The Democratic Nation Convention begins Aug. 19th

What will it look like? Will Barbra sing? Kathy Griffin joke?

Who's invited... and who is not?

I accept your nomination for President of the United States.

by Anonymousreply 1July 19, 2024 12:49 PM

Biden is going to stay, right? Everything is planned and choreographed at these events a year in advance.

by Anonymousreply 2July 19, 2024 12:55 PM

they really need to ignore Trump and spend the whole convention presenting themselves as a party of action with vision. the rnc was nothing but emperor worship and trailer trash spectacle. nothing of substance. republicans can't talk about substance or vision because their policies are wildly unpopular with even their own voters. if democratic and republican policies are put side by side in plain language, support for the democratic platform would be utterly overwhelming. over and over and over and over and over again they need to hammer home exactly how and why they are the party that is behind the working class voter. but they won't. they'll come out and say the country and the economy is doing amazing and it'll blow up in their face because most people are living in hell.

I accept your nomination for President of the United States.

by Anonymousreply 4July 19, 2024 1:43 PM

My predictions is it will be a disaster, but Pete Buttigieg will be elegant

by Anonymousreply 5July 19, 2024 1:45 PM

I predict a lot of speeches will be written last minute. So we will see how those go. Lot of speakers may have to think up nice things to say about a nominee or VP they basically just met. Will be interesting.

I can't wait for Biden's speech as he hands off the nomination to his eventual successor. That will be emotional and expect standing ovations. People will have a moment of second guessing the calls for him to step down, but he'll mess up somewhere in the speech, reminding us why he had to go.

by Anonymousreply 10August 18, 2024 12:52 AM

Super Blue Moon on Monday, hold on to your butts.

by Anonymousreply 11August 18, 2024 12:54 AM

Fox News booth at the convention will feature Miss Lindzey for commentaries.

Will she be sober?

by Anonymousreply 12August 18, 2024 1:22 AM

Wouldn't it be a HUGE plot twist if Joe Biden gave a speech to the convention, resigning as President on Monday?

Then it would be immediately followed by the swearing in of Kamala Harris as the 47th President of the Untied States, and our first female President.

Culminating on Thursday with her nomination to be the Democratic nominee for President?

Now THAT would be a convention!

Republicans would have a fucking heart attack!

by Anonymousreply 13August 18, 2024 1:53 AM

Streisand is not scheduled to attend or perform (she did appear on Zoom the other night for 'Jewish Women for Harris' which raised a lot of money.

All the Democratic presidents will be in attendance except Carter, who turns 100 on October 1. He may do a 'zoom' greeting to the conventioneers, though (so it's been said). His grandson will be there to take his place in person.

For entertainment, there are rumors Beyonce will perform and they're working on getting Taylor Swift to close out the convention on Thursday night. She's no Hulk Hogan, but...

by Anonymousreply 14August 18, 2024 1:54 AM

Apparently, one night during the week they are going to pay tribute to the past 40 years of women on the ticket.

1984 - Geraldine Ferraro is the VP candidate, the first female VP candidate in US history.

2016 - Hillary Clinton is the Presidential candidate - first ever female Presidential candidate in US history.

2020 - Harris is the second female VP candidate, the first minority female candidate, first minority / female to be sworn in as VP.

2024 - Harris is the second female Presidential candidate, the first minority female candidate, the second minority Presidential candidate.

As it was said on MSNBC today - they want to emphasize this (especially) to the women voters in the country, and compare it to the Republican (all white men) party. If any female can still vote for Trump after the DNC, they really need a lobotomy.

[quote] Turncoat Teamsters President Sean O'Brien NOT invited to speak at DNC

DETROIT (AP) — Members of the Teamsters will host Vice President Kamala Harris for a roundtable discussion in the near future, but union President Sean O'Brien has yet to get an invitation to speak at next week's Democratic National Convention.

