Excellent horses, great music, furs and jewels.
What is that fur, the King wore in his carriage? White with black spots? Ermine?
His scepter was covered with diamonds
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 6, 2023 2:19 PM |
Yes r4, that fur would be ermine, The ermine is a variety of weasel, and is also called a stoat. (But ermine sounds so much better.)
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 6, 2023 2:26 PM |
The Princess Royal can cockblock . She has the bigger todger.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 6, 2023 2:26 PM |
So those were REAL diamonds?!!! Wow! The King must be a very rich man.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 6, 2023 2:26 PM |
Why does he always look like he's going to lunge at some ones throat?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 6, 2023 2:44 PM |
William has dark energy. Harry is all light and positivity
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 6, 2023 2:47 PM |
An exhausting ceremony, most ceremonies are. No wonder people are quitting the monarchy.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 6, 2023 2:58 PM |
I kind of love Camilla’s ladies-in-waiting's style.
(Is that correct grammar?)
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 6, 2023 2:59 PM |
R13 But didn't they look a bit like nurses?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 6, 2023 3:23 PM |
Klan Grannies go home.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 6, 2023 3:28 PM |
Charles will probably last another decade and then it will be William the Bald's turn. He always looks miserable and as if he'd bite your head off at a moment's notice.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 6, 2023 3:32 PM |
Has anyone mentioned the Middletons yet? Where were they sitting, with the public?
If you must wear yellow, and you shouldn't, Pippa's dress was the right yellow=pale lemon. Any other yellow and the color is wearing you.
Carole Middleton put too much eyeliner on, her headband is to large, but she has amazing hands for a 68 year old.

R13 You're old dear.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 6, 2023 3:38 PM |
r6 Why are the fans angry?! Anne could be protecting Harry by doing that from all the cameras he claims traumatise him! On another point I have read speculation and comments elsewhere online that Harry's eyes were very dilated today as if he was high or under the influence of drugs or taken drugs the night before??
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 6, 2023 3:46 PM |
One can always count on NoPalmOil at R13 to praise some questionable setup.
I used to like her posts, but now, more and more, I see she is just a basic bitch from the South with a taste for the tacky, who is a housewife to a man.
Disgraceful.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 6, 2023 3:49 PM |

chatter on. Damn Harold really has no use for his family. Already on a plane back to the B**** of Montecito as quickly as possible.
Now maybe he'll just be ignored. Sad for me, before MM entered his life, he was a fun guy who seemed to do interesting things and could easily speak with Brits.

R539 Yes, Harry’s kids are very young, but the point is it’s a historical event involving their immediate family so it would be nice for them to know in some way that they were included in some way.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 6, 2023 5:59 PM |
FLOTUS attended and was surprisingly well dressed
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 6, 2023 6:08 PM |
R30 more than likely those kids won't give a rat's ass. They'll grow up American where royalty is just not thought of much.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 6, 2023 6:14 PM |
R32, sure thing. That's why we invite our own like the Kardashians and others of their ilk.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 6, 2023 6:18 PM |
The Kardashians are not royal though like them they are also trash.

by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 6, 2023 6:39 PM |
r38 Obscure? Hardly it's a place mentioned on here a lot. Besides it's all part of the gossip, speculation, butchery and debate mix on here throughout the forum. Do you think he looked high on drugs?

by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 6, 2023 6:54 PM |
r42 Do you think he looked high or had telltale signs of drug use especially in his eyes?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 6, 2023 6:57 PM |
The two ladies in waiting looked like stand-ins for Camilla. Similar age, similar hair, similar dress. If you had to do a police line-up of suspects resembling Camilla, you could use those two ladies.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 6, 2023 7:00 PM |
Did William and Charles even get to see Harry?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 6, 2023 7:00 PM |

R52, I think it's quite an ugly crown too.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 6, 2023 8:07 PM |
I wish Charles and Camilla well and hope that his reign is one for history books as a sovereign who leaves a legacy of improving the lives of his people. But after watching this morning's ceremony, I wonder, "will William have the same ceremony?" It seemed so anacronistic of a previous age.

