The White Lotus Season 3 Part 7

Gun, gun, who's got the gun?

But watch out for those poisoned pong-pong tree seeds...

The 3 friends. How in the hell are they still friends after all these years, they act like they can’t stand each other. Or trust each other. And I really hope Parker Posey’s character gets shot.

by Anonymousreply 2March 26, 2025 3:14 AM

I'd like to see Belinda off Greg to avenge her friend Tanya. Doubt that happens, though.

by Anonymousreply 3March 26, 2025 3:15 AM

Sam nivola- I’m straight so we’re all queer, I mean clear. I like puss. Seeeeeee, my girlfriend is here watching us film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[quote] The 3 friends. How in the hell are they still friends after all these years, they act like they can’t stand each other. Or trust each other.

They're not friends.

They're "friends." Like most popular girls from high school were back then and then are later.

by Anonymousreply 5March 26, 2025 3:22 AM

I kind of hope the three blondes end up involved in the final shooting incident, just because they seem the least likely to be of all the characters. Everyone's expecting Greg and Belinda, or the Ratliffs, or even rick to be involved in the gun vioklence.

by Anonymousreply 6March 26, 2025 4:10 AM

I like Rick and Chelsea, there's real affection there.

R8 is just annoyed that the episode six didn’t screech to a halt for a half hour explicit incestuous flip- fuck sesh between Lochlan and Saxon, with the two actors then coming out as proud gay men during the post episode interview.

As was made abundantly clear to Belinda, she and Tanya weren’t friends.

Let's talk more about Jason Isaacs' shapely legs and Walt Goggins' golden chest.

by Anonymousreply 26March 26, 2025 12:45 PM

Came here to fangirl over Aimee Lou. Stayed to comment on the brother dynamic. The actor says that the motivation was Lachlan's need to get his brother's approval and to somehow connect with him. If that's the motivation, then I will be deeply disappointed. I have been looking forward to the moment that the little brother reveals his true character as manipulative and shockingly corrupted. That would have been interesting.

by Anonymousreply 27March 26, 2025 12:45 PM

R26, Goggins has an incredible body. Where has he been all my life?

[quote] I have been looking forward to the moment that the little brother reveals his true character as manipulative and shockingly corrupted. That would have been interesting.

So far, Lochlan has been only sweet and innocent, so it must be disappointing.

by Anonymousreply 32March 26, 2025 1:52 PM

[quote]They're "friends." Like most popular girls from high school were back then and then are later.

Yup, and I take it from them having to "update" each other on each other's lives initially, they only see and talk to each other occasionally.

I would not be shocked if they end this with a massive fight and then plan a vacation next year to catch up because that's what those kinds of groups do. They are toxic but their shared past always keeps them together.

R4, Sam Nivola is straight with an openly bisexual girlfriend. He's living the dream. The heterosexual dream.

by Anonymousreply 33March 26, 2025 1:55 PM

I don’t see the women’s relationship as “toxic” because they gossip about each other and have some long-held resentments. They have their shared past, which is important, and they are having a good time together.

by Anonymousreply 34March 26, 2025 2:01 PM

Well, they were having a good time together.

by Anonymousreply 35March 26, 2025 2:10 PM

[quote] I don’t see the women’s relationship as “toxic”

I too would not call it specifically “toxic”. It’s more about showing how women can’t trust each other and how even with friends they need to watch their back. It’s something for female viewers to relate to.

by Anonymousreply 36March 26, 2025 2:12 PM

Same plot device in Season 1. The relationship between Olivia and Paula was strained when Olivia went after Kai who had been having sex with Paula. This prompted Paula to set up the robbery, but the last time we see the two friends they are cuddling together in bed.

[quote] Patrick Schwarzenegger Won’t Watch the Rest of ‘White Lotus’ With His Family Because It Gets Too ‘Bonkers’

Even though Patrick Schwarzenegger’s family watched previous episodes of “The White Lotus” together, the actor said he’ll skip the group watch for the last few episodes of Season 3.

The actor, whose parents are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, said he could handle his family seeing his first-ever nude scene, but what’s coming up on the Max series is even more “bonkers.”

When asked if he’d excuse himself from the room during certain scenes, he replied, “I’ll definitely take a bathroom break. The last episodes are crazy.”

He didn’t get into specifics, but the previous two episodes featured spoiled rich character Saxon sharing a drug-fueled kiss with his younger brother Lochlan (Sam Nivola) which led to an incestuous threesome with Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) — one that both brothers claim they can’t remember.

When asked to elaborate on what happens after that, Schwarzenegger merely said, “It’s bonkers. It gets bonkers.”

by Anonymousreply 41March 26, 2025 3:14 PM

I wish the relationship between the 3 women was MORE toxic. It's all so undramatic and ordinary. I can't imagine any of those 3 actresses wanting to give up 7 months of their lives to play those boring characters (I wonder if they were promised some rewrites that never happened?). They may be getting a lot of press for the series now, but it'll be all forgotten in a few months and their careers won't be improved by it.

Well, at least they spent some time in the exotic sun and got to eat a lot of fruit salad.

The 3 women don't seem all that intensely connected to each other and also don't seem like "old friends". If they truly went at each other it would be more interesting than the relationship that's been portrayed thus far.

More bonkers than finding out his father had been fucking the housekeeper for his literal entire life, and having a bastard half-brother to show for it?

Which, just as a reminder, actually happen. And Patrick happened to be a HS senior at the time, in an interesting coincidence.

There's a thing about friendship, particularly long-lasting ones. At any point, your close friends are going to tend to be people who are actively in your life. Many (most?) people tend to live in changing circumstances, such as moving, changing jobs (or coming out as gay!). We make new friends; old friends fade out of your life, but many friends might retain the friend status through the years. You accumulate old friends, some of whom at one time would have been your best friends.

But people change and grow-apart. You may cherish your old friends primarily because of what they meant to you. When you visit with these friends, the interactions are going to based on your established relationship mixed with the people you have become. And people's lives are big and complicated. You're you, playing what you remember as a version of you, and you see in them a version of who they used to be. But you're not the same people who were once close friends.

Walton Goggins breakout role was with Michael Chikilis in The Shield.

He’s done a ton of TV and movies since.

He is excellent in Fallout.

by Anonymousreply 59March 26, 2025 8:11 PM

I have secret relatives revealed on both sides of my family. I bet a lot of you have skeletons in your closets that you might not even know about. My dad has a secret half-brother somewhere who was whisked away into adoption when my grandfather convinced his pregnant secretary to temporarily move to Atlanta and then give the baby up for adoption in order to save his marriage with my grandmother. It all came out anyway and then he divorced my grandmother and married the secretary anyway and had two daughters with her. I don’t think my half-aunts (one of whom is only two years older than me) know they have a full brother out there somewhere. I always check my 23andMe email alert for new relatives to see if he pops up. I love to cause drama so I would immediately reach out and invite him to the next big family function.

It’s all very WASP.

On-topic: I actually really like this idea that the girl group is more directly related to the whodunit aspect of the season than we have been assuming. It’s not something I’ve read anywhere but here.

r58, that's often true, but not always.

by Anonymousreply 63March 26, 2025 8:23 PM

There is the in character reason r56, white lotus characters are typically fit and thin and very much the type of people that watch their calories they eat. You think those three women are eating much carbs?!

And there is the real world reason. The actors also need to watch their weight, when you are filming a long scene you are going to have something that you feel okay with taking bites of when needed as you can do many takes of the scene. A light low calorie food, not some croissant.

by Anonymousreply 64March 26, 2025 9:27 PM

It’s surprising the 3 are still hanging out since one is a star and all. She gets kudos for still being friends with 2 childhood friends. White women are fucking super toxic. Shush, we all know that to be true. White women are each other’s worst enemies.

Gaitok is so hot. I want him to fuck me silly in the guard shack.

If I was at this resort, I’d have fucked almost every male there, plus Valentin’s friends.

You've forgotten that Jennifer Coolidge's character Tonya was always putting down the sweets and carbs at the breakfast table in both S1 and S2.

I would bet that the Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan characters (like the actresses themselves) probably have not have chocolate or pancakes since the Reagan administration.

They've established on the show that the White Lotus resorts around the world are run differently from location to location, and that this one is more oriented towards being healthy, so it makes sense the Hawaii and Sicily locations would have richer and more sinful options for breakfast, while this one would just have fruit.

I agree with R61 that he was outstanding on "Justified," but at the time he was pumping Nicole Kidman-huge levels of Botox into his admittedly large forehead. His performance was enough to outshine it, but it's pretty obnoxious. (Plus he had insanely bright veneers back then.)

[quote]I too would not call it specifically “toxic”. It’s more about showing how women can’t trust each other and how even with friends they need to watch their back. It’s something for female viewers to relate to.

The relationship the women have with each other is both normal and toxic. Hell, many gay men have groups like this too. I have a friend that used to fuck every guy I liked. I still think of him as a friend because we've been friends for 20+ years. I, however, no longer tell him anything about my life outside of the 1 to 2 times a year I see him. I learned.

However, one of the themes of this season is "karma," (along with spirituality and death) like this season's poster said, "Karma comes for everyone."

Laurie said it early on and then reiterated it again, the thing that Jacklyn did with Valentin she has done before. Everything the woman are doing and have gone through they've likely done before. One was even called out on doing the thing she used to do when they were younger.

There's something weird that can happen when you get around old friends from school: you immediately fall back into those old roles. The players in your lives may change but the social hierarchy doesn't. However, with these women, instead of breaking the "karmic cycle" they just do the same thing over and over again every time they get together. They would be better off being apart but they just can't let go of their old entanglements. They maybe even secretly love it. However, that doesn't mean it's good for their mental health or that it reflects every relationship they have with other women.

I need to rewatch the opening. It's the son of the Hawaiian masseuse, the one who wanted to open a spa with Tanya, her son saying be careful, my mom's out there? Then someone is randomly shooting everywhere but are they a mass shooter?

Could it be the guards trying to shoot? He prays to the Buddha statue but gives up. Is that a sign? Someone who mentioned Buddha?

[quote]Anyone saying it was totally normal and common has no boundaries.

I've only observed this discussion from afar up until now but I find it very telling, the way detractors of same-sex sibling incest often resort to personal attacks, as if knowing deep down they have no actual arguments against it beyond the (very subjective) icky sensation in their gut. They aren't even able to recognise that their own personal position wasn't arrived at through argument in the first place, but has always been there as a result of a very specific cultural context they were brought up in.

Love that Mike White is tackling this subject matter, I've never once encountered a good argument against it beyond "it's wrong because it feels wrong to me and I personally would never do it." It sometimes feels like the Enlightenment never happened when you're arguing with these people.

Why the uproar over incest? It’s a fucking DRAMA. You want new, interesting things to happen that are uncommon just like horror fans watch the increasingly popular Terrifier movies to new, interesting ways for Art the Clown to kill people.

Relax and enjoy the show.

by Anonymousreply 99March 27, 2025 10:50 AM

Kind of my point. R69

by Anonymousreply 100March 27, 2025 10:58 AM

I like Nicole Kidman, but I do NOT want her on The White Lotus.

by Anonymousreply 101March 27, 2025 11:05 AM

I was under the impression that at the start of E1 Zion had just arrived that day and was killing time with a meditation session while his Mom finished her work day. I am quietly hoping that E7 brings us up to the shooting and the real climax still comes from Greg’s dinner party.

by Anonymousreply 102March 27, 2025 11:30 AM

R89 it actually has nothing do to with “same sex”, it has to do with being siblings. If all teen siblings are hooking up on the down low and feel good about it, I am happy to be in the minority of people who never did that and wouldn’t. Gross.

by Anonymousreply 103March 27, 2025 11:47 AM

Nope, the same-sex bit is actually crucial because it takes away the main solid argument against it – the possibility of offspring.

[quote]Gross.

