Nations should call for immediate cease fire in the region and impose sanctions if they fight. On whoever fights. Bring them to the table, negotiate a two state agreement, and seek peace.

If they don't want to do that, who can help them? No one. You can't work with people who think annihilation of the enemy is the only way.

Israeli embassy staffer knifed in China.

Harrowing video appears to catch the moment a staffer at the Israeli Embassy in Beijing was stabbed on a sidewalk — on the day that Hamas’ former leader called on all members of Islam to wage a “day of Jihad.”

The Israeli Embassy staffer, who has not been identified, is seen being stabbed repeatedly by the male assailant Friday after a brief struggle as he lies on a sidewalk, according to the South China Morning Post.

The victim manages to get away and the attacker limps off after the brutal incident as passersby look on. A trail of blood is left behind.

“The employee was transferred to hospital and he is in a stable condition,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement, without giving additional details.

I remember Syrian activists begging Palestinian Liberation orgs to rally with them against Assad - over 4000 Syrian Palestinians were killed by Assad and many more disappeared. They either said nothing or supported Assad because is backed by Iran and Russia. It was and is absolutely repulsive and while I believe in safety and liberation for Palestinians in Gaza/West bank I’m no longer naïve among the motivations of some in the movement.

This speculation from the previous thread is incorrect. First of all, that's a complete waste of ammunition; Israel's stocks are vast but not infinite. Also, IDF will launch urban warfare in the evacuated Gaza and you can't do that if there's rubble everywhere.

The UN proposed its partition plan. Two states, Israel and Palestine. Zionists said yes, Arabs no. If you google 1947 borders you will immediately see how ridiculous the borders are, but it was a great start for Israel, since Zionists were the minority. The Arabs declared war. Unfortunately they had no military hardware to speak of, or trained soldiers. Many Arabs were aghast they were going to war, knowing it was hopeless.

It was hopeless. Israel gained territory as a result, but the biggest change to Israel's frontiers came in 1967, when the conflict known as the Six Day War left Israel in occupation of the Sinai peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, East Jerusalem and most of the Syrian Golan Heights - effectively tripling the size of territory under Israel's control. Israel effectively annexed East Jerusalem - claiming the whole of the city as its capital - and the Golan Heights.

Israel gave the sinai back to Egypt but still occupies the West Bank, Gaza, and most of the Golan Heights. UN resolution 242 declares it is illegal to acquire territory gained by war. Israel's plan in to cover the occupied West Bank in settlements, also illegal under international law, so they will be difficult to remove.

As far as the western powers involvement, for starters google AIPEC and see how much influence the lobby has in the U.S.

Is Chrestus Christ? What is really going on here? Who knows?

R54 I’ll concede if I’m wrong, but I think based on what the family have said (no mention of holocaust) that she lived through the holocaust and didn’t experience it directly, rather than escaped the holocaust (general term for holocaust survivor). The only articles that describe her as a holocaust survivor are that yahoo one and a timesofisrael one. Anyway I hope she makes it out alive, but it doesn’t look like Israel gaf about their own citizens that have been taken hostage and are gonna bomb them alongside Palestinians.

RALEIGH — Democrats in both chambers of the North Carolina General Assembly are facing backlash for failing to support a resolution and statement supporting Israel after the country suffered unprovoked and brutal attacks by Hamas on Oct. 7.

“It is unconscionable to me that Democrats have become so extreme that they walked out and refused to vote on a resolution condemning the slaughtering of children and raping of women,” said Paré. “Their shameful actions have sent a terrible message to not only the people of Israel, but all of America’s allies across the world.”

A Stanford University lecturer has been suspended for allegedly making Jewish students stand in a corner while branding them “colonizers” — while also downplaying the Holocaust and defending murderous Hamas terrorists as “freedom fighters.”

Students said the lecturer, who was not identified, opened two freshman classes Tuesday by saying the lesson would be on colonialism, the co-presidents of Stanford’s Israeli Student Association told the San Francisco Chronicle.

He then blamed the war raging between Israel and Hamas on “Zionists” — supporters of a movement for the protection of an independent Jewish state.

The lecturer also reportedly justified the slaughter of more than 1,300 Israelis by Hamas terrorists over the weekend, saying it was part of Palestinians’ resistance.

