Project Runway Season 20: All-Stars (starts 06/15/23)

After a lonnnnnng hiatus, PR is back.

The trailer dropped last week. I thought for sure there'd be a thread already, but searched and came up empty.

Lots of familiar faces among the cast... and a few (from the first couple of seasons) I genuinely don't remember.

I think this will be the last season.

by Anonymousreply 1May 20, 2023 12:19 PM

I don't think anyone gives a shit. It's stopped brunt a real competition a long time ago.

by Anonymousreply 2May 20, 2023 12:23 PM

Georgina Chapman was a brunt.

by Anonymousreply 3May 20, 2023 12:37 PM

How exciting!

by Anonymousreply 4May 20, 2023 1:07 PM

LOL that trailer features "the captain and crew of Below Deck."

I don't even watch the show and I know thanks to DL of at least two porners/sex workers from that cast.

Will the hookers be modeling or judging the designers?

What an honor for the 'legends' to be graced by guys who get gang banged raw on OnlyFans!

What an epic journey the series has gone on.

It began on Bravo, the network of Cirque Du Soleil and opera performances, with a supermodel and major fashion players judging.

It moved to Lifetime for brilliant, inspired challenges sponsored by the likes of Dixie Cups!

Now back to Bravo with Cokey Andy and a bunch of cum dumps.

Cool. Thanks, OP.

by Anonymousreply 6May 20, 2023 1:15 PM

R5, it's still better than "Next in Fashion," IMO. A low bar, admittedly, but still.

And as long as Nina Garcia shows up, I'll keep watching.

by Anonymousreply 7May 21, 2023 5:47 PM

I really like Nina also.

by Anonymousreply 8May 21, 2023 5:52 PM

Alyssa Milano the last host of PR All Stars as its own spinoff show. It ran for 7 seasons before they canceled it after the Weinstein scandal. The property is now back with Bravo.

Nina Garcia is the only original judge since Project Runway's inaugural season. She is now joined by piggy Brandon Munchwell and SJW stick figure, Elaine Welteroth. Christian Siriano is the new workroom mentor since the reboot began with S17. Looks like they are saving money by folding All Stars in with the original show and keeping just one set of judges.

Heidi and Tim are now on Amazon's Making the Cut which has a good winner for S3.

by Anonymousreply 9May 21, 2023 6:04 PM

How does “Making the Cut” stack up against PR and NiF? Is it worth a watch?

I haven’t checked it out, even though I love Tim Gunn.

by Anonymousreply 10May 21, 2023 7:05 PM

Making the Cut has been uneven. The first season filmed in Paris and Tokyo and had Naomi Campbell as one of the judges. Second season was during the pandemic so they stayed in one location and had a storeroom stocked with fabric which eliminated the Mood panic buying. An important difference is that there are seamstresses working overnight to sew the garments so you don’t have that “designer who can’t sew” obstacle. They do have to know how to write up the instructions since they don’t meet the seamstresses in person. Another difference is there is a massive Amazon retail presence so designs tend to be more commercial and less editorial. The third season was similar to the second season, but it did have the best team challenge of all time. IIRC there was no “loser”.

The second season had one of the best designers ever seen on PR and MTC, Gary Graham. Brilliantly creative.

by Anonymousreply 11May 21, 2023 9:46 PM

Making the Cut and Project Runway are pretty interchangeable to me. Each season and each episode is hit or miss.

I still have a low regard for Project Runway because of the Lifetime years of challenges sponsored by Dixie cups and stuffed animals and probably Cheetos, I don't even remember anymore. There was a season in which almost every contestant used only shades of beige and what the judges kept praising as 'millennial pink,' and everyone had stupid straps hanging off the garments all season. It was terrible.

It did get a little better when it moved back to Bravo except that I can't support NBC filling the Kushner coffers with more easy money through Karlie Kloss Kushner as host. Fuck that. I don't care if she was a decent host. Her bank accounts are shared with those of a Kushner slum lord and she doesn't get to play innocentZ

by Anonymousreply 12May 22, 2023 1:09 PM

R12 Karlie was only a host for one season (S17). That gay contestant who called her out before he was eliminated (even though she's married to the blue/dem brother) essentially ensured Kloss wouldn't return as a judge so as to avoid similar heat. She did return briefly as a guest judge for S18.

R10 OP, Making the Cut is good. Fewer, more high quality episodes, so less filler that way. It's also shot more cinematically. ome stunning visuals. I love the runways filmed outside and on location. The final set of challenges are more realistic than some of what you'll see on Project Runway: social media content, pop up store, business pitch to Amazon, and major runway. The S1 runner up was really cool, but perhaps too European and niche for Amazon. S2 has a really cool runner up, but was again too cerebral and artsy for Amazon to trust that the $1M prize would be worth it.

Heidi and the judges aren't afraid to eliminate multiple people in a single episode or no one at all. It's less predictable in that regard which keeps it fun. The current core panel of judges they have now is great: Heidi (blunt model), Jeremy Scott (bitchy designer), Nicole Richie (hilarious, eccentric rich client).

I've liked each season, but the winner of S3 was my favorite. So cool and the collection for Amazon came out great. High quality, natural materials, cool designs, and just expensive enough to be aspirational, but still at an inclusive price point. Finally for S3, I think they listened to Jeremy Scott and selected his favorite (the auteur designer) instead of someone more commercial. The winner was just too cool, polished, consistent, and had such a strong business pitch. It was the best season so far. The effects of pandemic meant that the designers were hungry and really wanted the money to save their businesses.

by Anonymousreply 13May 22, 2023 1:34 PM

I like the hosts in Next In Fashion and in the first season they had some pretty great designs and I believe they were the first one of the three (PR, MTC) which included menswear for more than maybe one challenge per season.

Maybe it's just the edit, but Siriano as mentor on PR is always spot on and if the contestants don't follow his advice they are usually in the bottom three or full-on eliminated.

Making the Cut is just too commercial for me. It's too much about ready to wear clothes that could sell on Amazon (duh!). The pomp and drama of the big production value is diminished by having to please Amazon's mainstream customers.

by Anonymousreply 14May 22, 2023 1:35 PM

I haven't been able to stomach the seasons with Elaine, Christian, and Brandon. They are annoying as fuck. I didn't like S1 of Next In Fashion, but S2 is very much like older PR in spirit and I found it very enjoyable. I can't get into Making The Cut either, even though I preferred the Heidi/Tim era of PR. Too gimmicky. Just stop fucking with a simple, winning formula and hitting everyone over the head with wokeness. Give us a fun, unpretentious fashion competition...is that too much to ask?

by Anonymousreply 15May 22, 2023 1:40 PM

Karlie was the host for two seasons (17 +18) when the show came back to BRAVO and then left to show up as guest judge in the next season. Since then, Project Runway had no host and the judges share the hosting duties (like, announcing the challenge, and on runway day repeating the requirements for the challenge and introducing the other judges and the guest judge).

Are there any changes for the All Stars Season at all? In the past Alyssa Milano hosted them, Mizrahi, Chapman were judges, and there were female mentors (Joanna Coles, Zanna Roberts Rassi, Anne Fulenwider) .

by Anonymousreply 18May 22, 2023 1:56 PM

R18 The show is canceled as its own spinoff and now back with Bravo, is instead rolled into the main show.

by Anonymousreply 19May 22, 2023 2:23 PM
Are there any changes for the All Stars Season at all? In the past Alyssa Milano hosted them, Mizrahi, Chapman were judges

Whoa. Stop right there.

It's THE GORGEOUS Georgina Chapman.

It's in the contract.

by Anonymousreply 20May 22, 2023 2:31 PM

Can somebody translate r19's comment? Canceled as its own spinoff? What's that supposed to mean?

by Anonymousreply 21May 22, 2023 2:32 PM

How quickly they forget the Bravo days when PR had challenges such as “design an outfit for Brooke Shields to wear on NBC megahit Lipstick Jungle!” and “design an outfit that these WWE female wrestlers can wear into the ring and look bold and daring whole also feminine!”

by Anonymousreply 22May 22, 2023 2:51 PM

Thanks for the scoop -- good and bad -- on MtC, all! I may check it out.

I liked S1 of NiF, but found a lot of the designs in S2 looked reeeeally cheap/amateurish (esp. Megan's). I kept imagining what the PR judges of yore would say about them. Much to my surprise, I did like Gigi Hadid way more than I thought I would -- she seemed very sweet.
That gay contestant who called her out before he was eliminated

^^ R13, what the what? I missed that season of PR -- what happened?!

by Anonymousreply 23May 22, 2023 8:31 PM

The designers had been tasked with making an outfit that Karlie Kloss could wear to a fashion event in Paris using only clothes they found at Goodwill. Judge Brandon Maxwell told contestant Tyler Neasloney during the critiques that he couldn't see Kloss wearing his outfit "anywhere." Neasloney replied: "Not even to dinner with the Kushners?"

Thanks, R24,

I thought it was going to be something super-dramatic, LOL.

by Anonymousreply 25May 22, 2023 10:53 PM

The first season of Next in Fashion was a great—the set up, the contestants, it all worked. Waited years for the second season and it seems like the focus shifted to Streetwear? That’s all well and good for the 18-30 demographic but it doesn’t interest me.

by Anonymousreply 26May 22, 2023 11:58 PM

I don't have cable. Peacock claims to have Project Runway but it only has up to season 19. The current season is 20. Blah.

by Anonymousreply 27June 4, 2023 10:07 PM

Although I like Nina - Tim Gunn is the only reason to watch a fashion show. They should have brought back Season 1 Winner - Jay McCarroll (he's a fucking disaster though)

by Anonymousreply 28June 4, 2023 10:18 PM

In 20 years, I'd say the two most successful designers to come out of the show by far are Christian Siriano and Emilio Sosa. Would love to get an update, though, on some other past contenders like Laura, Jeffrey, Austin, Chloe, Anthony, etc.

by Anonymousreply 29June 4, 2023 10:23 PM

I had a fondness for Leanne Marshall of Portland, Or. I think she won PR season 5.

by Anonymousreply 30June 4, 2023 10:55 PM

WHET happened to DL's favorite designer Gretchen Jones? From Tim:
“Oh, boy. I’m going to get in trouble for this. Michael [Kors] was campaigning for Gretchen. He said, ‘We need a sportswear designer to win one of these seasons.’ “I thought, ‘Well, Mr. Kors, you just want to validate yourself. But do you want to validate yourself with Gretchen?’ I wouldn’t. Nina [Garcia] was very much in favor of Mondo, and then Michael nudges her and he says, ‘You know, Gretchen listened to every word of advice that you gave her. Mondo didn’t listen to you at all.’ So suddenly, Nina is, like ‘That’s right! He didn’t! I’m going with Gretchen.’ So that’s how it all happened.”

by Anonymousreply 32June 5, 2023 11:23 AM

Did anyone watch the premiere?

Lots of names I haven't heard in over a decade!

Kara Saun, Rami Kashou, Korto Momolu, Kayne Gillespie, Fabio DeCosta, etc.

I was expecting to see Santino Rice turn the corner!

I'm not too interested in the people from more recent seasons, except for maybe Laurence Basse.

And I really hated that insane Haitian queen (who thinks she's a star).

by Anonymousreply 33June 15, 2023 12:18 PM

I'm watching season two and Santino Rice is patently evil.

He became a Drag Race judge and no one held his personality against him, while Omarosa and other reality-show villains always have been known to be terrible people. How did he escape his reputation? He was really wicked.

by Anonymousreply 34June 15, 2023 12:23 PM

And Santino is patently insane besides being a jackass.

His chosen lifestyle seems to be rejecting vaccines, arson and shooting guns, and then meditation and shitting.

I just rewatched Season 1 last week so I'm really looking forward to seeing Kara and Nora. Rami looks like he packed on a few pounds and isn't aging well in the face. Love Nina but Brandon is a cheap knockoff of Michael Kors and Elaine represents the woke. Bravo is repeating Season 19 today and it's dreadful.

by Anonymousreply 36June 15, 2023 1:35 PM

Good lord. Was he in DC on January 6?

I always hated that douchebag, but I didn't know he was that nutty.

by Anonymousreply 37June 15, 2023 1:36 PM

Santino is a disgrace to gay people.

by Anonymousreply 38June 15, 2023 3:20 PM

Kara Saun was not one of my favorites but she looks *sensational* for someone in her mid-fifties. Hoping Korto makes it to the finals.

by Anonymousreply 39June 15, 2023 5:28 PM

How odd.

For a peace, love, and meditation yoga person, it seems quite at odds with that lifestyle to be then calling for people to take up with guns and swords.

I'm thinking he's bipolar, schizophrenic, on drugs or all three.

by Anonymousreply 40June 15, 2023 6:39 PM

Looking forward to tonight's premiere!

by Anonymousreply 41June 15, 2023 7:23 PM

I liked Kara in Season 1 but her head got very big and she pulled some shady shit with shoes in the finale that I think cost her the win. Also, Wendy drove her nuts but Wendy drove everyone nuts (may she rest in peace).

by Anonymousreply 42June 15, 2023 7:46 PM

PR Season 1 is fascinating to watch today. Wendy comes off much much better. The clear villains were Kara, the British Bitch and Kevin. It was really hilarious to see Star's "fashions". Yes, Jay was the deserved winner but you also saw the limits of his talents as well.

PR should do a season of the first eliminated on every season so we could see Daniel Franco again.

by Anonymousreply 43June 15, 2023 8:04 PM

I wonder what it’s like to work for some of the big names, designing for their label. Quite a few of the contestants have done it, according to their bios but they don’t seem to stay long. Is it a constant churn? Low pay/long hours/too restrictive? They never gossip about it on the show.

by Anonymousreply 44June 15, 2023 10:34 PM

I hate Kara Saun.

Coming back, she still thinks she's some major celebrity.

She's very stuck up, not to mention that she also has a stick up her ass.

by Anonymousreply 45June 15, 2023 11:44 PM

They did bring Daniel Franco back for another season but he didn't last very long.

by Anonymousreply 46June 16, 2023 1:17 AM

R46, that's what I meant. He was in S2 and some of his designs were actually pretty good. He currently runs a marriage chapel in LA. Or he did.

by Anonymousreply 47June 16, 2023 1:44 AM

Wendy Pepper had Kara Saun's number.

She knew Kara was a fake and phony bitch.