And there you go again, running back to your gut feeling like a blankie. No arguments, just vague distaste. And we're supposed to base our collective morals on that?

by Anonymousreply 104March 27, 2025 11:59 AM

R89 has a Nifty attitude about the subject.

by Anonymousreply 105March 27, 2025 12:00 PM

It's not about fantasising about it, it's about having an adult conversation about it. I'd never do it personally, but I have no issues with others doing it.

by Anonymousreply 106March 27, 2025 12:02 PM

I was reminded this episode of that iconic "I will not NOT be rich!" line from Renata Klein. Remember Big Little Lies? Seems like an eternity ago. Wish it had more to say about rich people, but I realise it wasn't that kind of show.

by Anonymousreply 107March 27, 2025 12:04 PM

R94, he’s HOT

by Anonymousreply 108March 27, 2025 12:28 PM

r93, I thought they were twins, but they're 3 years apart. The bucktooth gene is strong in that family.

by Anonymousreply 109March 27, 2025 12:55 PM

R104 thinking about hooking up with my brother or sister is gross to me. It needs to have more of an argument and supporting evidence? I’m done. I will happily be the “abnormal” one here.

by Anonymousreply 110March 27, 2025 1:03 PM

[quote]No arguments, just vague distaste.

sexy sluts

by Anonymousreply 112March 27, 2025 2:25 PM

Very curious why Gregary would want the Ratliffe boys at his party. I don’t think it’s for sex and I don’t think he’s jealous about Chloe.

by Anonymousreply 113March 27, 2025 2:46 PM

I'm curious why gregory would spell his name that way

by Anonymousreply 114March 27, 2025 3:05 PM

Greg-Gary

by Anonymousreply 115March 27, 2025 3:07 PM

He wants Saxon to do something for him. Possibly Belinda related. He’ll threaten to tell Tim about Saxon and Lochlan’s hookup if Saxon doesn’t comply. He’s got Saxon by the balls.

by Anonymousreply 116March 27, 2025 3:22 PM

That makes sense, except what could he possibly need Saxon to do? He's surely got a staff of his own goons in Thailand.

by Anonymousreply 117March 27, 2025 3:23 PM

I think it’s just a plot contrivance to get everyone together.

by Anonymousreply 118March 27, 2025 3:25 PM

Shake Saxon down for money?

by Anonymousreply 119March 27, 2025 3:37 PM

I have seen no indication that Chloe told Greg about Saxon and Lochlan hooking up. That theory seems like quite a leap.

by Anonymousreply 120March 27, 2025 3:38 PM

We do know that the yacht crew talks to Greg-Gary

by Anonymousreply 121March 27, 2025 3:49 PM

But Chloe paid the yacht crew off, I thought?

by Anonymousreply 122March 27, 2025 3:54 PM

Greg seemed very sure something happened, so whatever she paid the crew didn't keep him completely in the dark. It wasn't hard to guess anyway.

by Anonymousreply 123March 27, 2025 3:56 PM

He probably has cameras

by Anonymousreply 128March 27, 2025 5:14 PM

Ladies! It’s *GreGary*.

by Anonymousreply 129March 27, 2025 6:00 PM

[quote]It’s an important element in the story, showing that Saxon wanted his own genitals to rub on fabric that had held his brother’s.

No, it's a borderline-inconsequential event, and presumably added to the plot solely to make it clearer to the audience – via a form of visual cue – that the brothers weren't merely "imagining things" while rolling on molly. Both Saxon, as well as the audience, immediately clocked something was "off" from that aspect alone, thus prompting his subsequent flashbacks.

Also, please spare us your incest fetish. It's cringe.

by Anonymousreply 130March 27, 2025 6:05 PM

There was all that theorizing that Greg or whatever we're calling him was gay when his photo was on Quentin's yacht - maybe he wants to blackmail the brothers to be his sexual playthings

by Anonymousreply 131March 27, 2025 6:07 PM

I don’t find it necessary to call John Gries’s character anything but Greg (which is the character’s real name). Making a portmanteau of his two names is really frau-ish tbh.

by Anonymousreply 132March 27, 2025 6:09 PM

Base on the amount of thinly disguised incest porn online, I think an incest fetish is not unusual. Of course they are usually “step-fathers” and “step-brothers” in porn, but I think that’s just to make it seem acceptable.

by Anonymousreply 133March 27, 2025 6:12 PM

Water droplets have never been shot so beautifully, I now understand why this took almost seven months to film.

by Anonymousreply 134March 27, 2025 6:13 PM

[quote]I need to rewatch the opening. It's the son of the Hawaiian masseuse, the one who wanted to open a spa with Tanya, her son saying be careful, my mom's out there? Then someone is randomly shooting everywhere but are they a mass shooter?

I rewatched the opener last week. It at least infers that Zion had only just arrived, but upon rewatch you can tell that's not the case. The only thing we can see is Zion having a meditation session with the woman who's also been helping Rick and his tortured thoughts. You can't even tell which day it takes place. To break it down: Zion first hears a couple of distant sounds that seemed to be gunfire, but then 10 seconds later the gunshots have gotten significantly closer. Finally they see various people running – all impossible to ID – and several gun shots hit the meditation pavilion. All we know is that it takes place in the middle of the day, and there appears to be Gaitak or Pornchai (or another employee in a khaki uniform) floating face-down in the water (Zion jumped into a shallow lagoon of some sort).

[quote]R89, do you seriously believe that Mike White's take away from this will be that it's all good? There's no way the brothers walk away from this in good shape in the end.

I agree with you, but OTOH the brothers' fairly brief incest moment may very well be overshadowed by Piper or one of their parents getting shot. The entire Ratliff family is a walking tragedy; it's only a question of how bad it gets. (But yes, I suspect the first thing we'll see on the next show is Lachlan's "HOLY FUCK" realization at the monastery; we only saw the first bit.)

by Anonymousreply 135March 27, 2025 6:13 PM

[quote]I don’t find it necessary to call John Gries’s character anything but Greg (which is the character’s real name). Making a portmanteau of his two names is really frau-ish tbh.

I support use of both of his chosen names.

by Anonymousreply 136March 27, 2025 6:13 PM

[quote]That makes sense, except what could he possibly need Saxon to do? He's surely got a staff of his own goons in Thailand.

True, but we still have no idea what Greg's master plan is here. For all we know it could have something to do with whatever shit Timothy's gotten himself into back in the States. Or maybe Greg needs someone "unassuming" – like, say, a friendly looking and hot American finance bro, and also clearly affluent (for now) – to do something for him at the hotel.

Or it could just be that he's a jealous asshole and planning to kill Saxon for fucking his wife. (He may not know that Lochlan was the one who banged his wife, and it's possible the only "action" Saxon got was the handjob from his brother, *not* Chloe.)

[quote]I think it’s just a plot contrivance to get everyone together.

Actually, what I suspect may be the contrivance here is placing both Piper & Lochlan well outside of both the hotel's vicinity as well as Greg's house – meaning it's conceivable either he or another villain could break in and hold one or both hostage. (What I'm also wondering is if Lochlan being gone from the hotel for two nights in the row – the previous night being spent on the S.S. Incest – is somehow relevant.)

[quote]Of course he has cameras on board his luxury yacht!

Not sure if you've ever been on a large yacht, but this would be extremely weird in the real world. Nobody puts cameras in staterooms / bedrooms, and what possible reason could there be for having them in a yacht's living areas? All "real" yachts (at least 100 feet long) have a full-time crew, with at least one person on board 24/7, plus obviously marinas have their own security systems. Finally, Greg presumably has a dock near his extremely lavish house, and it's safe to assume it has cameras or an alarm system of some sort.

And c'mon: Greg may be mysterious, but he's definitely no idiot, and he knows full well that a former escort he "picked up" in Dubai isn't the type to be faithful. He also has eyes and met the Ratliff boys, and even if he's straight, he could've immediately clocked that Chloe might hook up with one or both of them.

[quote]I have seen no indication that Chloe told Greg about Saxon and Lochlan hooking up.

Same. This is a significant stretch: I think the core problem is Greg assuming *Saxon* fucked Chloe, not Lochlan, and is either jealous about it (though he didn't seem like it) or suspects Saxon is morally ambiguous – good call if so – and possibly willing to participate in his plan, particularly since Rick's conveniently MIA in Bangkok for a second night as well.

by Anonymousreply 137March 27, 2025 6:35 PM

The dead body looked to be a dark haired male wearing a white or khaki colored collard shirt.

It’s not bald Greg, that’s for sure.

by Anonymousreply 138March 27, 2025 6:40 PM

Greg wants to use saxon for something because he knows Saxon’s not a morally upright guy if he sleeps with someone else’s girlfriend. Greg’s got something shady planned and he needs someone like saxon to be involved.

And from the preview of Saxon and Tim, sounds like Saxon will go for it.

by Anonymousreply 139March 27, 2025 6:52 PM

[quote] I don’t find it necessary to call John Gries’s character anything but Greg (which is the character’s real name).

That's not really been established as a fact yet. For all we know, "Gary" is his real name and "Greg" was the pseudonym--or he may even have a third real first name we haven't been told yet.

by Anonymousreply 140March 27, 2025 6:59 PM

It doesn’t make any sense that Greg would rely on a stranger when he’s got a staff and friends.

by Anonymousreply 141March 27, 2025 7:00 PM

[quote] That makes sense, except what could he possibly need Saxon to do?

Well, some of it is at least so "bonkers", that Patrick doesn't want to be in the room while his family is watching, so it should be.good - enough to make the Nellies here whine Gross and Cringe.

He was talking about Eps 5 & 6

by Anonymousreply 143March 27, 2025 7:34 PM

R79 Why would they be there? They are all the way in Bangkok. And why would Sam confront the hotel owner?

by Anonymousreply 144March 27, 2025 7:39 PM

R131 Quentin said he had fallen for a straight cowboy. Later we learn that he was talking about Greg. It would make zero sense for him to be with Chloe if he was gay. He was with Tanya for the money, but with Chloe? And getting jealous when he saw her on the yacht getting cozy with Saxon. Actually, even before that, when he saw them exchanging looks at the dinner.

by Anonymousreply 145March 27, 2025 7:48 PM

Okay well that would be disappointing. In an interview posted yesterday he says that the "rest of the episodes are bonkers", but is not specific.

by Anonymousreply 146March 27, 2025 7:50 PM

r131, Quentin was in love with a cowboy who was straight. It's quite possible Greg/Gary was using Quentin to kill Tanya on the strength of unrequited love and money for his manse.

Do you Americans really eat fruit with a knife and fork?

by Anonymousreply 148March 27, 2025 7:53 PM

[quote]The dead body looked to be a dark haired male wearing a white or khaki colored collard shirt.

Right – meaning it's almost certainly a Thai employee of the hotel, all of whom have dark hair and wear khaki shirts.

[quote]Okay well that would be disappointing. In an interview posted yesterday he says that the "rest of the episodes are bonkers", but is not specific.

They've been saying THE ENTIRE FUCKING SEASON that it was "by fire the best to date" because "Mike had SO much more time to write this time around. Also that it would "only get better & better" as the season progressed. Instead it's merely gotten more & more "meh," brief incest storyline notwithstanding.

It's not necessarily too late to turn the ship around, but most of the episodes (including this week's, again minus the S.S. Philadelphia, a.k.a. the "yacht of brotherly love").

[quote]Do you Americans really eat fruit with a knife and fork?

Sure, depending on the fruit. They're usually needed for melon of some sort. Still, I wouldn't call it commonplace, unless you're counting slicing oranges or apples into individual pieces.

by Anonymousreply 149March 27, 2025 7:56 PM

When they're cut up and presented as dish on a dish, yes. whole fruit, no.

by Anonymousreply 150March 27, 2025 7:57 PM

[quote]I don’t find it necessary to call John Gries’s character anything but Greg (which is the character’s real name).

