MSNBC - Part 47

Keep your pants on and wait for MSNBC - Part 46 to close.

I love Claire McCaskill and anything she has under the dome.

by Anonymousreply 600July 7, 2023 4:40 AM

Bump to hold. 15 more posts on Pt 46.

by Anonymousreply 1June 1, 2023 4:47 AM

And away we go!

by Anonymousreply 2June 1, 2023 7:16 PM

Does Claire realize her cakes and pastry under the dome gets more attention than she does ?

Cable ratings are in for May — and they spelled bad news for both Fox News and CNN. Fox News, which angered its audience by firing Tucker Carlson, lost 32% of its total viewers in prime and 44% of its audience in the prime demo from April — a staggering blow to the right-wing network. CNN, which has been suffering from historically low ratings, sunk even further in May, down double digits from April in both total viewers (-16% in prime and -13% in total day) and those in the key 25-54 demo.

MSNBC also slid double digits in viewership from April (-12% in total prime and -10% in total day), but it touted that it had beat CNN in total viewers and the key demo across total day and prime. The progressive network said that it had opened up the largest advantage in total day over CNN in its 27-year history.

May - August are traditionally low ratings months for all networks, which is why (traditionally) all series ended their seasons in early / mid-May and came back after Labor Day.

Nights are longer, weather is warmer - no one is sitting in front of their televisions watching news networks (especially when the news is slow). They're all outside having fun or on vacation.

by Anonymousreply 9June 1, 2023 8:37 PM

Do we think Claire McKaskill bakes her own cakes? Or does she have help?

by Anonymousreply 10June 1, 2023 11:40 PM

R8 Viewership may be down at Fox since Tucker's exit, but they have also regained several respectable and lucrative advertisers, who had previously stayed away because of his noxious bile. The number of eyeballs alone doesn't determine the bottom line.

Of course, they have lost a lot of influence with the whack-job demo.

by Anonymousreply 11June 2, 2023 12:16 AM

R10 - maybe it's Duncan Hines.

by Anonymousreply 12June 2, 2023 12:26 AM

Martha Stewart supplies the cakes.

by Anonymousreply 13June 2, 2023 12:34 AM

Joyce Vance has clearly re-upped her Botox. Looking smooth, unfortunately it shows up problem areas around her neck.

by Anonymousreply 14June 2, 2023 5:14 AM

I believe that Claire is a great home baker.

If she isn't, please don't tell me.

by Anonymousreply 15June 2, 2023 6:23 AM

Claire is also fucking rich & loaded, so maybe she has a baker.

by Anonymousreply 16June 2, 2023 11:02 AM

Claire is as frau as it gets.

by Anonymousreply 17June 2, 2023 3:26 PM

If only most frau were as smart as Claire.

by Anonymousreply 18June 2, 2023 3:41 PM

I get a sense that Morning Joe was given the green light to be more popular news. All this baseball crap that Mika groans through and the Broadway segments seem to lighten up all the Espionage, Sedition and endless, pointless Republican investigations.

by Anonymousreply 19June 2, 2023 8:26 PM

MJ always talked about sports and some TV interspersed with the news.

It's just a reminder that while there's crazy shit going on in politics and in the world, the Yankees and Red Sox are providing games for some in our harried nation to enjoy.

by Anonymousreply 20June 2, 2023 8:49 PM

What was the bit that Joe was alluding to, that Mika kept suggesting was only suitable for off-air?

by Anonymousreply 21June 2, 2023 10:11 PM

R21 Elliot Page's new accusations.

by Anonymousreply 22June 2, 2023 10:19 PM

I'm loving the Broadway segments on MJ. And it's fun how they eve make grouchy Lemire participate in them.

by Anonymousreply 23June 2, 2023 11:08 PM

I've stopped watching Way Too Early and grab old episodes of America's Test Kitchen on Pluto TV until MJ begins.

by Anonymousreply 24June 2, 2023 11:26 PM

Political commentator David Plouffe is on Alex Wagner tonight, and suddenly my dick wakes up and starts paying attention. Yum !

by Anonymousreply 25June 3, 2023 1:50 AM

Plouffe did look plouffier tonight. My dick woke up a bit, too.

by Anonymousreply 26June 3, 2023 2:41 AM

Why is there not more love for the hot daddy Glenn Kirschner here??

by Anonymousreply 27June 3, 2023 2:42 AM

I love Glenn. He is very well researched.

by Anonymousreply 28June 3, 2023 3:16 AM

Glenn is wonderfully articulate and exudes male energy. For some reason I have a feeling Harry Lippman may be a complete freak in the sheets. But what do I know? I've always been hot for nerdy articulate guys.

by Anonymousreply 29June 3, 2023 3:23 AM

Oops....realized I misspelled his last name. Harry LITMAN floods Mama's basement.

by Anonymousreply 30June 3, 2023 3:27 AM

I am really liking Weekend Morning Joe.

I go to bed after Katie Fang.

by Anonymousreply 31June 3, 2023 10:56 AM

Glenn on with Jonathan Capehart right now!

by Anonymousreply 32June 3, 2023 1:30 PM
I've stopped watching Way Too Early

R24 Me too, but I continue to record it, and scroll through for the occasional interesting guest.

When Danny Cevallos is on MJ, he often makes an appearance, with camera angles usually showing his full form.

Also for some reason I really like Julliana Tatelbaum, in the CNBC segments from London, although she's now the designated reporter too infrequently. She and Lemire actually have a nice chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 33June 3, 2023 11:56 PM

CNN's Early Start is much better than Way Too Early. I switch back to Morning Joe at 6.

by Anonymousreply 34June 3, 2023 11:58 PM

I'll check it out, rarely watch anything live these days. Is that with Boris?

by Anonymousreply 35June 4, 2023 12:01 AM

R33 - full form Danny Cevallos is always a good thing.

by Anonymousreply 36June 4, 2023 12:06 AM

Kristen Walker has been underutilized on NBC, so this is a good move.

by Anonymousreply 42June 4, 2023 4:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 43June 4, 2023 7:02 PM

Is Symone on Ozempic? She is wearing white today and doesn't look like a drive-in movie theater screen.

by Anonymousreply 44June 4, 2023 8:12 PM

Welker got her start in my hometown 20 years ago, working for a low-rated ABC affiliate at the time. (This station has been a distant third from the other local stations for as long as I can recall). Everyone knew she had a brighter future ahead of her - she only lasted at this local station for two years. From here she went to an NBC station / affiliate in NYC and then on to MSNBC.

by Anonymousreply 48June 5, 2023 1:06 AM
Is Symone on Ozempic?

I hope she is. There’s no reason for someone who’s 32 to be as morbidly obese as she is.

by Anonymousreply 50June 5, 2023 1:09 AM

Except her Indian half is Native American Indian,

by Anonymousreply 51June 5, 2023 1:12 AM

Kristen Welker is not Indian, although she does look it. She's black/white biracial.

And just now, the mutual admiration society between Mitchell and Kristin Welker. Geezuz, you'd think that Welker had just found the cure for cancer, not gotten a promotion. These media people are so fucking unaware of their egos.

by Anonymousreply 56June 5, 2023 4:25 PM

Maddow time!

by Anonymousreply 62June 6, 2023 1:08 AM

Handsome Van Grack was her guest on the 'Trump' grand jury topic. My dick responded as soon as he came on my television screen.

by Anonymousreply 63June 6, 2023 2:04 AM

Handsome Van Grack should be his name.

by Anonymousreply 64June 6, 2023 5:21 AM

Jen might want to consider co-opting the All In makeup & lighting people for her weekend show.

by Anonymousreply 65June 6, 2023 6:12 AM

I agree Van Grack is very handsome but I get the impression he’s somewhat lacking in the personality department. Perhaps he’s still not very comfortable with appearing on TV.

by Anonymousreply 66June 6, 2023 7:09 AM

Nice block on Morning Joe about about closeted presidential candidate Tim Scott, going at it with Sunny on ABC'S The View.

by Anonymousreply 67June 6, 2023 11:19 AM

LOL I obsessed over Brandon VanGrack also, and see that's he is married, and graduated from college in 2001, so he is early 40's. He is beautiful, and should have his own MSNBC show seven days a week.

by Anonymousreply 68June 6, 2023 11:49 AM

I agree about Jen Psaki, she looked better than ever subbing for Chris last night. I even wondered if she might be wearing a wig as the color and sheen was so much healthier looking.

by Anonymousreply 69June 6, 2023 12:49 PM

I am Jen Psakied out. Every time I turn on MSNBC, she's on my screen. She seems to be a 'guest' on every program they air. I guess MSNBC is really pushing to make her the 'face' of the network ?

As for Handsome Van Greck, I'm guessing he wouldn't pass up a big dick if it came his way.

by Anonymousreply 70June 6, 2023 12:54 PM

More Psaki, More Psaki, More Psaki!

by Anonymousreply 71June 6, 2023 1:25 PM

R66 Yes Van Grack is still a little stiff, he's loosened up considerably from his earliest appearances. Those were remarkable for how kid-in-the-principal's-office he looked - and everyone treated him like a delicate flower. Now at least he can smile.

