I don't know any of these people.

Michael Voltaggio should have represented the US.

He's the best Top Chef winner from this country, and realistically, the only deserving one.

by Anonymousreply 2March 9, 2023 3:13 AM

Anyone watching on the East Coast?

by Anonymousreply 3March 10, 2023 1:05 AM

Does Canada have a contestant?

by Anonymousreply 4March 10, 2023 2:19 AM

Is that horrible racist going to pollute this thread like he used to? I figured with an international cast his head would explode.

by Anonymousreply 5March 11, 2023 6:36 AM

The only thing I remember about Sarah from her season is that she made pancakes from a boxed mix or some such thing.

by Anonymousreply 6March 11, 2023 6:38 AM

Samuel was cute. I'm sure he's not pleased being THE French chef who got eliminated first.

by Anonymousreply 7March 12, 2023 3:50 AM

R4: Yes, there's a Canadian contestant. He's rather attractive in an Edwardian lumberjack kinda way (if Edwardian lumberjacks had sleeve tattoos). That said, I don't remember what he prepared, although he may have been glancingly edited for time.

by Anonymousreply 8March 13, 2023 7:57 PM

Dawn is not an all star. She seems like a lovely person but she still has time management issues and her dishes are a hit or a big misfire.

by Anonymousreply 9March 17, 2023 1:12 AM

Chef Ali is very hot!

by Anonymousreply 10March 17, 2023 1:34 AM

Chef Mae is my favorite.

by Anonymousreply 11March 17, 2023 1:41 AM

Loved Episode One. Tom is dreamy.

by Anonymousreply 12March 17, 2023 2:40 AM

Who went home?

by Anonymousreply 13March 17, 2023 5:51 AM

R13, Dawn.

by Anonymousreply 14March 17, 2023 9:30 AM

Even though my TC: WAS thread was started before OP's, this one seems to be where people are posting, so I defer to yours, OP!

I, too, really like Mae. Also Gabri.

Also, "Edwardian lumberjack" is the PERFECT descriptor for Dale, R8.

It usually takes a few episodes before I warm up to the chefs but this is a really unique, charismatic bunch and I love them already.

by Anonymousreply 16March 17, 2023 12:05 PM

I'm also liking the international feel of this group of chefs

by Anonymousreply 17March 18, 2023 4:42 AM

Everything's Better When It Sits on a Ritz! (For once, I didn't mind the blatant product placement.) I was hoping someone would make a Mock Apple Pie amuse-bouche, but, alas.

by Anonymousreply 18March 18, 2023 4:56 PM

Next challenge: make a Michelin-star worthy dish using Spam and Velveeta.

by Anonymousreply 19March 19, 2023 2:26 PM

R18, I was thinking the same thing! I've never had the Mock Apple Pie and have always wondered what it tastes like. From what I understand, I think it's the spices used in a regular apple pie that are the key.

by Anonymousreply 20March 20, 2023 12:46 PM

r18, I was waiting for the mock shrimp cocktail: ritz cracker, a small ring of sliced onion, fill the ring with ketchup. My mother made these all the time for her bridge club. Still give me nightmares.

by Anonymousreply 21March 20, 2023 7:17 PM

Dawn. Still a fuck op.

by Anonymousreply 22March 21, 2023 4:23 PM

Fuck me, Ali. Put it in me. Now.

by Anonymousreply 23March 21, 2023 4:24 PM

Sad news...Buddha's restaurant burned down.

by Anonymousreply 24March 23, 2023 3:33 AM

Since both teams were in the bottom for the same reason and the judges actually liked both dishes I was hoping no one would go home. Boo!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 25March 24, 2023 2:15 AM

R25, it’s a competition, Mary!

by Anonymousreply 26March 24, 2023 3:56 AM

Is Ali a Muslim? If so, not a friend of the gays.

by Anonymousreply 27March 24, 2023 4:26 AM

Fuck me, Ali. Smash my hole and fill me with your hot man seed.

by Anonymousreply 28March 24, 2023 12:14 PM

I felt bad for the guy that lost the challenge because he didn't want to do that dish in the first place. His partner kind of rolled over him and forced them to do it.

by Anonymousreply 29March 24, 2023 3:29 PM

Of course Gail Simmons hosted the pub crawl. Padma loves to make her do the low-brow fat ass chores.

by Anonymousreply 30March 24, 2023 3:39 PM

Actually, once he decided to go with it, he then ignored everything Mae said and just said, “If we make a good one, it’ll be fine.” I knew they were doomed. He had a total lack of ambition and that’s not how you win Top Chef. If they just wanted a Scotch Egg, they’d go buy one.

by Anonymousreply 31March 24, 2023 10:43 PM

my two main crushes (Tom and Ali) are still alive but Dale was also cute so that's kinda sad

by Anonymousreply 32March 25, 2023 5:21 AM

R29, I felt bad for Mae, not Dale -- Mae was the one who wanted to do something more exciting with their "Scotch egg" assignment, but Dale was the one who did the steamrolling in terms of concept. I thought he actually came off pretty poorly in this episode. R31 is right -- what's the point of being on Top Chef just making a really good Scotch egg? It's not a Great British Bake-off technical challenge.