Kara Deniz, a spokeswoman for the 1.3 million member union, said in an email Friday that the Teamsters are working with Harris' campaign on dates for the roundtable.

But O'Brien, who angered some Democrats by speaking at the GOP convention last month, has not received a reply to his request to speak at the Democratic National Convention, which begins Monday in Chicago, Deniz said Friday night.

O'Brien made the request to the Democrats at the same time he asked Republicans, she said.

A person briefed on convention planning said Saturday that O'Brien will not speak, but the Teamsters will have a presence on the convention stage. The person, who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the schedule, would not give further details.

Democrats have been the party of labor unions for decades, while Republicans largely have greeted them with hostility. Most major unions, including the AFL-CIO and the United Auto Workers, already have endorsed Harris.

But the Teamsters met with her GOP opponent, Donald Trump, in January, and O'Brien received a tepid reception when he spoke on the opening night of the Republican convention in Milwaukee. In his speech, O'Brien criticized both major political parties for not doing enough to help working people.

The Teamsters say the decision on a presidential endorsement will be made after the conventions.

Earlier this year, Trump sat down with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in an effort to earn the union's support. Emerging from that meeting, Trump boasted that a significant chunk of union voters has backed him and said of a possible Teamsters endorsement, “Stranger things have happened.”

But in a Monday discussion on the social media platform X with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Trump praised Musk for firing workers who went on strike. Musk laughed and agreed with him. Although it wasn't clear what Trump was referring to, the statements brought rebukes from unions accusing Trump and Musk of being anti-labor.

The United Auto Workers even filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, alleging that statements from Trump and Musk interfered with workers who may want to join a union. The NLRB said it would investigate.

“Both Trump and Musk want working class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly,” UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement.

[quote]Biden isn’t going to resign. That would be a complete slap in the face to him.

Harris doesn't want or need the burden of running the country while she's campaigning against the orange menace, either.

by Anonymousreply 36August 18, 2024 12:02 PM

And why exactly would he resign? He's not embroiled in a scandal, nor is he on death's door. I imagine people who keep bringing that up don't follow politics (or history) all that closely, they just tune in during election campaigns.

by Anonymousreply 37August 18, 2024 12:17 PM

[quote] And why exactly would he resign?

Why exactly do you think he stepped down from running for reelection after winning the primaries?

by Anonymousreply 38August 18, 2024 1:19 PM

Because he couldn't be president for four more years, genius. That's entirely different from hanging on for six more months to finish the mandate on autopilot.

by Anonymousreply 39August 18, 2024 1:24 PM

Communists and socialist labels don't convey the menace they used to. That's living in the past...like 40-50 years ago. People are fucking tired of labels anyway. They just want government to work and GTF out of the way. So you can call her a communist or a socialist but if Kamala is gonna give me money to buy a house, or help out with the childcare and give me money for my kids, fuck a label. And fuck labels if Kamala wants to get rid of junk fees and lower the costs of healthcare. Shit. People travel more now. And you know we are aware of the way things work in Europe. We can go live in France or Sweden or Germany or WTF ever and get healthcare and family leave and great vacation time off. Our work weeks would be civilized and life would be a lot less fraught. So Trump can hurl all kinds of insults and as far as I see he is the real socialist subsidizing corporate welfare and giving the wealthy a free ride on taxes. Fuck all of them.

by Anonymousreply 40August 18, 2024 1:31 PM

R39 Oh, well, that's perfectly okay then. A country with a President on autopilot while the VP is busy on the campaign trail and not able to run the country either. No worries.

by Anonymousreply 41August 18, 2024 1:43 PM

Anyone who thinks Biden is on autopilot is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 42August 18, 2024 1:54 PM

Anyone who still thinks Biden is okay is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 43August 18, 2024 1:55 PM

The entertainment of Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock will propel President Trump to victory.

