R14 The new line-up on MSNBC doesn't start until the 21st of April, I believe. That's when Trump's '100 Days' is over and Maddow returns to one night a week.
Until then, they will be rotating hosts and calling the show 'MSNBC Prime' . This past week was Steele's turn to host solo, I think at some point Symone and Alicia will also have their own week. They will probably do this until the new show launches in April.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 1, 2025 12:55 PM |
Please, oh please...can 'The Weekend' guest Angelo Carusone please fuck me up my ass ? He's got to be one of the hottest guys on their show. Maybe he can be a permanent host on the show as they hire the new team ?
Until then - any shirtless or nude pictures of him anywhere ?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 1, 2025 12:58 PM |
I thought Steele was pretty bad as host on his own. I haven’t seen the Weekend.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 1, 2025 1:51 PM |
R19 I agree - one hour of him as a solo anchor is quite a bit, and by the second half of the show he seems to run out of steam. He's much better when he has two other hosts with him ( The Weekend) where the energy keeps flowing among them.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 1, 2025 1:56 PM |
He is a great fill in for Nicolle, but he still thinks he is a guest.
He needs to shut up and let his specialists speak.

Thank God Joy Reid will no longer be part of these “teams” to break it all down in terms of how everything is whitey’s fault.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 1, 2025 8:00 PM |
I asked this before, maybe it was on the Joy Reid thread.
How come all the other MSNBC anchors who lost shows still get to stick around, but Joy's show was taken off immediately and she was dismissed? If it was just because of her ratings like they claim, they still could have let it run until April 21st, or at least for one full week.
Do we think that was some specific incident we weren't query to? Something as simple as Joy's contract running out at a specific date? it's fishy, right?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 1, 2025 8:06 PM |
[quote] Thank God Joy Reid will no longer be part of these “teams” to break it all down in terms of how everything is whitey’s fault.
Interesting that that’s what you think Joy says. That has not been my experience. Perhaps there’s something about you that influences what you think she is saying? Just a thought.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 1, 2025 8:09 PM |
There must have been an incident where she pissed off the management and they decided to axe her immediately.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 1, 2025 8:09 PM |
Nah. They let her have a last show. They wouldn’t do that if she were fired for cause. Nor would her colleagues have shown up to support her.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 1, 2025 8:11 PM |
She was constantly shown on Fox and conservative outlets where clips of her show were played as examples of the “radical left”. So she was definitely generating publicity, which is usually a good thing, even if her ratings were poor. So something else must have gone down behind the scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 1, 2025 8:20 PM |
Perhaps they offered Joy-Ann Reid another time slot which she declined and instead chose to resign.
I almost feel bad for her, particularly in light of the upcoming Tuesday night team coverage. But we had long warned her that a more polished, professional look was needed. The club-going makeup and clashing casual wardrobe, garish costume jewelry, stark white press-on nails, etc. were all indicative of a post-menopause, midlife crisis, not an attractive screen presence.
Then there was the rapid fire speech pattern and delivery, to the chagrin of guests and viewers alike.
Be best. Sadly, in 2025 the admonition still rings true for POC.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 1, 2025 8:25 PM |
“White male tears” was in reference to specific incidents involving Kyle Rittenhouse and Brett Kavanaugh crying during their trial/hearing and how much power those tears seem to have over the (mostly) white people who judged them. She then expanded the point to include the female “Karens” who weep after being accused of being racists for assuming Blacks were criminals or trespassers.
Insensitive? Maybe? Demonstrating racism? Rittenhouse’s was defending himself for showing up armed to a BLM rally so race is arguably relevant in his case. Certainly relevant to Karens accused of racism. I can see the argument that race really wasn’t directly relevant to her point about Kavanaugh.
But “radical leftist?” Nah.
Her point was the power of a person accused of racism (or in Kavanaugh’s case, sexual assault) weeping to demonstrate that they are the real victims and how the tactic seemed to work. Rittenhouse was acquitted and Kavanaugh was confirmed.
I think her comment was thought-provoking. I think the effort to present it as another example of “reverse racism” was arguably proof of concept.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 1, 2025 9:00 PM |
It very well could be her contract was ending on Friday (the last day of February) and she decided not to stick around for the full week. She could bring closure and say her goodbyes in one night - why drag it out ? And if they chose not to renew her contract, then she knew the end was near for months.
Renewals usually start 3-4 months in advance, which brings us back to November (election day) when her ratings were in free-fall. Renewals are relatively easy with any contracted job - the only thing to negotiate is the 'new pay' (and both parties have a general idea what ballfield they're playing in). They may very well all agreed to keep an eye on the ratings for the months after that before signing off on the renewal, and then let her know in early February (when the new gal took over) she wasn't being renewed, after all because she was losing a third of viewers. And yes - it's possible they offered her something else with the network (as they did with Alex Wagner) and she passed.