I guess now that her mother is gone, she's dropped any pretense of femininity.

In terms of the celebrities at the Coronation I'm surprised Joan Collins and Shirley Bassey weren't invited- I thought they were favourites of Charles?
by Anonymous | reply 103 | May 7, 2023 5:22 AM |
I'm not a Brit so Charles ain't my king.
And, boy, did he look unhappy throughout the Coronation. What's the matter with him? He waited 73 years to be crowned king and yet he looked like he'd been taken hostage.
He claims he wants to modernize the monarchy and Saturday was the time to do it. But no. It was the same crap-a-palooza we've come to expect from the royal family
And at a cost of 100 million pounds.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | May 7, 2023 5:35 AM |

Harry had false bravado, he was smiling and greeting people who were ignoring him and that had to be embarrassing. He learned from his wife the actress to plaster a smile on his face. But you can see when the guard drops. He will be ranting to his wife and they will be scheming up more things.

by Anonymous | reply 108 | May 7, 2023 7:51 AM |
R96, you are a motherfucker.
How many of your brain cells died as you were you trying to come up with that response?
Holy shit.

[quote]Princess Anne was not traumatised by being too young to attend her mothers coronation
To be fair, Princess Anne was not traumatised by being the victim of a kidnap attempt in which her chauffeur and bodyguard were shot beside the car and the baddie spent a full 15 minutes trying to drag her out of the vehicle. This was before mobile phones and a taxi ended up calling it in. She told the kidnapper calmly she wasn't going anywhere.
I don't think "Princess Anne" and "emotional trauma" belong in the same worlds.

What is so important about a kid’s fourth birthday party?
by Anonymous | reply 114 | May 7, 2023 11:21 AM |
I hope he turns out like Edward VII, who waited so long to ascend the throne and people thought he'd be a disappointment but his short reign (9 years) is actually regarded as surprisingly successful. His mother Victoria was a very lazy and vain monarch.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | May 7, 2023 11:47 AM |
For some parents it's important R114.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | May 7, 2023 12:09 PM |
R116, As if the kid is going to remember.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | May 7, 2023 12:13 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 118 | May 7, 2023 12:18 PM |
A four year old is more likely to remember a unique experience of a coronation with 1000s of people and an airshow than ice-cream and jelly. Archie should have been there

[quote] A four year old is more likely to remember a unique experience of a coronation with 1000s of people and an airshow than ice-cream and jelly. Archie should have been there
Markle should have been there, on behalf of her children.
I believe it's possible that Markle will one day 2nd guess, if not regret, her decision to not attend the Coronation; that she didn't just for a couple of hours, endure being there, if for no other reason than for her children.
I'm not a Frau, far from it. My observation isn't based upon a Karen's lament of "What about the children!?"
It's based upon posterity.
When Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet become older, curious children, they're going to wonder about all of this, ask questions, seek context. Yes, they'll see images of their father at the Coronation, but not Mom.
And, oh, by the way, who insisted on those Prince and Princess titles for their children?
I suppose, however, it asks too much of Markle to do that on behalf of her children. She didn't even want to preserve her own connection to the BRF, unless it's to milk it for money and celebrity.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | May 7, 2023 12:49 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 122 | May 7, 2023 12:55 PM |

R113 Harry was mugging like a talk show host laughing and greeting people and most in return were studying their shoes or looking sideways to avoid eye contact with him. He learned the smiling and acting like he is talking to somebody act from his wife. In pictures you may be able to pull it off but on video when the people aren’t responding back it doesn’t work.
The husbands of Eugene and Bea got stuck talking with him.

R125 - I have no idea what a "klan granny" is, so don't know why it is automatically irrelevant. If DL allows, here's what was written: Markle should have been there, on behalf of her children.

