The newest “fan protectiveness effort” (people have moved on a bit from the just friends brigade) is saying that they’re worried the studio will make Joe lose weight to play Charlie with an eating disorder and thus trigger poor health or an eating disorder of his own. Firstly, people lose weight for roles, including playing anorexics, without becoming one and second… Joe weighs probably 125 lbs soaking wet. I highly doubt they’re overly concerned about how realistic he looks playing someone with an ED or that they think he needs to lose weight to pull it off. He also last summer posted an Instagram story of Joe showing off his GQ editorials with the caption “doing gods work”, and Joe reposted it with the caption added “I am gods work”. Bash is certainly Reaming him and both are happy for people to know that from their flotation styles.

I don’t think Joe always pulls off the outfits he is given (to be fair they’re sometimes hideous or poorly tailored) but he looks a better fit and seems to enjoy high fashion more than Kit. While there’s not any backlash per se towards anyone else I’ve seen more and more people tweet about how they wish the rest of the cast backed Joe as much as he backs them (specifically about Yaz and Kit) and I think it’s a good way for him to maintain the “approachable” image that you sort of need in a show with a young fanbase without actually having to do a lot of fan service.