I don't think it's that big of a deal to call him GreGary or Gary. Only one person on the series knows he is Greg. To everyone else he's Gary. Unless Belinda is in a scene with him, all the other characters will call him Gary and even she might still call him Gary since she wouldn't want to piss him off.

[quote](He may not know that Lochlan was the one who banged his wife, and it's possible the only "action" Saxon got was the handjob from his brother, *not* Chloe.)

This is tricky. When Greg/Gary asks which brother she slept with, she doesn't tell him.

But when Chloe is talking to Saxon, she claims she told him that it was Saxon that slept with her.

She doesn't tell Saxon he wants to see *both* brothers until the end of their conversation when she throws in, "Bring your brother!" She makes it sound like he only wants to see Saxon.

However, both brothers actually slept with her. We saw Saxon start off making out with Chloe. He also says he fucked her and she doesn't deny it, it's just later Lachlan did too while giving him a hand job.

She does seem to be protecting Lachlan.

[quote]He also has eyes and met the Ratliff boys, and even if he's straight, he could've immediately clocked that Chloe might hook up with one or both of them.

Exactly, all he needs to know is that she left the doc with some men and Chelsea while everyone else was gone. He knows what kind of person Chloe is.

by Anonymousreply 151March 27, 2025 8:01 PM

I think Greg is going to pressure Saxon into fencing the jewels that were stolen in the heist by his henchmen the three Russians. This connection handily ropes our three frenemies into the main plot -up until now they’ve been isolated from the interconnections between the other tourists

by Anonymousreply 152March 27, 2025 8:06 PM

Interesting, Piratejenny1

by Anonymousreply 153March 27, 2025 8:09 PM

Who are the people you least suspect to be the shooter?

Least: -wannabe Buddhist daughter, because she meditates and feels God - the 3 blonde frau - the mousey tooth one, gf of actor Gibbous, some weird name, has a hairline like Jack Nicholson - the Quebec hooker - the hotel dancer/worker in love with the guard - the spa lady, Zion's mom -suicidal dad (too obvious) - the guy who wants revenge for never knowing his father ( too obvious) - Greg/Gary whatever ( too obvious) -the mysterious owner and his wife -( they probably don't do anything because why would you shoot up your own resort?)

Suspects and motives: - the younger brother of the weird Duke fam, Lochlan? (He's just psycho) -the older brother (same reason) -the guard in love with the hotel lady ( she dies somehow and he goes berserk defending her- why else would they show these people and build up a storyline?)** - sam Rockwell - He's crazy enough to do it, though it doesn't make sense, he is crazy. - The Southern mom with a pill problem (the 90s it girl)- something about not wanting to live anymore if she didn't have any money

Primary suspects: someone in the Duke family or the hotel guard

R152 Why would Greg rob some shitty little jewelry store that is located in a resort where he eats every day and the stuff knows him, not that far away from his house. Guy has a mansion right above the world famous resort, has a gigantic yacht. That jewelery would be pennies to him

by Anonymousreply 158March 27, 2025 9:05 PM

by Anonymousreply 160March 27, 2025 9:07 PM

Funny how Sam Rockwell and the actress that plays Sritala are billed as the main cast, while actress portraying Chloe is recurring, when she had more screen time than those two combined. She definitely has a bigger role than Piper and maybe even some other main cast names

by Anonymousreply 170March 27, 2025 10:04 PM

[quote]Michelle (Chloe) LeBon needs a new agent. Stat!

I was just saying this. They should have negotiated to get her in the opening credits. She has a huge role.

Originally Francesca Corney was hired to play the role. However, after she made it to Thailand, and was hanging out with the cast Mike let her go and hired Le Bon. The official word is that the original actress looked too young to be with Jon Gries, so they wanted someone older. Strangely she would have been less creepy with Lachlan.

Some people speculated that hiring her would have also played into stereotypes about Thailand (as a sex worker) that they didn't necessarily want to touch. Le Bon's people may have been so happy to get her on the show so quickly they didn't want to push it but they really should have.

Here are the original Chloe and Chelsea.

Over dinner tonight my husband and I were remembering how fabulous Parker Posey was as that scary Southern DA in the true crime TV movie about the murder of the wife played by Toni Colette on the staircase by her philandering gay husband played by Colin Firth.

Parker really can be quite wonderful with good material.

by Anonymousreply 197March 28, 2025 4:08 AM

My all-time favorite Parker Posey character is the horrible yuppie woman in "Best in Show." I love her so much when she's screaming in the hotel room: "You call yourself a maid?" "A pet store downstairs? What are you, a wizard, a genius? Why didn't you tell me that before?"

by Anonymousreply 198March 28, 2025 4:19 AM

Do we think we'll get some non-white guests next season? Rich, privileged fuckers come in all colours, after all. I know Mike doesn't have a writers' room and that he can only write from his own experience, but still. The whole conceit of white guests versus the oppressed exotic locals might get a bit stale after four seasons.

by Anonymousreply 199March 28, 2025 4:59 AM

Belinda is a guest this season, and she's not white. Neither is her son Zion, who is also a guest.

Last season, Ethan was played by Will Sharpe, who is Eurasian. And his wife Harper was Puerto Rican, and was the actress who played her, Aubrey Plaza.

by Anonymousreply 200March 28, 2025 5:22 AM

R198 I liked Best in Show, though not my favorite Parker Posey performance. But I love the story that the director Christopher Guest tells - one quirk of her character and her husband's in the movie is that they are both described as adults with braces. Parker showed up for the first day of the shoot with a full mouth of actual braces. Commitment to the role.

by Anonymousreply 201March 28, 2025 5:43 AM

Carrie Coon said the temperature while they were there was frequently above 110F, and very humid, so it's something of a miracle that they don't appear more sweaty than they do - even indoors as they need to turn off the AC while shooting. That does seem remarkable. I assumed Rick and Greg's clammy exteriors were wholly intentional.

It’s interesting how in a cast quiz for Vanity Fair, Sam Nivola asks the other cast members if they know what actor inspired him to start acting. Jason Isaacs guessed Montgomery Clift.

Isaacs is a saucy bitch!

R207 Apparently standard AC doesn't meet the requirements for the audio recording. Seems like something they could take care of in post-production, but that's what she said. At least they should be able to turn it off and on around the take.

I always thought Carrie Coon would have a bigger career because she was so good in The Leftovers. Nice to see her get a good part. I know this is a whole different thread but it is surprising how often actors come off a hot role in a show and then their career just flounders.

To all the carb freaks; The servings of fruit, the three girlfriends are eating are loaded with just as much sugar as a normal serving of flour pancakes/ croissants, etc. The fruit however is healthier, because they are whole foods, that contain fiber, which slows down the digestion/ absorption of its sugar. Therefore, lower spikes of insulin... enough.

r207, unless it's filmed in a studio built for filming (a lot of tv series are shot in studios and it gets so cold that the crew are wearing puffer jackets), a/c units on location are too noisy to record sound for sound continuity purposes (we also turn off heating, phones, PA connections).. If we film in a practical kitchen, we have to turn off refrigerators and freezers as well. Unless we know if there is a long set up between takes (20 min or more), a/c won't be turned on because it takes a bit for it to gear up and to close down.

by Anonymousreply 220March 28, 2025 12:11 PM

by Anonymousreply 221March 28, 2025 12:14 PM

Love Carrie Coon but I do wonder if her dreadfully affected performance in The Gilded Age (much of it not her fault due to Julian Fellowes' lousy scripts) hasn't kept her from getting better offers. She was smart to take on this high-profile role on WL just because it's closer to her real persona (even if, so far, she hasn't gotten to do much of interest).

by Anonymousreply 222March 28, 2025 1:04 PM

The Gilded Age is a gilded cage for her. No signs of a talented actress under all those costumes and stiff demeanor.

Finally! I've been WANTING to see some commentary on the weather, if only because Thailand has specific seasons when you should definitely *not* go. It varies depending on the region, but Koh Samui's in the Gulf of Thailand, and its peak season (mostly dry & mild, at least by Thai terms) is Dec-Feb. March thru May are hot & sticky – think South Florida in August, but worse – and the rainy season is June-August. OTOH the *worst* time to go is monsoon season (Sept-Nov), which is the rainy season on steroids, and they wrapped last August barely in the nick of time.

I've been curious if this shoot was an unusually miserable one – the Med is hot AF in the summer, but that's still way better than monsoon season – and it sounds like it was to some extent. (But OTOH the entire cast was housed in $2,000/night hotel villas for six months, so I doubt they were that stressed.)

[quote]My all-time favorite Parker Posey character is the horrible yuppie woman in "Best in Show."

Same, and I remain pissed that this show is largely wasting her talents. By any reasonable measure, Victoria should have ended up as iconic of a character as Tonya. But this season's writing just isn't up to snuff there.

[quote]Apparently standard AC doesn't meet the requirements for the audio recording. Seems like something they could take care of in post-production, but that's what she said.

This is standard for location shoots in general btw, but yes, I'm surprised no one's developed something akin to the same noise-cancellation headphones or AirPods in common use – "tuned" more or less to ignore / not record whatever sound frequency the A/C units are on.

[quote]I always thought Carrie Coon would have a bigger career because she was so good in The Leftovers.

True, but to be fair, she's managed to stand out as the lead amongst a truly talented bevy of actors on "The Gilded Age." No small feat! (Particularly when many of her scenes are with the likes of Nathan Lane!)

[quote]The Gilded Age is a gilded cage for her. No signs of a talented actress under all those costumes and stiff demeanor.

Utterly bizarre take, and I can only assume you & R223 are weird AF. (And as noted, Emmy voters clearly disagree that the role has "no signs of a talented actress.")

by Anonymousreply 233March 28, 2025 5:32 PM

The Carrie Coon hater on here is fucking deranged. And extremely repetitious (MULTIPLE comments about her Gilded Age performance which, yes, was Emmy-nominated).

by Anonymousreply 234March 28, 2025 5:37 PM

And finally: no, Lochlan wasn't "hot" for Saxon, and it in no way helps him as a character. (But he MIGHT be kinda-sorta-possibly bi.)

----------------

Where do you think Lochlan falls in terms of his own sexuality?

I think he doesn't know. I had a long conversation with Mike before we started. I knew I needed to ask him a few questions, but the main one that I wanted to know was "where does Lochlan wind up at the end of this season?" Is the nature of The White Lotus that everyone leaves different than when they came in? Everyone changes and everyone grows for better or for worse?” And he was like, "No, that would be a totally reductive view of what humanity is and the way people react to real life things. Of course, some people change and some people are open to change and some people don't, and that's just how it is."

I don't think Lochlan really does change. Without revealing exactly what happens, I think that Lochlan comes to The White Lotus completely lost and he leaves completely lost. He is not really any bit more clear about his life than he was when he came in. I think that applies to his sexuality, sure. I think he doesn't know whether he likes guys or girls or both or whatever. I think the same goes for everything in his life, too. UNC, Duke—he just does not know. Maybe he has a little bit of closure in the fact that he sort of recognizes and knows that he does not know by the end. But that’s the most he gets.

by Anonymousreply 236March 28, 2025 6:04 PM

Loclan is in high school. Just how clear about his life should he be?

How can someone “not know” whether he likes boys or girls? For most people that’s pretty automatic. I suppose he can not know if he will ever act on any same sex attraction that he may feel, but the attraction is either there or it isn’t there. It’s no mystery.

I won't pretend to understand it, either, but quite a few people claim they didn't realize their actual sexual orientation until high school or beyond. I can see why this might be the case either in extreme conservative families that still think being gay is a "lifestyle choice," or if a closeted kid grows up in any sort of repressive environment, but just as a reminder, even our real-life VP "wondered if he might be gay" at around Lochlan's age.

I've known I liked boys since around age 11, but I was an early bloomer.

I'll sure as fuck jump to a few. Guess which other "straight" actor came out after his decidedly queer storyline on S1? Lukas Gage. Also Kit Connor after "Heartstopper" S1. (Yes, I know neither had a known dating history with girls/women. But still.)

