I think if it wasn’t for Joe & his freak out about privacy, Bash would be all over the fame game & popularity he’s got from HS. I’ve followed him for a couple years or so. He was super active on social media, seemingly very into any attention he could get, seemed a bit of an ‘it’ boy at one point with his London crew of semi-famous friends & gaggles of girl pals. Bash never unfollowed any of his family, friends or Joes family & friends. It was Joe that freaked & unfollowed everyone he knew.

They've never said anything one way or another but have been to family weddings together, brought each other as +1s to media events and hotel openings, take vacations together, hold hands in public, and visit one another constantly. R167 my take on it is probably that their PR suggested if they want to be more private, removing some of it is good. Cynically speaking, when they first deleted or archived all the content they had way fewer eyes on them than they do now as the show hadn’t come out yet. Even then the Twitter fans following in advance of the show freaked that they had a breakup or falling out, and it was only as time went on and it became clear they were doing a social media clearout but were still together that they calmed down. While the two of them are very cute and I don’t think it’s a possibility in their minds that they’ll ever break up (young love) I’m sure it was in their reps minds that if all their photos were cuddly flirty ones together and they broke up and deleted them, there could be a massive freak out with a larger audience.

If I was Joe’s PR especially I would honestly probably also have recommended keeping it relatively low key until he had lined up season 2 of heartstopper and been cast or at least auditioned for other roles outside that as well. If they’d been out as a couple pre show I do think a lot more headlines would’ve been “gay love story onscreen and off” with some space spent on their relationship as well as the show’s plot. That’s not ideal for the show but it’s also not ideal for two early in their career actors, especially for the one whose first role it is. Agree with r168 that post the show or even before that, if they’ve both been cast in other things and have less to worry about, they’ll likely be more public.

Now that people are such die hard Nick/Charlie fans and that all the romantic Ben/Charlie scenes are over, they might feel more comfortable even sooner as people are much more unlikely to “ship” Charlie and Ben just because the two actors are together (especially because Kit is the fan favourite). So they might feel less like they’re tied to the characters in the fans’ minds. But I still think we’re unlikely to see them come out or say anything until after they’ve each booked another “substantial” role of some kind.

I think Bash could play straight and has more traditional good looks and a posher accent; Joe is more character looking. He’s definitely attractive in my opinion but less capable of playing it straight, shorter, very skinny. Also I suppose we never know what’ll happen for them but i doubt either is ever going to be mainstream A list actors, which also makes it easier. If they’re both primarily kicking around the British TV, movie, and stage scene, there’ll be work for both and less sense of competition than if they were both vying for Bond or whatever

I wonder what he’s auditioning for and what his next roles might look like. The Dead Boy Detectives would’ve been a nice thing to have lined up and must have been really disappointing to have fall through. Maybe something on Channel 4 or BBC, though Netflix seems to love him (he’s all over their Instagram For such a minor character) so perhaps another teen series there.

R237 I don’t think he dresses particularly feminine in his daily life - if anything Bash is the one we see in sheer or more experimental clothing (like the 18th birthday one, his suspenders outfits, etc) and Joe is generally kicking around in jeans and some sort of sweater. Even for events if he works with a good stylist they’ll steer him towards things that work for him, maybe a bit more androgynous but not a full dress situation. I think as much as he embraces being out and not super masc he’s also not particularly femme and his team is smart enough to keep it tamer (at least for now). We haven’t seen him wear any overt makeup, any skirts, or anything like that. I will say his current stylist is clearly terrible so he needs to get a new one and steer towards better tailored looks.

That’s really lovely R249. I think the three of them (Jenny, Bash, and Joe) are quite close; when Joe came back to London a month after filming ended to visit, he and Bash met up with Jenny the first day.