She was smart not to go. Her presence would have been a distraction that the tabloids would have seized upon. Every twitch of her face would have been scrutinized and given an inordinate amount of press attention. She's done with the royal sh*tshow and good for her.

Stan Grannies for Markle can’t, are unable to, or won’t out of sheer desire to troll, comprehend any nuanced, deeper observations about her.
I’ve posted empathetic things about Markle, acknowledged that I’ve no doubt she was the target of bigotry, but unless you discuss her as being the equivalent of Mother Theresa with a title, mansion and activist cred, you’re a Klan Granny.
They’re just like her haters. You’ve got to see Markle as spotted in the Wuhan Lab wearing a white lab coat unleashing Covid and she’s the bad seed spawn of someone spotted on the grassy knoll.

by Anonymous | reply 142 | May 7, 2023 5:08 PM |
It really is too bad that Meg didn't go, to bad for us anyway, I'm sure Charles was hugely relieved.
Because it would have been SO easy for her to steal the show, without being obvious about it. Just swan in wearing a red Full Alexis outfit with a huge hat that blocks the view of the people behind her, walk with her head held high and a swing in the hips, bestowing smug knowing smiles at all the stuck-up aristocrats! Think of the headlines, the social media pics!
Or better yet, dress as the picture of demure elegance, and just... look hurt every time she was snubbed! Seriously, if she'd gone and just taken the trouble to look hurt every time someone snubbed her, or to look sadly at Harry each time, or to wipe away that trademark single tear in view of a camera, nobody would be talking about anything else these days! There'd be no end of discussion about racism and snobbery in royal circles, which is exactly the kind of talk her brand needs. She was a fool to stay home.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | May 7, 2023 5:26 PM |

Agreed, for the most part, and I'm entertained by your post.

Or, mostly, how about accompany your husband, dressed in expensive inconspicuousness, take your seats, see and be seen, then leave?
[quote] She was smart not to go. Her presence would have been a distraction that the tabloids would have seized upon. Every twitch of her face would have been scrutinized and given an inordinate amount of press attention. She's done with the royal sh*tshow and good for her.
Your observations call for the total opposite conclusion then "She was smart not to go". To the contrary, it's for those very reasons, and her children, that she should have attended that Coronation.
The Sussexes have nowhere to go but down. They're aging. Their becoming more irrelevant by the second. They going to need every ounce of exposure they can get.

Seriously, if she'd gone, and taken the trouble to look crushed whenever she recieved the snubs that Harry tried to ignore, nobody would be talking about anything else today!
It was an 100% golden opportunity to make headlines without looking like she was trying to get headlines! All she had to do was react to the snubs and slights like a normal human being would, she could even have made a subtle show of smiling graciously at the snubber, and then turning to Harry with a sad look in her eye. If he'd had the sense to bring her, and give her a little hug of comfort after all those people snubbed them both, they'd have bazillions of new fans and be dominating the blogosphere!
A golden opportunity, completely missed. All they got out of it was pictures of Harry sulking.

R154. Haha. The pair have desperately been begging for attention ever since the Coronation was scheduled, endlessly leaking their conflicting feelings and then rudely confirming after the response date had passed. They did everything they could to make sure they verre the center of attention on the day. Now their sycophants are bitching about the success of their strategy. Everyone was paying attention to them, but unfortunately not in a glowing way.
Meghan and Harry are like the two children in class whom you try to ignore as they scream and pull your hair to get your attention. Then they are shocked that the attention you hide them is negative.
And why did they have to release a photo to detract from the coronation? An active member of the royal family would rightly be criticised for doing so. As non-working members they shouldn’t be releasing photos at any time. They are two people seeking privacy whose lives don’t have any public relevance.

