Other states allow that kind of defense, but only if the minor is a certain age, i.e. could pass for 18 reasonably. For the most part, adults are expected to make sure the relationship and activity is legal, it is not legally the minor's responsibility to do this.

Ignorance of the law is no defense for when you break the law. That is a fundamental legal principle in the U.S.
