I'm assuming a film for the time being, but it really could be theatre or television for all we know. Jeremy O'Harris seems to know Rachel, for what it's worth.

Maybe Kit has been clean-shaven for audition purposes, or maybe the project already began production in London and Rachel will be joining soon. The Cuban Girl author said something about the movie adding scenes that weren't in the book, as most adaptations do, but I doubt anything too heavy. You just have to look at Heartstopper's intimacy coordinator to know that nowadays they're hired even when the material is fairly tame like it was in S1, and that their work will vary from series to series. There's that interview Thackeray did comparing his work on Heartstopper to his work on Sex Education.

I did read the book too but I don't remember much of it because I found it boring, even for a book aimed at teen girls. I can't remember, but I think it took them forever to even kiss but I'm not going to subject myself to reading it again. I'll wait and hope the movie gives us more.

Kit's coming to NY eventually, which could mean another round of American press. Think about how S2 didn't come out until August, but they did their American press in early June while heavily implying that they'd already watched the season themselves. They couldn't for S2, but might be able to do another cast/crew premiere again.

The main thing we were missing for S2 was ironically more UK-centric press, so we might get US and UK press this time. This isn’t even mentioning that Joe will additionally have some buzz because of Agatha. Kit's release dates are more up in the air but his projects might have buzz too. As far as distance from Charlie goes, I read it more like Joe appreciating a variety of character arcs beyond queerness as the main subject (while acknowledging that queerness as the main subject is still an immense privilege to play). S3 will give him more variety through the focus on Charlie's mental health. Kit may very well feel the same now that Nick's arc is moving away from coming out and more towards university angst and the worry that he's not independently confident enough.

+ Joe has said a few times that he likes playing an angstier Charlie, including family angst, which we'll get in S3. He doesn't go in-depth about it in this interview but it still makes me laugh. They were so giggly and wired.

Forgot to add, it must be a departure for him to play Charlie having such a tense and fraught relationship with his mum. I wouldn't be surprised if that comes up since he seems comfortable talking about his own relationship with his mum being very supportive and strong.

I think some disconnect comes from talking about the characters/actors as if they're the same from S1, but S3 should change that perception if S2 didn't fully change it. S2 changed it to an extent (e.g. lots of talk about Joe and Kit's chemistry evolving), but if we get four seasons, the show will probably have a clear tonal shift from S1/S2 to S3/S4.