Did anyone watch LCK yet? How did Mae do?

by Anonymousreply 33March 25, 2023 11:31 AM

They both got through, Dawn went home.

by Anonymousreply 34March 27, 2023 7:12 PM

Did she leave off yet another ingredient?

by Anonymousreply 35March 27, 2023 7:42 PM

Let me guess, Dawn left herself one and a half minutes to cook and plate Two Minute Noodles so ran out of time?

by Anonymousreply 36March 27, 2023 8:27 PM

She made congee that wasn’t congee.

by Anonymousreply 37March 27, 2023 8:43 PM

In LCK they had to make Welsh Rarebit and Dawn made something with kimchi and Tom and Gail were like, “Dawn, take your kimchi and go.”

by Anonymousreply 38March 28, 2023 1:13 AM

I like Dawn, she was a runner-up in her original season so she can obviously cook. But here, she seemed off from the very beginning. I don’t know what was going on with her, but she was a mess this season. I wish her well.

by Anonymousreply 39March 28, 2023 1:58 AM

She was trying to hold it together and not appear her usual hot mess of not knowing what to cook and not fucking up time wise. You could see it in her face, she was there to get some attention for her new restaurant and to show her new found ‘stability’.

by Anonymousreply 40March 28, 2023 5:53 AM

I wonder if Dawn was a consolation contestant this season. I read/saw an article where Kristen Kish turned it down. She said she never wanted to be a TC contestant or winner. However, she does seem happy to judge occasionally. She's doing a travel food show on NatGeo called Restaurants of the World or something like that.

They could have brought back the bald-headed German guy from her season or the Seattle season (can't remember exactly). He was the guy who kept hitting on Kristin even though she's a lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 41March 28, 2023 12:17 PM

Kristen (or Melissa, natch) would have been fun to see again, but I totally understand why she'd decline. She did her time, she won, and she's had a successful career since... so, why go through it again? Why would any previous winner bother?

My guess is that the international TC winners competing this season may be doing so as a way to build broader exposure for themselves, especially in the U.S., as a precursor to opening a stateside (or elsewhere outside their home nation) restaurant.

by Anonymousreply 42March 28, 2023 12:44 PM

You guys can thirst over Ali all you want. I prefer Charbel.

by Anonymousreply 43March 29, 2023 1:14 AM

I hope May comes back to the competition, I think having to work with Dale just fucked her. She had a lot of ideas and he just turned them down.

Dawn is the horrible mess she's always been.

by Anonymousreply 44March 29, 2023 2:04 AM

Did anyone watch last night's episode?

by Anonymousreply 45March 31, 2023 2:15 PM

Yes. I'm sad.

by Anonymousreply 46March 31, 2023 8:38 PM

Sad because the right person went home? lol.

by Anonymousreply 47April 1, 2023 4:18 AM

I liked Luciana. But I'm glad Gabri got to stay though.

by Anonymousreply 48April 1, 2023 4:32 AM

The next to be PYKAG'ed are probably Victoire, polish lady and Tom.

by Anonymousreply 49April 1, 2023 5:27 AM

I actually enjoyed this show for years. But I've never been able to stomach Padma Lakshmi. Even more, I REALLY can't stand fellow West Virginia native Katie Lee, who "presented" the show for a season before her.

They don't have to be culinary masters in their position as "presenter". They just have to be thin & physically attractive. And they are. But I still cringe everytime I see either one of them.

by Anonymousreply 50April 1, 2023 5:38 AM

I like the Polish potato lady.

by Anonymousreply 51April 1, 2023 5:47 AM

Is Gabri the only gay guy?

He's cute but I don't think he's going to be in the competition for much longer.

by Anonymousreply 52April 1, 2023 7:22 AM

R52 I get pings from Tom and Charbel.

by Anonymousreply 53April 1, 2023 7:35 AM

R52, I had a hard time telling if Chef Samuel (the first chef eliminated) is gay or just French?

by Anonymousreply 54April 1, 2023 7:37 AM

Yeah, Tom seems a bit enchanted by Gabri. But for some reason he reminds me of that old internet meme: "Gay or European." Obviously he can be both. But I also remember that German or Austrian contestant who seemed to lust after one of the lesbian chefs in his season. It seemed like a closet case thing, so if Tom is gay, he and Gabri would make a cute looking couple.

Speaking of, Samuel Albert (first eliminated chef) has an instagram showing a wedding photo and his I think now pregnant wife. So...probably not gay?

r53, I got the same sort of idea about Charbel but without a spouse or S.O. identified as such in his social media I don't know what to think.

I mean, he willingly moved back to the middle east after having lived in the U.S. I wouldn't do that if I were gay, but who knows?

Gee, I asked th

by Anonymousreply 55April 1, 2023 8:13 AM

Begonia reminds me so much of *someone* but I can't place whom -- maybe Janet McTeer? A really young Penny Marshall?

by Anonymousreply 56April 1, 2023 12:21 PM

I want to see a coupling of Ali and Charbel. Interesting that Charbel used to be a hairdresser!

by Anonymousreply 57April 1, 2023 12:47 PM

I think Tom is just European and not gay. He has that attractive straight guy arrogance.

by Anonymousreply 58April 1, 2023 12:47 PM

I am glad Luciana is gone. I couldn't stand looking at her face...and those gums!

by Anonymousreply 59April 1, 2023 12:59 PM

I want to see Ali shirtless.

by Anonymousreply 60April 1, 2023 2:50 PM

I guess I'm in the minority who cannot stand 'Buddha'. Arrogant AF.

by Anonymousreply 61April 1, 2023 4:38 PM

I seemed like that gay guest judge in the quickfire was voting for Ali's "cookies" rather than his actual cookies, if you get my drift.

