BJD Team, to an existential degree!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 16, 2025 1:11 AM |
Damn I misspelled "Tennis". I hang my head in shame. At least it's correct in Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 16, 2025 1:13 AM |
Are there any white ATP players with yellow skin at Indian Wells? Who will be such players at Miami?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 16, 2025 2:50 AM |
R7 This is so deeply tedious.

R8 It totally is.

I would like to believe Daddy is a thoughtful gentle lover. But American boys tend to be very aggressive sexually.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 16, 2025 3:30 AM |
From the ATP site: Carlos Alcaraz said that nerves and a preoccupation with the big game of Jack Draper were his undoing in his three-set semi-final loss to the British lefty
Was it preoccupation with Jack's big GAME or big something else?
Actually, I find it interesting that Carlos would be spooked by Jack's potential given that the latter has so rarely been in a position to live up to it.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 16, 2025 10:38 AM |
sounds like Carlos isn't very tough mentally
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 16, 2025 1:35 PM |
Sorry if this was posted in the last thread, but Andy Roddick's interview with Rafa is fantastic. Andy is as good as it gets in the tennis interview/commentary game and Rafa really shares some great insights on his career.

Woon working out on Tennis Channel.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 16, 2025 9:46 PM |
Jack must've done some serious visualizing last night and this morning. Ace. Ace. Ace. Ace.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 16, 2025 9:50 PM |
BJD pounds the Brat into screaming submission. Looking like it will be an easy 2 & 2.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 16, 2025 10:19 PM |
Jack Draper. You beautiful winner!
That was POWERFUL.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 16, 2025 10:25 PM |
Jack Draper at the top will be great for tennis!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 16, 2025 10:28 PM |
Fuck, NGL, Holgar is cute af!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 16, 2025 10:30 PM |
I can't stand Holger, but this is a very nice speech. Credit to him.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 16, 2025 10:32 PM |
So basically BJD is perfect.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 16, 2025 10:36 PM |
Jack's now ATP #7 - just 60 points off the Top 5 (Novaxx). I think he's entered the chat for a slam title.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 16, 2025 10:43 PM |
Did Novaxx even play?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 16, 2025 10:46 PM |
Djokovic got bounced early in the tournament. He’s out of gas.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 16, 2025 10:50 PM |
Excited for Jack, love him and his hairy chest so much.
And I can't help but love me some smooth Rune. I'd eat that ass for hours.
On to Miami!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 16, 2025 10:56 PM |
Novaxx had no victories in Indian Wells this year, losing to Botox in the second round.

I know Draper is objectively handsome, but I find other players sexier like Shapo, Woon and (hangs head in shame) RFC Zverev.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 16, 2025 11:19 PM |
Shapo and Woon are forgivable...but the RFC?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 16, 2025 11:26 PM |
The tennis paradise in me acknowledges the tennis paradise in you.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 16, 2025 11:28 PM |
To each his own, R43--to me, your faves are about as sexy as slices of Wonder Bread. My top 3 would be Fils, Navone and FAA. Draper's model handsome, but it's more his humility, courtliness, and sense of humor that put him up there for me.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 16, 2025 11:35 PM |
[quote] Fils, Navone and FAA.
I like the fact that R46 goes for non-white guys.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 16, 2025 11:49 PM |
Humbert, Machac and Djere are also in my top 10, R47.

I love BJD. He seems luscious, humble, gracious. Overcoming those injuries is a big deal.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 17, 2025 6:36 PM |
Call us back when he makes a Slam final, even mixed doubles.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 17, 2025 6:47 PM |
Apples and oranges--see N. Djokovic, likeability in direct disproportion to GOAT factor.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 17, 2025 7:00 PM |
Who said anything about that asshole? I’m judging Draper on his own lack of merit, no one else’s. That’s what being judgmental is all about.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 17, 2025 7:03 PM |
[quote] likeability in direct disproportion to GOAT factor.
I resemble that.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 17, 2025 7:05 PM |
You're judging by accomplishment, R80, not congeniality.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 17, 2025 7:06 PM |
Saw Fils play in person last week, he is beautiful.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 17, 2025 8:06 PM |
Any and all details would be greatly appreciated, R83.
I love Fils, but he could use some anger management. After the Medvedev match, he smashed his racket so hard that shards of it went flying far enough to hurt someone.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | March 17, 2025 9:40 PM |
I felt bad for him, R85. He had the match on his racquet and let it slip away.
But yeah, he shouldn't make a habit of it.

