"Fat Acceptance" Influencer's New Petition: Free Extra Seats for Girthy Bitches

Jaelynn Chaney, a self-described "Fat Acceptance and Body Positivity Advocate," writes her list of demands for the airlines.

- A free second (or third or fourth) seat for any customer-of-size who needs the space

- Sensitivity training for stews who might be tempted to roll their eyes at these water buffaloes

- Free airport wheelchairs (and strong ones, at that) to move Shamu from the curbside to the boarding gate

- A reformed culture that embraces the fact that many, many American travelers are enormous and won't fit in modern aircraft seats

Jaelynn's blog consists of travel tips for the full-figured youngster, including detailed guides on how to travel with your "straight-sized" (aka healthy-weight) friends. She's vocal on the subject of vastly overweight people being accepted at their current weight by doctors, romantic partners, and employers.

I'm a fat cunt myself, but this is just ri-goddamn-diculous.

LOL - a free extra seat?

She's lucky that fat people are not charged extra for extra weight which costs airlines money.

The entitlement is mindboggling.

by Anonymousreply 1April 18, 2023 9:08 PM

It's not ridiculous and the mockery you managed to slip into every line is some old timey shit. Even if you are overweight. And it even mocks trying to start thinking about solutions for some of these things.

America has 2x as many people who are 100lbs overweight as in 1990. But airline seats and theater seats are sometimes smaller than they were then.

It is important to have these discussions because people like you seem to blame it all on the super fat people and act as if providing accommodation for them is somehow an act of enabling.

I fit into my 27" airline seat. I don't want a 350lb person to be sold the ticket next to me. If they need two seats, or a discount on a second seat, I want the airline thinking about that.

by Anonymousreply 2April 18, 2023 9:12 PM

Didn't we just do this on another thread last week ?

by Anonymousreply 3April 18, 2023 9:13 PM

Can these fatties take responsibility for themselves for once? Put down the donuts already.

by Anonymousreply 4April 18, 2023 9:13 PM

[quote]Didn't we just do this on another thread last week ?

No, it just seems like we did it's always something with the fatties, especially if they're a sous chef on the lam.

[quote]It's not ridiculous and the mockery you managed to slip into every line is some old timey shit. Even if you are overweight. And it even mocks trying to start thinking about solutions for some of these things.

The solution is for fatty to put the fork down and buy an extra seat if they require two of them to accommodate their blubbage.

No other accommodations are necessary. If you are wider than 27 inches, you buy an extra seat. What more is necessary. It's certainly not anyone else's fault you're too wide for a standard airline seat, irrespective of whether more fatties exist today than in 1990.

by Anonymousreply 6April 18, 2023 9:18 PM

When everybody else gets skinny from Ozempic these fatties are going back to being the Fat Lady/Fat Man at the circus. Everyone will tell them “Take your meds!”

💰 I think all airlines should charge by the pound.

This will end in... cellulite.

R3, it needed an extra thread.

by Anonymousreply 15April 18, 2023 9:51 PM

The name "Jaelynn" automatically merits the death penalty.

by Anonymousreply 16April 18, 2023 9:56 PM

Jaelynn sounds like a Trans name. Ya know, like Jazz.

by Anonymousreply 17April 18, 2023 9:59 PM

...and we want bigger meals and more snacks whilst flying!

by Anonymousreply 18April 18, 2023 10:12 PM

Thats a petition I wont be signing, because it'll cost me and everyone else money to accomodate a condition that is under their control.

I dont begrudge helping to pay to accomodate disabilities outside the person's control, but she didnt get to that size by eating the same as the rest of us

by Anonymousreply 19April 18, 2023 10:51 PM

I will sign this petition only because on the DL its perfectly fine to fat shame, but nothing else. Suck it.

She's back! And she doesn't fit well in hotel hallways:

[quote]A plus-size influencer who previously demanded airlines comp larger passengers for extra seats is now asking hotels around the world to make a number of changes to better accommodate overweight guests — including by making the hallways wider.