I'd vote for Ali's lats.

by Anonymousreply 62April 1, 2023 6:21 PM

They need to do a speedo challenge but only as a tie breaker between Ali and Tom. At judge's table. Pose down.

by Anonymousreply 63April 1, 2023 6:23 PM

Ali is shirtless on his Instagram.

by Anonymousreply 64April 1, 2023 6:26 PM

I just checked out his Insta.

Is it me, or does he seem a bit gay at the end of this clip?

Muslims don't kiss and tell, R67.

by Anonymousreply 68April 1, 2023 10:41 PM

They don't really have that luxury, R68

How come horsey Luciana has been living in London for the past 19 years and her english is still bad? I never lived abroad and can speak and write much better tahn her.

Buddha using his TC money for his pug's eye surgery = ♥

by Anonymousreply 69April 3, 2023 1:09 AM

Sorry but I love Buddha. He's so calm and thoughtful. Seems very genuine.

by Anonymousreply 70April 3, 2023 1:15 AM

Charbel and Ali were probably fucking each other sense at that Kimpton they put the chefs up in.

by Anonymousreply 71April 3, 2023 2:33 AM

Why "sorry", R70? I was saying the same thing. I adore Buddha and now that I've learned that he used the top chef cash to save his pug's eyesight, I love him even more.

by Anonymousreply 72April 3, 2023 4:23 AM

R72. Sorry (again). I was responding to R61 who thinks Buddha is arrogant. I think we posted at the same time because I didn't see your post. Anyway, MORE LOVE FOR BUDDHA!!!!

by Anonymousreply 73April 3, 2023 2:27 PM

I want the finalists to be the hot guys.

by Anonymousreply 74April 3, 2023 2:40 PM

That leaves out Buddha, R74.

He's fat and ugly.

by Anonymousreply 75April 3, 2023 3:05 PM

Oh, sorry, R73! I thought you were responding to me. Anyway, more love for Buddha.

I don't see him as arrogant at all; just supremely confident and experienced. And he was absolutely right regarding the powdered sugar on the apple pie and Luciana's awful mashed potatoes

by Anonymousreply 76April 3, 2023 7:05 PM

No comments from the current episode? I really want that bitch from Canada to get cut.

by Anonymousreply 77April 8, 2023 12:20 AM

If Gabriel had been sent home, I would've been very upset.

by Anonymousreply 78April 8, 2023 1:10 AM

"Michael Voltaggio should have represented the US.

He's the best Top Chef winner from this country, and realistically, the only deserving one."

The other Voltaggio returned for an All Stars season, and I think Michael may have been a guest judge a couple of times.

At some point, there's really no reason for these people to come back because this is the only reality series where winning can really boost your career.

Even placing well helps.

Of course, a couple of the male chefs have gotten into some legal troubles. There was one asshole who got #metoo'd like Mario Batali. Then there was that creep from the Top Chef dessert series who was arrested for child porn and/or molestation. He was the one who always cried during the confessionals because he missed his son so much. Unfortunately, he was abusing his son.

I was tyring to find the name for the first guy, and found out yet another Top Chef winner was fired for harassment. It was Gabe Erales who won season 18.

The first one was Mike Isabella who I always thought was an asshole.

Then I found Ming Tsai joked that he roofied a female WHO WAS INTERVIEWING HIM AT THE TIME.

Damn, chefs are fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 79April 8, 2023 6:19 AM

Be Gone is gone

by Anonymousreply 80April 8, 2023 6:30 AM

Tom is still hot. And I love his accent.

by Anonymousreply 81April 8, 2023 7:14 AM
I really want that bitch from Canada to get cut.

I like Nicole, or at least I don't mind her. I have no clue what she was like on her season of Top Chef though.

by Anonymousreply 82April 8, 2023 7:20 AM

Agreed R81, Tom has a certain rakish appeal for me. It looks like his dessert was shockingly bad but because he had immunity they barely went there and edited around it to focus on the other dishes.

by Anonymousreply 83April 8, 2023 8:39 AM

If Ali had gone to LCK, he could’ve done “creamy” and just jizzed on a plate.

by Anonymousreply 84April 8, 2023 9:17 AM

He could also have done “chewy” and presented his nips for Tom to chew on.

by Anonymousreply 85April 8, 2023 9:41 AM

Imagine if he’d done “creamy” and they’re like, “10 seconds…!”

by Anonymousreply 86April 8, 2023 9:49 AM

I'm a little surprised that the producers aren't vetoing nuts due to Victoire's allergy. Especially after last week's allergic reaction.

That said, I'm also a little surprised that someone with a nut allergy would sign on for a competition series where competitors may use nuts as an ingredient.

by Anonymousreply 87April 8, 2023 11:51 AM

It seemed like a dick move for Buddha to use walnuts in his dish knowing she was very allergic. It didn't help him anyway.

German Tom is definitely hot.

by Anonymousreply 88April 8, 2023 1:11 PM

I can't believe Buddha is married to a real woman.

by Anonymousreply 89April 8, 2023 3:28 PM

In Last Chance Kitchen, Begoña said that she tasted everyone's dishes and that she thought hers was the worst. She agreed with the judges' decision and said she was disappointed in herself.