And Wendy was just misunderstood, but she got the villain edit from Project Runway.

by Anonymousreply 48June 16, 2023 1:54 AM

Damn Alicia. Did you show enough titty?

by Anonymousreply 49June 16, 2023 2:09 AM

Kara's design was a monstrosity.

by Anonymousreply 50June 16, 2023 2:16 AM

Nora spoiled when she announced she hasn't sewn in years. I though they'd get rid of Kara when she cried trying to get Nora's model.

by Anonymousreply 51June 16, 2023 2:29 AM

Something is definitely missing from this show without Heidi and Tim. I enjoyed it but I probably won't tune in again.

by Anonymousreply 52June 16, 2023 2:31 AM

Loved seeing Nora again. Very mature and sweet. Kayne's look was gorgeous. Bishme's garment was safe but didn't belong in the top 3.

by Anonymousreply 53June 16, 2023 2:31 AM

Of course Vicktor is safe, he has a zipper on his ass! Brandon will be backstage in a just a minute!

by Anonymousreply 54June 16, 2023 2:46 AM

Brandon has Velcro on his ass

by Anonymousreply 55June 16, 2023 3:18 AM
Brandon has Velcro on his ass

by Anonymousreply 56June 16, 2023 3:30 AM

I find Rami really hot. And I know I shouldn't.

by Anonymousreply 57June 16, 2023 6:59 AM

I can just see Wendy Pepper rolling her eyes at Kara Saun's fake tears over switching models with Nora.

Wendy had Kara Saun's number from the very beginning.

She's a total fake and phony.

by Anonymousreply 58June 16, 2023 10:54 AM

Looks tragic. And C Siriano is the host/mentor? Idk how he became successful but his collections are always ugly as sin and his personality is nails on chalkboard.

by Anonymousreply 59June 16, 2023 11:09 AM

What happened to the really cute latino guy from Santino's season.

I think he won a Barbie doll designed outfit challenge.

Did that gross guy with the neck tattoos, who won a season, ever do anything him important? He was on with the funny, foul-mouthed red head who had like 15 children and also the dumb butch that liked to stitch flowers and put them on EVERYTHING she designed.

I also really liked that Stella chick who did every outfit in studded leath-UH.

What happened to Austin Scarlett? It was super creepy!

by Anonymousreply 60June 16, 2023 11:17 AM

R58 Wendy died

by Anonymousreply 61June 16, 2023 11:21 AM

by Anonymousreply 62June 16, 2023 11:22 AM

by Anonymousreply 63June 16, 2023 11:26 AM

So what happened with Viktor, his boyfriend, and the machete attack?

Was it a gay bashing?

Poor guy. That is SO fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 64June 16, 2023 11:38 AM

They should keep the episodes down to 1 hour. 90 minutes is too long.

by Anonymousreply 65June 16, 2023 12:09 PM

I like PR

by Anonymousreply 66June 16, 2023 12:12 PM

What I find a bit odd is that the prize for the winner of the All-Stars seasons is essentially the same as the prize for the last few seasons, and still includes a "mentorship." Do any of these designers still need/want a mentorship?

Also, seeing how much Kayne has changed since his season gave me a serious case of the, "man, I'm old"s.

by Anonymousreply 82June 17, 2023 11:02 AM

Mentorship = Networking (meeting some people who can help your career).

by Anonymousreply 83June 17, 2023 11:14 AM

Kayne looks both flamboyantly gay and like a super butch lesbian at the same time. How is that even possible?

by Anonymousreply 84June 17, 2023 11:18 AM

by Anonymousreply 87June 17, 2023 12:05 PM

R87, His sister died............. more air time for him, more story line for the show.

by Anonymousreply 88June 17, 2023 12:14 PM

That was a whole lotta nothin’. Kayne did well. Kara Saun’s was shockingly bad but her arc this season is going to be ‘from the bottom to the top’. She will shake off that Disney costume designer mantle.

Nora could be one of the most successful PR alumni, creative director at a fashion company. So many have left the business completely but she’s worked at the same place for decades. Marriage, kids, suburban lifestyle, solid job…not the worst outcome. Yes, that dress was hideous, wrong fabric, wrong colors. Even if she’d been sewing all this time, it would not have helped. It was just a terrible design.

Bisme, yes he’s struggling so just let him slide in safe for a couple weeks. Don’t prop up that awful flouncy jacket in top three.

It’s so weird that I thought Brittany was from a long ago season and it turns out she’s from the most recent one. I don’t remember a single design of hers and her lace gown this week was dreadful. I hope they don’t keep her on just because she talks a lot.

by Anonymousreply 89June 17, 2023 12:19 PM

Worse, she's a skinny BLACK GIRL who was blessed with a little tuchus and you gave her a normal black girl ass! And what kind of hideous wig did you put on her head? It looks like a rusty Brillo pad had a long night with too many tequila shots and too many cocktail weenies, if you get my drift. It's NOT a wig? Oh, jeez, who casts these models? Anyway, you made a reasonably attractive girl look like a black panther hippie dressed to burn down DC in 1968. I'm sorry he did that to you, sweetheart.
In 20 years, I'd say the two most successful designers to come out of the show by far are Christian Siriano and Emilio Sosa.

FUCK YOU, R29!!!!!

R104, Isn't he the guy who quit because of a pimple in his nose, then became a whore?

Wrong thread sorry

Isn't Austin Scarlett the one who likes to get pissed on?

Or is that Carson Kressley?

I get them mixed up.

R107 You're assuming he wasn't a whore before he was cast on the show!

Jack Mackenroth is now 'SkinCareDaddy' offering cheap Botox in NYC

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 111June 19, 2023 3:03 PM

R111, For him offer a full face of Botox for $350 and free touch ups probably means that he's overdiluting the Botox with extra saline. That price is way too good to be true. The injections won't last as long and increase the chances of complications.

by Anonymousreply 112June 19, 2023 3:56 PM

Kayne (surprisingly!) deserved to win and Bisme should not have been in the Final Top 3 (total sympathy vote).

I love the sweet guy (spacing on his name) who designed the "leg brace" ensemble but he really fucked up intruding that purple lame afterthought onto it.

Kara Saun's aqua nightmare gown was shockingly tacky, not even fit for Disneyland. Nora's beige dress was even worse, a total disaster.

And Alicia Silverstone should not be judging anyone's taste in fashion.

by Anonymousreply 113June 19, 2023 6:54 PM

Alicia was only there because of her lesbian lover is a host

by Anonymousreply 114June 19, 2023 7:05 PM

R114. Don't look at me

by Anonymousreply 115June 19, 2023 7:45 PM

Are you saying Elaine Welteroth is a lesbian R114, and that Alicia S. is her lover?

by Anonymousreply 116June 19, 2023 7:48 PM

I love Elaine.

by Anonymousreply 117June 19, 2023 7:50 PM

I am watching season three and Ivanka Trump is a guest judge.

The challenge: design for dogs.

by Anonymousreply 118June 19, 2023 7:51 PM

Kaynebow! ❤️❤️

by Anonymousreply 119June 19, 2023 8:26 PM

R118. Ivanka knows all about dressing dogs. Have you seen her children

by Anonymousreply 120June 19, 2023 9:37 PM

Fun show this week with unconventional materials (toys from FAO Schwartz) and I pretty much agreed with the judges on the 2 top winners and 2 top losers (ultimate top and bottom could have gone either way for me).

Except WTF was up with Hannah, the crazy crying Asian lady's ruched nightmare? Were there any toys involved? How was she ever deemed safe over Rami (who was admittedly disappointing)?

by Anonymousreply 121June 23, 2023 2:59 AM

I honestly did not know this was back (and on Bravo!~) until I tripped over it last night going through the shit that was scheduled. Hooray! There are some GREAT designers in the mix!

by Anonymousreply 122June 23, 2023 3:13 AM

I would have sent both of the bottom two home. Dreadful. But sooooo many fun, creative creations tonite. Britney's was adorable and Kane brought the theatrics. Viktor's coat was one of the best things I've ever seen on PR. So so premiere but great second episode.

by Anonymousreply 123June 23, 2023 3:29 AM

I imagine they kept Laurence over Mila because the former promises to bring more "watchability" even in her sullenness than the dreary latter.

by Anonymousreply 124June 23, 2023 1:05 PM

The judges even said that it seemed as if Laurence didn't want to be on the show, yet they chose to keep her. It was probably a producer's decision.

by Anonymousreply 125June 23, 2023 1:10 PM

They felt that Laurence doesn't want to be there so of course they kept her.

by Anonymousreply 126June 23, 2023 1:10 PM

I think Ninas explanation that the "I don't want to be here" attitude was common in fashion and in the end its the work that is important was valid. That said, under the work criteria I'd agree that Laurent was the lesser of two evils.

by Anonymousreply 127June 23, 2023 2:24 PM

Laurence's grim reaper cape just screamed whimsy.

by Anonymousreply 128June 23, 2023 3:05 PM

Bummed to see Mila leave early; her NYFW collection was fantastic and I thought it should have won that season.

She also used to write recaps of the show when it was on Lifetime, and I was impressed by how thorough and discerning she was in evaluating designers' work. I still chuckle remembering her spot-on observation that judges' pet Dom's dress silhouettes looked like those you would find in the special occasions section of Sears.

by Anonymousreply 129June 23, 2023 4:05 PM
The judges even said that it seemed as if Laurence didn't want to be on the show, yet they chose to keep her. It was probably a producer's decision.

Laurence is a miserable cunt.

Just absolutely miserable. No joy. No smiling. No happiness.

How can you be a designer, when you're so fucking miserable and unhappy?

Mila should have stayed.

At least she had a passion for what she was doing.

I'm happy Nina called out Laurence when she said "I'm trying." And Nina replied, "Are you?"

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Fucking miserable unhappy cunt Laurence should have gone home, and Mila should have stayed.

But of course, WOKE producers were scared to send the cunting black lady home. So the white lady had to go.

by Anonymousreply 130June 23, 2023 7:18 PM

Victor deserved the win.

His design was impeccably sewn and put together so well.

I think that all the decisions for this episode were almost perfect.

Victor should have won.

The only difference is that Laurence should have gone home and Mila should have stayed.

by Anonymousreply 131June 23, 2023 7:49 PM

I don't remember Mila from her earlier season but she sure seemed dreary and hopeless on this one.

So far, the 2 old white ladies have been sent packing. Innerestin'!!

by Anonymousreply 132June 23, 2023 9:40 PM

I think Nora is 40 so not sure if that makes her an old lady. But she is white.

by Anonymousreply 133June 23, 2023 9:42 PM

Listen.

Nora couldn't sew. She hasn't sewed in decades. She stated that, and it's mostly because now she's in an executive position where she is on the business end of fashion.

Mila also took a long break from designing, and she stated that she's just returning to fashion.

Both of them admitted that they have been out of the day-to-day work of designing for a very long time, and that's why they had a hard time with this competition.

Period. End of story.

The weak get weeded out early on Project Runway, and there are a bunch more that I can see getting cut early. Laurence, Kara Saun, the chinese lady, and Bishme.

by Anonymousreply 134June 23, 2023 9:46 PM

Kara Saun or Bishme will probably go next. i still see the Disney costume in her design. Poor Bishme should not have been asked back. He is still struggling with so much.

by Anonymousreply 135June 23, 2023 9:56 PM

R130, Laurence is one of the finest designers in the history of Project Runway.

by Anonymousreply 136June 23, 2023 11:05 PM
Laurence is one of the finest designers in the history of Project Runway

Too bad she's a miserable cunt.

And that garbage she sent down the runway on last night's episode, would say different

by Anonymousreply 137June 23, 2023 11:11 PM

Do you know her R137? If yes, how long and how well?

by Anonymousreply 138June 23, 2023 11:17 PM

I really don't think they'll get rid of Kara Saun too soon as she's kind of the Star of the All-Stars, even if she's proving herself to be quite untalented now.

by Anonymousreply 139June 24, 2023 3:25 AM

I’ve already abandoned watching this shit season.

by Anonymousreply 140June 24, 2023 6:21 PM

I think Laurence is a bit of a one trick pony. Her NYFW collection was extremely dull. Yes, she can make a chic jacket, but I don't see her as being any sort of creative visionary.

These designers each got $2000 to spend on toys and Fabio ended up making a dress out of fucking playing cards? The silhouette was interesting but it still felt very safe. I was underwhelmed.

by Anonymousreply 141June 25, 2023 12:16 AM

I just watched episode 4 and while I agree with the winning team and challenge winner, the wrong designer from the wrong team was sent home.

by Anonymousreply 142June 30, 2023 2:35 AM

Totally agree it should have been Anna. I would love to slap the fucking smug face off of the that bitch guest judge! He was such a bitch!

by Anonymousreply 143June 30, 2023 2:48 AM

I loved the winning look.

by Anonymousreply 144June 30, 2023 3:26 AM

Funny how the judges said 'we loved all of your looks' then proceeded to rip all but two of them apart.

by Anonymousreply 145June 30, 2023 4:46 AM

They said the same thing last week when the bottom two looks were truly ghastly.

by Anonymousreply 146June 30, 2023 1:47 PM

Thoughts?
After a full day in the workroom, the friends (frenemies?) all retire to a New York City lounge, where Korto takes the opportunity to file a few complaints about the aforementioned über-successful fashion designer and the judges’ alleged favoritism. Her hypothesis is that their familiarity with (and affection for) designers from more recent seasons has led them to eliminate “two OGs” thus far.
“They be like, ‘Okay, Rami, what rock did you climb from under? Okay, that’s great—Prajje!!! How you doin’, my brotha?’” she says. “Like, what the hell?” I’m not sure two data points is enough evidence from which to draw a scientific conclusion here, but it’s a theory we can keep an eye on, why not?

by Anonymousreply 147June 30, 2023 2:10 PM

I threw up in my mouth over this exchange:

Elaine: “I could see Meghan Markle wearing this look”

Fabio: “That’s royalty. That’s royalty”

by Anonymousreply 148June 30, 2023 3:34 PM

I was truly shocked that they sent Victor home for.....making a corset?? And he was even last week's much deserving winner. And such a sweetie.

No question - Anna should have gone home. Or Brittany.

Personally, I thought the non-binary ensemble was the best design. Certainly, the most refreshing.

Also, just noticed tonight that odd wiglet Kayne sports. Is it glued on?

by Anonymousreply 149July 1, 2023 2:20 AM

I’m not a fan of Nashville ball gowns by Kayne.

by Anonymousreply 150July 1, 2023 2:22 AM

Loved the non binary ensemble and was shocked it wasn't in the top. Was it the choice of color/pattern that turned the judges off? I thought it was the most elegant creation on the runway.

by Anonymousreply 151July 1, 2023 2:46 AM

Grey was absolutely the right choice of color for that outfit.

by Anonymousreply 152July 1, 2023 2:50 AM

You just knew with Korto's "story" she was gonna win.

