I mean, it’s not hard to see why the fans love Bash. He is a PR dream for the show. He’s is the shows biggest cheerleader. He should really be paid for all the off the cuff marketing he does, he’s all over it. He’s interacting with the fans, he posts loadsa behind the scenes photos & clips, he is constantly on Twitter and it’s all for the show. The fan service he does is huge. And this is someone with a pretty minor role.

I felt bad that as per the fan Zooms, during the rugby scenes the "laddyness" of the changing rooms was too much for Joe and he had to take a breather. I don't think he and Kit don't get on, they actually seem to quite well, but I wonder if part of their relative lack of closeness on set was because Kit spent more time with the rugby boys (he said he really enjoyed those scenes and has reposted stuff from 2+ of the minor actors in them) who Joe seemed less comfortable around.

It’s just the public voting R31. It’s the UKs biggest publicly voted awards show. The NTAs are well regarded here, kinda one down from the TV BAFTAs. But the soaps are usually big winners, soaps are huge here!

R32 well, if any one of the two manages to go onto the short list its going to be Kit, i guess, he has a much larger fanbase. Which is a shame really cause i think Joe deserves it more.

I hope neither or both or shortlisted; I can see both getting shortlisted because the fanbase is so passionate but Kit winning or getting way more votes. That's the hard part of one character getting a more complex arc in the first season; it's generally when the fanbase is at its height and when there are way more awards in play (Rising Star, Breakout, etc) than in later seasons, where Joe gets the more complex acting job (IMO anyway) but then is only eligible for more competitive awards.

I will say he is someone who is also very easy to promote (using social media and interacting with fans comes super naturally to him; he is really eloquent in interviews and gets on well with his costars; and seems very eager to jump on opportunities). He has had some good editorials etc (like GQ UK) but I think a good PR strategy would help keep his buzz going and help him carve out room. He is relatively unusual in that he's openly gay so early in his career, but I think he is really talented and actually really captivating on screen so given the growth in gay roles, his general likability, and the relatively large fanbase he would bring from Heartstopper a better PR team would really be able to work wonders.

I live in London and have been to Balan's (which Joe said in an interview is his favourite place to eat in London) multiple times. I have also ordered the halloumi bruschetta which I highly recommend so I recognize it very well, and I'm almost certain that is where they were during Bash's Valentine's post. Cute that he either took Joe to his favourite restaurant or that Joe's favourite place is somewhere they went together for Valentine's.

Bash's singing related - most of the time Joe doesn't really mention Bash in interviews, and Kit is the one bringing him up, sometimes almost to poke fun at Joe a bit I think!. One of the few times he openly said something more than just mentioning his name was in an interview where they were asked who was most likely to be first on the mic at karaoke. Joe originally said Bash; then Kit said it was probably Corinna (who plays Tara). Joe agreed but when Kit said "she has an amazing voice" Joe was quick to add "as does Bash!" (Starting 8:44 in the video).

Thought it was a cute moment - he seems quite careful to not bring him up normally (when they were asked who they were closest to in the cast, Kit said besides Joe it was Will whereas Joe defaulted to "we're all like a family!") so it seemed like such a reflexive boyfriend move to quickly interject that Bash was also talented.

I feel like at this point I’m grasping at straws for content. That being said I weirdly feel like their lack of posting on a vacation together is pretty couply. Both of them (and all the rest of the cast) are very quick to post pictures and a lot of content of their hangouts on their stories or feed, whether it’s drinks in London as bash has done with kit and will, or something more structured like the stranger things event a bunch of them went to. The fact that they’re both at Soho House rn and aren’t posting a tonne or particularly active in social media at all (no tweeting or IG posts today) is more reminiscent of trips I’ve taken with partners than a friend trip where you’re more likely to do something casual and post it or tag them

I doubt they are still there. They were there for the opening party on Friday (this is a newly opened venue for Soho House).. Joe filmed some promo, they did some press photos. Is it telling that the out gay guy is happily looking at the camera while the one who hasn't commited publicly to a label is looking off to the side? At the very least, I think Joe landing his first professional gig as a gay character has emboldened him in a way that Bash likely hasn't been by an industry that tells gay people to hide/not disclose.

I think Bash is just unaware that photo is being taken but I do agree R191. Joes jumped feet first into playing a gay character & made the call early on to be out & open about himself. Ben is an interesting character with a lot of issues beyond being the homophobic closet-case. Even Kit said that he would’ve wanted to play Ben if he didn’t play Nick.

The fans don’t want him to be redeemed though. I’ve seen loads of tweets where they don’t think he ‘deserves’ it because he assaulted Charlie. Because he’s this one dimensional ‘baddie’ who will be a bad person for the rest of his life.. Or you know, he’s a 15 year old character who would probably grow up to become a perfectly nice, gay man.

I genuinely worry for some of these fans, they are going to have a tough life if they have these horribly fixed, unforgiving thoughts on life. Life isn’t perfect, people are not perfect. It’s messy & not black and white. We are flawed in some way. Teenagers in particular, the vast majority learn & grow & become decent adults who can be forgiven for stupid behaviour when they were 15.

Oh I see R200. I thought HS was meant to be a sunshine, rainbows & happiness fandom. It seems pretty toxic to me. The tweets I see are so snarky & have this god awful superiority tone. I doubt they’ve written season 2 yet R209. Season 1 differed in parts to the books, with characters being added or omitted. And they changed Nick & Charlie being out to their friends early on. That doesn’t happen in the book. So long as shows keep their main storylines fairly faithful, the story can differ slightly and side stories be added or taken away. What works written down as a book, doesn’t always make sense on screen. And what grabs the publics attention on TV might differ to the book or expectations. The show & the books are two different entities.

Alice seems to like Bash, I’m convinced he’ll be back! With or without a redemption arc. Maybe he’ll remain as asshole, can still be part of the story! Either way, I fully expect to see Bash in Paris 😂

I think Joe is just being the teenager that he is. Everything is quite dramatic when you are 18 & he happens to have been catapulted into the public eye overnight. His life has gone from ordinary to completely not ordinary and it must a bit hard to wrap your head around people delving into your personal life & complete strangers commenting on your appearance on social media. I think we’d all find that kinda weird & you feel particularly insecure as a teen.

So digging through all of that just to find the ones with joe in it, is like excavating ancient fossils. Someone from inside must be involved in leaking those videos. Besides, that girl’s fame also catapulted after those videos of her with joe came into public eye. It wouldn’t be surprising if she was the one who posted it first and the fanpages took it up after that. Joe might be following tons of people on tiktok. I highly doubt , someone would make that much effort of going through all of the tiktoks of all of the people that joe follows , just to find the videos that has joe in them.

Joe’s ears are a part of his charm. Its an added bonus that gives him his adorable appearance. If he wants to “fix” them, he should go ahead and do it, since its his body. But if he only does that just because people are making fun of them, that would be sad. Also some people from showbiz does that, just to enhance their appeal, I suppose. But it certainly does make them loose some of their charm. Colin Morgan did that, and I found it less appealing than the time when it was ita normal self.
