I remember her interview with Martha Stewart right before Martha went to prison.

Barbara- Marta are you pweepared for pwison life= poor food, stwip searches

Martha- Oh no Barbara, they don't do strip searched in minimum security prisons.

Barbara- Oh YES Mata!

by Anonymousreply 10December 31, 2022 1:45 AM

Wow!

DL's timely sneak preview.

by Anonymousreply 12December 31, 2022 1:47 AM

r7 more than likely one of her final wishes was for ABC to break it. Although DL insiders have had her circling the drain for weeks now. RIP

by Anonymousreply 13December 31, 2022 1:48 AM

She outlived Harry Reasoner by over 31 years. Suck on that, Harry!

by Anonymousreply 14December 31, 2022 1:48 AM

Damn, she missed us!

by Anonymousreply 15December 31, 2022 1:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 18December 31, 2022 1:50 AM

She was truly a stuck up and elitist CUNT.

Decent journalist though.

by Anonymousreply 19December 31, 2022 1:50 AM

Sunny will have nothing to say since Barbara wasn't black, unless she says that Barbara wouldn't get all of this attention if she had been black.

by Anonymousreply 20December 31, 2022 1:51 AM

Blind Item a week ago yesterday, said she was close to death.

by Anonymousreply 21December 31, 2022 1:51 AM

Poor Baba Wawa. Pinching myself in disbelief. 93. How could this happen.

by Anonymousreply 22December 31, 2022 1:51 AM

They were right weren't they R21.

by Anonymousreply 23December 31, 2022 1:52 AM

Barbara is now in heaven WITH MY FATHER.

by Anonymousreply 24December 31, 2022 1:52 AM

Another butt of DL jokes gone, RIP. She couldn’t last forever and neither could the Queen.

by Anonymousreply 25December 31, 2022 1:52 AM

Barbara has had dementia for several years.

by Anonymousreply 26December 31, 2022 1:53 AM

She was a cunt to me and tried to protect HW and Bryan S by saying I was damaging Hollywood with my allegations.

by Anonymousreply 27December 31, 2022 1:55 AM

Rest, you piece.

by Anonymousreply 28December 31, 2022 1:56 AM

That cunt called me a drunk!

by Anonymousreply 29December 31, 2022 1:57 AM

by Anonymousreply 30December 31, 2022 1:58 AM

by Anonymousreply 31December 31, 2022 1:58 AM

A true icon.

by Anonymousreply 32December 31, 2022 1:59 AM

She would not RELENT!

by Anonymousreply 33December 31, 2022 2:00 AM

She had a hot ass, but couldn't say Harry Reasoner.

by Anonymousreply 34December 31, 2022 2:00 AM

[quote]Blind Item a week ago yesterday, said she was close to death.

Turned out she was closer than we thought. Evidently she was knocking on the door it just took them a while to answer.

by Anonymousreply 35December 31, 2022 2:00 AM

So it's Pele, Westwood, and Walters. That's a strange one.

by Anonymousreply 36December 31, 2022 2:01 AM

Roy Cohn was waiting at the Gates of Hell for her, arms open and his breath smelling like it always did.

by Anonymousreply 37December 31, 2022 2:02 AM

Bye bye Baba Wawa.

by Anonymousreply 38December 31, 2022 2:02 AM

She couldn’t stomach her disbelief and disgust at what The View has become any longer.

by Anonymousreply 39December 31, 2022 2:03 AM

[R36] I'll substitute Pope John Paul for Westwood (who most people around the world don't know). I say he goes tomorrow.

So it's Pele, Walters and Pope John Paul to end the year 2022.

by Anonymousreply 40December 31, 2022 2:03 AM

She was one hell of a nosey cunt

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 41December 31, 2022 2:04 AM

R40 Pope John Paul has been dead for a long time. You mean Pope Benny

by Anonymousreply 42December 31, 2022 2:04 AM

Why should she RIP? Wasn't she not a very good person? or am I dreaming that?

by Anonymousreply 43December 31, 2022 2:05 AM

We had hoped Barbara would leave with dignity, Barbara chose another way.

by Anonymousreply 44December 31, 2022 2:05 AM

Sally Quinn told CNN the last five years she had cut off contact with the outside world. She refused all phone calls and emails.

by Anonymousreply 45December 31, 2022 2:05 AM

You can always count on big ones in the last days of every year and Pele, Vivienne Westwood and Barbara Walters are some of the.....biggest.