The Democrats can’t match that.

by Anonymousreply 44August 18, 2024 2:01 PM

New details on the DNC's themes and speakers:

Monday: "For the People" — President Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, Secretary Clinton, Chicago Mayor Johnson.

Tuesday: "A Bold Vision for America's Future" — President Obama, Second Gentleman Emhoff, Illinois Gov. Pritzker.

Wednesday: "A Fight for Our Freedoms" — Gov. Walz, President Clinton, Speaker Emerita Pelosi.

Thursday: "For Our Future" — Vice President Harris accepts the nomination.

Kyle Griffin says that Michelle Obama will also speak on Tuesday.

No word yet on Beyonce.

Nothing that MAGA/Trump is throwing at Harris/Walz is sticking. It's great to see. Kamala needs to continue taking it to the people & giving little time to mainstream media. It's driving them insane! Will be muting Pelosi and Michelle Obama.

by Anonymousreply 48August 18, 2024 2:23 PM

R43, the fact that the country is humming along totally blows your argument out of the water. Even if Joe is not ok (which I don’t believe), his team is doing an amazing job. Geez we just completed a complex hostage negotiation while Joe was supposedly useless.

Joe is not resigning, nor should he.

by Anonymousreply 49August 18, 2024 2:29 PM

Will Jack Schlossberg speak?

by Anonymousreply 50August 18, 2024 2:29 PM

Will Barbra sing? Of course not. We’re trying to move away from old people, OP.

by Anonymousreply 51August 18, 2024 2:31 PM

Joe is doing a fine job on 'autopilot' - gas prices are falling, the economy is stronger than ever, inflation is nearly back to 'pre-pandemic' levels, unemployment remains at the lowest levels in 50 years, mortgage rates have fallen, etc. This will be a great week for the DNC.

by Anonymousreply 52August 18, 2024 2:33 PM

R51 If that's what they're doing, then they best not invite soon-to-be 43 year old Beyonce! She's now considered 'over the hill' and hitting middle-age. Yikes !

by Anonymousreply 54August 18, 2024 2:36 PM

Things are looking up, yes, R52. But do you understand that Joe Biden is not “making” it happen? Our economic situation will resolve itself, there’s no magic button being pushed by Biden or any president.

by Anonymousreply 57August 18, 2024 2:39 PM

No Taylor Swift?

by Anonymousreply 58August 18, 2024 2:40 PM

Beyoncé is supposed to perform and introduce Harris.

Famewhore John Legend and his hatchet face, child bullying wife are supposed to be there as well. Yuck

Supposedly they want to limit celebrity involvement but they still could have a better invite list.

Kinzinger is slated to speak on Thursday night, the same evening Vice President Kamala Harris will address convention delegates.

Oh, there will be protests, alright.

[quote] There WILL be protests, question is just how big and how nasty they'll get.

Correct. The amount of people may reach into the couple of thousands.

Still, I think they'll be overwhelmingly orderly, with, of course, the rare random disorderly ones getting their Fox News moments.

Seriously, if any protester thinks it will be a good idea to test or provoke the personnel of the Chicago Police Dept., they should eliminate that thought.

I'm not cheerleading for the police, I'm just saying that they'll go along to get along, but if you think they're going to allow disorderly conduct, guess again.

They ain't the 1968 baton wielders, but they will make it very clear that you must Obey. The. Commands. because they' have ways of dealing with you that are very much appropriate, but get the point across.

by Anonymousreply 80August 18, 2024 6:06 PM

It's a tricky situation because if the police overdo it, the progressives will be butthurt.

Honestly, this shit is the last thing we need right now, but I guess it can't be avoided.

by Anonymousreply 81August 18, 2024 6:09 PM

I desperately want Harris to win, & crush Trump badly in the process, but I won’t be watching any of the convention. I have no interest in politicians giving speeches. The debate is another matter. Although I couldn’t watch the June debate - too apprehensive - I’m eager to watch the Harris/Trump matchup.

