Brad Pitt Pays $40 Million for 100-Year-Old Historic California Mansion

Supposedly he is happier now than he’s been in years, despite the circumstances. Also, this is the most expensive home ever sold in Carmel, California.

I’m happy he’s doing well. Always loved Brad Pitt. He’s a great movie star.

What the point of this story if there are no pictures of the home?

by Anonymousreply 1July 27, 2022 8:10 PM

Complete with a whole closet just for his skirts!

by Anonymousreply 2July 27, 2022 8:10 PM

you can see how cartilage still grows.

by Anonymousreply 3July 27, 2022 8:12 PM

Where the fuck did he get $40 million dollars from? I didn't think he was rich enough to buy a house that expensive. 🤔

Goodness...

by Anonymousreply 4July 27, 2022 8:14 PM

R1, that would be pictures of the HOUSE.

by Anonymousreply 5July 27, 2022 8:18 PM

Is it as classy as miss Joan Fontaine's abode in Carmel ?

don't think so

by Anonymousreply 6July 27, 2022 8:25 PM

He looks like someone in that picture, can’t put my finger on it.

Kris Kristofferson?

by Anonymousreply 7July 27, 2022 8:31 PM

Stormy.

People do remember that 100 years ago was 1922. La-di-da.

I grew up in a 1870s house and when we moved to one built in 1904 it was like being in the present.

Brad is so lost and vapid.

by Anonymousreply 9July 27, 2022 8:34 PM

I too like Brad Pitt. A real movie star. Cool.

by Anonymousreply 10July 27, 2022 8:37 PM

Not only is Brad a great movie star, he’s an amazing wife beater too, OP.

by Anonymousreply 11July 27, 2022 8:58 PM

Good for him! After all the crap he's put up with I'm glad he hit his claws on a Greene & Greene "bachelor pad (?)." I wish I had one! He's a legit fan of architecture and actually knows a lot about it. Go Brad. Need a roommate?

by Anonymousreply 12July 27, 2022 8:58 PM

^*got Please, DL ... give us an edit function. Just for the damn typos and autocorrect absurdities.

[quote] he’s an amazing wife beater too, OP.

Married to that monster and her orphanage…..do you blame him? There’s only so much a guy can take.

by Anonymousreply 14July 27, 2022 9:31 PM

Oh is that the latest angle from Jolie’s camp? That he’s a wife beater? 🙄

by Anonymousreply 15July 27, 2022 10:07 PM

Great house.

Hope he gets to spend time there and enjoy it.

It’s a beautiful home.

by Anonymousreply 16July 28, 2022 2:14 AM

R4, he’s worth a ton between his films, production company, winery and flipping these houses every few years for profit. Rob Lowe had some insanely expensive house he was selling and he’s not nearly as rich as Pitt.

As far as Jolie, I’m generally on his side, however, I think he can be petty. He should’ve sold his share of the winery and been done with it. He also was pretty inconsiderate how he handled the Aniston split.

by Anonymousreply 17July 28, 2022 2:34 AM

R17 why even reply to such a stupid comment? Who in their right mind thinks Pitt is broke!?

by Anonymousreply 18July 28, 2022 2:40 AM

This should’ve been a tasteful friends thread.

by Anonymousreply 19July 28, 2022 6:15 AM

Not enough photos online, r19.

You’ll find plenty of bushes,, tiled roof, spooky arches, a cliff side view, and a lovely fireplace.

by Anonymousreply 20July 28, 2022 9:50 AM

I doubt the interior is decorated this way today, of course, but there are a few good photos here.

A bunch of photos of the exterior here, but it's so overgrown you can hardly see it.

I never understood the hype. He always looked dumber than a box of rocks to me, and downright ugly in the face. His facial expressions are revoltingly stupid too. And he's a notorious smeller . He will always be that moronic bimbo in the Cohen bros movie to me

by Anonymousreply 23July 28, 2022 10:02 AM

Damn, his nose is getting huge!

R23 I never understood the hype either.

by Anonymousreply 27July 28, 2022 10:35 AM

3,000 square feet is hardly a mansion! Maybe to people in Manhattan it is, but not in the real world.

by Anonymousreply 28July 28, 2022 10:35 AM

Unlike all the cliffside homes down around LA this one is built on a rock outcropping, so hopefully it's better protected against the ravages off the sea. But clearly he's paying mainly for the setting and view. The house is rather foreboding looking.

It has possibilities. Does it have granite countertops and room for entertaining?

by Anonymousreply 30July 28, 2022 1:54 PM

Calling that pile "craftsman" or bungalow is just idiotic.

Nice view though.

by Anonymousreply 31July 28, 2022 2:44 PM

Better than the one I live in, that’s for sure.

by Anonymousreply 32July 28, 2022 2:51 PM

You may not like it, but it is a Greene and Greene home in Mediterranean style with heavy Arts and Crafts influences, so yes, it's accurate to call that "pile" a bungalow.

by Anonymousreply 33July 28, 2022 3:38 PM

I'd rather have Kim Novak's Carmel house for a fraction of the cost. I like how her house sits down closer to the water.

^ Wow, gorgeous

by Anonymousreply 35July 28, 2022 4:33 PM

All of those arts and crafts homes up there are quite lovely.

We have some in SoCal, as well. I know someone who built his, or at the very least added to the smaller structure that was already there.

They’re usually quite old, so they do require a lot of upkeep and some tweaks along the way. It can be difficult to maintain the integrity of the original structure, hence it’s important to find craftsmen who are licensed, bonded and insured, yet who are also highly skilled at working with the materials these homes are usually built with.

The location of this home up the northwestern coast, all on its own, is breathtaking.

by Anonymousreply 36July 28, 2022 4:58 PM

It's right next to the Cabrillo Highway. $40 million to listen to car and traffic noise all day long.

by Anonymousreply 37July 28, 2022 5:09 PM

What does elder witch hag jolie say about this?

by Anonymousreply 38July 28, 2022 5:17 PM

R28 this is what was considered a mansion back then. Even in the 50s-70s, mansions were smaller than what we have today. The 80s started the huge mansion craze.

by Anonymousreply 39July 28, 2022 5:36 PM

I wonder if there will be a tipping point for their kids where they realize it's more advantageous to be in good relations with Dad instead of whatever Grey Gardens situation Jolie is creating at her house.

by Anonymousreply 40July 28, 2022 5:37 PM

Grey Gardens!

😂😂😂
