Galen appears to be having fun with this story, but these stories no longer work on soaps. The fun of these stories is everyone being fooled and the imposter sleeping with the love interest of the person he's impersonating. You can't do that anymore.

We are coming close to the end of Ron's run. Based on how contracts work, I'm assuming he would have already been told by now that his option wasn't being picked up. I think Body and Soul got him fired, and they may have told him to start wrapping it up, because the story does seem to be wrapping up.

^Exactly. I’m not defending Ron, but he does not have total control over what gets on the air.

Ron has done some very good work but when he goes off-track, he really goes off. "Body and Soul" from the start has been shaky at best and has only grown more tedious and tiresome with each week that passes.

We've never seen an episode of it broadcast on the air since Abe and Kate took over and I cannot imagine how they would be able to do such a show with only half a dozen or so cast members. It strains credibility.

Ron did some fine work around Victor's passing as well as Doug's. His scenes with Leo and/or Hattie and Marlena continue to show his strength at making a connection between characters who previously had little interaction. They're simple, nice and often touching which is probably more of a credit to the actors.

However, as much as I like JPL, the entire Xander and Philip storyline is a snooze as is Ava being kidnapped, the woman in white, Rafe/Arnold and EJ and Belle.

Ultimately it is the EP who oversees everything, and he has clearly been asleep at the job for much of the time.

I am open to allowing the new group of writers to win me over, but patience only goes so far.

I am curious about how they'll address John's passing and hope that whoever wrote it (whether Ron or the new writers) will make it all it should and deserves to be.

The one-two punch of the writer's strike and Alarr's firing really affected the show. Regardless of whatever was going on behind the scenes, Alarr seemed to keep the narrative tight, and the guest stars/returns regular and surprising. B&S seemed like a traditional 3 or 4 month arc that was stretched into 9+ months, servicing no one. Imagine being a writer (and not a producer) living on the opposite coast from where the show is produced and shouldering the blame for every misstep or complaint. At least the DAYS cast never seemed out to get him the way the cunts over at GH did.

Exactly what has Janet Spellman Drucker accomplished as Co-Executive Producer? She’s been in that position a year now. The show has gotten worse under her day to day leadership. Days rarely makes Peacock’s Top 10 shows these days.

From what I've read/heard, it seems like Ron went with Body & Soul because the B&S scenes were so well received during the Abe's is kidnapped storyline. My guess is, being the big OLTL fangurl that he is, he wanted this to be his version of Fraternity Row.

Ron is a little too 80s camp for my taste, but I appreciate the fact that he loves soap operas, and he gets it, even though I don't always agree with his story choices. If you're doing a big anniversary, or an event story like a big funeral or wedding, you definitely want Ron writing. He knows how to do that sort of thing like no one else.

I sort of wish Ron had gotten a chance to write during the days of big budgets on soaps.

Clearly, Ron got the idea for the “Body & Soul” reboot from the actual reboot of the Aussie soap “Neighbours”

If he actually watched an episode of that show, he would have seen how a reboot of a beloved show actually works.

I started watching it three weeks ago on Amazon Prime, and I’m hooked.

While it was a nice break from "Body and Sore" today, what was served made for a slow moving 37 or 38 minutes. However, the tedium did enable me to do all of my personal bookkeeping and get supper started. It seems a long, long time ago that I would actually sit, somewhat enthralled, and not wanting to take my focus off of the on-air proceedings.

Jackee is a terrible actress. So fucking annoying.

The show has clearly run out of interesting ways to tell a story and is just treading water. I hold little hope for the new writers salvaging this mess.

Plus, he organizes each storyline within an episode as a whole, rather than skip around like it's done in the actual broadcast. That makes it much easier to follow things in written form. The website also includes screencaps from the episode, so you're able to see the young, captivating, and alluring Marlena face the challenges of another day.

I hope DOOL leaves the door open for his character to return. Y&R is very poor at writing new characters. I can’t see him lasting for any length of time on the show. It’s sucked for 25 years.

"Audra Charles" played by Zuleka Silver is a relatively new character on Y&R, and she's one of the best casting finds in a long time. And the recently-added "Holden Novak" (Nathan Owens) and "Damian Kane" (Jermaine Rivers) are also new characters, and they both look very promising.
