We have 15 to go
MSNBC - Part 47
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 6, 2023 11:32 PM |
Michael Steele's suit jacket made his shoulders look massive today. I did a double take.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 7, 2023 1:02 AM |
He's a hot daddy!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 7, 2023 1:04 AM |
I find Michael Steele incredibly sexy but I have a feeling in person he's got a big-assed pear- shaped bottom.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 7, 2023 2:38 AM |
Weird that without MJ CM had to show up on Alexe's show tonight.
Lawrence O'Donnell has been on fire lately.
Hey Rashida, replay his Corrupt Illegitimate Supreme Court episode as a SPECIAL!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 7, 2023 4:42 AM |
I love Laurence's recurring three man panel.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 7, 2023 4:45 AM |
r4, there is something hot about Michael. I would hit it.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 7, 2023 4:56 AM |
There is already another MSNBC - Part 48 thread, likewise started prematurely on 06/21, by another Tracy Flick wannabe.
What is with DL'ers practically wetting themselves, tripping over each other to start the next thread in the series? Just strange.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 7, 2023 7:47 AM |
Starting new threads or parallel threads is complicated. The main thing is that threads are continued. DLers usually figure out which ones continue. Stop fretting, it's an organic process.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 7, 2023 8:08 AM |
Complicated? You're joking. No one's fucking fretting, other than the sweaty nosepicker OP's.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 7, 2023 8:23 AM |
OK, this is the Friday of a week when most anchors took the week off.
Lawrence has been a trooper and has had some stellar shows.
Not even Ari can Rap himself to a decent show.
I am praying for Monday.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 7, 2023 11:18 AM |
《《 BEAR KING NEWS 》》 Alex Witt working on a Friday!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 7, 2023 5:03 PM |
I don’t believe in artificially closing threads, OP. Tsk.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 7, 2023 5:42 PM |
Katy Tur is being bitchy about Biden....again. I really wish they would get rid of her.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 7, 2023 7:13 PM |
Molly Jong Fast is one ugly lady!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 7, 2023 9:14 PM |

[quote] OK, this is the Friday of a week when most anchors took the week off.

Look at that purple eyeshadow on Symone!!!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 8, 2023 1:29 AM |
Steph Rhule forgot she works as a primetime anchor.
Wishes she still had that Wall Street schedule.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 8, 2023 1:31 AM |
For some twisted reason, I hope Rachel takes Monday off, too. I have found I can live without her and her shilling.

Or if you've seen it if it's any good?

R25, it premieres tonight at 10pm ET.

So Chris Hayes is never gonna work a Monday again?
Guess if Lawrence & Steph do it on Fridays…

Going to each commercial break tonight, it was "We'll be right back, on The Beat with Jason Johnson". He did slip a "sitting in" once.
But I'm sure Ari is very secure.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 11, 2023 1:53 AM |
Eww Jason Johnson has balls to do that to Ari.
Most fill-ins don’t use their own names on the anchors shows.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 11, 2023 2:53 AM |
You know that Ari is a wigger. He probably gave Jason his blessings.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 11, 2023 7:04 AM |
I wonder why Michael Steele doesn't have his own show. He does a great job when he fills in for others.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 11, 2023 9:33 AM |
What is the deal with Jonathan Lemire’s hair? I know he dyes it, but how much of that bouffant is actually his? He also seems gayer every time I tune in!

Katy Tur looks like a snarky soccer mom.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 11, 2023 8:00 PM |
Is Nicolle remote for the whole summer bc of her kid?
She needs to get her ass back to the studio like everyone else has to, including Mika & Joe.
Remember when these assholes said everyone has to return to work/school but they get to stay at home.

by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 12, 2023 1:10 PM |
I swear, one day Joe is going to really go off on his lame brain wife. She is as intolerant of any criticism of Biden as Trump's ass lickers about him. Legitimate, rational and unemotional criticism or concern about something Biden has said or done does not mean a person does not support him and vote for him. Pretending some of his emotional or physical stumbles aren't bait for the Repugs is not realistic. Mika is far too emotional. Plus, the show is Morning Joe, not Morning Mika.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 12, 2023 1:39 PM |
It should be Morning Mika.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 12, 2023 6:26 PM |

I'm sick of Mika yelling the news. I always need to lower the volume.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 12, 2023 10:41 PM |

I'm guessing someone accidentally typed WHET instead of WEHT (What Ever Happened To) once and it was apparently considered funny for some reason and henceforth became DL tradition.
You're not supposed to type WEHT anymore.

