and it is simply a summary of assumptions of things Mueller "could" ask Trump. What galls me is that first the news media says they have no idea what the source is, then they go ahead and start analyzing the questions as if they have any credible standing. THe news media is just as sloppy and careless and desperate for news toi feed the rating beast as they ever were. The first clue this was more Trumpian bullshit is that it got leaked to the New York TImes and boy do they look stupid. John Dean called this yesterday a few minutes after the times published it. And I posted the fact that John Dean called it and I agree with him. This White Hosue and its cohorts have a pattern of behavior especially when trying to play us, and when they're lying....which is most of the time. Sorry Donald. YOu look ridiculous and if you were building a case against Mueller this is not going to pass the smell test.

by Anonymousreply 527May 1, 2018 11:46 PM

Heard a great theory on Twitter today - Bornstein leaked the info about the doctor's office heist because he was passed over for the WH physician's job.

Nothing more than a rumor, but still.

by Anonymousreply 528May 1, 2018 11:46 PM

They want to fire Mueller. But it can't be arbitrary. They have to do it for "cause." Same with Rosenstein. So they need to buid a case. If they can fake a leak and make it appear to come from Mueller, and hype it as "illegal" (Trump loves that word and I hope it comes back real d=soon to bite him in his fat ass.) then they can manufacture a reason to fire Mueller. The hilarious part is this could have come from Nunes, or Hannity, Conway, Giuliani, take your pick. The clown car is loaded with suspects. Right now I'm thinking of those words from Deep Throat during Watergate: "These guys aren't very bright, and things got out of hand."

by Anonymousreply 529May 2, 2018 12:08 AM

According to WaPo, the questions were written down by Jay Sekulow based on a discussion with Mueller's people around a potential Trump interview. He extrapolated from what the discussion touched on but they weren't actual formulated questions by the Mueller team.

by Anonymousreply 530May 2, 2018 12:21 AM

WaPo: Mueller raised the possibility of a presidential subpoena in a meeting with Trump’s legal team in early March, WaPo reports.

This is the meeting based on which Sekulow wrote down the questions.

by Anonymousreply 532May 2, 2018 1:00 AM

r532....Its their job. What I dont understand is how they can tolerate the games Trump is playing with his rhetoric, etc. Its very unprofessional, and unlike characters like Cohen and Kasowitz,....... Dowd, Sekulow, Cobb do actually practice in court.

If Mueller is planning to subpoena Trump if he won't agree to an interview, Mr Mueller must have tons of evidence of a crime/crimes. It's never been done before to a POTUS.

by Anonymousreply 536May 2, 2018 1:26 AM

R56, Bill Clinton was subpoenaed in the Lewinsky inquiry. Clinton’s lawyers negotiated a taped deposition which was shown to the grand jury.

by Anonymousreply 537May 2, 2018 1:29 AM

Well Rachel just dropped a bombshell. Apparently Dowd dangled a possible Presidential pardon to Flynn, and he resigned immediately after that was discussed as one of the areas of questioning. Damn. Sekulow and the others all have their knives out...for one another. What a fucking mess.

by Anonymousreply 538May 2, 2018 1:49 AM

Fuck.

by Anonymousreply 539May 2, 2018 1:50 AM

R538, does this mean that Dowd himself might be a part of the obstruction case? Wow.

by Anonymousreply 540May 2, 2018 1:57 AM

How soon do you all think Mueller will make his move to interview or subpoena Trump? When do you think Trump will finally leave or be forced to leave office? 2018? early 2019? late 2019? 2020? How many, if any, of his family, will be sucked into the undertow with Trump? Will Pence go too?