Still-closeted actors have also long been drawn to queer-coded entertainment. Think Colton Haynes and "Teen Wolf," or then-still-"straight" Kristen Stewart in "The Runaways." Or Jake G. in "Brokeback."

R251 The earthquake was 650 miles from Bangkok. That’s a long ass way. I’m guessing the damage there will be some high profile but local scenes, like the collapsing under construction high rise and the pool water.

[quote]I assumed Gilded Age was a stuffy costume drama, which may turn out to be the case, but I've been convinced by the Coon debate here, to add it to my watchlist.

It was a bit more serious in Season 1, but more fun in Season 2--which probably saved it from cancellation.

The show started out with more of a focus on Louisa Jacobson's, Marian character and Christine Baranski's, Agnes character but has shifted more towards Bertha and George Russell played by Carrie Coon and Morgan Spector. She's the most interesting character on the show who is always up to something! So I don't think that change will be reversed.

It's a step above a soap opera and more interesting than Downtown, where for *nearly all of the characters the historical drama is pretty frivolous, so it's not a heavy struggle to watch.

*Except for the black character Peggy, who goes through some kind of time frame relevant fresh hell every season with the support of her mom played by wonderful Audra McDonald!

However, Carrie really helps carry the show. She does a wonderful job on it and at this point she's the main draw.

by Anonymousreply 262March 29, 2025 1:47 AM

I've still got a number of questions about how Quentin and crew originally intended for Tonya to die, before things took a turn. Niccolo had rope, duct tape and a gun in his duffle, but what was he planning after getting her into the tender back to the hotel? I'm assuming they would want her body to be found, but without any signs of foul play. Was Niccolo going to push her overboard and hold her underwater til she drowned? If they were to weigh her body down, and hope it was never recovered, what would be the story as to how she disappeared? As simply a missing person, it would hinder Greg's ability to make the insurance claims or execute her will. And what about all her and Portia's luggage? If that wasn't going with her, it would've made Tonya even more suspicious. The way things worked out, was actually quite fortuitous for Greg.

by Anonymousreply 263March 29, 2025 7:36 AM

In the first two seasons, the more comic characters are the ones to die. No one this season is the least bit funny. .

by Anonymousreply 264March 29, 2025 12:08 PM

Viewers' memories of the circumstances of Tanya's death are so hazy (including mine) it would behoove Mike White to have a little refresher course of her last moments before we get any farther with Greg/Gary's manipulations of Belinda.

by Anonymousreply 265March 29, 2025 12:10 PM

R263, we don’t know exactly what was to happen, only that Quentin and his group were not professionals. The series of mistakes that worked out to Greg’s benefit was what really sold me on the show. It was so shocking and ironic that it seemed like real life.

There's been a lot of discussions on social media as to why Streisand's memoir is so prominently featured in this episode (many characters are seen reading books, but the camera angles block out the front and back covers, so there's no way of knowing what they're reading - except Jaclyn fully displaying Barbra's cover). Some idiots on Barbra's Facebook 'fan page' are suggesting this will hint that Barbra makes a surprise appearance in the last episode !

Here's how I see it. IRL, Streisand has said for years she's been the subject of gossip and lies since she started in Hollywood 60 years ago. She never could understand why reporters would make up stories about her when, as she always said, 'the truth is far more interesting!'. She promised she would release her memoir some day, and push the lies and gossip aside, and tell the truth about her life. She released the book in November, 2023 - and that's the book the character Jaclyn (the popular TV actress from LA) is reading by the pool.

A few minutes later, we see Jaclyn had a bit of a meltdown in her hotel room, when she confronts her friend and tells her she can't believe the two of them were gossiping behind her back, and didn't believe her when she told them the truth about Valentin visiting her room the night before. Their 'gossip' was more entertaining than the truth, and they didn't believe her -and this hurt her. If her two besties aren't on her side, who is ? She declared she was surrounded by gossip and lies every day of her life in LA, so she tried to escape it going to Thailand with 'her two best friends'...and they're as bad as the people she left behind.

It was a moving scene, nicely juxtaposed with her previous scene reading Barbra's memoir, which foreshadowed her melt-down.

R257, the problem with Carrie Coon's role in The Gilded Age is that it doesn't ask anything special from her. She's a great actress. She should have been cast as Sinatra, the Big Bad of Hulu's "Paradise." Juilanne Nicholson is fine, but Coon would have lit it up. (You've never heard of the show? It's worth watching just for James Marsden, he's fantastic).

You people keep going on and on about friendships. Friendship in adulthood isn’t the same as friendship as a kid or teen.

A friend in adulthood is when you can go months without seeing one another and talking via text or phone here and there but when you do get together you just pick up where you left off.

No one in their 40s is seeing their lifelong friends daily or hanging out all the time. That doesn’t mean they aren’t friends.

by Anonymousreply 276March 29, 2025 4:28 PM

R59 that was a great role for him but hardly a breakout. “Breakout” usually means a role that makes you a star.

Fallout and this series are doing that.

by Anonymousreply 277March 29, 2025 4:29 PM

R217 oh please. Carrie Coon has 2% more body fat than Leslie Bibb and the pizza photo was taken to make herself relatable like Jennifer Lawrence.

by Anonymousreply 278March 29, 2025 4:36 PM

Carrie Coon is a good actress but The Gilded Age does not show evidence of that. And it’s not the writing. Her character is supposed to be kind of crisp, hard ice queen like Lady Mary, but Coon looks and behaves like a sour German hausfrau.

And to the person bringing up Emmy nominations, grow up. I bet you think Beyonce and Taylor Swift deserve all those Grammys.

by Anonymousreply 279March 29, 2025 4:46 PM

Ive noticed a lot of wealthy people eat fruit for breakfast. Rarely bacon and eggs. Only sometimes. And if they do have bacon and eggs they still have a side plate of fruit.

I’ve seen it firsthand, a family eating half a grapefruit for breakfast while I ate spinach eggs and toast.

R263 Tanya killing the gays on the boat put a spanner in Greg’s plans. Because the boat was found littered with bodies and featured a photograph of him with Quentin. He wouldn’t be hiding out in Asia from the Italians if Quentin had sailed away.

by Anonymousreply 281March 29, 2025 4:55 PM

Amanda Peet was originally cast as Bertha in The Gilded Age but dropped out due to Covid messing with her schedule. She was co-producing The Chair for Netflix and decided she had to go do that, I think she would have been far more effective than Coon. Her beauty and ice queen haughtiness would have served the soap opera aspect of TGA very well.

I do agree with the poster upthread who suggested Coon would have been a better Sinatra in Paradise than Julianne Nicholson, good as she was. I’m not sure Coon woukd have done it even if she was available because the character’s dead child storyline sort of echoed the one she played in The Leftovers.

by Anonymousreply 282March 29, 2025 4:58 PM

Carrie Coon always reminds me of Anne Baxter as Cora in Aged in Wood. Or maybe I mean Footsteps on the Ceiling.

Either way, she's too short for that gesture.

by Anonymousreply 283March 29, 2025 5:22 PM

R255 first season of Gilded Age is uneven but 2nd season is a hoot. And Carrie Coon is fantastic throughout.

I am a huge Carrie Coon fan and think she's having fun on Gilded Age but now that somebody's said it I think I agree that she was kind of miscast. She's far too earthy and relatable a type - the role could've used some haughtiness that doesn't really come naturally to her. Her and Morgan Spector do have really hot chemistry though, I hope they lean into that more. That show needs more sex. Or at least Morgan naked. Him and Claybourne Elder should have a steam room fling.

[quote]She's far too earthy and relatable a type - the role could've used some haughtiness that doesn't really come naturally to her.

Couldn't disagree more, the haughtiness belongs to the likes of Mrs. Astor and Agnes van Rhijn. Coon plays a nouveau riche type of character, so earthy and relatable is perfect for her. There needs to be some contrast between these two groups of people, otherwise what's the point. And it's not like she's playing Bertha like a country yokel either, she's a pretty normal person who often loses her temper in private.

by Anonymousreply 293March 29, 2025 6:34 PM

I know it would not be helpful as far as character color goes, but wouldn't you expect a number of them to be reading on Kindles?

by Anonymousreply 294March 29, 2025 7:03 PM

Only the poors don’t buy real books.

by Anonymousreply 295March 29, 2025 7:05 PM

R294, Part of having a book with you (these days) is broadcasting to everyone that you're reading a book. The Kindle doesn't serve that.

R296 And reading comprehension, patience, attention span is different with print inhyour hands vs. lit up screens in front of you. The use of kindle and other devices for "reading for pleasure" has decreased.

Books (like vinyl) are making a resurgence.

by Anonymousreply 299March 29, 2025 8:15 PM

R287 How? There are later in life lesbians who said that they were once attracted to men and then over time that attraction completely disappeared. You have women who claimed to be lesbians and being repulsed by men only to later in life discover that they are actually bisexual. I'm sure there are men like that out there as well.

by Anonymousreply 300March 29, 2025 8:44 PM

All that these rich tourists do when they come to another country is hang out at the resort. We mostly see them hanging by the pool or eating at talking in the restaurant. What's the point of traveling halfway around the world just to hang at the pool. They could have done that back home. Why not explore the cities, the nature, the local culture?

by Anonymousreply 301March 29, 2025 8:46 PM

Or at least go to the nearby beach.

by Anonymousreply 302March 29, 2025 9:14 PM

or strip club

by Anonymousreply 303March 29, 2025 9:14 PM

As I said—delusions. No adult male ever woke up one day and said gee whiz, I just now learned to like cock. Wel, if they did, they were nuts.

by Anonymousreply 304March 29, 2025 9:20 PM

Thanks r298 that was a charming interview.

[quote]What's the point of traveling halfway around the world just to hang at the pool. They could have done that back home. Why not explore the cities, the nature, the local culture?

I wonder the same thing about people who go on cruises in the Caribbean or to Mexico, or from Athens to the Greeks islands. For their shore excursions, they want go to the local beaches. They could do that back in the U.S., by going to Florida or even to Lake Michigan. I pick excursions that focus on the local culture and history. I'm not going to pay to travel thousands of miles away just to go to a beach or lounge at a resort.

by Anonymousreply 306March 29, 2025 9:25 PM

I always figured that the people who go on vacation and don’t leave the resorts just want to get drunk all day. Everyone has their own idea of a vacation…

by Anonymousreply 307March 29, 2025 9:39 PM

R306 - you obviously don’t live in a part of North America that gets snow and cold six months of the year.

by Anonymousreply 308March 29, 2025 9:40 PM

It's just weird to me how time changes.. Parker Posey was a young it girl and now just a few decades later. She's acting like a '60s woman, like the Bewitched mother or Auntie Mame.

I know everyone gets old and kind of mellows out but like, do they subconsciously start acting like the people who were old when they were young? I guess it's better than trying to hold on to the youth. Just say f it and start acting like a much older person, whatever your concept of that is.

by Anonymousreply 309March 29, 2025 10:49 PM

Well, Parker is playing a character, after all. And very much a type that was popular in 1960s sitcoms and TV movies.

by Anonymousreply 310March 29, 2025 10:58 PM

It would be more realistic for many of the wealthy characters to carry Kindles (especially the ones like Jaclyn carrying ridiculously heavy tomes with them, or the ones who are wealthy but seem to read a lot who would want multiple books available to them, like Aubrey Plaza's Harper last season), but it really is fun to see what they're reading.

