Dlisted is shutting down on June 30

It was never as good after Michael K. reduced his posts and brought on other posters. They didn't quite have his wit. I used to go on that site almost every single day back in the 2000s. By around 2012, I rarely looked at it. I haven't looked at it now in years.

Too bad it went downhill. I wonder how Michael K. will make a living now?

I used to split my time between DL and Dlisted back in its heyday. Last time I peeked the posters seemed very cliquish and nowhere near as witty as before. Seemed liked a binch of clucking fraus took over.

I really hate to hear this. I still look at DListed daily, though I mostly read the Night Crumbs (which Michael K usually writes) and usually skim the rest. Just like DL, it's a shadow of its former self but still can be quite funny at times. I wish Michael K the best and hope he has great things lined up.

R5 I like a lot of the posters there but a few are definitely clucking fraus.

I haven’t looked at it in a decade but my favorite feature was the hot slut of the day—especially when it was an animal.

People loved to rush to comment to a new thread by posting “First!” as if posting the word “first” alone was an accomplishment. So dumb.

So many meme-worthy characters on there. Chicken Cutlets, Detective LaToya, the "Excuse My Beauty" queen, Rojo Caliente to name a few.

And of course, it was so long ago - long enough to be when people actually liked Harry aka Prince Hot Ginge.

Awww! I was big on DListed back in the early days. And like others, I loved news on Detective LaToya and looked for Hot Slut of The Day. I haven’t been to the site in many many years until just now when I saw OP’s link.

I know the podcast went on a long break when Allison got pregnant again and was supposed to come back but I guess not now.

It was a great site back in the day. I’d like to add Khlozilla as another of Michael K’s witty names that stuck with me.

He’d refer to the klan as Kim, Khlozilla, and the slow one, managed by Pimp Momma Kris.

Like everyone else, I loved Dlisted back in the day. Does anyone know anything about Michael K? Who he is, what he looks like, how old he is? I was always curious and just assumed he looked like Tom from MySpace.

Blind Gossip hasn't posted anything new since December, 2022-I am afraid it may be DEAD too!!

Sad to see it go. Like everyone else, I used to look at it daily in the 2000s, but I haven't visited it in years.

I'm kind of surprised it's even still going. Blogs faded in popularity as social media took over the internet in the early 2010s.

R25 Always found Blind Gossip fairly accurate. In one of the last threads a commenter noted something about the site owners health. Hope they're okay.

Dlisted accurately called the K family the Kuntrashians for a long time. But I think it ended up messing with their clicks and their ad $$.

Michael K was/is a really good writer. He's written a few tributes when stars have died that had me weeping and screaming MARY!

The person whoran Blind Gossip had some health problems. Michael will say in his final posting on June 30th why he is closing the gossip site. Dlisted had a writer named Mieka who was very funny, haven't seen a post by her in months.

I haven’t visited that site in so long. Michael’s little asides about his dog used to crack me up. She was very much a little princess.

The posters were very boring.

r45 Yeah, those two queens are pretty insufferable these days. And their once enjoyable podcast is trans, trans, trans all the time, regardless of the topic. I'm T-agnostic, but it got a bit too much even for me once I started noticing it. They were going after that street cred with the Twitter crowd like a couple of teenage girls, it makes me laugh that that's all now circling the drain. Serves them and their "business" right.

I see they are posting over on Reddit but it's mainly new people and not that interesting.

I thought Michael K had sold the site years back and was acting as just another content provider for the site along with all the new folks, and that why his presence there had decreased so much. If so, why is he the one obviously making all the decisions on the future of DListed?

I've noticed more than a few popular entertainment pages/blogs that have apparently suffered battle fatigue over the last couple years, including DListed. I am not a "name" blogger, but i've just started my 8th year, and it's a lot of work. Good luck to MK and what comes next for him...

The wild west of the blog era was swallowed up by the big media companies. Just like the wild west of the early Internet era (mid to late '90s) was swallowed up. And in a way, Social Media Killed the Blog Star.

Tone and attitude has taken a beating in the last ten years...and audience is different...you will be swiftly eliminated today for being "mean."

But of course it has limits because that cunt Chrissy Teigen seems to have bounced back after telling Courtney Stodden to kill herself.

PS: My friend's mother has Alzheimers. The mother (86) is not far gone but in what I refer to as the "cheerful" phase. Forgetful but kind of happy. My friend's aunt (her mother's sister) is visiting. She does not have Alzheimers. She is 84 or 85.

My friend told me her aunt kept being really mean to her mother, saying "You got so fat! You're so chubby! How do you find clothes?" (She gained about 10 lbs over last year.) Anyway, the point of this story is that my friend's kids (17 and 13) were horrified and had never heard anyone tell someone else they were fat—ever. Can you imagine what these children would make of Joan Rivers? Especially Joan Rivers circa 1979 going on about Elizabeth Taylor or Princess Anne?

The thing is, what used to be so enjoyable was the actual focus ON the Dlisters. The Empress of Lucite! Rojo Caliente! Sort of affectionate teasing of some of these people.

These days every Dlisted day has a BRF story, a Kuntrashian story, a Kanye story, and so on. It's doing what other sites do for clicks and hits and not nearly as well as those sites did.

We aren't often getting Hot Sluts of the Day or the like. So it really does seem like a good time to go.

I posted about Dlisted in 2018 to try and find out how it all fell apart (only to see it become even worse). Link below if you are interested, but much is echoed in this thread.

I'm guessing he's made a fair chunk of change over the years, so he can afford to try something new. I hope writing a book is on the list. Those stories he told about his family were fucking hilarious. A few of them did have a wee bit of darkness he would let peek through. He keeps his life very close to the vest for the most part, which intrigues me even more about him. Unlike Frankenberry...I mean "Perez". Barf.

His writing style is fabulous. Aside from his regular posts, no one can write an obituary, of all things, like he can. Informative, sad and funny. I know, like R28 said: MARY! but so true. I wonder if he will write the official last post in that style.

I do hope his health is good, and that the reason(s) for shutting down the joint are positive, happy ones.

Supposedly he and one of his frauettes at Dlisted will do a final podcast talking about the reasons it's shutting down.

He moved to Palm Springs with his latest Chihuahua. Almost all of his writers are Canadian. He's had a lot of vision problems to deal with the past few years, that's all I know. Oh and he's over 6 feet tall.

I haven't read DListed in quite a while. Michael K was very infatuated with Prince Harry back before he married. Did his attitude change after the marriage and the divorce from the Royal clan? I figured he'd be arrested camping out near the Sussex's estate once they moved to Montecito, just waiting for his chance to get a piece of that Royal pudding.

R74 yes, that infatuation died long before the marriage happened. He dialed it down considerably post 2014.

For me it's been gone for some time, but what it contributed to early ought pop-culture will always be remembered.

well it is now. I was getting 404 messages about an hour ago, whenever I tried to link to a page.

It was weird when I clicked the link last night I got the 404 error too but I googled the site and it came up

He said he was going to keep the site up, at least for a while, but turn off commenting and a few other things. He was probably under the hood doing hood rat stuff, because yes it is back up.

Sites and pages will be cached for a bit. Clear your browser history then try.

The new Peckerwood site seems the most traffic is on the Open Post, the same few people talking together.

That Bree Daniels and the bunch that run the Peckerwood site are insufferable. I prefer the DListed Community over at Reddit. But neither is any kind of substitute for D Listed, they should just let it go.

In the end, only Datalounge will stand.
