Ok, going to change the subject slightly so soz to the people above in the thread. Looks like 4+ of the cast (including Joe and bash) have all been been at the producer's office today. Seems likely they're signing contracts for S2 and possibly S3.

Would they not sign contracts before the S2/3 announcement? Surely shows don’t announce a new series without making sure the lead cast is in a watertight agreement to do it?

R197 generally they sign on agreeing to multiple seasons if the show is picked up, but then when it's renewed they can renogotiate salary, filming dates, etc. Given this is a cast of mostly all brand new actors / unknowns the negotiations were likely fairly straightforward, with raises for the supporting and more significant raises for the mains (and perhaps for Yaz given the Dr. Who casting) and checking the dates to ensure everyone can film at the same time.

Years 12 and 13 are also specialized uni prep rather than more standard schooling, so self study and missing a large percentage of days is much less concerning that for earlier years.
