Were you ever embarrassed to show off your body hair?
I went through puberty so early I didn’t even know what puberty was before I had a hairy chest. Not only that, my grandmother made a big deal about my first shave of my face and wanted me to call and update her like it was a big event.
Therefore, I always had a complex about any kind of facial hair, and especially any kind of body hair being displayed as I felt as if I were under a spotlight.
I grew out of it by the time I was an adult but I’m just wondering if I was the only one. Once in a while I still am afraid to raise my arm in public if I’m wearing a sleeveless shirt, as someone might comment on my armpit hair. Lord.
PS: I’m male by the way.

No, I haven’t, OP. I have no qualms about my body hair. I love when a guy lifts his arms in a short-sleeve shirt and you can see his underarm hair—it’s sexy.

Your issues aren't with body hair, it's that you grew up in a family with unhealthy boundaries.

I think that’s pretty normal. Most people going through people don’t want people looking at them and the changes happening to their body.

I’m Italian, so of course.

I had a friend in sixth grade who already had a very full bush when the rest of us were starting to grow pubic hair. Mine was thin and wispy, and you could use his as a pin cushion. You could have gotten a comb stuck in there. He was definitely embarrassed. I longed for one just like his. If not for the severe acne on his face, I would have pursued our friendship farther.

You shouldn’t have been. Quite a few gay men prefer hairless bodies and no facial hair (but not hairless heads)

R10 you wouldn't be friends with pizza faces? Were you stunningly handsome?

OP every post you make is stupid.

R13, the guy would pop these zits at every opportunity. I saw an extremely oily face; it wasn't appealing to me.

R16 I used to be embarrassed about my body and fat, but as I’ve gotten older, people my age now have worse bodies than I did/do.
Former fat kid.

I hate the trend of men shaving off all of their body hair.

Imagine being 12 and being scared to be a man. I’m 36 and now I wish I had the extra hair.

R17 I used to do this as an adolescent but as an adult I no longer care. I have thick eyebrows which I'm now grateful for. I just decided one day to embrace the look.

My brother and I, despite both having my mom's Eastern European/Jewish dark hair and eyes, are opposites when it comes to body hair. I have thick body hair pretty much everywhere except for my upper back/shoulders, while my brother took after my dad (his genetic mix is mostly Swedish and some English) and is virtually hairless—no chest hair, can't grow a beard, pretty much hairless arms and legs. I'm the total opposite.
There was a time when I was going through puberty that I was self-conscious about it, especially the patch of hair I have on my lower back running down and across my ass. However, when I came into my sexuality and discovered that I found body hair attractive on other men, I had the realization that it didn't really matter. I'm frankly glad I have body hair and like the way it looks. I am always disappointed when I see a naturally hairy man who obviously shaves it all off. If you have it, I think you should let it be. Trimming within reason is important, but shaving/waxing is too much work and I don't think it looks good.

I can remember being 13 and worrying about my family seeing my armpits when we took a vacation at the beach. I was also weird about facial hair and used my mom’s Nair on my mustache, which stung like hell. Seems pretty silly now, but I was an intensely private kid.

R23 I wouldn’t have had an issue with my body hair had people not made such a big deal about it. I hope your family left you alone about it.

It was fine actually. Nobody said a word.

I had an Italian fuck buddy who was super hairy and hated it. It was so long and thick though that it seems like it would be excruciating to wax off. I didn’t mind it because he was hot with a perfect dick but his back was a bit much. It almost felt like a hair sweater.

A question from a smoothie: can body hair fall out with age?
Some guys yes, some guys no?

I had a big full bush by 5th grade and a fully hairy chest by 8th grade. I don't think I had hair under my arms until I was in 10th grade or so. It was so odd! I'm a blend of Italian, Eastern European and Middle Eastern.
I shaved my chest beginning in 8th grade. This was in the 1980s, when it wasn't popular for guys to manscape. I was a nobody in middle school and high school and never wanted to draw attention to myself in any way. Being the hairy guy was not a thing I wanted to be known for. Thankfully we only changed for gym and didn't shower.
I can't remember when the back hair came. Probably in college. In my late 20s when I started to have a little cash to spend, I got that shit waxed every 6 weeks for years. Now I just have some whisps that come in here and there. I wax the back twice a year now--just before vacations.