Miami men's draw is out.
Notable first round matches:
Thompson v. Giron
Etcheverry v. Griekspoor
Struff v. ADF
Eubanks v. Opelka
Navone v. Sonego
Tien v. Fonseca
Borges v. Bergs
Nishikori v. Nishioka
Monfils v. Maroszan

Daddy Fritz is all top, however.

R89 Jack is a part time model. I'm sure he's been around plenty of gays and is probably gay friendly. Even though he says he doesn't like modeling, lol.

Based on rankings by the beginning of the French Open, if she continued playing like that, Mirra Andreeva is poised to be # 3 right at the start of the French Open, and if she continues playing this way will be #1 by the end of the year

Alicia Parks just pulled off quite the win against Gracheva despite a shitload of UEs. I was watching a bit of the match and, at 5-2 Gracheva in the second, I turned it. Parks had already lost the first set. When I turned back, Parks had won the second set in a tiebreak 7-6. She pulled off a win in the third!

Unsung Gabriel Diallo takes out Etcheverry with a second set bagel. As in Indian Wells, he'll face Fils again in a doubly callipygous second round match. The winner of that match will then face either ADF or Tiafoe.

by Anonymous | reply 159 | March 21, 2025 2:27 AM |
I don't see Fonseca as the second coming. At least not yet.
I DID see it in: Rafa, Novak, Sinner. I KNEW the second I saw them as teenagers they'd be all time greats. No doubt in my mind.
I thought Carlos had a shot at all time great status , but I wasn't totally sure. So I was kinda wrong about him, since he's on his way there.
I guessed Murray would only be great, not all time great - I was right about that.
But I'm missing what everyone else is seeing in Fonseca. He's got a great forehand, but I just don't see the IQ just yet.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | March 21, 2025 4:54 AM |
Big Four.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | March 21, 2025 5:49 AM |
R160 I would mostly agree with him lacking tennis IQ, but he has some. I watched that match at IW when he lost to Jack Draper, and I was thoroughly impressed with a lot. BUT he's just not patient enough (yet?) to play with the big boys. Too many unforced errors by overcooking shots to make a winner. The best of the best, including Carlitos, are highly consistent in rallies and hit winners in the most opportune times. Remember: Carlos and Jannick weren't always like that. They used to spray balls all over the court, and sometimes still do. But not nearly to the extent Joao does.
Joao needs to learn to grind points, and resist trying to hit the winner when he gets tired.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | March 21, 2025 4:50 PM |

The Shelton v. Wong match was highly entertaining. Wong failed to serve out the match in the third set and Shelton got a bit cocky after he saved a couple match points, forcing a tiebreaker. But then Wong (ranked 128) clinched the match with a clutch serve at 6-5 in the tiebreaker.
by Anonymous | reply 197 | March 22, 2025 6:40 PM |
Tennis Channel showed a WTA player named Baptiste. She's as big as a house! A townhouse!
by Anonymous | reply 198 | March 22, 2025 6:43 PM |
Shelton really needs to start dialling back on the over-the-top celebrations - he's playing the world number 184 and reacting as if he'd just won Wimbledon after every damn point he wins.
It's obnoxious and fucking exhausting. I could cut him some slack initially but he's been on the tour for a couple of years now. Grow the fuck up, Ben!
by Anonymous | reply 199 | March 22, 2025 6:46 PM |
I agree, r199. Shelton saved a couple match points so I’ll grant him some celebration for that but, come on, he should be ashamed the match was as close as it was, and then to lose!

by Anonymous | reply 201 | March 22, 2025 8:04 PM |
R200 Yeah, it's not all celebration, it's just inappropriate and over-the-top celebration. I've often seen him roar after a mid-game (e.g. 30-15) unforced error by an opponent. Dude, you did nothing! You just look like a jerk.