Hamas has 60% support in Gaza. It looks like 40% followed the evacuation order. Which implies that everyone left are either Hamas or their supporters. Very little collateral damage if the IDF just incinerates that habitrail network under Gaza City and bulldozes the rest.

Again, as stated in the prior thread, if the rural settlers had guns and weapons at the ready, in their HOMES, today's story would be of very few dead Israelis and a whole lot of dead terrorists. Can someone comment on gun control laws in Israel, and why these settlers - some living only a few miles from the Gaza border - weren't armed to the teeth?

And also why the IDF didn't have widespread outposts in south Israel, to help defend from such attacks.

Link in the next post (due to restrictions) about the one kibbutz - Nir Am- whose citizens were armed that morning. They suffered no causalities, and killed almost all of the Hamas invaders. A much better ending.

I am totally shocked that this happened on the scale it did, in a country where military service is mandatory for nearly every adult, which includes advanced weapons training. The average Israeli knows their way around weapons, they know how to aim and shoot. Yet - almost NONE of the vulnerable settlers had guns at the ready in their own homes!! The link at r73 states that weapons on kibbutzes were kept in a central, collective "armory" - what fu*king good did that do? Who has time to leisurely retrieve them, when under sneak attack?

Can you imagine if these rural developments were along the US-Mexico border? Every house would have a gun safe or a large weapons stash, and every adult and most teens would know how to use them at the slightest provocation. And that's with relatively friendly relations with Mexico! there isn't a terrorist threat there.

I am having a hard time, as an American, wrapping my mind around this.

What's so effing funny r79? There were hundreds of people brutally killed last week. There was one lone kibbutz that escaped death and destruction, and successfully killed all of their invaders. The one group that grabbed their weapons and took up positions.

And I also would like to know why the widely touted IDF had literally no outposts in the vulnerable south region. It took in some cases HOURS for the army to arrive, to help the attacked settlements.

“There were people from Gaza who worked in the kibbutz and they were a part of the community, they’d bring their children to the kindergarten in the kibbutz. When they couldn’t come to work there anymore, we began collecting money from the community and there is now a fund that keeps them alive,” said resident Michal Pinyan, adding that she is determined to keep sending the money to the family.

The kibbutz has its own volunteer emergency squad, about 15 people who are supposed to protect the community from danger until the army comes. With an army base just a few minutes away, everyone thought that the Israel Defense Forces would come any moment. But that did not happen.

I’d certainly turn in a relative of mine if they were a mass murderer or a serial killer or had kidnapped multiple people and were keeping them hostage. I don’t really understand the thinking of someone who wouldn’t. If that makes me nasty then nasty I’ll be.

People who “don’t count” in a culture often hear and see more than the people who do.

Not all Palestinians hate the US, and a woman who has turned on Hamas is going to be more concerned about not being killed by Hamas supporters than she is about any theoretical grudge against the US. But if it theoretical sexism you are worried about I could get behind asylum for men who provide material assistance in taking out Hamas.

These people have essentially been kidnapped and it is against the Geneva convention. I know that I will be downvoted for this, but we ought to remember that Israel's conservative cabal helped to create Hamas in order to undermine the Palestinian National Authority. This is a horrible tragedy that was originated by a corrupt government and the violent organization that it helped to create in order to destabilize the Palestinian political landscape, and that is why I must insist: both Israeli and Palestinian civilians are unnecessarily suffering due to the actions of immoral, greedy and sociopathic politicians who are at the service of the military branch of the corporatocracy that rules the world.