Joy had her flaws. She was not irredeemable. She was not good at making good on her errors. Had she been better at it, she would have had the following she would have needed to stay around.

Did it seem like the NYT reporter Rachel had on to talk about Trump's EO tomorrow to establish a crypto reserve, didn't know what he was talking about. He analogized the reserve to the use of the Trump Hotel in his first term. Rachel had to point out that would be more akin to buying into Trump's shit coin to bribe or donate to him directly. The kid just sat there. He ended up providing very little to the topic.
The degree to which the corruption is out in the open, even celebrated, in this Whitehouse is just mindboggling - especially the stuff that clearly benefits the Trump family. And where's the fucking outrage?
Just think back to all the shit Obama took for picking "favorites" in the solar industry.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 7, 2025 6:24 AM |
r78, but what he did contribute, was that Trump established a PERSONAL CRYPTO COIN. That Trump was creating a CRYPTO COIN RESERVE like gold for Fort Knox. That the Crypto Reserve was very much like Trump International Hotel in that it was a fast and easy way to send huge amounts of cash to Trump.
I found him very informative. Are you a Murdoch Analytics Troll, who is poisoning the messenger because the message is so damning?

I'm reminded of Star Trek and the principle of Prime Directive which prohibited Star fleet from interfering in the natural development of alien civilizations.
Meacham, Brinkley, Kearns-Goodwin, etc. are experiencing this incredible time in history and, as historians: (a) know how horrific authoritarian states manifested in the past; (b) realize what lies ahead unless the citizenry overcome their indifference; and (c) are having to document it for posterity.
I cannot imagine their frustration and stress.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 8, 2025 12:31 AM |
[quote] That the Crypto Reserve was very much like Trump International Hotel in that it was a fast and easy way to send huge amounts of cash to Trump.
No, at this point, the reserve would only contain crypto currencies that were already seized by government crackdowns on fraudulent schemes - so primarily Bitcoin. Trump did also propose that eventually the reserve should consist of other currencies - and named a few (corruptly picking favorites), mostly coins associated with some of his biggest donors, like Ripple & Dogecoin. Investing in any of those coins may affect the market as a whole, but does not benefit Trump directly. Even he was not stupid enough to suggest that the reserve should contain quantities of his worthless shit coin.
So Rachel was correct by pointing out, that in lieu of staying in the now re-branded Trump Hotel, you can much more directly bribe Trump by purchasing his garbage-ass crypto. Nothing whatsoever to do with the proposed Reserve.

He can say he peed his pants, but that's just as embarrassing. Just think of all that creamy jizz filling up his bikini shorts.

He is getting the hook on MSNBC (but will still anchor the Saturday edition of NBC Nightly News). It's going to be Ana Cabrera from 10 to noon, Chris Jansing from noon to 2, and Katy Tur from 2 to 4. No more Jose Diaz Balart.

I don't think either will ever officially divorce. Too much money and access-type complications. Mika is more valuable as Joe's wife, just like Melania is more valuable as Trump's spouse.
They'll just live separate lives from their husbands, mostly secretly out of the press. Allegedly, Melania has been doing it for years, and only shows up at events when it's absolutely necessary.

How nice that Mike Barnicle raved about the new Broadway drama "Good Night and Good Luck" starring George Clooney on 'Morning Joe'. He encouraged everyone to go see this. What he didn't mention is the fact that it's one of the most expensive tickets to buy ('good seats' are around $1,000) on Broadway.
So while MJ viewers are sitting home watching the show and learning about their IRAs and 401ks plummeting this week, unaffordable groceries, and all the cuts to government funding they somehow depend upon, there's always the bright light of escaping to NYC for the weekend and buying tickets to the show. Add in transportation, hotel and restaurants for you and your partner, and it will be one of the most expensive get-away weekends in history.