There have already been fences put up to keep out protesters, but the city has allowed the protesters to put up a stage.

by Anonymousreply 83August 18, 2024 6:18 PM

Why are you acting like the Pro-Palestinian protests are a bad thing? They will just increase media coverage and ratings for the convention, which is a good thing. Trump is mad that nobody cared enough to protest his boring convention. The Pro-Palestinian protests also make it look like Democrats are not listening to them, which is not necessarily a bad thing to the vast majority of the country. It undercuts the Republican talking point that Democrats don't like Israel. It's a win-win.

Many of those protesting don't even consider themselves Democrats. They have contempt for the party. Besides, the unavoidable presence of far-left demonstrators at any large, high-profile political event is almost a given these days and not likely to tarnish the image of the party. People do know the difference.

They're fun, mixed in with a lot of cheering for your team, inspirational speeches, great moments, and pomp and pageantry.

That said, I have not watched any of the Donald Trump conventions, because they would literally have made me sick to my stomach. I despise him.

Also, I didn't watch the Democratic Convention in 2020 because Covid just ruined the vibe for me.

Sadly, I don't have cable tv this year, so I probably won't be able to watch any of the convention, except for clips of it that I'll only be able to catch on youtube.

by Anonymousreply 109August 18, 2024 8:34 PM

It's not like anybody's going to ask me, but I think Kamala's campaign has proven one thing: Why do we need a long, protracted primary season anymore? Because I'm a democrat and programmed to expect the worst, I am amazed at how smooth this has been. I think in the future, just cut out the bullshit and just go straight to the big one. She's gotten good press and decent numbers and probably will get another boost from the convention.

by Anonymousreply 110August 18, 2024 8:34 PM

Thank you, R105!

by Anonymousreply 111August 18, 2024 8:38 PM

I have long said the U.S. should emulate other countries and drastically curtail our primary season. I am sick to death of presidential politicking starting two years or more before the election.

by Anonymousreply 112August 18, 2024 8:39 PM

Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina also need to be nixed as the first primaries. Those states make zero difference in the general election and entirely too much time and money is wasted on campaigning there b

I really hope they can get a black female historic figure to perform at the inauguration. Someone who has been through the struggle and can really pass the mantle. I love Beyonce, but enough already.

Aretha was always the go to person for these kinds of things. Since she is no longer here, they should aim for Dionne Warwick or Diana Ross.

I like Queen Latifah.

She's not "historical," but she has a good story to tell, being a black lesbian rapper/actress.

Plus, she's a good singer too.

Her performance of "I Know Where I've Been" from the movie Hairspray, would be perfect for the occasion.

I thought Queen Latifah would have been a good fit to introduce Kamala at the convention.

Beyonce always had the primo spot with the Obama's. We could get someone else for Kamala.

by Anonymousreply 123August 18, 2024 9:17 PM

Oh, you can count on protests. They are mobilizing and ready to go. Tis is a Roger Stone special. YOu get peaceful demonstrators and you send in your paid instigators to agitate violence, and even commit acts of violence. He wants Chicago to be 1968. We want 2008.

by Anonymousreply 124August 18, 2024 9:17 PM

A bunch of cops in downtown Chicago and some big streets are closed. The city needs to raise the bridges to keep the protesters in check. Lori Lightfoot knew how to deal w them goons.

by Anonymousreply 126August 18, 2024 9:34 PM

That was such an incredible and SUBDUED performance by Queen Latifah at R121.

And she has the maturity not to SCREECH and SCREAM like Beyonce and many other young female singers.

And she doesn't have white man sperm donor babies like Mindy Kaling.

Yes, yes, former popular Presidents and a wannabe. One was impeached; one lost. The third promoted the loser in 2016 over his VP and the current incumbent, who would at that time NOT HAVE BEEN TOO OLD and who might very well have won twice.

Nope, nope, and nope. The FUTURE should have been the focus, with Newsom, Shapiro, etc.