No Coronation medals for the first time since George IV. Charles' office and the Government are squabbling over who should receive them, the cost of them, and the Government says there is a metal shortage.
No King Charles Royal Family Order for favored Royal ladies. George IV gave them to his sisters, sisters-in-law, and some nieces. William IV gave only one...to his wife Queen Adelaide. Queen Victoria, Kings Edward VII, George V, George VI all had Royal Family Orders given to many female relatives. Elizabeth II was less generous, having just over a dozen made for her mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, three daughters-in-law, one granddaughter-in-law, cousin and cousin's wives, and her aunts. Sarah, Duchess of York, her daughters, and Princess Michael of Kent were all notable omissions.
The Royal Family Orders are paid for by the sovereign from personal funds, and Charles is known to be a cheap cunt when it comes to anyone but Camilla.

by Anonymous | reply 239 | May 10, 2023 7:29 AM |
The first recipients of Elizabeth II's Royal Family Order were given them months prior to her coronation. They were her mother, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, Queen Mary (who ended up dying before the coronation took place), Princess Margaret (her sister), the then Duchess of Gloucester (her Aunt Alice), the then Dowager Duchess of Kent (her Aunt Marina), Princess Alexandra (her cousin), the then Princess Royal (her Aunt Mary, Dowager Countess of Harewood), and her great-aunt, Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone (a granddaughter of Queen Victoria and wife to Queen Mary's brother).
Princess Alice of Athlone had the Royal Family orders of Queen Victoria (her grandmother), King Edward VII (her uncle), King George V (her first cousin and brother-in-law), King George VI (her nephew), and Queen Elizabeth II (her great-niece).

I was watching C&C during the Coronation particularly in those occasions when they were getting up and/or down from the various seating, kneeling parts. Being so careful to not trip over small footstools, etc.
Especially after having a heavy crown on their heads.
Seeing Camilla, getting up from the red chair, having to step down a short step, as she reached briefly over toward the man on her right in case she needed a bit of help.
And Charles then walking out at the end of the service, with heavy crown on his head, heavy robes, carrying the orb in one hand and sceptre in the other - that is no mean feat for anyone, much less someone in their mid 70s. Especially with 2000 people watching in person and millions watching (or who will watch) on video.
I was watching BBC coverage and was wondering how ever the pair were going to climb into that golden coach. Video had already shown that the height of the floor of the coach appeared to be comparable to the middle of the chests of the soldiers walking beside it. Probably cameras were not allowed to photograph them climbing into the coach. Again, not an easy thing to do in your 70s, particularly with robes, crowns, etc.
After the ceremony, BBC interviewed one of the two women who were Camilla's attendants. (The other attendant was Camilla's sister.) The woman interviewed mentioned something about all the practicing that was done, part of it, climbing into the coach.

Factor in that they were exhausted by the time the cameras started rolling. Its not like they sprung out of bed an hour before showtime. Plus all the peripheral coronation engagements in the days leading up to the event. Plus having to put up with Harry's 24/7 ridiculously selfish nonsense.
The whole affair was fantastic!

Facts are negotiable depending on if they suit, everything is a grand conspiracy by other powers and they are blameless. Their opinions are facts, other opinions are lies etc etc As you said Trumpian. They have a lot in common.

For all Charles' talk about wanting to modernize the monarchy, he still takes mental note of who bows/curtsys to him. He says nothing if he doesn't receive a bow or curtsy, but he remembers and will avoid meeting the offender again in future. He also got quite irritated if non-family members addressed him as "Charles" or even as "Prince Charles". He was a stickler for the "Your Royal Highness" and "Sir" thing. That won't change now that he's King and "His Majesty".
His brother Andrew is the same way as is their fossilized cousin, the Duke of Kent, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Anne, Edward, Sophie and the rest of the lot really don't give a damn if they are bowed or curtsied to or how they are addressed. Anne used to be like her brother, but at some point let the formality go. If she's in a mood and you address her as "Anne", she might pretend you don't exist, but if you address her as "Princess Anne", that's sufficiently formal enough for her.

