King Charles

Who ever believed that would happen?

by Anonymousreply 592December 27, 2022 5:05 PM

People with a functional brain?

by Anonymousreply 2September 8, 2022 5:48 PM

How about Queen Consort Camilla? Even more unbelievable.

by Anonymousreply 3September 8, 2022 5:51 PM

Frumpy Camilla!

by Anonymousreply 4September 8, 2022 5:57 PM

He won't reign as long as his mother, he's 73.

by Anonymousreply 5September 8, 2022 5:58 PM

That's QUEEN Camilla to YOU, r4

by Anonymousreply 6September 8, 2022 5:58 PM

Bye, bye!

by Anonymousreply 7September 8, 2022 5:59 PM

Isn’t that a stupid inbred mutt with floppy ears, popular for a few minutes but no one cares now?

Or a dog breed?

by Anonymousreply 10September 8, 2022 6:05 PM

Can you imagine living your life with the sole purpose being to await your parent's death?

I mean, sure, Uday, Qusay, and Javanka are doing that, as well. But, Charles's sole reason for being is to sit around and wait for his mother's death.

by Anonymousreply 11September 8, 2022 6:08 PM

I'm not British nor a frau. So I think it's pretty realistic that she was going to die very soon and I expected it. Not shocking considering how old she was. And yeah her son doesn't seem popular but that's how monarchy works. It's inherited not popular vote. Maybe The UK will finally become a republic and stop clinging to an outdated monarchy. And while at that, also stop voting conservative assholes to the government. I'm tired of Brits bashing The US while ignoring their country's problems.

by Anonymousreply 14September 8, 2022 6:13 PM

Seemed kind of inevitable to me.

by Anonymousreply 15September 8, 2022 6:41 PM

Everyone knew it would happen OP. Did you think Elizabeth was immortal...?

by Anonymousreply 16September 8, 2022 6:46 PM

I thought he wanted to be called George VII, not Charles III, when he ascended the throne. Seems like everyone is calling him King Charles.

by Anonymousreply 17September 8, 2022 8:02 PM

Camila will be the ugliest queen consort ever, and that is saying a lot.

by Anonymousreply 18September 8, 2022 8:09 PM

Because he has announced he is Charles III.

As if.

by Anonymousreply 19September 8, 2022 8:11 PM

Well, now begins the Madness of King Charles III, I’m sure they’ll try to blame it on porphyria again.

by Anonymousreply 20September 8, 2022 8:24 PM

Charles has always said he’s cleaning house and tightening things up. So I guess a lot of people at the Palace are pulling out their resumes and a lot of those extra are shitting bricks now. I would assume she has left Andrew well taken care of, so he’ll be okay when Charles ices him out.

by Anonymousreply 21September 8, 2022 8:27 PM

Will his first act as King be the dismantling of all UK architecture post WWII.

by Anonymousreply 22September 8, 2022 8:33 PM

^They won't make cuts among the staff who are charged with carting around Charles' personal toilet seat and installing it wherever he needs to use the facilities.

by Anonymousreply 23September 8, 2022 8:33 PM

Charles is quite liberal, so it will be interesting to see how he handles this role.

No, its NOT R6, but you certainly can continue worshipping the cunt.

by Anonymousreply 39September 8, 2022 9:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 44September 8, 2022 9:39 PM

by Anonymousreply 45September 8, 2022 9:42 PM

What will queen mother camilla do next?

by Anonymousreply 46September 8, 2022 9:48 PM

The best way to end this antiquated system is to ignore Charles. Folks will realize that the firm is not necessary.

by Anonymousreply 47September 8, 2022 10:37 PM

It’s weird never to see Camilla’s children and grandchildren.

by Anonymousreply 48September 8, 2022 10:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 49September 8, 2022 10:43 PM

The best thing that could happen of course would for Horsemilla Cuntwhore to croak as soon as possible and spare us the torture of having to see it day in & day out. Sadly, the cancer rumors from a few years back were not true, so we can only hope now.

[quote]King Charles

I can't see that without thinking Spaniels. Goofiest dogs on the planet.

by Anonymousreply 51September 8, 2022 11:09 PM

King Charles spaniels are THE most wonderful, loving dogs anyone could own. They are literally known as the most loving - and most loveable - breed. You have no idea what you're talking about, r51

by Anonymousreply 52September 9, 2022 12:05 AM

So, the corgis are out and the King Charles Spaniels are in? Will her dogs be put to sleep and buried with her along with most of the household servants?

by Anonymousreply 53September 9, 2022 12:37 AM

Who *is* going to take the Corgis?

by Anonymousreply 54September 9, 2022 12:54 AM

Literally nothing else could have happened.

by Anonymousreply 55September 9, 2022 12:56 AM

The Queen will probably leave her horses to Anne and her Corgis to William. Anne has bull terriers and one of them killed one of Queen's Corgis a few years ago. William and Kate just have peaceful cockers.

by Anonymousreply 56September 9, 2022 1:25 AM

DAMN, had no idea r56. Yes, let's not send them to Anne and her killer dogs.

by Anonymousreply 57September 9, 2022 1:28 AM

Though honestly, I imagine the corgis have been cared for by servants for years. If they can keep doing that, the dogs should be happy enough.

by Anonymousreply 58September 9, 2022 1:30 AM

Poor corgis.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 59September 9, 2022 1:30 AM

I think Andrew has or had a corgi. Maybe he and Fergie will take them. All that would happen is they would be taken on a walk one day from Windsor Castle in Windsor Park, end up at Andrew's and that's that. It will give him something to do in exile.

by Anonymousreply 60September 9, 2022 1:31 AM

The Queen got a couple of Corgi puppies last year after Philip's death. She was lonely.

by Anonymousreply 61September 9, 2022 1:49 AM

R61 Maybe she should of just gotten some geriatric sex toys instead.

by Anonymousreply 62September 9, 2022 2:12 AM

eh, you get to the age where another Corgi is better r62. Sex is just such a goddamn bore after awhile.

by Anonymousreply 63September 9, 2022 2:23 AM

Will Charles now use the money in those Saudi suitcases?

by Anonymousreply 64September 9, 2022 2:29 AM

HM stopped breeding and acquiring new corgis and dorgis several years ago, telling friends she didn't want any to be left behind without her. By the time off Philip's death, she had none. After Philip died, a close friend gave her one of each descended from HM's dogs and she accepted them.

A dorgi is a mix of a corgi and dachshund. It's not a breed recocognized by any kennel association but they are supposed to be very smart and very sweet. The first one was created when one of HM's corgis impregnaated one of Princess Margaret's dachshunds but it wasn't planned.

So there is no big pack of dogs left to be cared for, just the two.

by Anonymousreply 70September 9, 2022 3:29 AM

“Consort” sounds kind of seedy. Like a mashup of the words concubine and escort.

by Anonymousreply 71September 9, 2022 3:31 AM

That's what I said r71. Oh, what a lovely sofa. Can I have it?

by Anonymousreply 72September 9, 2022 3:33 AM

He will balls it up within a year. Elizabeth could rely on a well spring of generational goodwill spanning 70 years. Charlie has zero resonance with anyone under 50. With the older crowd he's remembered as Mr Tampon and a big eared dilettante who talked to plants. C & C 's coronation will cost a fortune at at time when post Brexit the kingdom is sliding into to penury. I think the government will force him to abdicate in favor of the newer more popular brand of Big Willy and Kate. Much liked the cardinals did with Pope Benedict. Surprised if Charles III lasts out 2025.

Two things I like about Charles: one, his championing of classical architecture. Two, his love of nature and growing things. Very English.

Mummy was the Greatest Generation .Sonny is a Boomer. Tells ya all ya need to know.

by Anonymousreply 77September 9, 2022 3:57 AM

R75 Wouldn't count on that.

by Anonymousreply 78September 9, 2022 4:04 AM

If Charles can rein in his overly poticised "climate change" rhetoric and revert back to plain old fashioned environmental conservation, he will make a good and unifying King.

More saving of, say, endangered plants/species (see his successful campaign to save the English Ash tree), and less Davos/WEF-inspired meddling in how Britons' live their daily lives, and he should do ok.

by Anonymousreply 79September 9, 2022 4:20 AM

If HM King Charles (very weird typing that!) was smart, he would save the country tens of millions of quid and continue the use of Brit currency with his late mum's image in tribute to her being Britain's longest reigning monarch. Otherwise, they'll print new money now and then have to do it all over again in another 20 or so years if/when Wills becomes king.

by Anonymousreply 80September 9, 2022 4:37 AM

Charles might surprise people.

Remember Giuliani. Everybody hated him, then everybody loved him during 911. Now, everybody hates him again.