So many questions . . .

by Anonymousreply 541May 2, 2018 1:57 AM

I NEED THIS TO BE OVER

I AM SO EXHAUSTED OF IT ALL

by Anonymousreply 542May 2, 2018 1:59 AM

Mueller is ready to move , and he will probably make his move between now and the beginning of June.......were almost there.....this summer is going to be crazy........

by Anonymousreply 543May 2, 2018 2:10 AM

Mueller knows that his actions will have ramifications. Mueller will begin the rollout of charges starting with Pence in early 2019. Depending on who is the Speaker of the House. Trump will be taken out early 2020 to totally fuck the Republicans. The only thing that will speed up this process will be the rare occurrence of Republican moving to impeach and convict Trump. Will that hapien? We shall see.

by Anonymousreply 544May 2, 2018 2:23 AM

I think those dates are too late, R544. Trump won't make it to 2020. Mueller will wait until the Dems take the House and then start moving on the major players. Summer of 2019 will be the latest Trump will last. They'll indict Ivanka and Jared in the Spring to pressure him.

by Anonymousreply 549May 2, 2018 2:50 AM

I completely agree. I was just thinking this evening that this can't end soon enough. Every damn day it is not one story, but multiple stories about obstruction, collusion, corruption, lying, cheating, and malfeasance surrounding this crowd of misfits, idiots, and traitorous felons. He had his goons raid his doctor's office and take his files? And Simple Sarah claims this is standard operating procedure. Where? Russia?

I know that Mueller is working as fast as possible, and I know these type of cases take time to carefully develop them, but please let this be over relatively quickly.

by Anonymousreply 550May 2, 2018 2:55 AM

Yes. Each morning I wake up, go to the computer to see who died, and then when I see whose name is missing I try to come up with ways how to rescue the day. I have HAD it. I don't dare call a crisis line because I suspect I'm not alone and I'd either be put on hold or take a volunteer away from an improbably needier case.

I now entertain a theory that these coprophagite nitwits intetionally commit as many crimes as possible in NY so that the AG's office is slammed and too distracted to bring any case to court.

by Anonymousreply 551May 2, 2018 3:00 AM

What fascinates me is how Drumpf keeps screaming there was no collusion! No obstruction!

Fuckface you sat there in an interview and laid out how you did in fact obstruct justice.

by Anonymousreply 552May 2, 2018 3:03 AM

R552: He thinks if he says it and tweets it enough times, we will believe it.

by Anonymousreply 553May 2, 2018 3:07 AM

Well a lot of this is due to the media breathlessly report every turd as if it were major. They have to keep feeding the beast as it were, keeping up with the competition and making sure they are on top of the ratings game. The pressure on reporters has to be almost unbearable. Rachel was joking about getting ulcers. But for us it raises our anxiety level, and is like some huge gloomy cloud hanging over our heads.

I know for me I had to dial it back. And I discovered I know as much as I need to know without hearing every single development, because the Media has no judgement about what is important and what isn't. And of course every single thing is one of those "this never happened before in the history of our country blah blah blah." I was having a nervous breakdown. So now I limit my TV. One hour of news every day. Unless something earthshaking happens the pundits just keep rehashing the same old shit from one show to the next. I don't need to hear about trump's doctor from six different news shows.

I use Twitter for news feeds from the regulars. I read the digital edition of the Washington Post and I read AXIOS and that's about it. I'm very well informed, and I no longer watch news shows on the weekend. If something imortant comes out, you know it'll be repeated. I watch movies or binge watch some good TV series, I read books, I go out with friends and gossip. I have been attempting to have some balance in my life. Going out doors for walks is a great way to get away from the news. So do yourselves a favor and put some distance between yourself and the TV. Listen to some music. Get laid.

by Anonymousreply 554May 2, 2018 3:10 AM

Totally agree, R549.

by Anonymousreply 555May 2, 2018 3:38 AM

A National Enquirer cover story targeting Michael Cohen could be a strong sign President Donald Trump is upset with his personal lawyer and turning against the man known for years as his "fixer," a source close to Trump said.

According to the source, Enquirer publisher David Pecker, who is a longtime friend of Trump's, would not have allowed the publication of the story -- which featured a headline including the phrase "Trump's Fixer's Secrets & Lies" -- without the President's blessing.

The special counsel's office wants two more months before it looks toward sentencing former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who has pleaded guilty to lying to investigators and is cooperating in the Russia probe.

"Due to the status of the special counsel's investigation, the parties do not believe that this matter is ready to be scheduled for a sentencing hearing at this time," Robert Mueller's prosecutors and Flynn's lawyers told the DC federal court on Tuesday. Flynn pleaded guilty five months ago. Prosecutors have previously delayed scheduling his sentencing.