Just as we cannot claim that all Jewish people hate Palestinians and Muslims, we cannot claim that all Palestinians are bloodthirsty degenerates who dream of destroying Israel and murdering Jews - innocent people who had no part in Hamas' and Netanyahu's crumbling government's decisions, are suffering on both sides. Moreover, we are being driven towards a 3rd World War and this is being used to initiate it. Haven't we seen how horrible war is? Hasn't there been enough destruction? This article from Hebrew University of Jerusalem regarding an Arab-Israeli professor matches what I witnessed living in Israel and as a student at Hebrew University (I'm American, by the way). There was not a lot of social mixed even though the dorm floors were mixed. People would say hello and make small talk in the common kitchen, but Arabs tended to socialize with Arabs and Israeli Jews with other Israeli Jews and foreign students with other foreign students. There were 2 Druzes (Arabs, but Druze religion and generally pro-State) on our floor. One of them was a good friend of mine and was an officer in the Israeli army. He got along with everyone, but mostly dated Israeli (Jewish) girls and Americans. I lived in Jerusalem, but have visited Haifa many times. It's notoriously mixed as far as Arabs and Jews going to each others businesses (restaurants/stores). In Jerusalem, it's common for Jews to eat at Arab restaurants (particularly in the Old City), but Arabs tend to boycott Jewish businesses unless they have no choice. The idea that it's like South African apartheid is ridiculous unless apartheid was really not what I thought it was. I always thought it meant enforced segregation where mixing was not allowed. Non-whites not allowed in white universities or white hospitals and restaurants. Not allowed to vote either. Certainly this is far from the case in Israel from the personal observations of an American that lived and studied there for 3 years.

R117 OK, but in that case, wouldn't they be Jordanian citizens. They wouldn't vote in Israel. That land is still potentially negotiable. I realize that recent administrations have done things to make that ultimately more difficult, but Israel has uprooted settlements before and returned land in exchange for peace. No one could really expect Israel to make citizens of all of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza! The Jews may as well just pick up and leave as there would be no Jewish State. Literally the ENTIRE Middle East would be Muslim. If all the Muslims could get along (never gonna happen), they could form a single caliphate.

R115 as someone who has never been to Israel, I really appreciate hearing your perspective. I definitely feel that there is oppression of the Palestinians (but I am absolutely not coming anywhere near defending the violence toward innocents, I am in shock and horror still), however, your post creates a lot more context and nuance. Which means it makes my feelings about what Hamas did even bigger if that’s even possible. If what you describe is the real picture, there is *no* defense of what Hamas did, so those who keep defending should not, it’s wrong. In a time like this, I do wish our government would arrest pro-Palestinian protesters as I read that France is doing that. It makes me sick that people are cheering for this, they are completely misinformed, misguided, and actually perverted. The attack is for sure the worst thing I’ve ever witnessed, for sure up there with 9/11.

It is ok for someone to say that there is oppression, but clearly, the other half of the story is that Israel was given no choice. When you behave like an animal, you should not have privileges handed to you — and I’m a bleeding heart liberal. Clearly the average Israeli does not hold resentment toward Palestinians.

R115, when you think about cultural tensions on both sides, would you say you saw that tension? Was it more intense for Palestinians, or is this all strictly the culture of Hamas? Thank you for sharing your experiences.

R120 I think it's fare to say there was some tension. Particularly when there was any "activity" from either side near the border, but we were all university students living together and the tension was more of a feeling than anything else. I've been to the West Bank many times and Gaza only once. As an American that was just visiting those places, and didn't know anyone there, I don't feel that I can honestly give an opinion on how the people living there felt. Definitely at the university, there was no more hostility than there might be between Blacks and whites on a US campus. Never witnessed any aggression on either side. College is a little different there than in the US though. Israeli Jews, as well as all Israeli Druze and some of the Bedouin (both minority Arab groups) don't start university until after the army. Students are older, more mature and some are already married. They are there primarily to get a degrees rather than get political (at least when I was there). That doesn't mean there wasn't the occasional demonstration, but I never saw any violence at all.

It's such a complicated situation, and people on both sides only tell or know the story from their perspective. I have read on any number of forums over the years, Jews claiming that there were never very many Palestinians living in Israel, and that they weren't called by that name. Well, the Ottoman Turks did conduct censuses of that area when they controlled it, and, lo and behold the majority of people living there prior to WWII were non-Jews. Palestinians will claim that Jews were never in that region, but of course there are historical records of a Jewish presence, at least from Roman times and historians, even if the Bible as a document was not considered a reliable source.

Partitions were a thing in the late 40s and they rarely worked out well. I think 1,000,000 or so died when India was partitioned - at least that is the common figure cited. Generally, people who had lived in an area for generations didn't understand why they were going to be forced to leave, and that is a universal theme that also played out in Palestine.

Zionism in its original concept was not about an exclusive homeland for the Jews, but creating, through steady and increasing emigration from Europe to Palestine, a place where ultimately the majority of inhabitants would be Jewish, thus creating a safe haven from the various types of antisemitism prevalent in Europe. The concept was that Jews would buy land and property as they were made available until gradually they became the largest demographic of the region. As pogroms and persecutions in Europe increased, waves of settlers tried to settle in Palestine, but there weren't always jobs or land available to buy, so many ended up moving to the US and elsewhere.

