Euros had a similar soundbite about how Heartstopper's take on representation doesn't have to be mirrored by every piece of queer media. Variety is the goal. Whatever some fans may say about Heartstopper being the only good and pure and wholesome queer media on the planet, they're distancing themselves from that to an extent. They're proud of their work without pretending it's the only type that can exist.

I still don't expect Alice will ever come out and outright declare top/bottom dynamics, but they definitely gave enough for people to draw their own conclusions. We'll have to see how that looks in S3. And it's possible Joe and Kit were allowed to give their own input with the intimacy coordinator.

There weren't many Charlie & Elle friendship moments in S2 compared to S1, but Yaz did her part to get it across in reaction shots.

Gaining confidence is definitely an understandable character arc for her, but there were points in S2 that I felt they were borrowing more from Yaz's confidence and success as a model/fashionista. These weren't character traits invented by Yaz since Elle designs clothes in the comics on top of being an artist, but I found myself struggling a bit to separate the two characters. A lot of them have overlap with their characters, so she's not alone; but it might not help that she's mostly acting against Will, who really disappears into Tao.

Kit's an example of people (affectionately) mocking that it's unbelievable that Nick physically changed so much in so little time, but he's given enough material for his acting to separate Nick from Kit. Even Nick and Charlie getting more handsy and heated with their kissing has some set-up in the S1 finale with the corridor and photobooth kisses. You can believe a switch was flipped for Nick and Charlie going into S2, and that it's not just Joe and Kit becoming extra confident/comfortable with each other.