I've been saying this for the past few weeks. Stepping into the election just four weeks ago worked out the best for her. No 'campaign fatigue' from her and Walz, not campaign fatigue for potential voters - she's a breath of fresh air, energetic and on her game. She and her team has taken advantage of this wonderful situation. The GOP, on the other hand, well...

I hope this is the way of the future Presidential campaigns. We really don't need a 15 month roll out. 15 weeks is perfect.

I really agree, but the unique circumstances that led up to her nomination probably call for a show of unity among the older politicians involved, and having them all speak at the convention is a passing the torch together crescendo through the week. I'm so tired of celebrities in politics: if they want to help fundraise and promote candidates on social media, great--but once they start writing op eds and showing up on the stage at conventions, not great. Oh well, at least Clooney and Drew Barrymore aren't speaking ... are they?

by Anonymousreply 183August 19, 2024 4:12 PM

That's because there was a huge movement there r182, including within the Democratic Party. It was a real party split. This is just a sad attempt by fringe groups to recapture that spirit of 1968. I don't particularly mind that people want to protest the DNC, but I also don't much care about the opinions of dimwits who can't quite bring themselves to condemn Hamas.

by Anonymousreply 184August 19, 2024 4:15 PM

[quote Palestinians have nothing to do with America and they’re barbarians who want you dead.

I'm a Native American, an enrolled member of my tribe.

That rhetoric is the same thing that was said about the Indigenous people of North and South America to justify exterminating us.

Will all my heart, I condemn the atrocities perpetrated by Hamas on October 7th. With all my heart I wish the Palestinians, and every other self-declared state enemy of Israel, would recognize the existence of Israel and that they would both co-exist in peace.

I see Netanyahu and some willing soldiers of the IDF exterminating a segment of the Palestinian people, including children.

Note I didn't say "I see the Jewish People" or "Israel" doing that. Not because I'm trying to be careful; hiding a bad faith heart.

I don't say that because I know many, many Israelis and Jews are sickened by what Netanyahu is doing and want him to stop.

But your rhetoric I quoted is terrible and wrong. I don't believe Palestinians want me dead, and your attempt to smear all of them isn't persuasive to me.

He's had Parkinson for 10 years and is 82. He looks great considering

by Anonymousreply 233August 19, 2024 11:23 PM

[quote] Right now Auntie Maxine Waters is speaking. I love her! Love that wig, too!

She just turned 86 a few days ago. I love her - she reminds me of 'Mother Jefferson'. I was waiting for her to yell "Louise!" from the podium.

by Anonymousreply 234August 19, 2024 11:24 PM

Oooops!

expiring- inspiring

by Anonymousreply 235August 19, 2024 11:24 PM

See I remember 1984 and 1988 and Jesse was a divisive force and he was all about himself. Shameless self promoter. He was always an opportunistic asshole. As for wheeling him on, why didn't they just show him on the big screen off stage and he could have waved and smiled. I've never been a Jesse fan.

by Anonymousreply 236August 19, 2024 11:25 PM

Can I have an hour alone with sexy Malcolm Kenyata, please ?

by Anonymousreply 237August 19, 2024 11:26 PM

C-Span rules.

I'm cutting back between it, MSNBC and CNN.

by Anonymousreply 238August 19, 2024 11:28 PM

Sheetz was hit with a lawsuit by the Biden Administration. ooops!

by Anonymousreply 240August 19, 2024 11:34 PM

R239 Harris once bought snacks at a convenience store ? How in the world did this miss the national headlines ? This should change the course of the Presidential election...

by Anonymousreply 241August 19, 2024 11:36 PM

I keep thinking the audience should put on the fake Groucho Marx 'black rimmed glasses and nose' every time Peggy Flanagan steps up to the podium. She'll feel like one of the crowd.

by Anonymousreply 242August 19, 2024 11:40 PM

Peggy Flanagn should have a nose job as teenager.

