Stocking Up?
Shortages are expected in mid-May when warehouses are depleted of Chinese products that are still facing 145 percent tariffs. Even though Trump has signaled a change, there are no current negotiations.
This is going to be a lot like Covid shortages, except only for some products. Food may just be more expensive, but medicine or electronics or auto parts might not be available at all. It’s challenging to think exactly how this will hit.
What are people buying to prepare?

It’s sad to think about all those gigantic black dildos in Chinese factories, collecting dust.

R2, that thread is focused on the higher tariffs that have been paused. Coffee is not going to be a problem yet.
I think this is really going to hurt the Trump administration in a visible way. Companies will lose business because they can’t get supplies. Prices will go up. And even removing the tariffs right now, which is unlikely, wouldn’t resolve the problem very quickly.

Shoes will be an issue. Chinese imports are close to 60% of all US footwear imports.

So now, in addition to a housing crisis, we’re going to have a transportation crisis. New cars will be prohibitively expensive and old cars will be unfixable.
Every time I think of these idiots who voted for that fat ass, I want to bash their heads in. I blame them, not Trump, for this bullshit-he made it clear exactly what he planned to do and they chose to ignore it.