Charles may rise to the occasion.

by Anonymousreply 83September 9, 2022 6:15 AM

by Anonymousreply 86September 9, 2022 1:09 PM

The best thing Charles could do for the country is to restore the powers of the monarchy. Who can say honestly that the mess and divisiveness of British politics of the last fifty years is better than the king having political power? Charles and William would both rule benevolently.

by Anonymousreply 87September 9, 2022 1:13 PM

[quote] Will his first act as King be the dismantling of all UK architecture post WWII.

Instead of dismantling the London skyscrapers, perhaps they could just put nice Georgian facades around them. I would leave the Gherkin as it is. It’s very pretty.

by Anonymousreply 88September 9, 2022 1:22 PM

Charles is a bland borefest, but then again so is William. The real problem with Charles as King is being subjected to seeing more of Horsemilla Cuntwhore.

by Anonymousreply 93September 9, 2022 1:51 PM

Coinage and notes with the queen on them don't get withdrawn, R80,. That's never happened. New issues of Charles will join the existing currency, which then gradually changes over time. For coins at least there could easily be a majority of the queen's in currency throughout Charles's reign. That's what happened in James I's and Edward VII's reigns.

by Anonymousreply 94September 9, 2022 1:52 PM

In 1972 I received coins with George VI on them in my change. Liz will still be on the money for a long time.

by Anonymousreply 95September 9, 2022 2:36 PM

Yes, in the early 70s you could get bronze coins of Edward VII, George V and George VI in your pocket money - even Victoria, very rarely. Decimalisatio involving a completely new coinage and a long reign have made people forget this.

by Anonymousreply 96September 9, 2022 2:40 PM

R94- Thank you, that was strangely comforting.

by Anonymousreply 97September 9, 2022 3:01 PM

I don’t think Charles is boring. I think he got some of the fun beat out of him when he couldn’t marry the woman he wanted, but if I’m hosting a party, Charles would be on the guest list before William.

by Anonymousreply 98September 9, 2022 3:16 PM

I liked Charles then I hated Charles then I liked him again. I began forgiving him for gaslighting Diana when, understanding her appeal and the emotion of grief, he insisted that her funeral be open to the public and her procession be longer. The BRF wanted a private one by her family as they were so out of touch with their public, and the world for that matter.

Charles could easily have become an entitled moron like Andrew but he is constantly learning and has genuine empathy for underprivileged youth, the focus of his Prince's Trust. He can be stubbornly inflexible about his pet causes like homeopathy but by all accounts he is attentive and present with people. Those are rare virtues in my experience and not only from rich entitled people. I never believed the British public wouldn't accept him as King.

by Anonymousreply 99September 9, 2022 3:53 PM

Slightly off-topic, but surely someone knows the answer to my admittedly shallow question. And forgive if I get any of the terminology wrong.

As an American freak for the Royal crowns, tiaras, and diadems, I would seriously like to know, will Queen Consort Camilla now wear the crowns, etc. that Queen Elizabeth II has worn all these years?

I'm sure I could find some answers elsewhere, but I have certainly come to trust and welcome information directly from the experts here. TIA.

by Anonymousreply 107September 9, 2022 8:19 PM

British royalty is an anachronism. It has no power but, for some reason or other, people find comfort in the tradition. Why they would pay millions in taxes to keep that tradition is beyond me

by Anonymousreply 108September 9, 2022 8:23 PM

[quote] As an American freak for the Royal crowns, tiaras, and diadems, I would seriously like to know, will Queen Consort Camilla now wear the crowns, etc. that Queen Elizabeth II has worn all these years?

I don't know for sure, but I would doubt it.

As Queen Consort, she is not a ruling Queen like Elizabeth was.

by Anonymousreply 109September 9, 2022 8:24 PM

I hate to ruin anyones grief party, and I admit I do have affection for her, but all these people are talking about what the Queen did, and her life of service and OMG things will never be the same, etc. But honestly, WTF did she do? Seriously. Whenever she spoke it was like a very kind neighbor mouthing platitudes, and I did love her outfits. And she would walk abut greeting people and saying harmless things to them, and everyone talked about how "encouraging " she was, but really...she cut a lot of ribbons. She showed up for people. But I just do not get that she "served her country" thing.

He was letting the world...and Harry know that Harry living in America and "building his own life" is exactly what Charles wants. Looking at it long term, it's for the best. Hopefully the animosity will disappate and HArry can come home to visit from time to time..

Wikipedia:

All British queens consort in the 20th century, Alexandra of Denmark, Mary of Teck and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, wore their own specially made consort crowns, made in 1902, 1911 and 1937 respectively; (each went on to outlive her respective husband but, as a dowager, retained the title, crown and other privileges of a queen until death). Previous English and British queens consort had used the crown of Mary of Modena, wife of King James II, until Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, the consort of King William IV, who had a special new consort crown created for her.

by Anonymousreply 121September 9, 2022 9:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 124September 9, 2022 10:03 PM

Well if all the Queen Consorts since 1830 have had new crowns made for their coronations, why does Camilla have to wear a used one? Even if it does have the Kohinoor diamond.

by Anonymousreply 125September 9, 2022 10:10 PM

You know, the tabloids will never leave them alone, they will invent drama, and exploit ever little twinge, and it will stir trouble, and then there are the Staff and people at court who jealously guard their turf. So Harry needs to make peace with his father, brother and family, but he also needs to keep his distance or he will be just another mess like Margaret or Andrew. Before this happened Harry looked relaxed and happy in L.A. or WTF ever and I say let it be.

I've always thought that Camilla's PR rehab was a masterclass in changing someone's image. To go from what she was to, now, the Queen Consort was no small feat.

I like Charles, but unfortunately I think the goodwill he received today will be short-lived. A lot of that was for a son who just lost his mother. Once Liz is the ground and the crowds disburse from the palace, that's when the real interesting stuff begins.

by Anonymousreply 133September 9, 2022 10:53 PM

R127 I agree. It was almost as if she was a mirror, or an observer for us. She was this pleasant looking woman with the aura of royalty and the weight of centuries of history. She was head of the Church of England. She lived in a castle and she presided over a dysfunctional family. All that pomp and the Cinderella coach and the flourishes elevated it for many people. And the Titles. "The Prince of Wales" "The Princess Royale, The "Duke of York" Damn. It was like Shakespeare meets the Kardashians.

Sunny Hostin - who appears to do nothing now but play the race card - was bitching about the colonial Queen and how Charles needed to pay reparations to her and people in Jamaica, Africa, etc., etc. Except Sunny is half Puerto Rican and half African-American so she needs to get her reparations from Joe Biden. Then Ana Navarro (who can sometimes be quite surprising) pointed out that the Catholic Church had enslaved Africans and natives all over the Americas and they should pay reparations. That shut Sunny up as she's a Devout Catholic.

Now, charles is a spoiled idiot. That video of him hitting the horse (not camilla, an actual horse) and cursing it because he wouldn't do what he wanted is very telling.

by Anonymousreply 138September 10, 2022 2:47 AM

How about Harry's polo pony bleeding heavily where Harry dug his spurs into him.

by Anonymousreply 139September 10, 2022 2:51 AM

Charles is in fact very unattractive and of course, Camilla is downright hideous. They are made for each other. Diana was on a completely different level, beautiful and beloved the world over. So much so that Charles grew jealous and resentful when the crowds wanted to shake hands with Diana, not him. Diana was too good for Charles, he didn't deserve her!

by Anonymousreply 140September 10, 2022 3:19 AM

Andrew and his daughters gave two corgis to the Queen when her old ones died about two years ago. So they're just taking them back.

by Anonymousreply 150September 12, 2022 2:54 PM

I don't want to seem callous, because I did like and enjoy the Queen for all these years. But I am glad Charles is taking over. Even though he is 73, he seems more in t ouch with what is happening in the world. He has an active vital interest in the environment, he is committed to it, and he has an active interest in diversity both at home and throughout the commonwealth. And if he has a tendency to speak out now and then I will look forward to it. HIAlso hope Charles will dispense with some of the ceremonials. I can see upholding traditions and yeah, it's historic, but enough.

by Anonymousreply 151September 12, 2022 4:24 PM

I wonder if they'll donate Sandringham, Clarence House and Kensington Palace to the National Trust? They have way too many palaces which they won't be using anymore. Will and Kate will be living in Windsor. Charles has Buckingham Palace, Balmoral and High Grove.

by Anonymousreply 152September 12, 2022 5:44 PM

Clarence House and Kensington are part of the Royal Palaces group, like Buckingham Palace, St James's Palace and Windsor - the BRF can use them but not donate or sell them. KP and CH are too useful anyway. A chunk of KP is open to the public already. Charles did suggest a while ago that BP might be turned into a gallery for the Royal Collection, but they always need a cental London suite of state rooms for events, so it could be split like KP. Sandringham, Balmoral and Highgrove are owned by the monarch privately, so could be disposed of in theory (Victoria and Albert's Osbourne House on the Isle of Wight is a precedent). I can't see Charles changing the routine of Christmas at Sandringham and Balmoral in the autumn. Highgrove is more vulnerable, as it has no real family history.

by Anonymousreply 153September 12, 2022 7:17 PM

R151 Groovy to hear from 1969.

by Anonymousreply 154September 12, 2022 7:39 PM

I don't see Charles giving up Highgrove. He truly loves it. It is his refuge. He's owned it and nurtured it for a very long time. Keeping Clarence House and St. James as residences, and opening up Buckingham Palace to the public along with maintaining offices there might be the way to go. I know that when Princess Anne or Prince Edward and Sophie are in London they stay at Buckingham Palace. So maybe maintain two or three apartments there. Now With Kensington, there are still some occupied apartments. So they have to let the old folks die off.