I was surprised to discover that Kurt Bardella's other passion besides politics is country music. He publishes a daily newsletter about the country music industry. I never would have pegged him as a big country music fan.

Joe droning on about how the Southern Baptists used to be so much better when they were only racists and not power hungry fascists is remotely amusing. He has launched cult like apologias on how his cult church was so much better decades ago. He stops short of the complete exegesis as the Southern Baptists only have biblical interpretation and precious other beliefs.

by Anonymous | reply 68 | July 13, 2023 8:39 PM |
R68. MSNBC reporter Ali Vitali (CNN Jeremy Diamond's girlfriend) just cut her hair in that same style--but even shorter. It looks like shit.

Saw him walk out on the Colbert show once, nothing out of the ordinary. Long legs, slightly more slender than you might expect.
With the surround camera pans on MJ, I noticed he does have a pronounced neck hot dog. Only one, but healthy-sized.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | July 16, 2023 8:57 AM |

His mannerisms come off feminine, if I didn’t know he was married to a lady, I would have thought he was part of the team.

One shocking dismaying story after another on Rachel tonight. Glad I'll be dead in the next 20 years.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | July 18, 2023 1:11 AM |
R105 Mika used to fill-in for other MSNBC hosts, before Joe moved Scarborough Country to the mornings as MJ in 2007. He dumped Pat Buchanan for her. I think Willie joined them shortly thereafter.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | July 18, 2023 5:27 AM |
Joe in the studio gives off a different vibe than that remote shit.
Time to get out of the house and go back to work.
Remember when Joe was screaming that yo the teachers who were scared ti go back to school, but he sat comfortably in his home studio MSNBC built for them.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | July 18, 2023 11:03 AM |
"Imus in the Morning" was the immediate precursor to "MJ".
Yes, it's true. The "liberal" MSNBS hosted Imus every morning. I tuned in every day, although Imus was a terrible person, and so was his side-kick Bernard.
If you watched Imus enough, however, you knew part of it was schtick.
All the then establishment DC Big-Wigs, including Tim Russert, Clarence Page, Andrea Mitchell, would appear by telephone. Scarborough, too. Trump phoned in regularly, too.
I think it was remotely possible that Imus could've saved himself and the show by, as soon as he repeated Bernard's slur about the Rutgers women's basketball team - "Nappy-headed Hos" - he would've realized how terrible those words were, stopped his show-mid-air, traveled immediately, in-person to Rutgers, and stated an apology.
He didn't do that, though. He was canned, as he should have been.
And, there, waiting in the wings, was his young, ambitious, up-and coming guest, Scarborough. MSNBC offered him that time slot and here we are.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | July 18, 2023 11:34 AM |
Ooops-
Imus wasn't immediately canned. Bernard was. Imus was allowed to try to keep his show going and its new iteration either failed, or, by mutual agreement, Imus quit.
Then, enter Scarborough.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | July 18, 2023 11:52 AM |
Wasn't Joe S a Congressman for awhile before he went into TV?
by Anonymous | reply 111 | July 18, 2023 1:00 PM |
Joe was in the limo with Trump during the first inauguration. He and Mika helped him rise to power in 2015-2016. They also had KellyAnne Conway on almost weekly leading up to the election.
Joe was big on impeaching Clinton in 1998-1999. Mika didn’t like Hilary because Bill didn’t give her dad the job he wanted in 1993.
Joe was a big fan of Rex Tillerson being SOS in the beginning.
The relationship between Joe and Trump only collapsed later.
Never forget who people are. They may wash their face and put on a clean dress…but underneath it all, this is the political environment Joe fought FOR for 25 years.
And yes…he still hates Rachel and Rachel still hates him.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | July 18, 2023 1:08 PM |
What is it with MSNBC and OPPENHEIMER? They've been shilling this film for weeks and, of course, they did the accompanying documentary on the subject. Is there some official connection?