Is it my imagination or are these sob stories that go along with the designs so much more important in choosing the winner this season?

by Anonymousreply 153July 1, 2023 2:54 AM

It looked like it was made of carpet.

by Anonymousreply 154July 1, 2023 4:07 AM

I get that Victor and Kayne's look was very Game of Thrones, but I can't believe they cut Victor. He has more creativity in his pinky finger than Anna has in her whole body. Send her home so we don't have to see her crying about the damn baby any more.

by Anonymousreply 155July 1, 2023 3:01 PM

r151 it looked like a 50s hostess dress. With hostess pants.

Korto: four African American designers in the top!!!!!! Imagine a designer proclaiming FOUR WHITE DESIGNERS IN THE TOP!

by Anonymousreply 157July 1, 2023 3:39 PM

^racism is not symmetrical.

by Anonymousreply 158July 1, 2023 3:43 PM

And 1 of the African Americans wasn't African or American.

by Anonymousreply 159July 1, 2023 5:44 PM

I saw it in Harper's Bazaar, r156!

by Anonymousreply 160July 1, 2023 10:45 PM

She may be a bit much to take but Korto and Prajje deserved the win this week. I thought their design was stunning.

by Anonymousreply 161July 2, 2023 3:54 AM

In the workroom, I didn't like the color of K&P's dress with the coat fabric AT ALL. (I thought it clashed.) The saturated blue lights they've got on the runway this year smoothed that out a lot; I wondered if they took that into account when picking the fabrics.

by Anonymousreply 162July 3, 2023 5:08 PM

What an incredibly unpleasant episode. There are those who disliked the calm of Making the Cut but compared to this, it's an oasis.

by Anonymousreply 163July 7, 2023 2:27 AM

Just watched the red fabric episode. Kara Saun and Korto are cunts. So is Kayne. Picking on Anna when all their looks were boring and reductive. Kayne’s looked trashy.

by Anonymousreply 164July 7, 2023 2:31 AM

Ganging up on Anna was very disturbing. She actually looked frightened when the other designers starting making snide remarks. Fuck you Kayne and fuck you Korto. They should be ashamed. Bullying is alive and well on PR.

by Anonymousreply 165July 7, 2023 2:32 AM

Wasn't Kara Saun defending Anna?

by Anonymousreply 166July 7, 2023 2:33 AM

R166. That was my impression. Kayne and Korto were the kunts.

by Anonymousreply 167July 7, 2023 2:33 AM

If they didn't like the decision, take it up with the judges. It was bullying.

by Anonymousreply 168July 7, 2023 2:34 AM

I thought the winner and loser were both appropriately chosen but I would have put Korto and Bishme (sp?) in the top 3. Kara Saun's dress was mightily helped by her model's extreme look.

by Anonymousreply 169July 7, 2023 2:35 AM

Kayne was being a shit stirrer calling Anna disrespectful. Why didn't he take his doughy ass out to the judges and demand answers from them? I wish Anna had rolled her eyes at that bully and told him to kiss her black ass.

by Anonymousreply 170July 7, 2023 2:42 AM

Right, R166, I meant to say Laurence.

by Anonymousreply 171July 7, 2023 2:43 AM

Kara's model was channelling Grace Jones.

by Anonymousreply 172July 7, 2023 2:47 AM

When did Anna turn black? Anyway... Kara Saun definitely copied a Grace Jones look and Korto was a total cunt. Also, I rolled my eyes when Elaine said it was so good to see three women at the top, because IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED ON THE SHOW BEFORE. Shut up Elaine.

by Anonymousreply 173July 7, 2023 3:08 AM

I thought the judges were off tonight. Anna and Brittany served ugly looks, and Fabio and Rami didn’t deserve to be in the bottom two. But I’m not sorry Hester is gone.

by Anonymousreply 174July 7, 2023 3:10 AM

It was beyond bullying.

But Anna’s dress was a fail for me.

by Anonymousreply 175July 7, 2023 3:16 AM

Rami's gown looked like a garment bag.

by Anonymousreply 176July 7, 2023 3:18 AM

I was surprised Kayne joined in on the bullying since he's probably no stranger to being on the receiving end. But they all felt this Asian woman was submissive and would just take it. It was careful editing but I'm fairly sure Fabio wouldn't have gone along with it since he defended the plus sized models from that asshole designer.

by Anonymousreply 177July 7, 2023 3:21 AM

Fat heather and Fat Sarah got away with bullying an Asian woman on Top Chef and she ended up winning a James Beard Award.

by Anonymousreply 178July 7, 2023 5:39 AM

THERE'S DIFFERENT RULES FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE. You are correct, Laurence. A white designer with a lousy attitude like yours who didn't even try would have been sent home two challenges ago.

by Anonymousreply 179July 7, 2023 10:57 AM

It's like they tried to pack the cast with as many assholes as possible.

by Anonymousreply 180July 7, 2023 11:58 AM

Anna’s dress was ugly but she followed the challenge. The judges could tell whose dress that was. They shouldn’t have gone after Anna because she was in the top 3. Her dress wasn’t the winning look, was it? I don’t remember.

by Anonymousreply 181July 7, 2023 12:13 PM

Brittany won

by Anonymousreply 182July 7, 2023 12:19 PM

Thank you, R182.

by Anonymousreply 183July 7, 2023 12:33 PM

I haven't been a fan of Brittany but loved her look last night and thought she deserved to win. Yay for white top stitching!

Agreed with the guest judge about Rami's zipper. If it was going to be featured like that it needed to be of a bigger scale. Not huge, just a little bigger.

Happy to see crazy-eyed Heather gone. Her excuse about the difficulty of the red fabric -polyester crepe - was ridiculous. It looked like a good quality poly and certainly all the other designers dealt with it well and made it look like silk. But I'll say this: had Heather had Kara Saun's Grace Joneslike model wearing her outfit (minus the silly beret), she wouldn't have been on the bottom.

I'm fully convinced there were producers in that room egging the safe designers on to elicit their opinions on Sarah. Not to say they should have kept their mouths shut, realizing they were being filmed, but I thought it was all very manipulative on PR's part to create more drama. Which they did.

by Anonymousreply 184July 7, 2023 1:44 PM

R184, her name is Anna. Had they been new contestants, I might have given them a pass but some, like Korto have now been on for three seasons. They know the drill.

by Anonymousreply 185July 7, 2023 1:58 PM

Yes, Anna! Thanks for the correction.

I think just because they've been on the show that long, some like Korto, don't give a fuck.

by Anonymousreply 186July 7, 2023 2:08 PM

If Korto doesn't give a fuck, she's deluded. She's not some big fashion designer. Who the fuck would want to work with her after seeing this?

by Anonymousreply 187July 7, 2023 2:23 PM

What made bullying Anna even worse is everyone knows she's fragile and breaks down easily therefore she's an easy target. It was cruel. Anna may not always get the challenge right but she's at least humble enough to admit it. Like someone above said if anyone had an issue with Anna being in the top 3 then they should have discussed it with the judges.

by Anonymousreply 188July 7, 2023 3:00 PM

But that's what bullies do. They identify the weak link and go after them. Would Korto and Kayne have gone after Fabio or Kara Saun? Hell no.

by Anonymousreply 189July 7, 2023 3:08 PM

I find Laurence to be one of the most unpleasant contestants on the show. Ever. Lousy attitude who thinks way too highly of her ability to use black colored fabrics. She makes a completely safe, forgettable outfit, then questions what Anna makes?

by Anonymousreply 190July 7, 2023 3:24 PM

There was a lot of hypocrisy in their attitude toward Anna. And I don’t buy it for a minute that the producers wanted to generate bullying.

by Anonymousreply 191July 7, 2023 3:51 PM

I was disappointed when it looked like Bishme was going to be pulled into their negativity. I am glad that he pulled himself away from that negativity. I am also disappointed in Prajie.

by Anonymousreply 192July 7, 2023 4:01 PM

Oh, and it’s Hester, not Heather. Hester Sunshine. Make an effort if you’re going to write about them.

by Anonymousreply 193July 7, 2023 4:08 PM

I had to laugh when Hester was so put out for being auf’d over that disaster she made, as if she invented flared pants and bikini tops. Gurrrrll, get over yourself. Your elimination was totally earned.

by Anonymousreply 194July 7, 2023 4:21 PM

Wasn’t Rami accused of using draping for every challenge during his season? I don’t remember anyone bullying him over it.

by Anonymousreply 195July 7, 2023 4:39 PM

Rami thinks he owns draping.

by Anonymousreply 196July 7, 2023 4:49 PM

Contestants on Season Four:

Simone LeBlanc 32, Marion Lee 39, Carmen Webber 39, Jack Mackenroth 38, Steven Rosengard 30, Elisa Jimenez 42 ,Kevin Christiana 31, Christina "Kit Pistol" Scarbo 26, Victorya Hong 34, Ricky Lizalde 35, Kathleen "Sweet P" Vaughn 46, Chris March 44, Jillian Lewis 26, Rami Kashou 31, Christian Siriano21

by Anonymousreply 197July 7, 2023 5:12 PM

Rami always seems to make togas.

by Anonymousreply 198July 7, 2023 5:22 PM

Kayne was heavily criticized by cunty Laura for making nothing but pageant gowns including one that was so tight the model couldn't walk. He was not amused. Getting a win this season went to his head.

by Anonymousreply 199July 7, 2023 6:08 PM

As someone who was barely paying attention to PR in its first season, I have to ask: Is Kara Saun her full name? Did she have a last name in that first season? Does she have a last name now that she doesn't use professionally? What's the true story of her name?

I think, like Korto, Kara Saun seems a bit over it all like she isn't taking the competition very seriously.

by Anonymousreply 200July 7, 2023 11:44 PM
Rami accused of using draping

Better than raping I guess?

by Anonymousreply 201July 7, 2023 11:52 PM

Korto and Kara Saun, like the older contestants, were used to a more legitimate show, unlike this one with its panel of agenda-drives dilettantes.

by Anonymousreply 202July 8, 2023 12:08 AM

Since Korto has been on three times, I'm pretty sure she knew what to expect.

by Anonymousreply 203July 8, 2023 12:19 AM

I'm not a fan of Anna's work, but there have been a ton of designers who made similar looks or repeated elements throughout their seasons. I don't get why they are all so salty. Maybe if she won the $10,000 it would be worth getting upset, but they should be upset with the judges, not her.

by Anonymousreply 204July 8, 2023 12:49 AM

R200 Her mother’s last name is Saunders - so I assume Kara Shaun is just a shortened version of her last name she uses professionally

by Anonymousreply 205July 8, 2023 1:12 AM

by Anonymousreply 206July 8, 2023 1:13 AM

Stop with the Kara Saun obsession. Fuck!

by Anonymousreply 207July 8, 2023 1:17 AM

r71, she’s a makeup artist now, I just worked with her on Joker 2 and I adore her. She’ll never design clothes again- she hates it so much now.

by Anonymousreply 208July 8, 2023 10:58 PM

R208. Oh I loved Sweet Pea. Seemed far too nice and decent to work in fashion.

by Anonymousreply 209July 9, 2023 12:10 AM
I am also disappointed in Prajie.

Why? Did you not watch his original season?

He was a fucking lunatic.

I actually think he's more subdued, this time around.
I had to laugh when Hester was so put out for being auf’d over that disaster she made, as if she invented flared pants and bikini tops. Gurrrrll, get over yourself. Your elimination was totally earned.

Totally earned.

And I'm so over her non-binary "queer" agenda.

She's delusional, if she honestly believes that it's the future of fashion.
Wasn’t Rami accused of using draping for every challenge during his season? I don’t remember anyone bullying him over it.

And he's still draping, decades later!
Rami thinks he owns draping.

I don't think he owns it, but he's definitely good at it.
I don't get why they are all so salty

Because Korto is a salty cunt.

Like most religious people (notice all the fundie/religious slogans on her clothing) she thinks she's better than everyone else.

"I'm a queen!"

No, bitch. You're not.

And yeah, she is a bully. The head bully. When the other two sharks in the water (Laurence and Prajje) smelled blood, they all went on the attack.

I agree that it was a relief to see Bishme back off, after realizing that it was getting out of hand. I always liked him.

It's understandable that people would be more competitive in a $10,000 challenge, and that Anna's design was really weak, but for fuck's sake, Christian just bought them all some free clothes! They should be grateful for that.

I really hope Korto and Laurence both go home soon, because I can't take much more of their horrible attitudes.

by Anonymousreply 212July 9, 2023 1:38 PM

Thoughts on Bishme's red ensemble? He hadn't previously impressed me but I thought his outfit deserved more attention than it got.

He was very clever to incorporate the black profile elements into it with black interfacing and fulfilled the assignment far better than Anna's, if standing out from the pack was so desirable. Why do you think he was merely deemed safe? I wonder if it on close inspection it wasn't well-made?

by Anonymousreply 213July 9, 2023 1:54 PM

R213, all of the safe people were safe because their clothes were well made, but boring.

The only designs that caught the judges' attention were the ones that caught the judges' eyes.

Kayne's gown was beautiful but boring. Bishme's was interesting, but still too safe.

They explained why Kara, Brittany and Anna were in the top and why Rami, Hester, and Fabio were in the bottom. Each had something that caught the eye of the judges, either good or bad.

The rest just fell into the middle of the pack, which is why they were all safe.

I actually agreed with all of the judging on this past episode.

by Anonymousreply 214July 9, 2023 2:04 PM

I hear you but I simply don't buy that Bishme's outfit was safe and not eye-catching, whether you liked it or not. There was nothing on the runway like it. And it was a hell of lot more flattering than Anna's sea anemone.

by Anonymousreply 215July 9, 2023 3:31 PM

I love watching Korto, but thought she was really being awful. The guy who stayed out of the fray was smart.

by Anonymousreply 216July 9, 2023 4:19 PM

I hope that Kunto goes home next.

Fuck her.

And why does her voice always sound like she just woke up?

by Anonymousreply 217July 9, 2023 10:19 PM

The producers didn't really follow through after the "fray" or whatever you want to call it. Anna is enough in her own world that she didn't seem really hurt or offended by the remarks, if she even, in fact, heard them. But the producers should have shown us a little more reactions to Kara Saun's rallying of the troops.

by Anonymousreply 218July 9, 2023 10:24 PM

I think that's coming up this week, R218.

They'll probably show it at the beginning of the episode.

And in the previews, Anna does mention how her feelings are still hurt by what the other designers said.

by Anonymousreply 219July 9, 2023 10:29 PM

I now hate Korto. What an entitled brat. Kayne is a dick too.