William is still holding on to Anmer Hall which is part of the Sandringham constellation. I wonder if Charles might try to change the Christmas routine because now the Queen is gone, and he can.

by Anonymousreply 155September 12, 2022 8:53 PM

Horsemilla, of course belongs in the stables.

by Anonymousreply 156September 12, 2022 10:51 PM

I've been surprised by all the outpouring of support for Charles in the UK. It appears he is more popular than we've been led to believe. And I like Camilla now. She seems like she'd be a lot of fun. The same couldn't be said for Drama Queen Di.

by Anonymousreply 157September 12, 2022 11:04 PM

Of course, R157 "likes Camilla now" as if you never did.

by Anonymousreply 158September 12, 2022 11:07 PM

R158 I delighted in the story of Camilla being pelted with bread rolls in a Tesco! Thought she was an evil, conniving bitch but that was before I learned Diana was an out of control borderline who depended on astrologers, psychics, fortune tellers and that she'd stalked Hoare and Carling.

by Anonymousreply 159September 12, 2022 11:18 PM

Even though Charles has been a big deal his whole life, he must be rather enjoying himself on some level right now. He's the MAN, the center of attention, King Shit!

by Anonymousreply 160September 13, 2022 1:52 PM

I'm going to hijack this thread and go completely off topic. But I've been watching the around the clock ABC streaming service that has been 24/7 Royal coverage since the Queen's death. How have I not known about adorable Royal reporter Omid Scobie? Are you Brits keeping him your own little secret? If I fly to London, will he sit on my face?

by Anonymousreply 161September 13, 2022 2:04 PM

You know, I read that Camilla had a lot of adjusting to do once they got married. Because she wasn't into all the ceremonials shit and the obligations of appearing with him. She wanted to control her own schedule and have her own "Me" time and it was getting very difficult. And now here she is. And I can understand the look on her face. She looks at turns terrified, and confused.

by Anonymousreply 162September 13, 2022 3:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 163September 13, 2022 3:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 175September 14, 2022 3:26 AM

Harry's got to be homesick as hell. The supposed glamour of living in Hollywood has worn off by now and he must be totally lost, isolated from everybody by his bitch wife.

by Anonymousreply 176September 14, 2022 5:42 AM

I thought he would somehow pass and William would be the next king. (Not British and have no idea how this would technically work.)

by Anonymousreply 177September 14, 2022 8:06 AM

Charles must be ready to collapse. He probably hasn't had much sleep at all, and he's being pressed to make a million decisions large and small in a a compressed time frame. And he is on complete public display. I hope William is ready to step up because the amount of work is going to be overwhelming. Charles likes to focus on the administrative side of things, and has been doing that part for at least the past two decades. The Queen had left a lot of it to staff, but he was very hands on asking questions and going over the information.

by Anonymousreply 178September 14, 2022 12:39 PM

It’s hard to go through even one funeral for a person, but having to go to so many services for Queen Elizabeth would be awful. Just hearing about them all is tiring.

by Anonymousreply 179September 14, 2022 3:26 PM

The female royals were interesting and/or amusing: the Queen, Diana, and Princess Margaret in her naughty years. All sadly gone now. The three top current male members are dull as dishwater (I just can’t get interested in the Harry and Markle snoozefest being passed off as “drama”).

by Anonymousreply 180September 14, 2022 3:29 PM

I agree, R180. On another note: Given that Charles is wealthier than God right now, and given the concerns about Harry's memoir, Harry could conceivably kill the book and decide not to publish it. However, he would be in breach of contract. Costly. So maybe Charles will loosen his purse strings, and Haqrry can kill the book, and everyone will be happy and all will be well. You now is was Prince Phillip who made the rule about you can't be half in or half out. He did it when Edward and Sophie thought they could pursue careers, and make money and still be part of the working family and have Royal duties. Apparently there was some contrversy with Edward fucking up some film project and it caused a scandal., and Phil stepped in and said shit or get off the pot. No half and half. YOUre either in or out. If you're out we sever all ties and you become private like Princess Anne and Princess Margaret's kids. Or you remain as working Royals and stop fucking around with "business ideas." Now that Phillip is dead, Maybe Charles will revisit that rule and allow Meghan and Harry to do assume some duties and patronages, and spend part time in the UK. Of course they would have to be circumspect in their activities and it would affect how they live their lives, but much less than if they were full time.

by Anonymousreply 181September 14, 2022 4:36 PM

I watched the service at Westminster Hall today and several times I thought Charles was about to fall over backward.

by Anonymousreply 182September 14, 2022 4:39 PM

Charles' vast wealth today was built on the backs of brown and black people in the past!

But I'll get over it. Make sure the checks are payable to me, not Harry.

by Anonymousreply 183September 14, 2022 4:41 PM

R183 you mamy be right about the distant past. But Charles portfolio of investments and the way he has made High grove a throving concern, and his stewardship of the Duchy of Cornwall which is a profitable money maker are all recent developments. Here I thought he was a "tree hugger." and he is more like a modern day investment guy. Low key but smart. Shrewd. Not nearly as ditzy as I thought.

by Anonymousreply 184September 14, 2022 4:45 PM

Off topic yet again, but you all give Camilla so much hell about her looks and hair. Did you ever take a good gander at your Queen? She was extremely unfortunately looking, apparently never took care of her skin, and always had a hideously old fashioned and horrible hair do. She was never youthful looking and beautiful in the way Diana or Kate are. And she looked far more dated than Camilla.

by Anonymousreply 185September 14, 2022 4:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 186September 14, 2022 5:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 187September 14, 2022 8:17 PM

GUrls, Charles went to Higgrove and he's taking Thursdayh and Friday off, and Camilla... went to her house! Yes. They have separate retreats they go to for some space and "quiet time."

by Anonymousreply 188September 15, 2022 1:42 AM

You know... They kept saying on TV that the Queen made all her arrangements herself even to naming the order of the people following the gun carriage carrying the casket. And all the family and people who were close. Now you read shit all the time about who is close to the Queen. But as much as Fergie likes to "sell" her relationship and how often she visited with Her Magesty, she was no where to be seen. Andrew walked alone, (as he should) and she was not standing in the clutch of people with the cousins and old folks and members of the QQueen's household. My sense is the Charles is very passive aggressive. He's got this style of appearing empathetic and kind and he can also be a vengeful vindictive shit. Very petty.

She’s no longer in the family, she’s divorced. You may have noticed Anne’s first husband wasn’t there, either.

by Anonymousreply 192September 15, 2022 3:04 PM

Fergie knew the Queen from the time she was a little girl. (There is a photo somewhere that I have seen posted here.)

When Fergie and Andrew split, Fergie and the Queen had a meeting and TQ asked Fergie what she wanted (about the divorce from Andrew) and Fergie replied "Your friendship, Ma'am".

I think that the Queen retained that friendship.

I don't know if Fergie will be at the funeral or not, but I would not be surprised.

Not like Anne's first husband at all.

by Anonymousreply 193September 15, 2022 4:08 PM

Camilla and Kate have a lot of work ahead of them to help make Charles and Will more endearing. Kate has loads of charisma and a strong work ethic. Will snagged a keeper. He NEEDS her.

by Anonymousreply 194September 15, 2022 9:34 PM

The PTB will ring down the curtain on them just like they did with Pope Benedict when his tea cups weren't selling. Charlie will probably use darling Camilla's health as an excuse to shuffle off. R197 There has been no guest list published by the Palace. All you’re reading are incomplete lists of confirmed guests. Most published lists have been laughably Eurocentric. Royals from the Middle East and Africa have been left off these published lists as have the premiers from these countries even though many have confirmed.

As for Fergie, by all accounts, she is invited to the funeral.

