Sometimes, in very rare circumstances, actors don't work together because of personalities, but usually it's more about scheduling. And in these days of cost cutting everywhere, actors rarely work beyond their set guarantee or outside of their normal schedule. If an actor has a first in/first out clause in their contract, it can be limiting.

Victor played a big role in trying to get John and Marlena together in the 90s. He hired Doc to write the teen advice column for Bella Magazine and put Marlena on the board, along with John, so they could work together.

I love Maggie and I hope that everyone has an aunt like her but I hate that they have deHortonized her however I literally started crying when Julie came in today. I wish all her children and grandchildren were in town. One of the best things about Alice and Mickey's funerals was that even though those had some great returns, the people who never appeared on camera were just in the other room or had just left. It looks like Sarah will be there for Maggie but I would love if Melissa and Melanie(I know people hate her but I thought she was ok) came back for the funeral. I just watched r150 and remembered why I fell in love with Wayne as Roman in 1982.

One of the best characters ever on DAYS with the best actor.

Dee is one of those rare soap opera actress who managed to have a popular pairing in the 70s, the 80s, and the 90s and beyond.

I think Dee, Drake, and Peter are the only actors on the show who have had multiple popular pairings.

Linked below are the DAYS clips that inspired Harley Quinn. It's from "Shane's Fairytale", a goofy bit of fun that aired over two episodes in 1989. Parts of it were hilarious; the show poking fun at itself. (description of the fairytale is copied from Beth's Days Page):

While watching some old Calliope clips (*sniff*)... I was reminded of a cute, little storyline with Calliope, Tom & Alice. At some point, Calliope became manager of Shenanigans and decided to host open-mic, beatnik poetry nights -- calling it The Beat Bar.

I don't recall exactly how it happened, but Calliope quickly discovered that Tom secretly wrote poetry! However, he was self-conscious about it; he didn't want his friends & family to know, especially Alice. Calliope encouraged him to participate -- promising that she wouldn't tell anyone -- and he began performing at The Beat Bar under the name "Norm De Plume" while wearing a disguise of Calliope's design (LOL, it wasn't much of a disguise).

"Norm De Plume" became a huge hit with the young crowd/other poets. Tom got more & more into it, participating more often. Which meant he had to keep inventing more excuses to get out of the house at night. Working late at the hospital, meeting an old colleague for dinner, etc.

Alice became suspicious (after catching him in a lie about his whereabouts), and thought that Tom was having an affair -- it was the only thing that made sense. Alice confided in Calliope, who was now stuck firmly in the middle. Calliope tried to reassure Alice that Tom was NOT having an affair, to no avail. She wanted to tell Alice the truth, but she'd made a promise to Tom. Calliope begged him to tell Alice about "Norm" before things got out of hand, but he brushed her off.

And IIRC ...after seeing Tom & Calliope together having some hushed conversation, Alice suspected it was *Calliope* with whom Tom was having an affair! At which point, Calliope said: "Enough!" I think she told Alice to come to The Beat Bar that night? Or had someone bring Alice? Something like that. In any case...."Norm" was revealed to Alice, she loved his poetry, and all was forgiven!

It was just a funny, charming little storyline (back when the show did "charming" and "funny"). And what was especially neat about it....Macdonald Carey read poems that HE had written!

R.I.P. to Arleen Sorkin; Calliope Jones was a unique character that served as a bright light in Salem. She was so popular that NBC considered giving her and Eugene Bradford their own spinoff; working titles were "Keeping Up with the Joneses" "Sunny-side Up" or just "Calliope" which would've been a comedic themed soap helmed by Sheri Anderson. Calliope and Eugene would've relocated from Salem to Sunnyside, Queens, where Calliope grew up. Included in their cast would've been her dentist father, two sisters, along with her beautician grandmother.

Part of what made the soaps so great in the 80s (aside from budgets that weren't the size of a crumb, and more talented writers and actors) was that most shows regularly used humor.

An hour show was much more entertaining when the sad and/or the very romantic was balanced out with slice-of-life stories happening to various characters, as well as comic escapades.

Most of that was ripped from just about every show, because the networks and producers all thought every moment had to be EDGE OF THE CLIFF!!! suspense. But if all you ever have is edge of the cliff, you start thinking "Fuck, these people are all drama queens and idiots" and you just stop watching.

Calliope and Eugene were great comic characters. Another World, Guiding Light and All My Children - at various points - all knew how to do humor well, too.

All of the soaps except ATWT and the Bell shows used humor. Of course Santa Barbara was the best at this, Patrick Mulcahy’s dialogue was sharp.