I would assume some of the characters ONLY read when they're staying in luxury resorts, like Shane the first season or Saxon this season. (We've of course yet to see Saxon with a book.)

by Anonymousreply 311March 29, 2025 11:21 PM

R307 I learned on my first and only trip to an all-inclusive island resort, if you go outside and it happens to all be literally squalor. You end up walking around feeling guilty and depressed and seriously out of place.

by Anonymousreply 312March 29, 2025 11:54 PM

The poisonous piece of fruit in episode 1 that Patrick Schwarzy was warned about will end up in the blender and somebody will drink it and be dead, most likely not the intended target. Calling Parker Posey to set ready for her dramatic death scene!

by Anonymousreply 313March 30, 2025 1:02 AM

I'm ready for the appearance of Scott Glen, one of my favorite actors who didn't receive enough praise. The Silence of the Lambs, The Right Stuff and Urban Cowboy were some of his best.

by Anonymousreply 314March 30, 2025 1:47 AM

[quote] Coon plays a nouveau riche type of character, so earthy and relatable is perfect for her

Nouveau riche women are not earthy and relatable, they are facile and grasping and obsessed with outward appearances. Think Hyacinth Bucket or Dorit Kemsley from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with more money.

by Anonymousreply 315March 30, 2025 2:29 AM

[quote] It would be more realistic for many of the wealthy characters to carry Kindles

Kindles are cheap and are used by the general public to read self-published action novels and erotica.

The TV Star carrying a book also shows that she doesn’t care about to paying for excess baggage.

by Anonymousreply 316March 30, 2025 2:33 AM

Thailand holds no allure to me although I did appreciate the Thai Sticks that made their way to the US during the 70s.

by Anonymousreply 317March 30, 2025 2:41 AM

I find Walt Goggins hot.

by Anonymousreply 318March 30, 2025 2:50 AM

r315 I disagree, they can be both earthy and grasping, those characteristics aren't mutually exclusive. Anyway, you've said your piece and this is a White Lotus thread btw.

by Anonymousreply 319March 30, 2025 3:37 AM

So if the floating body has a beige collared shirt and dark hair, maybe that means Valentin or Gaitok? Maybe Laurie loses it and shoots Valentin? Or maybe Gaitok tries to save his employer and the guards end up shooting him? There were a lot of shots fired.

by Anonymousreply 320March 30, 2025 4:40 AM

[quote] Nouveau riche women are not earthy and relatable, they are facile and grasping and obsessed with outward appearances. Think Hyacinth Bucket or Dorit Kemsley from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with more money.

Those are simply cartoons.

Real nouveau riche women are actually more interesting than that.

by Anonymousreply 321March 30, 2025 5:06 AM

[quote]Kindles are cheap and are used by the general public to read self-published action novels and erotica.

I literally know some rich people who use Kindles and (especially) iPads so they can carry multiple books with them, and not "self-published action novels and erotica."

it's not just paying extra for heavy or excess baggage that they object to; it's the inconvenience of carrying a huge tome (like Barbra's) with you around the resort. So much easier to slip an iPad into your bag while walking down to the beach, and plus you have hundreds of other books available if you get bored with the one you're reading. And, if you're by the pool, you can usually use it to read the news or surf the Internet.

by Anonymousreply 322March 30, 2025 5:17 AM

Predict the next episode. A logline.

by Anonymousreply 323March 30, 2025 5:26 AM

I hate to derail with a contrary view on the whole book thing, but have we forgotten the resorts whole goal of unplugging or are kindles not at all devices? And who the fuck still uses a kindle?

by Anonymousreply 324March 30, 2025 5:42 AM

[quote]And who the fuck still uses a kindle?

People below the Ratliffs.

by Anonymousreply 325March 30, 2025 6:27 AM

[quote] And who the fuck still uses a kindle?

I do, I like it. Much nicer than trying to read on a tablet or phone. But then of course, who the fuck am I?

I am reconsidering with Amazon's recent policy change that bans the download of their ebooks except through their devices and apps.

by Anonymousreply 326March 30, 2025 7:49 AM

Love my Kindle. Plus, it’s exactly the type of device the resort wouldn’t try to ban. Unlike a tablet, its sole purpose is reading a book. Seems perfectly consistent with the resort’s objectives.

by Anonymousreply 327March 30, 2025 9:30 AM

I predict the body in the water will be Gaitok.

But, we don’t know for sure he’s dead.

Maybe the real dead bodies will be found elsewhere?

by Anonymousreply 328March 30, 2025 9:33 AM

Has anyone bothered to count the number of shots? Done ballistic audio analysis to determine if they are from the same weapon, and whether they all come from roughly the same location? It seems like there should be some obsessive White Lotus stans who were on it since episode 1. Of course if they are being simulated for effect, they aren't likely to provide any conclusive info.

by Anonymousreply 329March 30, 2025 9:48 AM

R324 I the fuck do.

by Anonymousreply 330March 30, 2025 11:11 AM

The Kindle girlies on this thread are annoying with their constant piling in (“I have one! I use one!”). No one cares that you’re cheap and practical.

Jaclyn carries a big fat book because she can.

by Anonymousreply 331March 30, 2025 11:42 AM

R311 one thing I’ve learned is there are many readers who hate reading on a device. My sister has the kindle scribble and never uses it. She still buys regular books.

Unlike music and movies/tv, books via devices hasn’t taken over. Only around 25% of books are read via E-reader or tablet/phone. The majority still buy physical books. Barnes and Nobel are OPENING more stores because book sales are so high again.

by Anonymousreply 332March 30, 2025 11:47 AM

R316 depends on which kindle you get. Some are $400-$500.

by Anonymousreply 333March 30, 2025 11:49 AM

I paid over $300 for my Kindle color. Please fuck off with the cheap shit.

by Anonymousreply 334March 30, 2025 11:51 AM

There are only two episodes left. One after tonight.

How ho hum

by Anonymousreply 335March 30, 2025 11:56 AM

Physical Books are selling like hotcakes again.

I have two Kindles, but have always wanted a Nook because I’m a B&N fan since I was a kid. I know they are the enemy who closed down many independent book stores but I always liked them.

I’m rooting for them now more than ever because they are the ONLY corporation keeping Amazon from taking over the book selling business by 100%.

Anyone noticed that Gaitok and his supervisor just went to the shooting range when Gaitok returned with a gun, leaving the booth unsupervised?

by Anonymousreply 337March 30, 2025 12:14 PM

I have been watching an outrageous amount of IG posts with Victoria Rattclif's clip "I just don't think at this age I'm meant to live an uncomfortable life. I don't have the will..." I think it would make sense that once she discovers the mess her family will face upon return, she could off herself. She will know what's in store for her, with her friends, her circle....she will be an outcast and I think she will not be able to take it.

by Anonymousreply 338March 30, 2025 12:18 PM

Can we please get back to the incest bros

by Anonymousreply 339March 30, 2025 12:57 PM

So much is riding on tonight's episode!

by Anonymousreply 340March 30, 2025 1:07 PM

Remember that one of the blondes has a tenuous connection to Parker Posey, mentioned at breakfast in an early episode. That has to be revisited.

by Anonymousreply 341March 30, 2025 1:32 PM

They have too many things to tie up in two episodes.

They’ve spent too much time circling the ice and now they have to cram in 5 triple jumps in a row.

Won’t happen.

by Anonymousreply 342March 30, 2025 1:38 PM

We have too many possible ways of characters dying. The gun, the poisonous fruit, getting swallowed by a wave... I still think Timothy will walk into the ocean

by Anonymousreply 348March 30, 2025 2:23 PM

candle stick and the parlor

by Anonymousreply 349March 30, 2025 2:24 PM

Will it be a satisfying episode or disappointment?

Will it weave together with payoff of the foreshadowing, or will it be some ending out of nowhere that seems a stretch, and brush over all the other questions?

by Anonymousreply 350March 30, 2025 2:25 PM

One thing I’ve learned watching White Lotus - every online theory about the endings has been wrong.

by Anonymousreply 351March 30, 2025 2:26 PM

A lot of red herrings and Chekov’s guns.

by Anonymousreply 352March 30, 2025 2:28 PM

I think Tim will kill himself.

His attorneys have been frantically trying to get in touch with him to let him know they managed to work out a deal and he’s off the hook.

Of course by the time they reach the family, it’s too late for ole Duke Dad.

Saxon will interpret this as the universe telling him to NEVER give up his phone.

by Anonymousreply 353March 30, 2025 2:30 PM

Hope it's not a monkey shooting the gun. That would be way too unrealistic

by Anonymousreply 354March 30, 2025 2:30 PM

The Russian robbers have to come back into play. Gaitok tries to shoot them, but gets shot himself.

But the dramatic stakes couldn’t be lower in that scenario. Gaitok is a fuckup. He’s GOING to shoot someone eventually. It’s inevitable.

by Anonymousreply 355March 30, 2025 2:35 PM

Maybe after the meeting with the owner Walter Goggins and Sam Rockwell are fleeing the mansion. Walter heads back to the hotel to get his girlfriend and the bodyguard goons follow. They get into a fight with Gaitok who's trying to prove himself. Sad things happen.

Duke dad realizes he doesn't really want to die. Duke daughter doesn't want to stay. 3 blonde bitches vow to be better friends. Incest brothers forgive and forget. Belinda and Pornchai become a couple. Parker Posey yaps away about lorazepam as usual.

by Anonymousreply 356March 30, 2025 2:40 PM

Greg Gary slips on a piece of Thai fruit and dies in his kitchen. His Quebec gf finds him, takes the money and runs. Karma

by Anonymousreply 357March 30, 2025 2:41 PM

Is the main security guy behind it too? The way he was talking to Gaitok about does he have the guts to use the gun when the shit gets down...like shit will get down soon

by Anonymousreply 358March 30, 2025 2:41 PM

How would they escape the mansion? It is surrounded by security guards. And they came by a boat. Not to mention, it is in Bangkok, miles away from White Lotus.

by Anonymousreply 359March 30, 2025 2:43 PM

everyone dies of poisoned pad thai

by Anonymousreply 360March 30, 2025 2:56 PM

What if the three blondes make up and continue being friends, even though they don't like each other that much, like the two girls did in the first season? Mike already borrowed the "one woman sleeps with a man the other one wanted and lies about it" from those two in the first season. Might as well use the same ending for them.

by Anonymousreply 361March 30, 2025 2:57 PM

Good god, the inane bullshit that people will bring up just to keep this thread going. It's perfectly fine to just let it go quiet for half a week, you don't need to artificially create arguments about Kindles or whatever the fuck.

by Anonymousreply 362March 30, 2025 3:14 PM

My fucking name is Walton! Not Walter and not even Walt!!

by Anonymousreply 363March 30, 2025 3:42 PM

by Anonymousreply 365March 30, 2025 4:23 PM

After the way Season 1 ended,I am not getting my hopes up that there will be some dramatic shocking murder or suicide.

by Anonymousreply 366March 30, 2025 5:15 PM

Is this the most overanalyzed show ever on DL? We're more than halfway through thread 7 and episode 7 hasn't even aired yet. Almost 4200 replies on an incredibly mediocre season.

by Anonymousreply 367March 30, 2025 5:19 PM

I'm ordering some pad siew as I type this

by Anonymousreply 368March 30, 2025 5:21 PM

Does anyone have a theory why the Texas blonde recognized Parker Posey and she played it off like she really didn't remember an entire weekend. 10 years is not that long ago to forget an entire weekend with a small group. This is a clue, but I don't have any idea. I am Rose Nyland on this one or Matt Bomer in Mid Century.

by Anonymousreply 369March 30, 2025 5:23 PM

I don't think there's a theory as such. It was just a way to show Victoria as a very insular and cold person to everyone outside of her family. I wouldn't expect there to be any pay-off in the finale or tonight.

by Anonymousreply 370March 30, 2025 5:26 PM

she's high

by Anonymousreply 371March 30, 2025 5:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 372March 30, 2025 5:42 PM

R369 I once introduced myself to a guy and he was very annoyed. He told me that we had both been at a small wedding less than ten years ago and also shared a suite at a baseball game with about ten people. I didn’t remember him lol.

by Anonymousreply 379March 30, 2025 6:03 PM

I'm not talking about gay sex scenarios, r377. I'm talking about situations where people have met each other before socially.

