Hi Greg02116, we took the T into Boston this week and walked around Back Bay, which I'd never seen before. It's like San Francisco's Pacific Heights! I can't imagine how you can afford to live there (assuming that you do live there) on a personal chef's salary. It was such a beautiful day and of course, the Fall colors were amazing. Gorgeous neighborhood!

We got married on the beach in front of The Beauport Hotel. On the map it is "Pavillion Beach".

Our lawyer friend who lives in Gloucester and who did the 10 minute ceremony suggested that we meet at that hotel and do it on the deck. Well, the hotel was a crowded hotbed of formal heterosexual weddings and we felt uncomfortable. It was just the four of us - the lawyer friend and my partner's best friend as witness. Didn't want to draw (or - "drawer" in my husband's Noth Shawr accent) attention, so we just went out on the beach in front of the hotel to do the vows. When we were done, rings and fresh lei's from some Hawaiian friends FedExed to us were exchanged, we were caught surprised by a huge round of applause from wedding parties on the hotel roof deck, people from their hotel room decks, and people on the beach, who'd been watching our little two old fat gay men getting married thing. It was hella wicked awesome. 79 degrees, no wind, and a full moon later that evening.

I'm a San Francisco native, partner is from Salem, MA. We've been commuting back and forth for 5 years, in which time I have fallen in love with New England, but we can't deal with snow at this age. He retired and moved in with me this year. We went back there for the "wedding" and to close out his condo.

Have spent a bit of time in Gloucester over the years. My favorite eateries are: LobstaLand, Tonno, eldergay-owned Drift Cafe, and Markouk Bread for Greek/Lebanese take-out. Hammond Castle is a must-see, if you've never been.