But Korto was the ringleader and she didn't even have the balls to say anything directly to Anna. Kayne did her dirty work.

Fuck both of them. And Laurence too. Petty little schoolyard bullies.

I hated Anna's dress, but no one deserves that.

by Anonymousreply 220July 10, 2023 7:01 AM

I had a look back through Brittany's instagram, and it would appear she has made a VERY similar outfit to the one she made in the red challenge. Surprised Kunto didn't mention that. Unless we only saw an edit where they came for Anna.

by Anonymousreply 221July 10, 2023 1:03 PM

Was Brittany’s “repeat” design one she made on the show or IRL? Because they ALL reproduce something they’ve created before. Of course they have to adapt it to the challenge. There’s simply not enough time to be original when they get “fifteen minutes to sketch”.

by Anonymousreply 222July 10, 2023 3:36 PM
I now hate Korto. What an entitled brat. Kayne is a dick too.

From here on out, Korto shall be referred to as [bold]Kunto[/bold]. In Episode 1, I started calling Kayne [bold]Aunt Joanne[/bold]. Don't know why, but he looks like one. That shall be his name going forward as well.

by Anonymousreply 223July 10, 2023 4:02 PM

Over on Reddit (I know) they were saying, based on some Instagram posts by some designers, that the argument was mostly about something else and Anna’s dress was only a part of it. It could’ve been about the judging as that’s been mentioned before. Nina didn’t say much except for being underwhelmed.

by Anonymousreply 224July 10, 2023 5:25 PM

I think it was a poorly conceived challenge.

by Anonymousreply 225July 10, 2023 5:27 PM
Was Brittany’s “repeat” design one she made on the show or IRL? Because they ALL reproduce something they’ve created before

That's why when Kunto was creating her design, the producers purposely caught her on camera saying that she was "reproducing" the thatched design using seatbelts during the unconventional challenge from her original season. Her dress in this challenge was based exactly on a design from before!
I think it was a poorly conceived challenge.

I don't think it was poorly conceived. I love that the intent was to put them all on a level playing field with fabric and accessories.

I've always complained that some challenges give certain people an unfair advantage, so this was the perfect way to level the playing field.

What didn't work was the judging.

The contestants were told to show the judges who they are as a designer. And that's exactly what most of them did. But then they all got called out for being "minimalist."

The judging should have been strictly on the design, regardless of whether or not it was minimalist.

Fabio was trying to make a very solid point when he said that his draping was intentional, whereas others were doing draping just to "fix" their flawed designs.

Fabio was doing his aesthetic (which was the challenge), but then he got called "boring" on the runway.

The designers were getting mixed messages between the challenge and the judging, which is why they were so frustrated.

And let's not pretend that we haven't seen Kara Saun's and Brittany's looks come down the runway before, because we have.

by Anonymousreply 226July 10, 2023 5:46 PM

Maybe it put them on a level playing field, but it was a boring level playing field.

by Anonymousreply 227July 10, 2023 5:49 PM

I thought it was a great challenge, give everyone the same bolt of fabric and create something with your signature on it.

by Anonymousreply 228July 10, 2023 5:57 PM

R223 I hope "Aunt Joanne" catches on here. BRILLIANT!

by Anonymousreply 229July 10, 2023 6:23 PM

Yes, I’ve always wanted a level playing field challenge (they did it with white fabric once) but this was cheap polyester. Why not buy some $$$ gorgeous inspirational fabric?? This challenge could be labeled: make cheap ass polyester look expensive even though it’s crap. Also, it’s the stretch vs woven conundrum. Stretch benefits the drapey designers. Non-stretch woven is for the tailored pattern makers. If it’s “show who you are as a designer” and you never work with stretch fabrics, well, it’s not surprising that you don’t do well in a one-day challenge.

by Anonymousreply 230July 10, 2023 6:50 PM

The red polyester crepe was not a fabric with stretch. If it looked like it had stretch, it was from the skill of those designers who knew how to work with it and drape it on the bias. Not sure what you're going on about, r230.

And I don't know why you and some others here are going on about it being such a "cheap ass" fabric. The designers who understood how to use it made it look perfectly acceptable, even elegant. Polyester crepe is often used in dressmaking for creating a mock up of the ultimate design in silk. They should all be used to dealing with it, even that twat Hester.

by Anonymousreply 231July 10, 2023 8:00 PM

Is it because of his resemblance to Jo Ann Castle R223?

She was a catty bitch too.

by Anonymousreply 232July 10, 2023 8:55 PM

I liked this challenge, too, and I didn’t understand that they were supposed to do something different than what they normally might. How can you if it’s supposed to have your signature on it? Maybe Anna was one of the only ones who understood that, except you still had designers like Praije and Rami doing what they always do. I’m sure they ALL recycled a previous look. It’s inevitable.

by Anonymousreply 233July 10, 2023 9:57 PM

“It’s poly crepe de chine”

by Anonymousreply 234July 10, 2023 10:00 PM

Hester should have gone home in the unconventional challenge. Ridiculous that she was safe for that non garment.

by Anonymousreply 235July 10, 2023 11:34 PM

I don't think the judges were ever suggesting the designers should do something they don't normally do; if they did, then Anna would have been out or safe, as we just saw a variation of that ruffled nonsense from her a couple of weeks ago. But what the judges did seem to be saying was the designers needed to find some way to stand out from a pack outfits all made from the same solid red fabric.

So mere draped elegance was simply not going to cut it. I'm not sure I agree with this but that's how I interpreted the judges' quibbles. My top 3 for standing out, but also great design, would have been Brittany, Bishme and the dreaded Korto.

by Anonymousreply 236July 11, 2023 12:15 AM

Kunto was smart to apologize. No idea why Fabio was in the bottom. Kayne and Brittany delivered two of the worst looks in PR history.

by Anonymousreply 237July 14, 2023 2:25 AM

Where can I get a glue-gunned pleather outfit?

by Anonymousreply 238July 14, 2023 6:11 AM

I was in high school in the 90s and this episode gave me bad, acid laden flashbacks.

I actually liked all the outfits. Mostly.

by Anonymousreply 239July 14, 2023 8:59 AM

It was a great runway show, but Brittany should have gone home.

She just fucking sucks as a designer.

I would have picked Rami's outfit to be in the top 3, and put Prajje in the middle.

Rami's white cargo pants were super complex and very chic.

Kunto's outfit was the worst on the team.

Poor Mama Kayne. I actually thought she would make it to the finale.

by Anonymousreply 240July 14, 2023 11:37 AM

I think Kayne might have survived if he hadn't added the cape to his garment. A cape? Why????????????? Frankly they both should have gone home. Gotta love Anna. The first one to hug and congratulate Laurence after the way she was trashed last week.

by Anonymousreply 241July 14, 2023 12:00 PM

This challenge was the first time I think I've seen Laurence smile! Her back story was heart-breaking. Getting pregnant at 16 and being disowned by her father. I wonder what happened to her baby? She didn't say, did she?

by Anonymousreply 242July 14, 2023 12:05 PM

Laurence’s leather pants were incredible.

by Anonymousreply 243July 14, 2023 2:03 PM

I can't remember which judge told Brittany if Laurence's pants were made from pleather she might be going home but that's bs. Imitation leather was just part of Brittney's problem. The design, construction and styling were hideous.

by Anonymousreply 244July 14, 2023 2:14 PM

Agree the backpack jacket was cool. Not sure why he was in the bottom. Bad luck for Kara Saun to be on the losing team. Her coat was fun.

by Anonymousreply 245July 14, 2023 3:23 PM

Fabio's outfit was very well made. I would not have been bottom three had he shortened the shirt or maybe mixed in plaid on the longer on.

by Anonymousreply 246July 14, 2023 3:47 PM

Project Runway needs to bring in younger models. Roberta is gorgeous but the design she wore made her look old. The same for MiMi. Also this was the second week in a row that DeeDee's dick was not tucked properly.

by Anonymousreply 247July 14, 2023 3:57 PM

I think Fabio was in the bottom three because the judges wanted a bottom three and not a bottom two. Kara did exceptional work and Anna is the judges darling so it had to be Fabio.

by Anonymousreply 248July 14, 2023 5:11 PM

I don't think they should be forced to use plus-sized models. In most cases, it doesn't give designers the opportunity to present their clothes as intended, in the most flattering way possible.

by Anonymousreply 249July 14, 2023 5:45 PM

Anna should've been on the bottom. Hers was the most boring and low effort looking. Korto's was crap, she's lucky she was on the winning team.

by Anonymousreply 250July 14, 2023 5:56 PM

r249 It depends on the model. The black one usually looks good because she still has an hourglass shape. There was one in the previous seasons, white woman with dark hair who probably had the record for wearing the most eliminated outfits. Mountain of a woman.

by Anonymousreply 251July 14, 2023 6:00 PM

Nina hates Fabio.

Nina doesn't know shit.

by Anonymousreply 252July 14, 2023 6:41 PM

It's funny that Brittany made the same type of pants with the split in the front that she made last week. Not a peep from Korto lol. I guess because Brittany ended up in the bottom anyway.

by Anonymousreply 253July 14, 2023 6:58 PM

I don’t know that I believe Korto’s apology was entirely self-motivated. The producers may not want that kind of drama. It’s a CLASSY show.

by Anonymousreply 254July 14, 2023 7:02 PM

Exactly, R254.

Producers didn't want the Angry Black Woman to LOOK like an Angry Black Woman, so they convinced her to apologize.

So continues the manipulation of the narrative on Project Runway.

Kunto is a fucking miserable, angry, jealous cunt.

PERIOD.

And no amount of producer manipulation will change that for me.

We've already seen her true colors.

What did that OTHER black woman say?

"When someone shows you who they are, BELIEVE THEM."

by Anonymousreply 255July 14, 2023 7:05 PM

Korto must have heard that she came off as a total bitch-bully from producers ( which is not good, since they have final say on who stays and who goes). So, they either told her to apologize or she got the hint that no one likes a bully and that her stay could be limited.

by Anonymousreply 256July 14, 2023 7:08 PM

There’s one for the taking in the dumpster outside of MoMA PS1, R238

by Anonymousreply 257July 14, 2023 7:17 PM

I don't believe for one second Korto feels bad. I actually really liked on her previous appearances on the show. But the perpetual victim shit drives my crazy.

by Anonymousreply 258July 14, 2023 8:43 PM

I like how they showed a little peek at Elaine's comment card. That's the first time I've noticed them showing that.

by Anonymousreply 259July 14, 2023 10:13 PM

I thought it was weird when Brandon told Bishme, "I didn't know you were gay."

It seemed like he was joking at first, but I guess he wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 260July 14, 2023 10:55 PM

Not saying Kunto copied Kara but her garment looked like a cheap knockoff of Kara's.

by Anonymousreply 261July 14, 2023 11:10 PM

I think that Kunto and Kara had the same idea in mind: Puffer Jacket.

Kara just did it better.

Which goes to show that going head to head, Kara's a better designer than Kunto.

by Anonymousreply 262July 14, 2023 11:11 PM

Wasn't there supposed to be more continued drama in the previews they had for this episode? Did they go back and re-edit with the apology because Korto's going to win it all and they don't want a shitstorm?

by Anonymousreply 263July 15, 2023 12:35 AM

Korto had the worse design this week. She is lucky that her team won. Also, I gathered that she was only "sorry" for getting in Anna's face but not for stance. She also seemed to imply (or it was cut) that the judges were the blame.

by Anonymousreply 264July 15, 2023 12:41 AM
I gathered that she was only "sorry" for getting in Anna's face but not for stance. She also seemed to imply (or it was cut) that the judges were the blame.

Exactly!

It was non-apology.

Basically, she said "I'm sorry the judges put you in the top 3, which made me lash out at you. Because, you know, it's a competition."

I was like, "What the fuck?"

by Anonymousreply 265July 15, 2023 12:55 AM

Kunto? Win??? Oh my sides!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 266July 15, 2023 12:55 AM

What is Nina’s problem with Fabio?

by Anonymousreply 267July 15, 2023 3:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 268July 15, 2023 4:06 PM

R242 her daughter was in one of the episodes on her season, she was around 18 then I think. Really stunning and they seemed to have a very cute relationship with each other.

by Anonymousreply 269July 15, 2023 8:14 PM

Looking at the winning team's designs, I actually think that Prajje should have won.

His look is really nice, and more importantly, wearable.

You could wear it out on the street today, and it would look fantastic.

Laurence's design is nice, but not very "ready-to-wear."

Speaking of enigmatic producer editing, when Laurence talked about being pregnant at 16 in West Africa, her father disowning her.....and then suddenly she's in Paris studying Fashion, the Love of My Life! Did they not skip a few beats there??

Honestly, no snark intended towards her but I would have loved to hear how she got from A to B.

by Anonymousreply 273July 15, 2023 10:26 PM

No question, Anna with that underpowered lazy design should have been in the bottom 3 with Kayne and Brittany (who both should have been sent packing).

And Kara Saun (whose designs I've never especially loved) should have won regardless of which team she was on.

by Anonymousreply 274July 15, 2023 10:28 PM

It is kind of funny, R274, that Anna made the same pants that Hester got sent home for last week.

by Anonymousreply 275July 15, 2023 10:36 PM

R273 afaik she was born in west Africa, then the family moved together at some point prior to pregnancy, so she got pregnant and gave birth in Paris. That’s what I remem from season 16(?).

by Anonymousreply 276July 15, 2023 11:44 PM

Ha, the producers and editors have it in for Korto. The argument last week was not entirely about Anna, it was about the judging—Elaine and Brandon—favoring the newer designers. This week, they show Elaine’s card giving Korto bad marks. Okay, Korto’s design was one of the weakest but since they never show the judging cards, this is deliberately stoking the Elaine-Korto drama. This, plus the completely OVER THE TOP hootin’ and hollerin’ during the fashion show, dear god. Even Christian is just so extra in this episode. Is there an Applause! sign permanently lit off camera?

by Anonymousreply 277July 16, 2023 12:13 AM

I just noticed with this episode how Christian has become the unchallenged star of the show. He's constantly in there with the designers, advising and distracting them. I do respect him as a mentor, I think he gives more specific and more interesting advice than Tim (Make it work) Gunn ever did, but I think we're overdosing on Christian now and a bit less of him would go a long way.

by Anonymousreply 278July 16, 2023 3:52 AM

nina can kiss my ass and sirrano is pathetic & ugly, he so rude when he pops into the work room and opens his mean creepy mouth.

by Anonymousreply 279July 16, 2023 12:36 PM

Well he’s functioning as both host and mentor so of course we see a lot if him. Maybe they could have the judges introduce the challenges so it seems like less of the Christian Siriano Show.

by Anonymousreply 280July 16, 2023 12:53 PM

I kinda do like Christian better than Tim as a mentor.

by Anonymousreply 281July 16, 2023 2:12 PM

I love Christian.