There was a video clip up of H&M and the Wales at Windsor where Meghan went to shake the hand of a mentally handicapped little boy - about 12 - and she immediately freaked out when he grabbed her, pulling her hair away from him and looking horrified. Then Kate went over to the family with the boy, she and the boy hugged for a long time and she chatted to him and his parents. That's Diana-like.

by Anonymousreply 204September 16, 2022 3:38 AM

It's surprising, considering Meghan's rumored early obsession with Diana and detailed studying of Diana, you would think she would be more Dianaesque in style. But Meghan lacks Diana's charisma.

by Anonymousreply 210September 16, 2022 4:17 PM

I watched it too. Sawe the service in the cathedral. Camilla stumbled as she left, and she seemed to move with difficulty. Watching her sit in the chair to sign, and then rise from it. Later as she was leaving she seemedto stumble a bit. It was noted, but we are told she has broken her toe and it was difficult to walk today. I'm telling you. As I watched her standing next to Charles during the service, she wastrembling. Yes, her head was like Katherine Hepburn but not so pronounced. I don't think Camilla can manage for more than 3 more years. I suspect it's Parkinson's. The stress of all of this must be adding to it.

by Anonymousreply 211September 16, 2022 5:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 212September 16, 2022 6:36 PM

R212, yes, and the other thing I read was how much she resented having to go everywhere with him all the time. She likes her freedom. I think once they get passed this she is going to slow things down. She'll do her things, and she'll do state occasions, but she'll cut back. Plus he already sort of set the stage when he said he had a lot more work to do and had to cut back on all his charities and patronages. Man, Anne Edward Sophie and William and Catherine are going to be doing some very heavy lifting.

by Anonymousreply 217September 17, 2022 12:44 AM

If Harry and Meghan are demanding anything, their timing is off. Charles can call their bluff: they didn't want to be part of the royal family, they moved to a country where we don't have titles. Their hypocrisy is too flagrant.

by Anonymousreply 218September 17, 2022 12:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 219September 17, 2022 1:17 AM

You know I just read that Beatrice and Eugenie are continuing to do some of their patronages. And both are now non working Royals, in fact Eugenie lives in Portugal. Not sure where Beatrice is living. Point is both of them are hybrids. partly "inside" and mostly "outside." I sincerely hope Harry can re-negotiate his status. And I equally hope Harry and Meghan keep their motuths shut about the family. They need to stop complaining and being cry babies. That;s all people will see about them and there's no future in it.

by Anonymousreply 220September 17, 2022 8:43 PM

I was just perusing Quora, and ran up on some insane threads claiming everything from the kids not being real, which is why they are never shown because Meg faked both pregnancies.....to Archie having fetal alcohol syndrome, which is why his face has never been shown. Apparently her fake belly is seen moving around in various videos? Can any of this be verified here?

by Anonymousreply 226September 25, 2022 4:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 229September 25, 2022 6:46 PM

R226, why do you read all that crap? I do think their 2 children exist. The one thing I think might be true is that they used a surrogate for one of the kids. I do believe she actually was pregnant for one of the kids (Archie, IIRC). There was a photo of her immediately post-pregnancy and she still had so much pregnancy weight in her midsection. It was really unflattering looking and I don't think she would have gone that far just to appear like she really gave birth.

Here's that post-pregnancy photo, on the right. She still looks pregnant!

Kind of disappointed in Quora.

R226

There are pictures of her with a shifting baby bump between the time she entered a place and exited. I seem to remember she might have been wearing a red dress. Quite noticeable.

And video supposedly while the bump was very large, she squatted down (to talk to a child?) with her knees together, a position which women who had been as pregnant as the bump appeared claimed was just not possible in advanced stages of pregnancy.

It all comes back to the legal requirement that apparently in the UK, to inherit (particularly in the RF, I would expect) a child must be "of the body". There have been court cases that upheld that, I think.

Apparently, use of a surrogate may mean a child is not "of the body".

That's why the speculation.

Given the questions about Harry's own paternity, it was extremely foolish of him to allow all that BS at the time of Archie's birth. Clouding the when and where. Could it be that M just loves the drama?

by Anonymousreply 231September 25, 2022 7:11 PM

Meghan pretty obviously used a fake baby bump during her first pregnancy but I think she was pregnant. She just wanted to make herself look MORE pregnant and therefore get more attention and sympathy. Due to the 'born of the body' rule for the succession and as the baby was born in the UK, I'm sure the royal family would have been aware if she used a surrogate.

The miscarriage I don't believe. It came hot on the heels of Megan's apparent influencer role model Chrissy Teighen getting massive publicity (which she milked to the nth degree) for her miscarriage. Me too! Said Meghan.

I'm sure the second pregnancy was via surrogate. Why would a 40 year old woman have a baby in Hollywood if she can pay somebody else to do it?

by Anonymousreply 232September 25, 2022 7:45 PM

What people really want to know is which one, Charles or William made the comment about the baby's skin color. Harry should either reveal it or use it to blackmail Charles.

by Anonymousreply 233September 25, 2022 7:46 PM

R233 it was obviously Phil the Greek. He always said stuff like that. And everybody knew it was Philip which is why Harry had to deny it was him as he was dying and the Queen would never have spoken to him again.

by Anonymousreply 234September 25, 2022 7:49 PM

Also Meghan lied claiming it was when she was pregnant. Harry said the comment was made by one person (aka racist old Grandpa) before they married.

by Anonymousreply 235September 25, 2022 7:51 PM

He might not like being King. He is used to being able to talk about his pet projects, like environmental problems and architecture. He won't be allowed to do that anymore. I think when Charles was younger he wanted his mother to abdicate so he could be king but maybe he is too old now. It is hard to make a lot of changes when you are 73. And Camilla isn't that bad. I don't understand the hatred for her. She seems fun. Diana was always moping or she was being an attention whore. Diana went from man to man and Charles only had an affair with one woman. Both Charles and Diana were guilty.

by Anonymousreply 236September 25, 2022 8:07 PM

I suppose William with his Earthshot Prize working with Sir David Attenborough is carrying on Charles' environmental concerns for him.

by Anonymousreply 237September 25, 2022 8:11 PM

[quote] Diana went from man to man and Charles only had an affair with one woman.

Seems like Diana found out about Camilla pretty early into her (Diana's) marriage with Prince Charles. I've always thought that Diana started having affairs after she found out Charles and Camilla were not going to ever stop their relationship. In some ways, it's worse to have one, constant, long-time affair vs. several short-term affairs.

by Anonymousreply 238September 25, 2022 8:54 PM

As I understand it (I can't believe how much I know and yet I rarely read anything about them...it's like the Kardashians, it seeps into your brain) Diana found out about them before she got mrried. She confided in her sisters who told her it was too late to cancel the wedding. When she confronted Charles about it, he admitted he bought Cammie a bracelet or some bauble as a going away gift, because they were friends but the relationship was over and he loved Diana. So Diana wanted to believe it and she did. THing is she and Charles were not compatible and he did resent her. Not her fault but he did. Then she got popular and took away some of his spotlight and he hated that. Really really resented it.

by Anonymousreply 239September 25, 2022 9:27 PM

Diana became the most beloved woman in the world. When she and Charles were in public, shaking hands with people, everybody wanted to be on side to greet Diana, not Charles and obviously, who can blame them.

by Anonymousreply 240September 25, 2022 9:43 PM

Diana and Charles had nothing in common. There was also too great an age difference. Diana had an affair with her bodyguard (who died under mysterious circumstances but nobody seems to mention him anymore) before Charles went back to Camilla. Camilla was crazy about Parker-Bowles and I think she led Charles on to make him jealous as he was fucking anything he could. Charles was crazy about her. I've never thought it was reciprocated. I think she finally gave in out of pity and because she realized Parker-Bowles would never change.

Diana chased after not only Hewitt but Oliver Hoare and Will Carling. Allegedly, the reason she only mentioned Hewitt in the Panorama interview is because he was the only man she fucked who wasn't married.

by Anonymousreply 241September 25, 2022 11:08 PM

Charles didn't tell her he loved her ever. And she complained before she was married about his sleeping with Camilla, and a staff member told her they always run around and she needed to get used to it. She wanted fame. They only had 12 dates and she couldn't possibly have been in love with him either. Don't get me wrong, I was a Diana fan myself. Let's face it if she had lived she was still much better off divorced or not having married Charles. She loved fame and attention. If she hadn't married Charles she would have been a nobody with probably at least 3 divorces behind her. She was publicly charming but a real nightmare to live with.

by Anonymousreply 242September 26, 2022 12:02 AM

I have a question that hopefully some unbiased posters can answer.... why did Diana want to stay married to Charles after they separated?

by Anonymousreply 243September 26, 2022 12:11 AM

She didn't want him to be able to marry anybody else. She did hope to be Queen.

by Anonymousreply 244September 26, 2022 12:20 AM

Tiggy Legge-Bourke was treated like absolute shit by Diana. OK, partly because Martin Thingy made up lies about her having an affair with Charles and partly because she was jealous of Tiggy's influence over her sons. But Tiggy continued to be very involved in Harry's life after Diana's death. She's one of the godmothers of his kid. And she obviously would have a very negative opinion of Diana. Was Harry never curious about the dark side of Diana's character?

by Anonymousreply 245September 26, 2022 12:24 AM

[quote] What people really want to know is which one, Charles or William made the comment about the baby's skin color.