But his resting face vacillates between stoic and stricken.

by Anonymousreply 72June 6, 2023 11:09 PM

Chris Hayes referred to the former rivalry between the PGA and Liv golf tournaments as "high dungeon".

Guess he's a D&D player - or possibly he's into dungeons.

by Anonymousreply 73June 7, 2023 4:14 AM

No, but it verifies that Chris is straight.

It takes a gay to be in high dudgeon.

by Anonymousreply 75June 7, 2023 12:12 PM
And just now, the mutual admiration society between Mitchell and Kristin Welker. Geezuz, you'd think that Welker had just found the cure for cancer, not gotten a promotion

R70, that's funny because I really only see her on Sundays.

Although I don't watch the primetime line up as much as I used to when they started refusing to cover any other politics besides BREAKING NEWS: TRUMP.......

Chris Christie's political capital was erased by Rachel's covering of Bridgegate. They should have reran those segments right after he announced....

Give Nicolle a vacation, and have Jen show her real talent moderating "Deadline: White House."

by Anonymousreply 78June 7, 2023 7:57 PM

Baldie hunk Paul Rieckhoff is so hot! He looks like a former NFL player. That smile! Why is he not a DL fave here?

by Anonymousreply 79June 7, 2023 8:57 PM

Niolle is PHENOMINAL moderating Deadline White House.

by Anonymousreply 80June 7, 2023 10:59 PM

R78 I'm hoping Christie can stick around long enough to issue some classic burns to both Trump and DeSantis.

In their presence.

by Anonymousreply 81June 8, 2023 12:40 AM

MSNBC is calling in all legal analysts and even brought in Rachel and Nicolle over the phone.

by Anonymousreply 82June 9, 2023 12:23 AM

What, was Rachel even too lazy to haul on a black jacket and cammie and zoom in?

by Anonymousreply 83June 9, 2023 12:35 AM

Rachel can't even drag her lazy ass into the studio tonight? She's known all day that this indictment was imminent.

by Anonymousreply 84June 9, 2023 12:35 AM

They're advertising Rachel will be on with Lawrence tonight but what form do we think it will take?

by Anonymousreply 85June 9, 2023 1:33 AM

On the Mark Meadows thread Glenn Kirschner was getting a lot of attention because of a video that was linked in which he explained the issues so clearly. And also because he's so fucking hot.

Why do you think Glenn never seems to be the first, second or third lawyer brought on by MSNBC to chat? He's usually only called upon after Joyce Vance, Andrew Weissmann, Barb McQuade, Neal Katyal, Melissa Murray, and a couple of others. And I like them all....but why not some more of Glenn?

Any other fans?

by Anonymousreply 86June 9, 2023 1:38 AM

Handsome Van Grack is on Alex Wagner tonight ! I have no idea what he's saying because I gaze at his handsome face (and my dick gets bigger).

by Anonymousreply 87June 9, 2023 1:40 AM

Van Grack is handsome but he seems so timid. Almost mousey. No wonder the Mueller Report had so little effect.

by Anonymousreply 88June 9, 2023 1:43 AM

They pulled Rachel away from her fishing trip to do this. No Maddow Wig to slap on her.

by Anonymousreply 89June 9, 2023 2:18 AM

R89 She appears to be in a studio someplace. She definitely didn't do her own makeup that's for sure. And there's a projection of official Last Word graphics behind her. From the waist down she may still be in waders.

Andrew Weissmann looking very bronzed.

by Anonymousreply 90June 9, 2023 5:37 AM

Joy said she thinks her Rachel and Nicolle are probably doing a panel soon like this last indictment.

by Anonymousreply 91June 9, 2023 9:42 AM

I just don't like Jonathon Lemire.

by Anonymousreply 92June 9, 2023 9:52 AM

It looks like George Conway is on the Selmaglutide.

He is looking better in the face and his blowfish neck is now a skin drape.

Love Morning Joe.

by Anonymousreply 93June 9, 2023 10:38 AM

Jonathan Lemire would blow Trump & Joe S. if he could.

by Anonymousreply 94June 9, 2023 10:44 AM

R93 It really does seem to be working for him. I'm surprised he doesn't have more of a wattle considering the size of his former quadruple chins.

Dumped Kellyanne and not looking back.

by Anonymousreply 95June 9, 2023 12:03 PM

Did they let Willie talk in the first hour? Mika kept interrupting Claire and Jen, in a manic way.

by Anonymousreply 96June 9, 2023 12:05 PM

Claire looks like a woman who should be named "Kitty". Maybe it's the plastic surgery she has had that gives her a cat face ?

R103, I thinks he looks hotter with the scruffy look.

by Anonymousreply 104June 9, 2023 1:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 115June 9, 2023 8:13 PM

I LOVE my MSNBC regulars - and today seeing them all together, scanning through the indictment, laughing and knowing the most evil, contentious creep who ever was President, is going to burn at the stake, is the best thing ever. Oh, and having Brandon McGrack there, too.

by Anonymousreply 116June 9, 2023 8:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 117June 9, 2023 8:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 118June 9, 2023 9:01 PM

"Gurlfriend, you need a better ratched wig ! And wear something white tonight and show your titties. And tone down that eye shadow for Lord's sake !"

by Anonymousreply 128June 9, 2023 11:18 PM

The set is horrendous.

by Anonymousreply 129June 10, 2023 12:18 AM

I don't know why Maddow seemed defensive about suggesting Trump might plead out.

When I read the entire indictment, I thought the same thing. They've nailed Trump because Trump nailed himself first.

by Anonymousreply 130June 10, 2023 12:25 AM

Trump may plead out if Mr. Smith gets him to roll on his "Republicans in Congress" who enacted the Sedition and Coup Conspiracy. Meadows rolls on Trump and Trump rolls on the Republicans in Congress and, voila, Mr. Smith can indict the 140 Republicans who voted to send the 2020 election back to the states and to the House.

by Anonymousreply 131June 10, 2023 1:20 AM

How did none of these people expect they would be called in? She was at a party, Maddow was fishing in a river. Aren’t they in the NEWS business? They all knew that the Dump indictment was about to drop any minute.

by Anonymousreply 137June 10, 2023 1:53 PM

R237 No one knew it was going to be unsealed yesterday; it took everyone by surprise. No one knew Smith would be having a press conference yesterday, either.

They thought it was going to be unsealed and a PC on Tuesday, the day of his arraignment - so this should've been a rather quiet Friday night for reporters.

Only FOX NEWS carried on as though it was just an ordinary summer Friday afternoon.

by Anonymousreply 138June 10, 2023 2:02 PM

I was surprised everything went down so quickly, meaning on Friday. I also believed it was going to go down next week.

by Anonymousreply 139June 10, 2023 2:23 PM

R139 As I mentioned before everyone expected next Tuesday (Monday night the earliest). There were no leaks or indications to any press that it was happening yesterday.

by Anonymousreply 140June 10, 2023 2:28 PM

PS - This is a testimony to how good Jack Smith is running these investigations and has control over his office and team !

by Anonymousreply 147June 10, 2023 10:36 PM

I hope Ari and Ali don't ever get married.

by Anonymousreply 148June 10, 2023 10:41 PM

Ari Vitali is annoying.

by Anonymousreply 151June 11, 2023 2:41 PM

Sexy Ken Dilanian has been losing too much weight. He needs to put on a few pounds and get to the gym. He looked incredible during the COVID years - maybe that was his COVID weight ?

by Anonymousreply 152June 11, 2023 3:06 PM

Joyce Vance is on Velshi this morning talking about Judge Aileen Cannon. Lucky for viewers, she found the shampoo and hair conditioner.

by Anonymousreply 153June 11, 2023 3:57 PM

What did Joyce say about Aileen? Should we be worried?

by Anonymousreply 154June 11, 2023 5:47 PM

R154 No, not really. She more or less explained how Cannon got picked to be the judge in this case - it wasn't rigged by Trump or his team. The impression I got from her (she chose her words carefully) was that everything should be fine and she doesn't think she'll overstep her boundaries.

by Anonymousreply 155June 11, 2023 6:06 PM

Ken Dilanian is on again now, live from Miami and he's now changed into an open collar black polo shirt. It's unbuttoned enough where we can see a little hair peeping out from his chest. Yum ! I'd like some photos of him on the Miami beach getting tanned.

by Anonymousreply 156June 11, 2023 6:08 PM

Well, the possible and hopeful side here is that tRump will be found guilty (honestly, how could he not with that pile of evidence?) and Dems can point to his own judge ruling over the case.

by Anonymousreply 157June 11, 2023 6:09 PM

These Anchors/Correspondents/Contributors are getting more casual with the attire.

Love my men in a tie on TV.

by Anonymousreply 158June 11, 2023 6:29 PM

In Florida heat and humidity, r158?
No one knew it was going to be unsealed yesterday; it took everyone by surprise.

Right after Trump said he was getting indicted, Joyce Vance tweeted that she hoped Smith would call Trump's bluff and unseal the indictment. And boom! He did. Good tactic that curbed Trump's ability to spin for five days until his court appearance. The sheer number of counts and the pictures are going to be clinchers for a lot of people. And the recordings which were made with Trump's knowledge by Meadows' ghostwriters.

by Anonymousreply 159June 11, 2023 6:45 PM

She only needs to stall and delay, issuing rulings that would be perfectly normal and reasonable for any other case, and the MAGA objective will be achieved.

by Anonymousreply 160June 11, 2023 7:47 PM

Symone looks fetching today!

by Anonymousreply 163June 11, 2023 10:29 PM

They got our girl Psaki doing double duty this weekend. She flipped from her usual white blazer to a red one for the evening.... her pussy's on fire!