After WWII and the horrors of the Holocaust, European powers decided to throw their weight behind a Jewish state in Palestine. There was no real input into this process from the non-Jewish residents of Palestine. There was a two or three year period of intensive and very bloody guerilla activity in the area by people like Moshe Dayan, trying to force all Palestinians to move out of the the lands envisioned for the new Jewish state.

As Arabs are related to one another by clan or tribe rather than by national boundaries, there was much opposition throughout the region by Arabs who felt that their kin were being forced to move unfairly. This resulted in a number of wars through the years by Arabs seeking to remove Jews from lands that they felt belonged to them. They lost all of these wars and as a result, Israel gained control of more and more territory. As I see it, the Arabs of the region never made any push to accept Palestinian Arabs as part of their newly created nations, partly because they always felt that those people belonged on their ancestral lands.

Many Jews feel that their nation is their land and even that the territories acquired after the 6-days war is also their land. Historically, Jews really only controlled the areas close to Jerusalem, except for brief expansions, during ancient times, but the British offered northern Israel as well, so they took it. The Palestinians are now in their 4th generation of feeling a lot of grievance and I'm not sure a two-state solution is viable at this point, because neither side will budge from their historical positions. Now there's tremendous amounts of anger and desperation on both sides, and it is very discouraging.

Two-thirds of Americans say the United States should publicly support Israel in the war between Israel and Hamas, according to the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll, but there are wide generational and racial divides on the question.

At this point, more Americans, but not a majority, think Israel's response has been appropriate

Overall, 65% said the U.S. should support Israel publicly. That was true of big majorities of both parties — 77% of Republicans and 69% of Democrats.

Notably, independents were less likely to believe this — 54% thought the U.S. should publicly support Israel, but a third said the U.S. shouldn't say or do anything.

But there are huge age and racial gaps — 78% of those 45 and older think the U.S. should take a publicly pro-Israel stance, but just 48% of those under 45 said so.

Just 48% of Gen Z/millennials said the U.S. should publicly voice support, as compared to 63% of Gen X, 83% of baby boomers and 86% of the Silent/Greatest generation.

Along racial lines, just 51% of nonwhites said the U.S. should take such a public stance supporting Israel, while 72% of whites thought it should.

At this point, more Americans say Israel's response has been about right — 44% said so.

About a quarter said, though, that it's been too much and roughly another quarter said it's been too little.

There's certainly no rally-'round-the-flag effect for Biden at this point.

Americans so far aren't impressed with how the president has handled himself during this war — despite his strong show of public support for Israel coming as two-thirds report saying they want a strong show of public U.S. support.

Biden has arguably taken a stronger pro-Israel stance than nearly any other U.S. president, yet 52% said they disapprove of Biden's handling of this conflict.

That said, Israel the nation was granted sovereignty and independence by the United Nations. European Jews had nowhere else to go, and didn't trust the governments of Europe anyway (you will recall that post-war Austria elected a real Nazi as President). But on Day 1, Israel was attacked by 5 Arab states, and it's been a struggle ever since.

Now, if today you were Israeli, would you want a de jure Palestinian State on your border, if a de facto one is going to attack and slay you?

We bombed Japanese civilians, deliberately and precisely, after dropping flyers urging evacuation. We demanded, and got, Unconditional Surrender and a ceasing of Emperor worship. We then occupied Japan militarily and forever forbade her building any armed forces that could attack as before. We conducted War Trials. But not about Hiroshima or Nagasaki; we called those deaths the means to avoid more of ours.

We are now the Leader of the Free World.

It would now be the height of arrogance and hypocrisy for the current US President and government to offer less than 100% support to Israel.

On NPR yesterday, they had interviewed an Palestinian woman who said she made it to the South only because she was one of the rare few that had a car. She mentioned it could be "tens of kilometers" for some people to walk, so some people chose to stay home.

Israel today announced it had killed two top Hamas commanders in a wave of airstrikes on the terror group.

Ali Qadi was arrested by Israel in 2005 for the kidnapping and murder of civilians before being released into the Gaza Strip as part of the 2011 Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange.