No, people don’t. It’s such an incredibly faux controversy. Every normal person, black or white, would have wondered the same thing and it doesn’t matter one bit which specific person was being referred to in this case.

by Anonymousreply 246September 26, 2022 12:36 AM

Diane was clearly bipolar and they are often sexual compulsives.

Harry is mentally ill and probably a drug addict. He looked hungover or drugged up at all the events surrounding the late Queen's funeral rites.

by Anonymousreply 247September 26, 2022 12:40 AM

He didn’t look “drugged up” to me and I’ve done more than my share of drugs.

by Anonymousreply 248September 26, 2022 1:08 AM

R246, that's YOUR opinion and you OBVIOUSLY don't speak for everyone!

by Anonymousreply 249September 26, 2022 1:18 AM

I Am a POC. At Church, in our famil among our neighbors, who a baby will favor was and is always discussed. It is not racist. It is curiosity. Now worrying about the complexion is a remnant of racism. Because within the Black community, a baby's color was a status symbol. It's been referred to as a caste system. Most iof that has gone away but older generations still chatter about it now and then. Of course the other comments refer to a kid's nose, or their ears sticking out. Now I wasn't there. I don't know who said what. I don't know the context and that is important. But IMO whoever said it was someone who might be either older, or into bloodlines...as with horses. Hell it couold have been Zara's husband. Or Camilla. Or Anne. OR one of the cousins like Kent. Personaly I think a kent said it at some family gathering and someone dutifully reported it back to the Sussexes. Almost as if they wanted to start some shit.

No one made a comment about the baby's skin color while Meghan was pregnant.

What someone did was wonder out loud what color their babies would be if Harry married Meghan and had kids. They were only dating at the time.

Pretending like this was a situation where someone was asking about the appearance of a baby on the way is important to a lot of you, I know, because it helps make the question seem innocent and purposeful, but it wasn't an innocent question.

by Anonymousreply 260September 27, 2022 4:10 AM

I always thought Charles probably had a decent package and was a good lover. Apparently he had some girlfriend in Montreal in the 1970s. He sowed a few oats before strapping the feed bag on fro Camilla.

by Anonymousreply 261September 27, 2022 4:49 AM

Charles had some gorgeous girlfriends. Anna Wallace and Davina Sheffield were the best. But I think at that time he couldn't marry outside the aristocracy. He dated Lady Jane Wellesley for a long time and it seemed like they'd get married. Don't know what happened there.

The Palace is suddenly leaking that the Netflix show makes Charles unhappy because drumming up the "Charles is displeased with Netflix" narrative creates added Palace leverage over Netflix-employed Harry and Meghan.

by Anonymousreply 275September 27, 2022 3:45 PM

It's interesting going how Charles' image has changed since becoming king. There really does seem to be something psychologically mystical about the crown. Even seeing the cypher, the family doing engagements on his behalf, people waiting for him to lay down the hammer, it all gives a sense of majesty, lime we're seeing a new person as King Charles and the old Prince of Wales is gone.

by Anonymousreply 276September 27, 2022 5:37 PM

Charles has trained all his life to be this way. He knows about ceremony, tradition, decorum, etc. and that a lot of the work will be done for him. People will infuse his image with importance. It won't last. Why? Because it's Charles. He needs to learn Less is more. He talks too much and he will benefit from less exposure. There is such a thing as too much and Charles will definitely give it to us if they let him. I hate to say this, but I almost feel sorry for Camilla. Because handling Charles is a full time job, and now he's king it will be MUCH worse.

by Anonymousreply 277September 28, 2022 1:15 PM

King Charles shouldn't give Archie and Lilibet any titles. Archie will be Duke of Sussex when Harry kicks the bucket. First Sweden and now Denmark are the latest countries to strip titles/statuses away from grandchildren.

by Anonymousreply 278September 28, 2022 3:19 PM

I don't see the justification for giving Harry's kids anything. Both of them are US citizens, they are US residents and Harry has made it plain they're staying here. We don't have titles so it's ridiculous for Harry to try to make a 'career' for his family as American pseudo-royalty.

If it's so important for their kids to have titles, they should move back to the UK.

Items from the Royal Collection are constantly being loaned to exhibitions around the world. Things like the Da Vinci drawing could never be on permanent display for conservation reasons.

by Anonymousreply 293September 29, 2022 10:44 AM

When I was in London years ago, I saw artwork and other items at the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace. I also saw the Royal Mews with coaches and cars. I believe most of the art collection is held in trust for the nation as is Buckingham Palace and Windsor Palace. If the Royal Family were exiled, I don't think they could take much of these processions with them.

I saw some Da Vinci drawings at Buckingham Palace in the Queen's Gallery about ten years ago. Personally I don't think the Palace exploits this enough. Loaning art treasures to exhibits world wide is nice, but why don't they also host exhibits perhaps in cooperation with many of the institutions right there in the UK. They could break out a certain selection of paintings on a particular theme and host them in cooperation and coordination with the Birtish Museum for example. It would be a wonderful way of integrating themselves into the lives of the people of the UK with hardly any demands on their time.

by Anonymousreply 296September 29, 2022 2:25 PM

Interesting that Queen Margrethe has just removed the titles of her grandchildren who aren't in the direct line of succession. Margarethe was always very close to Elizabeth and probably Charles too. Very interesting.

by Anonymousreply 298September 29, 2022 4:12 PM

It was said that Elizabeth and Margrethe were close. Have to wonder if there was discussion before her death about this, or even with Charles. Elizabeth saying "They're not my children so I shouldn't have to do it, but here's the strategy you should follow when you become King. Queen Margrethe says she will establish a precedence you can refer to if need be."

by Anonymousreply 299September 29, 2022 4:59 PM

There is obviously a cover up going on here, they can't admit what she really died of. Hardly surprising coming from the BRF. Just like it is widely believed that Prince Philip is the one that ordered the hit on Diana, but of course, it was all covered up.

by Anonymousreply 300September 30, 2022 2:39 PM

^Good. Anything to keep you stewing in your juices.

by Anonymousreply 301September 30, 2022 2:59 PM

R300 - I don't know about "widely believed". Diana's car was (1) being chased by paparazzi; (1) the driver was drunk and speeding into a tunnel and (3) she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Only nutjobs would believe Philip had any hand in Diana's death.

by Anonymousreply 302September 30, 2022 3:02 PM

I actually read somewhere, years back when "Diana fever" continued to hold us in her thrall, that Charles order the hit, and it happened at the hospital. They claimed she was alive when she was taken f rom the car, she was talking and moving, and then she goes into surgery and dies. Som people are crazy. I do not believe any foul play was involved in Diana's death. She had an unreliable drunk driving her car, and she was chased by the paparrazzi who went after her like a pack of jackals. As Peter Jennings once said, We often try to infuse a significant event with some sinister conspiracy theories because of the enormous impact it has on us.

by Anonymousreply 303September 30, 2022 3:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 304September 30, 2022 3:37 PM

Prince Philip dressed as a French hooker spiked Henri Paul's drink and was himself/herself the driver of the mysterious white Fiat Uno.

The original plan involved Prince Charles luring Diana to Balmoral with suggestions of reconciliation where Philip would "accidentally" shoot her while hunting, mistaking her for the Loch Ness monster.

by Anonymousreply 316October 2, 2022 9:15 PM

Well, as far as I'm concerned Charles has made his first real mistake as King. He has turned down his invitation to the international Climate Change conference he attended last year where he spoke so eloquently. Everyone knows he is an environmentalist. This is NOT a political issue where you take sides. It is real. He knows it is real. It's not a matter of him being too busy. He decided it wasn't a good look. And he is wrong. His new timidity is a bad look. He should stay true to himself. This is not the time to distance himself from this. It's an existential issue. He used his postition to promote environmental issues. It is a very bad move for him to act as if this is a political expedient. If he thinks it is more approriate for the government to take the lead he is wrong. He is who he is. His concerns on this issue are not a matter of opinion.

by Anonymousreply 317October 2, 2022 10:25 PM

QE & Prince Phillip did a bad job on raising Charles and Andrew. There's more coming out about Andrew's bad personality & staff complaints. When Diana went to QE for help w/Charles, QE said: "He's impossible." I know a couple of women who are really into their dogs and both are kind of cold people (other than to their dogs). I think QE could not connect with her children on an emotional level.

