Texas GOP looks to restrict transgender health care and drag shows

GOP legislators are barreling ahead with an updated party platform, officially unveiled over the summer, that defines homosexuality as an “abnormal lifestyle choice” and is opposed to “all efforts to validate transgender identity.”

The bill defines a drag performer as anyone who “exhibits a gender identity that is different than the performer’s gender assigned at birth “by using “clothing, makeup, or other physical markers” and “sings, lip syncs, dances, or otherwise performs” in front of an audience.

IF this bill passes, they will report any theater that serves alcohol (lots of them do to make extra money) performing a play or musical with anyone dressed as the opposite gender. Many years ago, Dallas Theater Center performed Six Degrees of Separation and, even though there were signs and notifications in the lobby that there was nudity in the show, this old biddy got upset and called the police. A big stink arose, the show was almost shut down, the mayor got involved.
