I heard he had a very close gay best friend named Corey Spears amongst other gay friends. Obviously this isn't proof that he's gay or bi, I've only been to LA once, but there were tons of gay guys and I'm sure there are even more in the acting community. The second part was a blind item from an straight male acquaintance who works on the film crew side of things on movies and tv shows. From the description, I guessed Dean Cain, another actor who played Superman. The reason is likely Man of Steel producer Christopher Nolan who in 2009 held more power by a director at a studio than any other filmmaker since Steven Spielberg at Universal in the 80s. If Cavill was Nolan’s selection, no one at Warner Bros. was going to fight him.

Matt Bomer failed to get the part in Brett Ratner’s Superman Flyby largely due to that filmmakers’ falling out of favor at Warner due to delays and failure to secure a known actor which that studio had insisted on (Josh Hartnett, Paul Walker, Brendan Fraser). Blevins never got fired. Filming wrapped for B v S. Both Blevins and HC went back to Utah to live under one roof with the wife, as they did for years. HC trained in Utah at Gym Jones, while living with Blevins.

HC and the head writer Beau DeMayo were gay "buds". On Beau's IG, he proudly posted that he consulted with the actors on the show. The actors -- actor was HC. Beau thought that HC should be the centerpoint of the show, since he was the Witcher.

Of course, HC would naturely agree. Both were upset about the direction of the show -- that the women, aka Yennifer was getting a lot of screen time.

You need to read the recent exposé on HBO’s The Idol. The Weeknd was basically able to get an entire finished show reshot, doubling the cost. The star IS the show. Cavill was unhappy with Season 2 and wanted out. (This would be in line with his Stratton behavior of walking away when he doesn’t get his way). They were able to renegotiate a massive raise for him making him IIRC the highest paid television actor to lock him into season three but he did not want to continue doing the show after Season 3.

#2 I agree that Beau DeMayo’s dismissal was probably a huge dealbreaker for him, I assume they were intimate given Cavill likes black men. DeMayo was probably fired for sleeping with him if you ask me.

Also regarding Shazam I doubt there was a contract. HC contract from MOS predated the establishment of a DC extended universe and was a four picture deal which guaranteed an absolutely massive payday for the fourth picture, probably between $15-20 million plus backend. That picture, Justice League Part II, was cancelled. Unless the contract had been renegotiated to include cameos, I don’t think he was beholden to WB to appear in anything and cameos would have to be negotiated on an as per basis. WB under Emmerich made it clear they did not want to do any Superman films and would only offer him cameos which he was right to refuse.

One more thing about Cavill’s Superman casting

Cavill was cast because of Christopher Nolan. Christopher Nolan came to Warner Bros. with the premise for Man of Steel. The idea was fleshed out into a script by David Goyer but it was Nolan’s idea.

Christopher Nolan’s films are technically brilliant, often deal with extraordinarily complex narrative structures, frequently showcase the hard sciences, have almost no sex and often feature the same actors over and over again. This is high-functioning ASD writ in neon lights.

When Man of Steel came out, there was an immediate recognition among ASD individuals that this was a metaphor for ASD. Google it.

Nolan cast Cavill because he either recognized he had ASD or because the way Cavill interpreted the character came the closest to Nolan’s vision for an ASD Superman. I like to think it’s both.

Additionally, for a character that has been portrayed by dozens of actors over a century, Cavill is the only actor who has CORRECTLY portrayed Sherlock Holmes with ASD traits. The Sherlock Holmes character has been identified as ASD signified forever, but no actor has portrayed him as ASD instead relying on pompousness or bluster. Cavill is the only actor who played him correctly.

He approached Synder to direct and he originally turned it down as he could not see Superman in the same tone as the Dark Knight Universe Nolan had created. Snyder eventually took the job as a director because he felt he had a good grip on the vision of Superman as a hero. Nolan had little to do with both Batman v Superman and Justice League, he served as executive producer.
