I'm going to try to be balanced about this even though my gut instinct is to feel anger towards Bash. The thing is, short of him being an actual narcissist (which I really, really hope he isn't, just because I couldn't bear the thought of Joe being in a relationship for two years with someone abusive) I don't logically think he would hold any real intent to push Joe to the side today. I think Bash was doing what Bash does; being a social butterfly, attempting to convince everyone including himself that he's fine etc, and possibly being a bit petty/fame whorey by sticking close to Kit throughout the day. I think Joe, with his more introverted personality, deliberately removed himself from that display and just set his focus on getting through the day, interacting with fans where he could, and sticking close to those cast and crew members who saw he was struggling.

Where I'm really angry is the organisation of all of this. I do think Alice, Patrick or an impartial Netflix exec should have been forward thinking about what was likely to happen by putting Bash and Joe on the same float. Bash could have walked along the float with the rest of the cast and still got to do his social butterfly thing and Joe would have been able to just breathe a little more easily and turn on the charm with Kit which we know comes naturally to him. It also would have given Netflix tons more engagement because lbr the vast majority of likes, comments and shares on social media are going to be focused on Joe and Kit.

I just really feel they dropped the ball with this massively today and it mainly comes down to lack of planning.

As someone who has been in that position of breaking up with someone within a friendship circle (mine was a housemate in a very social, queer houseshare, we had to continue living together afterwards, jfc was it hell) I would say that Joe probably isn't sure how much he can share about Bash without it sounding like he's badmouthing him. If Joe was technically the one to break up with Bash (going with the common assumption that there was a mutal break up but Bash changed his mind and expected Joe to come back to him) then Bash is able to act like the 'wronged' party while Joe doesn't get that luxury.

I'm not thrilled with Kit potentially coming down more strongly on Bash's side but at the same time I get it. I think it doesn't help that Bash has been treated pretty horribly by the fandom in the past which has maybe made the cast more protective of him. I fully think Bash has milked that protectiveness for all its worth at this point and he's actively weaponising it now in order to isolate Joe.