Israel's Air Force said he had led the 'Nukhba' commando force which gunned down Israeli civilians last Saturday. Officials revealed a black and white video of a massive explosion engulfing a Hamas base where he was said to be located.

Earlier today, the IDF confirmed it had also killed Murad Abu Murad, the leader of Hamas' air forces. They said he played a key part overseeing the attacks last Saturday which saw terrorists descend on civilian targets in Israel using hang gliders.

Confirming his death on Twitter, the Israeli Air Force said: 'During the last day, fighter jets of the Air Force attacked the operational headquarters of the terrorist organisation Hamas, from where the organisation's aerial activities were managed.

'During the attack, Murad Abu Murad, the head of the air formation in Gaza City who took a large part and directed terrorists in the murderous attack on Saturday, was killed.'

I hate all this so much - but Hamas blocking the evacuation that Israel asked for should help, when it comes to P.R. for Israel (beyond the recent attack, hostage taking, and apparent brutality).

I still think both sides have behaved abhorrently but this puts more blame on Hamas than on Israel, at least in my mind. And yes, they should have asked for the evacuation before 'any' attacks, but I heard they were giving at least some warnings (some of the time) before attacking residential buildings (which they had always done?)

The IDF has released the name of the Hamas leader they believe is responsible for last weekend's horrific and barbaric Hamas terrorist attack.

It is Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza. He was imprisoned in Israel for terrorism but released in 2011 with 1000 other prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit - an Israeli soldier.

Sinwar is now a dead man walking.

I think THIS TIME when the other Arab countries start their protesting, they really need to be called out repeatably and relentlessly until it's a real discussion to put their money where their mouth is and take in the million or more Palestinians they say they are so concerned about. It is often forgotten that the West Bank was once part of Jordan. Israel tried to give it back to them at one point, and the King declined because they didn't want the Palestinians. Their Arab counterparts don’t trust them so why should Israel?

The other Arab countries do not in actuality sympathize with the “Palestinian Plight” (if you will) or even want anything to do them, they just equally hate and want the annihilation of Israel. It’s kind of a 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ kind of deal.

Is anyone else increasingly unsure what Israel's plan is? Until today I assumed it was turn off the utilities and bomb the place to soften it up then send in the IDF to kill Hamas soldiers and anyone who fights back and cover yourself from any human rights resulting from the inevitable civilian casualty claims by saying "well we told them to leave the combat zone". They could have probably managed that until about the last 48 hours as the collective Western governments had agreed to look the other way

But there's still 600,000 people in Northern Gaza they're not going to get them all to leave willingly, Hamas still has who knows how many hostages alive, even the US is now urging the situation to calm down, and Netanyahu a man whose entire image (never mind only chance to cling to power) is dependent on him drop kicking the ever loving shit out of Hamas and Gaza keeps postponing the deadline. Last night because of flooding in Tel Aviv.

Fair enough if they don't want to waste the IDF in a brutal meatgrinder fight but after the last 9 days I don't see any military climbdown or negotiation for Israel that sends a strong enough message to its neighbours and satisfies angry Israelis at this point.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office told CNN Sunday Israel has restored water to southern Gaza, but the director of the Palestinian Water Authority said he could not be sure it was true, because electricity has not been restored.

“I cannot confirm this at the moment because our water stations in Khan Younis, Gaza City, and central Gaza are not in a condition to receive and distribute water to the people,” Munther Shublaq, the director of the Water Authority in Gaza, told CNN.

“To enable the stations to receive and distribute water, we need electricity, which is currently cut off. The alternative is fuel to power the generator, which we also do not have. There may be pressure to restore the water supply, but I cannot confirm anything until the stations are ready.”

US national security adviser Jake Sullivan shared the development with CNN earlier Sunday. “I can tell you this morning that I have been in touch with my Israeli counterparts just within the last hour who report to me that they have in fact turned the water pipe back on in Southern Gaza,” Sullivan told CNN.

I just accidentally watched a video of an ambulance filled with seriously injured people where bystanders knocked on their window and then handed a baby through the window who had been shot in the forehead to the front passenger seat medic. It showed them making their way to the hospital and it was horrifying. The medic cried all the way to the end of the video with the dead baby flopping around in his arms. It has really affected me. I'm not going to link it.