BJD comes back down to Earth against Mensik who was a serving machine, while Jack misfired pretty much all through the match.
by Anonymous | reply 204 | March 22, 2025 8:56 PM |
Draper played terribly, couldn't read Mensik's serve at all (and he's normally pretty good against big servers).
by Anonymous | reply 205 | March 22, 2025 9:05 PM |
I'm available for a nice long chat after my last broadcast if Big Jack is looking for a mentor to talk to so he doesn't get too down on himself after the letdown. It's important to cum I'm sorry come to veteran former players to be talked off a ledge that can drive a hot young player into a slump. And by hot I meant one coming off a hot streak. No, really I did.

While we’re on the subject of obnoxious Brazilian fans can we also talk about any player who wins a point and then points to their ear as in “Cheer more loudly for me and let me hear it.” I find that completely obnoxious.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | March 22, 2025 10:35 PM |
Yeah, most gestures I can deal with if they're done sparingly and on genuinely big points and/or great shots... but all the players who constantly fist pump, ear point, or generally beg for crowd reaction is just obnoxious.
And don't get me started on the racquet chucking/smashing which now seems to be almost universal, and seems to be pretty much ignored by umpires unless it's really extreme.

Fils and Shelton should star in a jockbro gay porn. I'd say Fils is slightly less obnoxious than Shelton. He won't rip a huge "COOOME-OOON" when his opponent makes an unforced error at 15-15 early in the set. Shelton would do that.

by Anonymous | reply 334 | March 25, 2025 1:26 AM |
Tiafoe is undefeated in the first round of tournaments this year. And has not won a second round match (specifically HIS second round, accounting for byes).
You can actually have a decent life on tour at .500 - as long as you're playing a full year's worth of main draw tournaments (not qualifying and Challengers). But it's better to be .500 via, for example, a few first round losses, followed by a SF result, rather than losing in second match all the time.
by Anonymous | reply 335 | March 25, 2025 2:49 AM |
Adding to my previous post, I think Tiafoe is reverting to mean. He's made 2 Slam SFs and a few more QFs. He's won 3 titles, made a Masters final, and been ranked in the Top 10. He's tennis middle age now; there's an established tennis generation below him now who are on their way up. I see him settling into a 20-45 player who can still have his moments, but just isn't at that next level consistently. I mean, that was basically his career thus far - I just don't see him making Slam SFs anymore. So more of the same up-and-down, but at a little lower level - the highs aren't quite as high, and the lows are a little lower.
by Anonymous | reply 336 | March 25, 2025 2:55 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 337 | March 25, 2025 2:57 AM |

RFC team or Fils team?

For pete's sake, Daddy Fritz is America's #1 player (and world #4) and Miami has yet to feature him on Stadium court. I know he's not a big personality or inspires the bizarre outsized passion of Fonseca, but this is rather insulting.

The Fonzie team. Oops. Sorry Brasilia.

I hate the rain delays too - especially having to listen to those Brazilian fans again. The only nice thing is knowing how devastated they’ll be at the end of the night.
And though I risk being accused of child porn I do have to say I’m enjoying The Fonz’s perky nips.

Daddy is hot in a different way than Tommy Paul. Paul is very cute. Daddy is sexy. And horny which DL loves.
by Anonymous | reply 368 | March 26, 2025 4:43 AM |
Objectively I know ODS Tommy is handsome, but there's nothing sexy about him to me. He seems generic. Daddy Fritz though is a bit unconventional looking but very sexy.

by Anonymous | reply 375 | March 26, 2025 6:57 AM |
R375 It's not looking good - Taylor can never get it over the line against Novax, and the RFC hasn't been firing since the Australian Open, and also has a tendency to crumble in the biggest matches.
Cerundolo seems to be on a tear right now, maybe he could pull out a surprise if he gets to the semis?

R396 I suspect that will be his trajectory. He'll have a tourney or two where the old Novak is back. Nearly unbeatable. Followed by early losses that seemingly make no sense.

Yay! I'm so happy. Mensic first set in tie break.

I hadn't seen Mensik play before the Fritz match. He's really impressive. He makes good decisions and doesn't get emotional.

C'mon Mensik, run that old fart right off his feets! C'mon!

by Anonymous | reply 531 | March 31, 2025 2:51 AM |
I had not seen Mensik play before this tournament and I’m so impressed with his composure along with his serve and groundstrokes. I can’t wait to see how he’ll match up against Alcaraz and Sinner.

