Tasteful Friends - try this AI on for size!

Its on realtor.com, and allows you to enter a description of your dream home and spits out an AI rendering, plus a bunch of properties that match. This was the output when I entered the following;

Victorian, ornate, fretwork, turrets, stained glass, period

I'll be sure to post some matching properties. What an amazing tool

Very interesting OP. Someone should do The Datalounge house!

by Anonymousreply 1May 5, 2023 10:03 AM

Funnily enough the top pick from the AI output was a house I posted here previously as my dream home

Here’s the link, lazy whores.

Thanks R3. Everybody can give it a shot and post the outcome on here now!

I asked for a small house and it keeps giving me multi-million dollar mansions.

by Anonymousreply 5May 5, 2023 10:26 AM

It didn't do very well with my "old rambling farmhouse with nooks and plank floors." It was more successful with my 1930s Craftsman quest. Here's a real-life house it thinks that I should buy -- I admit, I love it!

Maybe I'll try "gothic pile overlooking the sea" next.

why not post a link to the tool. I'm stupid and can't find this tool on realtor.com

by Anonymousreply 7May 5, 2023 10:34 AM

Hmmm, "gothic, seaside" returned results in LA and Santa Fe. Somebody needs to tweak the code.

by Anonymousreply 8May 5, 2023 10:39 AM

R7, R3 posted the link

R6 that is a lovely house indeed. The AI only responds to descriptors of the house itself and ignores location

by Anonymousreply 9May 5, 2023 10:42 AM

Thank you R9

by Anonymousreply 10May 5, 2023 10:44 AM

Your dreamhouse looks a but like Stephen King's house R2.

by Anonymousreply 11May 5, 2023 10:46 AM

*bit.

by Anonymousreply 12May 5, 2023 10:46 AM

I asked for an "American Palladian villa in the garden district of a southern city."

Did well enough. Looks like a book illustration.

This is a lot of fun. Thank you, OP!

I'm having trouble getting it to understand that I want what I call a "banker's house" - a classic pre-war colonial, large but clean-lined, brick or stone. There are thousands of houses exactly like this in the older, well-to-do suburbs of most big Eastern and Midwestern cities, but they keep giving me huge mansions with lots of elaborate details like widow's walks, colonnades and the like. The houses are very nice, but not what I tried to describe. And, once, they served up a McMansion, perhaps thinking that the war in question was the war in Ukraine.

I must not be good at Realtor-speak.

by Anonymousreply 14May 5, 2023 10:55 AM

It's not so smart. Tried three times and got nothing like what I asked for. Also says it's overloaded so maybe you're all on.

by Anonymousreply 15May 5, 2023 11:02 AM

This pass did not do so well. I wanted a bobo house so I prompted: "A luxurious contemporary house for wealthy hippies. Wood and stained glass. Greenhouses. Ponds."

This task was easier: converted lighthouse on rocky sea coast

I made this one for sessie - "garden shed. converted to 1 room house. in the cactus garden behind a large adobe mansion"

R5 If you want a small house put in something like cottage or tiny house

This is what I got as one of the suggested listings for cottage

R18 clearly managed to get it to produce something small too

feed it a lot of information until it says it's too much. then you can cut off some description until it takes it.

by Anonymousreply 20May 6, 2023 8:29 AM

Good tip R20. I think I may have lucked out first time by putting in just the right amount of info

by Anonymousreply 21May 6, 2023 8:44 AM

[quote][R18] clearly managed to get it to produce something small too

Yes, silly me. I should have thought to put in that I was looking for a converted garden shed. šŸ™„

by Anonymousreply 22May 6, 2023 10:05 AM

R22 - if you're too stupid to make AI serve you, it's going to kill you in a couple years.

by Anonymousreply 23May 6, 2023 11:37 AM

Fine by me. I envision a bleak future.

by Anonymousreply 24May 7, 2023 1:17 AM

R23 To be fair to R22, it does sometimes spit out some weird fuckery

For instance when I entered "cute little rose chintz cottage" it came back with "Some dreams aren’t for sharing. Try again, keeping it G-rated and avoiding names or trademarks"

I mean, WTF, chintz isnt a trademark and I cant think of anything more G rated. Yet when I put chintz in a different phrase it didnt freak the fuck out?