Is there an intern at MJ that keeps going out to buy coffee for the hosts and guests from Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Wawa, etc?
by Anonymous | reply 114 | July 18, 2023 1:37 PM |
There are so many "ex-Republicans" of whom I am suspicious and think that once TFG is eradicated, they'll find a way to go back. Even if they may trash all the Republicans that are not challenging TFG . Which is all. of them.
Charlie Sykes is a Republican I'm keeping my eye on. He hates and is appalled by TFG, and speaks harshly of him and current Republican policies on MSNBC, but I see he also promotes Republican Twitters and was apparently also virulently Republican before TFG fell from grace. I had no idea, from his appearances on MSNBC, that he had been a Republican.
The only "ex-Republican" I trust is David Jolly (was R-FL) - who has repudiated his fellow Republicans, has officially left the party - so many of them have not - and is the only one that has said, very plainly, the only way to fix all this is to never vote for another Republican, and vote Democratic. He actually said that on air.
On MSNBC, Jolly's "title" says "No Longer Affiliated with GOP". Sykes, for example does not claim that. I haven't read Tim Miller's book, so I have no idea if he'll be back on the Republican bandwagon as soon as they clean up the shit.
And I never hear any of them admit that the policies they supported before TFG helped TFG rise to power. For them, it's like the immaculate conception; no one got fucked and yet still they ended up pregnant.
BTW - Why do Rachel and Joe hate each other?
by Anonymous | reply 115 | July 18, 2023 1:47 PM |
The Republican party will NEVER find its way back to whatever the fuck it was before Trump so I really don't see any of those former MSNBC Republicans like Miller and Sykes returning. Even if Trump died today it wouldn't matter, that ship has sailed.

R115, one evening both Joe and Rachel were both on for one of those multiple pundit occasions.
It must’ve been an election night, the SoTU, or one of the national conventions.
Anyway, I saw it live.
Rachel made a made an observation that Joe responded to in that “I’ll school you” patronizing, condescending way he has.
Rachel wasn’t having it and responded accordingly.
It went back and forth a couple of times, both in argumentative tones, until the other very aware and embarrassed panelists managed to figuratively separate the two and move on.
To use a tired cliche, the tension coming from my tv screen was palpable and I remember while watching it thinking, “ Whoah, It’s on!” between those two.
And ever since, I’ve never seen another segment, or hand-off where both Maddow and Scarborough were present.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | July 18, 2023 3:01 PM |
Fun to see two Aries fight it out. Sorry I missed that. I absolutely hate Scarborough as I remember him in that 1994 Congressional class with Puke Getrich. MJ has too much of his bluster, plus I remember he and Mika being enthusiastic Trumpers until he turned on them. I’m definitely Team Rachel, though she can be smug.

[quote] Yes, it's true. The "liberal" MSNBS hosted Imus every morning. I tuned in every day, although Imus was a terrible person, and so was his side-kick Bernard.
MSNBC didn't become a "liberal" network until the 2008 presidential campaign, when it hitched a ride on the popularity of Obama. Before then, there were lots of conservatives on MSNBC who either hosted shows or were commentators, including Alan Keyes, Michael Savage, Pat Buchanan, and Tucker Carlson. MSNBC was also a big cheerleader for the Iraq War, at least at first, during Bush's presidency.

It was the other way around with Scarborough and Trump.
First he turned on Trump (after he had been in office about a year or two) and then Trump made the comment about Mika's face-lift.
In fact the turnaround was the reason Trump went after her.
That doesn't make the duo less problematic; I'm just pointing out the timeline.

They do look and sound better in studio. Interactions at the table usually is the better format with contributors and guests.
It would be interesting to know what their contracts say in terms of days-off, vacation time, required availability, etc.
I suppose there is a lot of flexibility offered to seasoned anchors who are scheduled to be at work by 5am or so.
Morning Joe talks a lot about baseball games the night before, Some of those games get extended to well into the night. I find it difficult to believe they all are “up” that late.

