My choices were retail.

Martha Stewart produced the best bath towels at the very beginning of her relationship with Kmart. They lasted a decade without fraying or leaving excessive lint behind in your dryer.

Before, it was Ralph Lauren. Those were awesome and then they descended into DKNY quality.

Linoto makes awesome linen towels, but I prefer cotton. My current sets are discount. They work.

These are both quick-drying and fantastically soft, but only buy white - as with many current towels, dyes aren't colorfast in today's HE washers.

R1 That's what I've done. I really like the Threshold towels I bought there a few months ago.

Other than that I've found good deals on great towels at Home Goods. Inventory changes.

Bath towels have a life span of two years? That's a new one to me. Are you people beating them with rocks? I have solid colored towels that are a decade old or older and are still soft and absorbent. I never use fabric softener either, which is key.

These are my favorite, OP. They get close to your limit, but they always have sales. I got mine as a promotion because I bought a sheet set and duvet.

All clothes and linens last longer if you don't overdry them. Most of my clothes go into the dryer just until the wrinkles fall off from the heat, then get dried on the line. Most of the year I never dry sheets because I like the feeling of fresh stiff linen or cotton sheets.

I'm not too picky. I prefer thin towels that don't grow moldy and scratchy washcloths that scrub dead skin off.
