The recasting was likely the project Bash talked about in his podcast interview; he said his parents were always incredibly supportive even when a big project he was attached to fell through and he was devastated. I felt for him; I thought he and Ty were actually quite charming and they did a lot of promo for the episode, likely with the presumption they’d then be pulled over to the standalone series. Bit shit to get replaced like that (and surprising given Ty is a nepotism kid). Wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Bash pop up in the Game of Thrones spin-off at some point. He’s close friends with Ty and Emily Carey who are both in it, and if he played a stark it would be a nod back to his original casting as a young Ned. Though he doesn’t look much like a Stark anymore, to be fair.

Well, I’ve never heard of doom patrol but HS has been a reasonable success. And while he had a small part, he’s been a big part of the cast & got his name out there. And a boyfriend he really seems to love. Somethings happen for a reason. Must have been pretty disappointing for him though.

If he’s going to see IOM to see Joe again, that’s adorable but they are the most codependent couple in the world. Joe brought Bash to a Brighton soho house launch end of May, they went to a few plays together in London beginning of June and the jubilee, then Joe spent a few MORE days in London through the 13, and now bash is headed to him? Plus I presume they’ll head off to London or on vacation together after exams. Very cute.

Yeah neither has a normal job taking up their 9-5, clearly they have the money plus they just stay at one another's homes so it's really just flight cost, and i presume when Joe's exams are done either before or after they film season 2 he'll move to London full time and they'll live together. To be fair, I’be had 3 longer term relationships in my life & I moved in with my boyfriend at about the 12 month mark every time. Renting obviously when I was younger. I don’t think it’s that weird that they want to be together a lot after over a year of a relationship. That person becomes your best friend, the person you like being with the most.

I was really surprised Joe flew to Brighton, flew home for the TT festival & back to London within 3 days though. That was insane. Maybe Joe flew back on Monday for exams & Bash is following to celebrate Joes exams finishing this week.

Joe/Bash fandom is crap. There's not a single picture of Bash at the airport. If it was Omar or Edvin from Young Royals their tags would be packed full of the same picture.

Omar & Edvin are the two leads, people love that. And for the fans, they do genuinely seem to be very good mates, photos of them pop up all the time. They are always at each other’s life events, birthdays, graduations, albums dropping and seem to socialise reasonably frequently. Omar clearly has a boyfriend though & the boyfriend also seems to love Edvin. They are cute those two.

Joe & Bash aren’t the leads. They have far less appeal in that sense. It wasn’t meant to be them. I’ve seen some really disappointed fans kicking around that Joe & Kit don’t socialise, don’t seem overly friendly & they have absoloutly nothing to over analyse about how they might be in love 😂

R52 I also think a lot of people didn’t really join the fandom until (understandably) the show came out. By then Bash and Joe had deleted most of their photos together and stopped being so obviously flirty in IG comments. Even other ways people could see chemistry and personality (like interviews)), they’re never paired up for and Bash has done very few anyway. It seems like most of his biggest fans were people who loved the webcomic and thus were tweeting about it and interacting with him online before the show came out. If they officially come out or are even more explicitly a couple or if Bash participated in more cast interviews next season and they see his personality and vibes with Joe I think people would get more “obsessive” about them.

There have been tweets of people spotting them in IOM. They might be very recognisable to a certain crowd but they really aren’t that famous to the vast majority of adults. I think given how casual Joe was about his coming out as well (just casually mentioning it in an article and in vlogs) Bash might just be taking the same approach, referring to himself as part of the community here, talking about bullying in school. I also listened to the Gaby podcast for the first time recently and noticed he said that he loved Heartstopper but that even people who "weren't queer" liked it too, giving his dad as an example. If you're positioning "not queer" in opposition to yourself that's another pretty strong hint he identifies as something not straight if not outright gay.

Tobie Donovan was interviewed and after about the 10 minute mark, they discuss his vlogs. He mentioned that Netflix collaborated with him on putting the vlogs together, which is interesting in light of the lap sitting shots. It makes one wonder if the IG deletion/archiving of couple photos was down to talent management, rather than, say, a Netflix publicist.

I’ve always thought it was either their own decision, knowing their fame levels were about to shoot up & wanting to retain some relative privacy or it was some kinda mutual agreement between all involved, agents, producers, Netflix etc. - that the focus needed to be on the show & on Joe and Kit as a pair. I honestly think it was in large part their own decisions, primarily because Joe also unfollowed literally everyone from his personal life. My guess is Joe got prettt freaked out by the sudden fame and interest in his life, and Bash was also ok being lower key and archiving the photos / not being as blatant (like Joe not taking him to the BAFTAs). I think they’re both getting more comfortable adjusting to it now, though; they’re very open in public, Joe tagged Bash when they went to see that musical, brought him as a plus one to the most recent event in Brighton, and they’re posting from what’s clearly Joe’s room. My guess is they sort of gradually go back to posting one another more though probably not to the same level as pre heartstopper.

R131 Tbf I don't know his family in real life at all, but Bash's dad adopted his older two half siblings and married their single mum, refers to them as his children rather than stepchildren, and openly talks about his wife's background as a daughter of refugees and the difficulty of growing up looking different. He also seems very accepting of Bash being with Joe and their relationship. It would be a bit aberrant to be much more openminded than average in all those ways and still bristle at them speaking another language; it seems more likely he's fine with it or even that he's learned and picked up some of the language over time as well.

Agree with r132 - it's plausible that the dad picked up some of the language, and that the kids know it better. I was raised by an immigrant mum and English dad, and my dad learned passable amounts, my siblings and I all got to fluency, and my mum obviously remained the best as a native speaker. We spent a lot of time with my mum's parents though which did help, and I would guess that Bash and his siblings' fluency level would be tied to that closeness to maternal family as well.

I know of just one case, a friend with Polish mother who doesn't speak the language (and regrets it). But it is not because the father is paranoic or had anything against it, but the mother wanted to adapt so hard that she wasn't speaking Polish with her kids. In all other cases mother was speaking her language with kids.

Has Bash mentioned languages in interviews? It seems the sort of thing that publicists would like to publicise, to add "color" to a performer's profile.

I take it you aren’t gay R149? I am. I still worry about holding my wife’s hand walking down the road. We are in our 30’s. My wife & I have been together since we were 18. The only place I ever felt safe to publicly kiss her at Joe & Bash’s she’s was in gay bars or a prominent gay area of our university city. Or house parties with trusted friends.

Also, even the most minor of celebs don’t make out in public (well, not the ones who aren’t begging for attention). And certainly, once a relationship is solid & secure, it’s pretty normal to just be a couple who hold hands, cuddle up etc. No long term couple is snogging on the street or down the isle at Tesco!

So most people aren't brave enough to talk about it. There was even some people who think Joe and Bash are dating to One Direction shippers in their delusions.