It has always made me giggle (from the very beginning of his stint as mentor) how he just pops in on the designers like a little jumping bean, and starts to annoy them like a little bug.

Then he hops on to another designer, and proceeds to bug them.

And before you know it, he hops right on out of the room.

I don't know why, but that has always cracked me up.

R283 there's another video clip from the same interview you posted, and I was reading through the comments section and found this as the very first comment:
@obhittinthree I'm an overweight, straight, middle-aged ex-jock and I love this guy. I teach HS and used to coach football and wrestling and it's for this reason. He is an exemplar teacher. His guidance during PR (got hooked cause of Heidi and wife) is all about positive coaching with serious detailed feedback. It's all about getting the best out of everyone he meets. Never condescending and beams pure class. Also, I think that if I could get away with it and had the money, I'd dress like him.

Methinks there's a straight bear out there who has a crush on Tim Gunn!

Tim brought warmth to the show. Christian isn't warm and neither are the judges.

by Anonymousreply 287July 16, 2023 4:02 PM

I know I would have enjoyed Tim's presence on PR had he been allowed to express his opinions more. Though clearly a classy guy, the producers neutered him all too often and, in retrospect, I can't imagine why as it was always all about controversy.

The only reason that sticks in my mind why she won is they seemed to over-emphasize the commercial aspect that year. Clothes that could be cheaply made and sell in volumes to a wider clientele. Really, though, all three collections were pretty commercial looking. Nine stood out as innovative or creative.

by Anonymousreply 316July 18, 2023 3:24 AM

Project Runway was created by Eli Holzman and was hosted by Heidi Klum from 2004 to 2017. It has a varied airing history, with Bravo originating the first five seasons, followed by Lifetime for eleven more.

In 2018, during the wake of The Weinstein Company's bankruptcy, the show then returned to Bravo. Klum and the designers' mentor Tim Gunn both left the show in 2018 to helm another fashion competition show, Making the Cut on Amazon Video. American model Karlie Kloss followed Klum as the new host, with season four winner Christian Siriano replacing Gunn as mentor

R294, I watched the S8 finale show without seeing the rest of the season (thus having no insight into Gretchen's personality or knowledge of her unpopularity with viewers) and thought her win was fair. The collection was well-made and of a distinct point of view--very Ladies of the Canyon--and I saw clearly who the customer was. The title could have just as easily gone to Mondo, but I don't think his placing second was particularly egregious.

More glaring examples of a winner being chosen over a more deserving runner-up, IMO, are S3 (Jeffrey winning over Uli), S12 (Dom over Alexandria), and S14 (Ashley over Kelly).

Male models tonight! Real male!!

by Anonymousreply 336July 21, 2023 1:01 AM

And they'll put them in women's clothes and call them non-binary.

by Anonymousreply 337July 21, 2023 1:15 AM

Is it me or have they dialed up the hysteria to 11? Everyone is so EXTRA!!!

by Anonymousreply 338July 21, 2023 1:17 AM

Fabio has to be out. He simply doesn't listen and insists his work is great.

by Anonymousreply 339July 21, 2023 1:37 AM

Kunto was NOT happy being in the bottom. I thought Kara's look was meh. Loved Rami's. But, of course, Kara won.

by Anonymousreply 340July 21, 2023 2:25 AM

AGAIN, Laurence doesn't follow the challenge but that's ok.

by Anonymousreply 341July 21, 2023 2:29 AM

Never been a fan of Praaje but loved his look tonight. A really great example of feminine pieces adding up to an out of this world hot sexy masculine look.

Didn't really get Kara Saun's frock. Inspired by the Tulsa Massacres?? 1920s??? Okkkkkaaayyyyy.....a great sob story to win over the judges, which seems to be the key each week now.

Any of the 3 bottoms could have fairly gone home tonight. I figured it would be Fabio because he so consistently seems to piss off the judges. Thank god Nina wasn't there tonight to pile up even more on him.

Maybe it was just a lack of time but I thought most of the looks tonight looked badly made.

by Anonymousreply 342July 21, 2023 2:54 AM

Bishme got a wake up call tonite. The look was gorgeous but enough with those fucking sleeves.

by Anonymousreply 343July 21, 2023 3:00 AM

Can't anyone make a man look like a man? It's underwear and you have beautiful male bodies that you cover with women's clothes. That's fashion?

by Anonymousreply 344July 21, 2023 3:02 AM

I was promised jockstraps!

Poor Fabio. I like him and I’ve liked his looks the last three weeks.

I don’t get Brittany’s aesthetic at all. It looks cheap and unfashionable.

by Anonymousreply 345July 21, 2023 3:03 AM

This is what the runway should look like for male models!

by Anonymousreply 346July 21, 2023 3:04 AM

Anna seems to have become everybody's cuddly mascot.

As usual, I didn't get her look at all. And it had nothing to do with underwear. But then, several of them really didn't.

by Anonymousreply 347July 21, 2023 3:11 AM

I like Kara but that Tulsa Massacre connection was ridiculous. She made a 1920s inspired outfit. It’s like someone making a 30s style dress and saying it was influenced by the Nazis. Give me a break,

by Anonymousreply 348July 21, 2023 3:22 AM

If Fabio had just had the strappy halter top thing, and the sheer shorts, he might have been safe…but tacking more flowery fabric on the top, and then putting a kimono over all of it…overkill.

Anna’s look no less met the challenge than Laurence’s. Laurence’s suit was cool, but that half assed corset was lame. Anna put a man in a dress. Did not look “underwear” at all.

I did not get the love for Rami’s garment. I thought it looked cheap and tacky. You know Heidi would have loved it.

by Anonymousreply 349July 21, 2023 3:35 AM

Fabio needed to go for that fabric. He should have listened to Christian.

by Anonymousreply 350July 21, 2023 3:39 AM

R348, the entire episode was a black pride show, so this fit in just fine.

by Anonymousreply 351July 21, 2023 5:56 AM

Korto keeps pushing 'look at all of us black designers up here!'. 'Look how inspiring we are!' 'Kara Saun paved the way!'. It's obnoxious. Even Elaine seems like she's over it.

by Anonymousreply 352July 21, 2023 8:14 AM

If a black designer doesn't win, all hell will break loose on social media from the SJWs. Who will not be allowed to win? Rami.

by Anonymousreply 353July 21, 2023 11:03 AM

Forgot to mention that I thought Paulina was an outstanding judge. Very insightful and well spoken. Since she's having money problems, the show should consider making her the permanent host.

by Anonymousreply 354July 21, 2023 2:14 PM

R354. YES! Great idea. She would be perfect. The show needs a host.

by Anonymousreply 355July 21, 2023 2:17 PM

No chance of Rami or Brit winning. Anna might make it to final three but the winner will be black.....,,,but not Kunto.

by Anonymousreply 356July 21, 2023 2:18 PM

I’m picking Kara Saun to win since I believe this is the last season and her win would tie up the show nicely. Before it started I thought Korto might be the winner but she’s getting the angry black woman edit. Laurence is another favorite because she refuses to play the screaming /over sharing idiot but making tasteful, well tailored outfits in a short amount of time isn’t enough to win. They really want an elevated streetwear designer so Prajje has a chance. But you know, he’s been around NYC for decades and hasn’t hit it.

by Anonymousreply 357July 21, 2023 2:38 PM

Kara will win to appease those fans who thought she should have won the first season. Of course she tried to cheat by using custom made footwear when the other designers were using castoffs but all is forgiven. She is the queen.

by Anonymousreply 358July 21, 2023 2:49 PM

We all stand on the shoulders of Kara Saun. It's because of her that all the black designers are on the show.

Elaine's already made her pick.

by Anonymousreply 359July 21, 2023 3:06 PM

I can’t stand listening to Korto’s voice, so if she goes next I’d be happy. I preferred Fabio’s over her shrunken doily bra.

What gets me is how much Christian helps people. I want to see the designers send down what they were originally going to do. Korto’s dangly things in the crotch area, or Anna’s gray dress which Christian said no to and she did something completely different. He not only does tells them to “figure it out” but how and what to do, his ideas have won contestants challenges or kept them safe.

Thank god Hester is gone. Her whole being is wrapped up in queerness, like some people who have an illness and it’s all about that. Sometimes I play a designing game on my phone to kill time, and each player can have a tiny bio if they choose to. One guy’s blurb was that he was deaf, gay and had health issues. Mind you, while playing one has no interaction with other players at all, and usually another player is only seen by you and for a flash of a second, but this is what he chose to put. It reminded me of Hester. I did love Hester and Fabio’s look. It was so polished.

Kara Saun for the win because it has to be.

Is there a place where one can see the final looks? I went to Bravo but only saw full episodes.

by Anonymousreply 360July 21, 2023 4:45 PM

Some blogs publish recaps that have photos of the runway but it’s not consistent. Bravo certainly hasn’t facilitated it which just proves they’ve given up on the show. Remember their website used to have background bios with their portfolios, clear photos of each runway look? Now, nada.

by Anonymousreply 361July 21, 2023 5:42 PM

I seem to remember Korto being kind of arrogant in the past, but she's become completely insufferable now. I hope the bitch loses and is never heard from again.

by Anonymousreply 362July 22, 2023 12:21 AM

Aren't all the contestants left POC except the annoying blonde chick? I think perpetuating the notion that it's still unfair toward POC needs to be retired for shows like PR.

It's not true and hurts those areas were racism is still an issue.

by Anonymousreply 363July 22, 2023 12:27 AM

R363 - it’d be hilarious if Brittany won

by Anonymousreply 364July 22, 2023 12:28 AM

I want Anna to win for a completely ruffled collection.

by Anonymousreply 365July 22, 2023 1:16 AM

R364 you know that will never ever happen in a million hundred years.

We all know it.

Which proves my point now that I think about it.

by Anonymousreply 366July 22, 2023 1:20 AM

Final three: Kara, Pradje, Kunto.

by Anonymousreply 367July 22, 2023 1:23 AM

And Korto, Kara, and Elaine will make a big deal out of an all-black final and what it means to the little boys and girls "who look like me."

by Anonymousreply 368July 22, 2023 5:19 AM

no shit, siranno is gross and dumb and very condescending. and fugly.

by Anonymousreply 369July 22, 2023 5:59 AM

by Anonymousreply 370July 22, 2023 6:00 AM

Because she is Korto!

by Anonymousreply 371July 22, 2023 1:17 PM

As for Christian, I don't think he is "dumb" or "gross," but he needs to dial back on all the handholding. He crosses the line too often from providing guidance and advice into making executive decisions for them. These are supposed to be All-Stars. Let them sink or swim without interference.

by Anonymousreply 372July 22, 2023 1:30 PM

Christian drooling over the male models was embarrassing. And inappropriate.

by Anonymousreply 373July 22, 2023 1:35 PM

Christian is normally right r373, but more importantly he doesn't make them do anything. His job is to give them advice, whether they want to listen to it is up to them.

by Anonymousreply 374July 22, 2023 1:47 PM

R372*

by Anonymousreply 375July 22, 2023 1:48 PM

Imagine is a white designer made a sheer black trench coat with some great black underwear underneath it. Then they said they were inspired by the Columbine shooting. You think the judges would applaud it like they did Kara Saun's BS?

by Anonymousreply 376July 22, 2023 11:17 PM

I’m not sure how that’s equivalent, R376.

by Anonymousreply 377July 22, 2023 11:26 PM

The show hasn’t been fun since Heidi left.

by Anonymousreply 378July 22, 2023 11:30 PM

I enjoy the show, but there is one thing that pisses me off. It's when Christian comes in one one day challenges...shopping at Mood all done....and tells the one or more of the designers they "need to rethink this." Thanks a lot, homie...can I have the three hours I spent drafting, cutting and sewing back?

by Anonymousreply 379July 22, 2023 11:35 PM

I hate Kunto and her fucking awful attitude.

She wasn't listening to any criticism, and for that alone she should have gone home.

Fuck her.

by Anonymousreply 380July 23, 2023 1:22 PM

Designers don't go home for laziness or bad attitudes anymore. (See Laurence)

by Anonymousreply 381July 23, 2023 1:38 PM

She would have gone home had she appeared on a season before these judges were empaneled.

by Anonymousreply 382July 23, 2023 2:07 PM

Her face was priceless when she was in the bottom. She was in complete shock.

by Anonymousreply 383July 23, 2023 8:12 PM

The magic really is gone. I can barely get through each episode.

by Anonymousreply 384July 23, 2023 8:20 PM
Her face was priceless when she was in the bottom. She was in complete shock.

And then she developed a very defensive attitude that came across as bitter as fuck!

"I don't care, because I still know I'm the best."

Whatever, Kunto. How insulting to the other designers on the stage, AND the judges.

Then she goes on her rant about representation, and talks about the "five of us here is historic," completely excluding Rami. Fucking bitch.

She must be a very insecure person to have to keep convincing herself of how great she is.

No wonder her husband left her.

Oh, and representation matters as long as you have TALENT. Which you don't, Kunto.

So get the fuck out of here.

by Anonymousreply 385July 23, 2023 8:21 PM

All you have to do to survive a challenge is have a backstory involving race or adversity. The judges wouldn't dare send you home. Maybe if Fabio had played that card he would still be there.

by Anonymousreply 386July 23, 2023 8:59 PM

Just caught up with this season's designers. I can't stand Kanto, prajay and the nerdy looking black guy acts so spoiled. Laurence too act like her shit don't stink. Her designs are not even that great.

by Anonymousreply 387July 23, 2023 9:03 PM

Six designers eliminated so far - not one of them black. R387, maybe they know they aren't going to be eliminated, so they have that attitude.

by Anonymousreply 388July 23, 2023 9:12 PM

Elaine/R388, I think it's pretty obvious that Fabio is part black.

by Anonymousreply 389July 23, 2023 9:17 PM

Fabio's design that got him kicked off was a hot mess and it was the third time I think he was in the bottom. He had to go home. He also never listened to anyone, the judge, Christian anyone and kept putting out these POS. It's ironic that he goes home on a gender bending lingerie challenge because he's so into unisex fashions. And he certainly played that backstory about coming from Brazil and how his mom had to work in the States and how he was beaten up at school, etc.

by Anonymousreply 390July 23, 2023 9:22 PM

The backstories give me Queen for a Day vibes. I want to see good design, not who overcame the most obstacles to be on a reality tv show.

by Anonymousreply 391July 23, 2023 9:41 PM

I think a bit part of Korto's attitude comes from the growing frustration and insecurity of competing -- and losing -- numerous times. She placed second not only on Season 5 and All Stars 3, but on the first ever All Stars Special in 2009 (with the original judging panel and a $100,000 prize). She lost to Daniel Vosovic and told him, "at least you're cuter than Leanne," the designer she lost to on S5.