Every parent inevitably 'fails' when put under the microscope. EVERY. PARENT.

The real failure however is the young adult that, despite having every resource and support, refuses to take responsibility for his life.

But I don't think so. Charles has a shitload of PR advisors.

by Anonymousreply 324October 3, 2022 4:16 AM

by Anonymousreply 325October 3, 2022 4:29 AM

A Monarch can go out and say and do some things that run at cross purposes to the government. Sometimes it is just an irritant and at other times it is dangerous. For example: There were Extremists in the UK who supported Nazi Germany among the nobility mostly. Sir Oswald Mosley who held a baronet I believe, was the leader of the British Union of Fascists who openly supported Hitler. And King Edward the VIII was engaged in activities supportive of Hitler, and of normalizing fascism, which ran at odds with what the government and Parliament were doing. Another time, it is said that members of the RF, including possibly the Queen, did not support Harold Wilson's views and especially did not support the national health services at first. But fortunately they kept their mouths shut and didn't interfere. Now as regards Charles and the Environment, I think he should continue his life's work of leading by example. This is not a political issue.

by Anonymousreply 326October 3, 2022 1:47 PM

Charles was supposedly advised by PM Truss to NOT attend the climate summit.

However, he could appear by video like his mother the late Queen did AND/OR send his son William there in his place . There are other options open.

It's the benzos. And media training, etc.

by Anonymousreply 346October 11, 2022 7:23 PM

Meghan Markle is a professional crybaby and raging narcissist. I've heard clips of her podcast. It's nothing but "poor me". And no matter who the guest is, she manages to make it all about her. I loathe this woman. And it has absolutely nothing to do with her race. She's very attractive, but profoundly disturbed.

La Markle is the distaff version of Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 348October 12, 2022 7:06 PM

Whenever I hear Kate speak I'm always surprised for a moment her accent is not as high-class as the Windsors' are (although I shouldn't be because her origins are so middle class). I wonder if it irritated some of Will's family members.

by Anonymousreply 362October 16, 2022 8:10 PM

Yes, I agree with R362, and they live very close by so it shouldn't be a problem. I know that Sophie and Edward and the Princess Royale have apartments at Buckingham Palace for times when they're in town, but so what. The place is huge. They ought to use it for offices, state occasions and allow certain parts of it to be open to the public much longer than it currently is. Problem is, a lot of people servants, would lose their jobs. I mean there's a fucking servant to pour the tea and another to butter the toast. Gets kind of ridiculous.

For fellow British history lovers...

King Charles III is reportedly interested in letting the bones found under the staircase in the Tower of London to be tested. The bones were found 17 July 1674 and were assumed to believed to be those of the deposed King Edward V and Richard of Shrewsbury, the only sons of King Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. Four years of their discovery, King Charles II had the bones buried in Westminster Abbey, where they remain.

The late Queen Elizabeth II never granted the approval needed for testing.

I've always been curious to know what happened to the young "Princes In The Tower". I hope the new King will allow DNA testing. Perhaps we'll finally know what happened to them.

William's a mixture of Diana and the Queen which is not surprising as the Queen acted very much as a substitute mother after Diana's death. It's odd that it's Harry who revolts against Charles as he was the favorite and William rebelled against him. In fact, Harry only revolted against his father when Daddy wouldn't give him all the money Meghan wanted. I see our American ignoramus "The British monarchy is a powerless meaningless anachronism" troll surfaced. He's from the They Obky Cut Ribbons crowd who were off smoking weed in the stairwell during European History 101.

Actually, they're still around because they wield an enormous amount of what is called "soft power".

That show you saw over the last couple of days was done ON THE ORDERS OD THE ELECTED BRITISH GOVERNMENT.

South Africa is Britain's biggest trade partner. The government wants that relationship publicised, acknowledged, and strengthened publicly.

A few men in suits shaking hands outside 10 Downing just doesn't send quite the colourful message rea hing the greatest number of a global audience

But what you saw yesterday. This was done in the interests of Britain's geopolitical and economic alignments. And it WORKS. The guests are thrilled at being a acknowledged this way, both governments get their message out, and the folks back at home are gratified.

This is the monarchy's real job, and only it can do this quite this way.

And that's why the elected government is quite pleased to keep it going. In matters of diplomacy like this, the British monarchy is matchless.

And, by the way, there are eight other hereditary constitutional monarchies in Europe.

I assume you singled out the British monarchy because you're unaware of the ones that exist in Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Lichtenstein, and Luxembourg, right?

You'll see Queen Margrethe of Denmark and her heir and his wife doing very much the same thing when important geopolitical and economic messages need to be sent. Also on the orders of the elected Danish government.

No one in Britain's commentariat failed to note the meaning of events of the last two days as they reported on them.

It was clear to everyone how important this visit was, and why the monarchy is the man for the job, except, of course, the Meaningless Anachronism trolls.

by Anonymousreply 466November 24, 2022 3:41 AM

R465 Yes, we know, dear, you've never gotten over Diana. But, like Harry, you really owe it to yourself to move on.

Because, as you can see, the world is quite happily tootling along with Queen Camilla in place. It really has rather more on its plate these days . . .

Unless you're claiming that the Death of Queen Camilla would solve climate change, cause Putin to drop suddenly of a massive heart attack, make the Sahel area of Africa bloom again, and stop the glaciers from melting . . .?

by Anonymousreply 467November 24, 2022 1:43 PM

R466 The rounded thighs, arms, and bosom showing through that gold gown give the lie to your sneer. Her figure is indeed enviable in some ways, although she could use more length in the leg and less in the torso, but that doesn't mean she looks like a mannequin. It's interesting that no one is willing to accept that in more ways than one, Kate just got lucky - muscle tone, athleticism, etc. You can see her figure through the golden gown. No listing whatsoever for the Sussex reality show, either in all of December or on 8 December.

If you were Netflix and were about to drop something like this in less than two weeks' time, would you not be listing it and promoting it by now?

What gives?!

R474 My dear, I am simply trying to ensure that everyone on these damned threads is up to date.

One gets paywalled, and then you're stuck going on to another one and finding they've ignored a REALLY IMPORTANT STORY.

by Anonymousreply 478November 27, 2022 7:44 PM

Well, in case you haven't noticed, most of us are trying to keep the Sussex pair out of this thread. It's called "King Charles" so Charles, Camilla, Wales news and everyone else, pretty please. The Revenge thread is for H & M and the needless bitchin'.

Horsemilla belongs in the stable and NOT on this thread either!

"Queen's Companions" will now be called "Queen's Queens"

by Anonymousreply 481November 27, 2022 9:06 PM

Does Charles get 'Me-In-Waiting' then? Or is it 'Gentlemen -In-Waiting'? Or is it just Major Johnny handling all of Charle's ancillary needs?

One of those listed is "Jane von Westenholz".

Wasn't Violet von Westenholz the person who introduced the gruesome twosome.

Isn't Jane her mother?

Ouch.

Alexander the Great also had Companions...just sayin'

I think Kate looks absolutely Regal in the White cape gown. I love it. The tiara is perfect, everything about the presentation is perfect. She definitely looks like a Queen in waiting. Camilla is not someone I feel hostile towards. She's Charles' wife. She's there. So what, right? However, in these photos she looks bad. First that bright blue dress with the lace sleeves looks cheap. Do they have a David's Bridal Shoppe in London? LOL! And her hair is awful, the tiara and the jewelry is gawdy. Too too much. And jeez, she needs dental work.

by Anonymousreply 488November 28, 2022 1:57 AM

She'll never be the great beauty that the last two Queen Consorts were at the same age! They were gorgeous lookers well into their 70s.

R490, fine no one wins a beauty contest. But that wasn't the point of my post. My post is about presentation. I bet Camilla really wanted to "wow" everyone for her first state dinner. I think about the effort and expense that went in to preparing her for this occasion, and I have to shake my head. We have all seen Camilla in outfits, formal outfits that were elegant and flattering. I have. She is not a beauty. But she has done well in the past. It seems to me she has changed stylists or something. I feel like this presentation was tasteless. It makes her look absurd.

by Anonymousreply 491November 28, 2022 2:09 AM

Want to add that Sophie must have deliberately dressed down, wearing a shroud like mess, so as not to overshadow the two principals, Kate and Cam.

by Anonymousreply 492November 28, 2022 2:11 AM

Camilla looked stunning in the sapphires. Seethe!

by Anonymousreply 493November 28, 2022 2:15 AM

LOL! Horsemilla isn't capable "wowing" in anything. Some of you are delusional, she is a hideous monstrosity that nobody gives a shit about!

by Anonymousreply 494November 28, 2022 4:58 AM

r492 Sophie has no sense of style. She's is not dressing down, she just doesn't know how to dress, period. Never forget her Miss Hughes outfit she worse to the Queen's funeral. I assume she was going to a Downton Abbey fan meet up afterwards. She and Edward put their daughter in even worse clothes. Forget Balenciaga, someone call Child Services or the fashion police on the Wessexes.