I'm begging for a Jim Jordan, Lindsey Graham somebody to go toe to toe with her...

by Anonymousreply 164June 11, 2023 11:22 PM

Is Psaki’s pussy really a fire crotch 🔥

by Anonymousreply 165June 12, 2023 12:51 AM

Or every time a contributor says "Look, ..."

Because they're about to make THE definitive observation.

by Anonymousreply 166June 12, 2023 1:18 AM

Or whenever Weissman says SOOOOOOO.

by Anonymousreply 167June 12, 2023 1:20 AM

Except Weissmann says sewwwwwwwww........

by Anonymousreply 168June 12, 2023 1:31 AM

R168 He does say it like that, lol.

by Anonymousreply 169June 12, 2023 1:41 AM

Weissman's the one with the fabulous apartment, right?

by Anonymousreply 170June 12, 2023 1:58 AM

Yes, though lately he seems to be zooming from a small rather undecorated office. Maybe he was hearing some weird comments.

by Anonymousreply 171June 12, 2023 2:08 AM

R97, to be specific she looks like a mama cat.

Firm hand, but kind, sweet round face. I like it; reminds me of my Swyrlena.

by Anonymousreply 173June 12, 2023 4:16 AM

by Anonymousreply 174June 12, 2023 4:26 AM

Molly Jong Fast, obviously.

by Anonymousreply 175June 12, 2023 4:28 AM

Joe S. in an actual studio!

Soo much better when they are all at the table.

by Anonymousreply 176June 12, 2023 11:35 AM

I could see MJF and Eddie Glaude hooking up. They're sympatico.

by Anonymousreply 177June 12, 2023 12:06 PM

I am so tired of Michael Schmidt and his irritating voice and that stupid top he always wears. He is so arrogant and condescending with absolutely zero personality.

by Anonymousreply 178June 12, 2023 2:42 PM

And Schmidt is married to Nicolle Wallace , who seems so different than him. Strange bedfellows, I guess. What is that fleece thing he wears all the time, and is he trying to separate himself from every other contributor wearing a suit? Otherwise, it's ugly.

Doesn't it seem that it should be mentioned by Nicolle when Schmidt appears that he is her husband? Or is that an antiquated idea of full disclosure?

I can't imagine tat they never discuss this political shit at home.

by Anonymousreply 181June 12, 2023 4:37 PM

The ever-sexy Ali Arouzi was on with Andrea Mitchell today. My God, that guy just oozes gay sex through my TV screen. And he was showing some chest hair with his open shirt. Please, tell me he's gay !

by Anonymousreply 182June 12, 2023 4:40 PM

They have, R179 on a couple of occasions that I've heard firsthand. Not sure how often it needs to be repeated, if ever.

by Anonymousreply 187June 12, 2023 8:53 PM

I see no Delanian chest hair at r186.

by Anonymousreply 188June 12, 2023 11:42 PM
What is that fleece thing he wears all the time

Frequently referred to as a "half-zip". He's got a whole collection, it's like his uniform, he's been working them for years.

They seem to have become more popular recently for men in media. With or without a necktie, popped collar or no, a way to appear somewhat, but not too casual.

by Anonymousreply 189June 13, 2023 12:05 AM

Maddow time!

by Anonymousreply 190June 13, 2023 1:03 AM

Isn't a "half-zip" one of George Santos' favorite looks? One more reason to despise it.

by Anonymousreply 191June 13, 2023 2:58 AM

I love those zips but the kind that zip all the way down and are called hoodless hoodies. I wear them all the time, cotton jersey in summer and wool jersey in winter. They keep my long neck warm and frame my handsome aging face very nicely. Very flattering.

by Anonymousreply 192June 13, 2023 3:00 AM

R188, that’s not the report I saw. He was wearing a black polo and had all the top buttons undone.

It wasn’t much hair, but still kinda sexy.

by Anonymousreply 193June 13, 2023 3:32 AM

Conor Lamb on Stephanie's show tonight. He's so beautiful. He really should be in movies instead of politics.

by Anonymousreply 194June 13, 2023 3:56 AM

R193 That's what I saw, too, and originally posted. The black polo was completely unbuttoned, and you could see a little chest hair peeking out. Tells me he probably has hair on his lower pecs and lightly around his nipples, only. Maybe a treasure trail on his torso.

by Anonymousreply 195June 13, 2023 2:58 PM

I think Ken's wife is Asian or Filipino.

by Anonymousreply 196June 13, 2023 4:20 PM

Delanian always reminds me of a former altarboy, one who seriously considered entering the seminary.

by Anonymousreply 197June 13, 2023 8:15 PM

You can tell it takes all of Katie Tur’s effort to not interrupt Andrea Mitchell and cut her off.

I sense tension between those two.

And my tension- dar is reliable.

by Anonymousreply 198June 13, 2023 8:59 PM

Katie Tur has trained her eyes not to roll.

by Anonymousreply 199June 13, 2023 9:13 PM

I suspect that Katy Tur is a closet bitch. She is probably abusive to staff and people on set as soon as the camera is off.

by Anonymousreply 200June 13, 2023 10:16 PM

Katy Tur has Daddy issues.

by Anonymousreply 201June 13, 2023 10:19 PM

r200, rumor has it that’s exactly how she is to her staff. I’ve never cared for her.

by Anonymousreply 202June 13, 2023 10:24 PM

She has a hot husband!

by Anonymousreply 203June 13, 2023 10:34 PM

Joy Reid is absolutely pissed that no mug shot was taken of Trump today.

by Anonymousreply 204June 13, 2023 11:12 PM

R196, you do know what that means here on the DL. You may have a shot.

by Anonymousreply 205June 13, 2023 11:15 PM

Who’s this on Joy’s show today sweating like a ho in church? 😂😂😂

by Anonymousreply 206June 13, 2023 11:31 PM

R200 I hadn't watched Katy Tur in some time. I was struck by how when speaking to camera, she now seems to strive to be super low-key. So chill.

It reminds me of when Jane Pauley & Bryant Gumbel used to compete to see who could be more "subdued" on air. Just before they were canned.

by Anonymousreply 207June 14, 2023 12:13 AM

I'm in love with legal contributor Anthony Coley. I want to lick him from head to toe, and pay close attention to his cock and ballsack. Thank You.

by Anonymousreply 209June 14, 2023 1:02 AM

Chris Hughes is an embarrassment. Sit still and try to act mature. The women on the panel always make him look like a desperate wannabe trying to be accepted. I will admit he is a bright guy, but it is hard to take him seriously when his body is constantly moving like he has to pee. iWatch the looks Ari will give him if he is on at the same time. It will be pure distaste and Chris always looks to be intimidated by Ari. Again, Chris is an intelligent man, but he has to settle down with the theatrics.

by Anonymousreply 210June 14, 2023 1:13 AM

R210 I'm sure you meant Chris Hayes. That's interesting, my read has always been that Ari is intimidated by Chris.

by Anonymousreply 211June 14, 2023 1:17 AM

Everyone except Rachel is intimidated by Chris Hayes. They should be, he's packing a giant brain in that big, round skull.

by Anonymousreply 212June 14, 2023 1:21 AM

Chris is great, and tightly wound.

by Anonymousreply 213June 14, 2023 1:21 AM

Rachel’s nose contour!

by Anonymousreply 214June 14, 2023 2:03 AM

I think Hayes is on the spectrum, or an Aspie baby. He's so uncomfortable when others are in his 'space'. He does better when he's by himself reading a prompter.

by Anonymousreply 215June 14, 2023 2:18 AM

You must not remember him back when he did the weekend morning show, r215. He was always with people and great with them.

The muffins of death always cracked me up. He was younger and a bit looser in those days. Getting married and spawning made him more uptight.

by Anonymousreply 216June 14, 2023 2:40 AM

All of a sudden, Brandon Van Grack has started to smile a lot more. Looks nice on him.

by Anonymousreply 217June 14, 2023 5:36 AM

I find Chris Hayes to be perfectly poised and composed on set. When others are speaking he listens intently. When speaking he may gesture slightly, always controlled. His statements are cogent and well thought out. He's at his most animated when he's finding the humor, absurdity, or hypocrisy in a topic. I don't get any of the dissociative or detached qualities you'd find from someone on the spectrum. Nor is he wired or amped up. He's just a really smart, eloquent guy.

My impressions may be influenced by the fact that I live with a number of native-born Italian people.

by Anonymousreply 218June 14, 2023 7:33 AM

I don't think Chris' wife would marry, let alone has tons of kids with a man who's autistic or an Aspie. Think of the children.

by Anonymousreply 219June 14, 2023 7:38 AM

Sorry, meant "have tons...:

by Anonymousreply 220June 14, 2023 7:38 AM

John Heilemann resurfaces!!!

