I finally finished watching this season and I didn't like it very much. Too much filler. Seems like Alice didn't know what to do with the many characters she incorporated into the story. Sahar had no purpose. Weirdly, Elle had the best storyline this season. I could not finish episode 3 and had to skip that party in the woods scene. Season 1 was cute and awkward but it worked. I really hope Joe and Kit can find better material because the last scene showcased how ridiculously talented they are. Alice has maybe some of the best leading actors in a teen program and she chooses to waste all that talent with her puritan, politically correct, sanitized, and unrealistic storylines.

R6 you’re not wrong. I have a much more positive view of it but I also have confirmation bias based on Joe and Kit’s performances. It’s interesting about Sahar. I’m not sure why but the very brief glimpses of her we had I enjoyed. She was a bit rough, and cool. Disappointing that so much time was wasted on Imogen and Ben when Leila could have been given a chance to do something (not sure if she had the chops but she might). You’re right that Elle had an interesting storyline but Yaz was no better than last season - not very good. Tao barely had a storyline at all and will did much more with it.

R7 I think while it was community stuff, the fact that Leila did so much Oxford stage stuff pre HS and the fact that as a plus sized Asian woman she’s already done another project makes me think she is probably at least decent, which makes the imogen development annoying. Rhea is garbage.

Joe and Kit bodied it so hard that it’s easy to forget the storyline was “nick has one angst spot which he prevaricates over for 8 episodes and Charlie is just a wet noodle whose job is supportive boyfriend”.

Though by the by, hilarious Charlie spends 8 episodes severely repressing his own needs and mental health to support nick through coming out, exams, parental issues, stress, and everything else and the one thing the entire fanbase is hung up on is how amazing nick is at the end. God I hate straight people and fangirls.

I do think the show needs to give Nick and Charlie more time. Isaac had his arc (if you could call it that), Elle is going away, they would be insane to focus any time on Imogen and Sahar. Filler seems to be the main complaint, and I get it the comics are about Charlie and Nick alone the others are just there. Here is hoping season 3 gets closer to the comics.

I could maybe see the argument that Elle's storyline was the best on paper, but her performance is always so wooden that it doesn't matter at the end of the day.

R8 My problem is more with the actual show. Maybe I'm too old for it. A lot of dialogue felt like an after-school special or a soap tv show. I follow up with the cast because I love their humor and their personalities, especially Joe. I love seeing queer people break into the mainstream. I'm glad the season is well-received and hope Joe and Kit get their coins. I'll probably wait for Agatha - although Disney shows aren't necessarily better. Someone cast Joe in a Broadway show.

R13 the dialogue is fucking awful. In particular some of the shit that Kit and Joe have to say believably sell as teenagers talking and not 30 yr old frau. Most of the best moments are between the speaking. Last scene is by far the best - I suspect Alice had help with that one, because you wouldn’t want to fuck it up.

Agatha has some great directors attached to it, the Showrunner was the head of WandaVision, arguably the best Marvel show, and it sounds like they really went all out. It won’t have broad appeal to the MCU fans because many of them are het fuckheads but the Marvel comic fans will probably lap it up, as will the gals and the gays

R104 yeah tbh I’ve felt when they try to replicate it in recent times, it is often more “these are two really famous people who are funny in interviews together and good actors” and they sort of force it. But while joe and Kit both have great chemistry with almost everyone they share scenes with in the show, it is one in a million chemistry for the two of them. I said this in an earlier post but I actually think cori and kizzy are a good foil. They have good onscreen chemistry, I would say honestly better than average even. But it looks sort of meh in HS because Joe and Kit’s is just THAT good.

The Farouk soft spot for Charlie was one of my favourite things in s2. Rips Ben’s head off every time he breathes, coddles Charlie. So fucking funny. Nima did great with it, and I actually think he and fisayo have good chemistry
