I have to give some credit to Titsy, Even after a loss he stopped to sign autographs for a little bit.

The Olympics carries massive prestige, even though as a tournament it's actually a sub-Masters level event - because it has broad resonance - non-tennis fans, even non-sports fans, know Olympic gold - and it links a tennis accomplishment to a top accomplishment in many other sports. But it's unique prestige, different from a Slam. I don't know why people try to create extra majors.

Watching Opelka-Legz+. It was at last year's 2024 Australian Open, only one year ago, that Legz+ first got DL's wide attention. He beat Tiafoe and before that match he they showed him warming up on an exercise bike. I'm only a casual tennis fan, basically just tune in to the majors, so my observation is not at all well informed. But to my eye, it seems there's a tendency for Australian players to really lay it on thick in terms of acting on their injuries. Holding body parts, grimacing in pain, limping, gesticulating to their box. Kyrgios did it the other night. The Kokk has been doing it this evening. It's as though they need the audience to buy into their soreness so that if they lose the match, they have something to pin it on. If they pull through and win, the media hail them as heroes. Then, when they lose subsequent matches, they are able to fall back on their physical woes and blame that.

I haven't articulated it well, but does anybody else see where I'm coming from? Or am I being pointlessly bitchy?

Carlos is like a hulking bull, even more so than Nadal.

The only good thing about an RFC / Novaxx semi final is that it guarantees one of them won't make the final.

Slightly mitigating: the AO is Carlos's weakest slam. He's only got to the QFs while he's won all the other slams.

Djokovic’s first serve has gone off, leaving lots of opportunities for Alcaraz.

Well, the good news is Novaxx now has to get through RFC and likely Il Gingio. That's a all order.

Carlitos has to put in the work on that second serve, and the mental side.

He just doesn't keep his foot down when he gets momentum back - something that Novaxx is a master at. So many times in that match Alcaraz dug deep and broke back only to deliver a limp next service game.

Alcaraz definitely did not bring his “A” game today. There were flashes of it, but he just couldn’t sustain any focus throughout the match.

R598 Bit harsh. He's still only 21 and has 4 slam singles. Djokovic in terms of numbers is the greatest of all time especially at the AO. Once Djokovic is out of the picture, I wouldn't be surprised if he can win an AO. Nadal has just two AO wins and one of them was won when idiot Novaxx was banned from the tournament.

I agree, r599. Alcaraz is still so young. He needs to learn how to better manage the ups and downs of a match--a skill that can be developed over time, especially with the right coaches.