On Y&R, Bell would also inject humor into his stories and scenes with particular characters on the canvas. Ones like Colonel Austin, Esther Valentine, Leanna Love, Dr. Tim Reid, etc. were all pretty funny.

And the storyline where we met "Marge Coltroke," Kay Chancellor's double, had quite a bit of comedy in it. This was the one where villain, Clint Radisson, found truck-stop waitress, Marge, and transformed her into Kay Chancellor Not only was "Marge" a hoot, but the entire part where Clint's accomplices, Morey and Lil, were holding real Kay and the overly-pregnant Esther captive was like a sit com. "Morey" was even played by comic actor, Morey Amsterdam, and "Lil" was played by Bell favorite Lilyan Chauvin, who was the deadpan, 'straight man' of the team. Even Clint himself had this Wiley Coyote guise to his portrayal, and you figured if something could go wrong, it would.

With Victor Kiriakis having died now, I've been thinking one character they could bring into the fold would be his absent grandson, Tyler Wilkens (Kiriakis) -- Phillip's adopted-out son.

At some point, Justin would report on Victor's Last Will & Testament and note that, even though Tyler was adopted by The Wilkens in 2007, Victor didn't forget his grandson and left Tyler a nice little trust fund that he can begin accessing for college when he turns 18. There might be something more when he turns 25.

Justin then adds that while Tyler's last address with The Wilkens is known, the 16-year old boy himself is nowhere to be found!

The disagreeable Wilkens are no help whatsoever and appear very sketchy about what's happened to Tyler. They act like they don't care where "he's run off to" and want nothing more to do with him. Somewhere along the way, the remark, "He's no son of ours," is heard.

A private investigator is hired to look into the mystery and soon learns from Tyler's high school football teammates that the Wilkens are crazy fundies who kicked Tyler out of the house when he announced he was gay. In short, Tyler is out there somewhere all on his own. (Cue the homeless, gay teen PSA.)

This leads bio-daddy Philip and Grandma Bonnie to go looking for Tyler so they can reunite the boy with his Kiriakis-Lockhart families.

When they track Tyler down, the teenager eventually agrees to come back to Salem with them, but only if he can bring his current boyfriend, "Ste" (Steven) with him.

Seventeen-year old Ste is neither a victim of homophobia nor a runaway; rather, he became an orphan after his mother, "Sonia," died a couple of years ago. He didn't want to go into foster care at age 15, so dropped off the grid from Child Services and has been making ends meet with a small bank account that Sonia left him. He also works at an auto-body shop detailing cars. After Ste and Tyler met and fucked (it was lust at first site), Ste invited Tyler to stay with him in his dingy, one-room apartment. But since they're two teenagers in love, it's their own little paradise.

Besides Phillip and Bonnie, Steve and Kayla are also overjoyed to be reunited - not just with "Pocket" (Tyler) - but also their godson, Steven Hawk. .. And just like Tyler knew nothing about being a Kiriakis, Sonia Hawk never told Ste that he's a DiMera.

Aiden was accepted by the fans for Hope, but Josh Griffith destroyed the character and his son, Chase.

I’m betting Chloe leaves Salem with Philip.

My guesses:

Ava remembers where she stashed Susan, freeing EJ from his revenge, clearing Ava of murder, and also getting some of the stain off of Xander, prompting Sarah to forgive him and reunite.

Dumped by Xander, Chloe leaves Salem with Philip.

Shawn and Belle move to wherever Hope is having Bo treated.

The original Susan was Susan Hunter Martin, the arch nemesis of Julie -- both were in love with the same man, David Martin, and both got pregnant by him.

Susan was played by Denise Alexander, who went on to GH to play Leslie Falkner Weber, the mother of the show's heroine Laura.

The Martin house played for more than a handful of episodes. That set was used for about a year in 2015-16. That Martin House was where Hope and Adrian (Daniel Cosgrove) got married. Julie and Doug bought the place and ran it as a B&B. Later they gave the house to Eli and Lani so they could run the B&B.

Clearly there were big plans for a Martin connection to the show that never materialized. They mentioned it so much you could almost do a drinking game everytime someone said "The Martin House." Maybe the show tried to get Denise Alexander back but couldn't work out a deal. Or maybe they changed HWs again and the HW abandoned any plans connected to the Martin family and house.

Dena's husband Mark went fi-core during the 2007-08 strike. Officially, he was the one HWing Days during that time, but it was really Dena.

Later in the strike, Dena went fi-core herself and continued to HW after the strike.

MAGA Sweeney was rewriting all of Dena's work, supported by EP Ed Scott (which was part of the reason he got fired; the other part was he was fucking the girl who played Morgan).

They're moving pretty slower than usual since they're only filming February now, so that's where I'm basing this from.