by Anonymousreply 243August 19, 2024 11:55 PM

Lawrence O'Donnell looks very pale on TV tonight. It's either bad lighting, too much powder puffed on his face, or both.

by Anonymousreply 244August 20, 2024 12:01 AM

Ha! They missed Jack Schlosberg. Thought of you DL

by Anonymousreply 245August 20, 2024 12:04 AM

where was Jack???

by Anonymousreply 246August 20, 2024 12:10 AM

LOL, R234, I can see that comparison also.

by Anonymousreply 247August 20, 2024 12:15 AM

Sheldon Whitehouse has been my Senator for decades. A real no-nonsense guy: what you see is what you get. I'm glad MSNBC features him at important times such as these.

by Anonymousreply 248August 20, 2024 12:15 AM

Wonder if Guv Shapiro got a few BJ offers in the men's room before he joined Joy Ann Reid ? You know the young gaylings in at the convention are propositioning him.

As a side note, Shapiro would have made just as great a candidate as Walz for VP. He knows how to talk to Americans. I hope he considers a run in 8 years.

by Anonymousreply 249August 20, 2024 12:18 AM

Mickey Guyton is beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 250August 20, 2024 12:23 AM

Who's the Beyonce wannabe on stage singing in the background that MSNBC is rightfully ignoring ?

by Anonymousreply 251August 20, 2024 12:24 AM

Damn! That song was so good. So much better and more inspiring than that Lee Greenwood dirge.

by Anonymousreply 252August 20, 2024 12:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 268August 20, 2024 12:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 269August 20, 2024 12:46 AM

it feels to me like they were very conscious of swing voters and trump supporters who are questioning watching tonight -they're doing a good job at deprogramming his lies without making the whole convention about that

by Anonymousreply 270August 20, 2024 12:50 AM

She lined up very wealthy donors on her side, ready for a run in 2028.

Now everything changed a month ago - I'm not certain if she has a future with Harris' administration.

So if chants of "USA! USA!" bother you, que lastima, pobrecitos, as my Spanish teacher used to say.

But we Democrats are taking back our country, our flag, our anthem, and our national pride from the Trumpian Fascists.

by Anonymousreply 388August 20, 2024 1:55 AM

Hillary looks beautiful - younger. But I wish she wore a more flattering color -that cream suit does nothing with her complexion and her hair. She needed something a little more vibrant.

They need to stop inviting her to shit. I like her a lot, I think she’s super charismatic and funny when she’s not “on” in some official capacity. But she’s immensely unpopular. She lost eight years ago, her husband is pretty toxic now, she is the past.

by Anonymousreply 478August 20, 2024 2:31 AM

No, r425, you misunderstand me.

Since Reagan, Republicans have behaved as though our flag belongs ONLY to them (Admit it: When you see a flag outside a house, you figure the inhabitants are pro-Trump).

Republicans chant "USA! USA!" with a xenophobic arrogance, not a genuine pride in our founding principles.

Republicans demand the national anthem be played and stood for, no matter the Republican attempt at insurrection.

That all is to say, if you haven't noticed that our national symbols (not to mention we Democrats allegedly don't want you to say "Merry Christmas!") have been hijacked by the un-American Right-Wing, you haven't been paying attention.

That we have had a Democratic President for the last four years is a reasonable riposte, except that Joe has had other priorities, not least of which immediately were Covid and Afghanistan.

But somehow Kamala and Coach Walz have lit a spark of promise that includes not only the solid achievements people seek, but also the national symbols to which people respond.

So to all Republicans I say: "USA! USA!" 😈🗽

I see Kamala sitting there. And I think Trump was at his convention a few times.

So this might just be some weird thing I invented in my head, but wasn't it a thing at one point that the nominee never appeared at the convention until the day they were officially nominated? For some reason, I remember reading about JFK kind of running things from his hotel room in 1960, but not actually setting foot on the convention hall until the last day. Or did I just invent a whole tradition that never existed?

