Katy Tur is beside herself with excitement from the Hannity news.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 16, 2018 7:02 PM |
I will also add that Cohens brother is married to a Russian mobsters daughter....and he has made millions from that association......
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 16, 2018 7:02 PM |
Why is the Hannity News significant?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 16, 2018 7:04 PM |
Re Hannity:
Kyle Griffin: Remember why Trump and Elliott Broidy needed Michael Cohen's legal services.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 16, 2018 7:04 PM |
Because Cohen is the fixer and pays off women to keep quiet about stuff. Also, treason.
If Hannity somehow ends up in jail or at least off the air, this nightmare may have been worth it all.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 16, 2018 7:05 PM |
Within the last two years, Hannity has used the services of Cohen. (msnbc reporter)
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 16, 2018 7:07 PM |
So Sean Hannity is Cohen's third client? Is Mr. Hannity mixed up with the obstruction of justice? Or is money laundering involved?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 16, 2018 7:08 PM |
Short Hannity statement (on msnbc): "We are friends. I've sought legal advice from Michael Cohen."
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 16, 2018 7:08 PM |
Cohen is a mobster and a fixer, not really a lawyer. If you seek "legal advice" from him, you probably want someone pushed around.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 16, 2018 7:09 PM |
probably payoffs for sexual harassment, etc.....
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 16, 2018 7:09 PM |
Is anyone watching FOX? I wonder how they’re spinning it.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 16, 2018 7:10 PM |
R13, they probably won't even mention it.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 16, 2018 7:10 PM |
Hannity didn't want to be associated with the case - why he wanted his name withheld per MSNBC reporter.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 16, 2018 7:10 PM |
Please let there be photos of Hannity engaged in some homosex. That's the only thing that would get Deplorables to turn on him.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 16, 2018 7:11 PM |
R13 I immediately turned to Fox when I heard the news. It's Shep Smith's hour. He's covering it, and doing a pretty decent job.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 16, 2018 7:12 PM |
Shep Smith should be on right now. If anyone would mention it, it’s him.
I’m out of my office and can’t get to a television.

MSNBC with a good point: if Cohen had not resisted having his documents reviewed by the government "taint team," Sean Hannity's name would probably never have been revealed. But now it's out there. There's probably no stopping this story until we find out what bad things Hannity was doing.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 16, 2018 7:21 PM |
Any newly-hired reporter, let alone anchor, at the lowest-rated local station would disclose to bosses if he or she was a friend or client of someone under investigation. And then recuse from reporting on it, or at least give a disclaimer on air.
Hannity did none of that, apparently.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 16, 2018 7:35 PM |
I bet Cohen arranged for some of Hannity haters to be offed.
MSNBC is reporting Cohen hired private investigator to find out dirt on Sean enemies.

Hannity claims he never asked for his name to be secret--that was just something Cohen said Hannity said.

Tuned in to see what Fox News had to say following Shep.
Neil Cavuto was hosting Matthew Louis Gaetz II, Congressman from the 1st district in Florida beginning in 2017. I understand he's the Congressman whose father fixed his DUIs. He's on the House Budget and Judiciary Committees. Gaetz has been a ringleader in trying to shut down the Russian intrusion investigation and have Mueller terminated. He resorts to Hillary attacks, over and over, to deflect and claim a dual standard.
Gaetz and a few of his cohorts are frequent on Fox. This is no Miss Lindzey. He is extreme, and acts and sounds like Nunes on steroids.
Is anyone challenging him in Florida's 1st district for 2018? This guy needs some bigtime scrutiny and competition.

As with this whole case, the coverups impacted the election and amount to treason. We all knew Trump was dirty, and Hannity, but now there is ample evidence in the hands of federal (and soon to be state) prosecutors. I don’t even know why the Republicans don’t give up now to mitigate their midterm damage. Maybe because they are all guilty too. Giant waste of taxpayer money

by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 17, 2018 12:27 AM |

Hannity had a hand in directing the propaganda and assisting in its distribution.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | April 17, 2018 12:32 AM |
As r41 notes, there's an MSNBC report that Cohen was wiretapped? Has anyone else reported on this or was this just a careless reporter getting his facts wrong?

by Anonymous | reply 59 | April 17, 2018 12:43 AM |
I am really dubious that much of Cohen’s documents are attorney client privileged. If it’s just arrangements for hush money then there was no legal advice provided, just coverups for crimes

That’s her job. That’s why she is such a high ranking Republican agent. Because she can talk over people, she can snottily deny things, then immediately pivot and do a mean girl “whatabout” and never miss a beat. What she needs is a female tv journalist who does a Kellyanne impersonation while interviewing her.