Problem was she was knocking on the wrong door at first. (Barbara got confused, you see.)

by Anonymousreply 48December 31, 2022 2:08 AM

ABC, coincidentally, is airing 2020 right now, and is doing a Special Report feature on her.

Barbara probably threatened to haunt them if they didn't do a Special report on her death. Remember Barbara was pals with witch Sally Quinn.

by Anonymousreply 53December 31, 2022 2:13 AM

Oh, yeah, r52. Your reminded me that Walters and Sawyer had a frosty relationship.

by Anonymousreply 54December 31, 2022 2:14 AM

^^^^^OOOOPs, I meant Pope Benedict. Sorry!

I say he goes tomorrow and it will be three world-known famous people: Pele, Walters and Pope Benedict. I don't think most people know who Vivienne Westwood was, so I would skip her.

by Anonymousreply 55December 31, 2022 2:16 AM

Sally Quinn will be dishing gossip till she dies.

Can't stand her, but, I grant grudging respect to her for that.

by Anonymousreply 56December 31, 2022 2:17 AM

I don't think people in most of Europe or Asia would have a clue who Baba was

by Anonymousreply 57December 31, 2022 2:17 AM

[quote] She outlived Harry Reasoner by over 31 years.

Hawwy Weasoner?

by Anonymousreply 58December 31, 2022 2:18 AM

Yeah, she shattered the glass ceiling, but she was unsupportive of other women in her field. In fact, she would often backstab them. She never hired women producers. She was jealous and made catty remarks when Connie Chung and Katie Couric were made anchors of CBS Evening News.

As far as her journalistic legacy, she played a big part in making hard news soft. Her ABC colleague Peter Jennings had no respect for her.

by Anonymousreply 59December 31, 2022 2:19 AM

Brothers Matthau and Finlay, sister Jessica and now little Babs. The end of the Walters family era.

After the break, Gene Rayburn joins us. We'll ask him if Gila death bed repented for being so mean and funny about beloved former first lady, Babara Walters. This is Larry King Live...

by Anonymousreply 68December 31, 2022 2:26 AM

[R60] As she passed away, she was listening to "Eva's final broadcast" from EVITA, which she sang along with and took her last breath:

"I want to tell the people of Argentina

I've decided I should decline

All the honors and titles you've pressed me to take

For I'm contented

Let me simply go on

As the woman who brings her people to the heart of Perón!

Don't cry for me Argentina

For the truth is I shall not leave you

Though it may get harder

For you to see me

I'm Argentina

And always will be"

by Anonymousreply 69December 31, 2022 2:26 AM

R64 I loved that take down. Sometimes she got things right about people. Has Trump tweeted anything on her yet?

by Anonymousreply 73December 31, 2022 2:29 AM

This is terrible career news for Cheri Oteri.

by Anonymousreply 74December 31, 2022 2:33 AM

by Anonymousreply 75December 31, 2022 2:33 AM

I have a feeling the show may be pre-empted on Tuesday, if that's the day of her funeral. I wouldn't be surprised if they take all of next week off and return on January 9.

Who wants to see Whoopi and Sarah cry next week ? And watch Joy fumble for her words ? And hear Sunny accuse her of racism ? All too soon.

by Anonymousreply 93December 31, 2022 2:53 AM

Wow.

An attention-grabbing pro to the end.

She died on a quiet Friday of a New Year's Eve weekend and has the airwaves to herself.

by Anonymousreply 94December 31, 2022 2:54 AM

I found r89's post worthy of a W/W *and* an actual LOL, r92...

by Anonymousreply 95December 31, 2022 2:55 AM

by Anonymousreply 96December 31, 2022 2:57 AM

by Anonymousreply 97December 31, 2022 2:59 AM

Has her Larry King special been posted yet?

by Anonymousreply 98December 31, 2022 3:01 AM

Guy on ABC just said that they're airing a 2 hour special on Sunday night.

by Anonymousreply 99December 31, 2022 3:01 AM

Does this mean no more Barbara Walters specials? I mean she was pretty much a puppet in those, they can just operate her as norma right?

by Anonymousreply 100December 31, 2022 3:02 AM

2 hour special or 2 hour punishment for viewers ?

by Anonymousreply 101December 31, 2022 3:02 AM

Barbara is now with the love of her life Roy Cohn.

by Anonymousreply 102December 31, 2022 3:03 AM

Hugely overrated in everything she did.