Still without his wedding ring 🤔

by Anonymousreply 221June 14, 2023 10:07 AM

Vaugh Hillyiard is on 'Morning Joe' now. He's wearing a black shirt unbuttoned enough to see his chest - unfortunately, he has nothing to show. He looks like a smoothie. Probably a natural smoothie who doesn't have to shave.

by Anonymousreply 222June 14, 2023 12:21 PM

I love Chris' passion. It's the difference between him and Alex Wagner and some of the day time anchors.

by Anonymousreply 223June 14, 2023 12:31 PM

Kier Simmons gives me a tingle in the naughty bits.

by Anonymousreply 224June 14, 2023 1:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 225June 14, 2023 2:46 PM

They all wear them, except for Mika Scarborough.

by Anonymousreply 226June 14, 2023 2:48 PM

Michael Steele takes Chris Jansing out!

She seems to like the clickbait Republican talking points.

by Anonymousreply 227June 14, 2023 5:42 PM

I really like Michael Steele and yes, he did take Chris Jansing out. He corrected her use of the word "'negative" to describe a GOP US Rep who spoke the truth about Donald.

by Anonymousreply 228June 14, 2023 7:31 PM

I like when Alicia Menendez subs for Chris Hayes, feels more like a familiar format for her.

They couldn't have got Jen to come in? Alicia sounds like she's got bruising from sucking too much dick.

by Anonymousreply 229June 14, 2023 9:07 PM

Poor Nicolle must have collapsed. Has the day off.

by Anonymousreply 230June 14, 2023 9:16 PM

Where’s Nikki?

by Anonymousreply 231June 14, 2023 9:32 PM

Pulling Christie's foot from her ass.

by Anonymousreply 232June 14, 2023 10:13 PM

I agree about Katy Tur. I used to like her when she was new, up until just after her Twitler book came out. You can tell it kills her to bite her tongue or not roll her eyes. She seemed to become embittered around the time her memoir came out and all the fall out from her troubled relationship with her father ensued. Her politics also seemed to have drifted (she’s no partisan Dem). I’m most interested in Yasmin Vossughian. I have been shocked in the past about her cuntiness to others on air. She can be very cutting and dismissive. TBH, I’m surprised she’s still around. On the poz side, I love Rachel and Nicolle and all the hawt guys.

by Anonymousreply 233June 14, 2023 11:23 PM

I know I'll get flamed for this, but Tur seemed to become mean after she had her child.

by Anonymousreply 234June 15, 2023 12:57 AM

Tur was always mean, imo, she became meaner after she had the kid. Either she doesn't enjoy being a parent (lots of people don't) or she doesn't enjoy something else - husband/job/whatever.

by Anonymousreply 235June 15, 2023 2:17 AM

Is there a Steph Ruhle fan club around the DL? She is funny as hell, irreverent, smart, sometimes seems tipsy, occasionally makes odd wardrobe choices, and her wig/weave is occasionally (tonight) askew! She’s also one of the most pro-LGBT anchors at MSNBC. Luff huh.

by Anonymousreply 236June 15, 2023 5:04 AM

Yes, I like Stephanie a lot. At first I didn't think she would be a good replacement for Brian but she's definitely won me over, primarily for all of the reasons cited by R236.

by Anonymousreply 237June 15, 2023 5:09 AM

Yes, LOVE Steph. Girl is a HOT mess, but she's ALWAYS got the tea!

Definitely needed her own show.

by Anonymousreply 238June 15, 2023 7:23 AM

Me too. Love Stephanie when I heard her children helped with her hair and wardrobe and CAMERA during the Great Remote. She is a fierce advocate for children. Health care, education, family leave, daycare, and she is the best financial and business expert on MSNBC. Plus, her Friday show is possibly the most entertaining free for all on the network. It is the best way to end the week. Did I mention that I love her.

by Anonymousreply 239June 15, 2023 7:41 AM

Another huge Stephanie fan for all the reasons already stated. I only wish her show was on a little earlier.

by Anonymousreply 240June 15, 2023 10:52 AM

Here on the West Coast I watch her at 8pm and if it is an excellent show, I catch the repeat at 11pm.

by Anonymousreply 241June 15, 2023 11:40 AM

Nicolle is a totally different person than she was on “The View”.

by Anonymousreply 242June 15, 2023 11:43 AM

WHET Jeremy Peters?

by Anonymousreply 243June 15, 2023 11:44 AM

Don’t get the love for Stephanie. I think she’s rude and quite frankly, a bit performative.

by Anonymousreply 244June 15, 2023 4:48 PM

Stephanie is aggressive, but calls out ppl when other anchors just let it slide. Plus she knows her shit, but takes alot time off. Think she misses that 9am timeslot on Summer Fridays.

But now she gets to sit at the primetime table, something Katy Tur will never get to do.

by Anonymousreply 245June 15, 2023 4:56 PM

Nicolle was timid and out of place on 'The View', though Whoopi looked out for her (and to this day, Nicolle still considers Whoopi one of her best friends). Nicolle was often bullied by Rosie O'Donell back then (what a surprise) and knew that gig wasn't for her.

by Anonymousreply 246June 15, 2023 5:06 PM

Who is this current anchor on the air now?

I hate that red, large lace, sleeveless, low cut neckline top or dress top she’s wearing.

by Anonymousreply 247June 15, 2023 5:51 PM

And the black, sheer, halter top on the other person is hateworthy, too.

And before anybody accuses me of wanting Taliban burkas on women, no I don’t.

I don’t want see that amount of flesh anybody, male, female, binary, non-binary, what-have-you, when I’m watching them present current events/news.

by Anonymousreply 248June 15, 2023 5:59 PM

Speaking of too much flesh, I always wonder why my local news anchors who are young females with blonde hair, big tits and fake teeth always have to wear skimpy sundresses on air, baring their shoulders, cleavage and legs (they all stand in front of a wall to give the news). Even the meteorologists.

Meanwhile, the young handsome male anchors, reporters and meteorologists are buttoned up to their chins in suits. Put those guys in muscles shirts and tank tops !!!

by Anonymousreply 249June 15, 2023 7:17 PM

Stephanie is the perfect combination of visually entertaining and intellectually stimulating.

Her Friday weekend recap is the best thing on cable.

Her guests are smart and far-flung.

She challenges them.

by Anonymousreply 250June 15, 2023 7:58 PM

Katy Tur got passed over a few times for primetime.

She used to be fun and cool on the air, now she is a sourpuss, pro-republican.

by Anonymousreply 251June 15, 2023 10:49 PM

R250

Except when Stephanie has George Hahn on the Night Cap.

He may be good at making instagram videos, but he cannot do a tv panel for his life, plus he does not come off as intelligent.

by Anonymousreply 252June 15, 2023 10:51 PM
the young handsome male anchors, reporters and meteorologists are buttoned up to their chins in suits. Put those guys in muscles shirts and tank tops !!!

Now we're talking!

by Anonymousreply 253June 15, 2023 11:11 PM

For the Stephanie fans, and I'm one, when would you ideally like to see her show scheduled? I wonder if she could make a better go of 9 pm than Alex Wagner?

by Anonymousreply 254June 15, 2023 11:26 PM

May have been mentioned, she's on at 8 & 11 PT. For me, I still prefer to watch her at 11.

by Anonymousreply 255June 16, 2023 12:55 AM

I will make the time…whenever she is on. I also tape her.

by Anonymousreply 256June 16, 2023 1:13 AM

They should bump Alex to NBC Now and move Katie Fang into her spot. A female, Asian, mom, attorney should argument Rachel.

by Anonymousreply 257June 16, 2023 1:14 AM

I'm surprised by all the Steph-love here. I've never been able to stand her. When she worked with Velshi she was almost tolerable as co-host. On her own I can't take it. I caught her on Indictment Day with Rachel, Nicole and Joy, I think Alex Wagner was there too. Anyway, I thought Stephanie looked pinched and as usual she was wound too tight. Obviously that is not a majority opinion here at the moment. Still, that was my impression and she's always struck me as rather strident.

by Anonymousreply 258June 16, 2023 1:56 AM
she's always struck me as rather strident.
she’s rude and quite frankly, a bit performative

It doesn't bother me, but there is the sense that she has to work a bit at upholding her Jersey-girl image.

by Anonymousreply 259June 16, 2023 2:57 AM

R258, She has a panel of DRAG QUEENS on tonight.

Who does that?

Our Stephanie. She's already a DL Fave,!

by Anonymousreply 260June 16, 2023 3:03 AM

Drag queens?? I see Ryan Reilly and his adorable dimples, Neal Katyal and that fine swoonable bit of chest hair crawling out of his collar and Leanne Caldwell and her Michelle Williams hairdo.

by Anonymousreply 261June 16, 2023 3:06 AM

Oh, and Juanita Toliver isn't a Drag, Queen.

by Anonymousreply 262June 16, 2023 3:25 AM

Are you sure, R262?

by Anonymousreply 263June 16, 2023 4:50 AM

Jonathan Lemire’s word salad about his favorite, Trump.

by Anonymousreply 264June 16, 2023 10:30 AM

When Neal Katyal started on MSNBC years ago, he was quite the looker - really handsome guy. Now he's in his 50s (53 to be exact) and it looks like he let himself go during the pandemic - he has really aged quite a bit. I'd still do him (especially with the promise of a nice hairy chest) but he's not as sexy as he once was.

by Anonymousreply 265June 16, 2023 1:10 PM

R265

Neal Katyal might look a lot better if he didn't place his face/head so close to the camera. Though someone may have finally talked to him about it because all his appearances this week in a hotel were much better.

by Anonymousreply 266June 16, 2023 1:19 PM

Does no other photo or film footage of that cunt Judge Aileen Cannon exist except for her college year book portrait? I'd love to see something else of her to try and get a better sense of who she is.

by Anonymousreply 267June 16, 2023 1:23 PM

I think it’s always so sexy when Neal Katyal has a bed in the background.

by Anonymousreply 268June 16, 2023 1:25 PM

Neal Katyal's HAMILTON poster makes me hard!

by Anonymousreply 269June 16, 2023 1:31 PM

R268 I always hope he has a hot young stud in the bed - complete with 'tented sheet' between his legs - waiting for him.