Hotel hallways? .. People who are that fat can't get off their sofa and never leave their double-wide to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 25October 2, 2023 8:04 PM

It would make more sense for them to accommodate overly-tall people, since that's something that's out of their control.

by Anonymousreply 26October 2, 2023 8:23 PM

They charged me extra fees for my snack purse!

by Anonymousreply 27October 2, 2023 8:24 PM

by Anonymousreply 28October 2, 2023 8:30 PM

Just wait until they demand that portable ample-sized restrooms be wheeled down the aisles to them so they don't have to blubber-stagger to the sardine-can toilet closet.

by Anonymousreply 31October 2, 2023 9:12 PM

Of course, in a world of differing opinions, there's the "Hot Fat Guys" thread... because here in DL-land, if the fat guy was "hot," the skinny widdle DLer and/or hissing Eldergay would happily get squeezed out of a seat!

by Anonymousreply 32October 2, 2023 9:21 PM

^^^^preachy, preachy, preachy

The fat whore should just stop overeating.

by Anonymousreply 33October 2, 2023 9:29 PM

R32 There's fat and then there's obese.

While not my type, I checked out the "Hot Fat Guys" just out of curiosity, and for the most part, the ones posted looked overweight, but were not morbidly obese like the woman in OP's article. And some of them just looked like big guys who were filling out there frame, and others read "fit fat" for sure.

by Anonymousreply 34October 2, 2023 10:09 PM

I’m the OP of the divisive but busy HOT FAT GUYS thread.

I like a thick torso and a big ass, but I have a definite limit.

And I think fat acceptance is fucking farcical. Moreover, I do not want to pay extra for my seat on a plane to make up for the revenue lost by ceding more space to the morbidly obese.

by Anonymousreply 35October 2, 2023 10:55 PM

[quote]America has 2x as many people who are 100lbs overweight as in 1990. But airline seats and theater seats are sometimes smaller than they were then.

I agree with you that airlines are providing a product that many Americans don't want/can't comfortably use.

The only answer is going from 3X3 to 2X2 for planes (with bigger/wider seats), and that is just not economically feasible.

For those of you who are saying "buy a second seat", it does vary by airline, but they can make it difficult to buy a second seat. I've bought a 2nd seat (when first was full - and no, I am not Scrooge McDuck), and I got requests/nasty responses, when I did not want to give up my empty seat to a standby (paid or unpaid) passenger.

by Anonymousreply 39October 2, 2023 11:41 PM

Buying two seats seems fairly cheap when one considers that Fedex charges over $5200 to ship 400 lbs. same day from LA to NY.

by Anonymousreply 40October 2, 2023 11:57 PM

Put this beast in the cargo hold.

by Anonymousreply 41October 3, 2023 12:01 AM

Just assign them tickets on multifloor jumbo jets built specifically for accommodating all of each one of them. Okay, maybe one single floor-level would prove safer. Then have them all lean forward in unison so that the plane speeds faster to its destination knocking off about 90 minutes at least.

by Anonymousreply 42October 3, 2023 12:01 AM

R42 It would probably have to be one single floor, because people as obese as this cow would never fit in the typical Airbus stairway.

And you shouldn't have to! If I'd bought two seats and someone asked to use it, I'd tell them to pay double or fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 44October 3, 2023 12:21 AM

HOW ABOUT JUST MAKING THE SEATS NOMRAL SIZED AGAIN, LIKE THEY WERE FORTY YEARS AGO!!!!

by Anonymousreply 45October 3, 2023 12:31 AM

R45 Seats are almost exactly the same size that they were forty years ago.