[quote] [R197], if you are a Confederate
Repeat that again and it’s still false. Before the Civil War, the Bill of Rights applied only to the Congress and the states were seen as the guarantors of the people’s rights against the new federal government. The 14th Amendment applied the Bill of Rights to the states and established the federal government as the guardian of the people’s rights against the states. Before the Civil War the states were seen as independent sovereign entities that had entered into an alliance for the mutual protection. The “United States” was a plural noun. After the Civil War, the federal government was established as the sole sovereign state.
If radical changes result from our current circumstances, it will result in the 4th Republic.
by Anonymous | reply 203 | March 26, 2025 1:15 PM |
Same document before and after the war. Only extended according to the valid amendment process. If you do not believe, like all good Confederate traitors, that the Constitution is an evolving document, then you see the right to privacy as a mere 59 year blip.
In the Second Republic the enforcement of the Emoluments Clause will be mandatory.

I have no idea why Shapiro is dismissed here. I like him, too.
However, my post is about Ossoff's interaction today on the Hill, and his interview with Maddow. In the past 24 hours, he has come off as quite 'presidential' (IMO) and a strong, potential candidate for 28. R200 It no longer matters if a Dem Candidate is Jewish because, until they address the fact that our voting apparatus is seriously damaged, the Republican candidate will always win from now on. We, the electorate, no longer have a say despite many believing we do.
The Republicans won POTUS in 2000, 2004, 2016 and 2024. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE ELECTIONS WAS HACKED!
Obama won because his tremendous support overwhelmed their cheating attempts, although they came close in 2012 in Ohio. Biden won in 2020 because of Covid causing the electorate to heavily use mail-in voting.
By 2024, Elon had figured out how to circumvent the mail-in voting problem, as well as lots of other shit. It's why Orange stain was able to "win" the popular vote, too. Although he really didn't.
As Bill Maher likes to say, I know this for a fact although I can't prove it. (there was proof, but they were able to get rid of most of it after inauguration day because no Dems called for investigations).

White House Correspondents’ Association Cancels Amber Ruffin Performance at Annual Gala Dinner:
by Anonymous | reply 230 | March 29, 2025 7:50 PM |
WTF?!
[quote]WHCA President Eugene Daniels wrote in a letter to members today that “the WHCA board has unanimously decided we are no longer featuring a comedic performance this year. At this consequential moment for journalism, I want to ensure the focus is not on the politics of division but entirely on awarding our colleagues for their outstanding work and providing scholarship and mentorship to the next generation of journalists.”
I never miss an episode of CNN's "Have I Got News For You;" Amber Ruffin and her co-stars Roy Wood, Jr. and Michael Ian Wood are hilarious! I hope tonight's episode addresses her dismissal.
Who knew Eugene Daniels would side with this president and the homophobes. I never liked him; you're skating wearing heated blades on thin ice with me, MSNBC. You and he have some 'splaining to do!

Well, like most black gay TV news personalities, he is married to a white man.
No one should be surprised by Eugenia’s decision when you consider her sense of fashion and an 80s Jeri curl Afro that looks like a wig you wear for Halloween or a 70s party.

Just when I thought my MSNBC morning viewing couldn't be more comforting than with the absence of the boisterous Simone Sanders-Townsend, sitting in for Ali Velshi was Michele Norris, a refined mature Black woman professional. Generations of my maternal ancestors rejoiced in pride.

Ms. Sanders and her jugs filled in for Lawrence tonight. Whatever she was wearing was a little to 'busy' visually on my big-screen TV and was making me nauseous, so I clicked it off. Most times she is dressed appropriately for a woman her size on TV, but not tonight. She needed a solid color.

It's too bad because she's a very smart woman and has much to offer viewers.

Matthews argued that because protesters were preventing Jewish students from going to classes, it was right for Harvard to agree with the administration's deal the way that other universities did.

You mean the woman who saw her ratings drop like a free-falling rock from the sky since November, 2024 (while the other hosts remained steady with their ratings) ? I think her ratings solves the mystery.

[quote]I think her ratings solves the mystery.
I think not. In fact, Nielsen says differently. If you want to talk ratings slumps, then look no further than Morning Joe, whose ratings NOSEDIVED after their little Mar-A-Lardo jaunt, which caused the network’s overall ratings to tank. But, you keep doing you by upholding the scrubbing of anything black and brown due to the obvious Trump capitulation happening across this country.

R378 I guess you don't understand the simplest factors in television programming, like Morning Joe in the 7 am slot is not nearly as important as MSNBC's primetime schedule which begins at 7 pm each weeknight. Or that it didn't matter where Reid's ratings were headed 'when she was fired', as she lost nearly a third of her audience from November - February (which fell from 1.3 million viewers in February 2024 to just 973,000 in February 2025). Because she added a hundred viewers the week before she was fired doesn't exactly help turn things around for her.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Joy / R378.