The Queen's Companion thing is quite sensible. Elizabeth II's ladies in waiting had over the decades developed a role supporting the actual monarch and some of them are staying on to do the same sort of thing for Charles in a role now called Ladies of the Household. A queen consort in the 21st century doesn't need a gaggle of posh women on the payroll. She'll have a secretary and a dresser and otherwise the 'Companions' can be drafted in for specific activities.

by Anonymousreply 496November 28, 2022 7:06 PM

R494 How many of you "horsemilla" trolls are there? Or, how many accounts to you have? I've blocked you at least five times, yet here you are, spouting your primary school sandbox insults. May one ask how old you actually are?

by Anonymousreply 497November 28, 2022 7:44 PM

R487 Yes, Jane is Violet V W's Mum. One wonders if the new QC (ruh oh, now QC will mean two things!) has some interesting tidbits gleaned from her daughter's association with Medea of Montecito that she has passed on to the new QC (ruh oh, now QC means THREE things!).

One wonders if Medea of Montecito is also nervously wondering the same thing?

"I wonder what The Queen is doing tonight.

What merriment is the Queen pursuing tonight?

What occupies her time whilst waiting for the Crown?

She's hearing first rate gossip that puts ME-ME DOWN!

And, oh, the expectation, the sublime anticipation She must feel about the next bit to come . . .

I'll tell you what the Queen is doing tonight:

She's laughing her arse off whilst my arse goes numb . . .!"

Meghan The Duchess of Sussex

Uh, but that Instagram post annoyed. They listed the Queen of Jordan after the Crown Princess of Denmark. The Queen of Jordan was even standing to the left so either way she should have been listed first. I know this may seem minor because it's a random Instagram account, but if they are going to pretend to be royalist accounts at least put people with the rank of monarch first. And it feels as if they just hold European royals to a higher standard.

by Anonymousreply 514November 29, 2022 12:49 PM

R513 Probably, along with the Markle worshipping Klan Grannie Troll(s). They seem to have multiple accounts here, and a few are probably Russian bots.

It's the infantilism that marks them so easy to ID. Complexity and nuance, especially those that go into the bleak marital landscape that William and Harry were unfortunately born into, escape these trolls, for whom there is only innocent and one guilty party.

Diana's infidelities, shrewish demands on her husband from Day One of the honeymoon, total volte face after the ring was on her finger, stalking of Oliver Hoare, and willingness to get into bed with a rich sleazy playboy whose father was so corrupt that a government not unknown for tolerating rich but unpleasant men refused him citizenship, seem to have no bearing on her saintly character with these people.

Nor does the happy 17 year union between Charles and Camilla seem to have any bearing on what Charles must have endured whilst mismated with the infantile, demanding, shrewish, calculating, conniving Diana. Nor her shitty parenting, turning one boy into her "rock" thus making the other one feel "less than" long before Harry figured out the additional disadvantages of being born second into a hereditary monarchy.

It's all Camilla's fault.

It is interesting to wonder what this all would have looked like if Camilla had been ten years younger than Charles and beautiful, as well.

Most mature men, and especially one in Charles' strange position, figure out that beauty is compelling, but over long-term domestic life doesn't make up for the lack of a mate who doesn't take herself so seriously, is down to earth, a generous bed partner, and who understands that she isn't there on an equal basis to a future king.

You can see that William figured it out. Kate is quite sufficiently attractive to suit but not the ragingly pretty charismatic creature that Diana was. And, like Camilla, takes her position seriously but not herself, and understands who the centre-stage ultimately has to belong to. It is usually people with a stronger sense who have enough to offer support and not feel that she isn't getting enough attention - especially knowing that even in the adjacent position, plenty enough attention will come her way.

It's what Harry and Meghan never grasped. And, in that, Harry is just like his emotionally voracious mother and wife.

by Anonymousreply 515November 29, 2022 1:21 PM

R512 Because at her age it is very likely she suffers from arthritis and other aches and pains, especially in her lower back, and it is more comfortable to do so - especially dressed to the nines and having to stand for quite some time with cameras bearing down on her.

It is very interesting that all you faux feminist trolls keep demonising Camilla because, at 75, she doesn't look young and pretty with beautiful posture and smooth skin.

The Queen wasn't standing up straight for quite some time by the time the Reaper finally arrived and freed her from the the truly appalling depredations of old age. I am younger than Camilla, but not by that much, and I saw my parents into old age and then the grave, and I can tell you that once past sixty, it is quite frightening how quickly you begin to lose muscle and other strengths.

Things look different on the shady side of the pasture. Camilla went through a grinding ten days when the Queen died and a public schedule that would have felled an ox. Quite apart from everything else, I can tell you that watching it as an elderly man I wondered how she remained standing at all.

Grow up, will you?

by Anonymousreply 516November 29, 2022 1:27 PM

Camilla is in fact perfect for Charles, they are both ugly as fuck! Diana was way too good for Charles and of course beloved the world over. So much so that Charles was full of resentment and jealousy over it.

by Anonymousreply 523November 30, 2022 2:32 AM

R523 all those guys are like that. Only Phillip seemed to project self confidence and understand the assignment, and he was The Queen's husband. But Charles, William, and probably Andrew and Edward all seem like pompous insecure assholes, who do not like to compete for attention with their wives. They were brought up believing that the mere fact they were Princes of the Blood, entitled them to center stage and to deference at all times. When they got overshadowed by their siblings or wives, it rankled . Charles blamed Diana for all the attention she got when, in the beginning it wasn't her fault. And William's resentment of Harry will never abate.

by Anonymousreply 524November 30, 2022 3:58 AM

William's resentment of Harry? Are you a moron? Harry's jealous as hell of his brother, his jealousy largely stoked by La Markle, future Real Housewife.

Is it tough being a genius?

by Anonymousreply 527November 30, 2022 2:22 PM

R527, Charles was visibly and openly jealous of Diana, and the public's response to her, and he was the Prince of Wales, heir to the throne. So, yeah. Being jealous is a real personal visceral reaction, and there was always a certain amount of rivalry between the boys in spite of the public images of them growing up.

by Anonymousreply 528November 30, 2022 2:40 PM

We have it straight from the Ginger's mouth: "Everything is better for William.".

by Anonymousreply 529November 30, 2022 6:39 PM

Oh, I see. What Prince Charles experienced is necessarily what William will experience. They are identical men, living identical experiences, at identical times, with identical wives.

by Anonymousreply 530November 30, 2022 7:25 PM

They are Schrödinger's Princes of Wales.

by Anonymousreply 531November 30, 2022 8:50 PM

Charles should have been happy that the people of the UK liked Diana so much. It was good for the monarchy and he should have cared about that. Charles was 30+ at the time and had had his time in the sun. Why not let Diana have some attention. I can't stand him.

I don't think William is jealous of Kate in that way. I think William sees Kate as an asset to the monarchy.

I like Kate, but she's not perfect. All of these videos of Charles blowing her a kiss, Kate crouching down to talk to a little boy - it's enough, already.

by Anonymousreply 532November 30, 2022 8:56 PM

Is he dead yet?

by Anonymousreply 533November 30, 2022 8:59 PM

R532 What do you mean, "it's enough already" . . . was it "enough already" when Diana was doing the same thing? Who said Kate was perfect? No one is perfect. But she IS going about her fucking job perfectly and that's all that matters.

Frankly, I'm blown away by her sang-froid as her brother- and sister-in-law try on a weekly basis to pull the rug out from under her husband and her father-in-law.

by Anonymousreply 534November 30, 2022 10:46 PM

R532, why would William be jealous of Kate in that way? She is as bland and boring as he is, she is certainly no Diana.! NOBODY is!

[quote] R532], why would William be jealous of Kate in that way? She is as bland and boring as he is, she is certainly no Diana.! NOBODY is!‘

Not R532. Kate and Wills seem to be their own personalities. They are definitely not Diana; because she was a Drama Lama that sought out a shifty playboy that facilitated her own death.