Looks like Novaxx might have to swallow his pride and drop down to a 250 to get that 100th title.
Mensik seems like a good kid in this interview - humble and with quite a mature, dry sense of humor.
by Anonymous | reply 536 | March 31, 2025 4:56 AM |
Just finished. OMFG. This is glorious.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | March 31, 2025 6:23 AM |
And just like that, I must come out of hiding and resurface.
Sure, Novak won the war, but that doesn't mean I can't rejoice when he loses a battle or two.

I hope Djokovic doesn't win any titles this year.
by Anonymous | reply 546 | March 31, 2025 5:39 PM |
R531. Totally agree. Jakub had an answer for almost everything that Djokovic tried . I havent seen a player lately match Novaxx's every move the way he did
by Anonymous | reply 547 | March 31, 2025 5:41 PM |
If Novak doesn't get that 100th title before Sinner comes back and insists on focussing on bigger tournaments only, he might struggle to pick up any more tournament wins. The young, hungry players aren't intimidated by him in the same way as the Zverev/Tsitsipas/Fritz generation, and he doesn't seem to have the physical fortitude any more to string together 4 or 5 match wins in a row.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | March 31, 2025 6:48 PM |
A 7-6, 7-6 scoreline doesn't every speak of anyone being outplayed drastically, but sure...
by Anonymous | reply 549 | March 31, 2025 7:06 PM |
Its obious that R549 didn't watch the match to see HiS fAvE collapsing from exhaustion.... STFU
by Anonymous | reply 551 | March 31, 2025 9:24 PM |
He was also spared the disgusting sight of that gargantuan stye arising from Novaxx's eyelid like a malignant stalagmite, adding to the Cyclops effect that he's always had.

Djokovic’s loss was a sign of age and decline

Mensik showed off a serve that will be one of the most important weapons in men’s tennis for the next decade.

For R549:
there was a shot that summed up Djokovic’s evening, it came with him serving at 3-4 in the second-set tiebreaker. Mensik had just hit what may have been his worst and most nervous shot of the night, a rushed backhand that landed in the middle of the net, and gave back a mini-break. Was it the lifeline Djokovic needed? On the next point, the two traded groundstrokes; the longer the rally went, the more likely it seemed Djokovic would win it. Instead, when he tried to up the pace on a forehand, he drilled it straight into the net.
by Anonymous | reply 555 | March 31, 2025 11:51 PM |
Once again the lack of tennis knowledge on the tennis thread of the DL shouldn't suprise me as it's always a recurring theme. And of course the shrieking accusations that Djokovic must be my favorite...because I simply have the common sense and awareness of the game to recognize that a 7-6, 7-6 scoreline and the phrase "drastically outplayed" are completely contradictory. But you keep shrieking and name calling like a stunted adolescent. I would also assume you're the wit behind calling Ostapenko Peppa Pig. It's funny because she's fat! Right?

Is this where we talk about Family Circle Cup? Or Virginia Slims of South Carolina?
by Anonymous | reply 557 | April 1, 2025 2:32 AM |
I don’t have a dog in this race but I agree that 2 tiebreakers doesn’t really constitute “a drastically outplayed” thesis. 2 tiebreakers is very competitive.

"Mensik showed off a serve that will be one of the most important weapons in men’s tennis for the next decade."
It always has been. The ability to get free points off serve (ace, error off the return), be in offensive position off the serve, and minimize any situation where you're not at least neutral off the serve, has always been a major factor.
by Anonymous | reply 559 | April 1, 2025 4:19 PM |
The post was about his serve, not serving in general.

This is sad that we have competing next threads. How is the second thread any better or worse than the first one? Both have barely any intro, and neither photo appears without clicking. Both feature repetitive obsessions who have little or no chance to make a dent in the current clay season. We're a small group who post here. It'd be nice if we at least could agree on something as basic as the next thread. But then again, this is the DL.

Quite a line up of hotties for the Bucharest semi-finals - Flava, Fucsovics, and Bosnian, Damir Dzumhur, who was up in the top 30 a few seasons back, dropped down significantly, but has recently climbed back into the top 100.