Miss Manners actually used to give people permission to blow people off in such situations if they had reason enough to dislike them, and said if all else failed you could even just walk away from them and say, "Sir, I do not know you!" (which is pretty hilarious when you think about it).

by Anonymousreply 424March 31, 2025 1:59 AM

Jesus, Carrie Coon has a great rack!

by Anonymousreply 425March 31, 2025 2:00 AM

R425 why do you reply so much? Every thread is 95% you

by Anonymousreply 426March 31, 2025 2:04 AM

Would Laurie have recognized the jewelry?

by Anonymousreply 427March 31, 2025 2:09 AM

Parker Posey's character doesn't have much of an accent to me. She sounds more strung out than southern.

by Anonymousreply 428March 31, 2025 2:12 AM

I know it sets up the rest of the episode for the two characters but Chelsea would NEVER have bothered to take the time to explain to Saxon why she had feelings for Rick.

And that photoshop shit in Big Jim’s den was horrible. The worst since that photo of Anne Bancroft with a younger James Mitchell in The Turning Point. Which was made in 1976/1977.

by Anonymousreply 429March 31, 2025 2:12 AM

Victoria’s heart is in the right place.

by Anonymousreply 430March 31, 2025 2:12 AM

So Scott Glen turned out to be a literal pushover.

by Anonymousreply 431March 31, 2025 2:14 AM

It’s sad to see an over-40 actress lacking self-respect and exposing her titties on camera to get approval.

by Anonymousreply 432March 31, 2025 2:14 AM

R429 yeah. She would have.

by Anonymousreply 433March 31, 2025 2:15 AM

Campbell Scott did too

by Anonymousreply 434March 31, 2025 2:15 AM

The body in the water is Rick.

by Anonymousreply 435March 31, 2025 2:16 AM

The girl sitting nrxt to Piper at dinner sort of looked like Portia from Season 2.

I thought Frank was going to get drunk and rape Sritala while Rick was pistol whipping Big Jim. Frank did mention getting ut on with okder Thai wimen and he did seem to get turned in by her video. Oh well. How stupid of Rick and Gary to go to high profile dens of iniquity in Bangkok? So stupid of them.

by Anonymousreply 436March 31, 2025 2:17 AM

Greg scares the shit out of me.

by Anonymousreply 437March 31, 2025 2:18 AM

I wouldn’t mind this slow burn if there were more episodes.

by Anonymousreply 438March 31, 2025 2:18 AM

It was nice to see the cat fight but it would have been better if it had been physical.

by Anonymousreply 439March 31, 2025 2:21 AM

Kudos to those who predicted Timothy would murder his family and use the poison fruit in the blender, if that’s what it turns out to be.

by Anonymousreply 440March 31, 2025 2:22 AM

Was the video of the older blonde Asian woman real or AI? If it was real, she was beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 441March 31, 2025 2:23 AM

^When she was young.

by Anonymousreply 442March 31, 2025 2:24 AM

Now I am worried the Russians will kill Laurie because they think she knows too much

by Anonymousreply 443March 31, 2025 2:24 AM

I wonder if Valentin hit up Jacklyn for money too? Maybe he just knows his marks and realized that Laurie was the vulnerable one.

by Anonymousreply 444March 31, 2025 2:25 AM

If I was rich I’d give up $10,000 for those hot cocks.

by Anonymousreply 445March 31, 2025 2:28 AM

R439 you’re a retard

by Anonymousreply 446March 31, 2025 2:31 AM

So Jaclyn was coming on to Kate's husband at Laurie's wedding? I wanted to hear more about that.

by Anonymousreply 447March 31, 2025 2:32 AM

Dad is fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 448March 31, 2025 2:38 AM

Mike White Lotus

by Anonymousreply 449March 31, 2025 2:39 AM

I see the fucked up parents dynamic in my own parents relationship.

by Anonymousreply 450March 31, 2025 2:39 AM

I kinda wonder how the mother didn't seem to have any kind of withdrawal from the Lorazepam. Her sleeping so easy seems like a mistake to me.

by Anonymousreply 451March 31, 2025 2:40 AM

She drinks

by Anonymousreply 452March 31, 2025 2:41 AM

Not everyone reacts to medications the same way.

by Anonymousreply 453March 31, 2025 2:42 AM

On SNL last night, Chloe Fineman did a pitch perfect impression of Parker Posey's character.

by Anonymousreply 454March 31, 2025 2:46 AM

Oh no is it Belinda in the water? Oh no...

by Anonymousreply 455March 31, 2025 2:48 AM

Gaitok tells his boss about the Russians doing the robbery, the boss blows him off and Gaitok ends up getting shot?

by Anonymousreply 456March 31, 2025 2:50 AM

R455 : We can only hope . . .

by Anonymousreply 457March 31, 2025 2:51 AM

Richard Chamberlain died and missed the last two episodes, what a way to go.

by Anonymousreply 458March 31, 2025 3:03 AM

Oh god I'm tired of Belinda being so goody goody.

100 grand seemed quite a low offer though. Inviting someone to your lavish mansion and then offering them only six figures doesn't seem wise.

by Anonymousreply 459March 31, 2025 3:10 AM

The body in the water was a person with short, dark hair and wearing a white or light colored collared shirt.

So… Timothy, Rick, Saxon, Gaitok, the other guard (but we don’t know him so we don’t care), maaaybe Fabian (unlikely, his shirts are different), Valentin, are all possibilities.

Likely Scenario: Gaitok confronts Valentin and friends about the robbery, Gaitok tries to ‘be a man’ like Mook suggested, there’s a shootout, some of them are killed. Gaitok in dead water.

Possibility: Big Jim’s bodyguards shoot and kill Rick. But, there was a lot of gunfire, more likely it was someone returning fire (like Gaitok in the above scenario).

Left field- Timothy drank the poison smoothie to kill himself and fell in the water, wasn’t shot.

by Anonymousreply 460March 31, 2025 3:11 AM

Kind of a dull episode.

by Anonymousreply 461March 31, 2025 3:12 AM

Mook is kind of a bitch, no?

by Anonymousreply 462March 31, 2025 3:13 AM

Saxon is rather empty, I understand Chelsea's scorn.

by Anonymousreply 463March 31, 2025 3:14 AM

Fuck Mook. Gaitok is hot. She doesn’t deserve him.

by Anonymousreply 464March 31, 2025 3:15 AM

[quote]Chelsea would NEVER have bothered to take the time to explain to Saxon why she had feelings for Rick

The cynical side of me wants to say people like that love telling people how much of a saviour they are, so I could buy it.

The part I have trouble with is her letting Saxon into her hotel room.

by Anonymousreply 465March 31, 2025 3:17 AM

[quote]The body in the water was a person with short, dark hair and wearing a white or light colored collared shirt.

It was the jacket that Rick was wearing in tonight's episode. Also, it's Rick's hair.

by Anonymousreply 466March 31, 2025 3:18 AM

[quote]The cynical side of me wants to say people like that love telling people how much of a saviour they are, so I could buy it.

Mike White always lulls you into liking somebody and then loves to undercut it, showing their weaknesses and dumb human behavior - so yeah I love Chelsea, she is sweet and funny, but the girl has bad bad instincts about Rick and I'm afraid it's going to come to haunt her. That whole "I'm going to rescue this poor broken man" thing is never good

by Anonymousreply 467March 31, 2025 3:23 AM

I’ve figured out the theme of the season: Nothing happening.

There’s some kind of big set-up; everyone has theories for what big, dramatic moment is going to happen, perhaps we even get the dream/fantasy fake-out, but in the end nothing much happens. The end.

by Anonymousreply 468March 31, 2025 3:36 AM

Yeah—Rick makes sense. You don’t threaten a killer who has body guards (who should be fired for incompetence) and just walk away.

by Anonymousreply 469March 31, 2025 3:38 AM

Episodes 5 and 6 were picking up some nice momentum but Episode 7 seems to have hit a lull. This was my least favorite episode thus far mainly because I was expecting so much more.

by Anonymousreply 470March 31, 2025 3:38 AM

Poor Frank fell off the wagon for this bullshit!

by Anonymousreply 471March 31, 2025 3:44 AM

Laurie is kind of a mess.

But Jaclyn is a bigger mess, and Kate is an annoying shit-stirrer.

by Anonymousreply 472March 31, 2025 3:46 AM

Was there a moment when Laurie saw the stolen jewelry in the Russian's bedroom that would implicate her in his guilt? Did I miss that?

My gosh, 7 episodes to tell stories that could have been completed with more tension in 4.

by Anonymousreply 473March 31, 2025 3:48 AM

Laurie has great tits for mid-40s.

by Anonymousreply 474March 31, 2025 3:49 AM

You'd think Mike White would have left Laurie walking down that lonely dangerous at the end of the episode to create a little much needed tension ....but no, a taxi cab pulls up to save her life.

by Anonymousreply 475March 31, 2025 3:50 AM

I thought Patrick acquitted himself beautifully in this episode. I really felt for his character, and I can't say that about ANY of the others, who have all become very tiresome.

by Anonymousreply 476March 31, 2025 3:52 AM

[quote]Oh god I'm tired of Belinda being so goody goody.

What do you want her to do when being blackmailed by a billionaire murderer, start humping the chair in delight?

by Anonymousreply 477March 31, 2025 3:58 AM

Patrick didn’t do much except say, “what? No’ multiple times this episode.

His little chat with his dad was fine, but nothing special.

by Anonymousreply 478March 31, 2025 4:00 AM

I wan to see Frank be an Asian woman for Rick.

by Anonymousreply 479March 31, 2025 4:01 AM

Poor Lochy. He’ll feel rejected by Piper.

by Anonymousreply 480March 31, 2025 4:02 AM

I loved all of Patrick's reactions to Chelsea and Chloe throughout the night, as well as to Tim, even if he didn't say much.

by Anonymousreply 481March 31, 2025 4:02 AM

[quote]That whole "I'm going to rescue this poor broken man" thing is never good

She's this season's Albie who seemed to be attracted to pretty "wounded birds."

[quote]The part I have trouble with is her letting Saxon into her hotel room.

She's into poor broken men who are suffering that she can heal -- and Saxon fits the bill and it's only going to get worse.

After this episode, Rick no longer does and she'll find that out soon enough.

She let him in because she was into the idea of him asking for help and her saving him. Then he pushed too hard and she kicked him out. However, I do think she felt something.

by Anonymousreply 482March 31, 2025 4:05 AM

Lochy didn’t like the food. Why would he want to stay for a year?

by Anonymousreply 483March 31, 2025 4:05 AM

I didn't understand why there was so much air time for the eating scene at the mediation place, especially on Lochlan and his ill-mannered eating. Then I see that his sister was thinking how awful it would be to see him eat like that every night if he were to stay there with her.

by Anonymousreply 484March 31, 2025 4:06 AM

[quote]Lochy didn’t like the food. Why would he want to stay for a year?

Sam explained that Lochlan is very insecure and first tried to get in good with his brother and now that he thinks he as hurt his chances with that, he wants to attach himself to his sister. He doesn't really care about the place.

by Anonymousreply 485March 31, 2025 4:12 AM

[quote]It was the jacket that Rick was wearing in tonight's episode. Also, it's Rick's hair.

Gaiton probably kills shoots because he pushed the managers husband and gets a promotion as her personal security.

by Anonymousreply 486March 31, 2025 4:13 AM

There's a direct correlation between ill mannered eating and lackluster hole maintenance, he needs a monk daddy to show him the ropes.

by Anonymousreply 487March 31, 2025 4:13 AM

[quote]Lochy didn’t like the food. Why would he want to stay for a year?

Lochy’s brother tried to introduce him to the manosphere, Lochy’s interpretation is to give his bro a handie.

He’s not the brightest and is fleeing from consequences.

by Anonymousreply 488March 31, 2025 4:16 AM

Scott Glenn is 86???????

by Anonymousreply 489March 31, 2025 4:17 AM

Frank's gonna keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club!

by Anonymousreply 490March 31, 2025 4:21 AM

I also was hoping more for this episode. For example, we still haven't had a scene where Saxson and Lochlan talk to each other after the night on the yacht.