I just saw the Hamas terrorist body camera footage on the evening news R295. It also showed him going through houses and shooting into other houses. Disgusting. Very satisfying that someone shot him dead. It was more than he deserved. Every single Hamas terrorist needs to be be caught and dealt with however Israel see fit. I looked it up and Israel has the death penalty law (but not used since the 1940s) so any Hamas terrorists they don't kill in the ground invasion should be dealt with that way.

But just one important thing to clarify - the baby handed through the ambulance window was in Gaza. And I later found out he wasn't the ambulance medic it was a journalist and photographer Motaz Azaiza riding in the passenger seat of the ambulance. The baby had a large red mark in the middle of its forehead so I assumed but I don't know if it was a gunshot wound or shrapnel or a bombing. I don't know. I was so horrified I couldn't watch it again to be certain. I have cried several times about it since. Everywhere there is blood and death. There are no winners. I am so deeply sad and horrified about all the meaningless, pointless waste of life of the Israeli and Palestinian people. But not the Hamas terrorists.

I realise it's not the response you were probably hoping for sorry.

This was it. I checked and Motaz Azaiza is a credible journalist and photographer with millions of followers. His Instagram account is horrifying but also beautiful photography and I never want to see it again. The video is real and from Gaza yesterday:

One thing I'm tiring of is media pushing the envelope. I don't need to see explicit images of people dying. This was happening before the last week but the Israel/Gaza is like the lottery. I don't know what they're thinking. A mainstream newspaper I follow posted that infamous picture of the bullet-riddled baby last week. To its credit it gave you the option of clicking. But how long ago would it have been impossible to even consider doing such a thing? Not that long.

Please note how some Hamas apologists use the term "settler." One protestor, in London IIRC, said that no settlers were civilians. With reference to Israel, I use the term settler to describe people in settlements in the West Bank. But this woman and others are talking about Israelis living in an area that has been considered part of Israel since 1949.

The Hamas charter has a section about eradicating Israel. Iran's leaders talk about eradicating Israel. It's not a metaphor. They mean it.

Palestinian children's shows had had segments with children being coached to talk about Jews being apes and needing to kill Jews. When Israelis have complained, they were told not to take it seriously. This is where it leads. Palestinians in Gaza have been taught since childhood that Jews are "lesser." And we just saw that teaching manifest.

My mother is Israeli and I still have a lot of family there. My aunt's first husband was an Arab Israeli, and our closest family friends (that we even lived with for a stretch when I was in high school) were Muslim. My grandmother was a Zionist for sure, but I never heard her speak a bad word about Palestinians (now, Germans, that's another story...). My Israeli family are all leftists and talked shit on Bibi and the settlers incessantly. Over 20% of Israel is comprised of Arabs, and from what I could see when I'd visit, Israeli Jews and Arabs befriended each other and dated each other at about the same rate as people have interracial relationships in the US. Jews do not hate [Gazan] Palestinians, but they do fear them sometimes. Most Gazans however have a burning hatred for Jews.

My theory on why they haven’t gone in yet is that they are stalling to try and first make headway on the hostages. I also believe the US is advocating to stall until something shifts on hostages too, stalling is a good thing right now. For example, the water got turned back on in the south.

For the “God’s chosen people” poster….as someone who came from the faith world, I do not believe everyone holds that the way you think. For many, that phrase means they are called to a mission of bringing peace and kindness and compassion, no excuses. Years ago, I did an internship at Voice of America, which provided news to third world shitholes. For years afterwards, I followed Voice of America on Facebook because I had worked there. R411 I have read before that there’s a ton of inbreeding that goes on in the Islamic world. This actually makes perfect sense, because that part of the world is still very tribal, and they want to keep marriages within the tribe. Quite often, kids are married off to cousins. I read an article once that analyze the situation, and stated that the inbreeding is basically the reason why that part of the world is so violent and backward. Even within the UK, a huge portion of the Muslim population is inbred.

Lots of endogamy which is why we carry several genetic diseases at high rates. It's still quite common to marry cousins in religious families.

The extent of damage to the Lebanese burger joint wasn’t immediately clear.

The mob appeared to have missed the fact that McDonald’s locations in Israel are owned and operated by McDonald’s Israel, a local franchisee, as opposed to Chicago-based McDonald’s.