Danny Cevallos is totally a crypto-maga. His coverage of Hunter Biden's plea deal was only missing a conspiracy theory.
Here is the conspiracy, Danny. After SEVEN years of investigation, the Trump appointed Hunter prosecution team found BUPKIS. That their prosecution bordered on MALICIOUS PROSECUTION, but living in fear of Congressional Chair Jim Jordan, and House Judiciary, they did not want to appear before the GOP Judiciary clown court, but thought they could get away with charging some rarely charged charges and keep the investigation open so that they would not have to appear before Jordan. You can't give information on open investigations, BUT... the Trump judge saw the flaws in the plea deal and stopped the Prosecution from seeking safe haven.
Prediction, charges dismissed WITH PREJUDICE and Hunter files a Malicious prosecution charge and the investigations are shut down.

I wonder if MSNBC regrets moving Alex Wagner into Rachel's time slot so quickly and now wishes they had waited a little longer to have Jen Psaki fill that role. Alex is doing a fine, if not spectacular, job, so I doubt MSNBC will get rid of her, at least not in the immediate future. I don't see how MSNBC can move Jen into prime time, unless they get rid of Chris Hayes or Lawrence O'Donnell retires. A more likely scenario might be to cut Nicolle Wallace's afternoon show to just one hour and give Jen the second hour.

Jen Psaki needs a show no earlier than 4 pm! She's too good for daytime.
I love Alex but there's just nothing new in her perspective or presentation. By the time her show comes on, I feel I've heard all the news and seen all the same guests earlier in the day. She seems as exhausted doing the show as I do watching it. Personally, I'd move her to the slot right after Morning Joe, she'd be a calm and serene contrast to Joe and Mika.
Lawrence is even later, of course, but he brings a gravitas and fresh snark that I just love. And I even find Stephanie Ruhle mischievous fun with the way she formats her round tables with truly assorted people and her featured guests (like David Gura!) at the end of the show tete a tete on the easy chairs.

I haven't watched MSNBC at night in months. Had to go on a severe news diet to protect my mental health.
My impression is that so many people look different.
Kelly O'Donnell has lost a ton of weight (Ozempic?). Ari, Chuck Rosenberg, and even Danny Cevallos have aged precipitously. Jill Wine-Banks looks like she hasn't aged since 2016.
by Anonymous | reply 266 | August 1, 2023 11:51 PM |
Actually, I just noticed now how much weight Joy has lost in the last year or so. Funny to remember how chubby she was with her dull frau clothes and 1950s page boy wigs when she began on MSNBC. It would be interesting to see a year by year montage of her transition.

R287 I'm overlooking that. Her hair is also amazing, shiny, silky looking and it swings perfectly.
by Anonymous | reply 290 | August 2, 2023 2:01 AM |
Say what you will, but Rachel had only a few hours to put together an introduction that encapsulated the indictment and its implications. She's masterful at these presentations.
by Anonymous | reply 291 | August 2, 2023 2:15 AM |
I get that, r291, but it seemed rude and patronizing to her colleagues to make them sit there for a half hour while she expounded, though I imagine it was the producers choice..