Hopefully the current Prince & Princess of Wales will not regale us with Dramas of Their Predecessors. They appear much more grounded than Charles and Diana.

by Anonymousreply 539December 1, 2022 3:12 AM

Diana was an international phenomenon, beloved the world over. NO member of the BRF can ever hope to attain a centilla of her popularity. She was one of a kind, we will never see the likes of her again!

by Anonymousreply 540December 1, 2022 3:42 AM

No member of the BRF wants Diana's international popularity, r540. That isn't their job.

by Anonymousreply 541December 1, 2022 9:53 AM

Ok, perhaps Meghan wants Diana's international popularity, but she's only a tangential member of the BRF and will go down in history like her American "royal" predecessor, Wallis Simpson.

by Anonymousreply 542December 1, 2022 9:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 543December 1, 2022 10:55 AM

Wallis wouldn't have been seen dead in the shit Meghan's stepped out in.

If there is one thing Wallis understood, it was tailoring.

by Anonymousreply 544December 2, 2022 12:36 AM

R541, I would beg to differ, Charles definitely resented Diana's popularity. When they were out at public events, all over the world shaking hands, the public wanted to be on the side that got to shake hands with Diana, not Charles. He seethed over this!

by Anonymousreply 545December 2, 2022 12:51 AM

R545 I don't think anyone ever doubted that.

It is a trap that William and Kate avoided. There is no question who the centre-stage destiny boy is, and yet she manages to look lovely, beautifully dressed, sympathetic . . . but not a star. William had the sense to get exactly the right balance in his wife of appeal but not stardom. It's no mean feat.

Good lord, R548. Personally IMO Catherine is quiet elegance not gaudy sparkling overpowering stuff. Her Dress was too sparkling for the tiara. As for Camilla, I can only believe that Charles bullies her into wearing all that jewelry to "look like a queen." Clearly all his taste is in his mouth. Camilla has had a lot more misses than hits since ER2 died. She needs to go back to the way she dressed before she became Queen Consort. She knows what works. Don't let anyone tell her what she is now "supposed to" wear. Neither Catherine nor Camilla need all these reminders that they have now been elevated.

Ok Meghan @ R557.

by Anonymousreply 558December 11, 2022 10:09 PM

Why is Meghan so jealous of Kate? Is it because Kate is the Leading Lady and Meghan was only Supporting or is it because she's got William? I wonder.

by Anonymousreply 559December 11, 2022 11:15 PM

It's because she's an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 560December 11, 2022 11:16 PM

Meghan didn't get it. I think she aided and abetted her Harry's already feelings of insecurity. I think there was always a sibling rivalry, even though both brothers knew William would be King and Harry wouldn't, Harry had a need to stand out and contrast himself with William. As a teenager he did it by being the bad boy, the cut up. But once he went to the military, he seemed to develop a sense of purpose all his own, and he excelled. Meghan, the American was "trying to be helpful" she wanted to support Harry and it translated to the two couples seeming competitive. She seemed to think being assertive and pushy would let those Brits know she would not be ignored, she was as good as they were. And so was HArry.

by Anonymousreply 561December 11, 2022 11:23 PM

R557 Hi, Meghan!

You wouldn't know what Kate is like. That's the point of being royal: you keep your private self home and you do your public job well

Where people like YOU can't see it.

You clueless imbecile: you're unconscious of the fact that what you're really doing is affirming how well Kate is doing her job.

And she isn't the one spreading slime on other people and bleeding staff.

by Anonymousreply 562December 12, 2022 10:42 AM

I want to know if Charles is bullying Camilla into changing her look. Because she looks like total shit. All those gaudy baubles. Yes I know. They're all precious expensiver, rare jewels from the Queen, but my gawd she looks awful. And her wardrobe choices are terrible too. I think Charles is picking shit out and insisting she "Dress like the Queen Consort and wear all that jewelry." All he has to do to look dignified is get a decent hair cut and a well tailored suit. But Camilla, poor dear, looks like she's been beaten with a stick.

Even though he was behaving himself, Louis still looked mischievous.

I love Kate's jaunty hat. She's worn her green coat in the past.

Great to see Louis, spare us the ghastly site of the Cuntwhore.

by Anonymousreply 573December 25, 2022 6:12 PM

louis is a ugly and bad-natured kid!

by Anonymousreply 574December 26, 2022 9:58 AM

Meghan is right at dont allow that Louis boy to be near Archie

by Anonymousreply 575December 26, 2022 9:59 AM

The only grandson that Diana would have a relationship will be Archie in all likelihood!

by Anonymousreply 576December 26, 2022 10:01 AM

R574, R575, R576 = Meghan, pissed off that she ended up with unmerchable potato-headed spawn

by Anonymousreply 577December 26, 2022 10:24 AM

R576, Archie lives in the US, Diana would hardly ever see him.

by Anonymousreply 578December 26, 2022 12:39 PM

Diana wouldn't have given a fuck about the potato-headed kids. She would very likely have been appaled at Lilibet's name and would've told Harry to get a fucking life.

She would've spoilt rotten William's kids though, perhaps even up to the point of William feeling the urge to interfere.

Big Willy letting his hair down. Those were the days.

Diana wanted her son to be king. She would have been right there with William and his kids.

by Anonymousreply 581December 26, 2022 3:35 PM

Diana would find a shame as the 3 children of William looks like James Middleton...

Yes, Archie will be the favorite

by Anonymousreply 582December 26, 2022 4:30 PM

Diana will be disappointed at the looks of William' 3 children ...

She probably would have no contact with William's children... their upbringing must be awful and it shows

by Anonymousreply 583December 26, 2022 4:35 PM

Bored again, Meghan @ R582 & R583?

by Anonymousreply 584December 26, 2022 4:51 PM

R582 Right, the Pa Markle looking one would most definitely be the favorite.

I know we have a ton of trolls on these threads, but in all honestly I think there are actually some who have no real idea about Diana. Just because Diana was divorced from Charles and had an almost childlike resentment of some members of the Royal family doesn't mean she rejected them as HArry has done. Diana was a member of the aristocracy. She was born into it. She had bloodlines. She trashed the RF and pulled the trigger on exposing Charles, but there was no way she would've ever prevented her son from being King. In point of fact if she could have she'd have thrown Charles in the trash and skipped him for William. She loved HArry, but she always regarded him as a scamp and always looked at him as the Spare. His role and his future was prescribed. He and William both. And she would have never jeopardized any possibility of William's ascendance, nor her grandson George.

by Anonymousreply 586December 26, 2022 5:43 PM

First of all, if Diana were still alive Meghan wouldn't have got through the door and Kate would have been tormented though finally accepted. And what Diana wanted to be most of all was the mother to a king so Harry would have got short shrift.

by Anonymousreply 587December 26, 2022 5:51 PM

Exactly, R587. If Harry had been determined to get with Meghan he would have been estranged from Diana just as he now is from Charles.

by Anonymousreply 588December 26, 2022 6:04 PM

Diana would have been the Mother-in-Law from hell.

by Anonymousreply 589December 26, 2022 6:06 PM

You know the tabloids hype the shit out of the Harry/Meghan thing, but it's really a lot of bullshit. Because IMo it's not so different from the son of a wealthy successful family deciding he did not want to go into the family business, he wanted to strike out on his own. Happens all the time. And there are millions of families where the in laws don't like the spouse he's chosen. The whole thing will eventually die out because fine, Harry wrote a book, He and Meghan did the documentary and interview with Oprah, and he will do a few interviews for his book. Then what? There is nothing new. Nothing. All the "reveals" will be revealed. He can spend the rest of his life being Prince Grievance or he can do something purposeful. But I think most people are just bored with it all.

r590 most families don't stab each other in the back via the staff. The Windsors playing fast and loose with their PR folks and the press is what caused this drama between the brothers. They are acting like it's Dallas or Dynasty instead of acting like a damn family. William and Harry should have gotten together, hashed out their issues, and stopped using the press to bash their respective families.

But, in the end everything is working out for the best. Harry built a family of his own in CA. While in a gorgeous sun kissed California mansion. Harry and Meghan have other Netflix docs coming out. William is fulfilling his duties as PoW along side Kate.

The drama will end after the book and coronation. It's a shame it came to this but the writing was on the wall well before Meghan joined the family. I honest to God wish both boys and their wives the best. There are much worse asshole in the world than the Windsors.

True r590, I've stated the same here myself several times. If H&M want to up sticks and leave the family firm, and strike out on their own, they should be encouraged to do it.

The issue is they still want to benefit as if they still work for the firm: still want to be paid, get paid security, and merch off the titles given to them by the head of the firm. The big bosses said no go, so they threw all their toys out of the pram and headed off into Grievance-ville. If they made their own way, in peace, under their own name/s, they would have so much more respect.