R267 You think they're going to share recent posts of her in a white hood and white sheet attending her KKK meetings ?

by Anonymousreply 270June 16, 2023 2:56 PM

r270, no, of course, not. But honestly are we ever going to hear this woman, who is literally holding the future of this country in her hands, interviewed?

by Anonymousreply 271June 16, 2023 10:48 PM

She doesn't hold the future of the country in her hands , R271. She currently holds just one set of charges against Donald in her hands. She doesn't mean jackshit in DC, New York, New Jersey and least of all Georgia.

There are plenty of trials and tribulations to come for Fuckface von Clownstick.

Do you remember "Bonfire of the Vanities?" In the end of the book the guy becomes a professional defendant. All he does is go to court all the time. That's Trumpty Dumpty for at least the next several years.

Justice delayed is justice denied. Bannon was finally sentenced for his contempt charges, and his appeal is still underway. His criminal fraud case isn't even set to begin until next May. Trump and his cronies may be clowns, but they know how to work the system.

by Anonymousreply 273June 16, 2023 11:30 PM

And yet that system is still right here in their fat fucking faces, constantly pursuing them. It's a master class in making them miserable and showing no signs of fatigue. This is very pleasing.

I'll be satisfied if they hound them to death, literally until they fucking stroke out.

by Anonymousreply 274June 16, 2023 11:34 PM

Once they get rid of the filibuster, I hope they extend the Statute of limitations on any crime connected to Trump, the Insurrection or the Sedition.

I don't remember, I read that book so long ago. Was the character able to turn his legal woes into a never ending multi-million dollar torrent of cash?

by Anonymousreply 276June 16, 2023 11:38 PM

I want Trump to be held accountable for BIRTHERISM. I want to see Obama sue him for slander and defamation.

by Anonymousreply 277June 16, 2023 11:39 PM

R276, it wasn't for an avalanche of cash. It was for more neurotic, fucked up reasons. He was suing everyone who had been in any way connected to the original accident and any other goddamn thing he could think of. He became consumed by the court system and his victimization (both real and imagined) to the exclusion of all else.

At least that's how I remember it. I haven't read it in so many years I'll probably read it again and realize that was a completely messed up version of the story.

by Anonymousreply 278June 16, 2023 11:55 PM
Weissman's the one with the fabulous apartment, right?

Yes. In one episode of his podcast, Prosecuting Donald Trump, he shares that on a big news day he recently spent at MSNBC from early in the AM until 11 at night, his poor pooch had to forgo a walk for those many hours. But apparently it does have excellent bladder control.

Sooooooo, does he live all alone - except for his canine companion?

In the podcast series he really loosens up quite a bit - the sibilant s's are flying. He even gets a bit giddy, in comparison to his co-host Mary McCord. It's a good listen.

this interview is painful too watch.

katie phang is an awful anchor and interviewer.

by Anonymousreply 289June 17, 2023 12:24 PM

Katie Phang is a great legal analyst. Unfortunately that does not translate to anchor.

Ari Melber on the other hand is an amazing anchor.

MSNBC needs to cut Katie loose.

by Anonymousreply 290June 17, 2023 1:03 PM

At what point in the day does Ari Melber decide if he will shave or not?

His pubes must look like a briar patch.

by Anonymousreply 345June 20, 2023 1:44 AM

I'm still thinking about the recent tension I noticed between Rachel and Lawrence (though I haven't watched much lately so maybe it's been ongoing). She made a very long point when they were on the panel together and he immediately said something like, "No, you're wrong about that." Wonder what's up?

I want to like Lawrence, we need him, but he gives me the creeps. Maybe it was that tantrum he had when filming his show that someone posted a video of a few years ago. I think he has a lot of rage inside.

Meanwhile, Chris Hayes is my absolute fave. Smart and not arrogant. (have to agree Rachel can be a slog)

by Anonymousreply 346June 20, 2023 1:50 AM

I still can't believe that Rachel gets to anchor just one hour a week yet retain her status as the network's top anchor and main prime-time star. Meanwhile, Chris Jansing and Nicolle Wallace both anchor for two hours every day.

by Anonymousreply 347June 20, 2023 2:34 AM
I still can't believe that Rachel gets to anchor just one hour a week yet retain her status as the network's top anchor and main prime-time star.

I still like Rachel but I have to be honest: her one hour show is really nothing but a platform on which she can hawk her latest podcasts -- it's less "The Rachel Maddow Show" and more "The Rachel Maddow Infomercial." Plus I get a little tired of the incessant praise all of the other hosts seem contractually obligated to give her every time they call her name ("the great Rachel Maddow!") followed by luxurious gushing over her podcasts or whichever product she's pushing (usually the only reason she ever appears as a guest on their shows).

Mediocrity plagiarizes. Genius steals.

Rachel is pure genius.

Are you a Gen Z female ? Any male over the age of 55 gives Gen Z females 'the creeps'.

by Anonymousreply 353June 20, 2023 1:28 PM

I know there's a strong dislike of Rachel here, but I didn't have a problem with last night's show.

She talked about conservatives going after the NAACP in FL several decades ago, and she dovetailed that into DeSantis' war on woke.

She had on Annette Gordon-Reed to talk about Juneteenth.

She talked about Navalny's "extremism" trial.

She talked about Russia having sought to kill a CIA informant on American soil.

And she talked about recent neo Nazi demonstrations.

by Anonymousreply 354June 20, 2023 1:28 PM

Can MSNBC please put a freeze on hiring any more on-air reporters with the name variation of "Ari" and "Ali" ? Thanks !

by Anonymousreply 355June 20, 2023 1:40 PM

I'm noticing much more cordiality on Rachel's part towards Lawrence in the past year or so. Don't know why there's been a change but she now seems much more eager and willing to banter with him between their shows, whereas she used to look rather impatient to be done with him. I like that as I love them both and the passion they each bring to their jobs.

by Anonymousreply 356June 20, 2023 1:40 PM

Anything to kill a few more minutes in her weekly hour, R356.

by Anonymousreply 357June 20, 2023 8:27 PM

Lawrence likes to hang on her coattails as she is the Queen of MSNBC.

She nearly creamed her jeans when Lawrence mentioned the production deal and filming she has for BAGMAN.

Rachel is very collegial as long as she has her clit flicked.

And now you know the REST of the story.

It can not be said enough; Andrea Mitchell needs to be retired. It's painful listening to her struggle to get out a coherent sentence.

I can hardly believe that the powers that be are not aware, and they apparently are prohibited from getting rid of her. Maybe her contract.

But that woman's brain is decomposing on air. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 376June 22, 2023 4:37 PM

I came on to say the same thing r376. Just listened to her talk about being impressed by the guts it must take to dive down to the Titanic.

I’m waiting for her to be the next incarnation of Larry King as she fumbles trying to manage more than 2 contributors simultaneously on air.

by Anonymousreply 377June 22, 2023 4:54 PM

R377

I watched almost all of that report - and I'm really not saying this to be bitchy - but if I didn't already know how bad she is, I would have thought she was having a stroke on air.

(The pumping up of the idiots that paid $250k to die was a side story to her mumbling and bumbling.)

I'm guessing the other hosts are at least annoyed, if not furious, that MSNBC is being so deferential to her. Or maybe I'm projecting.

by Anonymousreply 378June 22, 2023 6:14 PM

They can't 'get rid of her' without just cause. She's in her mid 70s, and they can't fire her for her age (unless they want to welcome a million lawsuits). If she did something horrendously wrong, they can drop her - but so far she hasn't. And her 'mumbling' is her speaking style; just like Barbara Walters had her own speaking style that people complained about for years.

by Anonymousreply 379June 22, 2023 6:36 PM

R379, MSNBC got rid of Chris Matthews.

by Anonymousreply 380June 22, 2023 7:06 PM

R380 Matthews stepped down on his own (he made a speech shocking everyone that he was hosting his last show) during the #MeToo movement, when there were stories breaking that he sexually assaulted female staff members.

by Anonymousreply 381June 22, 2023 7:09 PM

Perhaps they can have her report on a story and take the side of those who wished RBJ retired from SCOTUS of her own accord? Then Andrea might have an "Oh, fuck!" moment on air? Or better yet, be completely enfeebled by the power of that self-realization?

by Anonymousreply 382June 22, 2023 7:09 PM

No - they are doing the opposite. She keeps on reporting about DiFi's refusal to step down from Congress at the age of 89. So Andrea's "Oh fuck!" moment is when she realizes that she has 13 more years to work - at least 13 if not more.

by Anonymousreply 383June 22, 2023 7:16 PM

^^^

Sounds more like Andrea's "Oh Fuck Them!" moment.

by Anonymousreply 386June 22, 2023 10:42 PM

Lesley Stahl is in her early 80's, and seems sharper than the 76 year old Andrea. Andrea has seen it all, though - she is not going anywhere.