The reporters at the big newspapers do this all the time, and cover a lot more ground than you can on television (especially when you're Rachel and you're having to stop for dramatic pauses all the time). Rachel's fans have given her a swelled head.
by Anonymous | reply 301 | August 2, 2023 3:19 AM |
I love Lawrence nicely slapping down blubber face Chris and Rachel about Merrick Garland and the DOJ. Lawrence made perfect sense when he stated that if the DOJ had indicted before the January 6 Committee had met, we, as the American public, would not have had all the learned information that came out of the Committee. Rachel gets ahead of herself, and Chris tries too hard with his "look at me, look at me" antics.
by Anonymous | reply 302 | August 2, 2023 4:00 AM |
r302, Chris is definitely the weak link in the weeknight lineup.
by Anonymous | reply 303 | August 2, 2023 5:07 AM |
What I like about discourse on MSNBC is the general collegiality of the hosts, guests & regular panelists. Even a legal expert like Andrew, or well-sourced journalist like Carol, will frequently go out of their way to reference back to a previous statement or work of a named colleague - who in some cases may actually be a professional competitor or rival.
It's nice, and it's just something I don't pick up on quite as much on other networks.
by Anonymous | reply 304 | August 2, 2023 6:34 AM |
R302 I disagree. Lawrence is a DOJ apologist and his job is to defend Merrick Garland.
Everything that Donald Trump is all edged to have done was done publicly on live television and on Twitter. The American people don’t care. He is still the front runner for the nomination and is in a statistical tie for the presidency.
THAT is on Merrick garland. If he had taken swift action from the get-go, then we wouldn’t be in the position we are in.
The justice defenders share a trait with Qanon.
Both believe “Justice is coming”
Both believe “trust the plan”
And every time there is a “delay” or “timing issue” it’s always “behind the scenes…it’s happening. Trust Garland. Trust Pelosi. Trust Mueller. Trust Jim Comey. Trust Christopher Ray. Trust the court.”
by Anonymous | reply 305 | August 2, 2023 12:00 PM |
How long between the end of 1/6 deliberations and the appointment of Jack Smith? I think that is the questionable time lag for which Chris and Rachel were taking Garland to task. I don't believe they ever suggested the 1/6 deliberations weren't a necessary step though Lawrence seemed to be suggesting they did.

r289, Rachel is one of the few people who is both an Aggregator and a Distiller.
What she did was aggregate the indictment so that the rest could distill the count.
That takes time.

[quote] Having the rest of them sit around the Maddow altar has to be a chore.
How long can MSNBC continue having Maddow serve as the Queen of MSNBC and the host for all breaking news and specials when her regular show airs only 1 hour a week? It works for now, because everyone still remembers when Rachel was on 5 nights a week, but it's not sustainable long term as the network tries to attract new viewers. Eventually, new viewers will wonder: "Who is this woman who only shows up when there's breaking news and then acts as if she runs the place?"
by Anonymous | reply 363 | August 4, 2023 7:52 PM |
R361 she was dismissive of Chris's opinion over the Judge ordering Trump to not commit crimes, or intimidate witnesses. Chris questioned the attorney to ask if that was unusual, and he was told it had never happened in any case he'd prosecuted. Rachel gave a very quick 'I stand corrected' as she shuffled papers and didn't look at the camera, while Chris took a quick drink of water and looked very satisfied.
by Anonymous | reply 364 | August 4, 2023 7:59 PM |

Even once a week and special occasions are enough to keep Rachel front and center as long as she keeps to that schedule.
I do, however, see MSNBC move Jen Psaki to a prime time spot in the next year or two. The question will be: Where?
by Anonymous | reply 366 | August 4, 2023 8:11 PM |
Jonathan Swan's wife Betsy Woodruff is regularly on MSNBC. She's pretty much a Nepo baby; her parents are Judy Woodruff and Al Hunt.
by Anonymous | reply 367 | August 4, 2023 8:35 PM |
Betsy Woodruff Swan is the child of Jane & Scott Woodruff - no relation to journalists Judy Woodruff, Bob Woodruff, or Al Hunt.
But Jonathan might be considered more Nepo, as he's the son of Norman Swan, an Australian TV and radio producer.

Not sure why - just decided he was really smart - smarter than any of the others -years ago when some crisis or other was going on and he knew all sorts of background info, that he brought up, on the spot, during interviews. It might have been details about the leadup to the Nixon resignation during Watergate. Some historical details that I can't imagine the usual talking head knowing, without the kind of prep/research Rachel does.

Mehdi Hasan, as a Muslim, had issues with homosexuality in the past; He has since changed his thinking:
[quote]The British journalist and interviewer Mehdi Hasan today admitted that he was "definitely guilty" of saying "ignorant shit" about gays and homosexuality when he was younger, and he was sorry for that. He also said Muslims should be the last people to be okay with "hate being spread against any minority" given the current climate.
Ayman is also Muslim, but I've not heard of anything overtly homophobic in his reporting or writing.
by Anonymous | reply 388 | August 7, 2023 1:49 AM |
Hey all, just because Ayman and Mehdi are both Muslim is no reason to expect them to have the same views on homosexuality (and Mehdi's was even a youthful view). And if Ayman has never expressed an opinion on the subject, how do you know what he thinks?
Do all Jews have the same take on homosexuality? Protestants? Even Catholics?
by Anonymous | reply 389 | August 7, 2023 2:55 AM |
Ayman has spoken about the LGBTQ community many times on his show. I've never even suspected that he'd be homophobic. I just see him as this big, affable, sexy guy who loves to eat (per his social media posts) and who happens to be a journalist. His wife is a lucky woman.

