The book continues for 50 pages beyond the movie. And those 50 pages are rich and deep in meaning. Luca has said he want a continuation , and Timothée, Armie and Michael have all said that they down for another movie.

Armie has said that making CMBYN was a revelation about how movie making should and could be, so he’ll jump at the chance to work with the others again.

I'll always regret "Maurice" doesn't have a sequel. Who says the Epilogue the author wrote and then discarded could not be done into a movie realistically? Many men survived WW1.

Hopefully CMBYN will indeed have a sequel.

At the very least they should play another gay couple in another movie just to see if this one was a fluke.

A sequel might work beyond the 50 pages CMBYN left out. If they explore each characters lives during those 21 years. Also, if Elio isn't the narrator because his re-accounts of things as many have said are spotty and doesn't give us a real picture of what's going on in OLIVER's mind. IMO they will need to wait at least five years for Timmy to mature a little to be able to play a man in his late 20s – mid 30s.

I'm all for Armie playing Oliver if he's really going to commit to the role and not be so concerned about the nudity he expressed with this film. A lot will depend on a good script and where each actors careers are in the next few years.

Luca has said he wants to film in 3 years when Timmy is 25. He doesn’t want to necessarily follow the time line of book.

I am interested see what Armie’s career will be like, going forward. He has the making of an excellent actor, so long as he has the right script and the right director. Timmy can rise above the script and direction, but we have no proof yet that Armie can do the same.

Will Armie still have hair by the time they film the sequel?

Maybe I'm biased but, I think with Timmy, Armie could improve his acting, learn more, take himself more serious, etc..

I thought Timmy was wonderful in CMBYN, but he still has to prove his own versatility (no pun). Elio was the most fully fleshed out character of them all with the benefit of the book for ample source material and Luca is not a hack director. It will be interesting to see what types of roles he gets offered moving forward. He was a non-entity and otherwise forgettable in ‘Lady Bird’ so hopefully he’ll get to play more dynamic lead characters like Elio in the future that display his range.

Armie seems to be angling for more acting cred and not so interested in being the focus, but building his resume in supporting and character parts. He even said in an interview that he’d rather be a character actor than some heartthrob. His success or failure will probably be determined on whether or not he can challenge himself to take risks and not rely on his looks, which he seems genuinely willing and eager to do. His agents and Hollywood may have other ideas though.

Someone somewhere mentioned Elizabeth being in talks with Today for more segments - and indeed she's threateni..uh..promising an appearance next week.

I know the popular opinion about Mrs. Hammer is that she's amusing and harmless, but I find her cringy and unappealing. Out of all of the problematic things that Hammer has said and done in the past, she's easily the worst thing about him in my opinion.

Loving the discussion about the Hammers house of horror. Perhaps Armie's obsession with female subs is a byproduct of his marriage being castration hell, where she makes decisions for the two of them and makes sure that he won't have much chance to become close with any other woman, on or off screen.

Also, Elizabeth might like the idea of her husband being with another man, maybe only in theory which is why she loved CMBYN (both the novel and the movie). Many women entertain that sort of fantasy. She'd still be in control of the whole scenario and there's no threat of female competition.

She's obviously taking full advantage of her husband being relatively famous. Her marriage and children are an asset. I'm not denying that she loves her family but she loves the attention, and making money out of it, even more.

i got attacked for it before, but I maintain that he's a limited actor. There are plenty of big names who fall into this category - it doesn't mean he can't give good performances, but he has to be cast properly. Well Armie himself has a very specific idea of what kind of films he wants to make for himself... obviously he pissed away that money to buy the rights to the Barbie drug lord story. It's not important per se. Depends on the movie, Fassbender's full frontal in Shame was very different from the nudity in Hunger and they both made sense. Going full frontal for a dark indi comedy at this point doesn't make sense for me. A full frontal in cmbyn sequel makes sense as Luca can opt for a more sexual and mature mood as both protagonists are older and the tone of the story gets heavier and more tragic.

Next week there are a lot of events in Europe, I believe two Paris premieres, a Rome premiere, the London screening and Q&A that Luca and Timmy are scheduled to be at. I'm not sure how long Armie will be in Sundance for so he might miss all of that. As for Crema, there's a screening of the film on the 29th which Luca is confirmed to be at. I assume if Elizabeth says they will be in Crema then they will turn up too.