And don't forget the "networking parties" that he hosted for wealthy businessmen. Under aged "models" were used there too. Cohen had a lot of messes to clean up, and so many opportunities for blackmail, extortion, and coercion . Getting Cohen definitely lifted up the rock, and now all the vermin will be exposed. Top Republican Official Says Trump Won Wisconsin Because of Voter ID Law
Election officials and Democrats in Wisconsin have repeatedly argued that the state’s strict voter ID law allowed Donald Trump to win the state in 2016 by keeping thousands of voters—predominantly in Democratic-leaning areas—from the polls. Now a top Republican official in the state is saying the same thing.
“We battled to get voter ID on the ballot for the November ’16 election,” Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel, who defended the law in court, told conservative radio host Vicki McKenna on April 12. “How many of your listeners really honestly are sure that Sen. [Ron] Johnson was going to win reelection or President Trump was going to win Wisconsin if we didn’t have voter ID to keep Wisconsin’s elections clean and honest and have integrity?”
In a University of Wisconsin study published in September 2017, 1 in 10 registered voters in Milwaukee County and Madison’s Dane County who did not cast a ballot in 2016 cited the voter ID law as a reason why. That meant that up to 23,000 voters in the two heavily Democratic counties—and as many as 45,000 voters statewide—didn’t vote because of the voter ID law. Trump won the state by 22,000 votes.

They withheld the emails until the last few days before the election. Giuliani announced there would be an “October surprise.” Comey then released the statement about reopening the investigation. The NY Times says Comey released the statement because the NY FBI guts were going to leak the investigation to the media.

R98 That basic thought came to mind when Hannity got mentioned. There may be a connection among Hannity-Wiki-Assange-Kremlin whereby talking-points are delivered and exchanged. It is coordination. Hannity is the propagandist to protect and deflect for Trump which benefits Putin's agenda. Hannity is a Tokyo Rose, but with immense visibility harsher language. If one listens to deplorables in coffee shops, barber shops, church socials, etc., it is evident they get their distorted views and reference points from Hannity.
Cohen imay be the go-between. It is to get Trump's approval and/or facilitating messaging among the alledged conspirators. The messenger that delivers "instructions" from abroad, and how it is done, may be evident in Cohen's obtained files.
Just a theory, but on surface, and with more disclosures needed, it is not difficult to hold such a perception.

r109 I am still obsessed with that whole story. And don't forget Jason Chaffetz knew something was coming before the Comey letter was written, too. After the Access Hollywood tape dropped Jason couldn't get on TV fast enough to assure his Mormon voters he could no longer support pussy grabbing Trump. Then suddenly in the middle of the night two days before the Comey letter..... Jason announces on Twitter he's back on the Trump train. Nothing suspicious there at all.
Comey said before Congress he was investigating those leaks out of NY FBI. We don't know if Christopher Wray continued that investigation or not.
The whole Republican line the FBI is a hot-bed of Hillary loving Democrats is complete bullshit. They hated her guts and some of them obviously worked to ratfuck her and throw the election.

Once again President Donald Trump will get out of town on the night of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to be billed and cooed over by thousands of rally fans. This time, Trump is holding his WHCD counter-programming clambake in Washington – Michigan.
That’s so the White House could snark:
“While the fake news media will be celebrating themselves with the denizens of Washington society in the swamp that evening, President Trump will be in a completely different Washington celebrating…with patriotic Americans.”