Indeed, McDonald’s franchisees in four Arab states — the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman — announced their support of the Palestinians. In addition, the fast-food chain’s franchisee in Turkey announced a “humanitarian aid” of $1 million “to the people of Gaza who are victims of war, especially women, children and the elderly.”

The violent footage emerged after McDonald’s Israel posted on its Instagram story that it “donated and continues to donate tens of thousands of meals to IDF units, the police, hospitals, residents around the Strip and all rescue forces,” according to Business Insider.

“We continue donating thousands of meals daily to our forces across the country. In addition to a 50% discount to soldiers and security forces who come to our branches,” the franchisee added.

McDonald’s Israel said in another post that it opened five restaurants solely for the purpose of providing 4,000 daily meals to locals and the IDF, which consist of an army, navy and air force, per Insider.

When I read about horrible and brutal murders like the ugly old man near Chicago that stabbed that young Palestinian boy 26 times, I don't understand how someone could do that. What kind of hate can you have that you could literally look at an innocent child and do that? While casualties of war can end up with dead children on both sides too, it's much more personal when it's intentionally directed and malicious like with that boy and with children in the kibbutz in Israel. Hamas seems to have a large group that is like that evil man near Chicago.

It’s in Hamas's founding charter to eliminate Israel and Jews from Israel's territory. The charter makes no exceptions for minors in its injunction to eliminate Jews.

Hamas put their headquarters in a hospital basement, making the hospital a military target. I have not yet read the news report, so I don't if it's that particular hospital. But hitting a military target is not a war crime. That's why, in the United States, at least, we do not store weapons in schools or put military offices in civilian hospitals.

R476, the Gazan Health Ministry is Hamas, and Hamas have been firing rockets into Israel from the same area as the hospital.

With all the recording and monitoring it will be quite easy to see if it was an air strike of a Hamas missile.

One video being shared shows it looked like a missile misfiring from within Gaza, But we will see.

The plan, which has been the plan since the country's inception, is for greater Israel. This means expelling the Palestinians from their land. The dangerous coincidence of Biden's trip to Israel on the date sanctions expire has not gone unnoticed by the national security community

'It's absolutely unconscionable for the US to let the UN missile embargo on Iran expire this week without working with European allies to snapback all UN sanctions first,' he explained.

'Russia and China can't stop the snapback, so the only reason not to trigger it is to maintain a strategic paradigm of appeasement and accommodation toward the sponsor of this heinous Hamas massacre, Iran,' Goldberg told DailyMail.com.

According to experts, Iran plans to use the loosening of restrictions to better supply its connected terrorist organizations - including Hamas and Hezbollah.

Iran has been developing its growing rocket arsenal over the last decade and is known to have the most diverse in the Middle East over around 3,000 missiles.

The country has the capability to land missiles in Israel and south-eastern Europe. This poses a huge security risk to the U.S. and allies with troops and other assets in the region.

The variety of missiles include close-range CRBMS, short-range SRBMs, and medium-range MRBMs which can hit targets 2,000km - or close to 1,200 miles away.

During a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing in 2022, now-retired U.S. Central Command Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr. warned that Iran's investments in missile development seem to be paying off.

'They have over 3,000 ballistic missiles of various types, some of which can reach Tel Aviv. Over the last five to seven years, they have invested heavily in the ballistic missile program. Their missiles have significantly greater range and significantly enhanced accuracy,' said Gen. McKenzie.

With the expiration of these sanctions, Iran will likely boost its nuclear weapons arsenal and could even send missiles to Russia to aid the country in its war of aggression against Ukraine, which is nearing its two-year mark.

The U.K., France and Germany - European members of the JCPOA - have said that they are keeping sanctions on Iran in place.

Those 'snapback' sanctions would restore the UN's conventional arms embargo against the hostile nation, which terminated in 2020.

It also puts in place restrictions on Iran's work on uranium enrichment as it works to develop nuclear weapons. Iran is not currently known to have yet successfully developed a functional nuclear bomb.

However, those snapback sanctions will terminate in 2025, so the international community only has two years remaining until all restrictions on Iran are lifted.

Former President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the JCPOA in 2018 because he said it was not hampering Iran's ability to develop its ballistic missile program.

