We aren't in or near a recession, OP, you dumbass. We have low unemployment. The high prices are due to price-gouging. We are basically in a corporate hostile takeover of our country and they are working in collusion with foreign states like Saudi Arabia and China. All for their own profits.

R3, the vast majority of money from China is invested in Asian countries. Some of it is invested in North America but it’s dwarfed by the billions spent investing in Asian countries. Saudi Arabia has been investing in various foreign companies for years to reduce its economic dependence on oil, but I can’t find a chart giving percentages. By a corporate hostile takeover, do you mean a scenario where shareholder interests take precedence to everything else, including social health? And where the same owners hold shares in competing companies and therefore can control prices? I think that is happening but I would be hard pressed to say it’s just because of foreign investments.

Foreign shareholders do own 40 percent of US shares though. The rest is held in retirement funds and by the wealthy.
