the pain...when will it end...
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 7, 2023 12:41 AM |
the end is near.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 7, 2023 12:42 AM |
I hope they give Chits a cameo as Spiderwomans mother or something.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 7, 2023 12:42 AM |
Put a fatwa on her undertalented behind.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 7, 2023 12:43 AM |
It’s a musical.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 7, 2023 12:45 AM |
She’s starting to look elderly. I don’t care how much makeup you wear and how you do your hair. When you looking like a Pueto Rican grandma, nothing can hide that.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 7, 2023 12:45 AM |
Not a superhero film.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 7, 2023 12:46 AM |
[quote] The creatives behind the project are currently on the hunt for an unknown to play the leading role of Molina. According to a casting breakdown the role “presents as an openly queer and effeminate gay man, but may be on the non-binary/trans femme spectrum.”
What a fucking insult.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 7, 2023 12:47 AM |
Wow, and she won’t even have to pretend, or put on a costume or makeup.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 7, 2023 12:47 AM |
[quote] the non-binary/trans femme spectrum.
must we constantly acknowledge stupidity?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 7, 2023 12:49 AM |
Let me guess: co-starring Pedro Pascal
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 7, 2023 12:51 AM |
There already was a film adaptation of the musical. 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 7, 2023 12:58 AM |
I remember (and enjoyed) the 1985 film starring Sonia Braga and the late William Hurt and Raul Julia, and wonder if it will work as a musical.
I still have my copy of the novel, signed "To [my name] big Kiss to you, Sonia Braga" and she sealed it with a lipsticked kiss to the page. I adored her back then, following her intro to American foreign filmgoers in "Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands."
Good luck, JLo; you're no Sonia Braga.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 7, 2023 12:59 AM |
Well now there can be a new one.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 7, 2023 12:59 AM |
The 1985 movie is terrible and not the 1993 musical Broadway show
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 7, 2023 1:01 AM |
Huh, r16? When was that? Are you high?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 7, 2023 1:01 AM |
He was gay originally. They wanna make him trans?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 7, 2023 1:02 AM |
R20
See r17.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 7, 2023 1:03 AM |
She will never retire.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 7, 2023 1:04 AM |
R22 yeah, you’re a retard. The 1985 movie was not a musical nor based off the 1993 Broadway show. How can something from 1985 be based on something from 1993?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 7, 2023 1:04 AM |
Vanessa Williams replaced Chita on broadway and was great.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 7, 2023 1:08 AM |
Vanessa Williams actually had a fairly decent voice.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 7, 2023 1:09 AM |
Someone on here must have not known Vanessa Williams was a successful singer… we know she has a “decent” voice.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 7, 2023 1:12 AM |
[quote] you're no Sonia Braga.
I watched the show with Chita. She’s no Chita either.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 7, 2023 1:13 AM |
JLo is *also* a "successful" singer.
And she does NOT have a decent voice, r27
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 7, 2023 1:17 AM |
I'd beg her to stop acting but can you really call what she does, acting?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 7, 2023 1:33 AM |
Might be a hit with the lowbrows.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 7, 2023 1:44 AM |
R31, might it be a hit in the regions?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 7, 2023 1:46 AM |
Maybe it will be good.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 7, 2023 1:52 AM |
With the hoi polloi. The folks and fans who think JLo's one talented sexy broad.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 7, 2023 1:56 AM |
she’s beginning to remind me of joan crawford
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 7, 2023 3:10 AM |
I saw Vanessa Williams in the role on Broadway. She was outstanding.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 7, 2023 3:24 AM |
Ben Affleck IS Valentin!
Matt Damon IS Molina!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 7, 2023 3:25 AM |
[quote]I saw Vanessa Williams in the role on Broadway. She was outstanding.
I saw Carol Lawrence.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 7, 2023 3:40 AM |
Sonia Braga, Bill Hurt and Raul Julia were outstanding in the 80's version but it wasn't a musical.
The later musical was wonderful but as a vehicle for JLo, which is the only way she'd play it, it's going to suck. She's not a singer nor is she much of an actress.
Pedro Pascal is a good casting choice. So are Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal but they're not Raul Julia. Besides, I don't know if any of them can sing a note which means that they probably can't.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 7, 2023 5:50 AM |
Will she battle the Skrulls or...Venom???
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 7, 2023 9:42 AM |
If this is already deee pre-production with J Lo as the lead to begin filming in February, then certainly one or both of the “men” have been cast or final talks. Pedro Pascal perhaps but it could be big star and a no name. Since it seems this is happening with Bill Condon directing and John Kander still alive this is all vetted. No doubt that Lin-Manuel will play a part for any new material, especially since he and Kander just did NY, NY on Broadway this year and Kander is in his 90s.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 7, 2023 9:56 AM |
Who should they cast as the leads as to not make J.Lo stick out like a sore talent-free thumb? Harry Styles? Ansel Engabort?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 7, 2023 2:04 PM |
Will she be playing the Jessica Drew or Julia Carpenter version?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 7, 2023 2:53 PM |
It’ll work. Chita had a personality voice & I love her (actually my husband does) but she was no belter in Kiss of.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 7, 2023 3:16 PM |
R39 Gael Garcia Bernal can sing. Well, in fact. Still, I wouldn't subject him to starring with J. Lo.
This film doesn't need a remake. Sigh.
Oh well, at least they got the spider woman part right. Is Ben the spider?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 7, 2023 3:20 PM |
Sick of her. What about you, Ben?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 7, 2023 3:30 PM |
I watched the 1985 film a few months ago. Hurt's performance was uneven. In some scenes he came off like a straight guy trying to play gay and other times he was more convincing. Julia was terrific.