R121, because of his involvement with the anti-war movement in the years leading up to the US entry into WW2, Lindbergh resigned his military commission because he didn't think it was appropriate. As soon as we entered the war, Lindbergh ended his anti-war activities and offered to enter service again. FDR was furious at him for his anti-war activities and refused to allow him back into service.
Lindbergh went to work on helping private industry - maybe It was Ford - develop new planes for the war effort. FDR never relented in his refusal to let him back in but nonetheless he went to the Pacific visiting airfields to check on the planes and devise better flying techniques. Obviously the military welcomed his expertise and help. My dad flew B17 bombers in the Pacific and met Lindbergh during one of his visits to whatever island my dad was on. Lindbergh was able to figure out how and teach pilots to fly their planes so they could get much more mileage out of their fuel tanks - an incredibly important advance with the lack of available landing islands on the very long bombing missions to and from Japan (this is why they fought so hard to capture Iwo Jima). Better mileage meant the difference between crashing in the ocean or making it back to an airfield.
Supposedly FDR never knew of Lindbergh's service - and the generals were aghast when he actually went on some combat missions and downed enemy planes for fear Lindbergh would be shot down - and FDR finding out. In any event, he did his bit for the war effort and as the child of a flyer I am grateful for what he did.
Though he did have his peculiarities.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | April 18, 2018 2:04 AM |
FDR was being careful, being A PRESIDENT.
Who knows what finally set Lindbergh onto the right path, and I'm glad for the American flyers who benefited, but it was a war, and Lindbergh was a nazi sympathizer.

The Rolling Stone article that someone posted in either this thread or the last one was shocking regarding how many "dirty" people from Russia they were involved with. by Anonymous | reply 198 | April 19, 2018 11:39 AM |
Rosenstein doesn't get "impeached." He gets fired. My personal prediction is that Trump is waiting to see whether the Russian attempts to hack the mid terms will work out. If the Midterms allow the GOP to keep control over the House Trump will not care "how it looks" he will fire Rosenstein with impunity and then allow the next DAG to limit Mueller's ability to investigate. If that doesn't satisfy him, he will fire everyone. Sessions, the new DAG and Mueller. and we can all scream massacre and nothing will happen. If the Dems manage to take the House and gain seats in the Senate, Rosenstein will be gone the day after. Boom. I think Mitchell is placating he Senators by telling them to "lets gt through these mid terms then evaluate our position. Mitchell is great at stalling things.
I think we need to focus on a couple things while we wait for Mueller. These Midterms are important yes, but focusing on Congress is only half of it. We really need to focus on the state legislatures, and state governments. That's where we get fucked. And we need to be going after the whole voting thing right now. In fact it's almost too late because the registration deadlines are fast approaching at the end of April for the primaries. I think in a lot of states the Far Left is competing with more moderate Dems and if the candidates who a re too far Left win the primaries they will have a much more difficult time winning against the GOP. This is especially true in statewide Senate and Governor's races. Pick any state where there's a governor's race and check it out.

Suckabee possibly has been privy to situations involving key players' nefarious interactions, conversations, intentions, and her own part in obstructing justice with her blatant er-umm falsifications re the truth, as much as Sean Spicer or maybe Hope Hicks. I imagine her security clearance hangup has something to do with matters of personal finance--maybe a credit or repo issue. If one believes Lindsey Graham stands for doing the right thing thing, note this. Lindsey has announced his support for Trump being re-elected in 2020.
The media needs to shut their mouths about Lindsey being so principled and serves as a counter to Trump's troubling actions.

A brilliant strategy on Rod's part. He should keep telling him that. It has already been established that Mueller told tRump's lawyers that he isn't a target of the investigation but rather is a subject of it. As any prosecutor will tell you, the difference between the two can be paper thin. So, I hope that Rosenstein keeps telling Orange Cheetolini just that -- right up until the very end.

Rudy could at least be an unindicted co-conspirator; being an active part of the Trump campaign. Rudy blabbering about his contacts with the NYC FBI office, and, highly questionable behavior by pre-announcing that HRC will be further investigated; indicates a huge conflict of interest by serving on Trump's legal team. It is unethical. R236 has a point per motive.

That's a nice little racket Don and Rudy are trying to cook up. They can talk about all the evidence and claim attorney-client privilege.