Not only is he very good looking and very brainy and very nerdy sexy, but he has a great sense of humor!

That's husband material there. Too bad he's already married. To a woman.

by Anonymousreply 409June 24, 2023 1:20 PM

Some hunky guy named Kevin Baron was on at the 8 am hour with Jonathan Capehart (he went on early to cover for Katie Fangs). Damn, that Baron was hot - older guy who can pound me anytime he wants.

by Anonymousreply 410June 24, 2023 1:29 PM

Hot Kevin Baron's brother Michael runs a musical theatre in Oklahoma and is hot, too.

by Anonymousreply 411June 24, 2023 4:42 PM

R411 is correct. The brother is hot.

Damn! I'd love to be sandwiched between the Baron brothers - both gorgeous and sexy.

by Anonymousreply 414June 24, 2023 8:18 PM

Is either Kevin Baron or his brother gay ?

by Anonymousreply 415June 24, 2023 8:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 416June 24, 2023 8:22 PM

by Anonymousreply 418June 24, 2023 8:59 PM

by Anonymousreply 419June 24, 2023 9:19 PM

Michael is gay but Kevin (sadly) is not.

by Anonymousreply 420June 24, 2023 9:30 PM

I'm an MSNBC loyalist; however, on Saturday afternoon I always switch to CNN to watch Jim Acosta.

I can do without MSNBC's Symone Sanders, Al Sharpton and Alicia Menedez. Nice to see Nicolle Wallace on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully Symone and Al Sharpton are MIA today. But Alicia is on now on. Time to switch to Acosta.

by Anonymousreply 421June 24, 2023 10:27 PM

I love Alex Witt in Saturday Sunday mornings. But now Jen Psaki has taken an hour of Witt's airtime on Sunday. No happy about that.

by Anonymousreply 422June 24, 2023 10:29 PM

Lawrence O'Donnell remains my MSNBC favorite. So smart and interesting to watch.

by Anonymousreply 423June 24, 2023 10:30 PM

Thankfully Hallie Jackson is not part of the MSNBC lineup any longer. All she does is yell. Although she is still with NBC digital.

by Anonymousreply 424June 24, 2023 10:33 PM

What does everyone think of Ana Cabrera on weekdays at 7am/West Coast? She now precedes José Díaz-Balart each morning. Two Latinos in a row.

I like Ana, and even though she's fairly new (coming from CNN), I cannot recall who she replaced at MSNBC.

by Anonymousreply 425June 24, 2023 10:37 PM

I couldn't stand Stephanie Ruhl when she was on with Velshi in the morning years ago. But I love her on the 11th Hour. I know she's married with kids, but I always get a lesbian vibe from her.

by Anonymousreply 426June 24, 2023 10:42 PM

Kevin was a regular on MSNBC back in the days of the Iraq & Afghan wars, especially a favorite of Chris Mathews. He got a bit of DL love.

by Anonymousreply 434June 25, 2023 1:17 PM

R425 She replaced José Díaz-Balart in that time-slot, who has now been bumped up an hour (here on the East Coast, he's on at 11 am, previously being on at 10 am). Before José Díaz-Balart , it was Ali Velshi and Stephanie Rhule in the 10 am (EST) slot until MSNBC split them up. In the 11 am slot, for the longest time, it was the delectable Craig Melvin - who is now on NBC's "Today". Once Melvin left, Hallie Jackson was given that slot for a short while, along with others.

by Anonymousreply 436June 25, 2023 2:49 PM

I see that MSNBC told Symone Sanders and Al Sharpton to take a hike this weekend in order to provide extended coverage of the situation in Russia. They knew that neither one would be up to the task.

Meanwhile, Ali Velshi and Ayman Mohyeldin have been doing a fine job of anchoring the Russia coverage. Both of them are highly competent journalists and anchors who are skilled at dealing with breaking news, but they will forever be underappreciated at MSNBC and relegated to secondary roles.

by Anonymousreply 437June 25, 2023 9:40 PM

MSNBC certainly did not need Sharpton to bring his deck of race cards into the discussion.

by Anonymousreply 438June 25, 2023 11:02 PM

R438, Uncle Al.

by Anonymousreply 439June 25, 2023 11:24 PM

Is the rationale for the SkyNews feed that it will provide faster breaking news coverage wrt the situation in Russia? Last time I remember it being deployed was early in the assault on Ukraine.

Since I've tuned in it's all been UK-centric news and sports.

by Anonymousreply 440June 26, 2023 6:24 AM
Is the rationale for the SkyNews feed that it will provide faster breaking news coverage wrt the situation in Russia?

Yes, MSNBC has been airing Sky News overnight since the situation in Russia began a few days ago. MSNBC and Sky News are both owned by Comcast. But it invites the question: Why is the UK able to provide true around-the-clock news coverage of major international events, but the US isn't?

by Anonymousreply 441June 26, 2023 8:18 AM

by Anonymousreply 476June 29, 2023 5:40 AM

Why a special discussion? I'm sure Nicolle will do a fine job and Joy can discuss it on her show. Does Rachel have to butt in to everything?

by Anonymousreply 477June 29, 2023 7:29 PM

Butt in?

Isn't part of Rachel's job is to come on when there's a panel discussion on special days.

And having the president being interviewed by the network certainly qualifies as that.

by Anonymousreply 478June 29, 2023 7:40 PM

I would like to have MSNBC have their Asian-American reporters such as Katie Phang and Richard Lui weigh in about the AA decision, which helps Asian American students. The suit was filed by an Asian American. Why won't MSNBC let their voices be heard ?

by Anonymousreply 490June 30, 2023 5:00 PM
I would like to have MSNBC have their Asian-American reporters such as Katie Phang and Richard Lui weigh in about the AA decision

Richard Lui is a news anchor, not a commentator. It's not his job to give his opinions. Plus, his role at MSNBC is confined mostly to doing breaking news cut-ins on weekends. And I imagine Katie Phang will discuss all of the Supreme Court's decisions from this week on her show tomorrow morning.
Why won't MSNBC let their voices be heard?

Why are you assuming that Katie Phang and Richard Lui were eager to talk, but MSNBC wouldn't let them?

You sound like an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 491June 30, 2023 5:22 PM

Well, I’m sure it was just a coincidence, but Chris Hayes had 5-6 guests comment and they were all Black.

by Anonymousreply 492June 30, 2023 5:24 PM

R491 Richard Lui has also done specials for MSNBC, most recently one about Alzheimer's and his dealing with his dad who suffers from it. He has broken away from the 'anchor desk' in the past and should be invited on one of the shows in the past 24 hours.

So far, we have not heard from Lui or Phang since the ruling yesterday.

If you can't see they're notably missing from the conversation, you're an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 493June 30, 2023 5:34 PM
So far, we have not heard from Lui or Phang since the ruling yesterday.

Maybe that's because they both work the weekend shift. If you're dying to hear their take on the ruling, why not tune in tomorrow?
Richard Lui has also done specials for MSNBC, most recently one about Alzheimer's and his dealing with his dad who suffers from it.

Yes, but he has never been MSNBC's "commentator on Asian issues" and has never been a commentator at all. And as far as I know, his reporting responsibilities have never included the Supreme Court beat or higher education. It would be insulting to require him to give his opinion on the affirmative action ruling just because he's Asian.

by Anonymousreply 494June 30, 2023 6:05 PM
Maybe that's because they both work the weekend shift. If you're dying to hear their take on the ruling, why not tune in tomorrow?

Al Sharpton and Symone both work the weekend shift, too. They've been invited for commentary in the past 24 hours, visiting the MSNBC shows. See how that works ?
Yes, but he has never been MSNBC's "commentator on Asian issues" and has never been a commentator at all. And as far as I know, his reporting responsibilities have never included the Supreme Court beat or higher education. It would be insulting to require him to give his opinion on the affirmative action ruling just because he's Asian.

It would be INSULTING to ask an Asian American journalist what his opinion is on the AA ruling because...he's Asian ? WTF ?

by Anonymousreply 495June 30, 2023 8:41 PM
Al Sharpton and Symone both work the weekend shift, too. They've been invited for commentary

Because Al Sharpton and Symone Sanders are COMMENTATORS. That's their job. They were hired to give their opinions. They're not journalists. They're not reporters.
It would be INSULTING to ask an Asian American journalist what his opinion is on the AA ruling because...he's Asian ? WTF ?

No, it would be insulting because it's not his job to give his personal opinion and it's not his job to be the token Asian-American. It would be like MSNBC asking Vaughn Hillyard or Joe Fryer or Steve Kornacki to come into the studio today to give their personal opinion on today's Supreme Court's decision regarding gay rights simply because they're gay.

by Anonymousreply 496June 30, 2023 8:55 PM
Because Al Sharpton and Symone Sanders are COMMENTATORS. That's their job. They were hired to give their opinions.