Rick is setting himself up to be killed by the Thai lady's bodyguards.

The father's murder fantasies make me think that he won't succeed at anything.

The Belinda storyline is a bit of a snooze. Nothing happened at Greg/Gary's party.

Laurie is a sad Karen.

Not sure if I care how it ends!

by Anonymousreply 491March 31, 2025 4:26 AM

Aleksei is one hot piece so good for Laurie.

by Anonymousreply 492March 31, 2025 4:27 AM

[quote]Remember that one of the blondes has a tenuous connection to Parker Posey, mentioned at breakfast in an early episode. That has to be revisited.

Presumably once Jason Isaac’s is dead/handed over to the authorities, Parker will Southern Belle herself onto needy Leslie Bibb to take advantage of the kindness of a not-quite-stranger.

by Anonymousreply 493March 31, 2025 4:33 AM

At this point I’m thinking all of the Ratliffs go home alive. Neither Lachlan nor Piper will stay at the temple. Saxon, Timothy, and the mom won’t die.

by Anonymousreply 494March 31, 2025 4:35 AM

Patrick's acting is fine but the role of vapid nepo baby really isn't much of a stretch for him.

by Anonymousreply 495March 31, 2025 4:35 AM

[quote]Jesus, Carrie Coon has a great rack!

She even showed off a whisper of gash when pulling her pants on. As I say, if you got it, flaunt it.

by Anonymousreply 496March 31, 2025 4:36 AM

This penultimate episode was a total bore. There are too many characters and Mike White has no idea what to do with any of them. Victoria and Lochy were wasted in this episode.

by Anonymousreply 497March 31, 2025 4:36 AM

Ha I called it about Lochlan. But it seems too much like Quinn from S1. Piper definitely doesn’t want to stay now.

by Anonymousreply 498March 31, 2025 4:37 AM

Rick probably will die. His satisfied smile at the end of this episode, his joyous reunion with Chelsea and the “I’m fine” from next week’s trailer makes me think he won’t be fine.

He got his closure…and now he dies.

by Anonymousreply 499March 31, 2025 4:37 AM

I'm constantly amazed at people who think this is slow. It's not. Go watch fast and furious, "i don't care what happens at the end" THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU POSTING. GO AWAY. No one cares that you think you are so smart that you have to bash the show. You actually look DUMB and not SMART. I imagine the complainers are big queens who are upset their is not more cock. I have this gay dude in my buidling who literally won't watch a movie unless there is sex in it.

by Anonymousreply 500March 31, 2025 4:39 AM

I have a COLOR KINDLE and they are NOT CHEAP nor for poor people so fuck you implying as much. Lots of upper class and RICH PEOPLE take them on holidays, I hear they are very popular with the East Coast preppy set and the British aristocracy; Carole Middleton was seen with hers at WIMBLEDON and MUSTIQUE.

by Anonymousreply 501March 31, 2025 4:40 AM

I can’t believe any of those people actually went to Greg/Gary’s party.

by Anonymousreply 502March 31, 2025 4:49 AM

That party, much like this season, was much ado about nothing. Mike White needs a writers room.

by Anonymousreply 503March 31, 2025 4:56 AM

What happens when the news gets wind that every year people end up dead at various White Lotus resorts?

The curse of the Kennedys.

by Anonymousreply 504March 31, 2025 5:08 AM

Lots of bald-faced lies fast-firing in this episode, except for our three monkeys finally airing out their grievances. The only seemingly honest one was surprisingly independent Trumper Kate, of all the characters; is she two-faced or straddling a fine-line between asshole friends fighting?

Aside from the obvious ruse that totally fell apart (to upcoming ruin?), Chelsea did not know all about Rick's dark-side in her coyness with Saxon (who lied to get closer); she had to coax the reason why they were in Thailand out of Rick earlier in the season. I really doubt Greg told Chloe all of his fantasies, and instead she is terrified for her life making a concoction to take the heat off of herself. Or maybe Greg really is a freak, who knows? Again, I don't get the comments that the episode was slow. You got so much answered with more questions to ask.

As per the Kindle argument, lots of book reading in this episode, too. Apparently Chloe travels with a suitcase full of them, and Lochlan starts his conversion on page 1.

by Anonymousreply 505March 31, 2025 5:24 AM

“Her sleeping so easy”

Sweetie, she has to get drunk to go to sleep now.

by Anonymousreply 506March 31, 2025 6:34 AM

Mike White made it clear the theme is spirituality and personal convictions

by Anonymousreply 507March 31, 2025 6:35 AM

R478 it’s about tone. It’s about expressions. He did a great job. You seem to think an actor needs to be melodramatic and scream and cry and throw things to be good.

Patrick played it TRUE and well.

Go watch a CW show. That’s more in line with what you like.

by Anonymousreply 508March 31, 2025 6:36 AM

R484 you never understand anything. Not everything is to be “understood”. The scene was barely 2 minutes long btw.

This is a show for grown ups. It’s out of your element

by Anonymousreply 509March 31, 2025 6:39 AM

R483 you couldn’t understand why based on the dialogue??!

It was clearly because he wants to be with his sister. He’s attaching himself to her. He says “I thought you’d be happy”. It has nothing to do with the place and all to do with her. He also wants to keep away from home because he feels he ruined his relationship with his brother (which he did).

by Anonymousreply 510March 31, 2025 6:41 AM

R500 the irony is the complainers don’t realize they’re exposing the fact the show is too smart for them. Shit is constantly having to be explained to them.

I saw someone on tiktok speak about people complaining about this show being too “slow” etc. and how it isn’t slow at all and they’re just not used to show made for ADULTS anymore. This isn’t a show catering to youth and they don’t get it. This is a smart and mature series that doesn’t tell you what it’s saying straight out, you have to be able to read between the lines and view the subtext etc.

That poster did the same thing last season btw. Every week crying and bitching and needing everything explained to them while also claiming they were so above the show. A joke of a human.

by Anonymousreply 511March 31, 2025 6:46 AM

R501 well, the Kindle Colorsoft is $279.99. Yeah, not cheap. The Kindle Scribe is $449.99. So yeah, not cheap.

It’s not about insecurities, it’s about correcting your bullshit and uneducated claims that they’re cheap. The cheapest one is $109.99.

by Anonymousreply 512March 31, 2025 6:49 AM

R505 it wasn’t slow at all. It’s one of the few shows these days I can sit and watch without ever checking my phone. I am glued.

The person complaining doesn’t have any business watching this.

by Anonymousreply 513March 31, 2025 6:53 AM

R508 nope, I do not think an actor needs to be melodramatic and scream and cry and throw things to be good. Not at all. Plenty of great actors get the point across with just looks or tone.

Patrick was fine. Not great or bad. But, he didn’t do anything special. We got that he was weirded out by Chloe’s request by the scrunching of his face and confused and slightly disturbed looks, but it was all pretty basic.

His reactions to the sexual encounter with his brother last week was the best acting he’s done on the show.

Are you his acting coach? Or his mom?

by Anonymousreply 514March 31, 2025 8:07 AM

Patrick did just that in tonight’s episode. He got the point across with his expressions and reactions. So yes, he did a good job.

by Anonymousreply 515March 31, 2025 8:34 AM

[quote] I thought Frank was going to get drunk and rape Sritala while Rick was pistol whipping Big Jim.

I actually thought the opposite.

I thought Sritala was going to fuck Frank with her Thai cock.

There seemed to be a flirtation between them, and I thought it was heading in that direction.

Must be method acting.

Where was Pornchai?

by Anonymousreply 520March 31, 2025 10:57 AM

Saxon should’ve fucked Chloe. He wanted to.

by Anonymousreply 521March 31, 2025 11:04 AM

She didn’t want to fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 522March 31, 2025 11:10 AM

I'll fuck him!

by Anonymousreply 523March 31, 2025 11:21 AM

Saxon snapped out of his “disgust with himself” mood quickly.

I don’t think Laurie nor her friends knew there was a robbery at the resort, that was super reckless of her to go out with the Russians, she needed the same calidation from men she accused her friend of needing I suppose.

How The fuck is Rick getting out of this one? They know he’s a guest of Whot Lotus.

Belinda just take the cash miss!

by Anonymousreply 524March 31, 2025 11:25 AM

Here's the problem- the creative spark hits, and Mike White writes season 1. He's lucky enough to still have it for season 2.

For season 3, there was clearly no spark. He wrote it because he was contracted to write it for money. And usually when you just do something for money without that initial spark, it's not good.

So yes, a writers room with Mike as head writer would be a good idea. This season, while I enjoy it, has been sloppy.

by Anonymousreply 525March 31, 2025 11:52 AM

Patrick acts like Stiffer off American Pie.

by Anonymousreply 526March 31, 2025 11:54 AM

Sritala is and was always fugly—even when she was young and skinny.

by Anonymousreply 527March 31, 2025 11:57 AM

by Anonymousreply 529March 31, 2025 12:01 PM

I think this is what happens when something is beloved, a huge hit, and yet….is bad.

Everyone knows it’s bad.

But because people have affection for everyone involved and the memory of better times, the fans defend it to the core.

It also has the best ratings of any season.

Too many storylines with no follow through.

Too many ideas that went no where.

by Anonymousreply 530March 31, 2025 12:04 PM

I don't think it's bad. But sloppy. I still enjoy it.

by Anonymousreply 531March 31, 2025 12:11 PM

The White Lotus needs its own Bunny Schneiderman character next season. Bunny and 2 bitchy friends can be like the 3 Karens.

by Anonymousreply 541March 31, 2025 1:09 PM

Patrick is sexy, but not all that cute.

Lochlan looked fug in this episode, except when shirtless.

I'm loving the 3 friends catty-ness. Friends don't always get along, and have resentments. Jaclyn was in her right to fuck Valentin. Who wouldn't? They're on vacation. Laurie was smart to get with hot Alexei! She didn't know he's sketchy. She should've had a 3 way with Valentin.

I want Gaitok to fuck me.

Fuck-Valentin

Marry- Gaitok

Kill- Saxon

Jaclyn was in the wrong. 100%. Not only did she fuck the guy she kept pushing her best friend on, she cheated on the guy she allegedly loves. She’s a piece of shit.

Laurie has every right to be mad. She’s not mad at the guys. She’s mad that Laurie always does stupid shit like that and I would be mad too

by Anonymousreply 546March 31, 2025 1:21 PM

Piper isn’t going to stay, she got spooked as soon as her mom allowed her to spend one night and then make a decision. There are so many scenarios going on as to who gets killed in the finale, the Russians, the hotels security and bodyguards, Tim and Greg Gary. Good chance it will be more than one body.

by Anonymousreply 547March 31, 2025 1:23 PM

People are shitting on Mook for telling Gaitok what type of a man she likes, as if it's not Gaitok who's pursued her relentlessly. She's not obligated to change what she's attracted to just because this one guy happened to be persistent enough to finally score a date. Having said that, can I have him?

Loved the costuming for the dinner – Jaclyn in bright blue, Kate in blue and red, and Laurie in dark red.

Missed opportunity to show Aleksei's toosh, but I understand the reasoning behind it – Laurie running away with her bare butt like some common floozy landed that much harder. Plus, he had to wear a hard-on prosthetic, so his Russian girlfriend could slap it. I'll allow it, but only this one time!

by Anonymousreply 548March 31, 2025 1:25 PM

This is probably my fave bts photo so far. Not a six-pack in sight, just four guys hanging out, looking faggy – Patrick the most and Nivola the least. Shocking, I know.