[R235] As I mentioned in one of our first threads on this topic, I've known both Rod Rosenstein and Bob Mueller since the 1990s when I worked in the Clinton/Reno Justice Department. Both of them are men of great integrity and I have the utmost respect for them. I trust them to do the right thing, and I think that is what they are attempting to do under very difficult and trying circumstances. I also know one of the lawyers on Mueller's team, and she is also a person of superior intellect and ethics that are beyond reproach.
Mueller runs a tight ship, so don't be looking for that tiny leak to confirm that he's on to Trump. He'll let the indictments and his report do the talking for him.

R245 I don't know for sure. But he was chummy with the FBI office and the retired FBI guys - and he seemed to know ahead of time about the emails. He talked about it. Now whether Cohen mentions all that somewhere in his files is anybody's guess. At the very least Guiliani has a huge conflict of interest - but that doesn't seem to exist in Trump's White House.

GIuliani is practically senile. Having him on the team prevents him from testifying. That's all I can think of. I don't believe Giuliani will be a very effective lawyer. Maybe he will have connections so he thinks he can figure out insider stuff. Giuliani is way overrated. He was 20 yrs. ago ad he is now. Most every thing Trump et al are doing is for PR, and political purposes nothing to do with the law.
What I find interesting is that Trump is giving people the impression he and the GOP are getting more agressive by fighting the FBI, DOJ, and waging an agressive campaign attacking McCabe, Clinton, etc. It's designed to help bring out the base and make sure the GOP voters are galvanized to gt out and vote. It's theater.

I believe he is crazy like a fox and knows exactly what he is doing - how else would he be getting North Korea to the table when no other president has been able to do so in the last 68 years. There is good and bad in every administration and you must read and listen to EVERYTHING in order to form a rational opinion. Being an American is a priviledge and everyone is welcome here but they must follow the laws. Trumpie is trying to elevate every American's life and in doing so there will be more room for legal immigration because we are going to need the skilled labor. He is a businessman who is getting things done - more than any other first year president - even with the do-nothing Congress.

HE HAS BEEN UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR MONTHS FOR CRIMINAL ACTIVITY, AND THERE PROBABLY WAS SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE TO OBTAIN A WARRANT. IF THAT IS TRUE, TRUMP'S RECORDINGS WITH COHEN WILL BE IN MUELLER'S TEAM'S HANDS. THAT PROBABLY PROVIDED ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE TO OBTAIN A WARRANT TO SEARCH COHEN'S OFFICE, HOTEL AND HOME. I THINK THE LARD ASS IS TOO STUPID TO REFRAIN FROM TALKING TO COHEN SINCE HE BELIEVES HE CANNOT BE SURVEILLED, AND I THINK COHEN IS TO STUPID TO THINK HE WILL BE SURVEILLED AS TRUMP'S ATTORNEY, AND, BESIDES, HE PROBABLY BELIEVES THEIR CONVERSATIONS COULD BE SUBJECT TO ATTORNEY-CLIENT PRIVILEGE. THAT'S A JOKE WHEN CRIMINAL ACTIVITY OR FRAUD IS BEING COMMITTED, AND IN FACT, COHEN MAY NEVER HAVE QUALIFIED AS TRUMP'S ATTORNEY BASED ON THE WORK HE CARRIED OUT FOR TRUMP. WE SHALL SEE.

Does he think the public has forgotten his cackling in delight as he (correctly) "predicted" one revelation after another? As if he had an inside track? Does Rudy think Mueller does not know how he has spent the past few years and where his money comes from?

What could possibly be in the memos that show Comey to worse advantage than Trump? Why were Republicans so insistent that they be turned over (and have now apparently leaked them)?

Well, I might still be a nelly but I'm no longer nervous. I should have known Devin would just absolutely own himself with another memo stunt, and he did. The memos say exactly what Comey said they would say. Pwn All The Things thinks the redacted answer to Flynn having a FISA warrant was yes.
I still don't like Republicans getting stuff by threatening the DOJ, but if Rosenstein actually played them, fine.