She also cooked Tom's favorite thing and will be cooking against Dale next week to return to the competition.

by Anonymousreply 90April 8, 2023 5:02 PM

Luciana is gone for good, thank gawd

by Anonymousreply 91April 8, 2023 5:24 PM

R89, does he come across as gay, ya think? I myself don't get that vibe off him.

by Anonymousreply 92April 8, 2023 5:36 PM

R92, no, not gay vibe, but incel vibe.

by Anonymousreply 93April 8, 2023 6:57 PM

Tom is hot, but according to him, his older brother is even hotter.

by Anonymousreply 94April 8, 2023 11:14 PM

I wonder if production was aware of the nut allergy. A chef dying from an allergic reaction during a competition would be a PR nightmare.

by Anonymousreply 95April 8, 2023 11:26 PM

Tom C. wasn't having it with Buddha's defense of his salmon thing.

by Anonymousreply 96April 8, 2023 11:47 PM

I knew the salmon was bad when no one said a positive word about it, all the other dishes got at least a faint compliment.

I think one of the middle eastern guys is going to win.

I like Tom, Buddha and Sara.

by Anonymousreply 97April 9, 2023 12:48 AM
I like Tom, Buddha and Sara.

I don't really remember like Sara too much on her original season, but I'm warming up to her with her no-bullshit approach to cooking.

by Anonymousreply 98April 9, 2023 6:03 AM

I make you traditional Polish dish, just like my mother, my grandmother, and everyone else in Poland. With potatoes!

by Anonymousreply 99April 9, 2023 6:43 AM

R99, ha ha. That's all she knows how to make. My prediction is that she's the next to go.

by Anonymousreply 100April 9, 2023 6:48 AM

Begona fell into the trap of "this is what I do with my friends on the holiday" and forgot "I'm in a Top Chef cooking competition."

by Anonymousreply 101April 9, 2023 12:19 PM

Begone-ah will probably win Last Chance Kitchen

I like Polish Potato Lady but yeah. Time's up for her.

by Anonymousreply 102April 9, 2023 11:46 PM

How are these chefs feeding all of these people on shared £ 200 budgets shopping at London Whole Foods?

by Anonymousreply 103April 14, 2023 4:28 PM

Some of the chefs have apparently never been on a picnic before. Nobody wants to spend time assembling something in order to get the perfect bite!

by Anonymousreply 104April 14, 2023 6:17 PM

I'm guessing sweet Potato Lady loses LCK. I like Gabri but his dish was way too complicated for a picnic. Glad Dale is back. Good episode and excellent season so far.

by Anonymousreply 105April 14, 2023 6:58 PM

I hope hottie Tom makes it through.

by Anonymousreply 106April 15, 2023 7:38 AM

Yes, R105, this is a great season. Top Chef still holds up after all these uears and seasons.

I lost all the love for Tom when he hogged the budget. Why did the other members of his team allow him to do that? He literally took Potato Lady's protein from her hands saying she couldn't take it because of the budget. The worst part was to hog all the budget and make a crap dish out of the expensive ingredients. Idiot. And he won the sandwich-off. I am pissed.

by Anonymousreply 107April 15, 2023 6:05 PM

^ I only want him to stick around for the eye candy.

by Anonymousreply 108April 15, 2023 8:02 PM

This season has revamped the show for me.

I feel like they've really come up with unique challenges that are also doable. I hate challenges that are so hard you don't get to see the actual talent of the chefs (Project Runway does this all the time!). I don't want to watch chef's struggle because of time or budget. I want to watch them be amazing. I want to see the very best being the very best.

I'm fully aware others, for the sake of good TV, want that struggle! And that's totally valid. I think this season has straddled that line very effectively.

by Anonymousreply 109April 15, 2023 8:44 PM

They still have those undoable challenges, R109. The afternoon tea towers was one of them.

I remember from in of the previous seasons where the chefs had to use an ice pick to carve the food out of huge ice blocks. Ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 110April 16, 2023 12:02 AM

I felt terrible for Begonia in that afternoon tea challenge. Her confidence was clearly shaken after just being eliminated and she was making rookie mistakes.

by Anonymousreply 111April 16, 2023 12:57 AM

I believe she made cookie mistakes R111.

by Anonymousreply 112April 16, 2023 3:06 AM
I lost all the love for Tom when he hogged the budget.

See also: his temper tantrum in the kitchen a while later. In this episode, he behaved like a stereotypical self-absorbed "artiste" chef, who'd be a terror to staff and underlings if he believed any element of his "vision" was being neglected.

Everyone else left in the competition seems pretty happy and easygoing, which only made his behaviour/attitude stand out (in a bad way) even more for me. He's the only contestant I'm rooting *against* (sorry, Tom fans!).

by Anonymousreply 113April 16, 2023 1:17 PM

I don’t know how they were expected to do 7 tea towers in 60 mins.