I am convinced more and more - watching Andrea Mitchell fumble and pause and wander and stammer - that she is in such a bad state that producers are feeding her lines through her earpiece.
It would explain her appalling demeanor. These days she is essentially a puppet.

Before I go back and scan through the recording, can you provide a hint as to what the dispute was about? Thanks.
Isaacson is part of the regular "company" on Amanpour & Company, my go-to news show. He's actually done a number of good interviews there. As far as being a historian, he has a distinctly Time Magazine Person of the Year view of the world.
by Anonymous | reply 406 | August 7, 2023 11:03 PM |
In fact, Walter Isaacson used to be a top editor at Time magazine, years ago. I don't know when he turned into a "historian."

Isaacson turned into a historian by writing lengthy, well-respected bios of Ben Franklin, Steve Jobs, Leonardo daVinci, Einstein, Kissinger, etc. Are those credits solid enough for you?
by Anonymous | reply 410 | August 8, 2023 1:40 AM |
I was thinking about it while watching his show this weekend.
I could see Aymim being a closet homophobe. Like he's intelligent enough to understand gay people have rights, but he might cry at night if he found out he had a gay son.
Velshi seems more gay friendly.

R410 He's certainly credentialed as a bestselling biographer. His choice of subjects are big names that readers can fan-boy out on.
I've only listened to the audiobook of the bio of DaVinci. It was lengthy and kept my interest. I have Code Breaker in my queue, bio of the Nobel Prize winning developer of CRISPR gene editing. No idea how his work is regarded by academics.
He's a Professor of History and Values at Tulane.

Mitchell won't retire, because, like elderly men in the DC moneyed, career driven, elite, TV talking head milieu, they know their fate once they do - being ignored, excluded, and no more best restaurant tables and party invitations.
There is a social brutality to retirement in that atmosphere. And, like every human, and I include myself here, some of it is pure projection- we know how we treated, whether intentionally or benignly, co-workers who lost, or gaveup power. You move on from them.
And MSNBC won't ease her out because they worry about the perception of ageism if they do.
So, Mitchell ain't going anywhere.

by Anonymous | reply 416 | August 8, 2023 11:54 AM |
It's not as though Mitchell needs to retire completely.
She does reports for the NBC Evening News and she's fine doing that, although that's probably because she's reading a script. (The evenings are the only time I see her because I don't watch her afternoon show.)
Maybe NBC just needs to remove her from MSNBC's daytime lineup and keep her reporting for Lester Holt (who seems to like referring to her as "our very own Andrea Mitchell.")

by Anonymous | reply 420 | August 8, 2023 3:01 PM |
Ayman shows no signs of being a homophobe. I'd take Mehdi as one before Ayman.
by Anonymous | reply 421 | August 8, 2023 3:28 PM |
Are we making these assumption about Mehdi or Ayman based on gaydar of a sort that intuits their opinions about gays and lesbians, or, instead, based on the sole fact that they are Muslim? Because, believe it or not, there are gay Muslims.
It feels like some of these comments are skirting the edge of hurtful stereotypes and generalizations. If these people are not overtly bashing gays and lesbians, then their religion - and its tenets about sexuality - should have no bearing on their value as a TV presenter/reporter.
Am I way off base here?

[quote]The British journalist and interviewer Mehdi Hasan today admitted that he was "definitely guilty" of saying "ignorant shit" about gays and homosexuality when he was younger, and he was sorry for that. by Anonymous | reply 423 | August 8, 2023 3:34 PM |
^I read that, however, I'm still wondering what gives people the feeling that Ayman may be a closeted homophobe. Just because he's never been caught being homophobic and apologized for it doesn't mean that he is a homophobe.