His rant yesterday was that no one had succeeded with NorithKorea using traditional diplomacy and that - as bullies - like all bullies! - you hafta be tough and show respect and he thinks everyone will be really surprised about how Trump will succeed where so many others have failed.

Youse people are too close and are so week to week. Mueller is playing the long game. If Pence were not hooked up in this mess, Mueller would have taken down Trump already. We have six months till the election. The best time for Mueller to roll out MAJOR indictments will be AFTER the next Congress is seated on 1-3-2019. Till then it will be no surprise if the heavens open and God announces that Trump is not a focus of the investigation. That will last till everything is set next January. My prediction, on January 4th, Mueller will announce that Trump is NOW a focus of the investigation.

The FBI opened their investigation into Trump Campaign/Russian interference in July, 2016. In May or June of 2017 Mueller was appointed to take over the investigation as a Special Prosecutor. I t is almost May, 2018. I think some big fish are about to get fried and I think it'll wait until after the Mid Terms. After all, the FBI would hate to be accused of doing something to affect the outcome of the Midterms...wouldn't they?
Rudy is such a jackass. He's going to "negotiate" with Mueller? Really? That must mean Rudy thinks Trump is guilty of something because you never signal you're ready to negotiate unless charges are forthcoming. But aside from ignorant comments like that, I wish one of DL's legal people would tell us what they think of Rudy coming on board...or attempting to come on board. There is are obvious conflicts of interest and a real possibility that Rudy could be called as a witness. He was up to his neck in the Trump campaign and he has business interests with the same Gas Company in Russia that Carter Page was doing business with. My prediction is Rudy will make a few public comments, then fade.

Rudy is a joke. He's a blowhard who is all bluff and bluster. Yes, Mueller knows him. And, I suspect that Mueller's opinion is similar: that Rudy is a fool and a jackass. CNN: If House GOPers thought they were helping Trump by forcing the memo release, they may want to think again
"The documents written by the then-FBI director, detailing his interactions with Trump, present a contemporaneous and deeply unflattering view of a President throwing his weight around in his first days in the White House -- that at the very least seems highly inappropriate."
by Anonymous | reply 357 | April 20, 2018 1:26 PM |

I’m thinking also about the memo leak. I was wondering who got copies of the memos. They could have been leaked by a Democrat or an anti trump Republican. Did they go to a select group of House members?
by Anonymous | reply 360 | April 20, 2018 1:37 PM |
IMO I just think from a tactical perspective, declaring you're there to negotiate because you used to know these guys, is not smart. And Mueller was still in the United States when Giuliani was on TV every other day extolling Trump's virtues and smearing Hillary. English is not Mueller's second language. He heard Rudy talk about the "big news' that was coming any minute. The indictment of Hillary. The Wiki leaks e-mail dumps. So I'm wondering if it's a tactic. Does Trump expect Mueller to tell them Rudy has a serious conflict of interest and can't e his lawyer, so they can then make a big deal out of it with their base? The whole thing smells bad.

Note this group of eleven Republican Congressmen.
It doesn't even include others such Devin Nunes, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, etc. This is not about being just a pro-Trump Congressmen, but those trying to abuse the judicial processes to keep DJT and cohorts from facing further inquiries that could lead to more indictments and perhaps impeachment.
It would be interesting to see a 'comprehensive list' of House Republicans who are ACTIVELY trying to undermine the Mueller investigation and/or advocating malicious prosecution of political opponents of DJT.
The House Democrats are not expressing a high degree of alarm about this. One would expect Democrats would be more vocal and confrontational over some very ongoing obstructing behavior by a number of House Republicans. While the minority, the Democrats have a lot of people that need to speak-up more to expose.

R375 Short answer: He's been on Fox throughout. Chris Cuomo will get the first CNN interview.
Long Answer: Guiliani has been a contributor on Fox throughout, (especially that cunt Jeanine Pirro), but now will probably appear more frequent. I suspect we’ll also see Chris Cuomo interview him on CNN. Chris practically has a family history with Guiliani from when his dad was governor of New York. Cuomo is great at getting Guiliani to relax and then getting him to spill info.
Attention is the whole reason Guiliani is obviously doing this. He never got over the hero worship during the 9/11 period, and has been desperately trying to recapture it ever since. But he’s a completely different person now. Most of his previous allies and friends have abandoned him. His current wife divorced him. Even his kids won’t speak to him. His daughter was a notable supporter of Hillary and displayed it prominently on her website. Whatever happened to his close buddy John McCain?
He’s now like the crazy old uncle with dementia who escaped from the Senior Home, and his family is just to fed up to keep going after him and putting him back.