In reality, that’s probably the work of 6 people or more.

by Anonymousreply 114April 16, 2023 10:23 PM

Sorry, R113. Tom's temper makes him even hotter.

by Anonymousreply 115April 19, 2023 3:21 AM

R115 I still think he’s hot, but he’s acting like a baby right now. The tantrums and the pouting translated into a bad dish. If he wants to stay he has to get his act together.

by Anonymousreply 116April 19, 2023 4:06 AM

Dale really messed up and deserved to go home. Another interesting challenge and the chefs excelled. Tom didn't really belong in the bottom. The judges were nitpicking.

by Anonymousreply 117April 21, 2023 11:55 AM

Tom should never be on the bottom. I'm sure that he's a total top.

by Anonymousreply 118April 24, 2023 2:40 AM

R111, I didn't like seeing Begonia rattled either. I wish they would give these chefs like 10 more minutes of time. I'd also rather see the chefs putting out food at the top of their game. Watching them frantic and struggling is not as fun.

by Anonymousreply 119April 24, 2023 2:48 AM

Time is money.

by Anonymousreply 120April 24, 2023 5:40 AM

Charbel is the oldest looking 25-year-old I've ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 121April 28, 2023 1:57 PM

It was shocking when he said his age. He looks at least 10 years older.

by Anonymousreply 122April 28, 2023 2:42 PM

RESTAURANT WARS!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 123April 28, 2023 3:08 PM

Padma [italic]really[/italic] didn't want to tell Charbel to pack his knives and go. It's always been amusing seeing Padma's crushes on male contestants over the seasons..

by Anonymousreply 124April 28, 2023 3:09 PM

Charbel is my crush, too. On the plus side, he's a good Christian boy and not a Muslim.

by Anonymousreply 125April 29, 2023 2:11 AM

I can't even predict the final three at this point. It could be anybody.

by Anonymousreply 126April 29, 2023 2:26 AM

R125, I do have to say that Padma holds exquisite taste in male chefs over the years!

I was impressed with the speed of Sarah's prep. I'd questioned her inclusion in this season when the cast was announced -- not anymore.

by Anonymousreply 127April 29, 2023 4:00 AM

Sara's restaurant has a delicious-sounding, moderately priced menu.

by Anonymousreply 137May 5, 2023 5:33 AM

Interesting Restaurant Wars last night. I’m glad the focus was on the food. In other Restaurant Wars it seems like the decor and the service played too large a role in the judges’ deliberations and the contestant who chose (or was chosen) to be front of house often got the ax.

by Anonymousreply 138May 5, 2023 1:37 PM

Buddha, Ali and Tom in the finale. That's my prediction.

by Anonymousreply 139May 5, 2023 1:40 PM

Tom is kind of a motherfucker, leaving all that produce at the store. The little gay one looked like he was going to murder him.

by Anonymousreply 140May 6, 2023 3:20 AM

Amar for the finals. He's very talented. And Chervil or whatever his name is will be back from Last Chance Kitchen.

by Anonymousreply 141May 6, 2023 5:08 AM

Charbel.

by Anonymousreply 142May 6, 2023 5:20 AM

R141, I enjoy Amar's personality very much. Makes me want to head out to Laguna Beach and check out his restaurant.

by Anonymousreply 143May 6, 2023 5:20 AM

Victoire, Gabri and Ali are totally outclassed by everyone else.

by Anonymousreply 144May 9, 2023 1:53 AM

R144, hasn't Ali been in the top a number of times? I'd consider him a frontrunner.

by Anonymousreply 145May 9, 2023 2:55 AM

R145, Ali has won several times. He's a likely finalist, along with hottie Tom.

by Anonymousreply 146May 9, 2023 2:58 AM

Ali only excels when he cooks middle eastern food. Very narrow repertoire.

by Anonymousreply 147May 9, 2023 4:11 AM

R147, don't most of these chefs focus on one type of cuisine they excel in? I don't see it as lesser than chefs who specialize in French, Italian, or "New American" (whatever that means).

by Anonymousreply 148May 9, 2023 4:18 AM

Focusing is different from only knowing how to cook one type of food

by Anonymousreply 149May 9, 2023 4:21 AM

by Anonymousreply 152May 9, 2023 5:05 AM

I feel like either Amar or Sara is practically guaranteed a final-two spot since this is an American production for an American network.

My guess is Buddha vs. either of them in the finale.

by Anonymousreply 153May 9, 2023 8:15 PM

Please God, not Sara. Can't stand her.

by Anonymousreply 154May 9, 2023 9:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 156May 9, 2023 11:59 PM

No comments from this week's episode? It was pretty obvious who was going to get the boot and seemed like the correct choice.

by Anonymousreply 157May 13, 2023 3:25 AM

I thought Gabi was going to be sent home. Even though Buddha fucked up there was no way they were letting him go.

According to a post on Reddit, Amar has posted on Twitter about being a Trump supporter several times. It was noted that Padma doesn’t follow him on Twitter or IG, but follows lots of other contestants.

by Anonymousreply 161May 13, 2023 7:34 PM

R161, he doesn’t come across like a Trump supporter. Here’s his Twitter page. I didn’t see anything political but I didn’t go back far in the past.

by Anonymousreply 163May 13, 2023 8:31 PM

R162, according to this post, he follows and likes posts by all the Trumps, Lauren Boebert, Candace Owens, Tucker, DeSantis, Josh Hawley, Musk, etc. I no longer have those platforms so I can’t investigate it myself.

