The more followers someone has, the more tickets they’re likely to sell to have them meet that person. Bash has more than anyone in the cast besides Joe and Kit and is genuinely very nice and warm to fans. He’ll make the convention look good. I don’t see a reason they’d pick Tobie (and be able to sell 75+ pound tickets to meet him) over bash. If these people are upset about that I hope they never go to comic cons because the actual villains are often huge selling points there.

Disagree about there being minimal storyline after Nick comes to terms with his sexuality, Charlie’s mental health issues start coming to the forefront at that point.

And no, not necessarily RE: the cat being out of the bag? The only person to have been shown paying attention and understanding what was going on apart from the friends that already knew was Imogen. Nick was also grabbing Charlie’s hand and leading him around before they even got together. People potentially suspecting =/= Nick explicitly coming out, so it could go either way in season 2.

The rugby scene, which I consider 100% unambiguous, was created for the TV show and does not appear in the books. On the beach afterwards Nick says 'he doesn't want to make a big announcement', though I he has very clearly already done that in a spectacular way. Nick's coming out was a major plot point in book 3, inclusion of this Nick/Charlie scene in the series is definitely going to affect that plot dynamic, it will be interesting how the author handles it.

Yeah, the rugby scene/public handhold thing was a bit poorly written - it was clearly very obvious when Nick ran off the pitch and abandoned the game, with dozens/hundreds of people watching, but then for some reason most of the crowd seemed to stop paying attention as soon as Nick reached Charlie and they held hands. Even though in reality, everyone would be staring at them and wondering what the heck was going on. I'm assuming Alice/the creators were wanting to hold back the big relationship/sexuality reveals for future seasons, but clearly that hand hold was very public and would quickly be the talk of the whole school.

R171 I think their relative privacy has been somewhat overblown. People say all the time they see them holding hands or being affectionate in public and they pretty clearly take each other as their dates to everything minus Joe going to the BAFTAs - and that was so last minute I’m not sure he got a plus one. Joe brought Bash to the Soho Club opening, probably was a big part of his invite to Dior (especially the more intimate Dior dinner), probably brought him to the Attitude Awards last year (as he didn’t walk the red carpet with the main four, didn’t have a stylist, and was the only other cast member to attend), etc. Bash took Joe to basically everything they both attended pre the show premier. My guess is they’ll keep that up and at some point, maybe around the premier of Bash’s movie when Joe is clearly there as his date, any ambiguity will be out the window.

And everyone knew Bash would be there for the final day of Joe's play. Had fans waiting for him to show up. They aren't subtle or hiding anything. They just aren't announcing it.

I don't even think Joe's trying to hide they are living together either with him still wearing Bash's clothes. Certainly didn't hide they were sharing a hotel room in Paris with him wearing the clothes Bash was wearing the day before and then liking a picture of the two sitting closely on a train on the way home.

The original tweet was from a set designer and Rhys does something involving the crew. Seems plausible they’re getting sets together the next week or two and then the cast will be back to rehearse / film soon after that. Well, Joe just keeps to himself and isn't bothering anyone about it. I thought he was most bothered by fame since it was so sudden for him, but in reality it seems like it's Kit since Joe has the ability to be mature and remove social media from his life and Kit does not.

Joe has been the punching bag right from the start. That is right from when the trailers dropped. But we don't see him tweeting constantly about how he's getting hated on or anything like how Kit be doing.

R182 I think at the beginning Joe was a bit more impulsive in tweeting (seemed validly pretty hurt by “ugly” being his first search result) but has stopped responding to or acknowledging online shit since then. to be honest I have no issue with any of them being sensitive about this stuff, they’re young and I’m sure it hurts their feelings… I just don’t think Kit is doing himself much good venting about it and of course as others say he receives much less hate than Bash and Joe. Bash is remarkably resilient about it and I think probably has the healthier perspective that it’s a few people expressing negativity versus loads being lovely (which is something joe mentioned in an interview is a mindset he is trying to adopt). Deleting Twitter is perhaps the right move for many of them and I don’t fault them for it or think it’s dramatic but I think making a full tweet announcing that departure in a stroppy way is a tad over the top.

Joe is more extroverted and seems to have a stronger personality so while he did struggle with it in the beginning and did lash out on social media a couple of times, it’s not surprising to me that he was able to overcome that more quickly than Kit, who is more introverted and sensitive.

Joe has a good role model in Bash... who gave up giving a shit about what people said years ago he said.

Kit seems to be hot heated. He has so many Twitter followers, a majority of who I’m sure had no idea about the video but he chose to draw more attention to it. Not sure why he chose to do that, he could’ve deleted the app and no one would know. I know he’s young, but it comes across as almost manipulation

I think he's just very dramatic and sensitive. I don't think he's really trying to manipulate people. Though he's probably reading all the nice comments fans are sending him.

And I just know nobody is going to have a great time filming, at least not the same as it was before. These kids take shit too seriously.

Why wouldn't they have a good time filming?

I'm sure filming will be fine, but doubt they'll be able to be as free as they were in the past is all. Fans are going to be hanging around trying to find them too. The cast seemed to hang out a lot at different places together and weren't bothered but seems unlikely they can do that again. If they actually do film in Paris it'll be a mess as well. The vlogs are probably going to be less authentic too. Just a bit of a difference from a group of nobodies filming something compared a group of people with an insanely devoted and obsessive teen fandom.

The Instagram posts and stories they would all post of each other were always fun, and I remember Joe and Kit doing Q&As on there as well. Sucks the chances of those ever happening again are basically 0.

Tobie's already said that there'll likely be less vlogs than last time, and how intense it was when people were analysing things in the background of the first vlogs. Why can't people just be normal so we can have nice things?

Good grief. They aren’t that famous. At all. Just among a very specific group of teenagers & parts of the queer community. They & the teenage fans have started acting like they are major movie stars .. I promise you not a single one of my straight colleagues would know who Joe, Kit or Bash are. No-one I know in real life watched HS bar a few gay & lesbian friends. They need to watch their egos.
