I’m not that worried about all the new side stories Alice is planning to add. Episode 6 ( that focused a lot on Tara/Darcy) was actually my favorite episode in season one. I expect about half of each episode in s2/s3 to focus on Nick/Charlie and the other half to integrate in more subplots about the side characters. The Nick/Charlie arc will spread over the entire series, and then each smaller episode arch can involve other characters.

R61 I’m less worried about the time split - Netflix will make Alice focus on Nick and Charlie still - and don’t mind side characters being developed more. Frankly my bigger concern is what the plot points are and the acting skills involved. Nick realizing he’s bi and coming to terms with it worked because there were also a lot more lighthearted moments of him and Charlie really enjoying one another’s company; I think Charlie’s ED and self harm will strike a chord because Charlie has been pretty well built out already and we’re invested in him. If Alice uses the time on the side characters to just discuss more and more diversity social Justice things then I do think that replaces character development. Tao and Elle will be fine but the other plotlines, who knows. Also candidly just think Joe and Kit are by far the strongest young actors in the show. If any side characters were going to get an arc built out I think Jenny could have carried it but alas.

I thought the art teacher was a good actor last season, so hopefully his new love interest will be too. Semi random, but while I understand Alice likes dialogue and conversations to move the plot along, I hope Joe gets more nonverbal or solo scenes next season. I thought he was overall very good especially for his first onscreen role but especially thrived in both heavier scenes and nonverbal acting (his reaction when Nick left the room after their first kiss for instance). Especially since a big plot point is Charlie’s mental health issues and him trying to downplay and keep them to himself, including solo scenes where he’s struggling would make sense and let Joe showcase more acting ability. Thinking along the lines of Nick trying to figure out his sexuality, something about Charlie being in denial about the extent of his ED or self harm.

Either Alice has written the season 2 and 3 scripts very quickly, or the season 2 scripts pretty slowly. It seemed to take months and months of working flat out, considering the main storyline and dialogue already exists. At least they know in advance that they have a season 3, so she can hopefully have a little break and then get ahead with writing it so it isn't such a major stress.

R126 this was already discussed in r15 and the few comments after this. Consensus was it was work related as it was a mutual follow, Jordan follows no one else from HS, and Jordan lives in America / is married with a young baby so they didn’t run into one another in London.

I sort of hate admitting this, but I was bored the other day and did a deep dive into all of Joe’s follows. His public IG is definitely for work only and he only follows companies and people working in the industry. The super interesting thing is that there are several fairly large name actors that Joe follows and is also followed by that have no HS connection. I don’t know much about Jordan Fisher, but Joe is the only HS person following him, and Joe is the only HS person Jordan follows. I hope some of these follows lead to future projects, but who knows.