The late Brent Carver who first played Molina in the musical was much better than Hurt IMO. Bit then he was a gay man, though I don’t think he was ever really "out."
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 7, 2023 6:10 PM |
I believe Ariana DeBose would have been a much better casting choice for "Kiss of the Spider Woman."
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 7, 2023 6:18 PM |
R45 this isn’t a remake of the movie
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 7, 2023 6:28 PM |
She's gonna play an effeminate Gay Man? Has anyone told her?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 7, 2023 6:38 PM |
No r50. She’s the female character. Theyre looking for an unknown for the gay man and are considering changing them from a gay man to a trans person.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 7, 2023 7:38 PM |
This is terrible news
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 7, 2023 7:39 PM |
Who played the trans role in the film and Broadway adaptations?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 7, 2023 8:09 PM |
IT WAS A GAY MAN r53
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 7, 2023 8:13 PM |
The role is played as a very effeminate gay man. Lots of flowing robes and floral prints. It's not much of a stretch to play Molina as Trans. I don't think it needs to be changed but then I don't think it needs to be re-made with JLo either.
Lin Manuel is a good call for Valentin, Condon will probably use him.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 8, 2023 3:48 AM |
If JLo is cast who will sing?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 8, 2023 4:11 AM |
Certainly not you dear R56, as you haven't been able to hit a solid note in over a decade. But keep clutching your ear piece and waiving your hand around. It might distract the audience enough from your painfully bad lip syncing (and fat body).
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 8, 2023 5:21 AM |
I’m sure she will find a way to work this into the movie, it’s her only talent
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 8, 2023 7:32 AM |
I know people ooohed and aaahed over her body in Hustlers but I think the near nudity highlighted how skinny her calves are. She's kind of shaped like a turkey.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 8, 2023 4:55 PM |
R59 oh please. She looked amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 13, 2023 12:39 AM |
She can't sing, she's not much of a dancer and not much of an actress. The one thing she does have is that she's gorgeous. There are plenty of reasons to criticize her "entertainment skills" but her attractiveness is not in question.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 14, 2023 10:33 PM |
[quote]Put a fatwa on her undertalented behind.
Lord knows there's room.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 14, 2023 10:34 PM |
The property is hardly beloved. Who cares. The character's main lure is her beauty. They can always sweeten her vocals and dub her feet.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 14, 2023 10:40 PM |
This will suck in so many ways. The musical numbers are all fantasy sequences.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 14, 2023 11:13 PM |
J Loads can sing?
There's a revelation for anyone with ears.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 14, 2023 11:20 PM |
Only her numbers, r64.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 14, 2023 11:21 PM |
She can't sing, she can barely act, and she's never shown her tits on screen. What the fuck?!
by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 20, 2024 7:42 PM |
Terrence McNally and Chita Rivera must be spinning in their respective graves.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 20, 2024 7:46 PM |
R69 she’s shown her tits on screen before she hit it big. Once you hit it big you have more say.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 20, 2024 7:55 PM |
Who are the male leads, ffs?
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 20, 2024 7:57 PM |
Guillermo Rodriguez and Mango, R72
by Anonymous | reply 73 | March 20, 2024 8:03 PM |
If this is done right and she actually pulls it off, she could finally get the Oscar nod she wants so badly.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 20, 2024 8:04 PM |
Great she is talented
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 20, 2024 8:06 PM |
MANGO!
by Anonymous | reply 76 | March 20, 2024 8:07 PM |
Isn't the spider woman basically a supporting and not really an Oscar-bait role?
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 20, 2024 8:21 PM |
R71, She showed her tits in The Boy Next Door in 2015.
Well not full on but they’re held by Ryan Guzman.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 20, 2024 11:06 PM |
She didn’t show them then r80. They were covered by his hands.
She showed her tits in 1995’s Money Train and 1997’s U-Turn.
Not that she had to if she didn’t want to. Why someone on here is criticizing her for “not showing her tits” is strange.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 20, 2024 11:08 PM |
In DL parlance: ‘Who greenlit this?’ Aurora needs to be alluring and dangerous and playful, not just overtly sexy. Only straight men find Jennifer Lopez sexy, and they’re not going to be interested in seeing this.
Bill Condon hasn’t directed a decent film since Gods and Monsters. I’m puzzled why he and Rob Marshall have been entrusted with the modern movie musical.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 20, 2024 11:23 PM |
Her wig line is showing!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 20, 2024 11:29 PM |
She’s not a believable actress.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 20, 2024 11:30 PM |
What uninspired casting.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | March 20, 2024 11:59 PM |
The only movie I ever really liked of hers is the one she did with Clooney for Soderbergh. Crime caper thing. I forget the name, it was good and both JLo and Clooney were good in it. Actually, everyone was good in that movie.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | March 22, 2024 12:31 AM |
It's called OUT OF SIGHT, R87 and I agree with you.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 22, 2024 6:08 PM |
The fact that NONE of the supporting cast has been announced either means big names or nobodies; it seems it’s come down to the final moment for the two guys to sign on. I predict a no-name for Molina and a name for Valentin. Who knows?
by Anonymous | reply 89 | March 22, 2024 6:14 PM |
Billy Porter IS Molina!
by Anonymous | reply 90 | March 22, 2024 10:12 PM |
Thanks R88, I have a memory like a steel sieve these days. Really good supporting cast in that film along with Clooney and JLo both giving good performances.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | April 6, 2024 7:14 AM |
Nobody likes J Lo 😂