Could Scott Glen be Rick’s dad?

by Anonymousreply 550March 31, 2025 1:42 PM

Comparing the 4 chins in that photo at r549, Patrick's comes across just fine.

by Anonymousreply 551March 31, 2025 1:43 PM

Poor Jason Isaacs has been given the exactly the same beat to play in every episode from the very first.

by Anonymousreply 552March 31, 2025 1:44 PM

Yes. A one-dimensional character.

by Anonymousreply 553March 31, 2025 1:50 PM

Was Scott Glen playing the Crypt Keeper?

by Anonymousreply 554March 31, 2025 1:51 PM

Stuff happened this episode but I don't really feel much closer to the finale!

by Anonymousreply 555March 31, 2025 1:56 PM

Tim is falling apart, popping pills like candy and thinking the answer to everything is killing his wife, now his son and himself. Jason Isaacs is doing a great job.

by Anonymousreply 556March 31, 2025 2:04 PM

[quote] Jaclyn was in her right to fuck Valentin.

There’s a right to betray a friend?

by Anonymousreply 557March 31, 2025 2:04 PM

Why does he take pills without water even when he’s in the bathroom?

Why carry them into bed?

by Anonymousreply 558March 31, 2025 2:08 PM

Swallowing pills without liquid shows how manly he is.

by Anonymousreply 559March 31, 2025 2:15 PM

Rick’s “my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!” subplot, now that is has fully launched, is sort of cringe, no?

Of the three female friend archetypes : Laurie as “the smart one” is realizing she makes dumb emotionally-fueled choices; Katie as “the nice one” is being exposed as treacherous; which leaves, Jacklyn “the hot one”, who is clearly fine with being the bad guy of the group (so long as it means she’s still the main character), and whose final act reckoning will likely be about having lost her “hot one” currency.

by Anonymousreply 560March 31, 2025 2:26 PM

Finale is 90 minutes long, which explains why a lot of this episode felt like it was teeing things up.

by Anonymousreply 561March 31, 2025 2:26 PM

She’s not that hot.

by Anonymousreply 562March 31, 2025 2:27 PM

[quote]we still haven't had a scene where Saxson and Lochlan talk to each other after the night on the yacht

Yes we have -- they both played the "I don't remember anything" card and I can't imagine they'll go further than that. That would be totally in keeping with those guys

by Anonymousreply 563March 31, 2025 2:29 PM

TG there were no snakes in this episode. Monkeys, lizards and snakes are not my idea of a fun vacation.

by Anonymousreply 564March 31, 2025 2:34 PM

Sam Rockwell is bringing alot to the final episodes. I think he's one of those actors that's incapable of giving a bad performance. Patrick was very good last night. I actually felt bad for him during the talk with his father. And Parker Posey is a hoot.

by Anonymousreply 565March 31, 2025 2:34 PM

Why doesn't Belinda simply go to the Thai police? She could even bring her hot son with her as moral support?

Or just accept $100,000 and STFU?

by Anonymousreply 566March 31, 2025 2:35 PM

Gary's party was a snoooooooze.

by Anonymousreply 567March 31, 2025 2:35 PM

I kind of think Trumper Kate will be the one of the three to really lose it—she’s been trapped between those two for decades. She’s not blameless, of course, gossiping about each of them to the other one, but she is convinced she has this perfect, normal life (true or not) and Jaclyn and Laurie just go around doing whatever they want (in her mind). It wouldn’t be surprising if she and her “cunty bob” snap.

by Anonymousreply 568March 31, 2025 2:37 PM

[quote] a lot of this episode felt like it was teeing things up.

I love the show but I don't feel super teed up. Belinda is teed up with a big decision. Gaitok figured out something very important. I don't know about the rest... The three girlfriends haven't done anything they couldn't fix together. Walton Goggins concluded his goal. The Ratliffs did fuck all though Piper might want to tell Lochlan to go home. Calm before storm. I feel like this is like the ocean receding before a tsunami.

by Anonymousreply 569March 31, 2025 2:43 PM

Goggins is going to be killed by Scott Glenn’s heavies.

by Anonymousreply 570March 31, 2025 2:47 PM

Nothing says “soap opera” like gathering all the characters at a party

I’m surprised Emily Kimberly wasn’t there.

by Anonymousreply 571March 31, 2025 2:48 PM

Isn’t the reveal going to be that Scott Glenn is his daddy?

by Anonymousreply 572March 31, 2025 2:49 PM

Gaitok is going to be the big hero and get a promotion.

by Anonymousreply 573March 31, 2025 2:51 PM

Scott Glenn certainly is a type. A type he has never wavered from.

by Anonymousreply 574March 31, 2025 2:52 PM

I really liked Jaclyn smiling or smirking at Laurie this episode. So good. Jaclyn knows she's a bitch or she impressed or relieved Laurie's getting it out. She looks satisfied with the drama. I'm sure someone else has a different read.

by Anonymousreply 575March 31, 2025 2:54 PM

She’s a famous actress, of course she’s a bitch

by Anonymousreply 576March 31, 2025 2:56 PM

I don’t get why Greg and some of the other rich white expat men don’t know about Tim’s problems? Retired or not, men like that always read the WSJ. I mean, surely even Jaclyn would’ve seen a headline about it.

by Anonymousreply 577March 31, 2025 3:02 PM

After teasing Fabian's singing all season long, it basically transpired off screen. And that, my friends, constitutes poor writing.

by Anonymousreply 578March 31, 2025 3:08 PM

I heard an interview recently with Mike White. He mentioned several times how obsessed he was with Sweeney Todd. In the show, Sweeney slits the throat of the beggar woman who he then recognizes as his long lost wife. I’m wondering if Mike is setting up a similar situation here. Rick kills Scott Glen only to find out as he’s dying that. Glenn is his father.

by Anonymousreply 579March 31, 2025 3:10 PM

The fact that Greg/Gary has thrown two big parties in three days seems a bit ridiculous, since he just sits sullenly by himself at these extravagant gatherings looking like he can't wait until it's over, hates everyone, and wants to go to bed. Maybe he's doing it to satisfy Chloe, but he isn't exactly a people-pleaser so not sure that fits either.

And yes ^ what was the deal with cutting away from Fabian and forgetting all about his big debut? I wondered if that was the joke, that he's been hyping it for days and no one paid attention past the first few notes?

by Anonymousreply 580March 31, 2025 3:11 PM

People! Watch the opening credits and the illustrations as each name comes up. All you need to know is there if you pay attention.

by Anonymousreply 581March 31, 2025 3:28 PM

They've been hyping up Fabian's solo act since the begging of the show only for us to hear a word or two and then switch to three blondes arguing? I was looking forward to his singing all week long

by Anonymousreply 582March 31, 2025 3:34 PM

[quote] I wondered if that was the joke, that he's been hyping it for days and no one paid attention past the first few notes?

Yes that was the joke, and I cackled at it - when Carrie Coon IMMEDIATELY starts talking after two seconds of it - it was just another little jab at the priviledged little bubbles these assholes exist in. I thought it was hysterical in its meanness

by Anonymousreply 583March 31, 2025 3:38 PM

[quote] teasing Fabian's singing

But no one cares. It's important to him but not to the other characters. He wasn't about to backflip off a piano. I thought that was the point. The 3 girlfriends almost immediately lost interest in his music. Sritala couldn't be less interested in Fabain's performance aspirations either.

Greg/Gary wants to be cucked. I have no issue with him throwing parties every night where he just sits around and watches. He's a Loser Back Home.

by Anonymousreply 584March 31, 2025 3:39 PM

Why don't you illuminate us with your findings, r581?

by Anonymousreply 585March 31, 2025 3:39 PM

[quote]Jaclyn was in her right to fuck Valentin. Who wouldn't? They're on vacation. Laurie was smart to get with hot Alexei! She didn't know he's sketchy. She should've had a 3 way with Valentin.

Jacklyn cheated on her husband. Slept with Valentin and then pretended as if she didn't even when spotted, gaslighting Laurie---and then we find out she's done something like this at least two other times to Laurie.

Laurie was dumb for getting with Alexei, she knew about his girlfriend.

Jacklyn was right, however, if Laurie doesn't like her life she should change it. In other words: if she keeps having issues with her friends then she should find new ones, if she isn't getting promoted at her job, then she should find another.

[quote]People! Watch the opening credits and the illustrations as each name comes up. All you need to know is there if you pay attention.

I'm hoping that this is wrong, although I know that it's right to some extent.

They added a Scott Glenn card (a tiger looking at a group of fawns) and it coincides with what's happening in Chelsea's title card (a fawn being eaten by a tiger) which implies that maybe whatever Rick did (or didn't do) to that guy, will lead to Chelsea's death. I'm still shocked he didn't immediately go back to the hotel to get her and take her home as if the man's wife isn't running it.

by Anonymousreply 586March 31, 2025 3:42 PM

R581 Says this like he just cracked the code of The White Lotus, meanwhile the opening credits have been a topic of discussion since season one.

by Anonymousreply 587March 31, 2025 3:44 PM

If I were Belinda I’d have said, “I’m not looking to rile up the past, but my business plan called for a $300,000 investment from Tanya and I know she’d want the project to succeed.”

She has no moral obligation to alert the police. Why the agonizing?

by Anonymousreply 588March 31, 2025 3:47 PM

Wouldn't Rick call Chelsea and tell her to move another hotel?

by Anonymousreply 589March 31, 2025 3:53 PM

I wonder if it is Sritala who sends Jim’s bodyguards after Rick because he lied to her about casting her in a movie. That pissed her off and she wants revenge! She wanted to be a star again, dammit!

And he pushed over her husband. I guess that merits a death sentence 🤷🏻

by Anonymousreply 590March 31, 2025 3:55 PM

I hope Chelsea doesn’t die, she’s been the one really likable character this season. She does say that her fate is tied to Rick, or they’re soulmates, or whatnot, so perhaps they both die together.

by Anonymousreply 591March 31, 2025 3:57 PM

R552 maybe because his character is in a deep sunken place and trying his best not to kill his family and himself.

Maybe pay attention.

by Anonymousreply 592March 31, 2025 3:59 PM

She went on about bad luck coming in threes or some other spiritual mumbojumbo. She survived the robbery and the snake bite. I guess she won't survive the third attack

by Anonymousreply 593March 31, 2025 4:00 PM

My theory… the old man and old Asian lady will call the police on Rick, who is so fucking stupid he must have forgotten they know where he’s staying. Tim thinks the police are there for him. The Russians think the police are there for them. Greg thinks Belinda turned him in and the police are there for him. It will be a SHITSHOW

by Anonymousreply 594March 31, 2025 4:02 PM

I don't believe in monogamy so Jacklyn fucking Valentin when Laurie didn't is no big deal to me. Laurie had her chance. Who could turn down Valentin and that ass if he were in your room ready to get it on?

by Anonymousreply 595March 31, 2025 4:06 PM

Again, you not believing in monogamy has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BETRAYAL OF A FRIEND.

Clearly you have no friends because you can’t seem to comprehend that relationship, boundaries etc.

by Anonymousreply 596March 31, 2025 4:08 PM

We need a new post.

by Anonymousreply 597March 31, 2025 4:11 PM

Now a warning?

by Anonymousreply 598March 31, 2025 4:16 PM

New thread.

by Anonymousreply 599March 31, 2025 4:17 PM

r{578} no that is the whole point! No one cared and they immediately started talking. You deep!

by Anonymousreply 600March 31, 2025 4:20 PM

[quote]I don't believe in monogamy so Jacklyn fucking Valentin when Laurie didn't is no big deal to me.

It's not about monogamy, it's about Jaclyn boasting to her friends earlier this season about how addicted she and her new young husband are to each other and how they just can't get enough of fucking each other. The cheating is the least problematic part. Well, maybe not for MAGA Kate, who seems to have much more of an issue with that aspect than Laurie does.

by Anonymousreply 601March 31, 2025 4:23 PM

r600 Seriously. How does that Very Clear Joke fly over people's heads?

by Anonymousreply 602March 31, 2025 4:24 PM

LOCHLAN LIVES!

Rejoice!
