The long-standing feud between music icons Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez has seemingly taken a new turn.
According to a report, Carey has serious thoughts about her fellow singer's tour cancellation and marital troubles.
An insider disclosed that she has enjoyed seeing Jennifer Lopez "fall on her face" after her tour was canceled.
According to In Touch, an insider revealed that the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer has derived pleasure from seeing Lopez struggle after their long-running rivalry.
"Mariah is really excited to be getting back to Vegas and looking forward to proving she's still at the top of the game when it comes to putting on a show and bringing in ticket sales," the source told the news outlet. "She's extra excited to show that she's still got it after J. Lo had to go and cancel her concert tour."
The legendary vocalist has reportedly been keeping an eye on Lopez's canceled tour and her alleged marital woes with Hollywood star Ben Affleck "very closely and took a lot of pleasure in seeing her fall on her face."
The source continued, "She believes it's karma biting her in the butt because she's not as talented as she thinks and way too arrogant."
The pair have been embroiled in a feud that began in the late '90s when Lopez signed a record deal and started collaborating with Carey's ex-husband, Tommy Mottola.
The bad blood between them was so profound that Carey infamously declared, "I don't know her," when asked about Lopez during a 2008 interview.
It appears that Carey has made Lopez a subject of ridicule amongst their circle of friends. An insider told In Touch that Carey has been "trash-talking" the actress and laughing about her imminent divorce from Affleck.
"For J. Lo, it's a huge big kick in the teeth with Mariah making all these huge concert plans, especially because she knows how much she's been trash-talking her and laughing about her divorce from Ben," the source explained.
The insider noted that Carey and Lopez "have so many pals in common," so Lopez has heard "it all second and third-hand."
"Now she's going to have to suffer the indignity of seeing Mariah take the stage. But J. Lo isn't giving up; she's hoping to pick herself up and get the tour back on track once all this mess dies down," the source noted.
They added, "And a big motivation will be going head-to-head with Mariah and competing for her holiday fan base. It's hard to believe she'd be thinking that far ahead, but that's J. Lo for you; she always has a game plan."