The legroom has decreased, and seats are thinner than they used to be, but they're almost exactly as wide as in 1983. Narrowbody planes were 3x3 back then, and they're 3x3 today.

by Anonymousreply 46October 3, 2023 1:18 AM

Grotesque. And I guess those not on the morbidly obese spectrum can foot the bill for these "demands." On the plus side (no pun), she'll only be around for another decade or so of bellyaching (if she's lucky).

by Anonymousreply 47October 3, 2023 2:31 AM

6” girth or better gets a free seat. WOOF 😈

by Anonymousreply 48October 3, 2023 2:36 AM

Well isn't there a lot of space down there where they put the pets? Just have some snacks already set out and show them how the harness works, they'll be in good shape!

by Anonymousreply 49October 3, 2023 3:02 AM

Or she can buy her fat ass a first class seat and not convenience anyone else.

Problem solved!

by Anonymousreply 50October 3, 2023 3:12 AM

R50 But the heifer is broke! She keeps eating her nickels and dimes!

by Anonymousreply 51October 3, 2023 3:26 AM

Pretty much every hotel hallway I've ever been in a hippopotamus could waddle down comfortably or at least get itself through without undue effort. by Anonymousreply 56October 3, 2023 8:59 AM

Good luck thinking you'll get anything "free" from the airlines. I can see a time when planes are configured for a few extra larger seats outside of the 1st class section, but they will charge dearly for those seats since their current model is packing everyone in as tight as possible to make the most $$

I don't think pushing back on airlines & demanding better service is a bad thing - they treat people terribly & then can't understand why people act the way they do. But particularly in these post-COVID times when business travelers are traveling less, it's not realistic to expect them to do anything that further hurts their bottom line.

by Anonymousreply 57October 3, 2023 9:29 AM

The day will likely come for this young woman when she's in a life threatening health situation and she'll bemoan the fact that she spent her life gorging herself with food instead of pushing back from the table once she had eaten a proper amount of food.

[quote] The day will likely come for this young woman when she's in a life threatening health situation and she'll bemoan the fact that she spent her life gorging herself with food instead of pushing back from the table once she had eaten a proper amount of food.

I dare you to fall down a Fat Acceptance rabbit hole. These bitches (almost all fat white women, a few fat fat trans men, and a bunch of fat they’s)have a carefully constructed reality where there are absolutely no ill effects of being obese and that you’re a bigot for even thinking that.

by Anonymousreply 59October 16, 2023 1:06 PM

And won't you be pleased then, R58. Cackling, I'd reckon.

by Anonymousreply 60October 16, 2023 1:15 PM

Airlines don't care about passengers of any size, except in contemplating how many more they can cram in without crashing the plane (which I think they care about only because they'd have to replace the plane.) They will never care about anything else.

by Anonymousreply 61October 16, 2023 1:16 PM

R61 Welcome to the world of business, genius.

"Caring" doesn't pay. Selling seats on airplanes does.

by Anonymousreply 62October 16, 2023 1:18 PM

I'm still waiting on the airline's response.

I'm hoping it involves a garbage bag filled with airplane peanuts, wrapped in a gaudy bow, as a sensible bribe.

Five minutes into that, and the heifer will forget all about this silly petition.

by Anonymousreply 63October 16, 2023 1:19 PM

Yeah, I kinda knew that already, R62, but thanks for the masterclass. Haven't you got a Fortune 500 to run?

by Anonymousreply 64October 16, 2023 1:20 PM

I'm damn tired of the 10% trying to dictate what the 90% should do/say:

The Trump/MAGA folks

The Democrat establishment

Big businesses

The transgender

The morbidly obese

Why can't people just live their lives without having some jackass tell them what they should think, say, and do. 'm tired of their beliefs being shoved down my throat.

In this case, she is morbidly obese but expects me to carry her cross for her. I'm not doing that. Eat healthy and exercise. It is not hard.

by Anonymousreply 65October 16, 2023 1:45 PM

I usually keep my mouth shut on this topic because I don’t want to add to the fat shaming. Plus, to be honest, while I’m outwardly respectful, I have a deep seated prejudice against the obese. I feel bad about that but it’s kind of a visceral reaction of disgust.