The thing with Ayman is he went after gay activists for protesting Muslim countries for hosting sports events by basically saying the US was just as bad:
The difference is gay people are oppressed in America, no doubt but in Muslim countries gay people are murdered by the state for being gay. That is a big difference and he couldn’t see that.
It was very dissapointing

And yeah, idk! I just came back from the "things you learn at work" thread.
When you're in these professional environments with straight men, it's almost as if you have "ally-dar." You can feel their level of comfort. Aymin does not give off the "Yeah man, I have a gay brother it's cool!" Vibe.
He gives off "Look, I don't care if you're gay, just don't hit on me."
It's not because he's Muslim.

SEXY Andrew Weissmann
by Anonymous | reply 515 | August 15, 2023 2:11 AM |
Is Andrew Weissmann a cocksucker? He has gay voice.
by Anonymous | reply 516 | August 15, 2023 2:13 AM |
Great to see Hillary. I miss her concern for children and civil responsibility.

Chris Hayes! On a Monday night!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 518 | August 15, 2023 2:22 AM |
He's usually off on Monday, Laurence is off on Friday and Rachel is off Tuesday through Friday. Good work if you can get it.
by Anonymous | reply 519 | August 15, 2023 2:24 AM |
You just know Chris only has on boxers with his jacket, shirt and tie. Somebody got on the horn and told him to get his ass down to his basement in front of the chroma key, stat!
by Anonymous | reply 520 | August 15, 2023 2:26 AM |
Did anyone else notice that when Rachel started her show tonight, actually even before that as she came on around 8:45, she was wearing a dark grey striped jacket? Still wearing that in her Hillary interview. But watching her now, at 10:45, she's wearing a b=solid back jacket? WTF?
by Anonymous | reply 521 | August 15, 2023 2:50 AM |
R521 Check your eyes, she's still wearing the black pinstripe blazer.
by Anonymous | reply 522 | August 15, 2023 3:04 AM |
I'm looking now and don't see any stripes on Rachel's blazer. The earlier striped blazer also had wider lapels than her usual thing. Very odd for her, I thought.
by Anonymous | reply 523 | August 15, 2023 3:18 AM |
Are they really breaking news in Georgia right now at damn near midnight? CPT is terrible.
R502, I suspect he feels some type of way about Maddow only Mondays and is getting his little perk. Others here say it's because of his daughter.
DL famously went on about some alleged tension between Hayes and Maddow for years.
Poor Symone they only gave her 20 minutes.
by Anonymous | reply 524 | August 15, 2023 3:49 AM |
Rachel's staying on for another hour. Will she remove her wig?
by Anonymous | reply 525 | August 15, 2023 4:06 AM |
I'm loving that the MSNBC group is enjoying this as much as the rest of us.
by Anonymous | reply 526 | August 15, 2023 4:18 AM |
What happened to Vaughn Hillyard? He looks terrible.
He's aged from a twink to a middle-aged man in about two years.
Too much stress? Trouble at home? Secret meth habit?
by Anonymous | reply 527 | August 15, 2023 5:59 AM |
Maybe he's been working too much. It seems like every time I turn on MSNBC, he's on.
Did Hillyard and his boyfriend ever get married? I fully expected someone here on DL to keep us up to date.
by Anonymous | reply 528 | August 15, 2023 8:22 AM |
Vaughn looked fine yesterday morning on Morning Joe - all perky, smiley and fresh faced.
He seemed especially proud of the fact that Trump had insulted him the day earlier when he was called "Mr. Wise Guy" for asking Trump if he would consider taking a plea deal.
But yesterday was a really long day for Vaughn.
The poor guy just needs a really good night's sleep.
by Anonymous | reply 529 | August 15, 2023 9:08 AM |
Huh, I was just about to compliment Vaughn on stepping up his grooming game. Yes, he's matured, but I thought he looked just fine earlier in the day. Only while still on with Chris Jansing, from outside the courthouse at 1:55 AM, did he appear a little spent. A bit too much sun exposure perhaps.
I don't know any meth addicts. Do they generally look like Vaughn Hillyard?
by Anonymous | reply 530 | August 15, 2023 9:32 AM |
Vaughn and his boyfriend have been "engaged" for quite a while, but there's been no wedding.
Maybe their double-headed dildo wore out, and they're evaluating other options.

