I think Jason probably got used to being the one in complete control during Ozark and here there may have been too many voices/compromises. He’s also passed on or dropped out of a number of movies he’s been attached to as director over the last couple of years.

This is a potential big problem for Bateman’s carefully curated reputation.

He probably was a bad fit for a big budget franchise. And ScarJo and her secret lover Chris Evans probably didn’t want to do method acting (or frankly any acting).

Scarlett has the presence and personality of the most confident woman at the bowling alley. She has become quite brash.

Bateman is looking old, like his sister. Both are very odd, strong willed, but not team players.

Bateman and his sister definitely had a fucked up time as child actors who supported their family. I’m sure they experienced a level of abuse and exploitation. They’ve both got late in life eating disorders and quick tempers; rumoured to not speak.

The Bateman siblings are called out by their Mom for “abandoning” her! Sounds like she’s married to a much younger man now, they’re probably just trying to protect her.

Don't blame him. My estimations of ScarJo went down when she took legal action over being paid a massive fortune, rather than a colossal fortune for a movie in the middle of a pandemic.

I saw ScarJo in A View from the Bridge and she was horrendous. It's one of the worst live performances i've ever seen. She sounded like she was reading everything off the teleprompter, with that droning wooden delivery and awkward forced mannerisms. When she won the Tony for it I assumed I must have seen her on an 'off night'. But every clip I see of the show, she's still pretty bad.

She was so good in Lost in Translation but so bad in basically everything else. Jason Bateman definitely seems like a cunt, but it must suck going from directing Laura Linney to directing this.

I just don't see why men find her so hot and so attractive - I never have. I get Megan Fox, but I've never understood Scarjo (or Blake Lively, the poorman's Scarjo).

I agree with R43. Blake Lively may be a horrible actress (OK, she IS a horrible actress), but she is sexy as fuck and playing the wife role is her best "role" yet. Many people believe they are a legit couple and that the weird Canadian guy she lives with isn't sucking dicks on the side!

Blake was an excellent fit for Serena on Gossip Girl. And she was the it girl for a minute before settling for Ryan.

Ivo Van Hove also directed Saoirse Ronan's unbelievably amatuer performance in "The Crucible" the following season.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. She's great on film, but onstage just stood there facing the audience and kind of yelled all of her lines in the same automaton-like manner, as if she were terrified and had to bark them out. A couple of the other leads sucked too, but not in that "I've never acted on a stage" way Ronan did.

Yes, I think he’s a nice guy and quite genuine at times on that podcast he has. However, being in recovery from booze/drugs is probably a factor in some of his moods. That and growing up entitled is certainly a factor. People that say he’s a raging asshole might be their personal experience.