You're right, r395. And I would bet Teddy regretted making the perfect the enemy of the good, with all good intentions, for the rest of his life. He and everyone believed the US would get on board with the rest of the Western developed world, and soon.
On the other hand, it was repubs and not dems who decided to make health coverage a privelege for the wealthy and not a universal birthright, in the years since.

It was Carter, not Nixon, who Kennedy thwarted regarding health insurance.
Nixon resigned before he could tackle health care. And who was It who brought Nixon down? A rightwing FBI agent. The funny thing is, deplorables have no reason to trust the FBI. But I won’t tell them why. (You know damn well they don’t know or care who brought down Nixon. To them it was “the librul media.”)

[quote]It was Carter, not Nixon, who Kennedy thwarted regarding health insurance.
"Ted Kennedy, whom Nixon assumed would be his rival in the next election, made universal health care his signature issue. Kennedy proposed a single-payer, tax-based system. Nixon strongly opposed that on the grounds that it was un-American and would put all health care “under the heavy hand of the federal government.”
Instead, Nixon proposed a plan that required employers to buy private health insurance for their employees and gave subsidies to those who could not afford insurance. Nixon argued that this market-based approach would build on the strengths of the private system.
Over time, Kennedy realized his own plan couldn’t succeed. Opposition from the insurance companies was too great. So Kennedy dispatched his staffers to meet secretly with Nixon’s people to broker a compromise. Kennedy came close to backing Nixon’s plan, but turned away at the last minute, under pressure from the unions. Then Watergate hit and took Nixon down. Kennedy said later that walking away from that deal was one of the biggest mistakes of his life."
by Anonymous | reply 405 | April 20, 2018 8:28 PM |

[quote] Kennedy said later that walking away from that deal was one of the biggest mistakes of his life."
Funny, he made the same mistake just a few years later with Carter and to this day carter hates Teddy Kennedy for it.
The fact is that we would have had comprehensive health care now had it not been for Ted Kennedy's deliberately blocking the legislation that I proposed," Carter said in the interview. "It was his fault. Ted Kennedy killed the bill." Carter cast his Democratic rival as spiteful. "He did not want to see me have a major success in that realm of life," Carter said.
Carter wrote at the time: "Kennedy continuing his irresponsible and abusive attitude, immediately condemning our health plan. He couldn't get five votes for his plan." Kennedy and Carter had competing health-care plans while Carter was president. Kennedy favored a more comprehensive approach that would have insured all Americans against health-care costs regardless of age or income. Carter backed a more moderate proposal that would have been phased in over several years.
Kennedy wanted health care to be his baby. He wanted his name on it. That’s why he turned down both Nixon’s and Carter’s plans. So now we have shitty health care and Teddy Kennedy’s name is known for....Chappaquidick.
Kennedy also paved the way for Ronald Reagan’s presidency by fracturing the Democratic Party in the 1980 election. Thanks, Teddy. Such a swell guy. All for his own ego.

Will they say they didnt uncover anything ? If they found something, what are they going to do about it ? It will also be interesting to see if there is any apparent bias involved in the report. couple things to throw in the pot, if they haven't already been covered: The speculation is that Sea Hannity persuaded Trump to bring Giuliani on board. Secondly if you watch Rachel interview Comey, I think it was on her program he said he investigated the SDNY FBI office to figure out who was leaking stuff to Giuliani, and what Giuliani's interests were, I mean he was talking about all kinds of stuff before the world new it. Couldn't contain himself. Had to tell. I have to figure Comey didn't find any leaks inside the office but he put people on notice. I also have to figure that Comey deduced or had proof that Giuliani was getting his information from people in contact with the Russians, Assange Wiki Leaks Roger Stone, etc. Yes. Rudy is very dirty.