Yes, just like Tiffany Cross before her and Melissa Harris Perry before her. Tiffany, like Joy, also had good ratings before she was mysteriously fired, and she also refused to bite her tongue when speaking on issues of race and the fucked up cult of Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | April 17, 2025 10:04 PM |
“Ratings for every MSNBC primetime host declined in the period after the election, but Reid’s network drops do not appear substantially more than her peers. Melber’s total-viewer ratings were down 42 percent (1.552 million vs. 903,000) between Nov. 6 and the end of February from their 2024 pre-election ratings—as were Reid’s (1.421 million vs. 825,000). Hayes saw a 45 percent decline in that same period (1.496 million vs. 820,000).”
“In the 25-54 demo, Melber was down 51 percent (156,000 vs. 77,000), while Hayes was down 50 percent (166,000 vs. 83,000). Reid, however, was only at 47 percent (158,000 vs. 84,000), as was Psaki (146,000 vs. 77,000). Maddow and Laurence O’Donnell’s drops were less than 40 percent.“

Symone, Michael and Alicia don’t draw the ire of major right wing outlets like Joy and Tiffany do. J & T pull absolutely NO punches when discussing the shit that is going on in this country, and while Michael doesn’t either (it’s what I like about him), at the end of the day, he is a republican, a former RNC chair and a man. The demonic MAGA brood won’t be too harsh on him.

MSNBC told Tiffany to tamp down her Tucker Carlson takes and she refused, which is part of the reason they fired her. Her bosses should have had her back, but they stabbed her in it instead. Has anyone else noticed that - like 'Whoopi' on 'The View' each day - Rachel Maddow needs some serious ass-kissing by her guests each night ?
Now I love Maddow and watch her show regularly never missing an episode. However, her ass being kissed is what's happening more frequently and becoming more disturbing. Here's how it plays out in two different scenarios repeated all the time..
Maddow will report on a major court case, and dissect it for the viewers. She then brings in a legal expert as her guest to talk about said case, and she starts with "Now I'm not a lawyer, nor do I have any legal background, so correct me if I'm wrong, BUT did I interpret that ruling correctly ?" The guest then says she's got everything right, indeed, and her interpretation was spot on (kiss, kiss). In other words, 'Yes, Rachel, you're even more intelligent than you think you are, and even though you're not a lawyer nor have any legal background, you're skilled enough to argue a case before the nine judges on the US Supreme Court. Hell, you're smart enough to be sitting on the Supreme Court." Rachel then gives her 'aw, shucks' look for appreciation. Now the interview can begin..
In the other scenario, no legal case is involved, and the guest is a government official or elected senator / congressperson / governor / mayor or 'newsmaker'. So Rachel introduces him / her, and says "Thanks for agreeing to come on this show on such short notice." The guest then turns it around and thanks Maddow profusely for inviting them on the show, says there's no other place they'd rather be, and then thanks her for covering the story...before the interview even starts. (kiss kiss). Rachel then gives her 'aw, shucks' look for appreciation. Now the interview can begin..
Like with Whoopi on 'The View', the guests have been told to kiss Maddow's ass loudly on TV (let's hear that pucker). The ass-kissing doesn't stop until Maddow indicates the 'aw, shucks' look; only then can the interview can begin.
by Anonymous | reply 420 | April 20, 2025 4:54 PM |

I’ve never appreciated Rachel’s “Did I get anything wrong?”schtick. It always struck me as an invitation for praise and as far as I’ve seen that’s how it always plays out. Has any guest ever said “Yes. You’ve missed a key point” or “you got some fact wrong?”
by Anonymous | reply 423 | April 20, 2025 5:47 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 425 | April 20, 2025 6:10 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 426 | April 20, 2025 7:06 PM |
Yes, R420. I've been saying the same thing about that pretentious know-it-at for years. The attention she craves and garners in this host/ guest dynamic is nauseating. She takes patting oneself on the back to the steroidal level.
by Anonymous | reply 427 | April 20, 2025 8:24 PM |
I see it as showing that Rachel does her homework and researches the topic she's going to ask about. What you're calling the ass-kissing is probably relief from the guest that they don't have to try to correct the interviewer from all the misguided crap they lead with and they can get straight to the main topic.
by Anonymous | reply 428 | April 20, 2025 8:45 PM |

I was hoping Nocole would start with, 'So are you all happy that my friend Joy Reid - a black woman - was fired to make way for the three of you ? Anyone feeling guilty about knocking the black woman off the air ? Hmmm? Alicia? Want to break your silence ? How about you, Ms. Sanders ? Michael, you seem awfully quiet...'

