Will this movie be any good?

Kinda hard to top the original, but Meryl will be brilliant.

If Meryl and Emily Blunt are in it - I'm seeing it no matter what.

It doesn't need Andy's character - I hope Hathaway is not in it. I know - it's a slight - but she's not necessary.

by Anonymousreply 2July 22, 2025 3:30 AM

Unnecessary movie.

by Anonymousreply 3July 22, 2025 3:55 AM

I liked the first movie.

I don't see a reason for this second one, and sequels RARELY even come close to being as good as the original movie.

by Anonymousreply 4July 22, 2025 4:28 AM

I’ll never forget the jab Meryl took at Queen Bey when she won the Golden Globe for the first film. It was so shady and subtle.

What did she say?

by Anonymousreply 6July 22, 2025 4:40 AM

stop the "Queen Bey" stupidity. She's not a Queen. She's an illiterate wind-up doll.

by Anonymousreply 7July 22, 2025 4:47 AM

R7 Why do you keep calling this woman illiterate. Do you know what that word means. Having a thick southern accent doesn’t make one illiterate. Iono een’ think Elvis Presley was illiterate.

You've obviously never seen Halloween 5

R9 - Or Empire Strikes Back.

Meryl will have her hand in making this B-grade at a minimum, like she did with the first film.

I liked Meryl and Emily's characters - I want to see what happened to them. Also Stanley Tucci's character - did he eventually get a promotion. Anne's? Well, she dropped out of all that, so why should I care?

Also I think they need an Andre Leon Talley figure to round it out. That would be good fun.

by Anonymousreply 10July 22, 2025 4:27 PM

Cash grab.

by Anonymousreply 11July 22, 2025 4:28 PM

what plot is there! Andi writes a tell-all book about her time at Runway that becomes a best seller, then gets hired back at Runway to drum up publicity for a dying magazine?

by Anonymousreply 12July 22, 2025 4:29 PM

Emily Blunt’s character runs a Glossier style company and Stanley Tucci’s character is her ceo

by Anonymousreply 13July 22, 2025 4:31 PM

Poor mAnnE suffering from the Oscar curse.

No one did.

[quote] Or Empire Strikes Back.

The first film was Episode 4, you dingbat. It was written as a trilogy. The Devil Wears Prada it ain’t.

by Anonymousreply 16July 22, 2025 4:40 PM

I’m not watching an AnnE Cuntaway film.

by Anonymousreply 17July 22, 2025 4:42 PM

R12 - I don't think it centers around Anne's character. From what I've read online, Meryl's magazine is flailing in the e-commerce online world, whereas Emily's outlet is doing really well and she needs Emily's help. Something like that.

The naive ingenue thing is over and done. I think a lot of people are interested in characters and stories about the fashion world. You really don't see it much and when you do, it's so far from the truth and cheaply done.

R16 - whatever dude - the point is, Empire Strikes Back would never have been filmed without the blockbuster success of the first film.

Yes sequels can be a cash grab, but a lot of fans of the first project just want to see what happens next. There's a built-in curiosity. Like I said, I don't think Meryl will allow this to be garbage.

She elevated a lot of the dialogue and scenes of the first film.

Will Jarlsberg cheese make another cameo?

by Anonymousreply 19July 22, 2025 5:02 PM

R19 - sadly no - they tried to overplay their hand and ask for $17 per sandwich, up from $8 in 2007. Their role will be replaced by Gruyere.

by Anonymousreply 20July 22, 2025 5:07 PM

Actually there already has been a sequel to The Devil 😈 Wears Prada. It’s called The Devil Wears Nada.

by Anonymousreply 21July 22, 2025 5:20 PM

R21 - wasn't that the Lil Nas video?

by Anonymousreply 22July 22, 2025 5:35 PM

It's been confirmed that Adrian Grenier has been given extended time off from Trader Joe's to allow him to reprise his role.

by Anonymousreply 23July 23, 2025 6:24 AM

Remakes and sequels of movies that weren’t good the first time around.

by Anonymousreply 24July 23, 2025 6:46 AM

Enjoyed the first a lot although it dies when the story veers to the boyfriend and friends. when focused on the fashion press etc it’s great.