The first group was allegedly made up of Republican supporters who didn’t like Clinton and would always vote along party lines, the outlet said.
Basket No. 2 reportedly included what Clinton described as those “who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens in their lives and their futures.”
And Basket No. 3 was reportedly made up of “deplorables,” which allegedly included “the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.”

Funny thing... When Maddow recently got Dana Boente's (then acting Deputy AG) memos about what Comey told him about his meetings with Trump, there was also this:
[quote]The exclusive collection of documents also includes a letter from E.W. Priestap, the assistant director of the Counterintelligence Division of the Department of Justice, informing Boente that his notes from his conversation with Comey are not classified.
So how can Comey's memos be classified but Boente's memos about the same thing be unclassified?
Obviously, DOJ doesn't consider the memos classified. So who is now retroactively classifying them to serve Trump and the Hill GOP narrative?

[quote]That one-sidedness has always been at the heart of President Trump’s relationship with his longtime lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, who has said he would “take a bullet” for Mr. Trump. by Anonymous | reply 499 | April 21, 2018 3:23 PM |
R494, I recall that. I saw interviews with them before the deal. They were buddy-buddy, all complementary. Then there were the “after” interviewers. Merv was all pleased with his new toy. He purchased some cascino in Las Vegas, IIRC. Donald was dismissive. He talked about how he “got what (he) wanted”, and how he took Merv, essentially. I was shocked and disgusted. Not so much that he did it, but that he 1. Bragged, and 2. About that. Both were obnoxious. I don’t know how anybody might think any of that is admirable.
I do know that this happens, etc. etc., but the foundation of business in America is that both sides can get what they want, can prosper, without cheating the other. You sell a good product at a fair price. I know, that monster Martin S. who jacked up medical prices recently, because he could, legally, isn’t on board with this, but we used to have social stigma that would prevent the worst abuses. Now, I don’t know.
In Russia, I hear, dash cams are necessary because nobody in insurance can believe the claimant anymore (if ever, there). That was a good thing that religion gave to America, for centuries. I think it’s gone now.

R517 is being disingenuous to throw us off topic right before the whole thread turns into suggestions for the next thread title. Everybody knows what it means for the president to win or not win the popular vote. Trump's tweets have shown his sensitivity to having lost to Clinton by 3 million votes and winning the electoral college only because of bare majorities in three states. When Bush Jr. won a bare majority of the popular vote in 2004 (helped by voter suppression and probably shenanigans in places like Ohio) he immediately declared that he now had some sort of mandate to privatize Social Security and carry on with his reactionary program—which promptly collapsed in flames, by the way.

CNN had Kellyanne Conway on this morning for another obnoxious interview. She distorts, twists, deflects, attacks, filibusters, and the verasity is shallow. If CNN wants to play the "both sides" angle, at least find a Republican that is straightforward and offers some substance of information. Then, CNN keeps featuring Bernie Sanders as if he is the leader of the Democratic Party.
NBC/MSNBC won't fool with Kellyanne, but CNN is thinks this is news. It is poor journalistic standards.

Nunes is declaring that U.S. spy agencies were snooping on the Trump campaign.
Well yes, they wouldn't be doing their job when there were indicators of collusion with Russia, a hostile foreign power, to swing a U.S. national election.
The better question for Nunes, why are you engaging in what looks like ongoing obstruction of justice, and what investments of interest do you have with Russia interfering?
by Anonymous | reply 558 | April 22, 2018 5:49 PM |
No, r558, Nunes is wrong. There was surveillance of foreign nationals suspected (rightly) of trying to influence US persons close to, or part of, the campaign. Those efforts were completely justified.

House Republicans, particularly Ryan, gave Nunes the green light to undermine the investigation. Nunes is beloved by his aroused GOP colleagues and have endorsed and facilitated his actions every step of the way. That doesn't look like Nunes is being a renegade with that kind of party support. They can't say later Nunes was out of control when they appointed him, accepted his reports, offered no reprimands, and voted affirmatively on all his antics (Intel report) presented for a vote.
