When I was 19, I used to intentionally date guys I didn’t particularly like. Not guys I hated, just guys that I knew would never work out long term. I didn’t want a long term relationship at the time, so only dating people that I found equally hot and annoying was perfect. I never got my heart broken and had a lot of fun. I grew out of that and started looking for guys I genuinely cared about in my mid-twenties. I kind of see Joe doing that with both Nick and Tal. I’m sure they both have enough redeeming qualities to be fun to hang out with. But Joe isn’t going to have a serious ltr with either of them. And everyone knows that.

Also while not trying to accuse bash of being the worlds worst bf, we all agree that from January on he put very little effort in and joe clearly has some looks related self esteem issues. R508 I think at this point it’s hard for me. Earlier on I would’ve said purely Kit is trying to stay friends with both and had a lot of sympathy for him in that. Now, while I still do and wouldn’t judge him for wanting to be close to both idk how much it’s the case. in addition to just how sweet he was with joe at pride, it also struck me that while nice to bash, he seemed much more surface level nice that with anyone else. Not nearly as demonstrative as with even Will and tobie, let alone joe. That coupled with how eager joe seems to be for things to die down and be smoothed over makes me think he doesn’t hate bash and maybe even likes him and hopes everyone can be friends, but that a lot of his recent conciliatory stuff has been for joes sake too.

I will also say I don’t think Kit or tobie for that matter wanted to side with anyone, or even that they think they are. And I genuinely judge them 0 percent for trying, especially Kit. But it’s hard to watch one friend make another feel as shitty as bash obviously made joe feel on that float and not feel a little off about it

I'm not saying this is something that'll come to pass but the feeling I get is that Kit is all for playing nice, both for Joe's sake and because he's a good guy, but if Joe were to go to Kit and tell him that Bash really hurt him and the situation is untenable I think he wouldn't hesitate to drop Bash.

The pictures that really sat weirdest with me, even though it was probably totally accidental, were the ones of Kit, Joe and Bash leaving the airport in Brazil. It was like Joe was in the back pushing their luggage or something, while Bash was out the front main-charactering with Kit. It reminded me of the Olivia pics. I said something about it here and was told I was being a sensitive Joe fan (lol), which tbf, in that case I probably was

I assumed it was by design at the time at Joe’s request but now I’m not so sure. Especially remembering about the Olivia thing. And especially now thinking that maybe the reserved, private Joe thing was more a result of his relationship with Bash than a reflection of his personality.

I think Joe actually is a semi reserved person and willing to let others take the spotlight. There are a few interviews (the GQ video one) where kit talks way more than him and Joe gets maybe 1/3 of the time. The difference is that kit actively tries to turn to and include him rather than just relishing in the attention while bash has crazy main character syndrome.

I think sometimes the Kit focus in interviews is in the edit. I suspect they get more out of Joe that they just don't use. Particularly, as you see in the interviews that are clearly not cut down, they spend a lot of time reiterating each other because they think in very similar ways. In that case media will always go with Kit's answer over Joe, right. It's kind of fucked but also just how it is.