The audience reaction shots have been weird tonight. A lot of unenthusiastic white guys in the crowd.

by Anonymousreply 555August 20, 2024 3:05 AM

Kamala's tan suit is totally trolling the Republicans.

[quote]I see Kamala sitting there. And I think Trump was at his convention a few times.

It's refreshing to see Kamala and her husband sitting next to Walz and his wife. All four joyful and engaging.

Trump sat (miserably) next to JD Vance (sometimes his wife was there, sometimes not). Trump went stage - Melania did NOT show up at all, except the fourth night, during Trump's rambling speech. She showed up late, and looked angry. Last place she wanted to be was there - listening to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 558August 20, 2024 3:06 AM

It’s only 10 pm in Chicago—Biden is still awake, hopefully.

I’m going to bed here in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 559August 20, 2024 3:06 AM

R544, But McGovern was the nominee. Joe is not.

by Anonymousreply 560August 20, 2024 3:06 AM

Hope Walz's dress looks like it was made out of curtains.

by Anonymousreply 561August 20, 2024 3:06 AM

Everybody wants to be a star. It's how we live these days.

by Anonymousreply 562August 20, 2024 3:07 AM

And that was an early Friday not a late Monday. Apples & oranges.

by Anonymousreply 563August 20, 2024 3:08 AM

R525 Who's that cutie guy in your link ?

by Anonymousreply 564August 20, 2024 3:08 AM

In the future, everyone will speak for fifteen minutes at the Democratic convention.

by Anonymousreply 565August 20, 2024 3:09 AM

What happened to Hillary Clinton’s neck?

by Anonymousreply 566August 20, 2024 3:09 AM

true, r560, but still, it's looking a little crowded and badly planned. maybe let some of the songs and speakers go later, after Joe, or maybe even tomorrow. Oh well, I'll try to stay up for it.

by Anonymousreply 567August 20, 2024 3:09 AM

My late father had Parkinsons and seeing Jesse Jackson hit me. Never disliked him, never as much as liked him either, but seeing him like that. The poor guy has a rough road ahead.

by Anonymousreply 570August 20, 2024 3:11 AM

Folks....this is planned to make sure Joe speaks as late as possible, so as few people as possible are watching.

That way, if he fucks up, the impact is muted.

by Anonymousreply 571August 20, 2024 3:12 AM

If true, that would be an unwise strategy in the age of youtube r571.

by Anonymousreply 572August 20, 2024 3:14 AM

R516- you're watching the RNC - stop watching Fox!

by Anonymousreply 573August 20, 2024 3:14 AM

All this talk about Beshar's underwear. Since I've been with him intimately, I'll set the record straight - he freeballs. And what a pair of delicious low-hangers he has, framing his beautiful horsecock surrounded by a nice bush.

OK ? Now you have the visual. Let's move on.

by Anonymousreply 574August 20, 2024 3:14 AM

Jill's dress looks like an 80s monstrosity.

by Anonymousreply 575August 20, 2024 3:14 AM

That dress?!

by Anonymousreply 576August 20, 2024 3:15 AM

Jill looks great.

by Anonymousreply 577August 20, 2024 3:15 AM

Joe Biden married up. He's lucky Jill took him on.

by Anonymousreply 578August 20, 2024 3:15 AM

Nuff-said…

R575, I thought she was channelling her inner Linda Evans.

by Anonymousreply 581August 20, 2024 3:16 AM

She looks like the mother of a Solid Gold dancer.

by Anonymousreply 582August 20, 2024 3:16 AM

LOL @ R569.

by Anonymousreply 583August 20, 2024 3:16 AM

Duke? Don’t!

by Anonymousreply 584August 20, 2024 3:17 AM

I'll guess she's wearing Ralph Lauren.

by Anonymousreply 585August 20, 2024 3:17 AM

Jill Biden needs to wear a bra.