But this Jaelynn and her/xir request for free seats is the last straw. If she pays $500 and gets two seats, I expect two seats for paying the same fare. It’s simple fairness. She wants to be more comfortable up in the air? So do I.

I think about this a lot because there’s a similar problem on the subways and buses. No, not about the fares. But about fat passengers occupying two seats while the rest of us have to stand for forty minutes or longer.

by Anonymousreply 66October 16, 2023 2:06 PM

I agree and get it, but I don't get it. The world is full of inconveniences caused by the peculiarities of other people. I guess on DL fat people are a safe proxy for all the things you can't say about all the people you hate and the reasons why (I'm thinking race, in particular.) The level of vitriol is weird even for here.

by Anonymousreply 67October 16, 2023 2:10 PM

Many obese people are not just slobs. Obese people are not simply persons who have gotten fat or overweight. They may have become obese because of catastrophic problems in their lives -- trauma, mental health issues, or physical illness. We should respect their dignity as individuals and human beings.

Airlines gouge passengers and cram us all into their sardine cans. The airlines can come up with a solution to this problem in a sympathetic way. Discount a second seat to obese people would probably be the best solution. To satisfy the objections of other customers, obese wouldn't be getting anything for free. A discounted second seat would demonstrate the airlines' empathy. And it would be good for business.

by Anonymousreply 68October 16, 2023 2:27 PM

Empathy might be a stretch for DL.

How about just acknowledging reality?

It makes sense for the obese person and it makes even more sense for the person/people sitting next to them. It's not a pleasant experience, being jammed up against someone you don't know for hours on end.

I know, I know, put down the fork, exercise but realistically, the obese of the world have failed to take DL's sage advice and even if they did, probably won't be acceptable to DL in time for the flight.

by Anonymousreply 69October 16, 2023 2:31 PM

[quote] Many obese people are not just slobs. Obese people are not simply persons who have gotten fat or overweight. They may have become obese because of catastrophic problems in their lives -- trauma, mental health issues, or physical illness. We should respect their dignity as individuals and human beings.

I’m all for respecting people and not making them feel lesser. But the problem with a lot of these Fat Acceptance people is that basic respect and decency isn’t enough. They will be happy to tell you all of the ways they are oppressed by what to the rest of us seem like minor inconveniences. And that if you don’t want to sleep with them, you’re being a bigot.

[quote] It makes sense for the obese person and it makes even more sense for the person/people sitting next to them. It's not a pleasant experience, being jammed up against someone you don't know for hours on end.

No one is arguing that. Where I have an issue is that they want to be accommodated for their choices. If they buy one airplane seat and get—as Jaelynn demands—three seats for free because that’s what their “comfort” requires, why do I have to pay the same for a single seat? Shouldn’t mine be a third of the price?

by Anonymousreply 70October 16, 2023 2:36 PM

[quote]Jaelynn Chaney

Well, of course, her name is "Jaelynn" - what else would it be.

Only an utterly entitled, blue ribbon for breathing, coddled idiot would think that they deserve something that the rest of us would pay for.

by Anonymousreply 71October 16, 2023 2:37 PM

I guess it depends on the basis for the decision. Look, first of all, this is never going to happen. We all know that. But pretend an airline did it. The question becomes is it for the comfort of the obese passenger or the comfort of other passengers? If it's a decision for the other passenger then it makes sense the price cut is to achieve that outcome. Why do they create spaces on transit for wheelchairs where they do? Or seats held for old people? Or grab bars in toilets? Me, me, me... what about me? A world of jealous toddlers. Christ.

by Anonymousreply 72October 16, 2023 2:39 PM

Everyone uses a wheelchair to board ahead of everyone else, so they can stake out the best seats on the plane. They scatter their belongings on the seats next to them as well, saving an entire row for their fat family boarding at the end of the last group.

And when the plane lands at its destination, these dopey fucks stand up and WALK OFF THE PLANE. The wheelchair's a sham! Either that, or they were healed of their ailments in the sky!