When Mika and Joe are clearly both in a studio, but appear to be on different MJ sets, what's going on? Is Joe in DC while Mika's in NYC? Wish they'd identify the location of each participant when it's not obvious.
by Anonymous | reply 533 | August 15, 2023 11:09 AM |
Joe's in Florida, right? Mika probably is too, just in another room.
by Anonymous | reply 534 | August 15, 2023 11:18 AM |
I think Vaughn looks handsomer in his maturity.

Tired of Katie Tur’s feigned “whataboutism.” Undercover Republicunt. I do appreciate Andrea Mitchell’s side eye when Tur tried her “Gee Wilikers” question with our Andrew Weissman.
by Anonymous | reply 541 | August 15, 2023 6:10 PM |
Katie is asking the Trump Supporter questions, in the rare instance a Fox Viewer shows up and needs things explained
S.I.M.P.L.Y and S.L.O.W.L.Y.
by Anonymous | reply 542 | August 15, 2023 7:29 PM |
Chris got the "what dumb shit did you just say" look from Andrea, Katie, and our Andrew W. when she stated that since the Georgia trial, if televised, would have huge ratings and maybe Trump would testify because he likes high ratings. The looks and comments from the panelists were great. Katie asked Jansing if she really thought Trump would jeopardize his case and possibly his freedom by taking the stand because of ratings. Confirms for me what I always thought that Jansing is a lightweight.

Nicolle needs to stop with the "I'm still in the Hamptons for August" look.

by Anonymous | reply 547 | August 15, 2023 9:08 PM |
Nicolle has to be at her Connecticut compound or Hamptons house that is close enough for her to come back to the studio on breaking news days.

Herchmann is sexy as fuck. He has a lot of swagger.

As often happens with these huge trials that are televised, media stars emerge and Andrew Weissmann is clearly the star of this one. I won't be surprised if he has his own MSNBC show by next year.
by Anonymous | reply 560 | August 16, 2023 1:01 PM |
Frequent MSNBC guest commentator, Matt Lewis, has changed his appearance and not for the better. That haircut and how he combs the hair back awkwardly and upwards, doesn’t look attractive. For the tv cameras, some makeup to suppress the redness and shine would help. His facial features are handsome, but he needs cosmetic advice and assistance.

He's 65. A little late in life to launch a TV show. Plus, MSNBC already two legal hosts with Ari Melber and Katie Phang. Weissmann will probably continue contributing to MSNBC and podcasting, but I can't see him getting his own show.

How do we get to Part 49 when the last post was 12 hours ago?
No feedback on this morning’s Morning Joe?
Nothing? Anyone?
Ok, I’ll start.
Mika almost dumped her coffee on Joe’s head when he wouldn’t shut the hell up about golf.
Joe was visibly annoyed when Mika asked guest Alex Moffat about playing Joe on SNL.
Donny asked Alex and Eric McCormack how they manage to “get it up every night” for their play The Cottage”.
by Anonymous | reply 580 | August 17, 2023 5:35 PM |
I doubt that THE COTTAGE saw any new sales at the box office today. That interview really went off the rails and made the play seem even tackier than I'd thought.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | August 17, 2023 6:14 PM |
LOVED the old guy on MJ who brought up Roy Cohn as Dump's mentor and all the parallels between those two vile creeps.
by Anonymous | reply 582 | August 17, 2023 6:16 PM |
Mika and Joe and Donny all seemed highly embarrassed by Eric and Alex exposing their non-presence at the NBC studio. Surely they don't think they've been fooling us?
by Anonymous | reply 583 | August 17, 2023 6:17 PM |
We got to 48 because people post in bursts and sometimes there are lulls. Don't worry, we'll get to 49 smoothly and without duplicates and no fights about who is the original thread. I believe that I am one of three OPs for the MSNBC threads. We all know how to do a proper continuation. We all defer to each other. The main thing is the smooth singular continuation.
by Anonymous | reply 584 | August 17, 2023 6:37 PM |
r583, That's because Joe&M switch between NYC and DC.