She thinks she's owed big time and is not being treated with the proper deference. The savviest designers are the ones who realize the judging is very agenda-heavy and to keep a sense of humor about the whole thing. All Stars should just be an opportunity to collect a check and get free exposure for their business.

by Anonymousreply 392July 23, 2023 9:48 PM

Funny enough, I was thinking to myself a few weeks ago that Julia Fox would be a great host for next season, funny that she’s guest judge on next week’s ep!

On another note, why do even the project runway threads have to be tinged with stormfront-ish comments? What is wrong with you all?

by Anonymousreply 393July 24, 2023 3:04 AM

Korto is owed NOTHING except a fair shot. This is not a social service agency.

by Anonymousreply 394July 24, 2023 3:29 AM

I’ve been trying to think of some of Korto’s most memorable garments, and I can only think of the safety belt coat dress…which WAS fabulous..but I don’t really remember any other extraordinary looks.

by Anonymousreply 395July 24, 2023 4:11 AM

Laurent gets on my nerves

by Anonymousreply 396July 24, 2023 4:22 AM

I realized last week that none of the remaining designers are consistently good, much less great. They're all extremely uneven and unpredictable and they've all produced a hideously questionable design this season, including the aqua-obsessed Kara Saun (who I agree will inevitably win).

I really think it was a huge mistake sending home Victor, or at least, sending him home so early.

As for Christian, I think his advice is always excellent but he's spending way too much time in that room with them. Clearly, the producers see him as the star of the show now.

by Anonymousreply 397July 24, 2023 8:36 PM

I hope Rami wins.

He was actually quite hilarious in this most recent episode.

I didn't know that he had a fun side to him, because he didn't show it in his original season.

I'm glad he's having more fun this time around.

by Anonymousreply 398July 24, 2023 8:39 PM

r376, Kara's inspiration was the victims of the massacre, your design would be based on the attackers, FAIL.

by Anonymousreply 399July 24, 2023 10:01 PM

Play on your blackness and you will win this year.

by Anonymousreply 400July 24, 2023 10:17 PM

I like Kara

by Anonymousreply 401July 24, 2023 11:40 PM

Do you all think that Kara Saun realizes how badly she came across during the finale of her season, and she's trying to make up for it?

I know that Kara was a favorite heading into the finale, but Wendy Pepper really had her number. Everything Wendy said about her, was true.

Which is probably why Kara Saun disappeared from Project Runway for so many years.

Now here we are some 20 years later, and her personality is still the same, but I wonder if the shadiness is still there? Or has she grown up?

I'm curious to see how she has changed.

So far, she hasn't made a mis-step.

by Anonymousreply 402July 24, 2023 11:46 PM

She's certainly made a few mis-steps in her designs, r402.

Was she devious in some horrible manner in her first season? I really don't remember that.

by Anonymousreply 403July 24, 2023 11:49 PM

Kara was awesome for most of season one but Wendy pissed her off and alot of ugliness came out. Then she tried to pull a fast one by using custom shoes that she didn't pay for in the finale. Wendy was a cunt but Kara played into her cuntiness and came off very badly. This season is clearly her PR redemption.

by Anonymousreply 404July 24, 2023 11:53 PM

Was she devious in some horrible manner in her first season? I really don't remember that.

I don't know about devious, but definitely SHADY.

All three designers had a strict budget to use for their materials, shoes, and accessories.

The shoes Kara used for her models were custom made, but the receipts she presented for the shoes were something ridiculous, like $100 for 12 custom made shoes.

Wendy questioned it, and called her out on it for "cheating."

When Kara was asked about it, she said that her friend made them for her, and gave her a "discount."

Tim Gunn, in trying to be fair, asked her to present a receipt for the shoes, which she did.

But it was a ridiculously cheap amount that she was charged for the shoes.

Wendy called her out for it, and accused her of skirting the rules. Kara became indignant, and then refused to speak to Wendy after that.

TECHNICALLY, Kara didn't cheat. But it certainly looked shady as hell.

And it tarnished her "nice girl" image that she had cultivated throughout the show.

Flash forward to this season, she's presenting the exact same face that she did in season one, and I'm inclined to believe that she is a nice person, but I still have lingering doubts about her sincerity.
The shoes Kara used for her models were custom made, but the receipts she presented for the shoes were something ridiculous, like $100 for 12 custom made shoes.

Correction: Kara said that the shoes were "donated" to her for free.

That was the big issue that Wendy had with her.

After that, Tim said that in order to be fair, Kara had to present a bill for the shoes, because they cannot be given to her for "free."

That's when Kara called up her friend (with a major attitude on the phone) and demanded that he send her a billing receipt for the shoes, which was a ridiculously low price... STILL.

I was completely on Wendy's side after that, because she was right. Kara was cheating.

by Anonymousreply 406July 25, 2023 12:12 AM

Wendy was not a cunt. This was in the infancy of reality TV and there was no villain so Wendy became it. If you watch it today, you'll be hard pressed to see what she did that was so egregious. I watched the DVD with my young niece and midway through she asked "SHE'S the villain?"

by Anonymousreply 407July 25, 2023 12:50 AM

Wendy came off very badly. She was jealous and insecure and threw Austin under the bus. Was she a horrible person? No. Was she a cunt? Yes.

by Anonymousreply 408July 25, 2023 12:54 AM

R408 how did she throw Austin under the bus? She was asked by the judges her opinion on how they worked together and she told them. She didn't make anything up but gave her opinion.

by Anonymousreply 409July 25, 2023 1:07 AM

Kara also brought in an assistant to help her with the final show suggesting she had help putting her collection together as well.

by Anonymousreply 410July 25, 2023 1:08 AM

Kara did cheat. She knew the shoes were a big no no. She lied and said they were donated. Then she lied again with a fraudulent bill. It worked out fine though, Jay won. His line was fantastic. Every time I think of him my thoughts go to what if... or if only...

Part of the problem with the show this year is it is 90 minutes long. Almost like watching a movie.

by Anonymousreply 411July 25, 2023 2:30 AM

Why in hell is christian still there after all the complaints????

by Anonymousreply 412July 25, 2023 4:09 AM

What complaints, R412?

by Anonymousreply 413July 25, 2023 10:53 AM

It appears I'm in the minority but I like Christian. Who better to let the contestants know what the judges are looking for than someone who won the show?

He does give more advice /coaching than TG did but he's not always right. He cautioned Anna against the repeat ruffle dress but she wound up in the top. He cautioned Fabio (?) on the men's wear challenge and he was right.

by Anonymousreply 414July 25, 2023 1:36 PM

It's All Stars. He should just tell the contestant," That doesn't work for me," or " Be careful of..." and then let them figure it out. Under no circumstances should he give them the solution. At points it's very clear that he would like to be the designer of the outfit.

by Anonymousreply 415July 25, 2023 1:58 PM

WHET real superstar designers sitting on the judging panel? It just goes to show that they don't think this show is legit.
Throughout the competition, Nina, Brandon, and Elaine will be joined by some of the most exciting names from across fashion and the arts to guide the designers to glory on the judging panel for season 20, including actor, author, and activist Alicia Silverstone; actor, singer, producer, and director, Billy Porter; fashion designer, Zac Posen; CEO & founder of “alice + olivia,” Stacey Bendet; creative director of Carolina Herrera, Wes Gordon; actor, producer, and Emmy-winning writer, Lena Waithe; image architect and celebrity stylist Law Roach; actress, producer, and ’90s icon, Jennie Garth; author, actor, and model, Paulina Porizkova; designer, Sergio Hudson; actress, artist, and model Julia Fox; designer, Willy Chavarria; Below Deck's Kate Chastain; Luann de Lesseps of The Real Housewives of New York City; designer, Batsheva Hay; Emmy-winning actor, Coleman Domingo; CEO of Council of Fashion Designers of America, Steven Kolb; and fashion designer, Zac Posen.

by Anonymousreply 416July 25, 2023 2:28 PM

^ Hack Posen was mentioned twice. That's how desperate they are for credibility.

by Anonymousreply 417July 25, 2023 2:31 PM

Luann?? LOL Are they designing a gown inspired by a cocktail?

by Anonymousreply 418July 25, 2023 2:41 PM

I also like Christian, I think the way he critiques is great, it reminds me of the better crits I got in school, when the studio staff would try get you to come to the realization of how to make it better rather than telling you, while giving you technical suggestions at the same time….and he’s funny “is it gorge?” Haha

by Anonymousreply 419July 25, 2023 3:01 PM

t416- A lot of crossovers for other Bravo shows.

by Anonymousreply 420July 25, 2023 9:14 PM

my biggest complaint is the hooting and hollering during the runways. drives me nuts.

by Anonymousreply 421July 25, 2023 9:16 PM

I find the hooting and hollering more annoying when it's in response to guest judges I've never heard of. Or those simply unworthy of hooting and hollering (Alicia Silverstone??).

by Anonymousreply 422July 25, 2023 9:53 PM

As if they all recognize these D-Listers on sight.

by Anonymousreply 423July 25, 2023 9:56 PM

I'm still traumatised by Alicia Silverstone's boobs way back at the start of the season.

And I completely agree, Rescue Chick, the hootin' and a' hollerin' is distracting and uncouth. If they want us to take these designers seriously, they should make them sit back and shut up. It's a runway, not a ball game!

by Anonymousreply 424July 25, 2023 10:55 PM
my biggest complaint is the hooting and hollering during the runways. drives me nuts.

Oddly enough, I've learned from America's Next Top Model that this is a cultural thing.

Apparently, black people had to hold their own fashion shows because they weren't allowed in traditionally white venues in the early to mid-20th century.

So they held their fashion shows in black churches, and the "hootin' and hollerin'" was a unique aspect of their fashion shows.

This is interesting because it's a distinct contrast between traditionally white fashion shows, which are more subdued.

Just in case any of you were wondering.

It's definitely a cultural thing.

I love when they hoot and holler like their design is the second coming, and then the judges savage them.

by Anonymousreply 426July 25, 2023 11:02 PM

I meant the judges. They only started hooting and hollering this season. I don't mind the contestants doing! I think it's not ok for the judges because if they don't do it for everyone people know who they don't like and if they do it for everyone it's insincere (and tacky)

by Anonymousreply 427July 25, 2023 11:09 PM

Jade fucking KILLED that runway at R425.

Listen to what the models said.

They actually appreciate the energy of the audience when they're walking down the runway.

Nobody wants to walk down a stiff, boring runway. They want to be cheered!

Another example of this was the "She By Sheree" debut runway.

I'm not black, but this is definitely my kind of fashion show.

It's FUN! Not dead.

Traditional European fashion shows are just boring.

Black fashion shows are the best!

Fuck you! I designed that gown especially for her... and I'm a genius.

by Anonymousreply 434July 26, 2023 11:12 AM

R429, you would.

by Anonymousreply 435July 26, 2023 12:32 PM

In video at r425 you certainly hear whooping and hollering but you don’t see anyone who could be making all that noise. Was there an off-camera audience?

by Anonymousreply 436July 26, 2023 2:48 PM

What was wrong with Alicia’s boobs? That’s what boobs look like when you breastfeed your kid til they’re old enough to drive.

by Anonymousreply 437July 26, 2023 10:36 PM

It wasn't her boobs so much as the way they were manipulated by the fabric around them.

by Anonymousreply 438July 26, 2023 11:14 PM

They were served up on a shelf. Which must have painfully cut into the underneath part of her breasts.

by Anonymousreply 439July 27, 2023 1:38 AM

Who gets eliminated today: Brittany, Anna, or Rami?

by Anonymousreply 440July 27, 2023 12:24 PM

Brittany first, then Anna, then Rami.

by Anonymousreply 441July 27, 2023 12:26 PM

Look for the sob story at the beginning of the show and follow that contestant to the workroom to pack up their knives....er.....supplies at the conclusion. I'm betting on Rami for tonight.

by Anonymousreply 442July 27, 2023 12:31 PM

Rami is male, so he will go first.

by Anonymousreply 443July 27, 2023 1:38 PM
Look for the sob story at the beginning of the show ...

I never had any guidance, because here were no designers who looked like me to be a mentor. Now, I am grateful to this show because it spotlights only designers who look like me.

by Anonymousreply 444July 27, 2023 1:48 PM

I haven't hated everything Brittany has produced, but it's basic and forgettable. She is a rather irritating contestant. She's such a pick me.

by Anonymousreply 445July 27, 2023 1:48 PM
Look for the sob story at the beginning of the show ...

This random number tackily stitched onto my design symbolises my [insert family member or random political figure]'s struggle with [insert illness, death or random political struggle]. Cue Elaine's hand fluttering to mouth, Nina's solemn nod and Brandon's throat clearing. Such depth.

by Anonymousreply 446July 27, 2023 1:53 PM

When will we hear Brittany's sob story? What will it be?