In happier news I can’t get over how beautiful Padma still is. 52 and drop-dead gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 165May 13, 2023 9:45 PM

R159, her dish on LCK looked fascinating.

by Anonymousreply 166May 13, 2023 9:57 PM

I love Padma. I think she's genuinely warm and sincere. Also funny but not bitchy or disrespectful.

by Anonymousreply 167May 13, 2023 10:18 PM

Looks like his instagram and twitter are scrubbed of any Trumpy content. He seems like a nice guy. I wonder if it's a piece of media training. The menu on his Broadway restaurant says
*ALLERGY: NORMAL KITCHEN OPERATIONS INVOLVE SHARED COOKING/PREPARATION AREAS. CROSS CONTACTWITH OTHER FOODS MAY OCCUR DURING PRODUCTION. WE ARE UNABLE TO GUARANTEE THAT ANY MENU ITEM IS COMPLETELY FREE FROM ANY PARTICULAR ALLERGEN * CHANGES & MODIFICATIONS ARE POLITELY DECLINED

At least it's upfront. A little hostile? He likes Bourdain so this is a splash 'fuck you' energy. Or conservative defiance.

by Anonymousreply 168May 13, 2023 10:39 PM

And by conservative defiance I mean putting a 'no masks allowed' sign up in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 169May 13, 2023 10:41 PM

Poor Victoire. She explained the cucumber salad was a palate cleanser but the judges moved right on to 'not seasoned'.

by Anonymousreply 170May 13, 2023 10:43 PM

You'd think Amar would be getting some good cultural exposure from the other chefs. He's traveled as well. Maybe his love for Trump isn't deep.

by Anonymousreply 171May 13, 2023 10:47 PM

What is deep down on Amar's twitter is a non-controversal Newsome retweet and Obama tweet several years ago. Left those up to play defense.

by Anonymousreply 172May 13, 2023 10:52 PM

Still sad the Canadian lumberjack chef is gone. I wanna watch him cook naked.

by Anonymousreply 173May 14, 2023 1:06 AM
Looks like his instagram and twitter are scrubbed of any Trumpy content.

So was there ever any Trumpy content at all--or was that something someone on Reddit just made up?

Any screen shots to prove it?

by Anonymousreply 174May 14, 2023 1:46 AM

I want cutie Charbel back. I hope he makes it out of Last Chance Kitchen.

My pretend husband Tom has the best styled hair.

by Anonymousreply 175May 14, 2023 4:24 PM

I'm confused by Tom. He seems to have some interesting ideas but I can't tell if he's good. In the way you can tell Buddha is accomplished and talented.

by Anonymousreply 176May 14, 2023 6:49 PM

R176, most of the time, the judges have enjoyed Tom's dishes.

by Anonymousreply 177May 14, 2023 6:58 PM

I bet Amar and Sara will be in the finale. The third one may be Buddha or Ali.

by Anonymousreply 178May 16, 2023 4:37 AM

Double eliminations suck but I have a feeling one of them will be back.

by Anonymousreply 179May 19, 2023 2:47 AM

Thank God the two hot guys are left. And we even got a shirtless Ali in tonight's episode.

by Anonymousreply 180May 19, 2023 5:16 AM

I love Gabi, but boy did he luck out getting paired with Buddha.

by Anonymousreply 181May 19, 2023 5:43 AM

At the end of the episode I thought Tom was going in for a kiss when he grabbed Ali by the neck. Alas, ‘twas only a hug.

by Anonymousreply 182May 19, 2023 10:34 AM

I'm thinking Amar comes back.

by Anonymousreply 183May 19, 2023 11:47 AM

The season has been excellent. The spirit between the contestants has been unmatched by any reality tv competition I've seen in the past. Each contestant clearly caring for their other contestants. And so glad Richard Blaise hasn't come back to judge and ruin the chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 184May 19, 2023 1:49 PM

Having the two hot guys (Tom and Ali) on one team was a huge risk, but, thankfully, they lived another day. Hoping Charbel makes it back from Last Chance Kitchen, but it will almost certainly be Amar.

I think the past couple of (COVID era) seasons of Top Chef fit this description, too. Houston, especially.

by Anonymousreply 193May 20, 2023 11:08 AM

by Anonymousreply 203May 21, 2023 12:44 AM
is Tom gay or just European?

So this has always been one major giveaway for me, as to whether or not a guy is gay.

They almost always post obligatory uncle/niece or uncle/nephew photos on their Instagram page.

They know they'll most likely never have kids of their own, and shower all their affection on their nieces and nephews.

I'm sort of guilty of that too.

The other thing is that he's wearing VANS shoes!

I watched all of the Last Chance Kitchen episodes On Demand, and I was surprised and saddened by the outcome.

I won't ruin it for anyone, but it' wasn't the result I was expecting.

by Anonymousreply 205May 21, 2023 7:52 PM

LCK used to save the result of the final LCK winner until the final four episode aired, but this time they revealed the winner.

by Anonymousreply 206May 21, 2023 7:54 PM

In Victoire's Last Chance Kitchen challenge, she had to make a dish with sweet, bitter, and astringent qualities.

I'm a native English speaker, but I couldn't tell you what the hell astringent means.

After the episode, I looked up what foods have an astringent taste, and I still couldn't tell you what an astringent food is or tastes like.

Anyone?

by Anonymousreply 207May 22, 2023 9:22 AM

R207 Astringent is something that makes your mouth dry/pucker. Think vinegar, some dry red wines, Bernadine mouthwash…

by Anonymousreply 208May 22, 2023 10:44 AM

^Betadine not Bernadine.

by Anonymousreply 209May 22, 2023 10:45 AM

As a friend explained.....the pulp of the lemon is sour, but the zest of the lemon is astringent.

by Anonymousreply 210May 22, 2023 1:50 PM

R155, Buddha [italic]is[/italic] arrogant, but most chefs at this level are egomaniacs, and he has the goods to back it up.

by Anonymousreply 211May 22, 2023 1:52 PM

I didn't see any tops in that clip.

by Anonymousreply 212May 22, 2023 1:54 PM

Thanks R208 and R210.