[quote] Yes, she was there with her husband, the current Earl Mountbatten. They were seated in one of the back rows of the "family" section. I think they were the only members of the Mountbatten family invited.
Lady Pamela Hicks, first cousin to Prince Philip and a bridesmaid at Philip and Lilibet's wedding received a phone call from a secretary in Charles' office explaining that due to limited seating in the Abbey, she would not be receiving an invitation to the Coronation. Lady Pamela's daughter assured the media that "my mother was NOT offended and understood".

by Anonymous | reply 320 | May 14, 2023 12:24 AM |
I tend to agree with R299 -- that, although Harry made money on the book, they are unlikely to have any more serious moneymaking enterprises in the future. They've shot their wad, unless Harry can produce more scandal from the past. And the public's perception of them is very negative, so their options are fewer. And they do keep spending. My guess is that, five years from now, they will be in a panic without serious income. What fascinates me about their lawsuits against the newspapers is that the newspapers figured this out decades ago: each lawsuit increases the newspaper's circulation and thus its income. The British press doesn't really care about lawsuits. Suing them is a fool's errand. William was wise to quietly settle.

r339 I think thats probably just more reflective of the reality that in the UK women from very higher social class or wealthier backgrounds are more likely to learn the piano and indeed any musical instrument. Princess Margaret used to play the piano as I think the Duchess of Kent does also. I just felt it was a nice touch, to a beautifully done Eurovision by Liverpool, by Catherine to show UK solidarity with Ukraine especially as it was only because of Putins war they didnt host it. Having the wife of the heir to the British throne really does send a message that the BRitish state and establishment backs Ukraine in every way.

r387 You do realise how many non scousers travelled into Liverpool for Eurovision? The tickets for the show itself and surrounding venues were not reserved for locals. William and Kate got an excellent reception when they opened the Royal Liverpool hospital at the beginning of the year. Booing is nearly always a tiny minority nagnified by the clickbait economy in parts of the media and internet. Would a small number of Trump supporters turning up boo Joe Biden in say New York amount to a rejection of Biden by New York? Of course not. Ascribing disproportionate influence to a loud minority is both foolish and a temptation too many on all sides of arguments give in to. I for one never hyped the idea of Harry getting booed at the Coronation or Meghan if they'd both gone because in reality most people who dislike them would ignore or engage in silence. Booing only a loud unrepresentative minority take part in.

Oh look, Harry and Meghan arranged a car chase n New York, just in time for his court hearing to try to get the UK taxpayers to pay for his security ("to protect his family") as a non-working Royal.
One wonders who arranged the 'terrifying' incident and how much that headline cost them.

R395 - you have posted that exact same comment on three different British Royal Family threads?
Who is paying YOU? How much did it cost YOUR pay master?

"Youi tell us. Just pull the answer out of your ass like all you Klan Grannies do."
He's claiming a "two-hour high-speed chase" in Manhattan, and I thought Manhattan was all stop-and-go and it's physically impossible to get anywhere at high speed for ten minutes. Wouldn't two hours of anyone having a high-speed chase there would make international headlines, because it'd involve breaking 200 million traffic laws and attract every damn cop in a car on the whole island?
So yeah, I'm calling bullshit.

I'm gonna make "Coronation Baked Eggs" for lunch. No fiddling with crust, but gonna make baked eggs with spinach, lima beans (since I can't get broad beans), tarragon, and cheddar cheese. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Poor Clittie Grannies will take it hard to hear that the 2 hour pursuit story is a lie.

The coronation baked eggs are tasty enough that I'll make them again, maybe even make a proper quiche some time!
But the recipe is the sort of thing one makes for a high-protein main dish at home, not the sort of thing one serves to guests.

A Performative "car chase" - now that's a new one!
They're utter clowns.

R402 I'm just sick of hearing about them at this point. Just like the Kardashians. Wish they would put Kim in a room with whatever sister she's fighting with now for a fight to the death, with no one walking out.

So stop clicking on the royals threads if you're sick of them, R403!
It's not like they aren't clearly labeled.

I get you R403. We need a better level of gossip. It's quite sad.