by Anonymousreply 586August 20, 2024 3:17 AM

R582: Does that mean Biden will wear a Nehru jacket??

by Anonymousreply 587August 20, 2024 3:17 AM

Walz is adorable.

by Anonymousreply 588August 20, 2024 3:17 AM

Someone wznt to start a Part 2 before Joe comes out?

by Anonymousreply 589August 20, 2024 3:18 AM

I want Walz to wear his glasses again.

by Anonymousreply 590August 20, 2024 3:18 AM

Girl knows how to keep it tight. Good for her.

by Anonymousreply 591August 20, 2024 3:18 AM

Was that Gavin Newsom?

by Anonymousreply 592August 20, 2024 3:18 AM

Gwen Walz seemed unhappy holding up the Jill sign.

by Anonymousreply 593August 20, 2024 3:18 AM

That's what Joe says.

by Anonymousreply 594August 20, 2024 3:19 AM

Gavin!!!

by Anonymousreply 595August 20, 2024 3:19 AM

Jill looked hot you skanks!

by Anonymousreply 596August 20, 2024 3:19 AM

Yes, saw Gavin. I bet he's ready to party after this.

by Anonymousreply 597August 20, 2024 3:19 AM

Who starts new thread? Not me.

by Anonymousreply 598August 20, 2024 3:19 AM

Looks like they cut James Taylor.

by Anonymousreply 599August 20, 2024 3:19 AM

Was that Newsom?

by Anonymousreply 600August 20, 2024 3:19 AM

[quote]r581 = I thought she was channelling her inner Linda Evans.

She'd need bigger shoulder pads.

by Anonymousreply 601August 20, 2024 3:20 AM

I got a little choked up watching Walz getting choked up by Dr Jill’s words.

by Anonymousreply 602August 20, 2024 3:20 AM

Watch the vile MAGAts try to make it "weird" when Joe comes out and kisses Ashley at the podium.

by Anonymousreply 603August 20, 2024 3:20 AM

Yayyyyy!

by Anonymousreply 604August 20, 2024 3:21 AM

Bajour!

by Anonymousreply 605August 20, 2024 3:21 AM

That dress which Jill wore is the 'new style' which is in this year - you've seen it at all the Award shows this year. Sunny Hostin has worn it a few times this past season on 'The View' - I believe she wore it in white once and red another time.

It's hideous - looks like pleather.

by Anonymousreply 606August 20, 2024 3:21 AM

I guess Muriel's gone to bed....

by Anonymousreply 607August 20, 2024 3:22 AM

[quote]Gwen Walz seemed unhappy holding up the Jill sign.

The camera's caught her looking less-than-enthusiastic a few times. Maybe she has resting bitch face; she needs to work on that now that she's going to be in the public eye more often.

by Anonymousreply 608August 20, 2024 3:23 AM

Is Ashley the one who wrote in her diary that she and her dad took showers together up until she was 8 ? (Not that I believe it - but that's the rumors being spread).

Anyhow, I like her - she's a great speaker. She has a future in politics like her dad. She's very attractive, but I wish she'd lose the long mane of hair over the left tit. I'm tired of every woman wearing their hair like that.

by Anonymousreply 609August 20, 2024 3:24 AM

Will Hunter Biden's dick attend, attached to Hunter ? Is Hunter going to speak this week ?

by Anonymousreply 610August 20, 2024 3:25 AM

JOE!

by Anonymousreply 611August 20, 2024 3:26 AM

Here's Part 2 of the thread...

by Anonymousreply 612August 20, 2024 3:28 AM

r609 Yes, Ashley's the one who had her diary stolen from her and pages published online. She does mention being molested as a child, but she never said her father did it.

by Anonymousreply 613August 20, 2024 3:30 AM

When is Kamala going to explain her participation in hiding Bidens decline? Is that why she isn't doing any press conferences? Or does Kammy just not want to talk about children getting sex change operations?