So where is commentator Katie Phang the past 24 hours ? She was hired to give her opinion - why is she not sitting with Sharpton and Symone giving the Asian American opinion on this ?

Your responses have highlighted something else, though (probably unintentionally on your part):

It seems like MSNBC has a plethora of Hispanic and Black commentators on their staff, and not many Asians. Looks like just one - Katie Phang. Do you think it's because other Asian commentators lost out on being hired by MSNBC to the other two minorities due to Affirmative Action ?

by Anonymousreply 497June 30, 2023 9:02 PM
Maybe that's because they both work the weekend shift. If you're dying to hear their take on the ruling, why not tune in tomorrow?

Actually, they were both in remedial driving lessons to lower their insurance costs.

by Anonymousreply 498June 30, 2023 9:08 PM
So where is commentator Katie Phang the past 24 hours ? She was hired to give her opinion - why is she not sitting with Sharpton and Symone giving the Asian American opinion on this ?

Well, if you're so damn interested in getting Katie Phang's take on the affirmative action decision that you can't wait until her show tomorrow morning, did you ever consider looking at her Twitter account? She posted about it yesterday in a series of tweets.

R499 I don't want to read a Tweet. I would like to see her on television, having a conversation with Al Sharpton, Joy Reid, Symone, and all the other black 'commentators' on the MSNBC roster who have appeared on the show for the past 24 hours (none of them had to wait for their weekend timeslot or 'tweet' their message). If they're getting camera time while this was happening in real time yesterday and last night - then I want to see her join the conversation. I'd love to see them accuse Whites and Asians of having 'advantages' and therefore the need of 'Affirmative Action' for disadvantaged Black people, and hear her response to them. But if she's waiting for her weekend show, then in all fairness - make Al Sharpton and Symone wait, too. Let them all tweet until they get cameratime this weekend.

by Anonymousreply 504June 30, 2023 10:42 PM

You missed the point entirely, r504. I think that says quite a LOT about you!

by Anonymousreply 505June 30, 2023 10:47 PM

R505 No, you're very much equating minority commentators with puppets. In other words, you're still very much a racist - time to block the racist troll.

by Anonymousreply 506June 30, 2023 10:51 PM

Um, no bitch. R502 (is that you?) is ordering up black and Asian commentators to work on weekends and outside their typical job roles. He seems pretty keyed in on the debate already, which leads me to believe nothing they say will change his mind, or will just inflate his own bubble/echo-chamber, so really he just wants this in pursuit of entertainment.

I’m not going to tell you to fuck off with your delicate feelings and ultra-racist-perception. Instead I’m going to offer you an off-ramp and suggest you go have a glass of wine, or jerk off or something, enjoy the weekend and come back when this thread is at Part 48.

by Anonymousreply 507June 30, 2023 10:58 PM

R507 You're a very generous person. Very opened minded, too, I can see. And of course, full of undeserved self-importance.

by Anonymousreply 508June 30, 2023 11:07 PM
I'd love to see them accuse Whites and Asians of having 'advantages' and therefore the need of 'Affirmative Action' for disadvantaged Black people, and hear her response to them.

Be careful what you wish for. You seem convinced that Katie Phang hates affirmative action and supports the Supreme Court ruling and would say so if only MSNBC would stop muzzling her. But if you'd read the tweets she posted yesterday (linked above), you'd see that she quoted Ketanji Brown Jackson's dissent as "truth" and says she doesn't want to drive a wedge between Asians and other people of color (which is exactly what you want her to do).

by Anonymousreply 509June 30, 2023 11:13 PM

Are Joe and Mika avoiding each other? What's up. Trouble in paradise? The set is so much more lively with Joe.

by Anonymousreply 510June 30, 2023 11:23 PM

R509 Not at all. I just want to see her engage in a real conversation about Affirmative Action with the other minority commentators. I have no idea which side she is on, but I want to see her engage in the conversation in real time. I would love to see a real, organic conversation - not polite scripted commentary on her show tomorrow morning, or carefully crafted well-thought out Tweets from her (or whoever writes her Tweets). I want to see her reactions to the other minorities sitting at the table, and a free-flowing conversation of what this ruling means to each of them.

I'm curious as to why she hasn't been on the shows the past 24 hours (and the lame reasoning 'she only works weekends' has been shot down already). It would be nice if they invited other Asian journalists and commentators, but for some odd reason - they haven't.

I'm so confused after today, would it now be legal to refuse to build a wedding website for an Asian couple?

Or is that only the case if they are a same-sex Asian couple?

And is the college admissions board permitted to consider all the adversity I have overcome as a flaming nelly queen, if I detail that in my application essay?

Thanks for the clarity and consistency of justice.

by Anonymousreply 521July 1, 2023 9:18 AM

by Anonymousreply 522July 1, 2023 9:45 AM

R524 Here is what you say in your post at R519 : "the lawsuit was brought on behalf of the [bold]hapless[/bold] Asians by White Supremacists." When I questioned you about 'Hapless Asians' , you said in R524 [bold] "They are not hapless."[/bold] Which is it, you ass ?

Either way, your reasoning in thinking Asian mothers are being manipulated by White Supremacists is the most fucked up answer in this thread. You're plain nuts.
I just want to see her engage in a real conversation about Affirmative Action with the other minority commentators. I have no idea which side she is on, but I want to see her engage in the conversation in real time.

It appears that Katie Phang did exactly that on her show this morning. The president of Howard University was one of her guests. I didn't watch, but I sure do hope you were able to.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 527July 1, 2023 4:46 PM

R527 I did indeed watch, and it was exactly as I expected - her opening and her conversation was well-scripted, and not organic at all. It really was a waste of time. This is why I said I wanted her on the shows when this was happening in real time on Thursday - I wanted to see her engaging in conversation 'in the moment' with other commentators who are minorities. I wanted to hear her thoughts and see her reactions while the conversation was evolving fresh from the SC ruling, and what she had to say in 'real time' - not two days later when the momentum is gone.

But for whatever reason, she was kept away from the discussions until her Saturday morning show where her writers crafted her finely tuned monologue, which she read off her teleprompter, and then did her polite conversation with her guest which was also well-scripted.

BTW, the Twitter link you posted says 'something went wrong' and it's no longer available.

And it should also be noted that she was not just talking about the Affirmative Action ruling this morning on her show - she rolled all three rulings from Thursday and Friday into one and the conversation was more about 'the Supreme Court Rulings' than anything else. She seemed to have spent more time on the SC shooting down Biden's student loan forgiveness than she did on AA.

by Anonymousreply 528July 1, 2023 5:10 PM

I am so sorry, R528, that the discussion on her show did not live up to your expectations. What a shame that Katie Phang's TV show uses a script and a teleprompter. And what a travesty that she discussed all of the Supreme Court rulings, not just the affirmative action one. Of course, she did tweet about the affirmative action ruling "in the moment" while it was happening, but I understand those tweets also did not meet your standards. Alas, life is full of disappointments. Perhaps you could get in touch with MSNBC and arrange a personal phone call with Katie, explaining that you need to know her personal thoughts about affirmative action.

R526, yuck yuck is more like it.

by Anonymousreply 530July 1, 2023 5:48 PM

R529 Thank you for your concerns. I will take your thoughtful advice under review, and I shall give it a great amount of consideration.

by Anonymousreply 531July 1, 2023 5:55 PM

I'm just entering into this Katie Phang conversation with this post but I have to say I totally get what r528 is saying.

MSNBC has several Black anchors, reporters and commentators (Joy, Rev Al, Mara Gay, Charles Coleman, Maya Wiley, et. al.), who will always be brought on (as they should be!) to discuss news that is relevant to the Black population, but, even though they have a few AA on-camera people as well as several out gays, MSNBC would NEVER think to bring them into a conversation regarding matters that are specifically relevant to their lives. I don't suppose they do it with their Latinx people like Alicia Menendez, Anna Cabrera, Jose Whathisname, either.

Why is this a thing just done with their Black on-camera folks?

by Anonymousreply 532July 1, 2023 6:29 PM
MSNBC has several Black anchors, reporters and commentators (Joy, Rev Al, Mara Gay, Charles Coleman, Maya Wiley, et. al.),

All of the people you mentioned are commentators, not journalists. They are asked to comment because that's what they were hired to do as MSNBC contributors. But you won't see black journalists like Craig Melvin or Lester Holt brought on to give commentary because it's not their job.
I don't suppose they do it with their Latinx people like Alicia Menendez, Anna Cabrera, Jose Whathisname, either.

They occasionally do it with Alicia Menendez because she is a commentator. They don't do it with Anna Cabrera and Jose Diaz-Balart because they are journalists, and it's not their job to provide commentary. It wouldn't be appropriate.

by Anonymousreply 533July 1, 2023 7:03 PM

Has anyone asked Chris Hayes and his ENDLESS parade of "leftists" of the Berner variety if they've ever had even a single moment where they took credit for their endless and well-documented Hillary Hating in 2016 and how they are fully responsible for the degradation from the Supreme Court crushing American life today? No? I thought not.

by Anonymousreply 534July 1, 2023 7:36 PM

I’ve written to Katie P. and told her to watch her back. I think R528 might be so frenzied that he could follow her to her favorite noodle shop and poison her broth!

by Anonymousreply 535July 1, 2023 8:20 PM

R535 Have no worries. I would never do that to her - she's just following corporate policy at MSNBC : 'Do as you are told, and say what we have written for you'.