It was confusing, because I was finding so many different foods listed as astringent, such as grapes, and wine, and broccoli, and potatoes, and tomatoes, banana skins, cashews, and acorns. Even milk and yogurt!
LCK used to save the result of the final LCK winner until the final four episode aired, but this time they revealed the winner.

How, R206? I watched it and the winner was not revealed. We'll know come next episode.

by Anonymousreply 214May 23, 2023 1:55 AM

I have cable service at home, so I watched five Last Chance Kitchen episodes in a row.

Then when it got to the end of the final episode, Tom made a decision as to who won.

I was shocked as hell, because they normally don't do that. They save it for that person's return to the competition on the regular episode.

But in this particular instance, I got to see who won. So I already know who's coming back on Thursday night's episode.

by Anonymousreply 215May 23, 2023 1:59 AM

No, you don't.

by Anonymousreply 216May 23, 2023 2:06 AM

It was never revealed. But my guess is that Charbel comes back.

His 3rd dish is more forward thinking than Sarah's "I am going to do what I always do" dish.

by Anonymousreply 217May 23, 2023 2:32 AM

I have Cable on Demand, R216 and R217.

I don't know why neither of you believe that I know the winner, but I do.

However, I'm not going to spoil it. Unless you want me to.

by Anonymousreply 218May 23, 2023 2:37 AM

Post the clip. then, R218. Then, we'll believe you.

by Anonymousreply 219May 23, 2023 3:02 AM

Do you understand what CABLE ON DEMAND is, R219?

It's on my television. Cable television.

by Anonymousreply 220May 23, 2023 3:05 AM

You can record yourself watching your tv, duh.

by Anonymousreply 221May 23, 2023 3:11 AM

Who comes back?

by Anonymousreply 222May 23, 2023 5:07 AM

Sara.

by Anonymousreply 223May 23, 2023 5:22 AM

I doubt that. She was doing the same old thing she always does.

by Anonymousreply 224May 23, 2023 9:31 AM

Amar got defeated in Last Chance Kitchen?

by Anonymousreply 225May 23, 2023 10:42 AM

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 226May 23, 2023 12:49 PM

So in LCK, Charvel and Sara had to improve upon one dish they failed at, make one dish they ate in the UK that they absolutely loved, and then the final dish is something that signifies where their career is headed in the future.

All in 60 minutes. Drama!

So naturally, they got to use 2 of the 5 eliminated chefs from LCK as sous chefs.

Also naturally, that meant the black chef wasn't chosen (rofl).

Sara chose the two women, and Charvel chose the two guys. Victoire was left over, so she got to be a judge.

I forgot what Sara's "improved dish was," but she made fish and chips for her UK dish, and she made something "global" for her future dish, because she said she wanted to incorporate more international inspiration into her Southern cooking.

I also forgot what Charvel made.

I was drinking wine when I watched the five episodes in a row, so I was kind of blitzed by this LCK final episode.

But in any case, Tom chose Sara for the win.

by Anonymousreply 227May 23, 2023 2:50 PM

We do NOT see him selecting Sara in LCK. It's pretty obvious that the judges are going to choose her to go back instead of Charbel (very unfortunately), but it is not explicitly shown in the last episode of LCK.

by Anonymousreply 228May 23, 2023 3:00 PM

Fight! Fight!

by Anonymousreply 229May 23, 2023 10:52 PM

Pay no attention to R228.

She thinks she knows everything.

At the end of the episode, Tom says "And the winner of Last Chance Kitchen is... Sara."

Without hesitation. The end.

I don't know why you assholes don't believe that I actually saw this, but whatever.

You'll see.

by Anonymousreply 230May 23, 2023 11:13 PM

Uh huh.

by Anonymousreply 231May 24, 2023 2:37 AM

R230, yet, you still haven't posted the clip verifying what you claim. Record the TV with your phone and upload it. Any 5 year old can do that today.

by Anonymousreply 232May 24, 2023 3:47 AM

Sorry R230 but I just rewatched the episode and Tom says:

“The winner of LCK is… “

And then the episode ends. He doesn’t say Sarah at all.

by Anonymousreply 233May 24, 2023 9:48 AM

Ali in the gym. Yummmmmm. Great way to start off the episode.

by Anonymousreply 234May 26, 2023 1:11 AM

by Anonymousreply 239May 26, 2023 3:50 AM

by Anonymousreply 242May 26, 2023 3:59 AM

I loved Gabri's dirty sponge dish.

by Anonymousreply 243May 27, 2023 4:07 AM

Sarah needs to go home. She's annoying.

by Anonymousreply 244May 27, 2023 3:52 PM

I agree, R244. Charbel should have been the one to come back. But the show needed a woman in the mix.

by Anonymousreply 245May 27, 2023 4:04 PM

I had been thinking for weeks that Buddha, Sarah, and Ali would be the last ones standing.

by Anonymousreply 246May 27, 2023 4:36 PM

I kind of want Ali to win.

by Anonymousreply 247May 27, 2023 4:57 PM

C'mon.

We all know buda's going to win.

This is Top Chef.

It's rigged for those people.

Tom has a hard on for them.

by Anonymousreply 248May 27, 2023 5:16 PM

“Those people?”

by Anonymousreply 249May 27, 2023 5:19 PM

Buddha deserves to win.

by Anonymousreply 250May 27, 2023 7:13 PM

Ali should win for his good looks alone. Buddha, being the ugliest, should finish last among the finalists.

by Anonymousreply 251May 27, 2023 7:19 PM
Buddha, being the ugliest,

by Anonymousreply 264June 4, 2023 3:23 PM

Ultimately, Ali got the boot for being so boring. That must be why they did the “I like to lift dumbbells” and brief shirtless scene recently. He was kind of bore.

