What do you think?

I love the treacherous parapet he's named Angelina's wing.

[quote] Brad Pitt buys cliff house in Carmel

The Cliffhanger: Angelina has hired a rain man to focus storms on a certain cliff in Carmel.

by Anonymousreply 2October 12, 2022 12:05 PM

It's beautiful. It looks more like Italy, Greece or Croatia, than California.

by Anonymousreply 3October 12, 2022 12:11 PM

Two comments and both about Angelina Jolie on a thread that has nothing to do with her.

by Anonymousreply 4October 12, 2022 12:12 PM

Needs more stone 🙄

by Anonymousreply 5October 12, 2022 12:16 PM

Is stacked stone more likely to resist earth tremors and shakes or more likely to crumble? It seems like a preservation nightmare. But also seems like a good fit to Pitt who can entertain himself for decades in the his dotage renovating this and that. It will have a pleasant masculine interior. I was surprised how much I like the interior, more than the exterior. Exterior reminds me of Gillette Castle in CT and many homespun "grand" rock houses and castles scattered here and there.

He bought the house months ago and we had a few threads on it already. Weird topic to bring up again.

Love the property, but THIS is the house that needs to be there...

From the movie "North by Northwest"

Is it the house from Judy's A Star is Born? It looks depressing enough.

by Anonymousreply 9October 12, 2022 12:28 PM

It's the DL James house and I love it.

by Anonymousreply 10October 12, 2022 12:29 PM

The property in France was magnificent. This is meh in comparison.

by Anonymousreply 11October 12, 2022 12:36 PM

The cliff house looks like a place where a violent child abuser would lure innocents to their doom!

by Anonymousreply 12October 12, 2022 12:44 PM

An interesting house. A nice house. But for $40M, I would want an elegant house with some better architecture and interiors.

by Anonymousreply 13October 12, 2022 12:44 PM

Earthquake and it's gone.

by Anonymousreply 14October 12, 2022 12:49 PM

@r12, "The cliff house looks like a place where a violent child abuser would lure innocents to their doom!"

Just needs Angelina Jolie and some fresh baked gingerbread...

Actors are overpaid.

by Anonymousreply 16October 12, 2022 1:05 PM

There is more details here, it looks like he is cash broke and ready to leave Hollywood for good and retire.

I’ve been to Caramel. I actually saw Oscar winner Dorothy Malone hanging her laundry back when she was still alive. I also purchased a couple of charming Christmas ornaments from a shoppe that I’ve since retired as I’m now walking in the truth as Witness.

by Anonymousreply 18October 12, 2022 2:14 PM

R18 = KS, hard at work on his third instalment of memoirs?

by Anonymousreply 19October 12, 2022 2:43 PM

I doubt he’s cash poor if he can buy that place. He’s not selling that LA compound, just renting it. I can’t see him living in a celebrity retirement village lol Too bad Brad didn’t follow the Keanu model of aging celebrity heartthrob. Keanu is the only one of that era that still really impresses me.

by Anonymousreply 20October 18, 2022 3:32 PM

someone called the TOWN of Carmel a "celebrity retirement village". He is not moving into a Shady Pines. That house, in Carmel, is the "celebrity retirement village".

by Anonymousreply 21October 18, 2022 3:58 PM

Too many rocks.

by Anonymousreply 22October 18, 2022 4:00 PM

It's one of the masterpieces of Charles Sumner Greene, also responsible for the Gamble House in Pasadena.

Hope Pitt takes good care of it.

by Anonymousreply 23October 18, 2022 4:08 PM

Do you even lift, brah?

by Anonymousreply 24October 18, 2022 4:16 PM

The man is pushing 60 and has been through hell in the last 10 years. Some of it was of his own making, but that doesn't make it less hellish. He's got his Oscar and plenty of money: I an see him keeping a low profile at least for a few years, until the twins turn 18 and Angelina moves on to her next crusade. He can produce as long as he wants, and will probably get some juicy supporting roles in his 60s and 70s the way other aging A-list men do. Audiences still like him, the industry likes him, he'll be fine.

by Anonymousreply 25October 18, 2022 5:44 PM

I love this house. And it being a D.L. James’ former home, makes it even more idyllic, because surely one can imagine how he lived and worked, while in the home.

The ocean views are stunning in a way most beach homes cannot offer a viewer, due to the manner in which the house is designed strategically.

Congrats to BP. I hope he enjoys his home as much as he possibly can. 👍🏽

by Anonymousreply 26October 18, 2022 6:41 PM

Enjoy retirement, Brad!

by Anonymousreply 27October 18, 2022 7:39 PM

This house isn't in Carmel, it is in Carmel Highlands. It is very secluded. Right near Sharon Stone's house in Basic Instinct.

by Anonymousreply 28October 18, 2022 7:49 PM

It's very rustic and old world...beautiful. A gorgeous home on the rugged California coast.

by Anonymousreply 29October 18, 2022 8:05 PM

Is it high enough to survive a mega tsunami?

by Anonymousreply 30October 18, 2022 8:08 PM

I bought a house in Nougat.

by Anonymousreply 31October 18, 2022 9:47 PM

If I were rich I'd live along the coast anywhere from Santa Barbara up to SF. The most beautiful coastline this side of the Mediterranean 😍

by Anonymousreply 32October 18, 2022 9:54 PM

R17, I stand corrected. You might be onto something. I don’t think he’ll ever be destitute, but I read he is selling his production company, Plan B. So he might be having some financial issues. I thought it was odd that he was doing all these side ventures. It does seem like he’s winding down his Hollywood career.

by Anonymousreply 33October 19, 2022 2:49 AM

R33, his legal battle is expensive and he might lose money from that 250 million lawsuit..