A public speaker with some of the worst speech and vocal production known to man!

Walters was as unpleasant and irritating as she was hard to look at.

Bye.

by Anonymousreply 103December 31, 2022 3:06 AM

Guess Andi and Anderson won’t be trotting Cheri Oteri out to do her Barbara impression tomorrow night.

by Anonymousreply 104December 31, 2022 3:10 AM

by Anonymousreply 105December 31, 2022 3:13 AM

Barbara.

But the names she knew, oy. Trump. Jackie. Cohn. Koch. Cuomo ...

by Anonymousreply 106December 31, 2022 3:14 AM

Has Judge Judy commented on her death ? She and Wawa were very close friends (along with Joan Rivers and Cindy Adams).

by Anonymousreply 107December 31, 2022 3:16 AM

And we're back.

She was a bitch. No calls, please. Good riddance. Bitch.

Next, Bindi Irwin on whether she ever got too close to an attentive Flipper.

But first this word from Garlique.

by Anonymousreply 108December 31, 2022 3:18 AM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 109December 31, 2022 3:21 AM

She fucked her way to the top.

by Anonymousreply 110December 31, 2022 3:22 AM

She never got over the humiliation of her retarded sister and father's downfall, and spent tne rest of her life trying to make the rich/pretty girls cry.

by Anonymousreply 111December 31, 2022 3:25 AM

You can be sure Barbara herself wrote her own obit years ago, exactly the way she wanted it. She most likely also produced and supervised an hour (or 2) special of her life and career to be televised after her death.

Connie Chung called in and sounded like she'd been drinking all day. She said, "Harry Reashoner DESHPISHED her!"

I’m not at all surprised by Rosie’s statement. She wouldn’t think anything of screaming at Barbara and calling her a horrible mother to Jackie to her face (which she admits she did) and then at the same time explain their relationship as warm and giving.

All news organizations, whether print, TV or any other media, have long-planned obituaries of the most famous people prepared years in advance. They're called JIC (Just In Case). Barbara wrote and produced her own for ABC over 10 years ago.

Yeah I highly doubt any former cohosts will be returning to The View commemorate her, they already did a big reunion some years ago and the show has changed drastically. Im sure it will be 1 day tribute where cohosts may call or Zoom in but that's it. She got her roses when she retired and she totally became reclusive during the last years. Seems like she did not want too much fanfare and the end.

The week of Sept. 11, 2021, Peter Jennings was at the news desk almost 24/7. He got increasingly cranky as the week progressed.

I’ll never forget his pained look of barely buried fury when he was forced to interact with Barbara Walters, who muscled her way onto the news floor, holding an old timey reporter notebook, and reading comments about the tragedy from ancient Broadway stars and society dames. Jennings looked like he was using every bit of energy to keep himself from throttling her.

It was a hilarious break in a very grim week. I think it was the first time I laughed that week.

R284, And Jackie Guber STILL has not issued a personal public statement.

by Anonymousreply 285January 4, 2023 3:44 AM

I don't think Walters is in Heaven - she said so herself years ago.

According to Walters, being of Jewish faith, they do not believe in Heaven since they don't believe in Christianity. She had said (on 'The View') that in the Jewish faith, you believe the person dies - and that it is; there is no afterlife. No Heaven, no Hell - not for Jews. (Elisabeth Hasslebeck was confused by this - I guess she thought Jews were Christians ?)

I remember Joan Rivers also said this years ago on her 1991 talk show - since they believe Jesus was a great prophet, but not the Son of God, there is no Heaven or Hell for them.

Which is why I was always confused with the song 'Papa, Can You Hear Me ?' from YENTL. Her father was a devout Jew, but in the beginning of the song she lights her candle and sings,

"God - our heavenly Father

Oh God - and my father

Who is also in heaven"

A devout Jew wouldn't be singing this about another devout Jew - would they ?

Is there anyone here who is Jewish and can confirm this ?

by Anonymousreply 286January 4, 2023 3:20 PM

We in the media cover our own.