He said that “Ali in the finale” bit like 3x.

by Anonymousreply 265June 5, 2023 6:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 266June 8, 2023 8:42 PM

I thought Alli was adorably nerdy when he kept repeating 'Alli in the finale.'.

by Anonymousreply 267June 8, 2023 10:31 PM

The winner was as predicted and very worthy. What an amazing season.

by Anonymousreply 268June 9, 2023 2:14 PM

They made it very clear Sarah would have won if she had checked the liver temperature before time ran out.

by Anonymousreply 269June 9, 2023 2:23 PM

I was really surprised to see that Gabri made it into the finale. Watching the early episodes, he just barely averted disaster for everything he served. But his food in the finale seemed delicious and well thought-out. I know he won his season of TC: Mexico, but in the early episodes, it was like watching Danny Kaye or Jerry Lewis in the kitchen!

I wondered how Tom felt having to be sous chef to someone he most likely discounted as 'not a serious chef.

It did look like it was a really tough decision between Sarah and Buddha. But the judges could not discount a course almost no one could eat.

by Anonymousreply 270June 9, 2023 2:45 PM

I don’t know how she could’ve overlooked the livers like that. Two whole seasons on Top Chef and she doesn’t know to avoid a pitfall like that?

It was cute when Tom kissed Gabri.

by Anonymousreply 271June 9, 2023 7:02 PM

R279, Gabriel said that Tom is his friend, so I don't think Tom discounted him as a competitor.

by Anonymousreply 272June 9, 2023 9:41 PM

Worthy winner.

by Anonymousreply 273June 9, 2023 9:45 PM

I knew he would win it, although I was rooting for Gabri.

by Anonymousreply 274June 10, 2023 12:00 AM

I know what Buddha's restaurant will be like. Great, tech bros will love it and spend spend spend. Tricks and flash. I think I'd have a better meal and experience at Sarah's place and hope to get there at some point.

by Anonymousreply 275June 10, 2023 3:22 AM

Buddha was clearly the best chef, but it was hard not to root for Gabri.

He's got pluck. And I bet a willing ass.

by Anonymousreply 276June 12, 2023 8:05 AM

With Parma going the next season chefs can cook Indian food without a worry.

by Anonymousreply 277June 12, 2023 11:15 AM

Parma? I mean Padma but it’s a good typo

by Anonymousreply 278June 12, 2023 11:16 AM

I sort of got femme top vibes from Gabri.

by Anonymousreply 279June 12, 2023 2:56 PM

I think we know Gabri is a willing, sleazy bottom.

by Anonymousreply 280June 12, 2023 3:21 PM

R280, is that why he and Tom are such good unexpected "friends?"

by Anonymousreply 281June 12, 2023 3:23 PM

100%, R280. The boy likes it big and likes it rough.

by Anonymousreply 282June 12, 2023 6:01 PM

I bet Tom throws a mean fuck and talks dirty in German.

by Anonymousreply 283June 12, 2023 10:02 PM

Plot twist: Tom is actually GermanGayGuy and that's why that account has gone silent these past months 😂

by Anonymousreply 284June 12, 2023 10:40 PM

And Gail is Cheryl.

by Anonymousreply 285June 13, 2023 10:59 AM

That was another pretty great season. Here's hoping the producers keep the streak going.

Unsurprising that Buddha won, given his edit all season + all his wins. I was happy to see that I correctly predicted two of the three finalists back at R153 and, for a fleeting moment during the finale, thought there might actually be an upset win with Sara taking the title.

by Anonymousreply 286June 15, 2023 7:45 PM

This was the best season in a LONG time (although I could still do without the movie and product-placement tie-ins -- does the show really need that money?). What do we think of Carla Hall as a replacement for Padma?

by Anonymousreply 287June 15, 2023 8:07 PM

r287, she would be perfect.

by Anonymousreply 288June 15, 2023 8:13 PM

R287 YES a thousand times YES

by Anonymousreply 289June 15, 2023 8:31 PM

Carla’s best in small doses.

by Anonymousreply 290June 15, 2023 8:50 PM

Padma's natural replacement is (and will be) Gail.

by Anonymousreply 291June 15, 2023 9:25 PM

Love Carla Hall, but her energy is not right for this show.

She’s best on the light Food Network competition shows (Spring/Halloween/Holiday) Baking Championship.

by Anonymousreply 292June 16, 2023 12:15 AM

Alison Roman would be a good replacement for Padma.

by Anonymousreply 293June 16, 2023 1:02 AM

Hopefully Buddha will buy some humility with that 250K.

by Anonymousreply 294June 16, 2023 1:32 PM

Kristin Kish for host? (I don't mind Gail as a judge, but nearly every time she talks I feel like she's being fed her lines through an earpiece.)

by Anonymousreply 295June 16, 2023 5:22 PM

I nominate ISABELLA ROSSELLINI to take Padma's host/judge role!

by Anonymousreply 296June 17, 2023 8:01 PM

As if.

by Anonymousreply 297June 17, 2023 8:16 PM

Chef Boyardee and Aunt Jemima as cohosts.

by Anonymousreply 298June 17, 2023 11:52 PM

I love the diversity!