Get crackin' gurl!

by Anonymousreply 447July 27, 2023 2:40 PM

r447 She already had a sob story, something about health troubles, passing out on a plane, which inspired her to do sportswear. It's funny because she resembles the woman in that infamous plane freakout video "that muthafucka's not real!" I thought she was going to reveal that it was her.

by Anonymousreply 448July 27, 2023 3:50 PM

Rami then Brit then Anna. Not because they're bad designers but because, well, you know.

by Anonymousreply 449July 27, 2023 4:15 PM

Brittany is white, so any sob story she might have doesn't count.

by Anonymousreply 450July 27, 2023 6:22 PM

I think Brittany had a stroke on a plane.

by Anonymousreply 451July 27, 2023 6:23 PM

Correct Brittany already had her sob story and I think she won the challenge that week.

by Anonymousreply 452July 27, 2023 11:57 PM

Tonight's show: BWAAAAAAH!

by Anonymousreply 455July 28, 2023 2:26 AM

Christian is going to get his ass plowed so hard by Rami tonight, and I don't blame him! :)

by Anonymousreply 456July 28, 2023 2:39 AM

I saw Christian’s save as a fuck you to Elaine and I’m ok with that.

by Anonymousreply 457July 28, 2023 2:58 AM

Laurence's gown was great except for the weird tit covers. I preferred Brit's. Loved Bishme. Still hate Kunto.

by Anonymousreply 458July 28, 2023 3:09 AM

They didn't even mention the tit covers and I thought that was the first thing they would criticize.

by Anonymousreply 459July 28, 2023 3:26 AM

I agree with you r458, those were so ill fitting. Rami should have gone with huge cuffed bell bottoms or palazzo pants

by Anonymousreply 460July 28, 2023 3:27 AM

Rami's models belly fat was pushing through his denim cages. Kara made her plus size model look sexy. Rami made his model look lumpy and dumpy. Pradje, who I normally love, created a great big hot mess. It was nice to see lots of love for Rami tonite. He seems like a sweetheart.

by Anonymousreply 461July 28, 2023 3:33 AM

Rami is indeed a sweetheart but he's been consistently in the bottom almost every episode. He's got taste and talent but is in no way forward thinking. When he tries to be edgy it's a disaster, like tonight. His innate aesthetic is with a mature woman in mind. Nothing wrong with that but it's never going to get the judges' love.

by Anonymousreply 462July 28, 2023 3:45 AM

I didn’t like the boobs much, but Laurence deserved the win. Korto’s was good too. I thought Kara’s was terrible.

by Anonymousreply 463July 28, 2023 4:36 AM

I realized what is is about Praje that irritates me—he has that same kind of voice that Laverne Cox and Daveed Diggs have…not exactly vocal fry, but kind of? He is a good designer though..but his jumpsuit tonight was BAD.

by Anonymousreply 464July 28, 2023 4:39 AM

I'm so happy that Christian saved his Project Runway castmaste, roommate, and friend.

It was so touching!

That said, Rami should never have been in the bottom.

Anna's dress was THE worst thing I have ever seen from an All-Stars designer.

That thing was so ugly and so ill-fitting, and just amateurish. I swear, I could have made that dress she made.

It took her five hours, and it showed.

The judges knew it too, which is why they did damage control during the critique.

I knew she wasn't going home when the judges started saying how "close" the judging was between Kara's and Anna's outfit.

Brandon was the only one who told the truth about it, but clearly Elaine wanted the asian female designer to stay.

This show is so bogus, when it comes to judging.

They all knew Anna deserved to go home, and they just made excuses for her to stay.

It was really sickening to watch.

by Anonymousreply 465July 28, 2023 11:20 AM

Anna’s dress really was bad. So was Kara Saun’s. Those button plackets she stitched at the top looked so stupid. Dry arts and crafts. It really should have been Anna and Praije on the bottom, though. I can’t even blame the fat model for Praije’s look.

by Anonymousreply 466July 28, 2023 11:54 AM

Rami's style of designing does not fit in with the new show. He designs for a more simple, elegant look, while the show has become totally about the urban, sloppy streetwear. The guest judges reflect that, and the regulars are following the narrative.

by Anonymousreply 467July 28, 2023 12:00 PM

Anna took five pairs of denim jeans, cut them into shorts, and sewed the shorts together in different directions, making a gown.

It was a fucking joke.

And it was an even bigger joke that the judges defended it.

What an absolute disgrace that they would send Rami home, instead of Anna.

Every single one of those designers did more work and had more complete looks than Anna.

I don't care how frumpy Rami's design was, or how mishmashed Prajje's look was.

Anna's was a complete joke.

by Anonymousreply 468July 28, 2023 12:22 PM

What even funnier, R468, is she was proud that she did that in only 5 hours! Only!!

ITA, R467, if you can make a puffer coat, you’re a fashion genius.

by Anonymousreply 469July 28, 2023 12:25 PM

Years ago, when the show was legit, the judges would have crucified Laurence for creating a dress that was impossible for the model to walk in. But now, it's amazing. Kors would have been apoplectic.

by Anonymousreply 470July 28, 2023 12:28 PM

Listen I'm not a Korto fan but I would have given her the win over Laurence and her titty pads. I thought Korto and Brit gave us the best looks.

by Anonymousreply 471July 28, 2023 12:36 PM

Let's be clear.

Rami's design was not the worst look.

But he will not win this competition because he doesn't fit the narrative of what the judges are looking for.

Especially Elaine.

He's male, and he's not black. That's two strikes against him.

So instead they make up lies about how his design was so awful, and old, and ugly.

All the while defending Anna's crap dress.

That's just fucking bullshit.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 472July 28, 2023 12:42 PM

And my pick for the win would have been Bishme's design.

The whole thing was impeccable.

I don't buy stupid Elaine's critique of how his dress was too "basic."

She's an idiot.

Given that Bishme designed this fabulous faux fur out of denim, if he had made a stand out dress, then she would have criticized him for "doing too much" and "not editing."

Elaine is such a fucking hypocrite, and she contradicts herself just to suit her agenda.

PS, Bishme's dress was not basic. It was impeccably done, and was subdued enough to let his faux fur coat stand out.

I cannot believe this woman is a fashion writer. She's fucking clueless.

by Anonymousreply 473July 28, 2023 12:49 PM

Although Laurence did make a nice design, on second glance, it never should have won.

It's actually kind of a mess, and it looks cheap.

Check out the v-shaped panty-ish looking thing at the crotch. It stands out in a weird way, particularly because it has a lighter color than the surrounding denim. So it looks odd.

Same thing for the tit patches. They're both lighter colored than the surrounding area, and the fact that they're just circles sewn on to cover the model's breasts, makes them look like an afterthought.

It's not as couture and elegant as it first looked coming down the runway.

But as we all know, whatever narrative the producers want to push, then that's the way it's going to be.

by Anonymousreply 474July 28, 2023 12:57 PM

I thought it was bizarre that the judges kept on going after the little spikes on Laurence's sleeves yet never mentioned the clumsiness of the tit pads.

I agree with everyone here who questioned Kara Saun's ugly dress. She could only be in the top 4 against Anna. Well, she was smart to choose Anna, the weakest player, as her competition.

by Anonymousreply 475July 28, 2023 1:12 PM

Yet, the " Who are you?" guest " judge" said she would love to wear Anna's dress.

by Anonymousreply 476July 28, 2023 1:14 PM
I agree with everyone here who questioned Kara Saun's ugly dress. She could only be in the top 4 against Anna.

No, she is the pre-determined winner, so she would have won over any of the others.

by Anonymousreply 477July 28, 2023 1:16 PM

Is there anyone on earth who isn't positive that it will be an all-black final and that Elaine and the rest will make a big deal of "designers who look like me" and what an example it is for young, aspiring black designers? There is no other way for this thing to end.

by Anonymousreply 478July 28, 2023 1:19 PM
Yet, the " Who are you?" guest " judge" said she would love to wear Anna's dress.

Well she looks and dresses like a heroin addict, so it's unsurprising that she liked Anna's dress.

by Anonymousreply 479July 28, 2023 1:26 PM

No question, Bishme shold have won and Anna should have gone home. What really infuriated me was Elaine saying she couldn't send Praije home. Really? I hate this show.

by Anonymousreply 480July 28, 2023 1:36 PM

What could Nina possibly be doing that would cause her to miss 2 shows in a row??

by Anonymousreply 481July 28, 2023 1:53 PM

Maybe Covid? You have to test 5- 10 days out negative to go back to work.

by Anonymousreply 482July 28, 2023 4:14 PM

Auditioning for Vanna's job?

by Anonymousreply 483July 28, 2023 4:29 PM

How does Anna keep skirting by? I detest Elaine with the heat of a thousand suns.

I’m thrilled Christian saved Rami.

by Anonymousreply 484July 28, 2023 4:32 PM

Elaine was not the one who stated Prajie should not go home; that was Julia Fox. I went back and checked. Also Rami would fit in Elaine's so called narrative in that he is a Palestinian male. They are disenfranchised.

by Anonymousreply 485July 28, 2023 4:45 PM

To a large extent Project Runway has always had a focus on youthful and at time edgy looks. But todays fashion is very youth oriented so that is how they judge.

by Anonymousreply 486July 28, 2023 4:47 PM

A Palestinian cis male - so no bueno.

by Anonymousreply 487July 28, 2023 4:47 PM

Elaine is a horse-faced, no talent, arrogant snob.

by Anonymousreply 488July 28, 2023 4:48 PM

It would be interesting to see the results if the judging was completely blind, like they don't know who they're eliminating.

by Anonymousreply 489July 28, 2023 5:22 PM

Prajie had a bad week. It happens to all of them. I usually love his work but he really missed the mark on this one.

by Anonymousreply 490July 28, 2023 5:30 PM

R489, I would never deign to appear on a show with blind judging.

by Anonymousreply 491July 28, 2023 5:38 PM

Didn't they do some blind judging some seasons back? Maybe as far back as the Heidi days?

by Anonymousreply 492July 28, 2023 6:03 PM

It's interesting that this season there really doesn't seem to be any nasty workroom drama between contestants or otherwise, excepting that angry moment of Korto's, which rapidly ended with an apology (a very sincere one, I thought - don't flame me!). Everyone seems to love and support everyone.

I don't know if that's a communal choice by the contestants or the producers....or both. So in place of the drama we're consistently getting these sob stories and pathetic empowerment shout outs from Elaine.

I prefer the workroom drama.

by Anonymousreply 493July 28, 2023 6:09 PM

They're all veterans of reality tv r493, none of them want to be the villain- it doesn't sell clothes.

by Anonymousreply 494July 28, 2023 7:42 PM

All the designs were blah. It was a fashion show with no FashUNS!

by Anonymousreply 495July 28, 2023 9:56 PM

I would worship Rami so much he would be too tired to make any dress.

by Anonymousreply 496July 29, 2023 1:26 AM

I love Rami, he seems like a very sweet guy. I’m glad Christian saved him. That said, I don’t think he’s a very good designer. His draped looks are very heavy and he uses dreary colors. His denim look from his original season had a lightness, a crispness that his frumpy cage skirt did not. I know what it’s like to get fixated on an idea that is ultimately not very good. I think if it had been a two day challenge, he would’ve ditched it.

Laurence is doing really well. But I remember how good she was in her season yet her final collection was underwhelming (still better than a couple recent winners).

r498. I would love nothing more than to see Rami win the competition but, save or no save, he's headed home soon.

by Anonymousreply 499July 29, 2023 1:43 PM

I imagine Christian felt somewhat responsible since his feedback to Rami was “this could win.”

by Anonymousreply 500July 29, 2023 2:00 PM

Rami could come up with the most fabulous gown in the history of PR and he will will be eliminated. I will make sure of that.

by Anonymousreply 501July 29, 2023 2:09 PM

^ I'm so psyched up for his elimination, I stuttered.

by Anonymousreply 502July 29, 2023 2:10 PM

Rami's cage design was something a skinny stick like Mimi might have been able to carry off but didn't work on that gorgeous curvy model with the platinum do (is her name Eva?).

by Anonymousreply 503July 29, 2023 2:10 PM

The " large" models throw off all designs and don't look good at all, since none of the designers are used to working with the Falstaffian body.

by Anonymousreply 504July 29, 2023 2:26 PM

It’s funny to me that our conspiracy theory posters only have something to say when a black judge saves a black designer….yet when Christian saves a white contestant (one that he knows more personally also) nobody complains or says anything? To those posters it’s only cheating when it’s a black designer.

I’m going to introduce a new perspective on this years contestants….maybe the black designers this year are just…..better.

by Anonymousreply 505July 29, 2023 4:36 PM

^Thanks for dropping by Elaine!^

by Anonymousreply 506July 29, 2023 4:39 PM

Someone had to drop by since no one else is watching this POS whose time has come and gone.

by Anonymousreply 507July 29, 2023 4:50 PM

Gosh, R505…maybe you’re on to something. 🙄

The entire set up is rigged for a specific outcome. Producers cast much stronger black designers than their non-black counterparts. That was obvious from the beginning. I haven’t really disagreed with any of the episodic eliminations except I thought Laurence should also have been eliminated in episode two because of her shit attitude.

I agree that the end game is clearly Kera Saun for the win to tie a nice bow on the series and end it.

by Anonymousreply 508July 29, 2023 4:56 PM

Also, the odds of aligning the couples the way they ended up in the last episode was pretty low . It was not random. Brittney chose Laurence to go against? Come on.

by Anonymousreply 509July 29, 2023 4:59 PM

Idk R508 it just seems the attitude on here is that if a black person wins its cheating yet if a white person does its talent. Did you think Christian saving Rami was a race conspiracy?

The top 3 in one of the other all stars seasons was all black men too…Ken and Stanley and the other guy whose name I can’t remember (that won) were they all cheating too? You people are just suspicious of black people, and can’t acknowledge that they might be talented and deserving in their own right, there’s a word for that I think.

by Anonymousreply 510July 29, 2023 5:04 PM

It’s not a matter of “cheating”. Christian can use his save however he wants, and he was very candid that he was motivated by personal feelings.

by Anonymousreply 511July 29, 2023 5:19 PM

Get off your cross, R510. Nobody here cares if a black designer wins. I’ve already said I believe the black designers this season are more talented. You can see the manipulation from producers from space though .

I would actually like to watch a competition show for once that doesn’t “produce” the outcome they want. RDR is also guilty of this. Just have a fair playing field and let people compete.

by Anonymousreply 512July 29, 2023 5:20 PM

R511 I didn’t say it was cheating. And yes he clearly was motivated by his personal relationship with Rami…is that fair to the other designers? People accuse Elaine of scoring looks for personal beliefs….but not Christian. It’s cheating when it’s black people, it’s cute and emotionally invested when it’s white people.

by Anonymousreply 513July 29, 2023 5:22 PM

If you didn’t say it was cheating, I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to the person who did say it. It’s not all about you.

by Anonymousreply 514July 29, 2023 5:24 PM
You can see the manipulation from producers from space though .