I don't want to hear Michelle Obama complain about anything. She was a great First Lady who took a lot of abuse but she's complaining about things like having to straighten her hair. I think she's been well compensated and lauded for her service. More people praised her for not showing up for the inauguration than criticized her.

Joyce Vance was on fire this morning on 'The Weekend' explaining what happened with the judge who got arrested. Lisa Rubin, who always strives to be the smartest one in the room, tried helplessly to keep up.

[quote]Ali Velshi's weekend show will expand to 3 hours
This is a mistake.
by Anonymous | reply 478 | April 26, 2025 2:18 PM |
Velshi’s show is slotted for three hours. He’s not hosting today, at least not for the first hour.

Katie Phang got a little choked up at the end of her last show today.

Comcast wants to dump MSNBC, but there are no takers.

I hated both Joy and Hayes but would rather watch Joy ‘’in a pinch’’. Surprised and saddened her numbers were going up and I’m sure many do miss her-just not me. How did Hayes ever get that job? HE WAS RACHEL’S WHITE STRAIGHT MALE FRIEND-That’s it.

I am sure Elton would love to own whatever MSNBC morphs into.

Alex Witt on the George Santos sentencing:
"The judge didn't throw just the book at him, she threw the whole bookcase!"

Rachel on Katie's last show, interestingly from NYC, was gracious and heartfelt.
Two wonderful women.

The Correspondents Dinner is pre-show live NOW on YouTube.
Miss Daniels appears to be in Suffragette White.
by Anonymous | reply 486 | April 27, 2025 1:02 AM |
Miss Daniels looks and sounds ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 487 | April 27, 2025 1:04 AM |
No comic and no POTUS this year, right? What have they replaced them with?
by Anonymous | reply 488 | April 27, 2025 1:18 AM |
r488, it is sounding like a Rotary Club Meeting with Negroes.
by Anonymous | reply 489 | April 27, 2025 1:26 AM |
R488 They have replaced them with Miss Daniels and Miss Billy Porter.
by Anonymous | reply 490 | April 27, 2025 1:30 AM |
Did any actual press, along with the usual camera whore celebs, show up?
by Anonymous | reply 491 | April 27, 2025 1:34 AM |
Symone partied too hard at the WHCD and it shows!!

Why did Muthah Daniels get a pass for firing Amber Ruffin?
by Anonymous | reply 493 | April 27, 2025 10:41 PM |
Because it was black on black violence.
The kind that racist America condones.
That and a whole lot of cash.
by Anonymous | reply 494 | April 27, 2025 11:50 PM |
R409 if that weekend trio is a real thing and not a joke it can’t survive and it shouldn’t survive. The idea

R493 When this happened a month or so ago, they glossed over it on 'The View'. Sunny started in with the fact that she's a black female, but never said that Daniels (a gay black man) is the one who changed plans and fired her. I wonder why ?
I'm curious how Sunny and Whoopi address this on Monday, when Ruffin is a guest. Will they gloss over the fact it was Daniels' decision ?
by Anonymous | reply 496 | April 28, 2025 12:47 AM |
Daniels gave a long and lame explanation for cancelling Ruffin on Lovett Or Leave It. These just aren't funny times. He also shares his coming out saga.
by Anonymous | reply 497 | April 28, 2025 11:46 AM |
I hope Amber includes some zingers for Princess Eugene on the view (April 30 11:00 am ET). He should have toned down his ridiculous costume if he didn’t want to offend. That’s one DEI hire even I would fire.
by Anonymous | reply 498 | April 28, 2025 2:05 PM |
I used to like Daniel’s but after he fired Ruffin forget it. He can get in line with Joe and Mika.

Really?! An OG Never Trumper. That alone elevates him for me over all those committed liberals who either sat out the '16 election or voted for Jill Stein.
by Anonymous | reply 502 | April 29, 2025 1:57 AM |
That Kasich is a principled conservative who left his lifetime party in the aftermath of the hostile takeover by MAGAts makes him even more deserving of praise.
by Anonymous | reply 504 | April 29, 2025 5:37 PM |
Go praise him. I'll always think he sucks although perhaps incrementally less than the rest of his party, which he has not disavowed. He's just distanced himself from Trump. Big Whoop.
Time for a David Gura break.

Ari’s obsession with Carville is destructive. Carville’ a constant criticism of non-Centrist Democrats is only helping the GQP. Ari’s deification of Carville isn’t helping anyone. Time for that bald headed, drunk cracker to stay home with his demented Republicant wife. His time has passed.