It's sort of how you go through life, I see.

by Anonymousreply 536July 1, 2023 8:45 PM

R525 Cool I had no idea we were capable of selectively marking text as [bold]bold[/bold].

by Anonymousreply 537July 1, 2023 11:03 PM

r533, I clearly included "commentators" when I listed the Black contributors who appear on MSNBC so I don't know why you seem to be trying to correct me.

And you're missing my point/question - which is why doesn't MSNBC have gays, Asian American and Latinx commentators to come on camera and discuss their personal point of view as they do with Black commentators? OK, I get that Steve Kornacki and Rachel Maddow are not there to give their gay point of view, Katie Phang not there to give her AA point of view, etc. But why are there no commentators other than Blacks who will do that?

by Anonymousreply 538July 1, 2023 11:42 PM
why doesn't MSNBC have gays, Asian American and Latinx commentators to come on camera and discuss their personal point of view as they do with Black commentators?

To be fair, MSNBC does have Asian Americans and Latino commentators, such as Kurt Bardella, Julian Castro, and Maria Teresa Kumar. But you're right that the network has far more black commentators. I suspect part of the reason is that, in general, there are more blacks than Asian-Americans or Latinos involved in politics. I think another reason that MSNBC has so many black contributors is to compensate for the lack of black anchors. On weekdays, MSNBC airs live programming from 5 a.m. to midnight. Only one of the those 19 hours features a black anchor -- Joy Reid. Historically, the network has been criticized for being overwhelmingly white, and there was some backlash when Al Sharpton was moved from weekdays to weekends, so a lot of black contributors were brought on board to add more diversity.

by Anonymousreply 539July 2, 2023 12:12 AM

R538 Thank you for your post - I asked the same question the other day. They have a plethora of Black commentators at the ready, but no Asians or Latinx. No one could answer the question with a coherent response. I was directed to Katie Phang's Twitter account. Really ?

Trust me, I watch MSNBC only (never FOX News or CNN), and it's so obvious that they don't have Asian or Latinx commentators. It's rather disappointing - especially when those voices are missing from controversial rulings such as we had on Thursday. We got the African American opinions all day long - but not the Asian American opinions, which this ruling has affected in the opposite way.

by Anonymousreply 540July 2, 2023 1:22 AM

Well, I do hope that absolutely no one has "Latinx" commentators!

by Anonymousreply 541July 2, 2023 2:16 AM
I was directed to Katie Phang's Twitter account. Really ?

You were directed to Katie Phang's Twitter account because you desperately wanted to know Phang's opinion on the Supreme Court's affirmative action decision, and she had given her opinion on her personal Twitter account, praising Kentanji Brown Jackson's dissent. Of course, this didn't fit your narrative that all Asian Americans support the decision, so you chose to ignore her tweets and pretend they either didn't exist or had been posted by someone masquerading as Katie Phang.

BTW, Katie Phang will have a special two-hour edition of her show Sunday morning, and affirmative action will again be one of the topics. So be sure to tune in to get your fix.

by Anonymousreply 542July 2, 2023 2:26 AM

Where were the gay MSNBC commentators to discuss the other Supreme Court ruling that so strongly affects gays?

by Anonymousreply 543July 2, 2023 2:35 AM

R542 Give it up, sweetie. This is way above your level of comprehension and understanding.

Once again, I wasn't interested in her Tweet for many reasons explained from my first post. And apparently, neither were other members here. We wanted her to have a real time conversation live on air with the other minorities discussing the SC ruling on Thursday afternoon while conversations were evolving and ongoing - not be sidelined to Twitter by MSNBC. Why did the Black commentators come on and have their say, and not be sidelined to Twitter ? Doesn't MSNBC consider Phang part of their 'Varsity' team ? , Waiting for her to address this four days later from a script written by her show's writers (and not her own organic opinions) following MSNBC's agenda, reading it off a teleprompter, means absolutely nothing. Like her weekend colleagues Al Sharpton and Symone, she should have been addressing this live on television and be part of the conversation with them. Or, they should have had not invited any commentators on the shows, and sidelined all of them to their Twitter accounts. It's that simple.

by Anonymousreply 544July 2, 2023 3:10 AM

And by "we," you mean "you." Are you president of the Katie Phang Fan Club?

Does Katie Phang still anchor her show on Thursday and Friday afternoons on Peacock? If so, that could explain why she wasn't on MSNBC on Thursday afternoon.
Doesn't MSNBC consider Phang part of their 'Varsity' team ?

She's relegated to anchoring in the early morning on weekends. What do you think?

by Anonymousreply 547July 2, 2023 12:43 PM
And by "we," you mean "you." Are you president of the Katie Phang Fan Club?

No. R544 keeps trying to order up Katie Phang like he’s shopping for a mail-order bride, one with opinions he can’t wait to skewer. But only if they are her immediate, ad lib opinions… none of the well thought out ones she posts on Twitter because they don’t fit the narrative r544 is trying to enforce… some Black vs. Asian street fight in Harvard Square with SCOTUS refereeing.

Hence, my characterization of him @ R503.

by Anonymousreply 548July 2, 2023 12:59 PM

Honestly Katie Phang sucks as an Anchor.

She is a great legal analyst.

by Anonymousreply 549July 2, 2023 2:49 PM

R547 No by 'we' I mean 'we' - those who agreed with me and liked my numerous posts (if you even bothered to follow the conversation, which I doubt you can do with your ADHD).

Again, this conversation is way over your head.

R548 You never stop at the chance to show the world you're a racist, huh ? Again, comparing minority commentators as dancing puppets your mommy can control.

Shit, I forgot 4th of July was a fucking FIVE DAY WEEKEND. this year. MJ is all third string this morning. The Monday after the most fucked up decisions the SC issued since Jim Crow.

Bad decision Rashida.

by Anonymousreply 553July 3, 2023 10:17 AM

I'm enjoying the second stringers. No drama. Nice for a change.

by Anonymousreply 554July 3, 2023 12:42 PM

But it's all filler. No news. I guess that Morning Joe's Monday will be Wednesday this week. I wonder if Rachel will do a real episode. What's another Monday off. She can show up to push the extra episode of Bagman.

by Anonymousreply 555July 3, 2023 2:00 PM

It's not the same with Junior Varsity team taking over. I think most of it was pre-recorded from last Thursday or Friday; at least that is how it felt. It didn't seem 'newsworthy' - just time filling.

by Anonymousreply 556July 3, 2023 2:08 PM

Agreed. You know it is a holiday weekend when they use local feeds/prerecords from all over.

Filler.

by Anonymousreply 557July 3, 2023 2:46 PM

Jonathan Lemire is no anchor.

He only got that job by kissing Joe’s ass.

Loves “reporting” the dramatic, click-bait style.

by Anonymousreply 558July 3, 2023 3:03 PM

R558, He’s so feminine.

by Anonymousreply 559July 3, 2023 3:13 PM

R553 - Maybe I'm misremembering, but I could have sworn MJ discussed those rulings on Friday's show. (Weren't the rulings announced on Thursday?)

And as for those saying the show was all fillers and prerecords:

I watched only the first hour, but they discussed Lindsay getting booed at a Trump rally and getting lukewarm support from Trump, Trump pressuring the AZ governor to overturn the election, Biden going to Europe in advance of the NATO meeting, and Ukraine's counteroffensive moving at a slow pace.

I thought Lemire and Kay did a good job.

by Anonymousreply 561July 4, 2023 1:56 AM

Alicia Menendez's new hair style suits her but I'd rather be watching Laurence O'Donnell. Is the regular crew off all week?

by Anonymousreply 562July 4, 2023 2:22 AM

Medhi is having a meltdown on twitter on Biden’s appointee.

I now know why Rashida buries him on Sunday nights.

by Anonymousreply 563July 4, 2023 3:17 AM
I'm enjoying the second stringers. No drama. Nice for a change.

I switched over to NBC News NOW. Not bad, it's kind of fun.

Even they had subs filling in. The regular airline business correspondent, Tom Costello was anchoring. I love that he was flabbergasted and disbelieving, when tossing to the beach report about the stifling heat - to learn that it was actually just 70 degrees on the coast. Has he ever been to california?

by Anonymousreply 572July 5, 2023 2:48 PM

R572

That says everything about the voters of Missouri, not Claire. She has nothing to feel humiliated by. She's smart and sincere and charismatic.

Missouri voted for Josh Hawley. Hawley is a dumb, stunted adolescent, and vindictive Republican.

by Anonymousreply 578July 6, 2023 2:00 AM

I’ve felt Claire McCaskill has always been lukewarm about “the gays.” Just this morning, her choice of words, lack of emotion, and quick desire to move along to other SCOTUS decisions just reaffirmed that. I think it dates back to the wrangle she got into over her very public stance on abortion rights with the fascist, homophobic, and blatantly Republicunt Raymond Cardinal Burke in the 1990s. He very publicly denied her Communion.