Maybe you do, but I don’t personally. And I think the reason you do might be because of some subconscious bias on your part. Laurence is clearly the best designer in the bunch, she will win (deservedly) unless she fucks it up. And people here will say it’s rigged “see I told you so!” when it will just be because she’s most talented. I can see that from space.

by Anonymousreply 515July 29, 2023 5:24 PM

Bitch, R513, go back to Reddit with your nonsense. Quit looking for racists behind every bush.

by Anonymousreply 516July 29, 2023 5:25 PM

R516 sorry but I wasn’t the one that started talking about race in this thread. Just providing a counterpoint to the people who started it. I wouldn’t have to look for racists if they didn’t start jabbering on about a race conspiracy on project runway of all places.

by Anonymousreply 517July 29, 2023 5:28 PM

Oh, look at that. It was you I was talking to, r514. I guess it is all about you.
It’s funny to me that our conspiracy theory posters only have something to say when a black judge saves a black designer….yet when Christian saves a white contestant (one that he knows more personally also) nobody complains or says anything? by Anonymousreply 519July 29, 2023 5:29 PM

R518 lol wtf is your point?

by Anonymousreply 520July 29, 2023 5:39 PM

At this point I don't care who wins. The challenges are tired (denim again? A toy store again? Lingerie again?) and the episodes are too long. Plus they're scraping the bottom of the barrell with the guest judges (Megan who?) as well as Elaine and Brandon. Nina is still delightfully cunty but the judging suffers when she's not there. The models lack any personality. Time to pull the plug.

by Anonymousreply 521July 29, 2023 5:43 PM

Laurence is the most sophisticated designer but PR prefers streetwear designers now.

by Anonymousreply 522July 29, 2023 5:45 PM

R522 that’s kinda reflective of the entire fashion industry rn tho, it’s not unique to project runway. Streetware sells really well because it’s what a lot of customers actually wear in their real lives. Nobody is going around in Grecian draped gowns Monday to Friday.

by Anonymousreply 523July 29, 2023 5:54 PM

They're not??

by Anonymousreply 524July 29, 2023 6:24 PM

I've noticed that Producer manipulation is very evident in two shows that I watch:

1 - Project Runway

2 - The Great Food Truck Race

Project runway uses emotional manipulation, judging manipulation, and clever editing to try to sway audience opinion in favor whoever they want to win, and against whoever they want to go home.

Stupid sheeple buy into it, but I certainly don't.

Anyone with eyes can see when the judging is completely off, and those assholes should be called out for it.

Anna should have gone home, and Bishme should have won.

As for the Great Food Truck Race, they just blatantly cheat and change the rules on a whim.

It's really quite awful.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 525July 29, 2023 6:50 PM

What does audience opinion have to do with getting who they want to win to win and who they want to leave go home? The audience doesn’t get a say.

All reality competition shows manipulate the audience through editing. There’s even the terms “winner’s edit” and “loser’s edit” to describe it. Though sometimes they fool you. I thought Fabio was getting a winner’s edit last week, but no.

by Anonymousreply 526July 29, 2023 7:23 PM
What does audience opinion have to do with getting who they want to win to win and who they want to leave go home? The audience doesn’t get a say.

It legitimizes the cheat.

That way, you don't question when designers are eliminated, even when they shouldn't have been.

Or in Anna's case, you don't question why she gets to stay, even when she doesn't deserve to stay.

It's mind control.

"Our judges are so smart. They know what they're talking about, because they're experts!" And the producer manipulation reinforces all of that, so no one gets accused of cheating.

But the truth is, the producers choose the winner based on who THEY want to win, and not who DESERVES to win.

And they editing just makes the viewer buy into the producers' decision.

THAT is how television works.

by Anonymousreply 527July 29, 2023 7:29 PM

Girl, your entire post is giving me college kid smokes weed for the first time and talks about how we live in a society.

You mean the TV show you are watching is structured around presenting storylines that flow with what is happening on screen? Gasp.

Also I can't with judges own decisions being mind control.

I think you need to take a walk outside love. Touch some grass as the kids would say.

by Anonymousreply 528July 29, 2023 7:43 PM

Legitimizes the cheat. Lord, MAGAt mentality has invaded PR.

by Anonymousreply 529July 29, 2023 7:53 PM

It's rather hilarious that you think that Elaine can't be racist

by Anonymousreply 530July 29, 2023 8:29 PM

Elaine has a very definite agenda that permeates every show - showcase black designers, especially women. Period.

by Anonymousreply 531July 29, 2023 8:52 PM

R531 you say that like it’s a negative.

by Anonymousreply 532July 29, 2023 9:20 PM

And it's all even worse this season with judges like Elaine, Brandon and the guests who nobody ever heard of....why should we trust their "expert" opinions. Oh, how we long for the days of Michael Kors. Even Heidi's opinion as a supermodel was more informed than these idiots.

by Anonymousreply 533July 29, 2023 9:27 PM

"Actress, activist"............... such qualifications.

by Anonymousreply 534July 29, 2023 9:36 PM

How old are you all to not know who Julia fox is?

by Anonymousreply 535July 29, 2023 9:37 PM

R525 - it’s a reality show, not a game show. Different rules.

by Anonymousreply 536July 29, 2023 9:50 PM

Let's just say we're old enough not to care who Julia Fox is.

Who is she, btw, r535?

by Anonymousreply 537July 29, 2023 9:50 PM

R536, yes it is a game show. It's a competition.

by Anonymousreply 538July 29, 2023 9:53 PM

After reading Julia's Wikipedia page, I am quite sure we haven't missed out on anything by not knowing who she is.

by Anonymousreply 539July 29, 2023 9:58 PM

R537 she’s a fashion it girl. Wears a lot of kinda newish designers, gets lots of internet buzz. She has a kinda cool tour of her home video where she lives in quite a regular apartment in NY. She’s in some A24 movie, seems like quite a down to earth person. Kinda like a Chloe Sevigny of this time. I mentioned upthread but I think she’d make a rly good host of the show for next season.

by Anonymousreply 540July 29, 2023 10:11 PM

R538 - and because it’s not a game show, they don’t have to be fair.

by Anonymousreply 541July 29, 2023 10:15 PM

Like Chloe Sevigny? Does she enjoy to-ast?

by Anonymousreply 542July 29, 2023 10:28 PM

Julia Fox made her point emphatically that Rami needed to go. I think it's ballsy to expect the professional judges to honor her opinion.

Oh I thought that was Megan Fox. Is Julia her sister?

by Anonymousreply 544July 29, 2023 11:23 PM

I noticed for the first time this episode that Elaine is the president of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee!

by Anonymousreply 545July 30, 2023 3:02 AM

word is Sirano will be gone next year. he is not liked. he is a asshole.

by Anonymousreply 546July 30, 2023 12:26 PM

He will be replaced by an "edgy, contemporary" black trans man.

I'm available!

by Anonymousreply 548July 30, 2023 1:10 PM

We keep hearing that this is the final season of PR. Has there been any announcements about casting or a future season? One reason the show kept having All Star shows is because young upcoming designers simply did not want to be on the show for various reasons, almost all of them valid.

by Anonymousreply 549July 30, 2023 4:52 PM

They didn't want to be judged by idiots.

by Anonymousreply 550July 30, 2023 6:48 PM

The winner of this season could be the new mentor.

by Anonymousreply 551July 30, 2023 7:06 PM

Doubt it. They all lack personality and, apparently, taste.

by Anonymousreply 552July 30, 2023 8:07 PM

They should bring back Austin Scarlett as a mentor. He would give the show some much needed warmth.

by Anonymousreply 553July 30, 2023 8:11 PM

The show is fairly rudderless this season and I think that's partially because there's no true host. It could also be that the show has simply run its course and those seasons away from TV had the public moving forward without them.

by Anonymousreply 554July 30, 2023 8:20 PM

I don't think it will ever be as good as it was in the era with Heidi, Tim, and Michael Kors. I wish Making The Cut were closer in spirit to the old PR. Next In Fashion is actually pretty close and I enjoy it, although it is also very streetwear focused.

Christian isn't perfect, but for me he's more tolerable than Elaine or Brandon.

by Anonymousreply 555July 30, 2023 8:26 PM

The only thing I disagreed with in Michael Kors’s montage, was the purplish/blueish dress with the red trim. I really like it.

by Anonymousreply 556July 30, 2023 10:41 PM

I wish that Making the Cut went back to the exotic locations- it was so exciting to see a runway show in front of the Eiffel Tower.

by Anonymousreply 557July 30, 2023 10:45 PM
word is Sirano will be gone next year. he is not liked. he is a asshole

R546 imagine that

by Anonymousreply 558July 30, 2023 11:03 PM

Maybe he’s considered an asshole because he says things the designers don’t want to hear. I think he’s fun, and it was rare to see him get emotional with Rami.

by Anonymousreply 559July 30, 2023 11:16 PM

Rudderless? No true host??

WTF do you think I'm doing there?

by Anonymousreply 560July 30, 2023 11:52 PM
One reason the show kept having All Star shows is because young upcoming designers simply did not want to be on the show for various reasons, almost all of them valid.

Get a load of this moron. Really, r549, how many designers have turned them down? What were their reasons? Which of those reasons are valid and which are invalid?

by Anonymousreply 561July 31, 2023 12:17 AM

I’m pretty sure they could find a dozen hopefuls wanting to be on the show. The show would still be good exposure.

by Anonymousreply 562July 31, 2023 12:21 AM

Surely it's easier to find new designers looking for a break than it would be to convince previous designers to come back. They already know how stressful it is and how biased the judging can be.

by Anonymousreply 563July 31, 2023 12:26 AM

I assume designers, whether new or returning, on PR are paid, aren't they? How much do you think they make?

by Anonymousreply 564July 31, 2023 12:43 AM

I never thought they were paid, except for “the winner of this challenge will get $5000 donated by Red Robin” or whatever corporate tie in they had for that episode. I think the models are paid but they weren’t in the first season.

by Anonymousreply 565July 31, 2023 3:17 AM

They will get some small amount of money for each episode they film. I know drag race contestants get like 500 bucks an episode or something. People are stepping away from their normal jobs and still need to pay the bills.

by Anonymousreply 566July 31, 2023 4:26 AM

I can't wait to see the Below Deck episode.

Whoever gets to dress Captain Jason from BD Down Under is one lucky bitch!

As predicted, the "judges" had their focus on eliminating Rami, but were foiled this week. Who gets the boot this week: Rami again, Brittany, or Anna?

by Anonymousreply 568July 31, 2023 12:17 PM

Rami obviously, R568.

He's a male and he's not black.

That makes him the Devil, in Elaine's WOKE eyes.

by Anonymousreply 569July 31, 2023 12:20 PM

Oh God I hope Rami makes it through another challenge. Sending him home again would be too humiliating.

by Anonymousreply 570July 31, 2023 12:41 PM

We fucking had plans to eliminate everyone who doesn't look like me, but fucking Christian had to fuck it up! It was perfect: Nina was gone, Brandon is a pussy who will do anything I demand of him, a model actress who is unknown was on the panel as was an urban designer. We have another chance to get to the point where every designer looks like me, because they had the hardest road to travel, due to systemic racism. But we ( I) can eliminate racism by having a revolutionary finale, but we have to get rid of the Arab, Barbie, and Ching-Chong. Fucking Siriano can't block it now. I've already signed Sunny Hostin and Eboni K. Williams to be guest judges for the finale, so my plans are going to work out.

by Anonymousreply 571July 31, 2023 12:53 PM

But he’s PALESTINIAN. That trumps everything!

by Anonymousreply 572July 31, 2023 1:02 PM

So, he's a fucking terrorist! No one or nothing trumps me on this show, bitch. I have ultimate power, because I have been oppressed and that is the storyline of the show.

by Anonymousreply 573July 31, 2023 1:45 PM

I hope Laurence makes it to FW because I think this time she’ll really step up.

by Anonymousreply 576July 31, 2023 7:53 PM

What is she doing on PR, then, r575! We should sic her on Ron DeSatan!

by Anonymousreply 577July 31, 2023 8:28 PM

Has there ever been a straight man on the judging panel?

by Anonymousreply 578July 31, 2023 9:03 PM

I've mentioned this upthread but on on the last all stars season the top four were either african american or afro latino (at least I think Fabio has some African heritage but idk). This was with judges Izaac, Alyssa and Georgina. It seems like a lot of racially motivated hate for Elaine upthread that's insinuating she's somehow more in control of the direction of this season. As always the simplest explanation is usually what's happening, and I think this season the black designers are making better clothes. Which seems to be bringing out a lot of racial insecurity in the commenters here. "tHeY'rE cHEAtInG!!1!1!!!" lol how embarrassing.

by Anonymousreply 579July 31, 2023 9:24 PM

Rami is a good dressmaker… for older women. No young women are looking for Grecian gowns. They want puffer jackets over their skimpy dresses.

by Anonymousreply 580July 31, 2023 11:20 PM

This is what the judges seem to want:

I wonder how these designers would do in an avant garde challenge. I think Laurence and Anna could pull it off. Brittney failed miserably in the AG challenge in her season.

Biebs in a suit that would thrill the panel.

If Rami had known how the show had changed from legit to joke, he probably would have declined.

by Anonymousreply 585July 31, 2023 11:53 PM

Agree r580. I like Rami a lot but let's not kid ourselves, the outfits he has sent down the runway have been nice and well made but they are not the type of fresh, modern fashion the show rewards. I'm sure he has stable living making beautiful evening gowns for the ladies who lunch.

by Anonymousreply 586August 1, 2023 12:45 AM

Where does Rami live and work? Is he still in Palestine?

by Anonymousreply 587August 1, 2023 12:46 AM

Rami immigrated to this country in 1996 and has been working in Los Angeles since then.
Rami is currently based in New York where he finds inspiration in his roots and strives to pay homage to his homeland through social impact Palestinian embroidery design projects that are imbued with personal meaning, reflecting his childhood memories and culture.

Love Rami and glad he pulled it off this week BUT why did no one mention the old lady cape? Eek. Prajie fkd up royally. Surprised no one called out Brit for using top stitching again. Bishme nailed it. Kara and Laurence were hilarious defending their designs. Follow the actual challenge dear ones. Anna! Silk??? Really???? But Prajie deserved to go home for that hideous bargain basement look.

Prajje had Captain Shandy?

by Anonymousreply 593August 4, 2023 2:45 AM

There were some bad designs tonight. I didn’t hate Anna’s look but the judges were right that it didn’t convey an ounce of authority. The captain doesn’t need to have his tits out.

by Anonymousreply 594August 4, 2023 3:10 AM

Was it Praaje’s client who looked like he was in a Michael Jackson video? That was ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 595August 4, 2023 3:13 AM

Well, call us crazy but my hubby and I loved Anna's look for the Captain (and we're not Anna fans). Thought it was very sexy and surprisingly masculine and effortlessly confident. His love for the outfit went a long way in selling it but why not?

Praaje's client looked like a waitress in a cheap hotel bar. And Kara Saun's was just hideous, totally lacking in taste and skill! Either of them should have been dismissed before Anna.

by Anonymousreply 596August 4, 2023 3:16 AM

Another episode with no drama, no personal conflicts, no bitchiness between fellow contestants, not even any client meltdowns. A virtual love fest.

If only Captain Shandy had gotten drunk.

Now that would be a party!

Laurence wanted to design a leather jacket whether it made sense or not. I think what really did Anna in was the use of silk. Stupid move. Sandy looked like an idiot. And I swear she was drunk. LuAnn looked gorgeous and she made some good points.