A disabled girl who was at the music festival has been confirmed dead. Ruth Peretz had cerebral palsy, was in a wheelchair and was fed by a gastro tube. She was last seen being carried away by her father and was believed to have been a hostage but 12 days after her death her body has been identified.

That it took12 days to identify her remains makes it clear how badly Hamas mutilated and destroyed the bodies.

From what I've been reading, the stray Palestinian missile actually hit the parking lot of the hospital, not the hospital itself. The "500 dead" number was completely made up. There were just a few injured.

R574, that’s true. However, many Gazans have congregated in and near hospitals because they thought they would not be targeted. They, rather than doctors or patients, were the majority of casualties.

It's looking like all the hard evidence points to an Islamic Jihad errant explosive. I've been watching BBC and they were going over some of the same things the Americans were saying. Based on video footage, some from Al Jazeera, there is no way the damage came from an Israeli explosive (...but you know how cunning those Jews are...*sarcasm). Even Al Jazeera is only "suggesting" it was the Israelis now. I don't think anyone intended to strike a hospital, but wartime often results in friendly fire or unintended targets. I'm sure Islamic Jihad intended to kill innocent Jews rather than innocent Palestinians. I don't believe speculation that they did it to implicate Israel, because with all the footage from cameras and mobiles these days, you are just too likely to get caught.

A journalist with Paris Match has spent time with the forensic teams trying to identify the bodies.

Bodies were shot multiple times in the face and mouth, fingers cut off. Beheadings, rape, disembowelments.

Thai workers were killed and burned together making it hard to identify their remains.

And people celebrate this.

I'm reading from Sky News which is saying the same as BBC an NBC News. Probably, but not certainly, from Islamic Jihad (within Gaza). 95% certainty could be determined by fragments, but then said the below quote (which is, of course, obvious to anyone with a brain).

"I would expect Hamas to produce some sort of Israeli missile at some point derived from somewhere and say 'this is the missile that hit the hospital', and that may or may not be true."

R592 Most Israeli Jews are descendants of refugees from the Arab/Islamic countries. Ashkenazi are now the minority. Mizrahi and Sephardic Jews, like Arabs, have a higher birth rate and overtook the Ashkenazi population. The only Ashkenazi Jews with a high birthrate are the ultra orthodox Hasidism which are still a small minority. The Jews from North Africa, Türkiye, Iran and the Arab countries are just as "brown" as Arabs. Not to mention Jews from India and Ethiopia.

When I lived in Israel, my best friends were an extended family of North African (mostly Libyan) Jews. They left Libya because they were forced to after being there for centuries. I mentioned that when calmly discussing the displacement of Arabs with a Palestinian that I worked for. He said that was the stupidest thing the Arabs ever did.

It's not like you can say the Jews in Israel can just go back to Poland and Germany as Helen Thomas insensitively once said. That's not where most of them came from, not now anyway.

I really don't believe anyone is seriously considering exterminating Arabs. I don't think that's even possible. When I think of actual genocide, I imagine concentration camps with emaciated living dead people like in European concentration camps or camps in Bosnia where the Bosnians were skin and bones like the Jews were in the camps in Europe. I think of Dr Josef Mengele doing medical experiments on Jews that wouldn't be considered ethical on animals. I think of Zyklon B used as a means of mass extermination and bodies being burned in as rapid and efficient manner as possible so as to complete the job. I also consider the massive drop in the number of European Jews due to their fairly efficient, though quite cruel methods. The Germans had a policy to eradicate the world of Jews. This is not what is going on in the Arab world, Israel or the Palestinian territories. Granted that life isn't pleasant, but it is no genocide. The Palestinian birth rate in the territories is quite high suggesting at least adequate nutrition and an increasing/large population of children. This didn't happen in concentration camps where most of the Jewish women stopped menstruating, few conceived and even fewer had babies. Any babies born were not likely to survive. Surely the opposite is happening with the Palestinians. There birthrate is phenomenal and they are quite far from risk of extinction. If the Jews are attempting genocide, they are certainly doing a piss pour job of it where the Palestinians are concerned as the opposite is happening. I think genocide is just one of those words taking on new meaning or just hyperbole/inflammatory word to throw around. It's a way for antisemites to say "see the Jews do the same thing". Resolves any possible guilt for the holocaust and even excuses it in a cruel and unfair way.
